Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Iran rejects coronavirus aid amid conspiracy theories and sanctions (abcnews, Mar 24, 2020)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/iran-rejects-coronavirus-aid-amid-conspiracy-theories-sanctions/story?id=69775776

“Iran rejected coronavirus aid provided by Doctors Without Borders, an international medical humanitarian organization, which had sent a team of medical staff and a field hospital to Iran.

“Since the national mobilization for confronting corona is ongoing, and the medical capabilities of Iranian Armed Forces are entirely at its service, Iran does not need hospitals established by foreigners and such presence is irrelevant,” an adviser to Iran’s health minister, Alireza Vahhabzadeh, tweeted on Monday.

The Islamic Republic is the hardest hit country in the region with a death toll of at least 1,934 and 24,811 officially confirmed infection cases, the spokesman of the health ministry, Kianoush Jahanpour said on Tuesday, Iranian Students’ News Agency reported.

On Sunday, the official website of the Doctors without Borders /Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) stated that a “team of nine emergency and intensive care unit (ICU) doctors” along with logisticians to run the unit were sent to Isfahan, the second worst-affected province of the country after the capital city of Tehran.

After the minister’s adviser’s tweet, MSF confirmed in a statement that “its intervention in response to COVID-19 in Isfahan is currently put on hold,” saying the organization is “waiting official confirmation about the next steps.”

The decision has caused confusion about the real need of the Islamic Republic for medical aid in its fight against the coronavirus.

Sadegh Zibakalam, Iranian political expert described the move as an example of prioritizing “ideology over people’s health.”

“Expelling Doctors Without Borders who had come to Iran to fight corona is a representation of politicization and prioritizing ideological considerations over everything else including people’s lives and health,” he tweeted on Tuesday.

However, those who are in favor of the decision believe that the MSF help package was too small to cover needs of the country, saying it was meant to cover up the bigger damages the U.S. sanctions have caused for Iran’s health system…”

Iran incites against Doctors Without Borders amid coronavirus crisis

Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif continues to say one thing in English on social media, while the regime in Tehran spreads conspiracies and incitement against aid organizations that seek to help Iran combat coronavirus.

Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontieres, or MSF) sent a team and temporary hospital unit to Iran on March 22. But the regime spread claims that it was spying and tried to expel it.…

An analysis of social-media response in Iran over the last 24 hours showed that many accounts linked to the regime have a certain narrative. The regime wants aid to be controlled by its own organs, to both profit from it and make it appear that they brought the aid, not foreigners.

MEANWHILE, an orchestrated campaign from Khamenei’s office and the IRGC has spread rumors that the doctors are “spies.” One account shows a doctored photo of a French doctor, and underneath it he wears an American and Israeli uniform. “You have no place in Iran,” the user says.…

  2. Multiple Explosions Erupt at Iraq’s Camp Taji Military Base – Reports (sputniknews, Mar 24, 2020)
    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/202003241078697753-multiple-explosions-erupt-at-iraqs-camp-taji-military-base—reports/

“According to local reports, at least three explosions were heard at the Camp Taji military base north of Baghdad late Tuesday. The base houses both Iraqi and US forces.

A reporter with Sky News Arabic said on Tuesday night that three explosions had been heard at Camp Taji, an Iraqi military installation that also houses a large number of US troops.

US forces at Taji have come under attack repeatedly this month, resulting in the deaths of several members of the US-led coalition in Iraq. While Washington maintains the attacks were carried out by Kataib Hezbollah, a Shiite militia in Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), at the direction of Iran, Tehran has denied the accusations…”

    • Spain: Security guards forcefully detain man for allegedly breaking state of alarm

Two Renfe security guards held a man at the Mostoles Central train station on Monday, for an alleged breach of the state of alarm.

Footage shows the aggressiveness of the guards, who drag and hold the man on the ground, while one of them is on top. The man repeats that he has a document that says he came from work, and that he has not been allowed to show it.

Next to him, two loaves of bread can be seen on the floor, which according to the person filming the video, the man was carrying. The purchase of food is one of the justifications for going out on the street included in the state of alarm’s decree.

At one point, one of the guards approaches a woman who asks them to be less aggressive with the man. He arrives next to the woman asking her if she “likes to get involved where she shouldn’t”, even though she asks him not to do so in order to respect the safe distance. The guard ignores this, and even takes out his baton.

