Feedback
The reactions, shown by the environment regarding a specific behaviour are the foundation of learning process. Reaction to a specific behaviour is called Feedback for behaviour. The effects of Feedback are easy to observe. Imagine the following situation: little Emma smashes her milk bottle onto the kitchen table. Her older brothers react with laughter. Immediately Emma repeats her action and earns again encouraging laughter by her older brothers. You can imagine that her mother will have a difficult time stopping her new behaviour.
Even on the physical level we permanently depend on a Feedback from different areas of our body. For example there is a constant information flow from the muscles to the brain concerning the tonus of the muscles. This keeps our body strait and in balance and it enables us to move.
The known learning concept of Feedback is used in Neuro- or Biofeedback in a therapeutic setting. The social or physical Feedback is in this case replaced through an acoustic or optic Feedback.
Brain function and EEG
The main task of our brain is communication and information processing. This process is fast and transient. Commonly the EEG is used for process observation but it gathers no information about the activity of one nervecelll but only about the activity of neuron groups. The electrodes on the scalp are relatively far away from the action, but also close enough to observe the activity of neuron groups, including approximately 10000 neurons.
Siegfried Othmer compares the situation with the observation of a soccer game from outside of a stadium. You would not be able to see what is going on on the pitch but you would be able to hear the roar of the fans in the moment the ball hits the goal.
The EEG gives us no hint about the information the brain is occupied with in the moment, but it allows us insights in the control- and processing-procedure.
For the functionality of the brain there are 3 components of importance:
Overlapping neural networks
A neural network overlaps in terms of his location in relation to other neural networks. This means, that one neuron can be part of multiple neural networks. Therefore it is necessary, that the information which is transferred within the different neural networks differ in distinctive features, otherwise they couldn`t be differentiated from each other.
Just imagine multiple percussion groups all marching over a square, each group beating its own tact without being affected by the other groups.
Neural groups
A neural group is defined as a group of neurons, which are interconnected with each other for the fulfilment of a certain task. Neural activity is transient. The brain builds up a neural group for the period of time in which the activity is needed. Therefore neural groups are as fasten resolved as they are build up initially.
Communication in between brain regions
In between the various brain regions communication is taking place. It is assumed that it is also frequency dependent coordinated. In comparison to the local communication process it is more bound to be accident sensitive.
All three components of the brain function can be impaired for example in the context of an autism spectrum disorder.
Dysregulation of the brain function in the case of autism
We can find astonishing isolated abilities in many children on the autistic spectrum. But most of them lack the capacity to integrate those scattered skills and to insert the reality into a coherent inner picture. We can only speculate about the perception of autistic children, but many of their behaviours implicate that they seem to have a splintered awareness of their environment (for example some of the children are only able to recognise a person through specific features and not through the general impression).
All this difficulties might be explained through the disturbed functioning of the human brain, how it was explained earlier on in the article. It would make sense to call it an integration deficit or, if you speak in terms of neural activity, a linkage- or rather a conjunctiondeficite. What does this mean? On one hand deficits in the myelinisation of white neuralfibers have a negative impact on the transfer-speed of information. The global communication of our brain regions has to precede with a reliability of 10 to 20 milliseconds, to warrant that the neural network is able to function as a global integrated network. The effects of a communication slowdown may be pictured to oneself through the rail traffic. Using the rail traffic involves the risk to miss a connection train due to a belated train. The European rail-guided transportation system depends on the punctuality of its trains or at least that lateness’s are on a maximum around 2- 3 minutes, otherwise a chain of conjunction deficits is started up, which leads to effects we all probably already experienced at least once.
Another aspect of autistic behaviour indicates a conjunction deficit. It is the unreadiness of the empathy and the emotional reactivity of many children on the autistic spectrum. The personal perception of reality is linked to the emotions of oneself. Aspects or learning contents which are closely connected with a distinctive emotion, are by far easier to memorise. The combination of experience and emotion can only be realised through a highly integrative neural network, of which its deregulation may lead to an autistic behaviour.
Feedback for the neural control loop = Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback training enables the brain to achieve a proper state of mind and to uphold this state for a longer period of time. Usually humans are neither able to sense their neural activity nor are they able to influence it. Therefore we need an adequate external feedback. In the context of a neurofeedback treatment this external feedback is given through optic and or acoustic signals, for example in the form of a computer game or an animation. A computer programme analyses the brainwaves which were recorded by a highly sensitive amplifier and permits for example a car in the computer game to drive faster in case the measured brainwaves meet the determined parameters. Through the offered feedback the self regulation ability of the brain improves. The purposeful placement of the electrodes allows a direct training of specific brain areas. Additionally it is possible to harmonize the cooperation in between different areas. After all neurofeedback changes the pattern of behaviour but instead of working with the behaviour of a client, it aims directly for the brain. During the NFB training, the brain glances into a mirror, which reflects its state of mind and therefore gives it the possibility to correct it according to its needs.
Treating autism with neurofeedback
As explained earlier on, autism is basically a neural regulation disorder. Through neurofeedback we now got to know a procedure, which enables us to directly have an effect on the neural regulation. According to Siegfried Othmer it is possible to improve all the deficits, which are generally, named in conjunction with autism by means of neurofeedback. As mentioned before, it is possible to approach appointed brain areas directly, through a selective and precise placement of the electrodes. Therefor an improvement in the fields of emotional attachment, communication, articulation, sensory perception and motoric can be achieved. Neurofeedback has a direct effect on the key deficit of autism, which is a global communication disorder of the neural network.”

