Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Sex-trafficking gang found guilty in Glasgow High Court (yahoo, Oct 12, 2019)
    https://uk.news.yahoo.com/sex-trafficking-gang-found-guilty-glasgow-high-court-170857209.html

“A human-trafficking gang have been found guilty of bringing women to the UK from Eastern Europe and forcing them into prostitution and sham marriages.

Eight women were lured from Trebisov in Slovakia to flats in Govanhill between 2011 and 2017 and were exploited by the gang.

Five of them were brought for arranged marriages with Pakistani men while the others were forced into prostitution.

The High Court in Glasgow heard that one victim was sold for £10,000 outside a Primark branch in the city.

Vojtech Gombar, 61, Anil Raj Wagle, 37, Jana Sandorova, 28, and Ratislav Adam, 31, all also from Trebisov, have now been convicted of forcing women into prostitution and servitude.

All four men, who denied the charges, will be sentenced next month.

Police first became aware of the trafficking and exploitation in 2014 but it took a three-year operation before about 70 officers raided four flats in the Govanhill area, leading to their arrests.

Police helped more than a dozen suspected victims, aged between 18 and 25, to safety over the course of the investigation.

One woman, giving evidence to the trial via videolink from Slovakia, said she had been offered a well-paid job in England picking potatoes.

But when she arrived in Glasgow, she was sent to Ireland to marry a Pakistani man she’s never met.

Another woman told the court she was brought to the UK when she was four or five months pregnant, “for a better life”.

She was handed over to a Nepalese man outside Primark in Argyle Street, Glasgow, in 2014 for £10,000.

The woman also claimed that prior to being sold, she was made to sleep with Pakistani men for money.

Gombar was found guilty of 13 charges involving eight women, while Wagle was convicted of four charges, mainly involving one of the victims.

Sandorova was found guilty of six charges against two women and Adam was convicted of seven charges involving three of them. Sandorova is Gombar’s step-daugghter and Adam is her partner.

All three are Slovakian, from the eastern town of Trebisov, from where most of the women were trafficked.

Prosecutor Kath Harper said: “Vojtech Gombar shows a clear, compelling and powerful pattern of behaviour in recruiting, transporting and exploiting women.

“He exploited them by forcing them into marriage with virtual strangers from which he benefited financially, and/or forcing them into prostitution, from which he and associates benefited.’

One of the victims was forced to have sex with two or three men a day for at least eight months.

Ms Harper told the court: “Her autonomy was completely stripped from her and her body became nothing but a vehicle for Gombar and others to make money. ‘It is perhaps hard to imagine a more callous and uncaring way to treat another human being.”

Detective Inspector McMillan said all the women involved, most of whom are now back in Slovakia, were severely traumatised by what happened to them.

He said: “It is unbelievable in this day and age but, yes, women were being sold as a commodity in Glasgow.””

“Germany has banned arms exports to Turkey over its assault against the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) in Syria, a foreign ministry spokeswoman said on Saturday.

The comment confirmed a report in weekly Bild Am Sonntag…”

  3. Rudy Giuliani’s Business Relationship with Arrested Associates is Subject of Criminal FBI Investigation

Welcome to the Banana Republic of the United States of America where only Trump and his associates are under criminal investigation by the feds while the Democrats commit treason, extort foreign leaders and engage in pay-to-play schemes without fear of reprisal.

According to two sources who spoke to ABC News, the business relationship between Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani and the two Ukrainian-American men arrested this week is a subject of a criminal investigation by the FBI field office in New York and prosecutors in the Southern District of New York.

  4. REPORT: Turkey Bombs US Special Forces in Syria ‘By Mistake’

US special forces in Northern Syria were moved from their location after Turkish artillery exploded near the unit.

No US forces were killed or injured in the explosion and Turkey’s defense military claimed it was ‘by mistake’ in a statement released Friday.

  5. Berlin Police Release ‘Allah Akbar’ Migrant Knifeman Who Stormed Synagogue (breitbart, Oct 12, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/10/12/berlin-releases-migrant-knifeman-who-stormed-synagogue/

“Berliners have expressed disbelief after a Syrian migrant who stormed a synagogue with a knife yelling “Allah hu Akbar!” was freed from jail only a day later.

The incident occurred at a synagogue in the middle of Berlin on a Friday. Syrian migrant Mohammed M., 23, climbed over a security fence armed with an eight-inch-long knife and stormed the building while yelling “Fuck Israel!” and “Allah hu Akbar!” before security guards pepper-sprayed him, Bild reports.

