Eric Ciaramella, the alleged Ukraine whistleblower, was a guest of Vice President Joe Biden at a glitzy lunch in October 2016 to honor the prime minister of Italy.
Biden co-hosted the banquet with former Secretary of State John Kerry for then-Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi. Ciaramella, who is of Italian heritage, was among the U.S. officials who accepted an invitation. This week, the Washington Examiner reported that Ciaramella is now a deputy national intelligence officer for Russia and Eurasia on the National Intelligence Council, reporting to the director of national intelligence.
Ciaramella, a career CIA analyst, was Ukraine director on the National Security Council during the end of the Obama administration and remained there during the early months of the Trump administration, when he was briefly acting senior director for European and Russian affairs. He is now accused of being the official who filed a complaint about a July 25 phone call in which President Trump urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to look into a conspiracy theory regarding CrowdStrike and investigate Biden, a Democratic candidate for president in 2020, in relation to his son Hunter’s business dealings in Ukraine.
The complaint sparked concerns about potential abuse of power and led to impeachment proceedings in the Democrat-controlled House in which witnesses have said they believe Trump held out on meeting with Zelensky and congressionally-approved military aid in exchange for political favors.
Ciaramella, 33, is listed among dozens of other people who were invited to the October 2016 event hosted by Biden under the category “WH EOVP,” or the White House Executive Office of the Vice President, in an unclassified State Department document released through the Freedom of Information Act. An “A” appears next to his name, indicating he accepted the invitation.

“Britbox, which claims to bring the “best of British” television on-demand, has banned programmes like Till Death Do Us Part and It Ain’t Half Hot, Mum because they may be offensive to today’s audiences.
The online service is a collaboration between British terrestrial networks the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, and Channel 5, and was launched on Thursday, costing the same as its Netflix rival at £5.99 a month.
“We’ve carefully selected a wide range of the very best in British programming which will appeal to viewers in 2019,” an ITV spokesman said.
Citing “changing tastes”, an executive from partner network ITV, Reemah Sakaan, said that certain programmes would not be available because they have been deemed racist or otherwise offensive.
“We re-comply everything that goes on to BritBox, and the great thing about on-demand is that you’re not forcing anyone to watch anything,” Ms Sakaan said in comments reported by The Telegraph. Other programmes that have just slipped through the net of political correctness will come with “bespoke warnings” about potentially ‘offensive’ content.
While not “forcing anyone to watch anything”, the service inhibits the freedom to watch ‘what you want’.
Till Death Do Us Part ran on the BBC from 1965 to 1975 and centred on Alf Garnett — a bigoted character who writer Johnny Speight wrote to be laughed at, not sympathised with — and the relationship with his family, including his socialist, unemployed son-in-law played by Tony Booth, the real-life father of former prime minister Tony Blair’s wife Cherie Booth. The show was the inspiration for Norman Lear’s U.S. sitcom All in the Family.
The 1970s Thames Television programme Love Thy Neighbour, about a West Indian couple moving next door to a white English couple, will likewise not be available on BritBox. Trinidad-born Nina Baden-Semper, who played female lead Barbie Reynolds, had won an award for Outstanding New Female in programming in 1973. Fellow Trinidadian and co-star Rudolph Walker is now a long-time cast member on the popular British BBC soap opera EastEnders.
Reruns of It Ain’t Half Hot, Mum — the spiritual sequel to Dad’s Army which ran from 1974 to 1981 — were already taken off British airwaves after claims the programme was racist and homophobic.
Even without the censorship, the collection is incomplete as many beloved classic shows are licenced with rival networks. For that reason, BritBox cannot air programmes like Monty Python’s Flying Circus, Alan Partridge, Steptoe and Son (which was remade in the United States as Sanford and Son), and Dad’s Army.
There have already been calls from one ITV programme producer to ban repeats of Dad’s Army on British television because it allegedly inspires pro-Brexit feelings.
Cleansed of politically incorrect programmes, others that have made the cut on BritBox — like Fawlty Towers, Absolutely Fabulous, and Only Fools and Horses — may as yet find themselves at threat of being cancelled thanks to current-year’s shifting cultural sensitivities.
One example arises with the recent screening of Friends. The American nineties sitcom that was progressive for its time — for showcasing gay couples, discussing gender politics, and countering traditional life goals by having most of the characters remain childless, single, and still renting shared apartments until they were in their late twenties/early thirties — fell foul of contemporary sensibilities when screened on Netflix in 2018.
Some viewers had called the show homophobic, sexist, fatphobic, transphobic, and criticised it for lacking racial diversity. Despite complaints on social media, the service renewed the programme’s licence for another year. The objections from a minority appeared not to have affected the programme’s viewing numbers, with an Ofcom report released in August revealing that Friends is the most popular show on streaming services in the UK.
Analysts do not expect BritBox to become a serious rival to Netflix or Amazon Prime, according to The Times.”

