Defense Department Linguist Charged with Espionage
Mariam Taha Thompson, 61, formerly of Rochester, Minnesota, was charged today in the District of Columbia with transmitting highly sensitive classified national defense information to a foreign national with apparent connections to Hizballah, a foreign terrorist organization that has been so designated by the Secretary of State. According to the affidavit filed in support of a criminal complaint, the information Thompson gathered and transmitted included classified national defense information regarding active human assets, including their true names. By compromising the identities of these human assets, Thompson placed the lives of the human assets and U.S. military personnel in grave danger.
The announcement was made by John C. Demers, the Assistant Attorney General for National Security; Timothy J. Shea, the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia; Robert Wells, Acting Assistant Director of the FBI’s Counterintelligence Division; and Timothy R. My opinion is that we say NO as we did many years ago… and rally for European US and international support and if necessary fight. But.. war is war. There is a good chance we bend once more to turkey. This is a clear and present danger. What I was saying earlier has become real. This is not a journalist who wrote this. It is a military general.

Hand wringing in the face of a bully makes for sure defeat. Enemies within the gates (Erdogan’s paramilitary forces embedded in Europe) can be dealt with if martial law is declared in those countries most infested. The sooner countries realize this is not a police matter, the better. So much depends on the level of awareness of the citizenry. Serbia is undoubtedly measuring its survival odds between pleasing the EU for admittance to the EU, and preventing being overrun by migrants. Serbia’s decisions will have some bearing on the level of this summer’s assaults on the V4 southern border. What a mess.
I’m with you. How I hope the EU doesn’t fold on Turkey. If they do, they’ll never win another confrontation with Turkey.

Delhi Riots: Politician Tahir Hussain Accused of Murder Arrested in Court (sputniknews, Mar 5, 2020)
https://sputniknews.com/india/202003051078480723-delhi-riots-politician-tahir-hussain-accused-of-murder-arrested-in-court/
“Politician from Delhi’s ruling Aam Aadmi Party Tahir Hussain was suspended from the party after charges were levelled against him on suspicion of murder of Intelligence Bureau (IB) member Ankit Sharma on 24 February.
Since absconding for days after northeast Delhi witnessed communal violence, suspended AAP politician Tahir Hussain appeared at the city’s Rouse Avenue Court to surrender himself to authorities on Thursday.
Delhi police arrested Hussain after the court dismissed his plea seeking surrender.
Hussain stands accused of the murder of Intelligence Bureau official Ankit Sharma, whose body was found dumped in a drain in northeast Delhi’s Jaffrabad with around 400 stab wounds.
A First Information Report (FIR) was registered against Hussain, who was suspended by the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP after the family of 26-year-old deceased Sharma levelled allegations against him of murdering Sharma on a complaint filed by the victim’s father.
The Delhi Police had earlier said that Hussain had gone on the lam along with his family and had switched off his cell phone.
Delhi saw the worst communal violence in decades from 23-25 February that left 47 people dead and 350 injured in the Hindu-Muslim clashes. The riots marked a dramatic escalation of months-long protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) after supporters and opponents of the law started pelting stones at each other and turned the demonstration into a bloodbath in no time.
The citizenship law passed by the federal government will facilitate obtaining Indian citizenship for illegal immigrants from such religious groups as Hindus, Sikhs, Parsis, Christians, Jains, and Buddhists. It, however, excludes Muslims, which is viewed as discriminatory in the community.
The government has time and again reiterated that no Indian citizen should worry about the law, as it gives citizenship to immigrants and does not take it away from anyone.”

Turkey to Deploy Special Forces to Greek Border to Prevent Athens Pushing Migrants Back – Minister (sputniknews, Mar 5, 2020)
https://sputniknews.com/world/202003051078482114-turkey-to-deploy-special-forces-to-greek-border-to-prevent-athens-pushing-migrants-back-minister/
“A migration crisis on the Turkish-Greek border erupted after Ankara announced it would no longer be preventing refugees from going through its territory to Europe in violation of previous agreements with the EU.
Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu has announced that Ankara will deploy 1,000 special operations police officers at the border with the EU to prevent migrants from coming back. He added that the EU border security agency, Frontex, had pushed around 4,900 migrants back to Turkey injuring 164 in the process.
“Turkey will deploy 1,000 special operations police officers to prevent migrant pushback at the border”, the minister said as quoted in the newspaper Daily Sabah.
The measure comes as a response to a decision by the EU to push back the new wave of migrants mainly coming from Syria’s Idlib Province via Turkey and trying to force their way through the Greek border.
“The Greek worries are our worries”, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said after visiting the border. She added that migrants “have been lured through false promises into this situation”.
Since the migrant crisis on the Turkish-Greek border started, Athens has prevented nearly 35,000 migrants from crossing into the country. It also promised to deport the hundreds of those, who made it to the other side, in the near future.
The new wave of migrants started pouring into Turkey after the situation deteriorated in Syria’s Idlib Province, which is mostly occupied by militants and terrorists. Turkish forces started a military operation in the province against the Syrian Army further worsening the situation.
In light of the refugee influx, Ankara announced that it will no longer be preventing migrants from trying to make it to Europe, thus violating a 2016 agreement with the EU.
Under this accord, Turkey promised to prevent new migrants from crossing into Europe via its territory and accommodate them, while Brussels paid billions of euros to Ankara for hosting them.”
Greek border forces gave the stick to refugees take their clothes, and then send them back to Turkey.

Hungary Vows It Will Protect Europe from Illegal Mass Migration, Again (breitbart, Mar 5, 2020)
https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/03/05/hungary-vows-it-will-protect-europe-illegal-mass-migration-again/
“Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has said that his country will defend Europe against a wave of illegal mass migration as it had done in 2015 during the first migrant crisis.
Speaking to the media at a press conference on Wednesday, Prime Minister Orbán said while his country and the EU should “give all the help we can” to Greece to stop the migrant flows, “It won’t be enough just to defend the Greek-Turkish border.”
“As a last resort, as in 2015, there are the Hungarians,” he said during the summit with leaders of the three other central European Visegrád countries, adding: “Even if Greece’s attempt is successful, the EU border must be defended… which Hungary will do.”
Last week, Ankara broke the 2015 agreement with Brussels in which it would stop the illegal flow of migrants through Turkey in exchange for money and continuing EU accession talks, and opened the gates which resulted in thousands of migrants amassing on the near-east country’s land border with Greece. The migrants are reportedly from Syria, Afghanistan, and Iraq.
Turkey’s Islamist president, Recep Tayyip Erdo?an, declared on Monday that “the doors are now open”, telling the EU “to take your share of the burden”. There are some 3.6 million migrants living in Turkey.
Over the weekend, unmarked white coaches were seen driving migrants from Istanbul to the border with Greece, free of charge. People smugglers in the border region have said that they have been given free rein by Erdo?an’s government, with one telling media that it was his patriotic duty to get migrants out of Turkey so that his country’s economy can improve.
Greece was the main entry point into Europe for Middle Eastern migrants and asylum seekers during the 2015 migrant crisis, which saw hundreds of thousands march along what became known as the Balkan route, through Hungary, and onwards to wealthy, northern-European countries like Germany and Sweden that have generous welfare packages.
Hungary vowed to stop the flows into Europe by building a border fence, increasing border guard patrols, and enacting zero-tolerance on illegal migrants. A report from September 2017 revealed that the central European nation’s common sense approach to stopping mass migration worked, slashing illegal immigration by 99 per cent, the numbers falling from 391,000 in 2015, to just 1,184 in 2017.
A leaked report from Frontex, the EU’s border agency, warned of “mass migration flows” to Greece that will be “difficult to stop” this time around. European leaders like Greece’s Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Austria’s Chancellor Sebastian Kurz have called Turkey’s action an attack on Greece and Europe. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen visited the border with Turkey and said that the bloc would show “solidarity” with Greece.
