Rally organizer: ‘Specific threats’ against pro-gun speakers in Virginia
The group organizing today’s gun rally in Richmond, Virginia, has issued a last-minute alert warning of threats against its speakers.
“One of our members with access to police intelligence has advised us that specific threats have been uncovered to three of the speakers at the rally. Yet, just a few days ago, when specifically asked about any such threats, the Capitol Police denied knowing of any and have not shared any such information to date,” said the alert from the Virginia Citizens Defense League.

Virginia legislation seeks to restrict number of outdoor gun ranges
Legislation proposed in early January by a Virginia Democratic lawmaker could effectively limit the number of outdoor gun ranges in the commonwealth through local governments by rezoning property for residential use.
The bill was authored by Democratic state Sen. John Bell, whose district covers portions of Loudoun and Prince William counties. According to Bell’s legislation, outdoor ranges would not be able to operate within 500 yards of any property zoned for residential use unless the Range Design Criteria established by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Health, Safety, and Security have been met.
The bill defines outdoor ranges as “any partially enclosed or unenclosed area or facility designed for the use of rifles, shotguns, pistols, silhouettes, skeet, trap, black powder, or any other similar sport shooting.”
The state of Virginia offers more than 70 outdoor shooting ranges to the public. The Washington Examiner reached out to Bell’s office for comment, as several of the outdoor ranges are located in his district, but did not hear back.

Virginia gun rights rally: Law-abiding citizens being mislabeled by media and politicians, and targeted by radical fringe
Americans have been holding peaceful gun rights rallies for years. Virginia hasn’t suddenly become chock-a-block with cretinous neo-Nazis aching to get their faces before the public (not to mention before the police force) for the sake of demonstrating for gun rights.
The original rallygoers are ordinary, law-abiding Virginians, who have no history in our lifetimes of the tinderbox-crowd volatility being suggested by the media.
The concept of gun rights is associated with those Virginians. It is not associated with the far Left, fascist-tactics group Antifa, which reportedly plans to rally “alongside” the mainstream, law-abiding Second Amendment supporters.
Nor is it associated with the neo-Nazis who have recently been arrested – some in connection with alleged plans to disrupt the rally with violence – in other states.

“Multiple European states began mulling a ‘maritime security mission’ in the Persian Gulf last summer amid simmering tensions between the UK and Iran, but the initiative seemed to have been put on hold after London announced that it would be joining a US-led maritime coalition instead.
France, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Italy, Greece, the Netherlands and Portugal have expressed political support for a European-led naval mission in the Strait of Hormuz, France’s Foreign Ministry announced Monday.
Paris has pushed for an alternative European-led maritime security coalition in the Persian Gulf since late last year after refusing to sign on to the US-led mission, dubbed ‘Operation Sentinel’. Prior to Monday’s announcement, the Netherlands, Denmark, Italy and Spain had expressed an interest in the French-led security initiative.
The UK, Australia, Albania, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates opted to join the US-led Operation Sentinel, with Israel also reportedly providing support to the US-led effort, which is formally tasked with the protection of commercial vessels travelling through the vital commercial seaway.
Sea Zone Security Spat
Tensions in the Persian Gulf began escalating in May 2019, after the US announced that it would be deploying a carrier strike group to the region to counter an unspecified ‘Iranian threat’ to US interests. The move was soon followed by a series of tanker sabotage attacks, ship seizures and the shoot-down of a $220 million US drone over the Strait of Hormuz by Iran, which brought tensions between Washington and Tehran to their highest levels since the 1979 Iranian Revolution.
The UK initially favoured the creation of a European-led maritime coalition, after the seizure of a British-flagged oil tanker in the Gulf by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards in July. That move was a tit-for-tat response on Iran’s part to the earlier seizure of an Iranian tanker off Gibraltar by local authorities and British Royal Marines based on a US tip that the vessel was engaged in oil smuggling. Both of the ships have since been released, and the UK abandoned the idea of a European-led security mission in favour of the US-led operation.
Iran has voiced its dissatisfaction with the concept of powers from outside the Persian Gulf operating in regional waters uninvited, and has proposed an alternative Hormuz Peace Endeavour (HOPE) coalition, which envisions regional powers including Iran, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states taking the lead on ensuring the security of commercial vessels in the crucial waterways. Late last year, Iran, Russia and China held joint drills in the Gulf of Oman and the northern Indian Ocean, with Iranian officials warning the exercises showed that there was “no need for the illegitimate presence of foreigners in this region”.
An estimated one quarter of all the oil in the world, or one third of the planet’s sea-borne oil, is transported through the Gulf daily.”

