“At least four people have sustained injuries in a blast of an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Philippines’ Sultan Kudarat province on the southern Mindanao island early on Saturday, PNA news agency reported citing police.
“The suspected IED was placed at a terminal for motorcycles in front of the public market,” Lt. Col. Junie Buenacosa, the police chief of the provincial capital of Insula, said, as quoted by the PNA news outlet.
The police chief added that a traffic police officer was among those injured by the explosion. He was hospitalised.
According to the media outlet, an unidentified perpetrator set off the device outside a market in the city.
Mindanao is home to a large portion of the Philippines’ Muslim population.
Insulan has repeatedly been targeted by bombings over recent years. In 2018, two explosions killed five people and wounded 45 others. Moreover, in April, another blast targeted the same highway, where the market hit on Saturday is located, according to PNA.
The agency noted that a militant group linked to the Daesh* terrorist organisation had been blamed for the April bombing.

“The White House is considering a plan significantly cutting back a decades-old program, according to current and former administration officials.
One option that top officials are weighing would cut refugee admissions by half or more, to 10,000 to 15,000 people, with most of the spots coming with specific requirements, the New York Times reported. For example, those who may enter the refugee program include people from a few countries or from groups with special status, such as Iraqis and Afghans working alongside American troops, diplomats and intelligence operatives abroad.
Another option, reportedly proposed by a top administration official, would reduce refugee admissions to zero, while leaving the president with the ability to admit some in an emergency.
The issue is expected to be raised on Tuesday, when White House officials plan to hold a high-level meeting to discuss the annual number of refugee admissions for the coming year, as determined by President Trump.
The refugee program had previously been capped by Stephen Miller, Trump’s top immigration adviser, limiting the entry at 30,000 refugees for 2019 – a more than 70 percent cut from its level when President Barack Obama left office. Miller and his team at the Departments of State and Homeland Security are pushing to shrink the program even further following the president’s aim to reduce the number of documented and undocumented immigrants entering the United States, according to one senior official involved in the discussions and several former officials briefed on them, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to detail the private deliberations.
Two years ago, the refugee program was capped at 45,000 for 2018, supported by then-secretary of state Rex W. Tillerson and then-secretary of defence Mattis. After Mile Pompeo became the secretary of state and Mattis left the cabinet, the president dropped the ceiling to 30,000.
In his announcement last year, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo argued that because of a recent surge of asylum seekers at the southwestern border, there was less of a need for the United States to accept refugees from abroad.
“This year’s refugee ceiling reflects the substantial increase in the number of individuals seeking asylum in our country, leading to a massive backlog of outstanding asylum cases and greater public expense,” Pompeo said at the time.”

A 17-year-old injured a woman with a stabbing weapon in a primary school in Marseille. The “very agitated” teenager rushed into the school in the southern French port city on Friday and injured the canteen employee on her chest, the police said. Then he hit two more adults. According to the injured woman, he yelled “Allahu Akbar” (God is great). So far, however, the investigators do not assume a terrorist motive. The 17-year-old’s statements had been “confused” and he had entered the primary school with his naked upper body, explained the public prosecutor of Marseille, Xavier Tarabeux, after a visit to the scene of the crime. The attack took place around 6.30 am. It is therefore unclear whether the weapon was a knife or scissors. The mayor of Marseille, Jean-Claude Gaudin, spoke of an “extremely serious incident”. According to the prosecutor, the police are investigating the case. Anti-terror investigators were initially not involved. The primary school La Pauline east of the center remained closed because of the attack. Worried employees and parents gathered in front of the school. There were “more and more attacks”, said one employee of the city administration. “But we can’t have a police officer in front of every school gate.” On Monday, however, a police patrol will guard the safety of the pupils.

