I lose a lot because I’m not familiar with pop culture.
Seems like the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner, where somebody’s out to embarrass the people paying for that service.
In ancient Rome there was a holiday where servants/slaves would switch places with their masters for a night and a day. Order around a rich Senator, make absurd demands of his wife that might reveal flaws in relationships. Everybody got drunk and it was supposed to be fun.
Julius Caesar’s parents found the whole thing distasteful. They gave the servants the day off and some money to celebrate on their own. I don’t know whether the holiday transitioned past the Late Roman Republic era, when the Empire and emperor-god cult emerged.
I rather enjoyed the smackdown, Hollywood peoplekind loved Hitler. You can’t fix stupid.
You can look at the audience and see who’s really laughing, who’s faking it, and who’s too arrogant to fake it.
And like a mindless fool, we STILL see some SJW crap from some of them. Most notably, Cate Blanchett whined something nonsensical about climate change and Australia, even though we know Australia’s summertime fires are (A) an annual issue, and (B) nearly all caused by arsonists. But hey, keep talking, Cate. I love to hear the wind whistling between your ears when you open your mouth.
She did not mention that 183 people have been arrested for setting bushfires.