According to witnesses, the police came to the scene and, after talking to the man, allowed him to leave.

  6. 4 Years Later, DOJ Finally Admits There Were No Russian Colluders
    AMERICAN LIBERTY REPORT

Here’s the announcement that former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein made in 2018, during the early stages of Robert Mueller’s witch hunt: “The indictment charges 13 Russian nationals and three Russian companies for committing federal crimes while seeking to interfere in the United States’ political system, including the 2016 presidential election.”

Barack Obama’s old Harvard buddy Rod Rosenstein was as giddy as a schoolgirl when he made the announcement. He could barely contain himself. Here, at long last, was the fabricated “proof” that Hillary Clinton was really his president. But just this week, the Justice Department sheepishly admitted that it was all a lie.

  7. Justin Trudeau’s government is choosing to not postpone a 50 percent carbon tax increase, despite the ongoing economic strife of the coronavirus pandemic, according to Blacklock’s Reporter.

This tax hike was originally created two years ago and was scheduled to go into effect on April 1st.

The Liberal’s Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act legislation mandates a 50 percent rise in the tax from 4.4¢ a litre to 6.6¢ a litre.

When Trudeau’s Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland was asked about the tax hike, she said “I think our government has been very clear that this is a time where our first priority is protecting the health and safety of Canadians, and that’s what everyone here has been very focused on.”

Spray hydrogen peroxide on everything incoming?!

According to the CDC, household (3 percent) hydrogen peroxide is effective in deactivating rhinovirus, the virus that causes the common cold, within 6 to 8 minutes of exposure. Rhinovirus is more difficult to destroy than coronaviruses, so hydrogen peroxide should be able to break down coronavirus in less time. Pour it undiluted into a spray bottle and spray it on the surface to be cleaned, but let it sit on the surface for at least 1 minute.

Hydrogen peroxide is not corrosive, so it’s okay to use it on metal surfaces. But similar to bleach, it can discolor fabrics if you accidentally get in on your clothes. “It’s great for getting into hard-to-reach crevices,” Sachleben says. “You can pour it on the area and you don’t have to wipe it off because it essentially decomposes into oxygen and water.”

  10. More Indonesian women view full face veils as vital
    https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/se-asia/more-indonesian-women-view-full-face-veils-as-vital

“Only the rider’s eyes were visible from behind her black face veil. With a bow in her left hand and an arrow in her right, she cantered her horse towards a target, aimed quickly and let fly. The arrow struck home with a resounding pop.

The rider, Ms Idhanur, who like many Indonesians uses one name, is a 31-year-old teacher at an Islamic school in East Java. She says firing arrows from horseback while wearing her niqab – a more conservative face veil where the only opening is a slit for the eyes – improves her chances of going to heaven.

Ms Idhanur is part of a growing, peaceful movement of Muslim women who believe they can receive rewards from God through Islamic activities such as wearing a niqab and practising sports that Prophet Muhammad is thought to have enjoyed.

Many also say the full veil offers protection from prying eyes and harassment by men in a country where unwanted sexual advances are common.

Ms Idhanur, who teaches at the Al Fatah Islamic Boarding School of Temboro, part of the revivalist Tablighi Jamaat movement, has an answer for Indonesians who fear that the conservative Islamic dress is a troubling step towards extremism and the marginalisation of women.

“Even though we are wearing a niqab like this, it doesn’t mean that we become weak Muslim women,” Ms Idhanur said, after dismounting. “We can become strong Muslim women by participating in archery and horseback riding.”

Indonesia, a democracy that has the world’s largest Muslim population, is officially secular and has long been known for tolerance. But in the 22 years since the dictator Suharto was ousted, the country has turned increasingly towards a more conservative Islam.

Conservative clerics, such as Indonesia’s Vice-President Ma’ruf Amin, have gained a more prominent role in public life. And local governments have enacted more than 600 measures imposing elements of Syariah, or Islamic law, including requiring women to wear hijabs – a catchall for headscarves – to hide their hair.

A small minority of Muslims have also embraced extremist views and some have carried out deadly bombings, including the 2018 Surabaya church attack that killed a dozen bystanders. One suicide bomber was a woman, prompting many Indonesians to be wary of women who wear niqabs.

Concern that the niqab is associated with terrorism prompted Indonesia’s Religious Affairs Minister Fachrul Razi, a former army general, to call for a ban on employees and visitors wearing the full veils in government buildings.