“Reforms to the European Union’s Dublin agreement could see countries that do not accept migrants banned from the Schengen passport-free zone, according to claims from a Greek newspaper.
Changes to the Dublin agreement, which governs refugee and migration policy within the European Union, have been discussed earlier this year and according to Greek newspaper Ta Nea and reported by Courier International, part of the Le Monde group, at least six priorities have been discussed.
The six points are said to have been discussed by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis during the Greek leader’s visits to Paris and Berlin in August.
Among the priorities are increased cooperation between the EU’s border agency Frontex and Greek authorities to combat the arrival of illegal migrants along with tracking smugglers and simplifying deportations of illegals.
According to the Greek paper, the issue of migrant redistribution is also part of the new agreement which could see nations that do not accept new migrants, or family reunification, being excluded from the Schengen passport-free area.
Schengen is the passport-free travel area where some 400 million EU citizens can move around the zone freely, and where Non-EU visitors can also arrive in one Schengen country and travel to another without passport checks. Countries are allowed to temporarily suspend Schengen for reasons including security and recently, mass migration, such as when Denmark and Germany enacted emergency border controls in 2018 in response to continued illegal immigration.
Not all EU members are in Schengen — e.g., the UK and the Republic of Ireland are not — and Schengen is not the same as Free Movement — which is mandatory as part of European Union membership — where EU citizens have the right to travel to, and live and work in, any of the 28 member states. Even if Schengen were restricted, free movement of EU citizens would continue.
The Greek government recently announced measures to clamp down on illegal migration and have seen a recent increase in arrivals of migrants.
In one day alone, the island of Lesbos saw 500 new arrivals, the highest in a single day since the height of the migrant crisis in 2015.
The Greeks are also concerned over the conditions on the islands in the Aegean, many of which are incredibly overcrowded and suffer from crime and violence.
The migrant camp of Maria on Lesbos was designed to accommodate around 3,000 people but currently holds over 10,000.
Italy has previously expressed similar concerns over the distribution of migrants with outgoing interior minister Matteo Salvini stating that Italy was unwilling to keep taking in migrants and demanded temporary reception centres be set up in countries that border migrants’ home nations.”

