Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  5. SPAIN BARCELONA – One dead and several injured as massive machete brawl erupts on Barcelona metro

    A BLOODY brawl on a Barcelona metro ended with one dead and several others injured after 30 thugs attacked each other with machetes last night.

    The blood-covered casualties were filmed lying semi-conscious in a pool of blood at La Sagrera tube station next to bloodstains along the length of the platform.

    The warring men – all thought to be Pakistani migrants – were filmed battling on the streets

    Footage from the incident shows two men, one wearing a Barcelona FC tracksuit top, lying on the tube with blood dripping from horrific wounds including deep gashes to their necks.
    The seats beside them are also stained red with blood.

    Two gangs of warring men – thought to be migrants, according to local reports – were filmed battling on the streets near Gorg Tube stop in Badalona east of the city centre.

    The men used an array of weapons including baseball bats, axes and machetes.

    One man died during the orgy of violence around 10pm last night in Badalona – part of the Barcelona metropolitan area on the other bank of the small Besos river.

    Nine others were later arrested.

    A spokesman for the regional Mossos d’Esquadra police force said: “We are investigating the death of a Pakistani national on Sunday night.

    “The incident occurred around 10pm during a fight between a number of people in an area of Badalona known as Salut.

    “One of the participants in the fight died as a result of the injuries he suffered. Two other men were seriously injured.

    “Officers from Badalona’s local police force the Guardia Urbana arrested nine men following the fight who are all Pakistani nationals.”

    ‘REVENGE ATTACK’

    Local reports said up to 30 men are thought to have been involved in the violence, described as a revenge attack.

    Although the exact reasons for the incident have not yet been made clear, some reports suggest the violence was caused over control of drug trafficking in the area.

    Badalona Police said the detainees are aged between 15 and 30 years old and are residents of the Badalona area.

    “he United States has given the remains of Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi a burial at sea and afforded him religious rites according to Islamic custom after he was killed in a US commando raid in Syria on Saturday, three officials told Reuters on Monday (Oct 28).

    Baghdadi, an Iraqi militant who rose from obscurity to declare himself “caliph” of all Muslims as the leader of ISIS, died by detonating a suicide vest after fleeing into a dead-end tunnel as elite US special forces closed in at the weekend, according to the US government.

    The US officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, did not disclose where the ritual was performed or how long it lasted.

    Two officials said they believed his remains were delivered to the sea from an aircraft.

    US Army General Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told a Pentagon news briefing on Monday that the US military disposed of Baghdadi’s remains “appropriately, in accordance with our (standard operating procedures) and in accordance with the law of armed conflict”.

    Given the gruesome nature of Baghdadi’s death, it was unlikely the US military followed as complete a process as it did after Navy Seals killed Al-Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden in a 2011 raid into Pakistan.

    In the case of bin Laden, his body was transported to the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson. It was washed before being covered in a white sheet, and religious remarks translated into Arabic were read over bin Laden’s corpse.

    Bin Laden’s burial at sea triggered mixed reactions, with a prominent imam saying the United States violated Islamic custom by not burying bin Laden on land, a move seen as a US attempt to prevent his resting place from becoming a shrine for extremist followers.

    In the United States, some questioned why the man responsible for the Sept 11, 2001, attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people was laid to rest with such respect.

    Milley did not enter into details about any of Baghdadi’s last rites. Milley said that before the disposal of his remains, they had been transported to a secure facility to confirm his identity with forensic DNA testing.

    “An Iraqi commander who played a major role in the fight against Daesh was killed, along with his brother, during recent unrest in the Arab country.

    Wissam al-Alaiwi was talking to protesters in front of his work office before being injured by thugs who attacked the place in Maysan province and burned it down.

    The thugs then attacked the ambulance that was carrying him and his brother following his injuries.

    A video that has been circulated on social media shows Wissam al-Alawi lying on his back in the ambulance as his brother is trying to stand up to the attackers who are trying to get into the car.

    Reports by Iraqi media indicated that al-Alawi and his brother were brutally killed by the attackers who set the ambulance on fire in cold blood.

    Martyr al-Alawi was a high-ranking Iraqi commander in charge of defending the western axis of Nineveh province and had a key role in the battle for liberation of Baiji in northern Iraq.”

    “More than 30 nations fighting the ISIS group will gather in Washington on November 14 in a French-initiated meeting as the United States pulls troops from Syria, a US official said Monday.

    Ministers from nations in the coalition against the extremists will “look at the next steps to increase the coalition presence in northeast Syria,” the official told reporters on condition of anonymity, reported AFP.

    French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian called for an urgent meeting of the coalition after President Donald Trump told Turkey earlier this month that he withdrew some 1,000 troops from northeast Syria.

    The US official cast the meeting as a way to seek more support from allies — a key priority for Trump, who often accuses US partners of being free-loaders.