One of the boys was caught by a German family and confronted. According to the police, the child was pulled by the ear and hair. The Iraqi child then ran to his parents to tell them about it. The boy’s entire family went angrily to the apartment of the Germans. One of them armed himself with a telescopic baton. During the ensuing conflict, the German succeeded in taking the baton from the Iraqi and striking with it.The German is now under investigation for dangerous bodily harm, the 18-year-old Iraqi baton owner is under investigation for violation of the weapons law and attempted assault.Characteristic of multiculturalism is also the statement of a migrant: “I fuck your country”.

“Samir el Rifai, who was sentenced for inciting hatred against ethnic groups, tried to defend himself by claiming that his hateful comments were aimed at the State of Israel, which the court dismissed.
Helsingborg’s district court has given Imam Samir el Rifai SEK 3,000 ($305) in fines for hate speech during a July 2017 demonstration on Gustav Adolf Square in Helsingborg.
The speech was organised by the Swedish-Palestinian Centre in Helsingborg and held in Arabic. It was subsequently reported to the police by, among others, the Jewish Assembly in Helsingborg.
“It is especially worrying when a religious leader expresses himself like this”, Josefin Thorell, the chair of the Jewish congregation in northwestern Skåne, told the daily newspaper Expressen.
In his speech, el Rifai expressed extreme disdain for Jews by calling them “the progeny of monkeys and pigs”, which he acknowledged. However, he specified that the statement was made with the State of Israel in mind, something the court didn’t accept as a valid argument.
“We believe it is clear from the speech in its entirety that the statement was aimed at Jews in relation to their religion, not the regime or military power”, lawyer Ylva Norling Jönsson told Expressen.

The demonstration, was held in protest against Israel’s move to cordon off the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem, following a shooting incident, in which two Israeli police officers were killed.
According to the news outlet Nyheter Idag, the demonstration in Helsingborg called for various acts of violence and paid tribute to “martyrdom”, with chants like “Shoot your shots, let bullets punch holes” and “Remember the heroes, Kalashnikov”. At the same time, several speakers condemned contemporary Arab leaders for their perceived timidity and indecision, likening them to “women and gays”.
Earlier this year, Sweden launched a “historic offensive” against Islamic radicalism, placing a total of five imams and preachers in custody and slating them for deportation. Some of them reportedly advocated “anti-democratic” and “militant” brands of Islam and supported terrorist organisations.
While 39-year-old el Rifai has been identified by several Swedish media as a Lebanese citizen, he will not be deported.”

