“Essex police were called by the ambulance service shortly before 1:40 a.m. BST (12:40 a.m. GMT) following the horrific discovery at Waterglade Industrial Park on Eastern Avenue, Grays, the Huffington Post reported citing police.
A preliminary search suggests 39 bodies have been found in a truck container in Essex, one of the bodies is allegedly a teenager, according to the Huffington Post.
Essex Police deputy chief constable Mills has stated that the police have not identified exactly where the victims are from.
“This is a tragic incident where a large number of people have lost their lives. Our enquiries are ongoing to establish what has happened. We are in the process of identifying the victims, however, I anticipate that this could be a lengthy process. We believe the lorry is from Bulgaria and entered the country at Holyhead on Saturday 19 October and we are working closely with our partners to investigate”, Chief Superintendent Andrew Mariner said as quoted by the Huffington Post.
A 25-year-old man from Northern Ireland has been arrested on suspicion of murder, police say.
“We have arrested the lorry driver in connection with the incident who remains in police custody as our enquiries continue. I appreciate this cordon is going to disrupt the activity of local businesses in the area and we will work to ensure that disruption is kept as short as possible. We are working with Thurrock Council to mitigate against any impact our investigation scene will have locally”, Chief Superintendent Andrew Mariner stated.
Reports say a cordon has been put in place and the Waterglade Industrial Park is closed off.

“Police intervention has been underway since the morning of 23 October in Saint-Raphael, in Var, southern France, Le Parisien reported citing the national police.
At least one man is holed up in an archaeological museum in Saint-Raphael, according to a tweet posted by the National Police. France Bleu reported, referring to a source close to the police that “worrisome” inscriptions in Arabic have been found on the scene, evoking “the museum and hell”.
BFMTV, meanwhile, has reported that one of the messages on the walls of Saint Raphael’s archaeological museum allegedly says “the museum will become hell”.
French police reportedly said they’ve detained the man who was holed up in the museum.
According to France Bleu, it could’ve been a cleaning lady who sounded the alarm after she could not open a door that was blocked from the inside.
A security perimeter of the area has been set up by police, hindering traffic in the area.
“Police operation at Rue de la Vieille Eglise in St Raphael. Difficult traffic conditions. Avoid the area”, the Var police department said on Twitter.
French media outlets have reported that it is unclear if the man is armed or if there are any hostages.

“Grenfell tower fraudsters have falsely claimed a total of £775,000, new figures reveal, with police only recovering £24,000.
Sixteen criminals have been convicted of siphoning off funds by posing as people affected by the inferno which killed 72 people.
They made claims to the victims’ fund totalling £775,000 in the wake of the tragedy in June 2017. Police have so far recovered £24,000, meaning £751,000 is still missing.
The figures emerged during a Kensington and Chelsea council meeting last week.
Notting Dale Labour councillor Judith Blakeman grilled deputy council leader Kim Taylor-Smith during the session.
Ms Blakeman said some families who lost loved-ones in the blaze had warned the council that fraudsters were trying to profit from their suffering.
“In at least two cases bereaved family members advised the council that people were claiming money fraudulently,” she said.
Mr Taylor-Smith confirmed that there had been 16 prosecutions of fraudsters who received jail terms ranging from one to six years, and that the cash recovered so far had been funnelled back into the fund.
Among those convicted was the council’s former finance manager, Jenny McDonagh. The 39-year-old joined the council under the pretence of helping survivors but went on to steal £62,000 intended for the victims.
Last month Daniel Steventon, 37, from Kilburn, north west London, was jailed for three years and six months.
He pretended he had been living with a person killed in the fire and claimed £75,225 in housing, services and financial support.
Some £28,981,945 had been raised for Grenfell victims as of January 2019, according to the Charity Commission for England and Wales.
Police are still investigating allegations of fraud connected with the disaster. It is possible that much more money could have been taken than is currently known.”

