“A demonstration during which Islam’s central religious scripture was set alight has triggered a searing debate on the limits of freedom of speech in Norway and sent a ripple across the Muslim world.
The Quran burning that occurred during an event by Stop Islamisation of Norway (SIAN) has sparked strong reactions in the Muslim world.
While Turkey and Iran issued their formal condemnations, the Norwegian flag was torched during a demonstration in Karachi, alongside the US flag, Norwegian national broadcaster NRK reported.
Hashtags like #Boycottnorway and #Norwayattackonislam are gathering momentum on Twitter, together with calls to ostracise the Scandinavian nation for its perceived lack of respect for religion.
Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg received many comments about the Quran burning on her Instagram page, even in seemingly unrelated posts, such as one about women’s football.
Trude Måseide, the head of communications at the foreign ministry, said the authorities were monitoring the situation closely and distancing themselves from the flag burning.
?“Violation of the Norwegian flag is an instrument that we refrain from precisely because we do not want an increasingly polarised social debate,” Måseide said. She stressed that provocations and incitement with disrespectful actions contributes to conflict. “Although this is legal and within the freedom of speech, we are clear that we disagree,” she told NRK.
Telenor, Norway’s leading telecom company, said they were closely following the reactions in social media and calls to boycott. Spokeswoman Hanne Knudsen said the company was working fully to maintain regular operations. In a tweet, Telenor stressed that respect for others was one of their core values and condemned acts “that don’t respect religion”.
?Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry summoned the Norwegian ambassador to inform him that the Quran burning “hurt the sentiments of 1.3 billion Muslims around the world, including those in Pakistan”. By contrast, the Muslim man who attacked SIAN activists won a lot of praise, including from the Pakistani Armed Forces spokesperson Asif Ghafoor.
Within or Outside the Limits of Free Speech?
?The Quran burning in Kristiansand, which ended in a violent clash and arrests, has sparked a heated discussion in Norway, with many politicians and journalists arguing that the police violated the principles of free speech by interfering and stopping it.
Justice Minister Jøran Kallmyr stressed to NRK that burning the Quran was “part of the freedom of speech, whether we like it or not” and therefore fully legal.
Others, such as Liberal Party heavyweight and former Norwegian parliament vice president Abid Raja, condemned both the Quran burning and the flag-burning response as “destructive actions for the entire society”. His party colleague Odd Einar Dørum, however, went so far as to draw parallels between Quran burning burning and Kristallnacht or the Night of Broken Glass 1938, when Nazis carried out massive pogroms against Jews, the newspaper Dagbladet reported.
New Fires Promised
Meanwhile, SIAN, an organisation set up in the early 2000s to stop the proliferation of Islam, pledged reruns of the Quran burning.
“Yes, absolutely. This is just the beginning of a freedom movement. It is about the right to criticise religion”, 85-year-old Arne Tumyr, veteran journalist and SIAN figurehead, told the local newspaper Agderposten.
At the same time, he admitted that Quran burning is not his preferred course of action.
“What I prefer is to sit down with people and discuss arguments and facts. But no one either wants or dares,” Tumyr lamented. By his own admission, setting fire to the Quran was intended to “wake people up”.

A 22-year-old is suspected of having threatened a 56-year-old last Monday evening at 7 p.m. at Eicholzheim station. According to previous findings, the Afghan suspect suddenly approached the 56-year-old on the platform and verbally threatened him with death. GENEVA (Reuters) – Iran’s top leader on Wednesday denounced an outbreak of deadly unrest as a “very dangerous conspiracy” as authorities reported about 731 banks and 140 government sites had been torched in the disturbances.
Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said the protests amounted to a plot that Iranians had defeated, referring to the worst anti-government unrest in Iran since authorities put down demonstrations against election fraud in 2009.
The disturbances began on Nov. 15 after the announcement of gasoline price hikes, but quickly turned political, with protesters demanding top leaders step down.
In response, the government has blamed “thugs” linked to exiles and the United States, Israel and Saudi Arabia for stirring up the street unrest.

