BAVARIA, GERMANY:
Germans are in shock after the excruciating death of a firefighter who was beaten to death on Friday night in Augsburg, Bavaria. The 49-year-old was on his way home from the Christmas market with his wife and another couple when a group of young people targeted him and his 50-year-old friend. The circumstances of the altercation are still unclear. According to one witness, the seven youths involved were running down the street screaming when the two men asked them to quiet down.
Saying nothing, the group continued to wreak havoc. “When they were again put to order by the two men, they jumped on them,” says the witness. Hit on the head, the 49-year-old firefighter collapsed to the ground and could not be revived. Unfortunately, he died in the ambulance. His friend was seriously injured in the face and his female companion was slightly injured. Several witnesses say they saw seven young people running away towards the train station after the attack.
A 17-YEAR OLD YOUTH WAS ARRESTED. The police identified the main suspect as a 17-year-old resident of Augsburg with German, Turkish and Lebanese nationality.
