The coming chaos is going to change a lot of minds about owning firearms.
Which will be first? Martial law or civil war? They may yet dance together. Get armed and prepare to defend yourselves!
Probably Civil War, some of the Governors may call out the guard to put down a riot but full fledged Martial Law requires that all of the local governments, State, County and City have lost all control. If/when that happens the Federal Government can declare Martial Law. The Posse Commitus law of (i think)1878 puts a lot of hoops in place before Martial Law can be declared. I have friends who are constantly want to know when Trump is going to send in the Military (regulars) and I keep telling them that the law forbids using regulars except in very limited cases. He can use the Engineers to put up the tent hospitals (this would probably be the Corps of Engineers that maintain the levees and such on the rivers) and a limited amount of various types of troops for support duty. I think he can send in the medical corps to help but only if the local medical facilities are overwhelmed.