Iran’s Transnational Terrorist Array: Tehran’s Offensive Arsenal Against the U.S. and Its Allies

The “Fourth Persian Empire” is in decline through the weight of its own unsustainability. The U.S. measures taken against it have merely accelerated the rate of erosion. Now that an increasing scarcity of resources, a heightened avidity of the kleptocratic class, and a self-ignited public awareness have converged to create a storm of protest, it is hard to imagine how this bankrupt model of external domination can prevail in the long term. Videos appearing on social media paint a picture of a brutal and bloody government crackdown.
Hospital staff said security officers are going to hospitals to look for wounded protesters. One doctor said the officers were removing bandages to check whether they had bullet wounds and arresting anyone who had them. There is an Arabic-language sign declaring the protests to be against Israel, perhaps a reference to the allegation by pro-Iran politicians that the Jewish state is involved in the uprising. There is an English-language sign on the restaurant demanding the UN intervene against the Iraqi government, and in the streets, protesters hand out mini blue and white UN flags.
The anti-government protests are nearing the two-month mark. In Tahrir Square, the largely young protesters are undeterred by the death toll of more than 300 and counting. They continue to face an endless barrage of tear gas as they fight to remove barriers, chant anti-government slogans and bring about the fall of the system in place since the 2003 US invasion.

The Taliban took a trip to Iran this month, Iranian media revealed, for the second time since US-Taliban talks broke down. The delegation was led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akund, the Taliban’s lead negotiator. Baradar has led negotiations with the US in Qatar and peace discussions in Moscow this year, and has held discussions with Pakistan and other countries. The Iranian discussions included talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who held a call with Palestinian Islamic Jihad the same day, illustrating how Iran hopes it can leverage several fronts against the US and their allies.

President Trump to designate Mexican cartels as terror organizations amid escalated violence
President Trump recently announced a plan to designate Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations. In an interview Tuesday, the president said he’s been working to designate cartels as terrorists for the past 90 days. He confirmed the designation process is underway and said more announcements are coming soon.
The president also pointed out that the U.S. is losing 100,000 people per year to drug trade, human smuggling, and criminal violence incited by the cartels. The drug war in Mexico has escalated in recent years with data showing that since 2007 more than 250,000 people have died from the violence and tens of thousands more have been reported missing. The death toll reached nearly 30,000 in 2018 alone.
Many senators endorsed the president’s call for a crackdown on cartels after a massacre of an American family in Mexico. Nine women and children were murdered after their vehicles were ambushed in the northern party of the country. Although the question still stands, if this was a coordinated attack or just a case of mistaken identify, the Mexican government suggested that the cartel may have believed the SUV’s were a rival gang.

Coalition drives to build Iraqi Kurdistan’s Peshmerga into a self-sustaining force
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq – At the Bnaslawa training center outside Erbil in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, 12 Yazidi women from Sinjar, the youngest 19 years old, are training to be combat medics for the Peshmerga – literally, “those who face death” – the military force in the autonomous region that was critical in the war against Islamic State.
Two gender advisors from the U.S.-led Coalition against ISIS were present when The Defense Post visited Peshmerga training centers in Sulaymaniyah and Erbil last week alongside personnel from the Italian Army, who currently lead the multi-national Kurdistan Training Coordination Center.
Formed in 2015 and based in Erbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, the KTCC officially became part of Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve last year. In addition to Italy, Finland, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and the United Kingdom contribute to the KTCC.
Almost 50,000 Peshmerga have been trained by the KTCC so far, around 12,000 per year. Next summer they hope to move to a mentorship relationship instead of direct training, and the rush is on to prepare Peshmerga to take charge of their own security.
The female Peshmerga all agreed to be photographed and identified by their first names for this story. The Defense Post agreed to obscure the faces of KTCC personnel except for the commander, Italian Army Colonel Giuseppe Levato. Turkey remains defiant on S-400, as Senators warn of sanctions by Christmas
WASHINGTON DC (Kurdistan 24) – Despite US President Donald Trump’s efforts to avert a crisis in US-Turkish relations, such a confrontation appears to be looming.
Conflicting US and Turkish accounts
On Monday, Turkey tested the radar on its new advanced Russian air defense system, the S-400. Later that day, as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan flew back to Turkey after visiting Qatar, journalists asked him about it.
Erdogan claimed he had until April to reach an understanding with the US on the S-400, Ahval reported. But no US official has said that, at least not publicly, and it is certainly not the timeline of the US Congress.
The House of Representatives has already passed sanctions legislation. Senior US senators are talking about imminent action if the matter is not resolved soon. Congress will break for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, and the senators appear determined to settle the issue before then.…
Russian-Turkish Ties
Turkish officials have suggested they could buy a Russian fighter jet, the Su-35, if Turkey remains excluded from the F-35 program, and Moscow would welcome that. Indeed, the head of Rosoboronexport, Russia’s state arms exporter, said on Tuesday that Moscow and Ankara were discussing the possibility of Turkey purchasing more Russian arms.
“I want to stress that military technical cooperation with Turkey is not limited to the supply of S-400s,” he said. “We have big plans ahead.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin is slated to visit Ankara in January to mark the opening of the Turkstream pipeline—through which Russia will supply Turkey with natural gas. It will also be an opportunity for Putin to press Erdogan on Russian military purchases, including the Su-35, the Voice of America noted.