Extremist attacks intensify at Mali, Burkina Faso border (abcnews, Oct 23, 2019)

“Assaya Ngweba says Islamic extremists transformed his once-peaceful village in Burkina Faso, near the border with Mali, into “a place of misfortune and death.”
Now the 78-year-old is among half a million people who have fled the area this year as the extremists linked to al-Qaida and the Islamic State group increase attacks and expand their range in West Africa. Concerted military actions by five regional countries, along with a French operation, have failed to stem the violence.
The border between Burkina Faso and Mali is the latest flashpoint in the vast, arid Sahel region that stretches across Africa south of the Sahara Desert. In the past week at least 19 civilians have been killed by suspected extremists in Burkina Faso’s north.
The extremists have launched deadly assaults against the regional G5 Sahel counterterror force set up in 2017 with soldiers from Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania and Niger.
The worst occurred earlier this month when al-Qaida-linked fighters attacked two army bases in central Mali, killing at least 38 soldiers and leaving more than a dozen missing.
The attack in Boulikessi “was devastating for the military in terms of morale and strategic impact because it laid bare the jihadists’ strength in that crucial border region which is a bridge to Islamist expansion further south,” said Human Rights Watch’s West Africa associate director, Corinne Dufka.
Mali’s military had been trying to repair relations with Boulikessi’s wary population after a 2018 incident in which soldiers opened fire and killed civilians, a common abuse of power in both Mali and Burkina Faso, Dufka said.
Such actions by security forces push disaffected youth into the arms of extremists, experts say. Human Rights Watch has documented at least 200 executions since 2017 by Burkina Faso’s forces of civilians suspected of supporting or harboring extremists.
“Stopping atrocities in Mali and Burkina Faso are a key place to start for the international community in rethinking the strategy in the Sahel,” Dufka said.
The United Nations Development Program has said 71% of former recruits to extremist groups interviewed across Africa for a 2017 report pointed to the arrest, detention or killing of a family member or friend as a key driver of their path to extremism.
While Burkina Faso’s security forces are accused of being heavy-handed, Mali’s government might not be taking the increase in attacks seriously enough, said Judd Devermont, Africa program director with the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
Mali’s government should better address the drivers of instability, he said, but instead of sending more development and education resources to affected areas it prefers to focus on the more heavily populated south.
Even in the capital, Bamako, protests have emerged as people accuse the government of not doing enough to stop extremist attacks. Families of Malian soldiers protested this month as loved ones demand better equipment and training for the front lines.
Mali’s security forces leave many responsibilities in the central and northern regions to international forces including the United Nations peacekeeping mission and France’s Operation Barkhane, Devermont said, while turning a blind eye to armed militias. Extremists then exploit inter-communal conflict.
“The instability in the country is an existential threat,” he said.
Mali has been in turmoil since a 2012 uprising prompted soldiers to overthrow the country’s president and an alliance of Tuareg separatists and Islamic fighters took over large swaths of the north. A French-led intervention pushed the extremists from their strongholds but they remain active and are now moving into Burkina Faso, where some forested areas largely protect them from military air strikes.
The most formidable of the extremist groups is Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimeen, the Mali-based branch of al-Qaida and a multi-ethnic coalition, Devermont said.
Preaching in a variety of languages, the group is “adept at finding the divisions of communities and exploiting them,” he said. In Burkina Faso, the group waits to see how communities react to attacks before claiming responsibility.
Once-peaceful Burkina Faso experienced its first major extremist attack in 2015. The country is a gateway south into coastal West Africa, and regional leaders worry the extremists could be moving into Togo and Benin, where two abducted French tourists, an American and a South Korean were freed this year by French forces.
At the time, France’s president said the kidnappers were planning to hand over the hostages to “terrorists” in Mali.
A recent regional conference in Burkina Faso sought greater mobilization by West African states to help fight extremism. President Roch March Christian Kabore stressed that both military operations and sustainable economies are needed in the long run.
The coordinator of a civil society group, the Popular Movement for Resistance, suggested that local defense groups should form as security forces fail to stop the extremists.
“Instead of fleeing from village to village, from province to province and to Ouagadougou, we will not move anymore,” Aly Nana said.”

