2. French Leftists Label Children in Nativity Play ‘Fascists’

A group of around 50 far-left activists stormed a nativity play involving children in Toulouse, shouting at the children and telling them they were “fascists”.

 

The mob of leftist extremists interrupted the nativity play at around 4 pm at the Place Saint-Georges and yelled, “stop the fascists!” along with “we are the anticapitalists!” and a torrent of insults towards the young children and the organisers, La Depechereports.

 

As the young children became frightened, the nativity play was shut down a full two hours ahead of schedule and only an hour after it had begun.

3. Saudi student with illegally obtained gun found in possession of ‘kill list’

A Saudi student residing in the US, armed with illegally obtained firearms, was found in possession of a “kill list” that included a university professor.

 

Last Friday’s arrest of 27-year-old Hassan Alqahtani, who is being held by US authorities until his trial on a federal gun charge, comes over a week after a Saudi airman training in the US carried out a deadly terrorist attack killing three people at a US Navy base in Florida.

 

US Magistrate Judge Laura Fashing ruled yesterday that Alqahtani, who was studying mechanical engineering at the University of New Mexico in southwestern US, posed a danger to others and should be kept in federal custody.

Alqahtani was initially arrested for alleged domestic violence. A Federal prosecutor told the judge during the detention hearing in Albuquerque, New Mexico, that Alqahtani held a gun to his girlfriend’s head and threatened to kill her.

 

Reported allegations of domestic violence was made by the family of Alqahtani’s wife. Testimonies of the Saudi student’s violent conduct was also given by the mother of Alqahtani’s girlfriend who told FBI agents that her daughter was scared he might attack her.

4. Report: Over 20 Former French Soldiers Have Become Jihadists

The Centre for Analysis of Terrorism (CAT) has released a report claiming that as many as 23 former French soldiers have joined radical Islamic terror groups such as the Islamic state.

 

Manon Chemel, the author of the report, said that most of the former soldiers have joined the Islamic State and that nearly half of them had been Islamic converts, while 10 had been members of elite units such as the Foreign Legion or Air Commandos, Le Figaro reports.

 

The other former soldiers are said to have served as regulars primarily in the army, with one subject serving in the navy and one other in the air force.

 

The armed forces, according to the CAT report, are a “strategic recruitment target for terrorist groups”. It added that many such recruits end up in strategic positions within terrorist groups, while others have targetted other soldiers and military installations.

I give you the extraordinary tale of Martin Selner, and now the video below as evidence.

I am not as familiar with the woman above as I am with Martin Selner and his case. But lets take the worst position against her. She may have gone to events of a particular politician who deservedly or not, got harassed, interrupted, screamed at and interfered with by this woman.

Jail is not what a free society does to political hecklers.

Some of you might remember when Laura Loomer went to a Synagogue, I think it was in LA, and was asked to leave by an Arabic looking gentlemen before what was likely to be a somewhat odious speech by MB and leftist speakers with political aspirations. Laura did not want to leave but was made to, and then made a scene about how “A Jew was being made to leave a Synagogue”.

My personal sympathies lay with the people who ejected her on that occasion. Asking someone to leave who you know is there to disrupt your event seems a legitimate solution to a problem you see right ahead. Not thuggery, not force of state like jail.

Possible responses by a politician to a Laura Loomer, or this woman above, again assuming worst case for her, could be:

1. Asking her to leave or having her removed from an event.

2. Inviting her to an actual public debate formal or informal with fair conditions if she agrees to stop interfering with the events. This would determine good faith on behalf of both parties lickety split.

3. Offering her 2 minutes to speak to her audience then and there if she agrees to stop interfering afterwards.

Tyrants use the force of the state, or their own personal goons to stop political hecklers. And while some of these hecklers are in fact grandstanders who are attempting to raise their own profiles and incomes by awful behaviour, some are a genuine and even sometimes important part of the political process. It is not necessary to sort out who’s who. The same strategies can be applied to both and they will sort themselves out. The ones willing to engage in fair debate and then honour the terms of the agreement, they will be the ones worthy of respect in this site’s opinion.

So I don’t know where this woman lies in the spectrum of political activists. But I know either way, jailing her speaks much worse to the state than it does to her character.

One more thought:

It is not interfering with someone’s right of freedom of speech to eject them from an event if they are disrupting it, anymore than throwing someone out of your home for urinating on your carpets is interfering with their right to evacuate waste. This is also my approach to this site. VERY few people have ever been blocked from posting here. Only when they are abusive to other users, and I mean in an over-the-top way, or if they are deceptive or spamming the site with unwanted or unrelated materials.

I do not call the police, or report them to any body whatsoever. This is my home. These are my carpets. All are welcome and actually quite appreciated. But the ones who pee on the rugs will have the keys taken. This is not removing any rights to freedom of speech whatsoever. They are free to create their own platforms, or do the same on any other site that will allow them.

When Kieth Richards cracked a guy on the head with his guitar while onstage at Altamonte, he was not interfering with that man’s right to play guitar. He was just denying having his own stage taken from him by a stranger. Granted there were much larger consequences on society as a result of events at that concert, but specifically that event is useful to our analogy.