The test I have always used is when someone talks about why Israel has no right to exist and lists reasons that even if true, apply far more or at least equally to other nations which they have never considered have no right to exist. In discussion this shuts people up pretty fast even if it doesn’t change any minds.
As a quick and easy example, you can counter the “apartheid” claim by pointing out how you have to be Muslim in many countries or at least non-muslims are at best second class citizens, whereas muslim arabs have MORE rights than Jewish Israelis, as they do not have to join the military. But there are countless more examples.

“The Indian government said on Wednesday that offices and educational institutions are working as normal in the Kashmir Valley. However, the authorities admitted that the internet will only be restored when the local administration gives them the green light.
Terror incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, specifically in the Valley, have dropped to “almost nil” due to the actions of government and security personnel, Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Wednesday.
This security network was beefed up in August to neutralise potential protest activities following the decision to revoke the region’s decades-old special quasi-autonomous status.
“Terror incidents have been taking place in Jammu and Kashmir for the last 30-35 years. But I must compliment the forces. Terror incidents have now come down to almost nil,” the minister claimed while responding to a question raised by the opposition Congress in the Indian Parliament on Tuesday’s terror-related killings in the Jammu and Kashmir region’s Anantnag district.
Rejecting the opposition’s charge of the government misleading Parliament on the situation in Kashmir, the minister claimed Kashmir has not experienced a major incident in the last five-and-a-half years.
He also asserted that not a single person has died in police firing since 5 August though many feared bloodshed and more killings after the revocation of the region’s quasi-autonomous status.
As regards the restoration of internet connections which have remained suspended for four months, the government has said telecom companies have to submit signed bonds committing that internet usage will be only for business purposes and that they share all “content” and “infrastructure” of the internet as and when required by the “security agencies”.
The bond consists of six points, including no uploading of encrypted files containing videos or photos, no social networking, proxies, VPNs’ (Virtual Private Network) and Wi-Fi for the allowed IP (Internet Protocol address) and a commitment that all USB (common interface) ports will be disabled on the network, Indian news website The Wire reported.

“The treason trial, by the erstwhile Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) government, against retired Gen Pervez Musharraf for introducing the state of emergency in 2007 has been pending since 2013.
A day before a special court was set to announce its judgement in the long-drawn out case against former president retired Gen Pervez Musharraf, the Islamabad High Court on Wednesday prevented it from issuing the verdict.
If the former president, who abrogated the constitution twice, had been found guilty, he could have faced the death penalty.
On 19 November, the special court concluded trial proceedings in the treason case against Musharraf for declaring a state of emergency on 3 November 2007.
The High Court order came on a petition filed by the interior ministry which had requested it to set aside the special court’s decision to announce its judgement in the treason case.
The court accepted the ministry’s petition and barred the special court from announcing the verdict. The court issued directions on a similar petition filed by Musharraf.
The federal government has been directed to appoint a new prosecutor in the treason case by 5 December. The special court has been ordered to announce its judgement after hearing all the parties.
Musharraf was indicted in March 2014, and the prosecution tabled the evidence before the special court in September the same year. Musharraf, who is living in Dubai in self-exile, left Pakistan in March 2016.”