Police subsequently arrested the 23-year-old, but he was released the next day. According to a police spokesman, the local prosecutor did not consider the man was sincerely trying to hurt anyone, just trying to threaten them.

Berlin defence lawyer Alexander Pabst expressed dismay as to why the Syrian was not assessed by a medical professional.

“In addition, one could at least have a suspicion of a particularly serious breach of the peace, at least,” Mr Pabst complained.

Others were far less generous in their assessment of the way authorities handled the incident. Gideon Joffe, chairman of the Jewish community in Berlin, labelled the event a failed terrorist attack.

“Especially at this time, an attack on a Jewish institution in the middle of Berlin must be comprehensively investigated and punished with zero-tolerance measures,” a spokeswoman for the Israeli embassy in Berlin added.

Bild spoke to the father of the 23-year-old, who said his son suffered from mental issues.

“I do not know exactly what he has. But we are shocked when it was he who threatened policemen in Berlin. We absolutely have to ask him about it,” he said.

Berlin has seen a surge in antisemitic attacks in recent years. A report released earlier this year claimed that there had been at least 1,000 antisemitic incidents in the city in 2018.

Last month, two antisemitic Palestinian rappers were scheduled to give a concert at a pro-Palestinian rally at the Brandenburg gate.

Following an outcry from the Israeli embassy and American ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell, organisers cancelled the performance.”

Retired Lieutenant Colonel Anthony “Tony” Shaffer joined One America News Network to discuss the current and ongoing attacks against President Donald Trump from inside the US government.

The latest attack by the shadow government is by highly trained intelligence officials in coordination with Democrat Party operatives and the fake news media surrounding President Trump’s phone call with the Ukrainian President.

We know now since President Zelensky has defended President Trump twice already that there was nothing unusual, unethical or illegal about Trump’s call with Zelensky in late July.

However, the Democrats, their deep state operatives and their liberal fake news media have succeeded in persuading a large swath of the US population that Trump committed a criminal act during the call.

  10. More on the Now Infamous Eric Ciaramello: He’s Connected to the Fake Steele Dossier and the Transfer of Funds from the IMF to the Ukraine

As reported yesterday, news on the Internet is spreading quickly. Many now believe there are at minimum connections between Adam Schiff’s leaker, aka the “whistleblower,” to the now infamous Eric Ciaramello – Obama’s Director of Ukraine at the NSC.

Here’s more on the infamous Director of NSC for Obama in the Ukraine. Somehow this guy is believed to be very close to the leaker that Adam Schiff refuses to provide to the American public. For starters, it turns out that the fake Russia collusion junk dossier was initiated on the same day by the same people that met Eric Ciaramella.

  13. Turkey’s Syria offensive ‘invasion’ of Arab land: Gheit (saudigazette, Oct 12, 2019)
    http://saudigazette.com.sa/article/579691/SAUDI-ARABIA/Turkeys-Syria-offensive-invasion-of-Arab-land-Gheit

“Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit on Saturday led Arab foreign ministers in lambasting Turkey’s military operation in northeast Syria as an “invasion of an Arab state’s land and an aggression on its sovereignty”.

Gheit added, during the meeting in Cairo, that the Arab League is considering taking diplomatic, economic, investment and tourism measures against Turkey.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Al-Hakim, president of the current Arab League session, also condemned Turkey’s offensive into Syria during an emergency meeting of the body, called by Egypt.

The offensive “will exacerbate humanitarian crises, increase the suffering of the Syrian people, and strengthen the ability of terrorists to reorganize their remnants,” Al-Hakim said.

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel Al-Jubeir said on Saturday that the Kingdom condemns the Turkish offensive in northeast Syria.

Saudi Arabia demands an immediate halt to the military operations, he added, saying that the Turkish attack is causing the Syrian people further suffering.

Al-Jubeir said that Saudi Arabia calls for finding a political solution in Syria, and demands that all foreign forces withdraw from the country.

The UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash also condemned the Turkish offensive in northeast Syria, and called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities to stop the Turkish attacks on Syria.

“We call for the exit of Turkey and its forces, as well as all foreign forces that have violated this Arab country — and to push for a successful political solution,” Gargash said.

Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Khalid Bin Ahmed Al Khalifa said on Saturday that the country rejects any aggression by any party against Arab countries. Al Khalifa called on the countries’ to maintain and confront any threats to Arab national security.

Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil, who was also among the officials attending the meeting, said that Lebanon rejects the attacks on Syria.

The foreign minister added that it was in the Arab nations’ best interest to protect the region.