The defence of any country and the means to conduct that defence are essential attributes of sovereignty. Sovereignty cannot be delegated, relegated or divided – if it is, it is lost. This is the first and most essential factor in understanding why handing control of our national defence to the EU is a catastrophic risk. If we hand over our defence, we risk losing our sovereignty and ceasing to be a country at all. The hand-over of our defence as part of the May government’s negotiations with the EU has not been properly understood nor properly scrutinised and it is time it is. This may be because other topics, such as trade, have assumed greater significance. That part of the negotiations focused on defence effectively create EU control over our defence and our defence forces in the widest sense for as Gwythian Prins will make clear, it includes intelligence and security. Let us be clear. Our elected politicians, unlike the EU Commission, ARE accountable to the people of this country. It is wrong therefore for them to allow what amount to fundamental changes in the sovereignty of our country – in or out of the EU – without such changes being subject to the Scrutiny Reserve Resolution of March 2010. This clearly states that ‘the Government has given an undertaking that ministers will not agree to draft EU policies or laws that have been deposited in Parliament until the committees of both Houses have completed their scrutiny work.’ That undertaking has clearly been breached and Parliament has been given no measures of redress for the breach. Its effects are therefore with us. This smells of stitch-up: a stitch up of the highest order – stealthy, dangerous and downright wrong. What can be done by you here today?
First, Awareness. Ensure that MPs are aware that they have missed the scale of the breach of their duties and their powers.
Secondly, Alternatives. My friend and colleague Gwythian Prins, along with Sir Richard Dearlove and Field Marshal Lord Guthrie wrote an alternative: a draft treaty between the UK and the EU for defence, security and intelligence cooperation consequent on our departure from the EU. They published it on 29 March this year and it is founded on cooperation, not integration.
Thirdly, Action. Please tell everyone you can about what is being done to us and our security. This event is our part in that. But please lobby MPs, or if you are an MP, demand proper scrutiny. Former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott has heaped praise on the anti-immigration policy of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban while warning a demographic conference in Europe about “military age” male immigrants “swarming” the continent, reported The Guardian.
The former Australian Prime Minister’s lecture at the Budapest forum: “Immigration: What Europe can learn from Australia,” was part of a wider debate moderated by Mark Higgie, who was Australia’s ambassador to the European Union and Abbott’s international advisor.
As he applauded the central European country’s immigration and population policies, Abbot – a guest of honour at the Hungarian government-backed summit on demography – focused on what European countries could learn from Australian immigration policy.
Abbot claimed the left was seeking to undermine western society with migration and the “climate cult.”
“The vast majority of migrants did not come to Australia to change us but to join us. There were the British or the Irish coming in our first 100 years. They changed us but for the better, in – for instance – the artistic sense. The problem with the people who have been swarming across the borders in Europe in very recent times is that you don’t get any impression that they come to join. You get the impression they come to change,” said Abbot.
“I mean … you get a million angry military-age males swarming into a single country in a year. They are not there to be grateful, they are there with a grievance,” added Abbot.
The Australian Prime Minister also targeted some barbed criticism at the UK’s Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, for remarks that they would not have more than two children due to the effects on the environment.
“Having fewer children in western countries will hardly make the climate better when so many children are being born elsewhere,” said the former Australian leader.
Abbot vehemently praised the nativist policies of Hungary’s Prime Minister Victor Orban, who promotes boosting the Hungarian population while fiercely resisting immigration.
“I think he is perfectly entitled to take that focus. As a general rule I am all in favour of families with children, said the Australian politician.
The former MP emphasised his host’s “political courage to defy political correctness,” adding that declining populations were the true “extinction rebellion.”
When asked whether he had advised the Hungarian government, Abbott said: “It’s not up to me to advise the government … But yes, the Hungarian and Australian migration policies are very aligned.”
He also supported Orban’s attempt to encourage couples to have more babies with financial incentives.
Victor Orban had opened the conference on Thursday deploring the population decline in Europe while touting Hungary’s family policy.
It was conceivable, said Orban, that Hungary, with a population of just under 10 million and shrinking because of plummeting birthrates and emigration to EU states further west, could just disappear.
“If Europe is not going to be populated by Europeans in the future and we take this as given, then we are speaking about an exchange of populations, to replace the population of Europeans with others. There are political forces in Europe who want a replacement of population for ideological or other reasons,” said the Hungarian leader.”

“These attacks against Salvini are serious and unacceptable,” said Michele Anzaldi, a PD member of the National Assembly.
Matteo Renzi, former head of the left-wing Italian government, said: “A limit of decency and human respect should have been respected by this RAI journalist.”
The journalist attempted to fend off the attacks on Saturday morning, telling local media: “I would write this message again but without mentioning the girl and by better specifying the reference to suicide by the leader of the League.”
This reference “is not an invitation to shoot oneself but a statement that he has eliminated himself politically,” Sanfilippo added, claiming the League’s “media machine seized upon my words to use them for its own purposes.”
Italy’s new government was sworn in on 5 September after the PD joined the anti-establishment Five Star Movement in an unlikely alliance.

Hong Kong police fire tear gas after fending off airport protest
HONG KONG (Reuters) – Hong Kong police prevented anti-government protesters from blocking access to the airport on Saturday, but fired tear gas for a second night running in the Chinese-ruled city’s densely populated district of Mong Kok in the 14th week of unrest.
Police checked for tickets and passports to allow only airline passengers through to the airport to avoid the chaos of last weekend, when activists blocked approach roads, threw debris on to train tracks and trashed the MTR subway station in the nearby new town of Tung Chung.

Protesters also occupied the arrivals hall last month, halting and delaying flights, amid a series of clashes with police.
More than three months of protests have at times paralyzed parts of Hong Kong amid running street battles between protesters and police who have responded with tear gas, pepper spray and water cannon. Violent arrests of protesters have drawn international attention.