Having read through some of the comments it seems to me that the reason the HRC ruled against the plaintive was lost. IIMO that the HRC ruled against because it was made an international laughing stock for even considering this complaint.
It is worse but you are correct. The law firm that represented a number of her victims was denied the names or contact info for any of the other 15 victims of the HRC.
Lets be clear. The HRC and Yaniv are equally guilty of extorting these women by political correctness.
The law firm which did a pro-bono defence of their newest vic had to find the other 4 they defended themselves. So the HRC actually DENIED their other victims a defence.

San Francisco blacklists states with pro-life laws
San Francisco is bringing its pro-choice agenda to the national level. The city’s mayor announced a measure last week, which will blacklist 22 states that are considered to have restrictive abortion laws. All those listed have similar time restraints for terminating a pregnancy, ranging from a 13 week to a 24 week cut off.
Mayor London Breed defended the measure by saying, “every day in this country women’s reproductive rights are threatened and we have to fight back.”
Under the law, all San Francisco city workers will be prohibited from taking work-related trips or doing business with companies in those states. However, critics argue the city does not provide those states with enough tax revenue to encourage any real policy changes.

Hong Kong extradition bill officially killed, but move unlikely to end unrest
HONG KONG (Reuters) – Hong Kong’s legislature on Wednesday formally withdrew planned legislation that would have allowed extraditions to mainland China, but the move was unlikely to end months of unrest as it met just one of five demands of pro-democracy protesters.
The rallying cry of the protesters, who have trashed public buildings in the Chinese-ruled city, set street fires and thrown petrol bombs at police, has been “five demands, not one less”, meaning the withdrawal of the bill make no difference.
Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam had said many times the bill was as good as dead and said that other demands, including universal suffrage and an amnesty for all those charged with rioting, were beyond her control.
Protesters are also calling for her to stand down and for an independent inquiry into perceived police brutality during a long hot summer of running battles on the streets.
“There aren’t any big differences between suspension and withdrawal (of the extradition bill)… It’s too little, too late,” said 27-year-old protester Connie, hours before the bill was withdrawn. “There are still other demands the government needs to meet, especially the problem of police brutality.”

The media and House Democrats are trying to railroad the American people with misleading headlines into buying off on an “impeachment” that would shame a kangaroo court.
I think most people understand that, without having to go through the bill of particulars line by line. But just for fun, let’s briefly consider each point we’re being encouraged to ignore or believe wrongly about.
First – and this is the one that should be decisive and fatal in its own right – the House Democrats are holding secret hearings in which the people never see what questions are being asked, who’s asking them, or what we can independently verify the witnesses have said.
That alone should kill the “impeachment” effort. A president cannot, must not, be impeached based on testimony given behind closed doors. Nothing justifies it. This isn’t about what is due the president. It’s about what is due the people.

“After Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day speech in which he pitched population control, some states in India are actively working on a two-child-limit policy to keep the population under check
India’s northeastern state of Assam is set to implement a two-child-limit policy – candidates with more than two children will not be eligible to apply for government jobs in the State. The policy will come into effect from 1 January 2021.
Taking the decision two years after the Bill was passed in the State legislature, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal’s office tweeted:
“In a revolutionary move, the Cabinet (State’s council of Ministers) approved the Two-Child Norms and Prohibition of Child Marriage Act for entry and continuation in Govt. services.”
The law also outlines norms for electoral processes. It stipulates that the government may formulate a bill to prohibit voters that have more than two children from participating in local elections to the Panchayat (a governing body that acts on the village level in every Indian State) and Municipal Corporation.
A norm is already in place to bar individuals with more than two children from taking part in Panchayat polls in the State.
As per the 2011 Census, a routine demographic survey that India conducts after every ten years, the population of Assam increased to 3.12 crore (30.12 million) from 2.66 crores (20.66 million) in 2011. Assam’s total fertility rate of 2.3 is at par with the national rate, reported an Indian media agency quoting the government report.”

