You look up in the sky, see a constellation, and you point upwards to show your kids. Along comes a park ranger demanding to see your Stargazing Permit, and issues you a citation because you didn’t know you needed such a permit.
That’s right, the state of New York is now demanding us peasants give them money so we can look up at the sky.
(It may not be as screwy as it looks. The permit is apparently so you can go into parks and so on after dark after they are closed. I can sort of see how that makes the parks safer for people who want to enjoy the night sky, especially in sanctuary cities.)

3. Man receives five-year jail sentence after young girl forced into sex trade
TORONTO — A Newmarket judge has sentenced a 26-year-old man to five years in prison after he was found guilty of forcing a young girl to work in the sex trade four years ago.
York Regional Police said that one person had been taken into custody in 2016 after officers determined that a girl under the age of 18 was being forced to work in the sex trade between the months of July and October.
Ferhat Tekin was charged with a number of offences in connection with the incident, including trafficking a person under 18, making child pornography, obtaining sex services and distributing child pornography.
On Sept. 24, 2019, he was found guilty of those charges.
Tekin received his sentence Thursday at the Ontario Court of Justice in New Market, police said.

4. Three charged following Hay River drug trafficking investigation
Three people are facing trucking trafficking-related charges after an investigation led by Hay River RCMP turned up illicit drugs and cash.
Hay River RCMP, along with members of the Yellowknife RCMP, arrested nine people in Hay River on Jan. 23, according to a news release issued by RCMP Monday.
Cash and “illicit street drugs” were seized as a result, states the news release.
Six of the nine individuals arrested have since been released as police continue to investigate, say RCMP.

Hubert Wagner, you make a valid point. Ezra’s willingness to engage in battle makes him both heroic and vulnerable. The mistake he makes is calling his situation Kafkaesque, which is to say it resembles absurdist fiction. This it is not. Rather, it is more accurately neither fiction nor absurd. It is the forming Soviet reality of a formerly-free nation, captured now by Neo-Marxist globalist forces. Emboldened by a spectacularly pliable, docile populace, these forces make strategic moves both furtively and in broad daylight. From purchasing the integrity of media with taxpayer money, to signing the country up to bankruptcy via bogus anthropogenic climate-change policies, the dystopian-like endeavors of a supranational elite now in control of this country and very serious.

I agree. It’s always a mistake to talk to the police. Any word can be misconstrued and then they go on a fishing expedition and deep in the hole you go. You end up needing a lawyer.

Kafkaesque is precisely the right term. Read or watch ‘The Trial’, it matches closely Ezra’s situation. From cops on the beat, using ‘powers’ they don’t in fact have, to high courts inventing infringements of non-existent laws, the criminal justice system has turned inside-out.