Maj. Gen. Craig Furini, head of Operation Sovereign Borders, said during a visit to the island nation that since May, 38 people have been returned to Sri Lanka by Australian authorities. He said Sri Lanka’s navy has intercepted 41 other people in the Indian Ocean who were traveling to Australia illegally by fishing boat, and that many planned boat journeys were thwarted by law enforcement authorities in Sri Lanka.
Furini visited the Negombo fishing harbor north of Sri Lanka’s capital, Colombo, where some of the boats have departed from in the past.
“Look, there has been a slight increase recently, they could be down to a number of factors that include Australia’s domestic political situation; in early May we had an election. Obviously the tragic bombings here may have played a factor,” Furini said. Coordinated bombings on churches and hotels on Easter Sunday in Sri Lanka killed more than 260 people.
“But there are also a whole bunch of unknowns as to why people would be seeking to come to Australia illegally by boat,” Furini said. “Before Operation Sovereign Borders in the period from 2008 to 2013, 50,000 people came illegally by boat on 820 separate boat journeys and tragically around 1,200 of them died at sea. We will never allow that to happen again.”
Since 2013, Australia has returned 865 people from 37 boats to their countries of departure or their countries of origin, he said. This includes 204 Sri Lankans from 12 boats and people from countries like Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran and some African countries, he added.

The Assembly of African Migrants — a confederation of about 3,000 people from various African countries currently in Tapachula, Mexico — launched in the past week, according to La Jornada, citing assembly leaders. The group issued its first press release Thursday, describing its origins, how members have suffered since entering Mexico, and their demands.

The country’s Foreign Office on Tuesday inaugurated its Kashmir cell, with the objective of adopting a more focused approach in its efforts to highlight existing restrictions in Indian-administered Kashmir.
Islamabad also announced that all its diplomatic missions will be equipped with Kashmir-centred cells to reiterate its stance on an issue that has dominated the political and diplomatic discourse bilaterally between India and Pakistan, as well as has been prominent internationally, for decades.
Tuesday’s move comes in the wake of Pakistan opposing India’s decision last month to abrogate the special status granted to its side of Jammu and Kashmir through the revocation of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution.
The Foreign Office event in Islamabad was attended by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, senior diplomats, officials from the country’s security institutions, and representatives from opposition parties.

The first meeting of the new cell was also held today to discuss ways by which Pakistan could highlight the Kashmir issue on international platforms.
Pakistan decided to intensify its lobbying efforts last month to effectively highlight the prevailing situation in India-administered Kashmir.
Islamabad has claimed that India’s decision to revoke Article 370 and alter the territorial status of Jammu and Kashmir is a direct violation of the Simla Agreement of 1972. New Delhi, on the other hand, says the decision to revoke the region’s special status is an internal matter.

Whereas the federal and provincial government would bear 30 per cent of the project’s costs, the remaining 70 per cent would be borne by the project beneficiaries.

A trilateral meeting between Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan will take place this Saturday in Islamabad, diplomatic sources in Pakistan said.

The US special envoy to Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad, told an Afghan news channel in Kabul that the US would withdraw some 5,000 troops from Afghanistan within 135 days of signing the peace deal with the Taliban.
“We are at the threshold of an agreement that will reduce violence and open the door for Afghans to sit together to negotiate an honourable and sustainable peace and a unified, sovereign Afghanistan that does not threaten the United States, its allies, or any other country”, Zalmay Khalilzad tweeted on 1 September after the conclusion of another round of talks in Doha.
China and Pakistan have been exploring ways to expand the $50 billion CPEC to Afghanistan since last November.
The two countries aim to connect Gwadar Port with railway networks to Afghanistan. Works are underway to join China’s Xinjiang province with Pakistan’s province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Media reports suggest that Beijing has proposed to lay a railway line from Peshawar to Kabul or even up to Mazar-i-Sharif in Afghanistan by 2030. This network will directly connect Gwadar in Pakistan to the Central Asian states.”

