Seattle Area Council Member Proposes New Plan For Homeless Problem – Bus Homeless People Out Of The City
Seattle has a massive homeless problem, perhaps only second to Los Angeles, California.
The city has already spent a fortune trying various things to solve the problem but nothing has been effective.
Now an area council is proposing a new fix for the problem. Bus them to other cities!

“The Libyan National Army (LNA) led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar said Friday that it foiled a Turkish-Qatari plot to target its airbase in Jufra, 650 km southeast of the capital Tripoli.
The LNA downed three Turkish drones belonging to forces loyal to the Government of National Accord headed by Fayez al-Sarraj.
As part of Sarraj’s Volcano of Rage operation, his airforce conducted four airstrikes on LNA’s air defense systems in Jufra on Thursday and Alorban on Friday.
Local media affiliated with Sarraj’s government quoted military sources as saying that the airforce destroyed air defense systems and LNA drones in Jufra airbase that has been under the army’s control since June 2017.
This airbase has a strategic location and is considered the third largest in Libya…”

“The Libyan National Army (LNA), loyal to renegade General Khalifa Haftar, announced on Friday that it had foiled a large attack on Al-Jufra Air Base, in central Libya.
Spokesman for the LNA, General Ahmed al-Mismari, issued a statement reported by Sputnik that his army managed to abort the attack before it had commenced, claiming that the plan of the attack was prepared by Turkey, and financed by Qatar.
“The army shot down three Turkish drones that attempted to conduct airstrikes on Al-Jufra Air Base, they targeted a terrorist gathering in Sirte that planned to advance to Al-Jufra with 19 vehicles, all of which were destroyed,” Al-Mismari explained.
He added, “we targeted another terrorist gathering, consisting of 15 vehicles destroyed in the area of Abu Nujaym, that was planning to advance to the south and we struck the Air Academy in Misrata, as well.”
Al-Mismari claimed that his army is controlling all of the Libyan skies, and reiterated that his forces are preparing for the battle to liberate Tripoli.
Tripoli is controlled by the Government of National Accord (GNA), led by Fayiz Al-Sarraj, and is the internationally-backed ruling body.
Haftar and his forces obtain unofficial support from many international powers, mainly in the West, as he was hosted by several of the Western capitals, specifically Paris.”

“Many ISIS members have actually returned to Europe, said EU Counter-Terrorism Coordinator Gilles De Kerchove.
He added that some have been killed in fighting areas and others’ fate is unknown as they might have gone to Libya or Afghanistan.
In his statement to Asharq Al-Awsat, De Kerchove warned of ISIS activities elsewhere, following their defeat in Syria and Iraq, with the continued activity of their leaders there so far.
The European official pointed to the terrorist group’s activities in other parts of the world.
His remarks were made on the sidelines of launching the first European anti-terrorism judicial record under the supervision of the European Justice Agency (Eurojust).
Responding to a question on the importance of this judicial record, De Kerchove said it aims at linking parts of the case together in order to have access to its details.
Intelligence and security agencies exchange information and this is what we need to do for judicial information, he explained.
Such record allows concerned parties to know about the ongoing trials and verdicts, which facilitates linking figures and organizations and finding the relationship between terrorism and organized crime, he further noted.
Regarding the return of European foreign fighters from conflict zones, he said “there is no unified decision on the European fighters detained in Syria and Iraq.”
“European countries want to pursue their cases, and we are working to collect information that allows their prosecution.”
“We are also considering the possibility of their return, but, so far, there is no final decision at the level of the European Union on dealing with the European ISIS militants,” he stressed.
De Kerchove pointed out that this case also has a humanitarian dimension, which is represented in ISIS militants’ widows and children and the difficult circumstances in which they live within camps opened to receive them.
Regarding the possibility of prosecuting European fighters, he said: “we can help, and we will have a role.”
“We have shown willingness to cooperate, and we have already made several contacts,” the EU official said.
“It is important that in case these people returned, we have a judicial record including all the information about them.”
Concerning fears of ISIS re-emergence in another country after its defeat in the border area between Syria and Iraq, he said ISIS already still exists through its influence on people in different parts of the world.
He gave as an example the attack targeting a church in Sri Lanka, which killed a great number of civilians.
“ISIS leaders are still active in several areas in Syria and Iraq and are developing terrorist schemes. So, it is not easy for anyone to say that ISIS is over.”
It is noteworthy that a number of European capitals, including Brussels, The Hague, London, Paris, and others, have been facing great controversy for some time now on the issue of the return of ISIS militants’ widows and children.
This controversy began to intensify after US President Donald Trump had called on European countries to receive 800 foreign fighters holding European nationality and were detained in Kurdish-controlled camps in northeastern Syria.”

