1. If I were Tulsi Gabbard, I would talk to an insurance agent before I showed by face in public again.

2. Terence Corcoran: Unfund the CBC, Canada’s Pravda and national enforcer of truth

(And that is coming from the Doxxing, National Post who doesn’t hesitate to slander conservatives. But as far as we know, they don’t take government funds. So that’s a huge step up. If you have biases, pay for them yourselves)

The idea the CBC is an essential disseminator of some higher truth is the starting point for a national campaign for more government funding of journalism

In the unctuous style of the four-anchor team at the CBC’s flagship evening news report, The National, two of the anchors — Adrienne Arsenault and Andrew Chang — for some time have been promoting their program on CBC radio with a short promotional commercial. One expects a commercial to be self-promoting, but this one gets a little too enthusiastic when Chang tells listeners that The National’s role is “to assure that you always know the truth.”

Catherine Tait, the public broadcaster’s CEO, said last year that the CBC “will be a beacon for truth and trust in the face of an information disorder cacophony that puts our democracy and the respect for different perspectives at risk.”

The truth? Respect for different perspectives? Not to get too deep into philosophy, but the concept of truth is not something that most philosophers would associate with daily television news or any other form of journalism. As Aristotle put it (384-322 BC): “To say of what is that it is not, or of what is not that it is, is false, while to say of what is that it is, and of what is not that it is not, is true.” Or, to rewrite Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274), “daily journalism is said to be true when it conforms to the external reality.” But since scores of journalists present half a dozen versions of external reality in different media on a daily basis, there is, ipso facto, no truth to be observed.

2. Greek islands stage general strike against migrant camps, saying ‘we want our islands back’

Thousands of residents on Greek islands hosting large migrant camps on Wednesday kicked off a day of protests, demanding the immediate removal of asylum-seekers.

The islands of Lesbos, Samos and Chios staged a general strike, shutting down shops and public services and rallying in central squares, many protesters waving Greek flags.

“We want our islands back, we want our lives back,” was the main slogan.

Asylum-seekers “should be shared out across Greece,” 72-year-old Lesbos pensioner Efstratios Peppas told AFP.

3. (Translation byMissPiggy) Macron, following in Chirac’s footsteps, yells at the Israeli policemen. “Remake” before the municipal elections?

On an official trip to Jerusalem, Emmanuel Macron “yells” at the Israeli police. An anger and a tone of voice that says more than he would like to say.

French President Emmanuel Macron urged Israeli policemen on Wednesday to let him enter the church of Saint Anne in Jerusalem, in a scene reminiscent of an incident that involved Jacques Chirac in the 1990s, our journalist said on the spot. “I don’t like what you did in front of me,” Macron shouted to an Israeli policeman, asking him to leave the church, which is French territory in Jerusalem’s Old City.

(I am not really sure what this is all about. But if he goes to Quebec next week and says: “Vivre le Quebec Libre” Im pretty sure I know what he is up to.)

4. CBC runs American story linking gun rights activists with white supremacists

(CBC, The Voice of the COMINTERN, is a classic example of why there must never be state funded media)

Canada’s state broadcaster took its cue from CNN and MSNBC in publishing a story accusing a pro-second amendment rally in Virginia as being rife with “white supremacists.”

An Associated Press article published by the CBC conflates the event with the explicitly white supremacist and neo-Nazi 2017 rally in Charlottesville that claimed the life of one woman.

The second paragraph of the article avows “expected participation of white supremacists,” while giving no evidence to support the claim and ultimately conceding the Richmond, Va. rally “concluded uneventfully.”

“Authorities were looking to avoid a repeat of the violence that erupted in Charlottesville during one of the largest gatherings of white supremacists and other far-right groups in a decade,” the article said.

5. A day without a major blast in Sweden is like a day without St. Greta lecturing people about a subject she knows nothing about.

‘Great Havoc’ as Twin Blast Hits Stockholm – Photo

Around 50 people were evacuated when two major blasts hit the Kista and Husby districts of Stockholm. Given the extent of the damage, it is surprising that only one person was taken to hospital with injuries.

Two powerful explosions have rocked Stockholm just a few hundred meters and some 14 minutes apart, causing extensive damage to the properties, Swedish police have said.

According to the police, the explosions took place in apartment buildings at night, tearing down balconies and breaking windows. The blast was so powerful that it was heard in other parts of the Swedish capital and its suburbs.

(This is yesterdays blast in Muslim areas, not to be confused with the major blasts from the day before in Swedish areas, but probably done by muslims)

6. Cofounder of Greenpeace, Patrick Moore, suggests this climate blog.

(Looks good so far. They want to make it Global Warming again cause its more threatening sounding then Climate Change, where the obvious answer is the climate is always changing and always has)

7. Subway train derailment in Toronto’s west end causes delays for commuters

TORONTO — Commuters in Toronto are facing delays this morning after a subway train derailed in the city’s west end.

The Toronto Transit Commission first announced problems around 6 a.m.

The TTC says approximately 100 shuttle buses would be running between Jane and Ossington stations.

A total of eight stations have been closed as a result of the derailment.

Metrolinx says people affected by the delay can use GO Train services for the same cost as a TTC fare.

Large groups of commuters were waiting along Bloor Street for shuttle buses.

A TTC spokesman says the subway will be running by late morning.

The transit commission says there were no passengers on the train at the time of the derailment.

Cause is under investigation.

8. Cousin took DNA test? Courts can and may use into argue genetic determinism and legal consequences for YOU

(Ever think about using 23 and me? 24 and me if you are St. Greta. Here is another fantastic reason not to. I bet they lie to their clients at least by commission in order not to reveal things people would not be happy about, and worse, now courts are making companies with databases of genetic info on people hand them over for highly dubious and pre-crime reasons)

How similar do you think you are to your second cousin? Or your estranged great aunt?

Would you like to have people assess your behaviour from what your great aunt has done? How would you feel if courts used data gained from them to decide how you are likely to behave in the future?

Scientists are making connections between a person’s DNA and their tendencies for certain kinds of behaviour. At the same time, commercial DNA databases are becoming more common and police are gaining access to them.

When these trends combine,  inferred about offenders from their relatives might one day be used by courts to determine sentences. In the future, the data from your great aunt could be used by a court to determine how severely you are punished for a crime.

Thank you M., Wrath of Khan, EB., ET., ML., Xanthippa, PePi., Richard, and all who sent in materials this week.

The fact that they started demanding impeachment before he even took office makes the exorcize more than just questionable

  1. 8 – It is as much nurture as it is nature, both play a large roll in your behavior, you can’t take just the nature and say what a person will do. Just as you can’t use nurture to explain all of the actions of people.