    “This is something President Trump has been working on, both to get troops on the ground, airplanes in the air and money flowing to stabilization in that area from our partners and allies who are in the coalition,” the official said.

    The official noted pointedly that no European allies have stepped forward to send in troops to replace departing US forces.

    The meeting announcement came after Trump on Sunday announced the killing of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in an attack in Syria led by US Special Forces.

    Trump’s withdrawal has nonetheless alarmed European allies fearful of a resurgence of the intensely violent group, especially as Kurdish fighters abandoned by the United States had been guarding ISIS prisoners.

    The United States has said that more than 100 ISIS prisoners have escaped in the chaos as the United States withdrew and Turkey launched an incursion against the Kurdish fighters, whom Ankara links to separatists at home.”

    “The Iraqi army on Monday announced it would impose an overnight curfew in the capital as students and schoolchildren joined spreading protests to demand an overhaul of the government.

    Swathes of Iraq have been engulfed by demonstrations over unemployment and corruption this month that have evolved into demands for regime change.

    The rallies have gathered despite temporary curfews, threats of arrest and violence that has left nearly 240 people dead, including five protesters in Baghdad on Monday.

    The military said cars and foot traffic would be barred in the capital for six hours starting at midnight.

    The move sparked concern security forces want to clear out main gathering places like the capital’s Tahrir Square, occupied by demonstrators for four consecutive nights.

    An official source at the Saudi Foreign Ministry said the Kingdom closely followed US President Donald Trump’s announcement of the success of the US raid against Baghdadi.

    It added that Riyadh praised US counter-terrorism efforts against the dangerous ISIS terror group, which has tarnished the real image of Islam and Muslims throughout the world.

    The group has committed crimes and atrocities against the most basic values of humanity in several countries, including Saudi Arabia, remarked the source.

    “Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi has extended the state of emergency nationwide for the ninth time in a row due to the security conditions in the country. It will last at least for another three months.

    Although the decision to extend the state of emergency every three months is something that Egyptians have been used to since 2017, the latest extension came at a time when Egypt-Ethiopia relations are strained by the Great Renaissance Dam crisis. There is a threat from both sides of a military solution.

    The state of emergency was originally declared across Egypt after attacks on 9 April 2017 which targeted two Coptic churches in Tanta, north of the capital Cairo, and Alexandria, on the north coast. Forty-five people were killed.

    The Emergency Law significantly enhances the powers of the security agencies to arrest and monitor, and allows restrictions on freedom of movement in some areas…”

    “Egyptian officials say they’ve stepped up security in parts of the country following the death of Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

    The extremist group’s leader was killed a day earlier during a U.S. military raid in Syria.

    Egypt has for years battled an IS-led insurgency in the restive northern part of the Sinai Peninsula. Security forces have also fought IS and al-Qaida militants in the western desert along the border with Libya.

    Militants have carried out scores of attacks in recent years, mainly targeting security forces and minority Christians.

    The officials spoke on conditions of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief the media.

    Separately, Ahmed Hafez, spokesman for Egypt’s foreign ministry, called al-Baghdadi’s death “an important step in the quest towards eradicating terrorism.””

  18. Gunman Opens Fire Near Mosque in Southwest France, Injures 2

    “French police have arrested a gunman after he opened fire near a mosque in Bayonne, southwest France.

    Police arrested the gunman near his home after the incident.

    A statement from the Pyrenees Atlantiques prefecture reports the gunman injured at least two people aged 74 and 78. The two victims are seriously wounded.

    Police reportedly seized a gas cylinder in from the suspect’s car.

    The incident took place in front of the mosque at about 2:30 p.m local time on Monday, October 28.

    Reports said that the suspect was in his 80s and that the gunman also tried to throw an “incendiary device at the building.”

    The attack comes amid rising concerns over Islamophobia in France. The Hijab or Muslim veil is a hot topic in France after far-right politicians from the National Party openly attacked a Muslim woman in a meeting on October 14 for wearing the hijab.

    The issue urged French President Emmanuel Macron to intervene, drawing criticism from both opposition and Muslims.

    Macron said on October 24 that the wearing of hijab in public spaces is not his business.

    “However, in public services, at school and while educating children, the headscarf issue is my business. That is what secularism is about,” he added.

    Muslims represent 8% of the French population estimated at 65.10 million this year.

    France is also one of the European countries with the highest levels of Islamophobia.

    The Organization against Islamophobia in France (CCIF) has said that Islamophobic attacks increased by 52% in 2018 compared with 2017.”

    “A shopkeeper in Naushahro Feroze was arrested on Monday after he was caught on video mercilessly beating a minor boy accused of theft.

    The graphic video, which is doing rounds on social media, shows the boy being tied to a charpoy and then receiving a severe beating on the soles of his feet.

    Local police confirmed that the minor suffered fractures to both his legs due to the beating.