Back in October Breitbart’s Aaron Klein reported that Thomas Eager, a staffer for the House Intelligence Committee chairman, had traveled to Ukraine the previous month, adding that the trip was sponsored and organized by the Atlantic Council, a think tank. Klein further noted that one of the Atlantic Council’s sources of funding is Burisma, the Ukrainian natural gas company, which routinely works in partnership with the think tank. Burisma is of course the company that paid Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, $80,000 a month to serve on its board.
Several weeks after that report, another bombshell exploded with the revelation that William B. Taylor Jr., the top American diplomat in Ukraine who would later testify in the House impeachment inquiry hearings, met with a Schiff staffer in Ukraine days prior to Politico’s publishing the leak.
Now comes the latest dot to be connected. Yesterday Klein reported that a second Schiff staffer served as a fellow for the Atlantic Council. His name is Sean Misko, and he has been described as “close friends” with Eric Ciaramella, the individual who likely functioned as the so-called whistleblower

As the appetite for impeachment wanes, Democrats are talking again about censuring Donald Trump. This isn’t a fresh idea. Eight months into Trump’s presidency, Nancy Pelosi urged Congress to censure the president “for his repulsive defense of white supremacy in the wake of Charlottesville.” A common link between efforts then and now was that the president’s language was wide open to interpretation, suggesting the move by Dems were more a vendetta than it was an effort to rein in and out-of-control president.
So what exactly is a censure, and what does it entail? The answer to the first question may be found in the recently updated “Resolutions to Censure the President: Procedure and History,” published by the Congressional Research Service, which informs us that “Congress has no disciplinary authority over the President except through
impeachment. Thus, presidential censure resolutions express the ‘sense of’ the House and/or Senate without additional legal implications.”

Man, if Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) were any more of a patriot, we’d all be speaking Persian right now.
A sworn court statement claims that the America-hating freshman congresswoman passed information to Iran through Qatar. The sworn deposition, which appears below, by Alan Bender a Kuwaiti-born Canadian businessman, claims that Omar was recruited and paid by Qatar to pass sensitive information to Iran via intermediaries. Omar is a member of the House Foreign Relations committee and probably has much access to a trove of information coveted by the Iranian mullahs.
Bender was subpoenaed in a lawsuit against the Qatari emir’s brother, Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al-Thani, who stands accused of ordering his American bodyguard to murder two people and holding his hired American paramedic prisoner. In his deposition, Bender testifies about his meetings with Qatari spy chief Mohammed Al-Masnad and other Qatari officials who discussed Qatar’s campaign to influence Western politicians.
The Saudi news outlet Al Arabiya obtained Bender’s deposition and reported that the contents were authenticated by the attorney for the plaintiffs.
There is the possibility that Bender perjured himself in the deposition and that his account of Omar’s treachery is inaccurate. It is also possible that Qatar manipulated Bender, convincing him hat the account was true when it wasn’t. At the very least, Binder’s statement should elicit an investigation by Congress or the Department of Homeland Security because the charge is very serious if true.

Minnesota Democrat Ilhan Omar “was recruited by a foreign government, received funding from a foreign government, and passed sensitive information through intermediaries to Iran,” Donna Rachel Edmunds reports in the Jerusalem Post today. According to the report, the information on Omar came during testimony from Alan Bender, a Canadian businessman born in Kuwait, in the Florida trial of Sheik Khalid bin Hamad al-Thani, a Qatari emir accused of ordering his bodyguard to murder two people and holding hostage an American citizen.
Alan Bender told the Florida District Court that “he met with Qatar’s Secretary to the Emir for Security Affairs and two other senior Qatari officials.” According to Edmunds, those officials “recruited Ilhan Omar from even way before she thought about becoming a government official,” and she became their “jewel in the crown.”
Bender testified that Qatari officials told him “the best thing money can buy is American officials, because they are the cheapest of the cheapest-costing officials in the world.” Without their money, the officials said, “Omar would be just another black Somali refugee in America collecting welfare and serving tables on weekends.”