He fears that some government workers are being attracted to extremist thought and sees the niqab as a sign of radicalisation. His regulation has yet to be adopted. A 2018 ban on niqabs at a university in Central Java lasted only a week before opposition compelled the university to rescind it.

But Ms Sidney Jones, a leading expert on terrorism in South-east Asia, said it was important to distinguish between radical Islamists who pose a threat and followers of conservative Islamic groups who promote a traditional Islamic lifestyle, such as the proselytising Tablighi Jamaat sect.

“Because of their dress, they are often confused with extremists,” said Ms Jones, director of the Jakarta-based Institute for Policy Analysis of Conflict. “But they are against violence. It’s a great example of a movement where dress can be totally misleading.”

Unlike at the male-dominated Al Fatah school, where women and girls as young as five are required to wear the niqab, thousands of mainly urban, middle-class women in the country have made that choice for themselves.

Leading the way is Ms Indadari Mindrayanti, a clothing designer, who founded the Niqab Squad four years ago to promote wearing the veil. It now has nearly 6,000 members with chapters across Indonesia and in Malaysia and Taiwan.

“We really want to go to heaven, and so we sacrifice,” Ms Indadari explained at a Niqab Squad equestrian and archery event near Jakarta. “Part of our sacrifice is not showing our beauty and covering our body in an Islamic way,” she said.”

“Forces from the Iran-backed Houthi militias on Tuesday blocked a UN-chartered ship carrying representatives of the internationally recognized government from leaving Hodeidah port, the government and a source familiar with the matter said, according to Reuters.

The ship was prevented from leaving for a second time by the militias, government-run SABA news agency said.

The ship had been scheduled to sail on Tuesday morning for the government-controlled port of Mokha to drop off government representatives who two weeks ago suspended their participation in a UN-mediated joint negotiating team discussing a truce and troop redeployment from the contested port city of Hodeidah.

The United Nations has been holding meetings between the warring parties on board the ship for months.

Houthi officials did not respond to a Reuters request for comment and the UN was not immediately available to comment.”

  13. New Wave of Houthi Death Sentences Target 40 Soldiers, Lawmakers
    https://aawsat.com/english/home/article/2197076/new-wave-houthi-death-sentences-target-40-soldiers-lawmakers

“A court controlled by Iran-backed Houthis sentenced 40 pro-government parliamentarians and military officers to death and confiscated their properties, said judicial sources in Sanaa, Yemen. A Yemeni human rights organization also accused Houthis of committing 240 violations in March 2020.

Abdul Basit Ghazi, a local lawyer, said that Specialized Criminal Court in Sanaa handed down the verdicts on members of the Yemeni Parliament and military officers charged with treason for supporting the internationally recognized government and military operations by the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen.

The Houthi rulings came days after issuing verdicts for the execution of 19 Yemeni military leaders, including Yemeni Vice President Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar.

Houthis had previously sentenced to death 35 deputies in the Yemeni parliament and confiscated their property, and issued hundreds of death sentences against political activists who opposed the Iran-backed group since its coup in September 2014.

Last Sunday, the same court upheld a verdict to execute the leader of the Bahai religious minority in a move reflecting the Iran-backed group’s exploitation of the judiciary in areas under its control.

The verdict supports the confiscation of the properties of Hamed bin Haydarah and the closure and confiscation of the Bahai community’s offices in the country.

Since they took over Sanaa by force, Houthi militias have used their courts in Sanaa to issue hundreds of death sentences against their political, military, and sectarian opponents.

Yemeni human rights activists and international organizations accuse the Houthi group of sectarian targeting of opponents in Yemen.

The Information and Rehabilitation Center for Human Rights, a non-governmental civil society organization based in Taiz, demanded the liberation of the judiciary from the grip of Houthi militia in Sanaa.

The center also called on the United Nations and the Security Council to quickly intervene to stop Houthi crimes and any executions, in addition to the systematic group violations of the judiciary in Yemen.”

  14. German Army Translator Receives Prison Sentence over Spying for Iran
    https://aawsat.com/english/home/article/2196781/german-army-translator-receives-prison-sentence-over-spying-iran

“A German-Afghan translator for the German army has been sentenced to six years and 10 months in prison for treason after he was found guilty of having spied for Iran in exchange for money.