The word “solidarity” in the EU has become tainted for Conservatives and populists, owing to it evoking the response of Brussels and Berlin to the 2015 crisis. After German Chancellor Angela Merkel flung open the doors of Europe to unlimited migrants, she then demanded other countries — who had not been party to the decision to suspend asylum rules in the first place — show their ‘European solidarity’ and take their ‘fair share’ of migrants. If member states did not, the EU threatened punishment. The ultimatum caused a rift in the EU between Western and Eastern Europe, with countries like Hungary and Poland flatly rejecting asylum seekers.
While Brussels and the bloc’s liberal-progressive members have pushed for an EU-wide asylum policy — which seeks to dole out arrivals to member states and fails to increase security — Hungary has said the superstate should instead take her lead and fortify Europe’s external borders as well as focusing on supporting refugees in their own countries and regions.
–Hungary suspends admission of illegals to transit area due to threat of coronavirus —
On top of the new migrant crisis, Europe is also grappling with the threat of the China-origin coronavirus. Hungary has changed its already robust asylum rules in light of the spreading virus, with the country’s national security advisor Gyorgy Bakondi announcing on Sunday that because of the related risks of uncontrolled movements of people and infection, “Hungary has indefinitely suspended access to border transit areas for asylum seekers”.
“We observe a certain link between coronavirus and illegal migrants,” Mr Bakondi said in comments reported by euronews.
The national security adviser continued that there is particular concern over illegals arriving from, or who have travelled, through Iran, a virus epicentre.
In the UK, the number of confirmed cases has jumped to 85. The situation is worse in Italy, where some 2,260 people have contracted coronavirus and there have been 80 deaths. On Wednesday, the Italian government announced that schools will be closed in an attempt to halt the spread of the deadly virus.”
Hungary seen breaking EU rules with education law amendments (abcnews, Mar 5, 2020)
https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/hungary-breaking-eu-rules-education-law-amendments-69407533
“Changes by Hungary to its law on higher education which effectively forced a university founded by George Soros to leave the country were not in line with European Union law, according to an opinion issued Thursday by the bloc’s highest court.
The opinion also said the EU’s executive Commission should uphold its action against Hungary to ensure that the amendments approved by Hungarian legislators in 2017 comply with EU rules.
Among the changes, Hungary tied the operation of foreign universities in Hungary to a bilateral agreement between the Hungarian government and the universities’ country of origin. Foreign universities were also compelled to carry out educational activities in their home countries.
At the heart of the conflict is the fate of Central European University, established in New York state by Soros, a Hungarian-American financier. It had to relocate most of its main activities to Vienna from Budapest, where it had been operating since the early 1990s.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has been a vocal critic of Soros for years, arguing that the billionaire philanthropist is intent on undermining European values with his liberal views on migration, claims Soros has denied. Orban’s ideological aim of creating an “illiberal state” is also in contrast with Soros’ ideal of an “open society.”
In light of his views on Soros, the amendments were widely seen as targeting CEU. The Court of Justice of the European Union said CEU was “the only foreign higher education institution then active in Hungary which did not meet the new requirements.”
The EU Commission launched an infringement procedure in April 2017 against Hungary in the wake of the changes. It subsequently referred Hungary to the Court of Justice in December 2017.
The Hungarian government refused to sign an agreement with New York state regarding CEU and also rejected CEU’s educational activities in New York, established through partner institution Bard College.
According to Thursday’s nonbinding opinion by Advocate General Juliane Kokott, Hungary must “treat foreign and national higher education institutions equally” and the amendments in question are incompatible with the General Agreement on Trade in Services, or GATS, which is part of EU law, and with the EU’s Charter of Fundamental Rights.
The EU’s Court of Justice, based in Luxembourg, is beginning its deliberations over the case. While it is not forced to follow the opinion of the Advocate General, the court’s rulings are often similar to the opinions.”
Another test of sovereignty. Who is the EU to impose itself? At the core of the CEU is the unwanted postmodern curriculum designed to destroy all rising generations in the name of Neo-Marxism. Does Hungary really needs Phd grads in Chinese Women’s studies, or any socialist philosophy? Does anyone?
