  3. Some years back, I went to a fancy dress party in Moorish-Turkish clothes – I did not wear brown face paint – it was fun, I think I won the 2nd male prize. The female winner had represented herself as a ‘scrubber’ ie washer woman, but it has other meanings in Britain. My bother went as a large bird and won first male. I regret nothing about it.