During an exchange with a patient, the patient aggressively asked him to leave, told him to return home and treated him with contempt for his ethnicity.
The hospital coordinator had to intervene, but the patient refused to apologize and asked to be served by other employees who were not of Arab origin, which was refused.
When the patient was contacted by an investigator from the Human Rights and Youth Rights Commission to obtain his version of the facts, he reiterated his remarks and threatened to physically attack the complainant.
During the hearing, the patient tried to justify himself because he was under the effect of morphine, but the judge concluded that anger or intoxication can not serve as a valid excuse for holding discriminatory remarks.
The complainant testified that he found it difficult to work in the weeks following the events. He was affected to the point of having sleep problems and not to go out of the hospital alone.
The judgment emphasizes that a society can not welcome people from other countries and practicing a religion different from that of the majority, and at the same time allow them to be reproached for their origins or their religious confession. refuses a job or access to certain jobs. We can not allow people to refuse to be served by these people from elsewhere.
The Tribunal awards the complainant $ 7,500 in moral damages and $ 2,000 in punitive damages because of the patient’s cavalier attitude and the fact that he still considered his remarks justified.

Quebec’s Human Rights Tribunal has ruled that a Montreal-area hospital worker of Arabic origin who was verbally abused by a patient because of his ethnicity receive a total of $9,500 in damages.
According to the judgment in the case, the plaintiff worked as an auxiliary nurse in a Montreal-area hospital. During a conversation with a patient, the latter told him to go away, to go back to where he came from and then insulted him because of his ethnic origin.
A hospital administrator intervened in the incident but the patient refused to apologize and insisted on being served by other employees who were not Arab, a demand which the hospital refused.
When the patient was contacted by a tribunal investigator for his version of the facts, he repeated his insults toward the employee and threatened to physically assault him.
During a hearing before the tribunal, the patient tried to justify his conduct by saying he was under the effects of morphine. However the judge in the case ruled that anger or intoxication cannot be used as an excuse for uttering discriminatory statements.
The plaintiff told the tribunal he had difficulty working in the weeks that followed the incident, had difficulty sleeping and was unable to leave the hospital alone.
The judgment stressed that a society cannot on the one hand welcome people from other countries and who practice different religions while on the other tolerating that they be criticized for those origins or beliefs. Nor can it be permitted for anyone to refuse to be served by those who come from somewhere else.
The plaintiff was awarded $7,500 in moral damages and $2,000 in punitive damages based on the patient’s attitude the fact he felt his comments to be justified.