Top international court authorizes investigation into Afghanistan conflict war crimes (abcnews, Mar 5, 2020)
https://abcnews.go.com/International/top-international-court-authorizes-investigation-afghanistan-conflict-war/story?id=69406634
“The International Criminal Court has authorized an independent investigation into allegations of war crimes committed by all sides in the Afghanistan conflict after an appeal overturned a previous decision to block the probe on Thursday.
The investigation will look into the actions of the principal actors in the conflict in Afghanistan since May 2003 — mainly the Taliban, U.S. forces and the Afghanistan government.
In 2016, the ICC published a report which said there was a “reasonable basis” to believe that the Taliban and their affiliates had committed “crimes against humanity,” and that on the other side of the conflict, U.S. military forces and the Afghan government are accused of “war crimes of torture and related ill-treatment.”
The decision to proceed with the investigation, which has been advocated the ICC’s chief prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda, overturned a judgment last year which said an investigation would “not serve the interests of justice.”
The Office of the Prosecutor is now authorized to “to independently, impartially and objectively investigate and prosecute alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity, committed in the context of the conflict in Afghanistan.”
Bensouda had her U.S. visa revoked last year, after Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that visas would be denied to ICC staff involved in investigations against U.S. forces, according to Reuters.
The ICC, dubbed the “world’s first permanent international criminal court” is an independent body that seeks to complement national courts in trying individuals charged with genocide and war crimes.
In total, 123 countries are state parties to the ICC, including Afghanistan. However, the U.S. is a notable absentee from the court’s remit.
The ruling comes less than a week after the U.S. and Taliban signed a historic agreement to withdraw American troops from the conflict in Afghanistan, in exchange for the Taliban cutting ties with terror groups and entering into peace negotiations with the Afghan government.
A recent escalation in violence has cast doubt over the fate of that agreement, however, as U.S. forces launched an airstrike against Taliban soldiers on Wednesday, as fighters from the militant group were “actively attacking” an Afghan government checkpoint.
Colonel Sonny Legget, the spokesman for American forces in Afghanistan, accused the Taliban of carrying out 43 attacks on government checkpoints on March 3 alone, and called on the Taliban to “stop needless attacks” and “uphold their commitments” in the aftermath of the historic agreement.
That airstrike came just a day after President Trump spoke to Abdul Ghani Baradar, the co-founder and a senior leader in the Taliban, by phone, in the first known conversation between a U.S. president and the militant group.”
POLAND SHOWS WHY THE JIHAD HASN’T TOUCHED IT
video – 2 minutes 20 seconds
Interestingly enough there are similar statistics found in other Eastern European nations like Austria, Hungary, and Romania. While the EU has tried to force a general opening of all member state borders to migrants, the eastern countries have successfully resisted. This has done two things. First it has protected the Eastern countries from being overwhelmed by migrants that have no cultural connection to their potential host nations. Secondly it has begun to create a schism in the EU itself. Phil Schneider

About that AK being fired in Rotterdam during NYE:
https://nltimes.nl/2020/03/04/ak47-fired-rotterdam-residential-neighborhood-new-years
A video showing a man firing an AK47 in a residential neighborhood in Rotterdam Zuid over New Year’s led to the arrests of two men for illegal
firearm possession, the police said in a statement. The video was found on a phone confiscated for another investigation.
The video shows a man shooting the automatic rifle in the air with fireworks going off in the background. The residents of the Rotterdam neighborhood
seemingly did not notice the gunshots due to the fireworks being lit by others.
On Monday, February 24, a team of investigators searched two homes in Beverwaard. They seized an AK47, a Russian machine gun, a Glock with drum
holder, and associated ammunition in one of the homes.
Two Rotterdam residents, aged 19 and 21, were arrested for illegal firearm possession. They were both arraigned last week Wednesday. The older
suspect was remanded into custody for further investigation. The younger suspect was released, but remains a suspect.
The police also identified the man firing the gun in the video. The 28-year-old man from Rotterdam was already in custody for another offense. He is
now also a suspect in this crime, the police said.

