A National Health Service (NHS) trust has announced that it will withdraw treatment from patients it deems to be racist or sexist.
The North Bristol NHS Trust announced that patients will be subject a “sports-style disciplinary yellow card and then final red card in which treatment would be withdrawn as soon as is safe” on its official website.
The policy would cover not just “Threatening and offensive language” but also “Racist or sexist language, gestures or behaviour” more generally, as well as “malicious allegations” — a rather troubling caveat, given the NHS has in the past been entangled in large-scale malpractice scandals which hospitals and staff have initially denied.

How low the bar for deeming behaviour discriminatory and sufficiently “offensive” to withdraw treatment is not spelled out in explicit terms.
For example, in late 2017 an NHS patient who requested a female nurse to carry out a cervical smear complained when the hospital sent a person with “an obviously male appearance… close-cropped hair, a male facial appearance and voice, large number of tattoos and facial stubble” who insisted “My gender is not male. I’m a transsexual”.
It is not clear whether the patient could have fallen foul of the Bristol policy had it been in place and the nurse had chosen to take offence — and nor is it clear how far the trust’s assurances that it will only withdraw treatment once clinically safe extend, and if patients could, for example, be denied diagnostic procedures or so-called routine operations such as hip replacements, for which many patients have to wait eight months or more.

The 17-year-old cousin of a former Conservative MP hopeful in the 2019 federal election and her friend have apparently been suspended from Stonewall Collegiate for refusing to wear a rainbow poppy.
Cyara Bird of the Little Black River First Nation, who was on the ballot for the Churchill-Keewatinook Aski riding of northern Manitoba this past election, took to Twitter tonight to express her anger after learning her cousin and another student had both been suspended for “hate speech” after rejecting the idea that rainbow poppies should replace the traditional red-and-black ones worn during their school’s Remembrance Day performance.
The young woman, who is half African-Canadian, asked instead to wear the red-and-black poppy traditional to the festivities, finding the rainbow poppy “disrespectful” to the World War 2 veterans in her family. Upon expressing her opinion, she and another student who shared her sentiment were sent to the principal’s office. According to Bird, the girl’s parents were not notified until after the suspension was applied.

Nearly twenty Berlin police were said to have been brutally attacked by far-left Antifa extremists during a demonstration in one of the city’s strongholds for leftist extremism.

Following the attacks in Leipzig and others in the city of Bautzen, the regional government of Saxony has formed a Special Commission on left-wing extremism (Soko LinX) within the police force as a special branch to tackle left-wing violent crime.
According to government statistics, there were a total of 222 left-wing motivated crimes in Saxony in 2018, a number that has dramatically increased to 305 so far this year.
As far back as 2017, Bern Palenda, head of the Berlin branch of the Agency for the Protection of the Constitution, warned that left-wing extremism was underestimated in Germany, saying leftists perpetrate “well-organized extremist violence and do not shrink from killing people, if necessary.””

Erdogan also said the number of people with family ties to al-Baghdadi who have been caught by Turkey “is close to reaching double digits.”
The Turkish leader’s comments were his second effort in as many days to publicize his country’s push to catch IS members who were close to al-Baghdadi. Turkey is facing criticism that its recent military offensive to drive Syrian Kurdish fighters from northeast Syria would allow for an IS resurgence.
“All of al-Baghdadi’s inner circle is mostly targeting our country and these people are looking for ways to settle in our country or to come to our country,” Erdogan told reporters.
Erdogan and Turkish officials revealed Wednesday that Turkish police detained one of al-Baghdadi’s wives and a daughter last year.
A Turkish official told The Associated Press that they were among a group of 11 IS suspects detained in a raid in southern Turkey on June 2, 2018. Police identified the wife as Asma Fawzi Muhammad al-Qubaysi. The official said she was the first wife of al-Baghdadi, who is known to have four wives. A subsequent DNA test confirmed that a suspect who identified herself as Leila Jabeer was al-Baghdadi’s daughter, the official said.
This week, Turkish authorities said they captured al-Baghdadi’s elder sister, Rasmiya Awad, her husband, daughter-in-law and five children in the town of Azaz, in Aleppo province in northwestern Syria. The region is administered by Turkey following a previous military incursion that was launched in 2016.
Erdogan said that the suspects were being kept in detention centers in Turkey while the Turkish Justice Ministry would decide how to handle their cases.
Al-Baghdadi blew himself up during an Oct. 26 raid by U.S. special forces on his heavily fortified safe house in the Syrian province of Idlib. Just days after congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) the second divorce was finalized, even more, campaign finance law violations are being found in relation to her affair with a staffer.
Omar’s marriage broke up after it was uncovered that she was carrying out an illicit affair with her finance chief, Tim Mynett. That relationship is not only problematic because of the moral and #MeToo implications but also because it appears Omar broke major campaign finance laws paying for her tryst.
After hiring her soon to be lover in August of 2018, Omar’s campaign paid Mynett’s company $369,000. This can be seen as a major campaign finance violation alone.
In addition to this though, the campaign reimbursed Mynett’s company around $25,000 for his travel with the campaign. If this travel is deemed to be personal in nature, that is a huge violation.