Judges found that Abdul S., 51, had “passed on state secrets of a military nature to an employee of an Iranian intelligence service” in a “particularly serious case of treason”, the higher regional court in Koblenz said in a statement on Monday.

His German-Afghan wife Asiea S., 40, convicted of having aided and abetted treason and was handed a suspended sentence of 10 months, AFP reported.

Kabul-born Abdul S. worked for several years as a civilian translator and cultural adviser to the German Bundeswehr at the Heinrich-Hertz barracks in the town of Daun, near Koblenz.

The court found that he had met with Iranian intelligence contacts in different European cities on “at least eight” occasions between 2013 and 2017.

At those meetings, he had passed on information including “German army maps about military situations” and “defence ministry analyses of particular countries and topics”.

He reportedly earned 34,500 euros for his espionage before deciding to break off contact. His wife supported him from 2016 onwards by helping him with “logistical” matters such as travel arrangements, the court said.

Treason usually means a sentence of at least 15 years in Germany, but the judges took into account that both defendants had confessed to their crimes and had no previous convictions, the court said.

Abdul S. was arrested in January 2019, reportedly after a tip-off from abroad and an sting operation to catch him in the act.

The trial, which kicked off in January, took place largely behind closed doors and was covered by strict and rarely used confidentiality procedures to protect state secrecy.

Germany’s BfV domestic intelligence agency has identified Iran has one of the countries most active in spying on Germany, along with China and Russia.

In 2018, Germany arrested a Vienna-based Iranian diplomat suspected of being a spy.

Prosecutors alleged he was plotting with a Belgium-based couple to bomb an Iranian opposition rally in Paris.”

The Libya Observer reported that the case involved a 73-year-old man who arrived from Saudi Arabia via Tunisia around two weeks ago.

Libya, which has been mired in chaos since the 2011 overthrow of longtime autocrat Muammar Gaddafi, is divided between the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord and a rival administration in the east which backs military commander Khalifa Haftar.

Both administrations have imposed lockdowns, stopped foreign travel and promised resources for the health service in a bid to help prevent the spread of the disease.

“A cargo ship carrying vital supplies of rubbing alcohol intended for Tunisia was pirated at sea, Tunisian Trade Minister Mohamed Msilini said in a local TV interview.

In a segment broadcast on Tunisian TV Channel Elhiwar Ettounsi Monday, Msilini said a ship heading to the country with the precious cargo “was stolen.”

The shipment contained an alcohol-based ingredient used to manufacture sanitisers, but it never made it to Tunisia, according to the minister.

His comments came in response to a series of questions on initiatives aimed at alleviating the country’s shortage of sanitising products during the current coronavirus outbreak.

    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20200324-eu-asks-greece-to-move-migrants-most-at-risk-from-coronavirus-out-of-crowded-camps/

“The European Union has asked Greece to move migrants most at risk of contracting the coronavirus from overcrowded camps on its Mediterranean islands, the EU’s top migration official told Reuters on Tuesday.

Home Affairs Commissioner Ylva Johansson said Athens had opposed moving the migrants to the Greek mainland, citing the absence of coronavirus cases in the camps while the disease is spreading elsewhere in Greece.

With much of Europe in lockdown under measures to curb the spread of the virus, Johansson said the elderly, sick and others most at risk of infection could be moved to other areas on the Greek islands.

“We are working together with the Greek government and the Greek authorities to agree on an emergency plan to help reduce the risk as much as possible in the overcrowded hotspots on the islands,” Johansson said in a telephone interview.

“It could be relocation of the most vulnerable individuals from the overcrowded camps to other areas on the islands.”

The situation in the camps is dire at the best of times. They are designed for several thousand people but the European Commission, the EU executive, says they house about 42,000.

Rights groups frequently sound the alarm about conditions that aggravate the suffering of people mainly fleeing war and poverty in the Middle East and Africa, and looking for better lives in Europe.

The situation has become even more tense since Greece last week imposed restrictions on the movement of people living in the camps to combat the spread of the coronavirus.

“Thousands of people, including older people, those with chronic diseases, children… pregnant women, new mothers, and people with disabilities, are trapped in dangerously overcrowded, deplorable conditions on the islands amid the COVID-19 pandemic,” Human Rights Watch said on Tuesday, referring to the illness that the coronavirus can cause.