March 3 2020 Dutch aid workers in hiding after Lesbos attack
https://nltimes.nl/2020/03/03/dutch-aid-workers-hiding-lesbos-attack
Dutch aid workers from foundation Bootvluchteling are in hiding after they were attacked on the Greek island of Lesbos. “During an evacuation of colleagues in the [refugee] camp, we were driven into a kind of trap. We were attacked with steel tubes and our cars were attacked,” one aid worker said to NOS.
“It is currently not safe as an aid worker on Lesbos”, the aid worker, who asked to remain anonymous for their own safety, said to the broadcaster.
According to the aid worker, there is a group of right wing extremists who have taken matters into their own hands. They set up roadblocks and use violence in a much more targeted way than before, both against refugees, and against aid workers and journalists, the aid worker said. “The police do not have enough manpower to intervene.”
Around 20 thousand people live in the Moria refugee camp on Lesbos, seven times more than the camp was designed for. And the number of asylum seekers showing up on the island by boat is only increasing. The situation has been causing increased tensions on the island for months.
Over the weekend, local residents tried to prevent boats carrying asylum seekers from landing at the island. Over the past weeks, dozens of people have been injured in various confrontations between residents and the police.
March 4 2020 MP not prosecuted for calling civilian casualties in Iraq bombing “murder”
https://nltimes.nl/2020/03/04/mp-prosecuted-calling-civilian-casualties-iraq-bombing-murder
DENK parliamentarian Selçuk Öztürk will not be prosecuted for calling the deaths of Iraqi civilians during two bombings carried out by Dutch F-16 fighter jets “murder” in a parliamentary debate late last year. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) concluded that he had done nothing punishable, AD reports.
Over 600 soldiers and veterans filed reports against Öztürk, accusing him of sowing hatred, insult and defamation.
Öztürk made his remark during a debate in the Tweede Kamer, the lower house of Dutch parliament, about two bombings in Iraq in which over 70 civilians were killed. Kamer president Khadija Arib asked him to take the statement back, but he refused. The surviving relatives also speak of murder, he said.
In a letter to Öztürk’s lawyer, the OM now said that the parliamentarian cannot be prosecuted. As he made the statement during a parliamentary debate, he enjoys parliamentary immunity.
Fellow DENK MP Farid Azarkan repeated the statement on television later that evening. She will also not be prosecuted, the OM decided. According to the OM, the statement was “offensive”, but not “unnecessarily offensive” and therefore not punishable.

Swedish Populist Leader Hands Out ‘Sweden Is Full’ Flyers in Turkey (breitbart, Mar 5, 2020)
https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/03/05/swedish-populist-leader-hands-out-sweden-is-full-flyers-turkey/
“Populist Sweden Democrat (SD) leader Jimmie Åkesson appeared along the Turkish border with Greece this week to hand out flyers to migrants stating “Sweden is full”.
Åkesson, alongside his Chief of Staff Mikael Eriksson, met with migrants on the Turkish side of the border and travelled to the town of Edirne to get their own first-hand view of the situation following Turkey’s opening of the border last week.
Both men proceeded to hand out English-language flyers to the migrants that stated: “Sweden is full. Don’t come to us! We can’t give you more money or provide housing. Sorry about this message.” It was signed by “the people of Sweden, Sweden Democrats”.
“Above all, the visit is about forming your own picture of what the situation is,” Åkesson said in comments reported by Nyheter Idag. He added: “Both by looking with our own eyes and by talking to migrants and police. We also handed out flyers with the message that Sweden is full.”
The SD leader went on to say that he observed a “constant flow” of migrants and that they told him Sweden, Germany, and France were most mentioned as the target countries for the migrants.
“The EU’s external border was tested in 2015 and collapsed. We can’t just rely on it,” he said and called for Sweden to also increase support for controlling its own border.
Following the order from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to open the gates to Europe for migrants last week, Turkey’s interior minister has claimed that as many as 100,000 migrants have travelled to the border with Grece in recent days.
European leaders like Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz have made it clear they do not want a repeat of the 2015 migrant crisis, while tensions remain high on the Greco-Turkish border with violent clashes taking place between Greek authorities and migrants.
Earlier this week, Greek armed forces conducted live-fire drills at the Evros land border with Turkey as conservative Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said he would not be “blackmailed” by the Turkish government.”
