Overseas patients have left the NHS with more than £150million in unpaid bills for treatment, a Daily Mail investigation reveals.

 

The cash could pay for 6,000 nurses, 22,000 heart bypasses or nearly 5,500 junior doctors.

Two hospitals in London are owed £28million each, including almost £500,000 from one patient alone.

The revelation comes amid a new-found reluctance among frontline staff to chase payments, with doctors’ leaders saying their obligation to charge overseas patients is ‘racist’ and deters vulnerable groups from seeking help.

But Tory MP Philip Davies said: ‘It is the National Health Service, not an international health service and it is essential these charges are made for overseas visitors.’

 

Freedom of information requests by the Mail found King’s College Hospital in south London is owed £28.3million from foreign patients for treatment in the last  few years. In east London, Barts Health Trust is chasing £27.8million of unpaid bills, including £467,000 from one patient, whose nationality or identity was not disclosed when questions were asked.

10. New trial ordered for 2 men on Via Rail terror charges

Ontario’s highest court has granted a new trial for two men who were found guilty of terrorism charges after being accused of plotting to derail a Via Rail passenger train in the Greater Toronto Area.

 

The Court of Appeal for Ontario ordered Tuesday that the 2015 convictions of Raed Jaser and Chiheb Esseghaier be set aside.

A new trial was ordered.

 

The pair had argued in court earlier this year that the judge who oversaw the case made several errors, including in rejecting their request as to the method of jury selection.

Jaser and Esseghaier were found guilty in 2015 on a total of eight terror-related charges between them. They were originally sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole until 2023.

 

The Toronto judge who presided over their trial found both men had not renounced their extremists beliefs, nor had they accepted responsibility for their offences.

(Wouldn’t it be nice to know what “their method of jury selection” would be?)

    6- great article. What makes a person difficult to “collect”? Beats me, but my intuition tells me it has some elemental tie to how one is raised. And how one is raised has something to do with how one is fathered. Ironic, considering the mini collective that is the nuclear family is the launch pad to autonomy in an automaton world. Of course, many a soft mind comes from loving parents, which is why we must specifically point out to our children the insects that bite in the garden of ideas.

    Too many people are too polite for their own good, which pretty much summarizes Dystopia.

    • A break from “collective” is a start. A vacation from anything ending in “-ist” would be really refreshing.

      Kiev is dense with history that grips the guts. I visited an old cemetery that’s being restored. Inscriptions in 16th century Ladino, a Kilroy was here experience.

      The people think stories about our woke progs are a scam, fake news. Romanticizing Communists and Nazis? Responding to such evil politely?

      Maybe the Soviets were right for once, describing the West as decadent and doomed.

      Nah, nobody could be that stupid.

      • My sister married a fella originally from Belarus. She also thought it was very interesting, plus she learned the language which makes it so much better.

        It’s pretty hard to be decadent and doomed when you’re forced to make an honest living. The more socialist we become the more time and false prosperity we have for decadence. Belarus still keeps ’em drunk–an old tactic of Soviet control.

    -Balkans 10,000 migrants waiting to get into Europe. Jihadis returning from mideast forming groups to fight Christians in Sebia, Albania, Bosnia…
    -besides being jihadis migrants are trying to spread Islam by indoctrination.
    (No wonder the Serbs feel the need to arm to the teeth.)