He said that Turkey is “continuing its work,” and he criticized the world for opposing Turkey’s acquisition of the S-400 air defense system. In addition, Erdogan reassured the audience that Turkey’s S-400 system will be finished by April of 2020.

John Kerry’s son cut business ties with Hunter Biden over Ukrainian oil deal
John Kerry’s stepson rushed to play damage control at the State Department after his business partner Hunter Biden cut a deal with an oligarch-owned Ukrainian gas company in 2014, according to internal State Department correspondence obtained by the Washington Examiner.
The correspondence adds to the questions about Biden’s business activities, which have dogged the 2020 Democratic primary campaign of his father Joe. Hunter Biden’s long history of drug and alcohol abuse, which contributed to his divorce and his dismissal from the Navy Reserve, has also attracted unwelcome publicity for the Democratic front-runner.
An email released to the Washington Examiner shows that Biden’s decision to join the board of Ukraine’s Burisma Holdings sparked immediate concern within his inner circle about the political optics. Biden’s father Joe — now vying for the 2020 Democratic Party nomination — was then vice president and overseeing the Obama administration’s Ukraine policy.
At the time, Hunter Biden, now 49, and Christopher Heinz, the stepson of then-Secretary of State John Kerry, co-owned Rosemont Seneca Partners, a $2.4 billion private equity firm. Heinz’s college roommate, Devon Archer, was managing partner in the firm. In the spring of 2014, Biden and Archer joined the board of Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian gas company that was at the center of a U.K. money laundering probe. Over the next year, Burisma reportedly paid Biden and Archer’s companies over $3 million.

ABSTRACT
The emergence of a spiritual and progressive Islam, promoted by the authors
of this text, is desired by many French Muslims. They demand innovation
and freedom in their faith, paving the way for a spiritual journey informed by
modernity.
This vision exists as part of a project creating a place of worship,
the Simorgh mosque, which would endorse certain founding principles. At
this mosque, women are imams and lead all services, including those for men.
The ritual prayer is not segregated. Any Muslim, male or female, may lead the
prayer if he or she so desires. As such, there is no lead imam. Each woman,
including the imam, may choose whether or not to wear a veil. All the sermons
are in French, encouraging true ownership of Islam by French Muslims,
allowing them a deep understanding of the discourse and giving them the
opportunity to engage critically with the religious messages. Furthermore,
Muslims of all denominations are welcome.
This project is led by the Voice of Enlightened Islam (V.I.E.) movement, founded in September 2018 by the two authors of this memo and supporting the idea of an Islam which bridges the gap between loyalty to its legacies and openness to the future.
Eva Janadin and Anne-Sophie Monsinay are the cofounders of Voices of
Enlightened Islam (V.I.E.) and leaders of the Simorgh Mosque project. In 2017,
Eva Janadin cofounded the Association for the Rebirth of Mutazilite Islam
(ARIM), which aims to re-discover this rationalist theological movement.
Anne-Sophie Monsinay, who follows a teacher from a non-dualistic mystic
tradition (proclaiming no separation between God and human beings), speaks
at conferences on these topics.
Both are administrators of the Facebook group “Progressive Sufism,” which aims to engage Islam with the present and provide spaces of open dialogue for Muslims who may need them, away from any community or family pressure.

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Ten states and nearly two dozen members of Congress are joining the National Rifle Association in supporting gun-maker Remington Arms as it fights a Connecticut court ruling involving liability for the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
Officials in the 10 conservative states, 22 House Republicans and the NRA are among groups that filed briefs with the U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday and Wednesday. They urged justices to overturn the Connecticut decision, citing a much-debated 2005 federal law that shields gun makers from liability, in most cases, when their products are used in crimes.
Remington, based in Madison, North Carolina, made the Bushmaster AR-15-style rifle used to kill 20 first graders and six educators at the Newtown, Connecticut, school on Dec. 14, 2012.
A survivor and relatives of nine victims of the massacre filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Remington in 2015, saying the company should have never sold such a dangerous weapon to the public and alleging it targeted younger, at-risk males in marketing and product placement in violent video games.
Citing one of the few exemptions in the 2005 federal law, the Connecticut Supreme Court ruled 4-3 in March that Remington could be sued under state law over how it marketed the rifle. The decision overturned a ruling by a state trial court judge who dismissed the lawsuit based on the federal law, named the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act.
The federal law has been criticized by gun control advocates as being too favorable to gun makers, and it has been used to bar lawsuits over other mass killings.