    A raft of violent cases against minors have been reported in the media in the recent past and social media has become a powerful tool in highlighting these cases.

    Last year, footage of a woman attacking a juvenile maid over “excess tea” caused social media uproar.

    The woman was seen striking the child for “making tea for a family” in the viral video.

    The maid was then subjected to a volley of (verbal) abuse and has her hair yanked.

    The video had stoked widespread social media uproar. Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari solicited public assistance on micro-blogging site Twitter to identify the woman.”

    “A total of 25,404 irregular migrants were pushed back to Turkey by Greece in the first ten months of 2019, up from 11,867 migrants in 2018, Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Oct. 27.

    “It has been identified from the testimonials of pushed back migrants that, after detained by Greek officials, their personal belongings were confiscated without any official procedure, they were subjected to unacceptable treatment and beaten and then pushed back to our borders under the company of the Greek officials,” said the statement.

    Turkey also invited Greece to stop forcing irregular migrants in Greece back across the Turkish border. “Despite Greece’s denial of the fact that irregular migrants are being pushed back to Turkey by Greek authorities, incidents of push backs of irregular migrants by Greek officials from Greece to Turkey continue both at land and sea,” the statement said.

    Underlining that Greece’s actions were in violation of international law, it added that they had been identified by both Turkish authorities and the Council of Europe, which had “requested Greece to stop said push back practices and to investigate these incidents.”

    “We invite the new Greek government to work on correcting this policy that is violating international law, instead of denying push back incidents, which we have every information and document of and which are also identified by the Council of Europe,” it added.

    The UN International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced last week that a total of 82,978 irregular migrants and refugees reached Europe by sea in the first 10 months of 2019, with 45,105 arriving in Greece — more than half the total.

    In 2016, German Chancellor Angela Merkel championed a Turkey-EU refugee agreement with the hope of stopping an ongoing refugee influx after nearly a million refugees had arrived in Germany.

    In the agreement, the EU had pledged 6 billion euros ($6.6 billion) aid to improve living conditions of Syrian refugees in Turkey, with only 2.22 billion euros disbursed as of June 2019.

    EU member states also pledged that for every Syrian returned to Turkey from Greek islands, another Syrian would be resettled from Turkey to the EU as part of a resettlement plan. However, EU member only accepted around 20,000 Syrian refugees from Turkey since 2016.

    Turkey currently hosts some 3.6 million Syrian refugees, more than any other country in the world. Ankara has so far spent $40 billion for the refugees, according to official figures.”

    “Turkey’s Justice Ministry said in a statement on Monday it conveyed a letter of extradition request to the Foreign Ministry to be sent to U.S. for the arrest of YPG/PKK ringleader Ferhat Abdi Sahin.

    The extradition request came after a red notice was issued for Sahin, code-named Mazloum Kobani.

    In Turkey’s request, Sahin is charged with “founding and masterminding an armed terrorist organization” and “disrupting the unity and territorial integrity of the state.”

    The extradition request was issued in accordance with the provisions of the “Treaty on Extradition and Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters between the U.S. and Turkey.”

    Turkey’s Foreign Ministry had previously submitted a request to the U.S. authorities to arrest Sahin if he enters the U.S. soil.

    Earlier this week, U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham and Chris Van Hollen asked the U.S. State Department to issue Sahin a visa so he could visit Washington…”

    “SOS Mediterranean and MSF said Monday in a statement that the ”prolonged and unnecessary time at sea must come to an end” for the Ocean Viking, which is carrying migrants rescued at sea and has been waiting for a safe port for 10 days. ”The Ocean Viking, a rescue ship chartered by SOS MEDITERRANEE in partnership with MSF, is still stranded, waiting for a place of safety for the disembarkation of 104 people rescued in international waters off Libya 10 days ago,” MSF said in the statement. The Ocean Viking has repeatedly asked for a safe port to land in Italy or Malta but it has not yet received a response.

    Libya has offered the Tripoli port but the NGos say they will never take the people rescued back to Libya. “It is unacceptable that for ten days now these vulnerable people have not only had to endure the elements of being stranded in the open sea, but also the uncertainty of not knowing what will happen to them,” said Fark. “This prolonged and unnecessary time at sea must come to an end. We urge European leaders to live up to their principles and allow the survivors to finally disembark to safety.” Louise Guillaumat, deputy director of SOS MEDITERRANEE’s operations, added that ”Europe can and should show more solidarity towards its coastal states”. Alan Kurdi, a ship run by the NGO Sea Eye that on Saturday took onboard 90 migrants from a dinghy in distress off Libya, is still stranded at sea and suffered rough weather conditions over the night. The German NGO noted that the ship had been hit by a storm and that the small ship needs a port immediately.

    On Sunday, a woman who is four months pregnant was evacuated by an Italian Coast Guard motorboat. The Alan Kurdi has asked Italy for a ‘place of safety’, i.e. a safe port to land in.”