Over the weekend, Greece’s Aegean islands saw 643 migrants land by boat in 24 hours, while the Greek coastguard picked up another 60 migrants for a total of 703 migrants overall.
The new figures come just a week after Greece saw 1,350 migrants arrive last weekend.
Several islands in the Aegean, most notably Lesbos and Samos, have seen their migrant camps become severely overcrowded with an estimated 37,000 migrants living in conditions only meant for a few thousand at most.
The Greek conservative government has reacted to the overcrowding by sending some migrants to the Greek mainland, despite the protestations of Greek natives. Authorities also declared that larger closed facilities would be built on the Aegean islands to accommodate a higher number of migrants.
Greece’s Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced last week that the government would be deploying a thousand more border patrol guards and upgrading sea patrols to “shut the door” to illegal migrants.”

Police arrested the suspected fighter on Saturday, according to the Swiss Public Ministry. Authorities said he had lived at an asylum home in the town of Altstätten before being sent to another centre in Kreuzlingen, 20 Minutes reports.
Other migrants living in the Altstätten asylum home say the suspect acted in a manner where he became a leading figure in the residential home, giving out orders. While some migrants complained about the way the alleged jihadist was acting, authorities did nothing to stop him.
Following his transfer to Kreuzlingen, several migrants came forward stating that they recognised the suspect, claiming that he had been an Islamic State militant. A short time later, a picture emerged of the suspect dressed in battle fatigues, which convinced prosecutors who then had the suspect arrested.
Since the height of the migrant crisis in 2015, many have warned that Islamic State would use the uncontrolled flow of people as a means to insert fighters from the Middle East into Europe.
A German intelligence report from 2016 stated that hundreds of Islamic State fighters had come to the continent disguised as asylum seekers.
The German Federal Intelligence Service (BND) indicated that Islamic State leaders had gone as far as training fighters on how to apply for asylum once they managed to reach Europe.
Such fears were confirmed last year when a Syrian asylum seeker on trial for being a member of a terrorist cell admitted that Islamic State had sent him to Europe disguised as an asylum seeker.

Sperm Positive has begun with three male donors from across New Zealand who are living with HIV but have an undetectable viral load, meaning the amount of the virus in a person’s blood is so low that it cannot be detected by standard methods.
Although this does not mean the HIV has been cured, it does mean that the treatment is working well and so the virus cannot be passed on – even through sex without a condom or childbirth.

Kinsella also refers to “Hamish and Walsh,” which, it has been speculated, refers to CPC campaign manager Hamish Marshall and CPC election co-chair John Walsh, saying the pair would be asking what results “Project Cactus” was achieving.
Mr Marshall has denied the allegations that the CPC hired Kinsella stating, “I have never monitored (or overseen or any other synonym) any project or anything with Daisy or any Kinsella person or entity.”
Walsh, however, gave no comment on the issue despite Kinsella’s former spouse bragging about being in touch with Walsh in the recording.
Kinsella also admitted in the recording that he had engaged in painting other conservatives as racists in the past but admitted, “None of them were. But I was successful at depicting them as racists.”
Active on Twitter, Mr Kinsella appeared to express his sympathy for the far-left extremist Antifa group in August of 2017 stating, “‘Antifa’ is short for anti-fascist. The only ones who should oppose antifa are fascists.”
Antifa, who operate in countries across Europe and North America, have been responsible for injuring hundreds of police officers in Hamburg in 2017 at the G20 summit, attempting to murder a populist politician in Bremen earlier this year and most recently have gone on a rampage in Leipzig, attacking construction sites and a real state employee in her own home.
U.S. President Donald Trump has gone as far as to consider designating the group a terrorist organization, a move that was slammed by left-wing parties and supporters in Germany.
In Canada, the group has also been active in Montreal where they threatened to attack Canadian mainstream journalists in 2017 and in Hamilton where Antifa anarchists smashed up a row of shops in 2018.
Kinsella is also linked to the Canadian equivalent of HOPE not Hate, the Canadian Anti-Hate Network and its chair Bernie Farber, calling him “my brother from another mother” on his website.
Canadian Anti-Hate Network member Evan Balgord attempted to shut down a PPC event involving Maxime Bernier and hosted by U.S. political commentator Dave Rubin in Hamilton during the election campaign, writing an op-ed in the Hamilton Spectator accusing Rubin of “ushering people into the neo-Nazi movement.”
The PPC event went ahead despite Balgord’s op-ed, with several far-left Antifa protestors being arrested and a video of an elderly woman being accosted by Antifa extremists going viral on social media.”