“With almost 39,000 US servicemen currently deployed across Germany, Grafenwohr-based US Army Garrison Bavaria is thought to be one of the largest American military bases abroad.
Newsweek magazine cited an unnamed source as saying on Sunday that the US had received intelligence about a “possible imminent attack” against American troops stationed in Germany.
The “third party information”, which was reportedly received by the US’ 66th Military Intelligence Brigade, specifically singled out servicemen based at either Tower Barracks in Grafenwohr or Tower Barracks in Dulmen as potential targets.
“The source of information stated the attack would be carried out by an unknown Jordanian extremist currently located in Germany near an unknown military base. The unknown Jordanian was described as a loyalist to the Jordanian kinglet and recently advocated killing US soldiers in Germany”, the intelligence report asserted.
Newsweek explained in this context that critics sometimes use the word “kinglet” as a derogatory term for Jordan’s King Abdullah II, who earlier signalled support for US military operations in the region.
In 2016, Jordanian soldier Sergeant Marik al-Tuwayha killed three US Army Special Forces outside the al-Jafr base in southern Jordan. He pled not guilty but was sentenced to life in prison.
The magazine also cited a US Army Europe spokesperson as confirming that “a potential threat was identified and investigated last night”.
“German and US officials were consulted and no imminent threat was found to exist. We’d like to remind everyone to stay vigilant and be aware of their surroundings”, the spokesperson warned.
A separate public warning was issued by US Army Garrison Bavaria on its official Facebook page in connection with “increased force protection measures at Tower Barracks and Rose Barracks”.

“A senior police detective who was involved in an operation that failed to go after a predominantly Pakistani child rape gang has been elevated to a top position dealing with sexual abuse against children.
Tony Cook, an investigating officer in the failed Operation Augusta, was promoted to the head of operations at the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre in Manchester four years ago, despite the institutional failure of the operation to protect children from a Pakistani grooming gang in the mid-2000s.
In a report last week detailing the failures of Operation Augusta, it was revealed that officers were told to focus on arresting grooming gang offenders of “other ethnicities” so as to not appear racist.
Detective Cook has denied that race played a role in the failure of the operation, saying in comments reported by The Times: “Any concerns about creating further community tensions did not influence any of his investigative decisions.”
The report, which relied heavily on Cook’s notes from the time, paints a different picture, however, quoting the inspector as saying there were “sensitive community issues” around the case and that perpetrators were “predominantly adult Asian men”.
Maggie Oliver, a former detective turned whistleblower on the failed operation, recommended that senior officers in the case should be prosecuted.
“I want the law changing so there can be retrospective accountability for people whose duty it is to protect the vulnerable. It’s knowing and deliberate neglection of duty… [those who were involved] should be charged with gross misconduct — it’s criminal — where is the accountability?” the former detective said.
Operation Augusta was initiated after a 15-year-old girl, Victoria Agoglia, died after being injected with heroin by her 50-year-old Asain male abuser, a man who the report claimed remains unpunished to this day.
The operation was shut down due to the inability “to put permanent staff into Operation Augusta”, claimed another senior officer. The report insisted that Tony Cook had no role in the shutting down of the operation.”

“A court in Bangladesh on Monday sentenced 10 members of a banned Islamist militant group to death for a deadly bomb attack on a Communist Party rally in 2001.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Court Judge Mohammed Rabiul Alam made the decision in a crowded courtroom while four of the defendants were in the dock. Six of the defendants are not in custody, while another two who are on the run were acquitted.
All of those on trial belong to the banned group Harkat-ul Jihad al-Islami.
The group considers the Communist Party an anti-Islamic force. On Jan. 20, 2001, bomb attacks on a party rally in Dhaka killed five people and wounded 50 others.
The judge said investigators found Harkat-ul Jihad al-Islami’s former leader was responsible for the attack but his name was dropped from the case because he was executed in 2017 over a separate attack.

“A German-Afghan man who worked for years as an interpreter and adviser for the German military went on trial Monday on charges of spying for Iranian intelligence.
The 51-year-old man, who has been identified only as Abdul S. in line with German privacy rules, is charged with “a particularly serious case” of treason and with breaching official secrecy laws in 18 cases.
Prosecutors have given few details of the case. Media and the public were excluded from the trial at the Koblenz state court before the indictment was read, the dpa news agency reported.
Presiding judge Thomas Bergmann said the trial would be held behind closed doors “until further notice” because of security concerns. The public was later allowed back into the courtroom, but further exclusions were expected during the course of the trial, which is scheduled to last until at least March 31.
The man’s wife, Asiea S., also a German-Afghan dual citizen, has been charged with being an accessory to treason. Prosecutors have said she supported his passing of secret documents to Iran from the beginning, without detailing the nature of that support.
Defense lawyer Ulrich Sommer said neither has responded to the charges. He said he has found “no direct evidence” to support them.”