“Turkey has ordered the arrest of 223 serving military personnel across the country and in the breakaway state of Northern Cyprus over suspected links to a network Ankara accuses of organising an attempted coup in 2016, state media said on Saturday, reports Reuters.
Authorities are seeking the suspects across 49 provinces in Turkey and in Northern Cyprus, state broadcaster TRT Haber said. It said 100 of those facing arrest were from the army, while 41 from the air force and 32 from the navy.
Ankara blames US-based Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen, who has lived in self-imposed exile in Pennsylvania since 1999, of masterminding the failed putsch on July 15, 2016. He has denied any involvement.
In the three-year purge since the coup attempt, more than 77,000 people have been jailed pending trial and about 150,000 civil servants, military personnel and others have been sacked or suspended from their jobs.
Turkey’s Western allies and rights groups have criticised the scale of the crackdown, saying President Tayyip Erdogan has used the abortive coup as a pretext to quash dissent.
Ankara has defended the measures as a necessary response to the scale of the security threat which Turkey faces, vowing to eradicate Gulen’s network.”
New Report Explores Security Challenges Associated with Return of ISIS Widows (mwn, Sep 14, 2019)

“A new report has warned against the danger of receiving ISIS widows, pointing out that many of them could still pose serious security threats to their countries of origin or adoption.
The report, carried out by a Brussels-based organization for monitoring the return former wives of ISIS fighters, found out that while many of the returning “ISIS brides” are ready to readjust to normal life and forgo of the radical lifestyle they lived under while in ISIS strongholds in Iraq and Syria, a significant number could still be serious security threats.
Among the returnees and prospective returnees monitored in the study are various European nationalities, including 10 Belgians of Moroccan descent, Morocco’s Arabic outlet Al Ahdath Al Maghribia reported on September 14.
According to the paper, many of these women joined the terrorist group young and impressionable and underwent some radicalization training.
While Morocco has not particularly been concerned with the return of ISIS widows, the Al Ahdath Al Maghribia report indicates that dozens of Moroccan women, formerly married to ISIS fighters, are currently living in Kurdish refugee centers in the custody of Kurdish fighters credited with liberating many of the former ISIS strongholds. This means that Morocco, too, should prepare for the challenge of returning ISIS widows, according to the report.
The report comes in the wake of hot debates in Europe and the US around the fate of ISIS widows and their children.
In the UK, the Shamima Begum case sparked controversy earlier this year.
Begum was 15 in February 2015 when she left the UK with three other school girls to join the then Islamic caliphate. Now 19 and a mother of one, the former ISIS bride has expressed remorse for her decision to join the terrorist group and said she wants to return home to the UK to give her son the chance to have a normal life.
Opinions were divided in the UK, with some advocating for her return and others arguing for Begum to be stripped of her British citizenship and be denied entrance to the UK. The British government is so far siding with the anti-return camp in the intricate matter of returning ISIS brides.
Begum’s story ignited a wave of emotional support in the UK, government critics pointing to the callous decision of refusing return to a young, remorseful mother. Her son has since died; she had several children who have also all died. The most recent was born and died while she was waiting to hear from the Home Office if she could return to the UK.
In a similar instance in the US, Hoda Muthana, who left her family and university studies in Alabama to join the terrorist group, has also expressed profound regret for her decision. The former ISIS bride has also begged to return home with her son, but has so far been met with steady refusal from the Trump administration.
In its report, the Brussels-based group argued that the number of former ISIS brides poised for normal life and genuinely remorseful for their involvement with ISIS far outweighs that of those that could still be security threats.
It recommends that, despite the serious security challenges, countries should receive these former ISIS brides and hold them in rehabilitation or deradicalization centers until they are fully ready to lead normal, radicalization-free lives in the countries to which they choose they return.”

“Four Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred and one was injured in two separate terrorist attacks in the border regions of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the military said on Saturday.
The first attack took place in Upper Dir district near the border with Afghanistan, ISPR, the military’s media wing, said in a statement. Terrorists from across the border fired at soldiers fencing the porous frontier which resulted in the martyrdom of three troops.
One soldier was also injured in the attack, according to the ISPR.
In a separate incident in North Waziristan tribal district, terrorists opened fire on a patrol of security forces near Abba Khel in Spin Wam area. One soldier was martyred in the attack that took place on Friday night.

The operation is ongoing in the region, the statement added.

“A firebrand Pakistani political leader and religious scholar Tahir-ul-Qadri on Saturday announced his retirement from politics.
In a video message from Canada, where he has been settled for several years, Qadri also announced to resign from the leadership of his Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) party, which has a sizable vote bank in parts of northeastern Punjab, the country’s largest province.
“I am retiring from Pakistani politics, political activities , and my post as PAT chairman,” Qadri said without citing any reasons.
This is not for the first time, he has announced to give up politics. In 2004, Qadri had resigned from the parliament and moved to Canada for “preaching” purpose.
Qadri made his comeback in Pakistani politics in 2012 when he together with thousands of his followers staged a four-day long sit-in outside the capital Islamabad to “save state, not system.”
In June 2014, some 14 PAT activists were killed and over 100 injured when police opened fire to disperse activists during a drive against illegally established settlements outside his resident in Lahore city.
A couple of months after Lahore incident, PAT together with the then opposition and now ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had besieged Islamabad for four months seeking resignation of then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over alleged rigging in 2013 general elections and killing of the party activists.
At least five people, including policemen, were killed and dozens injured in clashes between the activists and law enforcing agencies during the four-month long sit-in in the capital.
In April this year, an anti-terrorism court, sentenced over 100 activists of the PAT in jail for their involvement in violence during 2014 sit-in.
“Our legal battle for the Model Town incident will continue till my last breath,” Qadri said, adding: “That is not a matter of politics, it is a matter of faith,” Qadri said in his message.
Once a close friend of jailed former premier Sharif, Qadri started off as a preacher at a mosque in Sharif family’s iron factory “Ittifaq Foundry” in late 1970s. Later, he founded Minhaj ul Quran — a non-profit providing education, religious and cultural services — in October 1981.
In 1989, he founded a political party, the PAT, which could not perform well in the parliamentary politics.
Qadri himself was the only PAT leader who could get elected as a member of the lower house — the National Assembly — in 2002 elections from Lahore, the capital of Punjab.”