Tunisian Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui said that the Turkish offensive in Syria will make reaching a political solution in Syria more complicated. He called for an end to the offensive, adding that it could lead to a humanitarian catastrophe.

Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, and Egypt previously condemned the Turkish military operation on Wednesday. The US and European countries have also condemned the Turkish move.

  17. Syrian Christian group urges NBC not to mislead public
    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/americas/syrian-christian-group-urges-nbc-not-to-mislead-public/1611071

“One of the world’s oldest Christian minorities, Syria’s Arameans, urged NBC News early Saturday not to mislead the public by covering a false report about Turkey’s Operation Peace Spring.

NBC News claimed Thursday that two Syrian Christians were killed overnight in Turkish strikes, citing the Syriac Military Council militia.

It also said that Baderkhan Ahmad, a Syrian-Kurdish journalist reporting from Qamishli city in northeastern Syria, said a Christian mother and her child were killed in his neighborhood.

In a Twitter post, the World Council of Arameans (Syriacs) said “zero Christians” have been killed in northeastern Syria during Turkey’s Operation Peace Spring.

“To media: please verify your sources. At least cite non-YPG ones as well. Rectify your current articles. Don’t mislead your readers and the public. Stop frightening our people at home!” it added.

Turkey launched Operation Peace Spring on Wednesday to eliminate terrorists from northern Syria in order to secure Turkey’s borders, aid in the safe return of Syrian refugees and ensure Syria’s territorial integrity.

Ankara wants to clear northern Syria east of the Euphrates River of the terrorist PKK and its Syrian offshoot, the PYD/YPG…”

  18. UEFA will ‘examine’ Turkey footballers’ military salute
    https://www.france24.com/en/20191012-uefa-will-examine-turkey-footballers-military-salute

“European football’s ruling body said Saturday that they will “examine” reports that Turkey footballers performed a military salute in their Euro 2020 qualifier against Albania to mark their country’s widely-condemned armed offensive against Kurds in Syria.

“Personally, I have not seen this gesture, which could be considered a provocation,” UEFA’s press chief Philip Townsend told the Italian Ansa news agency.

“Does the regulation prohibit references to politics and religion? Yes, and I can guarantee you that we will look at this situation.”

The salute was made after Cenk Tosun’s winning goal for Turkey in the game in Istanbul on Friday.

After the match, a photo was also posted on the official Twitter account of the national team.

In it, the players are seen making a military salute with the tweet indicating the players “have dedicated their victory to our brave soldiers and fellow martyrs”.

In Turkey, it is common for celebrities, including footballers, to show their support for the security forces after attacks or during military operations.

The Turkish offensive began on Wednesday after US President Donald Trump ordered American troops to pull back from the border area of north-east Syria.

Meanwhile, at the world gymnastics championships in Stuttgart, Turkey’s Ibrahim Colak made a military-style salute on the podium after winning gold in the men’s rings event.

It was not known if the gesture was linked to the military campaign.”

  19. British troops join the hunt to track down ISIS leader as ‘call to arms’ message backfires (express, Oct 12, 2019)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1190041/ISIS-news-UK-army-special-forces-Syria-Iraq-latest

“BRITISH troops were last night hunting the leader of IS after he issued a call-to-arms to his captured fighters, urging them to “rise up and fight”.

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi had been aiming to exploit the chaos caused by Turkey’s military intervention in northern Syria. But the move backfired because his message was intercepted – and special forces are now on his trail in Western Iraq. More than 30 SBS soldiers, backed by members of the Special Forces Support Group, were last night involved in the covert hunt, working alongside a US Special Operations task force to track and trace the digital information.

An RAF surveillance craft made the interception last week, recording a member of Baghdadi’s close-knit team, who was identified through voice recognition software.

The adviser is said to have been sending an audio message from Baghdadi to Amaq – the “ghost” extremist news agency of IS which operates on the dark web.

In the message, the jihadi leader, 48, encouraged all IS “detainees” to rise up and fight. The message was traced to Anbar province in Iraq. It borders Syria and has a population of more than 1.6 million.

Last night, the SBS team, supported by 120 troops from B Company SFSG, was driving across the area in pick-up trucks.

It is thought that the Turkish offensive in northern Syria will deter Baghdadi from moving back across the border due to heightened drone surveillance.

Last night a senior military source admitted it would not be easy to find him, adding: “Anbar province is huge and there is lots of scope to hide. It’s a bit like finding a lizard in the Mojave desert – you know it’s there but you have just got to keep lifting the boulders until you find it.

“But Baghdadi is beginning to make mistakes. He needs to be lucky every day – we only need to be lucky once.””