As LU’s Ben Bowles wrote yesterday, Donald Trump’s metaphorical reference to the House Democrats’ incredibly partisan impeachment inquiry as a lynching brought an avalanche of condemnation down on the president for his “racial insensitivity.” Black Illinois Rep. Danny K. Davis tweeted “The highest officeholder should think about these words. The rural south where I was born has a tarnished and painful history.” Another black congressman, Gregory W. Meeks of New York, added his two cents, tweeting “I don’t expect Trump to be sensitive to the weight of that word, or see how insulting and hurtful it is to invoke it here.”
What is remarkable about these reactions by Davis and Meeks is that both men in 1998 referred to the Clinton impeachment proceedings as a “lynching.” And, mind you, unlike the current circus, these proceedings were carried out jointly by both parties and in full view of the American people.
Davis and Meeks weren’t alone in calling the Clinton impeachment a lynching. Then-Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Wash.) said of the proceedings during an interview with the Baltimore Sun on Sept. 12, 1998, “This feels today like we’re taking a step down the road to becoming a political lynch mob.” But McDermott didn’t stop there. Instead he fully fleshed out the metaphor, adding, “Find the rope, find the tree and ask a bunch of questions later.”

Over a dozen Republican lawmakers gathered outside of the private meeting room Wednesday and told reporters that they would try to enter the closed-door deposition regarding the official impeachment inquiry into Trump. The House intelligence, foreign affairs and oversight committees are leading these proceedings after allegations that Trump asked Ukrainian officials to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden.
“We’re gonna go and see if we can get inside,” Republican Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz told reporters according to a video posted on Twitter.

The incident caused a delay in proceedings, Democratic Virginia Rep. Gerry Connolly said according to Rachael Bade, a Congress reporter for The Washington Post. The group also entered the room with their electronics, which is prohibited, Connolly added. Republican Texas Rep. Mike Conaway reportedly collected the electronics.
Multiple Republicans have tried to access the depositions and get transcripts of the meetings in the past, the Washington Times reported. One Republican said that the group “got in” Wednesday but were asked to leave, Olivia Beavers, a Congress reporter for The Hill, tweeted.

The representatives that tried to enter Wednesday’s closed-door interview don’t sit on the committees that are leading the impeachment inquiry into Trump. Because of this, they have been barred from participating in or viewing the proceedings. The official impeachment inquiry began on Sept. 24 following an August whistleblower complaint that cited a July 25 phone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which is when Trump allegedly asked about looking into Joe Biden.
Trump called on Republicans to “get tougher and fight” Monday against the House’s impeachment inquiry and also suggested that they need to stick together as some have openly critiqued the president.
“I think they’re lousy politicians,” Trump said Monday about Democrats during a Cabinet meeting. “But two things they have: They’re vicious and they stick together. They don’t have [Utah GOP Sen.] Mitt Romney in their midst. They don’t have people like that. They stick together. You never see them break off.”
Romney has openly criticized some of the president’s decisions, particularly noting that the July 25 phone call was “shocking” and a “mistake” during an exclusive interview on “Axios on HBO” Sunday.
“We certainly can’t have presidents asking foreign countries to provide something of political value. That is, after all, against the law,” Romney said.

“Police arrested some 107 migrants for their role in the riots that overran a migrant holding centre on the island nation of Malta.
A group of migrants set fire to five cars and a number of rooms in the Hal Far open centre, reports Malta Today. The five cars that were set ablaze belonged to employees of the centre, one of which was a police car.
According to a report from the Times of Malta, the riot began when a Nigerian man had been refused re-entry into the centre because he was drunk, a violation of the Agency for the Welfare of Asylum Seekers (AWAS) rules. An argument between the man and the police broke out, and when officers tried to arrest him, other migrants joined in and began fighting with the police.
The riot ended when riot police entered the compound in the early hours of Monday morning. Before being subdued, the rioters threw objects at the police, injuring at least one officer. Reports estimate that more than 300 people took part in the riots.
Some of the residents of the holding centre were ordered to take their belongings and leave the compound, a former British Army barracks. It is currently unknown when the migrants will be permitted to return to the camp.
At least 75 of the migrants were arrested and taken to the General Police Headquarters to be questioned.
Many of the several hundred migrants were brought to Malta after an agreement was made between Germany, France, Italy, and Malta on the distribution of migrants who crossed the Mediterranean Sea.

