Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

    • I suppose attacks and accusations on conservatives, true and false, in every way shape and form, are now the way of it. We don’t even know if this Smith is a conservative, or just took his paycheck from Fox. I do find it odd how, in an age when every manner of sexual deviency in the universe is celebrated by the Left (especially those of pure invention), a white male host on a conservative tv network must resign from his job. Can our empathetic Leftist friends not find just one more tiny place in their big hearts for men like Shephard Smith? Why must the Love Tent raised in the name of Inclusion, Diversity and Tolerance exclude this poor man? Can’t you at least give the guy his own prefix to help him identify? Granted, if this accusation is true (there must be something to it because he resigned) he really is a sicko. But depriving any creature of god of his own prefix is the most cruel madness imaginable.

          I normally open the TV around 7 pm but I’m not in front of it.

          Re Trump-hater Shep: He was FNN’s counter-balance to their Conservative agenda.

          Something serious happened to justify his sudden departure. It’s almost always of a highly personal nature that they don’t want to be disclosed.

          IMO, it wouldn’t be the first time Shep forced himself on a guy.

          Jeanine Pirro was suspended for two weeks for voicing a harsh reality. And Tucker Carlson also suddenly disappeared for two weeks after a controversial comment. So, why wasn’t Shep suspended? There was an online petition to suspend/fire Shep.

        • Love to see Beto O’Rourke tell all the mosques in America that unless they support gay rights they will lose their tax exempt status.

          There are so many contradictions and so much ridiculousness in this town hall video its mind-boggling. Chris Cuomo got heat for making an attempt at humor after Kamala Harris declared her pronouns … after all, it’s “violence” not to use a person’s preferred pronoun or mispronounce their damn name, etc etc. All this town hall was lacking is Justin Trudeau.

    A convicted terrorist who had planned to blow up Australian Federal Police (AFP) headquarters has successfully appealed his sentence, knocking six months off his prison time and claiming he will not pose any danger to the community following his release.
    Farhad Said was 22 when he and five others made plans for a terror attack on “the dogs” – meaning the AFP and NSW Police – and other government infrastructure, including the maximum security Lithgow Prison and ASIO headquarters in late 2014.
    It was to be “something major”, according to documents seized by police.
    “We are going to fight to Shahada [martyrdom],” the Bankstown Senior High graduate wrote.
    They did not. Police listened to their conversations over a six-week period and arrested Said’s co-accused in 2015 following dramatic raids on main plotter Sulayman Khalid’s Regents Park home the previous year.
    Eighteen months after the phone taps, the father-of-one was arrested and charged with his role in the terror plot.
    In 2017, Said was sentenced to nine years and six months in prison which on Friday was reduced to nine years with a non-parole period of six years and nine months.
    In appealing his sentence, Said claimed that his role was limited to documents containing only “three brief paragraphs” of information.

    He did not devote any “skill or industry” to those documents which were hastily created in just two days, the Court of Criminal Appeal heard on Friday.
    Since his arrest, the Tanzanian-born terror plotter’s behaviour inside the notorious Goulburn Supermax has been “unremarkable or praiseworthy”, Chief Justice Clifton Hoeben said.
    Said’s guilty plea – 12 days before the trial of all six men was set to begin – was proof he had denounced his extremist ideology, the court heard.
    At the time of the plot, Said was a follower of Wahidi Salafism – the “violent jihad”-focused ideology that inspires IS.