Boston DA taking Straight Pride protest cases to state supreme court seeking to thwart judge’s ruling
District Attorney Rachael Rollins is taking anti-Straight Pride Parade protester cases to the Supreme Judicial Court, seeking dismissals that a Boston Municipal Court judge refused to order.
Judge Richard Sinnott on Tuesday denied requests from Rollins’ prosecutors to dismiss charges. Wednesday he held a defense attorney in contempt of court for arguing case law in support of Rollins’ position. She was handcuffed and sat in a cell for hours before being let go.
Rollins, in response, filed a 16-page emergency petition to the SJC to step in and resolve the impasse.
“The actions of Judge Richard Sinnott are unprecedented and outrageous,” Rollins said in a statement announcing the SJC filing. “His insistence on arraigning individuals when my office has used its discretion to decline a case is an unconstitutional abuse of his power and serves neither the interests of justice nor public safety.”
She added that Sinnott “overstepped his authority here, and only an action of our state’s highest court can correct this injustice. My petition is a call for order to be returned to our courts, to ensure the fair administration of justice, and to restore the public’s trust in the integrity of our legal system. The people of Suffolk County elected me to do exactly what I am doing.”
Sinnott declined to comment Wednesday, citing that the cases are pending.
The DA’s petition accuses Sinnott of ignoring “the clear and unambiguous constraints placed on the judiciary by the separation of powers.”

How Hezbollah turned to trafficking cocaine and laundering money through used cars to finance its expansion.
In its determination to secure a nuclear deal with Iran, the Obama administration derailed an ambitious law enforcement campaign targeting drug trafficking by the Iranian-backed terrorist group Hezbollah, even as it was funneling cocaine into the United States, according to a POLITICO investigation.
The campaign, dubbed Project Cassandra, was launched in 2008 after the Drug Enforcement Administration amassed evidence that Hezbollah had transformed itself from a Middle East-focused military and political organization into an international crime syndicate that some investigators believed was collecting $1 billion a year from drug and weapons trafficking, money laundering and other criminal activities.
Over the next eight years, agents working out of a top-secret DEA facility in Chantilly, Virginia, used wiretaps, undercover operations and informants to map Hezbollah’s illicit networks, with the help of 30 U.S. and foreign security agencies.
They followed cocaine shipments, some from Latin America to West Africa and on to Europe and the Middle East, and others through Venezuela and Mexico to the United States. They tracked the river of dirty cash as it was laundered by, among other tactics, buying American used cars and shipping them to Africa. And with the help of some key cooperating witnesses, the agents traced the conspiracy, they believed, to the innermost circle of Hezbollah and its state sponsors in Iran.

That is interesting, from what I have been reading and watching China has tried to set up other cities where the foreign financial organizations and systems can have the same level of protection they do in Hong Kong. So far they have failed and the Hong Kong protests and the Chinese threats have driven a lot of the Financial Houses that made Hong Kong their home have moved all of their liquid capital out to other nations. It is highly unlikely that all of them will return to Hong Kong which will lessen Hong Knog’s value to China but will also reduce the foreign investment in China. Assuming China skates across the thin ice to economic safety this lack of investment combined with the way China won’t let the foreign investors take their earnings to other countries will hurt China. A couple of the Real Vision Finance (I think that is the name) videos I posted talked about how China is losing capital and how they really don’t have enough savings to last much longer.
