Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. UK army covered up war crimes, report suggests
    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/europe/uk-army-covered-up-war-crimes-report-suggests/1648107

“A series of leaked government documents suggest British army has covered up various war crimes committed during campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan, local media reported on Sunday.

An investigation by The Times and BBC Panorama found out that “evidence implicating British soldiers in the murder of children and the torture of civilians was covered up by military commanders.”

Military detectives “unearthed disturbing allegations that senior commanders had tried to hide war crimes by British troops in Afghanistan and Iraq,” The Times reported citing the investigation.

The Times said evidence had been discovered of ”murders by an SAS [Special Air Service] soldier and deaths in custody, beatings, torture and degrading sexual abuse of detainees by members of the Black Watch (3rd Battalion, Royal Regiment of Scotland).”

The military detectives also discovered “allegations of the falsification of documents serious enough to merit prosecutions of senior officers,” according to the report.

Investigators from the inquiries have expressed frustration that compelling evidence was swept aside for political reasons, according to the British daily.

“Key decisions were being taken out of our hands,” said one investigator.

“There was more and more pressure coming from the Ministry of Defence to get cases closed as quickly as possible.”

    The investigation

The Times elaborated on the cases under investigation and said the crimes included the murder of three children and one young man shot in Afghanistan in October 2012 by an SAS soldier while drinking tea in their home, widespread abuse of prisoners in the 2003 summer at Camp Stephen, in Basra, Iraq and deaths of two detainees in custody.

Another crime looked into by the investigators was the fatal shooting of an Iraqi policeman in August 2003, which was covered up based on a soldier’s witness account. The soldier later said evidence was fabricated without his knowledge.

    Ministry of Defence rejects claims

British Ministry of Defence (MoD) rejected the allegations in a statement, saying their alleged interference in cases was “untrue”.

“Allegations that the MOD interfered with investigations or prosecution decisions relating to the conduct of U.K. forces in Iraq and Afghanistan are untrue,” the MoD said.

“Throughout the process the decisions of prosecutors and the investigators have been independent of the MOD and involved external oversight and legal advice,” a statement said.

The Service Police “have carried out extensive investigations into allegations about the conduct of U.K. forces in both Iraq and Afghanistan,” and the independent Service Prosecuting Authority decided not to prosecute any of the cases referred to it, according to the ministry.”

  2. Denmark to end consular assistance to Islamist fighters
    https://www.thelocal.dk/20191117/denmark-to-end-consular-assistance-to-islamist-fighters

“Denmark said Saturday it planned to withhold consular assistance from Danish citizens who went abroad to fight for Islamist groups such as the Islamic State group (IS) in Syria or Iraq.

The announcement comes days after Turkey began sending back foreign jihadists to their countries of origin, deporting Europeans including those from France, Germany and Denmark.

“We owe absolutely nothing to foreign fighters who went to Syria and Iraq to fight for IS,” Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod tweeted.

“This is why we are now taking measures against the access of foreign fighters to consular assistance by the foreign ministry and Danish representations abroad,” he said.

According to Danish news agency Ritzau, consular assistance usually consists of prison visits and discussions with local authorities about detention conditions.

If parliament approves the measure, it would “apply to all foreign fighters who travel to join the Islamic State or other terrorist movements”, Kofod told Ritzau.

“Denmark should not be forced to help people who turned their backs on us, represent a threat to Denmark’s security and fight against everything that we defend,” he said.

After a Turkish offensive in Syria forced many IS fighters to flee, Denmark said last month it would strip jihadist fighters with double nationality of their Danish citizenship to stop them from returning to Denmark.

In September, the government said it thought 36 radical Islamists had travelled from Denmark to combat zones.

Of the total, 10 held a Danish residence permit which the authorities took away, and 12 Danish citizens had been imprisoned.”

  3. German football referees strike over player violence
    https://www.dw.com/en/german-football-referees-strike-over-player-violence/a-51287190

“Spitting, racist abuse and physical violence — Cologne referees have gone on strike to protest against increasing violence among players. Many amateur league matches were canceled as a result.