“China’s Foreign Ministry accused human rights activists in America of having “no conscience” for condemning Beijing’s use of concentration camps to commit genocide against Uyghur, Kazakh, and other Muslim ethnic minorities in western Xinjiang province on Wednesday.
Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang responded with outrage to remarks by American Secretary of State Mike Pompeo applauding the leak of authentic documents from the Xinjiang concentration camps, believed to total upwards of 1,000 facilities, and expressing hope that the rest of the world will now join America in demanding an end to genocidal practices by the Communist Party.
President Donald Trump’s administration has exposed human rights abuses in China and demanded an end to genocide against Uyghurs since the release of the State Department Human Rights Report for 2017. China has insisted there is no evidence for the existence of concentration camps and claimed the extensive satellite evidence of their construction actually shows “vocational training” institutions.
“Apparently, certain people in the U.S. don’t lack access for more information. They just have no conscience or courage to admit the truth,” Geng said in response to Pompeo’s remarks on Tuesday. According to the Global Times, a Chinese government propaganda outlet, Geng accused Pompeo of a “malicious attempt of using Xinjiang issues to interfere with China’s domestic affairs.”
“Some media are using despicable methods to hype China’s domestic affairs in Xinjiang and smear China’s anti-terrorism and de-radicalization efforts,” Geng claimed, referring to the publication of the Xinjiang papers this weekend. Geng referred to them as “clichés full of political bias and lies.”
The Chinese regime spokesman claimed there were “no issues related to ethnic groups, religion, or human rights in Xinjiang” and that the use of camps to involuntarily imprison, torture, and indoctrinate Muslims was necessary to “counter terrorism and extremism.”
“People in Xinjiang are living a happy life now,” Geng said.
“We will carry on implementing policies in Xinjiang as the region’s prosperity, ethnic solidarity and social harmony would be the best response to rumors on Xinjiang,” he conclunded.
The Global Times itself attacked Pompeo in a column Wednesday using nearly identical language to the official government.
“This U.S. State Secretary has been constantly peddling his clichés,” the Global Times lamented. “Radical political elites in Washington are adjusting their strategy of a public opinion war against China.”
“Pompeo and his likes have another malicious purpose: They are attempting to reduce the Chinese public’s resentment against them by shifting their attacks on China to mainly on the CPC [Chinese Communist Party],” the newspaper alleged. “They try to drive a wedge between the Chinese people and the Party, and solicit Chinese domestic endorsement for their criticism. This adjustment is undoubtedly carefully plotted, but only wishful thinking.”
The Global Times called the evidence of genocide in Xinjiang a “monstrous lie” and sang the praises of the Communist Party, claiming it “has led Chinese people to be truly independent, realize great economic growth in the past decades, fundamentally reshape people’s livelihood, and regain dignity in the world.”
“The CPC has dedicated itself to the great rejuvenation of China. This is a consensus of Chinese people, and many Westerners cannot imagine how unshakable it is,” the newspaper insisted.
Geng has spent much of the week firing back against the publication of the Xinjiang papers. On Tuesday, he dismissed the publication of the papers as a “vicious” attack on China.
“First, there are no so-called ‘issues’ related to ethnicity, religion or human rights in Xinjiang. What the Western media accuse are in fact local government’s efforts in counter-terrorism and de-radicalization,” Geng claimed. “The region now enjoys stability, ethnic solidarity and its people live a happy life. Is it certain people’s belief that residents in Xinjiang should oppose our positive measures and live in the shadows of extremism, violence and terrorism instead?”
On Wednesday, China’s national propaganda apparatus was specifically responding not to the publication of the papers, but to Pompeo’s comments at a pre-Thanksgiving press conference condemning China’s human rights abuses as exposed by those papers.
“These reports are consistent with an overwhelming and growing body of evidence that the Chinese Communist Party is committing human rights violations and abuses against individuals in mass detention,” Pompeo told reporters. “We call on the Chinese Government to immediately release all those who are arbitrarily detained and to end its draconian policies that have terrorized its own citizens in Xinjiang. It’s not just Muslims that are the largest – that are the target of the CCP’s hostility. Christians, Tibetans, and other minority groups have also felt the CCP’s heavy hand of repression.”
Unidentified sources within the Chinese government leaked what are now known as the Xinjiang papers to the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), which verified them and published selections through various member media outlets. The documents reveal the construction of as many as 1,400 concentration camps and the systematic use of torture and indoctrination to eradicate Islamic beliefs, the Uyghur language, and non-Han Chinese identity from the region.
Perhaps most chillingly, the documents revealed the use of technology to “predict” which Uyghurs, Kazakhs, Kyrgyz, and other minorities in Xinjiang may pose a threat to the Communist Party. Chinese officials follow the use of online applications, monitor the speech and text of citizens to look for requests for prayer, travel abroad, or any other “irregular” activity.
Much of what is in the papers, however, was already known through the testimonies of survivors of the camps, mostly Kazakhs who appealed to their home country to escape or spouses of foreign citizens who lobbied to get them out.
Concentration camp survivors have testified to brutal beatings, gang rape, electrocution, infanticide, forced sterilization, forced abortion, signs of preparation for organ harvesting, and, of course, murder.
“Any woman or man under age 35 was raped and sexually abused,” Ruqiye Perhat, a student arrested in Xinjiang in 2009 for four years, told the Washington Post in a recent interview.”