“Boko Haram terrorists entered the northeastern Nigerian village of Chibok, Borno, this weekend, burning down homes and looting food to sustain themselves according to locals.
Chibok became world-famous after the jihadist group raided the village in 2014 and abducted 276 schoolgirls from the local secondary school during an annual exam. Over 100 girls remain missing more than five years after the attack, and a significant percentage of those who survived were not rescued but escaped on their own.
The Nigerian government has repeatedly claimed it has defeated Boko Haram and that the group no longer exists. When confronted by repeated Boko Haram attacks and the fact that hundreds of people abducted by the terrorists are still missing, Abuja contends that the terrorists currently active are members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), an offshoot of the original Boko Haram.
Boko Haram pledged allegiance to the Islamic State in 2015.
The jihadist terrorists “sacked community members, destroyed and set houses on fire” in Chibok this weekend, according to Nigeria’s Vanguard newspaper. This Day, another newspaper, cited eyewitnesses who said the assault began late Saturday. Due to the remote location of many Boko Haram attacks, it often takes days for news of an attack to get to the general public.
“They came in this evening and started shooting sporadically. Most of the villagers have run into the bush,” an unnamed “source” told This Day. “We don’t know if there are casualty [sic] yet because right now the insurgents are still in charge of the village.”
“Reports coming from Yimirmugza, Kautikari in Chibok LGA indicates that houses were burnt, stores broken provisions looted, cars burnt and people injured,” Mallam Abga Pogu, an elder statesman in the village, told Vanguard. The newspaper noted that the terrorists did not appear to have injured anyone in the village as “most panicking residents have fled into the bush for safety.”
Borno is located in Nigeria’s northeast, near the dense and vast Sambisa Forest and consisting largely of undeveloped “bush” territory. Boko Haram was born in Borno’s capital, Maiduguri, and has historically taken advantage of the Sambisa Forest and difficult terrain to hide from police and the Nigerian military.
Chibok observed the fifth anniversary of the abduction of nearly 300 schoolgirls from the town in April. Current President Muhammadu Buhari, a Muslim ethnic Fulani from the country’s north, won the presidency in 2015, and re-election this year, largely by campaigning that his military dictator background could help eradicate the Boko Haram threat. In 2016, Buhari approved the trade of four senior Boko Haram jihadis for 21 Chibok girls, who the group released immediately. Some of the released terrorists have since returned to violence.
The trade did not stop Boko Haram terrorists from repeatedly attacking Chibok after the abductions.
Buhari began claiming that Nigeria “won the war” against Boko Haram in 2015, before he approved liberating multiple senior terrorists. A month before the 2016 Chibok raid, Nigerian military spokesman Col. Sani Usman told reporters, “We have come to the point that we can beat our chest and decisively say we have dealt with Boko Haram.”
Nigerian officials made similar statements every year of Buhari’s presidency and continue to do so today. In light of the extended Boko Haram onslaught in the northeast, however, officials have now begun claiming that Boko Haram no longer exists.
Nigerian Army chief of staff Tukur Buratai told reporters in June “that what is currently playing out in the North-east is the metamorphosis of ISWAP [Islamic State West Africa Province],” not the indigenous Boko Haram. ISWAP, Buratai asserted, was made up of foreign jihadists looking for a home for their activities.
“The position of the Nigerian government is that the Boko Haram terrorism has been degraded and defeated. The real Boko Haram we know is defeated,” Buhari spokesman Garba Shehu said in August. “What we have now is a mixture of remnants of the Boko Haram, fugitive criminals…[and jihadis in Northern Africa’s Maghreb reigon] together with West African terrorists bonding together.”
Shortly after this declaration, Boko Haram seized two more Borno towns and setting them on fire, gathering food and supplies to continue attacking the government.
Critics of the Buhari government have accused Abuja of worsening the jihadist onslaught by doing little to fight corruption in the military and contain the influence of jihadist groups.
“The security situation has even worsened if we look at the general overview. APC [Buhari’s party] came into power in 2015 with the promise that Boko Haram would be a forgone story. Today, it’s a different ball game,” Bitrus Pogu, the National Chairman of the Middle Belt Forum, said this week. Nigeria’s Middle Belt connects the Muslim north to the Christian south and as such is home to another jihadist conflict, the Fulani herdsmen campaign to eradicate Christian farmers.
“On and on we find Boko Haram running over our military formations, taking our military equipment away,” Pogu said. “I believe if the government has the will, these girls (Chibok) will be released. … We believe the government can do better, let’s forget about the politics and do what is needful.”
Boko Haram is believed to have killed at least 35,000 people in the past decade and used 3,500 children as child soldiers and suicide bombers.”
Hezbollah missile strikes IDF vehicle near Israeli base on Israel-Lebanon border
Al-Manar, a Hezbollah-affiliated TV channel, has released footage of a missile strike on an Israeli military vehicle near IDF’s Avivim military base on the Israel-Lebanon border.
The video shows two Kornet anti-tank missiles fired from different positions and narrowly miss the vehicle which then led to massive artillery fire in retaliation. IDF reported no casualties in the incident.
Tension has run high on the border since a drone attack on a Hezbollah stronghold in Beirut last week which could be conducted by IDF.