Why do Democrats want witnesses? They’ve already made up their mind that Trump is guilty

On Sunday, House Judiciary Chair Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) appeared on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” where he rehashed the long-debunked argument that Donald Trump “tried to work with the Russians to rig the 2016 election.” But something else the portly congressman said was even more revealing.
“There is ample evidence, overwhelming evidence. Any jury would convict in three minutes flat that the president betrayed his country by breaking the law,” he proclaimed. It doesn’t require much of a leap to arrive at the conclusion that Nadler has made up his mind about how he intends to vote.
Presidential hopeful Michael Bloomberg was even less equivocating, openly admitting that if he were a senator, he’d vote to convict Trump. “I’d have to swallow two or three times,” told NBC’s Craig Melvin on the “Today” show but I would say I would vote to convict because there’s just so much evidence that he acted in appropriately.”
Much of the “ample, overwhelming evidence” the Democrats are so fond of citing exists in their minds only. If they had had concrete proof of real crimes and misdemeanors committed by Trump, they wouldn’t have had to settle for such historically weak articles of impeachment at the conclusion of their House investigation.

Norway’s government has collapsed over the decision to allow an ISIS bride to return to the country from Syria with her children.
The populist Progress Party pulled out of Norway’s coalition government today after the mother was permitted repatriation so that her gravely ill five-year-old son could receive medical treatment.
The 29-year-old and her two children have been living in the Al-Hol camp in Syria – notorious in Britain as the detention centre which held Shamima Begum.
Prime Minister Erna Solberg said she would forge on with a minority government comprised of her Conservatives, the centrist Liberal Party and the Christian Democrats.

The inauguration of the base took on added significance as rebel Libyan Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, backed by UAE Crown Prince Muhammad bin Zayed and Egyptian general-turned-president Abdel Fattah Sisi, snubbed Russian president Vladimir Putin by refusing to agree to a ceasefire in the Libyan war.

Three years ago, the Women’s March brought a million anti-Trump protesters to Washington D.C.
This year, 25,000 people signed up online. That was unrealistically optimistic because organizers had only obtained a permit for up to 10,000 protesters. And they only ended up with thousands.
Impeachment should have encouraged a bigger turnout, but the snowflakes couldn’t handle the snow.
The first person quoted in D.C.’s WUSA9 report explained that she couldn’t come because, “it’s supposed to be really cold and snowy and that is definitely a factor for me.”
There were few pink hats among those who did show up and a lot of black and brown winter gear. Among the few march attendees to wear pink was a bedraggled dog in a pink halter, pinks slacks, white socks and Mary Janes, while her owner waved a sign reading, “Public Cervix Announcement.”
Another dog, missing two legs, looking utterly miserable, was draped in a coat and a pink wreath while trying to move forward over the slick street on wheels while wearing a, “I’m With Her” sign.

In a decision of seeming absurdity, the New York Times endorsed Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar for President of the United States.
Or is that presidents. Obviously the jokes write themselves.
But this is less an endorsement than an unendorsement. What the endorsement really says is that the NYT isn’t supporting Biden or Bernie. Instead it offers up Warren as a Bernie alternative and Klobuchar as a Biden alternative. Considering Klobuchar’s electoral promise, that’s effectively a Warren endorsement.
And while the jokes do write themselves. The Times isn’t joking. And its agenda, the traditional one of the Left, isn’t funny. Read on.

The Soviets shot it down, killing 269 people, and one of 61 American victims was Rep. Lawrence McDonald, an anti-Communist Georgia Democrat.

“Opponents of the JCPOA and those who are now trying to destabilise the situation in the region, should not be given additional material to escalate the general situation. It would be counterproductive, in our opinion,” Mr Ryabkov said.
Earlier on Monday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that if Iran’s nuclear issue is referred to the United Nations Security Council Tehran will quit the NPT.
“If the Europeans continue their improper behaviour or send Iran’s file to the Security Council, we will withdraw from the NPT,” Zarif said as quoted by the official IRNA news agency.
The Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons is an international treaty signed in 1968 and aimed at preventing the spread of nuclear weapons and weapons technology.
EU Blames Iran for Non-Compliance With Nuke Deal
Mr Zarif’s statement comes after Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi said in an interview earlier on Monday that Tehran still adheres to the JCPOA, blaming the European countries for failing to fulfil their obligations under the deal.
Last week, France, Germany and the UK announced that they were launching the Dispute Resolution Mechanism within the JCPOA after they said they had been “left with no choice, given Iran’s actions’ but to refer Tehran’s alleged failure to comply with its commitments under the nuclear deal. According to the Dispute Resolution Mechanism, if the party accused of not abiding by its JCPOA commitments fails to resolve the complaint against it, the parties that launched the mechanism can cease their obligations under the deal and notify the UNSC.
On 5 January, Iran said that it was rolling back its commitments under the JCPOA following a new escalation of tensions with the US which was caused by the killing of Iran’s top military commander Qasem Soleimani in a US drone strike in Baghdad on 3 January.”