Cologne referees went ahead with a strike on Sunday, protesting against growing violence at local-level matches.

A total of 76 amateur league matches in the amateur Kreisliga Sunday league were due to take place, but most were canceled because of the collective action, according to German local media WDR.

Worst hit were matches in the Kreisliga A division, though the strike affected divisions A to D.

Members of the Cologne Referee Committee reached the decision that it would not provide referees for the amateur level matches earlier this week.

The committee mentioned particular incidents against its members in an online statement posted on Facebook.

During a match between Blau-Weiss Köln and Germania Ossendorf on November 3, a referee was verbally abused and physically attacked by members of the away team and also had a glass bottle thrown at him after awarding three goals to Blau-Weiss Köln.

The statement also highlighted incidents of racist abuse and spitting.

    A clear signal against abuse

The referee committee wrote that it wanted to send a “clear signal against violence and increasing brutality to which they find themselves increasingly exposed.”

Referees in Cologne said that there had been 10 acts of violence against officials in the past season and another 56 cases of insults or threats.

“The development is alarming, a clear stop-signal must be shown,” their statement said.

The committee also demanded better protection at matches and an open dialogue between clubs, players, and referees to combat violence in the future.

The Cologne strike follows a similar strike by local level referees in Berlin against football violence, where the Berlin football federation said it had recorded 109 incidents of violence and discrimination, with 53 of these against referees.”

  5. Iran: Petrol stations and banks set ablaze as fuel price protests continue

Dozens of banks and shops were reportedly looted or set ablaze in Iran’s capital Tehran over the past weekend, as protesters reacted angrily to the recent announcement of a rise in petrol prices.

Footage filmed on Sunday shows a bank destroyed by fire and trashed petrol stations, with debris and shattered glass.

Demonstrations were held all across the country and turned violent since Friday, with demonstrators damaging public property and police forces firing tear gas. According to reports from human rights organisations, at least 10 people were killed during the riots.

Widespread protests across the country were triggered by Iran’s National Oil Company’s (NIOPDC) announcement of at least a 50 percent increase in gas prices, earlier on Thursday.

  6. France: Hundreds join far-right Generation Identity march ‘against Islamists’ in Paris

Hundreds of members and supporters of the far-right Generation Identity movement marched through Paris on Sunday, under the slogan “Against Islamists, we defend France.”

The protest comes one week after a crowded rally against Islamophobia. After the deadly attack at the Parisian police headquarters on October 3, the far-right movement called on supporters to take to the streets and denounce jihadists and all those who support them.

“We do believe that all Muslims are obviously not Islamists but that all Islamist attacks are carried out in the name of Islam, and we do believe that non-Islamist Muslims and Islamists are both part of a danger to our civilisation, which is Islamisation. Hence, the Islamist danger is safety related, (let’s say the danger of a) violent death from an attack, and the danger of moderate Islam is the propagation on our land and within our society of habits, customs, ideas and practices that are not ours and that we reject,” said one protester.

Generation Identity, the youth wing of the French based far-right organisation ‘Bloc Identitaire,’ was founded in 2012. The group has chapters across Europe and was classified as right-wing extremist by the German Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution in 2019.

    Jonas Kaufmann

    Rachel, quand du Seigneur
    La grâce tutélaire
A mes tremblantes mains confia ton berceau,
    Ah! Rachel, quand du Seigneur
    La grâce tutélaire
A mes tremblantes mains confia ton berceau,

  9. Ilhan Omar Pays $150,000 to Alleged Secret Lover’s Consulting Group – Report
    https://sputniknews.com/us/201911181077334832-ilhan-omar-pays-150000-alleged-secret-lovers-group/

“Rep. Ilhan Omar paid another $150,000 to Tim Mynett’s political consulting group in the three months after The Post first revealed allegations she and Mynett were romantically involved.