    Abiy has travelled across Ethiopia and visited diaspora communities abroad, preaching unity (and “preaching” is an apt term: veering away from the religions of his parents, Abiy is an Evangelical Christian). His rallying cry and the slogan for his administration was encapsulated in one Amharic word, Medemer, which literally translates as “addition” but more colloquially stands for “coming together”. Granting him the prize now could even strengthen his political position while he goes about making deeper reforms within Ethiopia as it prepares for next year’s national elections, which could be the country’s first ever truly democratic poll. The international community should support Ethiopia in these efforts, while holding Abiy accountable to the lofty ideals he has expressed. The situation in Ethiopia is precarious, but there’s reason to be cautiously optimistic that Abiy both can and wants to accomplish the transition that the country has long desired. (22 y.o) is all that in one person.The man, who was born in Kosovo and has a British passport, is said to have mistreated his girlfriends for months. The accusations in the trial at the regional court in Wadern: among other things dangerous bodily injury, deprivation of liberty. G. may be imprisoned for up to ten years.He was friends with his first girlfriend (16 y.o) from April to September 2018. The Muslim is said to have forced her to live strictly according to the Koran. Mirsad G. allegedly forbade her to contact her parents and did not let her go to school. He is also said to have beaten her repeatedly. According to the prosecution, he banged her head against a window pane until she was covered with blood. And he is said to have thrown a McDonalds drinking glass in her face – a laceration.His next girlfriend (18 y.o) is said to have suffered even more from him. “The accused, a strict devout man, decided to punish and chastise the victim, with whom he had had a relationship since the end of 2018/beginning of 2019,” the prosecution says. Mirsad G. is said to have beaten the young woman with a squared timber and whipped her with the cable of an iron.. And he is said to have hurt her on her arms and bottom with a cigarette and a stove poker from the fireplace and burned her. Consequences: Fractures of the rib, cheekbone and eye socket.After the abuse, the accused allegedly locked the 18-year-old in a room. She managed to escape from the apartment on February 25. She escaped to a neighbour who then called the police.Mirsad G. has not yet commented on the allegations. His defender Christine Günther did not want to speak to the tabloid BILD.The trial will continue on October 23.

  19. Paris Police ‘Disarmed’ After Suspicions of Islamic Radicalisation (breitbart, Oct 12, 2019)

    “Two Muslim Paris police officers have had their weapons taken away from them, with one suspended from duty, after allegations that the pair may have been radicalised.

    The first officer, a 39-year-old, was ordered to surrender his firearm on Thursday and suspended by the police force as a “precautionary principle”. According to his colleagues, the officer had married a Muslim lawyer in 2011 and began to grow his beard, pray at work and show other signs of religiosity, Le Parisien reports.

    In 2018, an investigation into the officer was done by the General Inspectorate of the National Police and the Directorate of Intelligence and found that while the officer was very religious, he was not radicalised. After divorcing his wife, he even shaved his beard and became less isolated from his fellow officers.

    However, since the killing of four people, including police officers, earlier this month by Muslim convert Mickaël Harpon, police have become far more cautious, with officers floating the idea that the 39-year-old could be practising “Taqiyya” — a form of deceptive concealment of religious belief which Islam permits.

    The second officer, a 34-year-old from Villeneuve-la-Garenne, had previously been suspended in 2018 after signs of radicalism but was later reinstated after a court appeal this year.

    He is said to have encouraged other Muslims to pray with him and refused contact with female colleagues — much like Harpon is said to have done.

    The officer also allowed the friend of a known terrorist to borrow his badge and firearm for a photograph.

    Christophe Rouget, deputy secretary-general of the union of cadres of internal security commented on the disarming of the two officers saying, “Vigilance must apply and it is necessary to detect radicalized officers. But it must be done with cold rigour, without falling into a witch hunt.”

    Earlier this week, some French officers claimed that they had been afraid of being labelled “Islamophobic” if they spoke out against Muslims they believed may be radicalised.”

    “French Education Minister Jean-Michel Blanquer revealed cases of a dozen Muslim public school teachers who have been radicalised, along with a far greater number of radicalised pupils.

    Blanquer announced ten cases of radicalisation on Friday morning, stating, “These are cases that can be of varying intensity, these are things that give rise to the first vigilance on our part,” broadcaster Europe1 reports.

    Blanquer said that while some of the cases may not seem overly serious, they were being taken seriously by authorities, such as a case in Torcy of a teacher who made “anti-republican remarks” in his local mosque. The teacher was dismissed from his position despite having no other marks against his teaching record.