‘My beautiful wife Misti, a published poet, succumbed last night to injuries sustained in a car accident,’ her grieving husband wrote.
‘I was supposed to die in your arms some day, but a slippery road has ruined everything. You were not just my love, you were my greatest adventure.’

“Amidst rising numbers of illegal crossings of the English Channel by boat migrants, a new report has found that the Conservative government of the United Kingdom deported just 15 per cent of migrants that reached British shores illegally last year.
In 2019 1,890 migrants successfully reached Britain after crossing the English Channel illegally, however, just 125 migrants were returned to European nations, despite Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s promise to send back those migrants who enter the UK illegally.
The National Crime Agency (NCA) states that a majority of the migrants illegally crossing the Channel are Iranian nationals, most of whom are deemed to have a “strong” case for asylum due to the repressive nature of the Islamist regime in Tehran, reports the BBC.
In the year between September of 2018 and 2019, 4,749 Iranians applied for asylum in the UK, surging by 79 per cent over the previous year. Of the total number of Iranian asylum seekers, 2,406 or 63 per cent were granted asylum in their first attempt, with more being granted the status on appeal.
It is believed that the reason for a large proportion of illegal boat migrants being comprised of Iranians is due to their comparative wealth to other asylum seekers, with a boat crossing having a higher chance of success than other methods but also being more expensive.
Entering the United Kingdom illegally by boat or other means does not disqualify a migrant from being granted asylum status, therefore groups like Iranians are incentivised to reach British soil by any means necessary in order to be given the status.
In February of last year, Director General of Operations Steve Rodhouse of the National Crime Agency (NCA) said that the increase of Iranian illegal boat crossings comes as a result of the migrants not fearing deportation.
“The business model is for the migrants to reach the point where they can engage with UK authorities whether it be on land or at sea and claim asylum at that point”, said Mr Rodhouse.
“People are happy to be and are actively seeking to be caught or engaging with UK authorities because they don’t fear being returned and that is a significant player in the issue”, he added.
Last month the former chief of immigration enforcement at the Home Office, David Wood, blamed the rise in boat crossings on increased patrols by the UK Border Force, saying: “They know they will be picked up and taken to the UK. For them, that is mission accomplished.”
Breitbart London reported in August of 2019 that there are some 40,000 failed asylum seekers who remain in the nation, despite being “subject to removal action” from the government, a figure which represented a twofold increase since 2014.”

A woman set off explosives in a crowd in Kaiga-Kindjiria, a town that has been attacked by Boko Haram insurgents in the past, according to Dimoya Souapelbe, the prefect of the local department of Fouli in the Lake Chad province. He put the toll from Sunday night’s attack at 10 dead and several wounded.
A local humanitarian worker said at least 9 people were dead and two injured. The worker spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not permitted to speak to the press.
Chad has suffered attacks for years by Nigeria’s Boko Haram fighters, who have crossed borders and killed tens of thousands during its 10-year insurgency.

The regional court in Stuttgart concluded that the defendant, previously identified only as Navanithan G. in line with German privacy rules, had tipped off members of the Tamil Tigers separatist group about Lakshman Kathirkamar’s whereabouts.
German news agency dpa reported that the court sentenced him to six years and 10 months imprisonment. The ruling can be appealed.
Prosecutors say the defendant, who applied for asylum in Germany in 2012, was a member of the Tamil Tigers’ intelligence unit.

“Kosovo prosecutors on Monday filed terrorism charges against an Albanian woman who allegedly joined a terror group in Syria.
A statement said the defendant woman identified as V.B. left Kosovo in September 2014 together with her husband and two children. They went to neighboring Skopje, North Macedonia, and then to Turkey where they crossed the Syrian border to join the Islamic State group, authorities said.
Her husband, identified as E.H., was killed in April 2015 in Syria.
The defendant was there until April 2019 when they were part of a group of 110 Kosovo citizens repatriated from Syria.
She is charged with organization and participation in a terror group. If convicted, she faces up to 10 years in prison.
About 30 ethnic Albanians from Kosovo are still believed to be with terror groups in Syria and Iraq.”
France: Lawyers among protesters rallying during Macron”s visit to AstraZeneca plant
Members of unions and lawyers rallied outside AstraZeneca company in the northern city of Dunkirk on Monday, to protest against French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit.
Footage shows demonstrators shouting slogans and holding signs, while objects were set alight in the street despite a heavy presence of police forces.
Lawyers, who aimed at questioning Macron over the planned pension system reform, also demanded the release of a colleague who had been stopped and interrogated by police ahead of Macron’s arrival.
The French leader’s visit came as the company had just announced fresh investments of up to 550 million dollars (497 million euros) in the country.