The Minnesota congresswoman’s campaign has transferred $146,712.63 to Mynett’s E Street Group since The Post in August reported allegations she was having an affair with her paid consultant, records obtained by the New York Post show. The latest payments to Mynett’s group were for digital advertising, fundraising consulting and video production.

Omar had reportedly already paid $223,000 to Mynett through her campaign since 2018 for fundraising consulting, internet advertising, digital communications, and travel expenses to the E Street Group — taking the latest total to $370,000.

Both Omar and Mynett have denied the allegations of having any kind of affair that led to Mynett separating from his wife in April. In October, Omar also filed for divorce from her husband Ahmed Hirsi, claiming the marriage was “irretrievable.” The split was finalized on November 5.

Conservative watchdog the National Legal and Policy Center filed a complaint against Omar with the Federal Election Commission in the wake of the bombshell report — seeking a probe into whether the Democrat used campaign funds to rendezvous with her alleged lover. However, the FEC has only three of six commissioner slots filled and needs at least four members to vote on complaints to start an investigation.

FEC spokesman Christian Hilland on Friday said the agency was still open for business but needed the US Senate to confirm a fourth member until it begins investigating campaign finance violations again.

“We are willing to accept reports but we are not able to move forward with any investigatory matters,” he said.”

  10. Uncovered: Antisemitic Social Media of Niqab-clad Election Advert Star
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/11/17/antisemitic-social-media-niqab-clad-election-advert-star-uncovered/

“Left-wing Welsh separatists Plaid Cymru have been embarrassed after the niqab-clad Muslim who starred in their election broadcast was linked to antisemitic posts on social media.

Party activist Sahar Al-Faifi was front and centre in a full face veil in the broadcast for the notionally nationalist Welsh separatist party, which wants to transform the small country into a “nation of sanctuary” for migrants.

Featuring Al-Faifi’s almost entirely concealed and apparently scowling face alongside the slogan “Wales, it’s us” in a now-deleted tweet, Plaid Cymru may have been trying to provoke the backlash which followed, giving them an opportunity to respond to critical social media posts with a declaration that “We stand with Sahar and all Muslim people in Wales and beyond” and that “abusive Islamophobic responses [are] unacceptable and will not be tolerated.”

The separatists may now be regretting using her to burnish their multiculturalist credentials, however, as they have now had to suspend her pending an investigation after a long history of allegedly antisemitic social media activity was uncovered, the BBC reports.

Curiously, the publicly-funded broadcasting corporation opted not to quote any of the posts that led to Al-Faifi’s suspension, leaving readers in the dark about what was actually said.

Social media users are circulating images which they claim are screenshots of her posts, however.

Many of the alleged tweets centre on whether or not the Jewish people have the right to state of their own in the Holy Land, with Al-Faifi — a molecular geneticist by trade — appearing to speculate on whether the “Zionist Ashkenazi” really have blood ties to the land, and the impact which genetic research into their heritage might have on “the Rothschild Jews and their branches in Palestine”.

One of the alleged tweets appears to show Al-Faifi in a state of elation over rocket attacks against Jewish Israelis, exclaiming: “Zionists ran away since the first rocket fell! YOU KNOW WHY? Because it is not their land! They do not know HOW to die for it”.

Still another alleged tweet appears to show her calling on Saudi Arabia to wage economic war on the West, saying: “If Saudi Arabia stopped producing oil for one day, the West would kneel on their knees [sic] & #Israel would disappear. Shame on Arab rulers!”

Al-Faifi was reported to be the South Wales and West England regional manager for Muslim Engagement and Development (MEND) in late 2017 by the Jewish Chronicle, which highlighted comments she made appearing to blame deadly radical Islamic terror attacks in London on “pro-Zionists pro-war individuals [sic] such as Robert Rosenkranz, Lord Ashcroft and Lord Kalms the owner of Dixons” who she claimed “make money from wars”.

According to her Huffington Post blogger profile she is also an executive member of Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) and assistant general secretary of the Muslim Council of Wales (MCW).”