French Identitarians to be Fined and Jailed for Opposing Illegal Immigration

The pro-European and anti-immigration movement Generation Identity (GI) has achieved a worldwide notoriety through its often spectacular actions, whether by occupying EU and government buildings or manning their own ship to halt migrant smugglers in the Mediterranean. Such actions are not without risk however.
In spring 2018, French GI activists – frustrated by the French government’s inability or unwillingness to get the migrant crisis under control and prevent illegal immigration into their country – decided to take matters into their own hands with symbolic but effective nonviolent action.
GI blocked the Col de l’Échelle, an Alpine mountain pass near the border with Italy, through which migrant crossings were known to occur. The activists deployed banners, fences, and even helicopters to prevent the migrants from entering France.
One activist explained that the goal was “to show the public authorities that, with a bit of will and fairly modest means, it is possible to regain control of our borders and prevent the illegals from entering our country.” The action succeeded in receiving substantial media coverage and putting pressure on the French government to fulfill its responsibilities.
GI argues that Europe needs to embrace the “No Way” Australian model against illegal immigration: that anyone who tries to illegally go to Australia by sea will simply be sent back. As General Angus Campbell, Commander of Operation Sovereign Borders, explained: “There are no exceptions . . . If you come to Australia illegally by boat, there is no way you will make Australia home.”
Such a policy, GI argues, is the only way in which illegal migrant crossings, and the tragic deaths associated with them, can be eliminated. By contrast, the European Union adopted an insane policy whereby migrant boats “rescued” just off the shores of Libya and Tunisia would be ferried directly to European ports. That sure made the people smugglers’ job easier.
The nominal “French State” however is not kind to those Frenchmen who still have the strength and will to defend their homeland. Last week, three GI leaders – Damien Lefèvre, Clément Galant, and Romain Espino – were sentenced to six months in prison and 2000 euros in fines for this action. The three men will also be deprived of civic rights for five years. The GI organization itself will have to pay 75,000 euros.
According to the judges, GI usurped the public authorities’ responsibilities and “exercised an activity in conditions such as to create a confusion in public opinion concerning a governmental function.” Thus, the Frenchmen will be punished for symbolically and nonviolently doing what the French government was failing to do.
Galant was unfazed, declaring in a video in front of dozens of GI supporters: “This sentencing in no way affects our determination. We are ready to face all the risks, to take all the blows, to save our people and our civilization.” Numerous nationalist and even conservative politicians have condemned the court’s decision.
For Michel Rousseau, spokesman for the open-borders activist organization Tous Migrant (“[We Are] All Migrants”), the punishment was not sufficiently severe however. He stated to the press: “The prosecutor did not prosecute the suspects on other grounds too: What about endangering others? What about incitement of racial hated?” Lord knows how symbolically enforcing one’s immigration laws is “incitement of racial hatred.”
The decision is all the more shocking in that the French State has punished actual, practical – not symbolic – illegal immigration enablers with less severity. Cédric Herrou is an olive farmer who has reached superstardom among the globalist left for helping 150 immigrants illegally cross the Italian border.
Herrou was prosecuted and in August 2018 received a mere suspended sentence of four months in prison, meaning he will serve no jail time unless found guilty of further illegal activity. Despite helping more people illegally enter the country since then, he continues to walk free. Instead, Herrou has enjoyed soft-ball interviews on the country’s State-owned TV channels and was invited to the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.
Support for illegal immigration runs deep in certain sectors of French society and the political-cultural elite. Politicians who merely enforce the law are heavily demonized as the television stations broadcast tearful images of illegals sent home. Lawbreakers like Herrou and Carola Rackete – a German sea captain who smuggled illegals into Italy – may face minor legal repercussions, but receive ample financial support and are hailed as heroes by certain sectors of society.
The GI and Herrou cases raise questions about the impartiality the judges and their faithfulness to the law. Jean-Yves Le Gallou, an identitarian think-tanker whom I have previously interviewed for Unz, observed that the court’s presiding judge, Isabelle Defarge, has publicly expressed pro-immigration positions.
For Le Gallou, the French justice’s system extensive support for censorship, soft line against illegal immigrant activists, and hard line against the Gilets-Jaunes are deeply problematic. “More and more, the French feel that ‘justice’ is no longer rendered in their name, but for the sake of ideological and political prejudices, and foreign lobbies,” he says.
Le Gallou explains that there is a structural left-wing and globalist bias in the judiciary: “a pro-immigration judicial or administrative magistrate can participate in and campaign within a pro-immigration organization and continue to act as a judge, even covering these topics. A less politically-correct magistrate must be absolutely quiet and very prudent in his sentences.”
As a result: “Today, in France, one must use the expression ‘justice system’ only with scare quotes.” Is there a solution? Le Gallou suggests an épuration – a purge – of the judiciary may be necessary. The Republic resorted to such actions in 1883 and 1945, firing hundreds of normally independent judges, in order to consolidate ‘republican values.’
Perhaps a patriotic government will have to resort to such actions in the future. In the meantime, it will only be because of the heroic efforts of such brave Frenchmen as Damien Lefèvre, Clément Galant, and Romain Espino, that the French nation and her laws will endure.