    A professor of history and geography who works in Seine-Saint-Denis, the notorious no-go suburb north of Paris, spoke out about colleagues he suspected may have been radicalised, saying, “The teaching staff is not immune [to radicalisation]” and adding that he had already seen a Muslim colleague refuse to shake hands with women.

    “As a teacher, I do not have to intervene with the colleague to tell him what to think, what to do,” he said, but added he could inform his superiours asking if such behaviour is what the education system wants to transmit to pupils and others.

    The number of suspected radicalised students dwarfs that of the teachers, with there being as many as a thousand known cases, many concentrated in the Île-de-France region that contains both Paris and Seine-Saint-Denis.

    Earlier this year, a report from two French MPs revealed a large concern among public sector workers that their colleagues were also becoming radicalised.

    A trade unionist from the RATP, the company in charge of the public transportation system in Paris, claimed that “practising Muslims are targeting non-practising female believers,” among other behaviours.

    Police are also more concerned than ever about radicalisation following the stabbing attack in a Paris police headquarters by radical Muslim employee Mickaël Harpon, who killed four people.

    Some officers say they have previously been reticent with reporting potentially radicalised colleagues for fear of being branded “Islamophobic”.”

    “An Egyptian court has sentenced six people to death on terror-related charges for carrying out a militant attack outside a hotel near the famed Giza Pyramids.

    The Giza criminal court on Saturday also sentenced eight defendants to life in prison on similar charges that include attacking security forces, and possession of weapons and explosives.

    Another 12 defendants received 10 years in prison. The verdict can be appealed.

    The charges stem from an attack in Jan. 2016 on an Egyptian security post outside the Three Pyramids Hotel.

    No one was hurt in the incident, but the attack damaged the hotel’s facade and also a bus parked in front of the building, which was in use by a group of visiting Arab Israelis.”

    “An Afghan official says that a policeman with links to the Taliban has killed three of his fellow police officers at a checkpoint in northern Balkh province.

    Mohammad Yusouf Olamzada, Dawlat Abad district chief, says Saturday the attacker has joined insurgents in the area after killing his colleagues the previous night near the district headquarters.

    Olamzada says the policeman fled taking all weapons and ammunitions at the checkpoint with him.

    Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban’s spokesman, claimed the assault and said the attacker had joined the Taliban.

    Meanwhile in northern Kunduz province, Afghan intelligence services say a security operation killed three insurgents.

    Afghanistan’s National Directorate for Security said three other insurgents were wounded including their group leader in the attack in Chardara district on Friday night.”

    “The secretary-general of the League of Arab States (LAS), Ahmed Aboul Gheit, on Saturday called upon Turkey to immediately halt the military operation in Syria’s north and withdraw troops from the territory of the war-torn Arab republic.

    “We condemn this aggression. We call upon Turkey to immediately and completely stop all military action and withdraw troops, which have entered the Syrian territory,” Aboul Gheit said during the opening address to the emergency LAS session amid the Turkish military operation in Syria.
    The Arab League chief has warned Ankara about the full responsibility for the “possible humanitarian consequences of the aggression.”

    He expressed concerns over a “real genocide of the Kurds,” who reside in the north of Syria. According to Aboul Gheit, an approximate 300,000 people risk becoming refugees in the coming days because of Turkey’s actions.

    On Wednesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the launch of military operation Peace Spring in northern Syria against Daesh* and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, which Ankara designates as terrorists. The military action in the air has begun the same day in the Ras al-Ain town of Al Hasakah province, and the land operations have been launched shortly after.”

    “Amid Turkey’s ongoing operation in northern Syria, a number of countries, including EU member-states, have condemned Ankara’s actions and are thinking of imposing sanctions against the country.

    One person has been injured as a result of a clash between Turks and Kurds in Liège in eastern Belgium, RTBF broadcaster said on Friday.