If you weren’t convinced that Trump confidant Roger Stone got the bum’s rush when FBI agents showed up at his Florida home at 6 o’clock in the morning in full combat regalia and with rifles drawn, then perhaps this will cinch it for you.
The judge presiding over Stone’s trial, U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson, rejected a request from defense counsel on Tuesday to remove a potential juror whose husband works in the Justice Department unit involved in the Russia investigation. The juror herself, moreover, served as a press secretary in the Office of Management and Budget during the presidency of Barack Obama. And if that’s not enough, the woman openly admitted during voir dire to harboring negative views of President Donald Trump.
At the beginning of jury selection, Jackson, an Obama appointee, said she would not remove prospective jurors solely on the basis of their working or having worked for the federal government or because of their views of Trump.
Stone and his lawyers have argued from the outset that their client cannot get a fair trial in Washington, D.C., a staunch liberal enclave. Yet requests for a change of venue have been denied.

Huge Security In Ayodhya, Eye On Social Media Ahead Of Verdict: 10 Points
Ayodhya case: Ahead of Ayodhya verdict, social media platforms are being closely monitored. Any attempts to inflame passions over social media may invite the National Security Act (NSA). Sharing and liking any contentious posts will attract police action.
With days to go before the much-anticipated Supreme Court verdict in the Ayodhya temple-mosque dispute case, the Uttar Pradesh police is all geared up with a four-layered security plan.
If one plan fails, the other one will be pressed into action, news agency PTI reported quoting a police official. Over 12,000 policemen have been deployed across the temple town ahead of the verdict. The Ministry of Home Affairs has sent 4,000 paramilitary jawans in the state and more forces will be pushed in early next week including the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) of the Uttar Pradesh police.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has asked all states and union territories to ensure “no untoward incident takes place anywhere” following the Ayodhya verdict. Sources have told NDTV that there are no plans to impose curfew in Ayodhya or shut schools or colleges down. “We want to portray a sense of ormalcy,” the officials said. The Supreme Court is expected to pronounce its verdict in the Ayodhya title dispute case before November 17.

OP Singh, the Director-General of Police in Uttar Pradesh, said that they are fully prepared and alert for the Ayodhya verdict. “We are carrying out foot-patrolling, holding peace committee meetings and have instructed all district Superintendents of Police (SPs) and magistrates to keep in touch with people and that no one will be allowed to flout the law. We have geared up our intelligence network and if required we will invoke the National Security Act against anti-social elements who try and vitiate the atmosphere,” Mr Singh said.
6. Ayodhya police have launched a mobile application connecting 16,000 volunteers in 1,600 villages with 10 volunteers each. These volunteers will keep a track on the ground situation and inform the police teams about any possible attempts to disturb the environment in the run up to the verdict.
7. The Ayodhya district has been divided into different security zones – red, yellow, green and blue – to avoid any untoward incident. While the red and yellow zones will be secured by the Central Para Military Forces (CPMF), the green and blue zones will be looked after by the civil police. The red security zone covers the disputed site, the yellow zone covers five miles periphery of Ayodhya, the green zone covers 14 miles periphery of the temple town and the blue zone covers the adjoining districts of Ayodhya, news agency PTI reported.
8. Seven hundred government schools, 50 Uttar Pradesh Board-aided schools and 25 CBSE schools have been taken over to accommodate the security forces, according to news agency PTI.
9. The police in Ayodhya and other districts are holding meetings at village level between the members of both communities and are also carrying out flag marches. Anti-riot drills are also being performed by the UP Police to prepare for protests over the Ayodhya verdict.
10. According to a PTI report, schools and colleges that can serve as temporary jails have also been identified across the district and elsewhere in the state.