“Greek authorities announced Saturday they had arrested three people and detained a further 15 in a “wide sweep” by the police’s counterterrorism squad on suspected left-wing extremists that also yielded an arms cache.
Another person is at large, police announced Saturday, adding that the operation is ongoing.
Two of those arrested, and the one at large, all men in their 40s, face charges of engaging in terrorist action, illegal possession of firearms and explosives, and forgery. The three allegedly took part in a robbery on a betting shop in an Athens suburb on Oct. 21, police say.
The third arrested person, a 39-year-old woman was arrested for “violating the firearms law” police said.
The counterterror squad’s sweep through 13 houses yielded, among other things, five AK-47 rifles, a submachine gun, two pistols, grenades, explosives and detonators.
Tests on the confiscated rifles showed that one AK-47 was used in the betting shop robbery and another was used in 2014, 2016 and twice in 2017…”

“In the evening hours of Nov. 9, 1989 the world watched as East Berliners climbed over the wall for the first time, celebrating a newfound hope and freedom.
The wall came down peacefully — and in Germany, the date is celebrated as the Peaceful Revolution. British historian Timothy Garton Ash called 1989 “The best year in European history” in a podcast released with the German Marshall Fund last week. It was, as he said, “the almost entirely peaceful dissolution of a nuclear armed post totalitarian empire; empires don’t normally collapse peacefully.”
Yet, 30 years on, that dream of democracy may slowly be turning to disillusionment.
Although the wall is down, in many ways the boundaries between East and West Germany still exist. Economically speaking, the former East Germany still lags behind the western half of the country. Many former East German states were hard hit by economic downturn after reunification and wages and pensions are still lower.
Enter the anti-immigrant far-right party Alternative for Deutschland, which has been most successful in the Eastern part of the country. Running on an anti-Islam, Euro-skeptic platform, the party has benefited from fears of foreigners, picking up protest votes by those who feel left behind by the centrist parties that have long dominated German politics, including Angela Merkel’s Christian Democrats.
While the environmentally focused Green Party has also been making gains, the growing phenomenon of right-wing extremism and the success of the AfD in the eastern half of the country can no longer be ignored by policymakers.
October’s regional elections in the eastern state of Thuringia sent shock waves throughout the country when Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union was outvoted by the socialist left-wing party, Die Linke, followed by the AfD, which gained 23% of votes. The majority of voters under age 30 chose the AfD, according to official polling statistics, suggesting a new, younger generation that hasn’t lived through the division of its country is in agreement with the far-right party.
The fact that Thuringia’s AfD party leader, Bjoern Hoecke is currently under investigation by federal intelligence agencies for extremist speech, which has included questioning Germany’s culpability in World War II, has not seemed to detract from his success. He has denied the existence of Nazi speech when questioned about using words associated with the Third-Reich, including “Lebensraum” or “degenerate,” as in a recent interview with German broadcaster ZDF.
Dresden’s “Nazi emergency”
Last week, the city of Dresden declared a “Nazi emergency” to highlight the city’s increasing problem with right-wing extremism. Passed by the Dresden City Council, the motion aimed to highlight the gravity of the growing problem of right-wing sentiments and violence and to ask the federal government for more resources to fight it. “We have a Nazi problem in Dresden and have to do something about it,” Max Aschenbach, a councilor for Die Partei, a satirical political party, who initiated the measure, told the council in his speech.
Dresden is the birthplace of xenophobic citizen’s organization Pegida, which stands for “Patriotic Europeans against the Islamization of the West” and has at times drawn thousands of supporters to weekly marches in the five years since it began.
Radical currents have long existed in eastern Germany, said Anetta Kahane, who runs the Amadeu Antonio Foundation which works to combat racism, right-wing extremism and anti-Semitism throughout Germany. “Everything isn’t sunshine 30 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall” she said, speaking to a group of journalists at the launch of the Yougov and Open Society Foundation study last Monday. Parties like the AfD, she said, build on attitudes previously held in East Germany.
A right-wing extremist protest culture began to grow in the 1980s in the former communist East, drawing members from the football hooligan scene. After the wall came down in 1989, right-wing radicalism boomed in former East Germany. Riots in 1991 and 1992 in cities of Rostock and Hoyerswerda saw racist participants attacking refugee shelters and hostels of foreign guest workers. Right wing-extremist activities continue today with the 2018 xenophobic riots in Chemnitz or the anti-Semitic attack on a synagogue in Halle which left two people dead in October serve as prescient examples.
According to Germany’s domestic intelligence service’s annual report released in June, the arrival of nearly 2 million asylum seekers since 2015 has emboldened far-right extremists motivated by racism, anti-Semitism and anti-democratic values. Violent anti-Semitic crimes in 2018 were up 71% from the previous year, stated the report. In June, pro-immigration politician Walter Luebcke was killed by a right-wing extremist outside his home.
One reason for this trend towards extremism in the former East is simply a historical lack of civil society infrastructure, says Kahane. “In the West there are large churches, and labor unions: powerful institutions that ensure a certain kind of social stability. In the East after reunification, we didn’t have that,” Kahane said. “Civil society infrastructure has to be built from the ground up and be made stable so that they can withstand right-wing extremism.”
Her organization sets up counseling centers for victims of racism, puts on awareness campaigns and works with local institutions to strengthen democratic processes — in the former communist East as well as the West.
“I’m happy the wall is gone — and I felt like that then” Kahane, an East Berliner, told ABC. “But how things have developed is a bit like something out of a nightmare. However, she stresses that society cannot afford to be pessimistic. “One has to work on finding concrete solutions and do one’s best.””