Zarif’s Inexcusable Warm Welcome in Europe
The behavior of European leaders towards Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif during his visit illustrates how frightened they are of the Iranian regime and how these non-stop moralists will seemingly do anything for money. Iran’s strong anti-Israel rhetoric apparently does not bother them, either.
Trade with Iran is crucial to many European countries. That is one possible explanation for the seeming doublespeak in which European leaders have been engaging since the establishment of the Islamic Republic 40 years ago — boasting among themselves and with the United States about setting a shining example of human rights, yet giving their Iranian counterparts a pass on this issue.
Those of us who sought refuge away from the brutality of the Iranian regime observe with sadness and horror these desperate attempts by many European leaders to please Tehran. Europeans should be viewing the situation with equal sadness and horror.

NEW BRUNSWICK – Fourteen N.B. NDP candidates defect to Green Party
Fourteen New Brunswick NDP candidates have announced their resignation from the provincial party to join the federal Green Party.
The announcement was made in a media release which pointed to the fact that Green Party leader Elizabeth May visited the province while NDP leader Jagmeet Singh has not.
In the news release, the group said: “encourage all New Democrats, New Brunswickers and, indeed, all Canadians in voting for the Green Party of Canada this election.”
Their focus is just not in Atlantic Canada,” said Jonathan Richardson, an NDP Atlantic Canada national executive who has also resigned from the party. “That’s just the reality of the election you gotta go where you’re going to get your votes.”
“They’re more attached to the branding than the ultimate goal of helping people,” said Richardson about the federal NDP.
The Green Party has swept candidates away from the NDP before, including MP Pierre Nantel who announced that he will be running for the Greens in the 2019 election.

“A United Nations investigation into the civil war in Yemen found that multiple parties have repeatedly engaged in possible war crimes, including targeting civilians with airstrikes, artillery and snipers, arbitrary detentions and killings, torture, sexual violence, and impeding access to humanitarian aid.
“Five years into the conflict, violations against Yemeni civilians continue unabated, with total disregard for the plight of the people and a lack of international action to hold parties to the conflict accountable,” Mr. Kamel Jendoubi, chair of the Group of Independent Eminent International and Regional Experts, said in a statement released alongside the report on Tuesday, September 3.
Jendoubi called on the international community to end the “endemic impunity” enjoyed by Yemen’s government and its supporters, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, as well as the Houthi rebels against which they are fighting, and foreign governments supporting them – such as the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Iran – saying they “may be held responsible” for complicity in possible war crimes.
“Perpetrators may be held responsible for war crimes, as such acts amount to serious violations of international humanitarian law,” the report read.
“The international community must multiply its efforts to free the Yemeni people from the persistent injustice they have been enduring,” Jendoubi said.
“The international community must stop turning a blind eye to these violations and the intolerable humanitarian situation.”