Days ahead of the Supreme Court judgement in the long-pending Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute, Maulana Arshad Madni, President of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind on Wednesday said that Babri Mosque was a mosque in terms of law and justice and once a mosque is always a mosque.
The mosque existed for almost 400 years, therefore as per Sharia, it is still a mosque, he said while addressing a press conference. However, he clarified that “we will abide by the Supreme Court verdict based on evidence”. Madni claimed that people across India, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari are presently living in an ‘atmosphere of fear’.
The Supreme Court is expected to deliver its verdict on a dispute over the possession of 2.77 acres of land in Ayodhya district in Uttar Pradesh before November 17, when CJI Gogoi retires.
Yesterday, the Muslim clerics who met Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi at his residence ahead of the Supreme Court’s much-awaited verdict on the Ayodhya dispute, urged people to respect the apex court’s decision on the long-drawn row and asked people to maintain peace and calm.
The Chairman of All India Sufi Sajjadanashin Council, Syed Naseeruddin Chisty advised people of all religion to accept the court order. He also claimed that the council will issue guidelines to all dargahs and make an appeal to people to not believe in rumours and fake news.
Another Shia cleric, Maulana Syed Kalbe Jawad echoed similar sentiments saying that everyone should respect the honourable court’s decision and exhorted people to maintain peace and calm as the country primes itself for a resolution in one of the oldest legal disputes.
On November 4, Ayodhya Police had also issued notification calling out the rumour-mongers and cautioning them that strict action will be taken against those who will be found inciting unrest through sharing fake news, communally sensitive videos/messages on Facebook, Whatsapp and other social media platforms.
The district magistrate has instructed people to not make any defamatory comments against any religion, community, deities, eminent personalities on social media platforms. People have also been prohibited from organising any event regarding the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute. Section 144 has been imposed in Ayodhya till December 28. Those violating the orders will be booked under Section 188 (disobedience of an order promulgated by public servant) of the IPC.
The UP Police has assured that they are completely and absolutely ready for the verdict. The central government has given UP almost 4000 extra Paramilitary personnel to maintain law and order situation in the state after and during the SC much-awaited verdict on the long-drawn Ayodhya dispute. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has also granted 15 companies of paramilitary forces, including three each of BSF, RAF, CISF, ITBP and SSB, to Uttar Pradesh immediately which will stay in the state till November 18. These companies will be deployed in 12 most sensitive districts and cities in the state.
Strict instructions have been passed down to the police station level that no breach of government directives on security and law and order should be tolerated.
A five-judge Supreme Court bench headed by CJI Ranjan Gogoi heard the Ayodhya case on a day-to-day basis for 40 days and reserved its verdict on October 16. The court is expected to deliver its verdict on a dispute over the possession of 2.77 acres of land in Ayodhya district in Uttar Pradesh before November 17, when CJI Gogoi retires.
The Hindu parties have laid claim to the entire 2.77 acres of land claiming that it is Lord Ram’s “janm sthan” (birthplace) and the Muslims came in only after 1528 when a mosque was forcibly built on the ruins of the erstwhile Ram temple.

House Democrats Suddenly Drop Subpoena For Ex-Bolton Aide Who Asked Court To Decide If He Should Testify
House Democrats abruptly withdrew their subpoena for former deputy national security adviser Charles Kupperman, who had asked a judge to rule on whether he should appear before committees conducting an impeachment inquiry into President Trump.
Democrats yanked the subpoena for ex-aide to former National Security Adviser John Bolton a week after a federal judge had put the case on the fast track.
“The subpoena at issue in this matter has been withdrawn and there is no current intention to reissue it,” said a letter filed by lawyers for top Democrats, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Adam Schiff.
In the letter, the chairmen of the committees leading the impeachment inquiry asked Kupperman’s attorneys if he would accept a separate ruling on a subpoena that involves former White House counsel Don McGahn.

On Tuesday, a paper signed by more than 11,000 scientists declaring a climate emergency was published in the journal BioScience.
The signatories included climate scientists and researchers from other fields, such as microbiology, glaciology and oceanography.
However, at least one name on the list is raising questions: Micky (sic) Mouse from the Micky Mouse Institute for the Blind in Namibia.
When asked how Micky made it on the list, William Ripple, one of the authors of the paper, said in an email that he and his colleagues used a four-step process to check the signatures but that this one seems to have “slipped through our checks.”

The payment is the final resolution to a case brought by the New York attorney general’s office after the Trump Foundation held a fundraiser for military veterans during the 2016 campaign.
The televised fundraiser took in nearly $3 million in donations that were dispersed on the eve of the Iowa caucuses as directed by then-campaign chief Corey Lewandowski.
The two million must be paid by President Trump himself for breaching his fiduciary duty to properly oversee the foundation that bears his name.

Iranian authorities have notified the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) that a total of three of its oil tankers have been attacked over the course of six months, all in the same region – in the Red Sea, off the Saudi coast, The Wall Street Journal reported. In its letter to the international body, Tehran indicated that the attacks, which it argues were likely “organised by one or more states”, had impacted regional maritime security in a negative way.
“A major concern in this respect is that the organised and directed pattern of these attacks within a short time and similar locations have rendered the Red Sea as an unsafe route for ships to adopt for their voyages”, the Iranian letter reportedly stated.
Apart from the confirmed attack on the Sabiti oil tanker, which took place on 11 October, Iran reportedly mentioned two other occasions in the notification to the IMO. One of them took place in August 2019 and involved a tanker named “HELM”. This vessel reported suffering a technical failure in the Red Sea on 21 August, but provided no further details at the time and didn’t refer to the incident as an “attack”.
Another incident involved the oil tanker Happiness I and took place in April, according to the reported letter submitted by Tehran. The Happiness I also reported suffering technical problems while sailing through the Red Sea, near the Saudi port of Jeddah, but the incident was said to have taken place on 2 May. The vessel was later taken to the Saudi port for repairs, leaving on 20 July.