A spokesman for Iran’s atomic agency, Behrouz Kamalvandi, said that the Iranian government “legally speaking” had done nothing wrong in stopping the female inspector from touring its Natanz nuclear facility on Oct. 28.
Iran alleges the inspector tested positive for suspected traces of explosive nitrates. The U.N.’s nuclear watchdog has disputed the claim.
“The reason that this lady was denied entrance was that she was suspected of carrying some material,” said Kamlavandi, referring to the allegations.
He added that Iran was exercising its “rights” under its agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency when it revoked “her entrance and accreditation.”
It marked the first known instance of Iran blocking an inspector amid tensions over its collapsing nuclear deal with world powers. The U.S. unilaterally withdrew from the deal over a year ago.
Kamalvandi said Iran hasn’t imposed any restriction on inspections.

First case of dengue spread by sex confirmed in Spain
Madrid (AFP) – Spanish health authorities confirmed Friday a case of a man spreading dengue through sex, a world first for a virus which until recently was thought to be transmitted only by mosquitos.
The case concerns a 41-year-old man from Madrid who contracted dengue after having sex with his male partner who picked up the virus from a mosquito bite during a trip to Cuba, said Susana Jimenez of the Madrid region’s public health department.
His dengue infection was confirmed in September and it puzzled doctors because he had not travelled to a country where the disease, which causes severe flu-like symptoms such as high fever and body aches, is common, she added.
“His partner presented the same symptoms as him but lighter around ten days earlier, and he had previously visited Cuba and the Dominican Republic,” Jimenez said.
“An analysis of their sperm was carried out and it revealed that not only did they have dengue but that it was exactly the same virus which circulates in Cuba.”
A “likely’ case of sexual transmission of dengue between a man and a woman was the subject of a recent scientific article in South Corea, Jimenez said.

Former EPA official sees deep state tactics in attack on Administrator Wheeler lieutenant

Acting Inspector General Charles Sheehan is out to get EPA Chief of Staff Ryan Jackson, Mandy Gunasekara, a former official with the agency’s air and radiation department, told the DCNF on Friday. Sheehan told Congress in October that Jackson is refusing to participate in ongoing probes.

Malaysian Sultan Demands Russian Ex-Wife’s Son Be Raised Muslim to Get $250,000 – Report
An Islamic upbringing is only one of a set of demands put forth by a settlement between the Malaysian monarch and his Russian model ex-wife. It appears the settlement was rejected as it also included a non-disclosure clause.
Malaysian Sultan Muhammad V of Kelantan, former ruler of Malaysia who abdicated the throne early this year, demanded that his son by his former wife be raised a Sunni Muslim, but never contact him, if the mother wants to get a $250,000 trust fund, The Daily Mail reported Thursday, without disclosing sources.
The demand appears to be a part of a set of what the Mail calls “draconian” preconditions set forth as a settlement agreement between the monarch and his former wife – the Russian national and former Miss Moscow, Okasana Voevodina.
The report comes in the wake of earlier information that cited an unnamed palace source who claimed that Sultan Muhammad denied paternity and said the boy could be the son of “any Asian man.”
The purported trust fund would make monthly payments of some $1,500 to the child, increasing payments as the boy gets older. The sultan allegedly also proposed an additional $100,000 agreement in ten monthly payments to Voevodina.
According to the Mail, the settlement agreement not only demands that the child be raised Sunni Muslim – which includes attending all required rituals – but that the boy or his mother never contact the sultan and demands that Voevodina delete all her social media accounts, which have aggregated over a half a million followers, and delete all her pictures of the sultan.
On top of that, the alleged agreement imposes a strict non-disclosure demand, which, if violated, cuts Voevodina off from the money. According to reports, the insistence of a non-disclosure clause was not successful.
“Oksana is understood to have rejected the deal,” the Mail report says.
The proposed trust fund comes nowhere close to what the former beauty queen reportedly seeks from her royal ex-spouse. If the Mail report is to be believed, Voevodina originally wanted a settlement of some £20 million, as well as a Spanish villa.
More recently, she altered her demands to $31,000 in monthly child support and a $10 million London apartment. More immediately, she seeks a $1.5 million apartment in Moscow.
Voevodina says her son has royal blood and his father must provide appropriately. She reportedly vowed to go to a Moscow court to perform a DNA check to prove that Sultan Muhammad is the father, the report says.
The sultan and the Russian beauty queen married last summer, but before the New Year their relations had soured, earlier reports said. In January, the sultan abdicated the throne of Malaysia in an unprecedented move, and later this year left his wife using the harshest divorce ritual in Islam – by uttering “talak” three times – which is considered irreversible.
?According to earlier reports the marriage was doomed to fail from the beginning as the sultan wanted to keep the pairing a secret, but Voevodina sought to make it public.