All three were investigated by the Internal Security Department and issued with detention orders for supporting two terrorist groups – the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria and its Indonesia-based affiliate, Jemaah Anshorut Daulah.
Parallel investigations by the Singapore Police Force’s Commercial Affairs Department found that between September last year and July this year, all three had collected or provided money to individuals in Indonesia on several occasions.
“They had reasonable grounds to believe that these funds would be used to facilitate terrorist acts overseas,” said the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in a statement on Wednesday.
Retno had collected a total of $100 on two occasions between March and April this year, and provided a total of $140 on another two occasions during the same period.
Anindia provided a total of $130 on five occasions between February and July this year.
Turmini provided a total of 13 million Indonesian rupiah (S$1,260) on five occasions between September last year and this May.
Collecting and providing money in support of terrorist purposes is an offence under the Terrorism (Suppression of Financing) Act…”

In a statement, police said the group belonged to the elite Quds force which runs foreign operations for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
This cell “had planned, among other things, a terrorist act foiled in March 2018” targeting a religious celebration of the Bektashi, a Sufi group, in Tirana, the statement said.
The ceremony was attended by members of the exiled Iranian opposition group Mojahedin-e Khalq (MEK), or People’s Mujahedeen of Iran, according to police.
In 2013 Albania agreed to take in some 3,000 members of the MEK at the request of the United States and the United Nations.
They currently live in a compound in the northwest of the country.
On Wednesday police published photos of three Iranians and one Turkish national allegedly involved in the “terrorist cell.”
The leader “resides in Turkey” and another “has an Austrian passport,” according to the police statement. Police declined to confirm whether international arrest warrants had been issued.
Authorities also did not say whether the incident had any connection to Tirana’s decision last year to expel two Iranian diplomats who the U.S. accused of plotting “terrorist attacks” in the Balkan country.
In January the European Union sanctioned Iran’s intelligence services after accusing Tehran of being involved in plots to assassinate regime opponents in the Netherlands, Denmark and France.
France accused Iranian intelligence of being responsible for plotting a planned attack on a MEK rally north of Paris in June 2018.”

“Police claimed to have arrested a gang on Tuesday involved in mugging foreign travellers in guise of security personnel after tracking them from Islamabad airport.
The suspects – dressed in police uniforms – parked their car outside airport exit in order to stalk foreign-returned passengers. They used to follow expats to rob them on their way back home after identifying themselves as law enforcers.
The accused gang recently targeted a UK-returned father and his son in Morgah when they were on their way back home from the airport.
They not only swindled foreign currency from the duo but also shot the father after he resisted the act of robbery…”

“A security firm said on Wednesday that fake smartphone apps laden with malware were targeting Pakistan’s military and government.
A report by Canadian company BlackBerry identified new espionage campaigns attempting to steal sensitive data from mobile devices, according to Associated Press.
BlackBerry did not identify who’s responsible for the campaigns but said it likely involved state-sponsored hacking groups.
The report, as quoted by AP, said one of the fake apps promised news about Kashmir…”

“A total of 527 irregular migrants were held in northwestern Turkey, security sources said on Oct. 22.
The migrants — who attempted to cross to Europe illegally — were held by the local gendarmerie forces in the ?psala, Meriç, Uzunköprü, and Enez districts of Edirne, a Turkish province bordering Greece and Bulgaria.
The irregular migrants that included Eritrean, Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Moroccan, Algerian, Syrian and Afghan nationals were later referred to provincial migration directorate.
Turkey has been the main route for refugees trying to cross to Europe, especially since the beginning of civil war in Syria.
Some 268,000 irregular migrants were held in Turkey in 2018, according to the Interior Ministry.”

“Turkey will never recognize the annexation of Crimea, the country’s parliamentary committee on foreign affairs head said on Wednesday.
During a meeting with Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkey Andrii Sybiha, Volkan Bozkir said Turkey always respects the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
“I want to repeat once again that we have never recognized, and will never recognize the annexation of Crimea,” said Bozkir.
He noted that they will continue their effort to improve bilateral relations between the two countries.
Russia annexed Crimea after a controversial referendum in 2014.
Turkey, as well as the UN General Assembly, viewed the annexation illegal.
Ukraine has also blamed Kremlin for separatist violence in eastern Ukraine, near the border with Russia.”