    “One person was injured and sent to a hospital. The investigation to identify the attacker is being carried on”, the broadcaster said, citing local police.

    According to the statement, some 400 Kurds gathered on Friday on one of Liège’s squares to protest against the Turkish operation in northern Syria. Around 70 Turks gathered at the same place as well.

    ?Police had to use water cannons and erect cordons to prevent clashes. Despite all the efforts, the two groups clashed with each other.

    On Wednesday, Turkey launched Operation Peace Spring in Syria’s north, targeting the predominantly-Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Daesh* terrorist group.

    Ankara justified its actions by claiming that the SDF is affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, which Turkey has designated as a terrorist organisation.

  28. Exclusive: Turkey Attacks US Special Forces in Syria, Apparently by Mistake

    A contingent of U.S. Special Forces was caught up in Turkish shelling against U.S.-backed Kurdish positions in northern Syria, days after President Donald Trump told his Turkish counterpart he would withdraw U.S. troops from certain positions in the area. A senior Pentagon official said shelling by the Turkish forces was so heavy that the U.S. personnel considered firing back in self-defense.

    Newsweek has learned through both an Iraqi Kurdish intelligence official and the senior Pentagon official that Special Forces operating on Mashtenour hill in the majority-Kurdish city of Kobani fell under artillery fire from Turkish forces conducting their so-called “Operation Peace Spring” against Kurdish fighters backed by the U.S. but considered terrorist organizations by Turkey. No injuries have been reported.

    Instead of returning fire, the Special Forces withdrew once the shelling had ceased. Newsweek previously reported Wednesday that the current rules of engagement for U.S. forces continue to be centered around self-defense and that no order has been issued by the Pentagon for a complete withdrawal from Syria.

    The Pentagon official said that Turkish forces should be aware of U.S. positions “down to the grid.” The official could not specify the exact number of personnel present, but indicated they were “small numbers below company level,” so somewhere between 15 and 100 troops. Newsweek has reached out to the Pentagon for comment on the situation.

    Five Isis militants have broken out of a prison in northern Syria after Turkish shelling nearby, a spokesman in the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) has said.

    The detainees escaped from a prison in Qamishli city, Marvan Qamishlo said.

    U.S. military officials are preparing to deploy thousands of troops to Saudi Arabia. Officials have said the U.S. is still in close contact with Kurdish forces in the region and continues to work against ISIS forces there. Esper said the U.S. has pushed back against a Turkish incursion into the region and wants to reestablish the status quo while working out a safe zone.

    HONG KONG (Reuters) – Petrol bombs were thrown inside a Hong Kong metro station on Saturday but no one was injured, the government said, as pro-democracy protesters again took to the streets angry at what they believe is Beijing’s tightening grip on the city.

    The Kowloon Tong station was seriously damaged in the attack, the government said in a statement. Riot police deployed in the streets of Kowloon and inside several metro stations after the petrol bomb attack.

    One of the more ludicrous suggestions to have been made during Turkey’s military offensive against the Syrian Kurds is that, in return for Washington’s approval, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan would take responsibility for the estimated 90,000 ISIS fighters and their dependents, currently languishing in Kurdish-controlled detention centres.

    It is one of the worst kept secrets in Western intelligence circles that, for long periods during the brutal Syrian conflict, Mr Erdogan’s regime supported a number of groups that enjoyed close affiliation with ISIS, as well as other Islamist terror groups such as Al-Qaeda.

    It is, therefore, the epitome of hypocrisy for Mr Erdogan to offer to take responsibility for the ISIS fighters being held in Kurdish-run detention camps such as the al-Hol complex in eastern Syria. If that really were to happen, and the ISIS captives were repatriated to Turkey, it would, for some, be more like a homecoming.

    There is, fortunately, only a remote likelihood that captured ISIS fighters will be making their way to Turkey anytime soon, for most of the detention camps are located well away from the 30 km buffer zone on Syria’s northern border, the main target of the Turkish offensive.