Chick-fil-A donated to the Southern Poverty Law Center and other left-wing organizations that promote abortion and LGBT rights, issues that run counter to the fast-food chain’s image as a Christian conservative business.
According to public tax documents first reported Tuesday by Townhall, Chick-fil-A donated $2,500 to the Southern Poverty Law Center in 2017 despite the organization’s history of hostility toward conservative causes.
SPLC is known for its controversial practice of designating conservative or religious organizations across the country as “hate groups” if those groups oppose left-leaning causes such as abortion on demand, same-sex marriage, or government coercion of faith-based businesses.
“Not only has Chick-fil-A abandoned donations to Christian groups including the Salvation Army, it has donated to one of the most extreme anti-Christian groups in America,” Family Research Council President Tony Perkins said Wednesday in a prepared statement.

“Human Rights Watch accused Iran on Wednesday of “deliberately covering up” deaths and arrests during a crackdown on demonstrations this month.
Protests broke out across sanctions-hit Iran on November 15, hours after a sharp fuel price hike was announced.
Reports of deaths and arrests emerged as security forces were deployed to rein in demonstrations which turned violent in some areas, with dozens of banks, petrol pumps and police stations torched.
Iranian officials have blamed the street violence on the intervention of “thugs” backed by royalists and Iran’s arch-enemies — the United States and Israel.
The extent of the crackdown remains unclear, however, primarily due to an internet outage that was imposed during the unrest.
HRW charged that Iranian authorities were “deliberately covering up the scale of the mass crackdown against protesters” and called on them to “immediately announce the number of deaths, arrests and detentions”.
The group’s deputy Middle East director, Michael Page, criticized Iran for having so far “refused to provide an accurate death toll and instead threatened detainees with death”.
London-based Amnesty International has estimated more than 140 people were killed in the protests.
Iranian officials have confirmed that five people were killed and have so far announced about 500 arrests, including of some 180 “ringleaders”.
“Keeping families in the dark about the fate of their loved ones while ratcheting up an atmosphere of fear and retribution is a deliberate government strategy to stifle dissent,” Page said, according to AFP…”