Yemen:The Other Civil Wars
…Everyone can agree that the conflict in Yemen has been a war with no winners and no “good guys.” The basic problem is that too many Yemenis don’t want to be Yemenis. The country was a patchwork of independent tribes and cities.…
When the British left Yemen in 1967, their former colony in Aden became one of two countries called Yemen. The two parts of Yemen finally united in 1990, but a civil war in 1994 was needed to seal the deal. That fix didn’t really take, and within a decade the north and south were pulling apart again.
This came back to the fact that Yemen has always been a region, not a country. Like most of the rest of the Persian Gulf and Horn of Africa (Northeast Africa) region, the normal form of government, until the last century or so, were wealthier coastal city-states, nervously coexisting with interior tribes that got by on herding or farming (or a little of both).
This whole “nation” idea is still looked on with some suspicion by many in the region. This is why the most common forms of government are the more familiar ones of antiquity (kingdom, emirate or modern variation in the form of a hereditary dictatorship.)
Yemen is still all about the tribes. The national government is a bunch of guys who deal with foreigners and try to maintain peace among the tribes. Controlling the national government is a source of much wealth, as officials can steal part of the foreign aid and taxes…
This lack of nationalism means a lack of cooperation or willingness to act in the public interest. Much of the Yemeni agricultural crises is caused by the fact that Yemen’s economic situation has been rapidly deteriorating since the late 20th century.… overpopulation, water shortages and Khat …requires a lot of water to grow….
There is little willingness to cooperate. Feuding, fighting and blaming others for the mess are the preferred methods for dealing with the problems. Before oil was discovered in Arabia nearly a century ago Yemen had long been the most populous, powerful and populous part of Arabia…
Most of the oil deposits were at the north end of the Persian Gulf and Yemen lost out there. Yemenis had long despised the less affluent Arabians to the north, but since oil arrived the Yemenis have become despised and they did not take it well. Resentment, envy and a sense of entitlement have combined with the lack of unity to produce Yemen that is a nation in name only.
Few others in the region have much sympathy for the Yemenis who are seen as the main cause of their own problems and the main obstacle to solving them.…
Stubborn Saudis
The Saudis will carry on with efforts to defeat the Shia rebels despite UN pressure to make a peace deal the Shia rebels would currently accept. Such a deal would restore the Shia autonomy in the north and make it possible for Iran to continue supplying the Shia tribes with weapons that can be used to attack Saudi Arabia.
To the Saudis that is unacceptable, given the fact that the Iranians are openly calling for the overthrow of the Saudi government, and Iran taking over as the “protector of the two Most Holy Islamic cities of Mecca and Medina”.
Most Moslems do not want Iran in charge of Mecca and Medina. The Iranians are Shia Moslems and Shia comprise only about ten percent of all Moslems. The Saudis are largely Sunni, a version of Islam about 80 percent of Moslems belong to.
Moreover, the Iranians are not Arabs. Rather the Iranians are Indo-European and for many Moslems that is a big deal because Islam was founded by Arabs and the Moslem scriptures (the Koran) are written in Arabic. The Saudis will go to great lengths to prevent the Shia provinces in northwest Yemen from becoming an Iran base area.
Meanwhile, the Iranians have convinced many of the Shia Yemenis that getting their autonomy back should be non-negotiable because without that autonomy the Yemeni Shia will be vulnerable to retaliation from all the other Yemeni groups the Shia rebels have harmed during the years of civil war.…
