Analysis of the US Iran issue, and the downed Ukrainian aircraft

Speculation is Iran accidentally shot down a passenger jet because of incompetent air defense systems.

(Which would be perfectly consistent with the real state of Iran’s military in fact.)

RT reports that the aircraft was in perfect condition as was the crew

And this article from Tabletmag is the best overall analysis of the situation we have seen so far. It is worth the time and effort.

(In essence, it is that President Trump has trashed a standing policy of allowing Iran to deny actions against the US by its proxies in order to create the illusion of stability. But that hasn’t been working at all so, this makes a great deal of sense. Lets all hope its true. Because it means that Iran really cannot do much but plant red flags on buildings and cut off pistachio exports.)

Iran exports energy, pistachios and terror

  1. Re the Iranian accountability article:
Now let’s see if other countries follow suit in holding Iran accountable for its proxies. In fact it may now be a situation where weaker countries cannot sustain the cloaking device of the non-accountability of Iran since PT chooses to call the spade a spade. This may change the whole ME dynamic, no? Proxies may find themselves financially stretched before long. It may also put more pressure on the filthy Turk to fill any voids that emerge.

“Iran and America Are Suddenly Both Naked”
    By Lee Smith

    Excerpt:

And even though the hostage crisis crippled Jimmy Carter, it was his successor, Ronald Reagan, who not only failed to retaliate after the hostages were freed, but then also granted the Iranians impunity when under cover of Hezbollah, they bombed the U.S. Embassy in Lebanon in April 1983. Six months later, they bombed the Marine barracks. In December of that year, the Iranians employed Lebanese and Iraqi proxies to bomb the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait. Muhandis, killed last week with Soleimani, is believed to have planned the attack.

Ronald Reagan failed? The only thing that failed happened on March 30, 1981.

    By J.E. Dyer January 7, 2020

Within the last three hours, Iran has launched “more than a dozen” missiles from Iranian territory at bases in Iraq where U.S. forces are or have been present.

This is according to a Pentagon update clarifying previous news and social media reporting. The initial Pentagon statement gave two bases as targets.

The office of Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández released a statement saying, “Honduras joins Guatemala and other countries in announcing that Hezbollah will be declared an international terrorist organization nationwide.” Hezbollah has been designated as a terrorist group by several Western countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Argentina, Paraguay and Israel, as well as Arab League member Bahrain and, most recently, Guatemala. Other countries, such as Australia, France and Germany, only classify Hezbollah’s military wing as a terrorist organization.