“Forcing asylum seekers to remain in conditions that violate their rights and are harmful to their well-being, health, and dignity cannot be justified on grounds of public health,” the New York-based group said in a statement.

Greece has said it receives insufficient EU help in caring for the migrants arriving across the Mediterranean from Turkey, which has recently allowed more refugees and migrants, many of them from Syria, to leave its territory for Europe.

To assuage both Athens and Ankara, the EU promised earlier this month to take in some 1,600 unaccompanied children from the camps. Johansson said that has not happened yet and that Greek authorities still needed to identify the minors.

  26. BREITBART – Thousands to Attend Terrorist Funeral in Coronavirus-Ravaged Iran

ran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) hosted a funeral attracting thousands for Hossein Assadollahi, a senior terrorist leader and veteran of the Iran-Iraq war, on Monday.

Photos and video of the ceremony – which attracted notably minimal attention in Iranian state media outlets like PressTV, the Fars News Agency, and others – show mourners tightly packed in public spaces, a prime location to infect a large number of people with a contagious disease. As the world faces a pandemic caused by the Chinese coronavirus originating in central Wuhan, public health experts have universally agreed that “social distancing” – avoiding contact with individuals as much as possible and abstaining from organizing into large groups – is necessary to slow the rate of infection of the coronavirus so as to not overwhelm the world’s healthcare systems.[…]

Assadollahi reportedly died last Friday; the Iranian regime announced his death was a result of “a long battle with health complaints caused by chemical weapons during the Iran-Iraq war of 1980s,” according to the Kurdish outlet Rudaw. Rudaw notes that, while the death notice did not mention the spread of the Chinese coronavirus, exposure to chemical weapons debilitates the lungs and those with preexisting health conditions are far more vulnerable to serious illness and death if infected.

The funeral flooded the streets of Vardavard, near Tehran, and featured a procession largely composed of IRGC terrorists and civilians likely forced out of their homes to participate. […]

  27. Revolution Chemnitz: Right-wing German terror group handed jail terms
    https://www.dw.com/en/revolution-chemnitz-right-wing-german-terror-group-handed-jail-terms/a-52903660

“Eight men were found guilty of being members of a terrorist organization for their involvement in the group “Revolution Chemnitz.” The men planned to launch a civil-war-like revolt in Berlin before they were caught.

Eight members of the neo-Nazi group “Revolution Chemnitz” were sentenced to several years in prison by a court in eastern Germany on Tuesday.

In their ruling, the Higher Regional Court in Dresden agreed with prosecutors that the group constituted a terrorist organization.

The ringleader, Christian K., was handed the longest sentence —five years and six months — for founding and being a member of a terrorist group.

The other defendants were sentenced to two years and three months in prison for taking part in “Revolution Chemnitz.” Five of them were also found guilty of severely disturbing the peace, while another was also sentenced for aggravated assault.

The men, aged 22 to 32, allegedly lead the skinhead, hooligan and neo-Nazi scenes in the eastern German city of Chemnitz.

    What is ‘Revolution Chemnitz’?

The group formed in Chemnitz September 2018, in the aftermath of anti-immigrant protests that engulfed the eastern German city.

According to prosecutors, Christian K. invited the other seven members to an online chat where he then posted a document outlining what he wanted the group to achieve.

None of the members objected to the plans, which essentially outlined a call for violent action against “leftists, parasites, Merkel zombies, media dictators and their slaves.”

The group allegedly planned to orchestrate a civil-war-like rebellion in Berlin on October 2, 2018. Prosecutors based their charges partly on the use of chat logs found on the defendants’ mobile phones.

The members of the group were caught by police during a so-called “practice-run” in mid-September when they attacked refugees and a group of young people — one of whom was beaten.

The trial went ahead on Tuesday despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, since any interruption of proceedings lasting longer than 10 days would have forced the trial to start over from the beginning.”

Nearly 100 Chadian troops were killed in an attack by Boko Haram militants, President Idriss Deby Itno said on Tuesday. The seven-hour assault on an island army base was the deadliest yet by the Islamist terrorist group against the armed forces in Chad.

“We lost 92 of our soldiers, noncommissioned officers and officers,” in the attack overnight Sunday in Boma, Deby said. “It’s the first time we have lost so many men.”

The attack took place on the Boma Peninsula, in Lac province, which borders Niger and Nigeria.

Even the reinforcements sent in to help were targeted, a soldier told AFP.
