Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Canada mulling deportation of female Afghan doctor who conducted virginity tests
    https://www.khaama.com/canada-mulling-deportation-of-female-afghan-doctor-who-conducted-virginity-tests-04504/

“Thee Canadian Immigration authorities are mulling deportation of a female doctor who conducted virginity tests on women in Afghanistan.

According to local media reports, the authorities are arguing that the actions of the doctor a crime against humanity.

The doctor, Saida Ahmadi reportedly conducted the virginity tests on women in a hospital in the North of Afghanistan. She made a refugee claim after arriving in Canada in 2017.

During her interviews with the Canadian Immigration officials, Ahmadi has admitted that she conducted virginity tests as part of her duties, they were not routine.

Meanwhile, the Immigration and Refugee Board has ruled that although the tests were “part of the systematic oppression of women in Afghanistan,” they were not a crime against humanity, according to Global News.

The IRB’s Immigration Appeal Division ruled that Ahmadi did not make a significant contribution to “the systems in Afghanistan which oppress women.”

However, the Federal Court of Canada overturned the IRB Appeal Division decision in February, sending the matter back to the refugee board for re-examination.

The Federal Court found the IRB made the decision through a process that “breached the principals of natural justice and procedural fairness.””

“French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday said that the coronavirus epidemic was France’s worst health crisis in a century and announced that schools throughout the country would close from next week.

Creches, schools and also universities would close from Monday “until further notice”, Macron said in an address to the nation on the fight against the coronavirus. He also urged all people older than 70, those who suffer chronic diseases, respiratory troubles and the handicapped, “to stay at home” if possible.

But the president also said that nationwide local elections scheduled for Sunday will not be postponed.

“We are just at the beginning of this crisis,” Macron said.

“In spite of all our efforts to break it, this virus is continuing to propagate and to accelerate.”

As for the elections, Macron said he had consulted scientists and other experts who were of the opinion that “there is nothing to prevent the French, even the most vulnerable, from going to the ballot box.”

The French president said Europe will have to react “fast, and strongly” to “relaunch” the economy in the wake of the epidemic, adding that any steps to close borders will have to be jointly decided “at the European level”.

He said the measures against the virus were needed so that “we continue to win time against this epidemic” which he emphasised “has no passport”.”

The Vox party leader confirmed his diagnosis via social media after one of his MPs also tested positive.

“Upon learning of Javier Ortega’s positive result, I self quarantined and asked a private laboratory for a COVID-19 test,” he wrote.

“The test has also tested positive so I will continue to work from home.”

It comes after footage showed Ortega coughing next to Abascal during a Vox party conference in Madrid on Sunday.

  5. Top Secret Intelligence Committee Claims Threat of Foreign Meddling Against Canada Is ‘Real’
    https://sputniknews.com/world/202003131078551896-top-secret-intelligence-committee-says-threat-of-foreign-meddling-against-canada-is-real/

“The top-secret National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians (NSICOP) has called for a cross-government strategy in its annual report to tackle a possible threat of foreign interference.

According to the document, the threat of foreign meddling in Canada’s domestic affairs remains high and authorities need to ramp up efforts to thwart alleged interference.

“The government must do better […] The threat is real, if often hidden. If it is not addressed in a comprehensive, whole-of-government approach, foreign interference will slowly erode the foundations of our fundamental institutions, including our system of democracy itself”, the NSICOP report said.
The report details “traditional” interference as person-to-person interaction. In this particular case, most of the co-ordination is being done on a case-by-case basis, between departments or agencies that have varying interpretations of the gravity of the threat.

The document does not, however, describe election interference or cyber threats, although Canadian authorities expect a comprehensive review of the issue soon.

The report, meanwhile, alleges that China and Russia are attempting to meddle in Canadian affairs.

“Some foreign states conduct sophisticated and pervasive foreign interference activities against Canada […] Those activities pose a significant risk to national security”, the report claimed.
NSICOP said in its report that Canadian lawmakers must exercise discretion and caution with whom they meet, while remembering the risks of interference and extremism.

The document also noted that Canada is an “attractive and permissive target”.

According to committee chair David McGuinty, cited by the CTVNews broadcaster, it is “time to up our game”, after finding “ample evidence” that Ottawa is not doing enough cross-agency collaboration in the government.”