“Women at an asylum home in Halmstad have claimed to feel increasingly unsafe around male residents who make abusive comments at them and try to sexually assault them.
The women, who make up one-fifth of the total population of the asylum residence, say they are so afraid of reprisals from the men living at the home that they do not dare to speak openly about their issues at the home, broadcaster SVT reports.
One of the residents, who the broadcaster referred to as Maryam, refused to show her face or give her real name while talking about her experiences.
“I’m not going out alone, because I don’t know what the guys will do. I don’t mean all guys are bad, but there are some who drink and take tablets and, when they do, they don’t know what they are doing,” she said.
The broadcasters spoke to at least five female asylum seekers who said they knew of incidents where women were verbally abused or had been harmed in different parts of the home. They also recounted occasions when men had tried to enter showers and toilets while women were using them.
The Spenshult home is the second largest in Sweden and holds around 500 asylum seekers, of which a fifth are women, and approximately 20 are children.
Women have faced problems in asylum homes and camps across Europe for years since the height of the migrant crisis in 2015.
In Germany, women fled some homes, along with homosexuals and Christians, due to persecution, primarily by Muslim men. In 2016, human rights campaigners called on authorities to do more to help protect minorities, particularly vulnerable groups such as Christians and Yazidis.
In Greece, the problem of insecurity for women has been common in various migrant camps such as the notorious Moria camp on the island of Lesbos. In 2018, the United Nations refugee agency went as far as recommending gender segregation due to the risk of sexual violence.”

Man, 52, accused of sexually assaulting three children
Three children were allegedly subjected to horrendous sexual abuse by a Toronto man.
The alleged offences against the girl and two boys transpired between 2004 and 2006, sources say.
The allegations were investigated by the Children’s Aid Society and Toronto Police in 2009 after the alleged female victim’s friend tipped off a teacher.
Mohammed Naufal Hadi Mohamed was arrested last week after the three alleged victims gave statements to police on Oct. 27.
The 52-year-old faces more than 50 charges, including 14 counts of sexual exploitation of a youth, 12 counts of sexual interference and 14 counts of sexual assault.
His lawyer, Fariborz Davoudi, said he’ll “vigorously defend his client on these serious allegations. None of the allegations have been proven in court.
“I will be seeking his release on bail,” said Davoudi.
Mohamed, a father of six and a forklift driver, has no criminal record. He remains in custody and will be back in court on Nov. 15.

France is to clear out some migrant tent camps, impose annual quotas for non-EU migrant workers and deny newly-arrived asylum seekers access to non-urgent healthcare, in an effort to show voters President Emmanuel Macron is taking action to tackle growing concerns about immigration.
M Philippe said on Wednesday the government wanted to “take back control” of the country’s migration flows, signalling its intent to end what Mr Macron recently referred to as a “lax” approach.

The centrist administration has so far resisted growing pressure from right-wing opponents on immigration, in part because many of M Macron’s left-leaning allies are uncomfortable with any measures they feel mirror those promoted by the populist far-right.
However, opinion polls show voters are increasingly worried about the issue, driving support for right-wing leader Marine Le Pen, M Macron’s closest political rival.
Mme Le Pen, for her part, dismissed the new measures as political posturing.
“If I was in a bad mood I would say this is a political swindle. As I am in a good mood I say this is smoke and mirrors. This is an electoral move,” she told Europe 1 radio later on Wednesday.
Voters too are unconvinced by M Macron’s immigration push, a poll published on Thursday found.
