Italy and France are now prescribing variations of this cocktail as treatment for sickness caused by Corona Virus

We’ve been talking about anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine for about three weeks now.  However, U.S. health agencies like FDA and CDA, are still very cautious about the effectiveness and safety of the two drugs due to small trial size and lack of sufficient data.

Techstartups reports that in France, the government caved to pressure from renowned Dr. Didier Raoult, who led the new additional study on 80 patients, results show a combination of Hydroxychloroquine and Azithromycin to be effective in treating COVID-19. Dr Didier Raoult, a professor of infectious diseases who works at La Timone hospital in Marseille, then declared in a video on YouTube that chloroquine was a cure for Covid-19 and should be used immediately.

 

Canada is already using chloroquine on coronavirus patients

A COVID-19 treatment has already been rolled out at the Montreal Jewish Hospital, giving hope to many that there might be light at the end of the quarantine.

 

Chloroquine, a drug first introduced to fight malaria in 1934, has been speculated to both prevent and treat COVID-19. Today during a White House Press Conference, U.S President Donald Trump announced that chloroquine was being fast-tracked by the FDA for the treatment of coronavirus, and would be rolled out “almost immediately.”

WASHINGTON – The Food and Drug Administration on Sunday issued an emergency use authorization for hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine, decades-old malaria drugs championed by President Donald Trump for coronavirus treatment despite scant evidence.

 

The agency allowed for the drugs to be “donated to the Strategic National Stockpile to be distributed and prescribed by doctors to hospitalized teen and adult patients with COVID-19, as appropriate, when a clinical trial is not available or feasible,” HHS said in a statement, announcing that Sandoz donated 30 million doses of hydroxychloroquine to the stockpile and Bayer donated 1 million doses of chloroquine.

 

The move was supported by the White House, part of a larger Trump-backed effort to speed the use of anti-malaria drugs as a potential therapy for a virus that has no proven treatment or cure. FDA already has allowed New York state to test administering the medication to seriously ill patients, and some hospitals have added it to their treatment protocols.

 

Teva donates potential coronavirus treatment to hospitals across the US

  2. Yesterday I saw an interview with Dr. Oz on Hannity Fox News.
    He was saying people had contacted him to say they had recovered after being given Hydroxychloroquine.
    He said it’s anecdotal but he was having an expert on his show the following day.
    Not sure when the interview was recorded.
    Dr. Oz said patients should be given this treatment until/when a better treatment is found.
    It’s not a drug you should prescribe for yourself.
    It can have serious side effects.

    • We all are. These are insane times. And perhaps the fact that we cannot make sense of them results in dangerous actions as well as spreading dangerous ideas.

      I don’t blame people for wild conspiracy hypothesis. They are no harder to believe, and maybe even easier to believe than the truth, whatever that is.

      But for sure the hardest thing is to know you do not know, and you have no control over anything at all.

      That thought leads to despair and madness.

      But it is also the gateway to knowledge because thinking one knows what is going on filters information doesn’t it? So you only see what fits.

      Whatever plays out, we should treat communist groups at home and abroad with the total contempt they earned so richly, not just in the 20th century, although that should have been enough, but because of the total destruction of normalcy of the world and how one Communist Chinese bio-lab turned the entire world into a sloppy ineffective bio-lab with nearly all of its people to ill-informed or unable to comprehend what is going on to be able to operate it.

      MONTREAL — A community of 4,000 Orthodox Jews in the Laurentians that was quarantined by public health officials because of an outbreak of COVID-19 asked authorities on Sunday for help to enforce the measure.

      Community leaders said around 100 tests have been conducted, with more than 40 per cent coming up positive for the virus.

Nobody ever said that young healthy people are less likely to contract the coronavirus yet this article pretends that a young guy getting it is a big deal. Or they’ll say that a baby died but they won’t go into the pathology so you don’t know if the kid had lung cancer or not so the “news” equals zero. How about telling us something about what methods the Italians are using to treat the virus instead of playing ring-around-the-rosy with the truth and treating us like so many morons. Are they just such natural-born liars that they can’t help themselves?

    In particular, I would like to know if the Italians, for instance, are using the hydroxychloroquine “cocktail” not to be misled with the usual disingenuous irrelevant shit they seem to like feeding us. What gives? Why are they being so damn misleading…?

          A history of ARDS, you might do better with more sophisticated autoimmune-disorder medications. There’s a whole slew of them.

          The coronavirus itself won’t kill you. Your own immune response to it – that’s the key. When it goes into overdrive it’ll hit you where you’re weakest, probably cardiovascular.

          So – your medical team will PREVENT that complication by treating you as per your history. As doctors get more experience – and battlefield medics learn FAST – they’ll be treating patients as individuals.

          If we can avoid getting it right now, our odds improve HUGELY. Say, the second wave, next fall. And if we hold off till late winter, there’s likely to be a vaccine and we’ve got it made.

    • An old malaria drug, HCQ, was re-purposed to treat a serious autoimmune condition, SLE. Then it was thrown at this new virus, which works in part by hijacking the immune system.

      So what else do we have in the old immunology toolbox?

      The TB vaccine has been around for almost a century; now over 100 million children a year from underdeveloped countries are vaccinated with it. My Russian friends all got it when they were kids.
