Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Imran Khan Reveals How Pakistan’s Spy Agency Helped US Kill Osama Bin Laden (sputniknews, Jul 23, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/asia/201907231076329566-imran-khan-reveals-how-pakistans-spy-agency-helped-us-kill-osama-bin-laden/

“Years after his country remained tight-lipped and in denial mode about Osama bin Laden’s whereabouts, Prime Minister Imran Khan revealed it was his country’s spy agency, the ISI, which ultimately facilitated the efforts of the CIA to reach the then acting Al-Qaeda chief’s hideout in Pakistan.

Prime Minister Khan said that the covert US Navy SEAL operation to kill Bin Laden in 2011 “hugely embarrassed Pakistan”, as Islamabad felt that “as an ally of the US, had we been given the information about Bin Laden, we would have taken him out”.

“It was the ISI that provided the information which led to locating Osama bin Laden…If you ask the CIA, it was the ISI which gave the initial location through the phone connection,” Pakistan Prime Minister Khan revealed to American Fox News channel while undertaking his three-day official US trip.

Asked if his country would accept US demands to release jailed Dr Shakil Afridi, who helped the CIA locate Osama bin Laden in 2011, Khan said: “This is a very emotive issue because Shakeel Afridi in Pakistan is considered a spy.”

When it was pointed out that Bin Laden was a terrorist who killed over 3,000 Americans, Khan said: “We were fighting this war for the US, and we lost all these people fighting this war. So there was obviously a lot of anger about the way this whole thing was done. But you know that’s all in the past”.

Bin Laden, the world’s most wanted terrorist, was killed on 2 May 2011, in Pakistan’s Abbottabad area near the country’s military headquarters, by US Navy Seals. The mission was codenamed Operation Neptune Spear.

Over the years, Pakistan had maintained there was not an iota of truth behind speculation that elements within Pakistan’s military were aware of the location of Bin Laden’s hideout.”

  2. Iran’s Seizure of Tanker Prompts Shipping Industry to Mull Ditching UK-Flagged Vessels for China (sputniknews, Jul 23, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201907231076327941-after-iran-tanker-seizure-shipping-industry-mull-ditching-uk-flagged-vessels-for-china/

“Scores of tankers transit through the Strait of Hormuz each day, and shippers are looking for ways to safeguard the oil trade in the wake of tit-for-tat tanker detentions between Iran and the UK.

China may emerge as an unexpected beneficiary of the mounting tensions in the Persian Gulf, after Iran detained a British-flagged oil tanker in a key waterway for oil transit.

British maritime intelligence firm Dryad Global believes that the shipping industry “was not really prepared” for this situation, and that shipping companies are now starting to look for alternatives to using British-flagged vessels in the region.

“Normally it’s the British-flagged, US-flagged and Saudi-interest vessels that are the most likely to be targeted,” Philip Diacon, head of Dryad Global, told AFP news agency.

Diacon said most of his clients were now looking to register their ships under the flag of China, Iran’s strategic ally. “We are starting to see talk of moving to Chinese-flagged vessels,” he noted.

Over 18 million barrels of crude oil pass through the Strait of Hormuz each day – a third of all oil shipped by sea and a fifth of the world’s supply – and won’t stop, however volatile the political situation.

“Oil will continue to flow,” Diacon highlighted. “The Iranians have no interests in disrupting other nations.”…”

  3. Iran Possesses Images of US Ships’ Daily Movements in Persian Gulf Region – Navy Chief (sputniknews, Jul 23, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201907231076328206-iran-possesses-images-of-us-ships-daily-movements-in-persian-gulf-region—navy-chief/

“Relations between Iran and the United States have been hitting new lows, with drones and tankers being at the centre of the conflict during the past two months.

Iran’s navy chief has said that Iran observes all US vessels operating in the Persian Gulf region, and has a large archive of images of their daily movements.

“We observe all enemy ships, particularly [those of] America, point-by-point from their origin until the moment they enter the region,” Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi, commander of Iran’s navy, said on Tuesday as quoted by the Young Journalists Club local news agency.

“We have complete images and a large archive of the daily and moment-by-moment traffic of the coalition forces and America,” he added, explaining that the images were captured by Iranian drones.

His comments come after the seizure of a British-flagged tanker which Iran claims had violated maritime rules…”

  4. Scandinavian States Weigh In on UK-Led European Action in Gulf After Iran’s Seizure of UK Tanker (sputniknews, Jul 23, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/military/201907231076327889-scandinavian-states-weigh-in-on-uk-led-european-action-in-gulf-after-irans-seizure-of-uk-tanker/

“Following the recent turmoil in the Persian Gulf which escalated when Iran seized a British-flagged oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt announced plans to assemble a joint European protection operation for shipping in the area, which is home to one-third of the world’s oil traffic.

The recent call by UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt to establish a European task force to secure shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s busiest waterways, has spurred reactions in Scandinavia.

The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed talks between Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod and his British counterpart, without disclosing the results.

The right-wing Danish People’s Party’s foreign spokesman Søren Espersen, however, has no doubts about what should be done about the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.

“When a country like Iran tries to act up in that strait, it is a military challenge that needs to be met, so that our ships can sail in peace”, Espersen told Danish Radio.

Espersen does not fear that this step will kindle a conflict in the Persian Gulf.

“It’s international waters. It’s not Iran’s territory. You should not accept this, you have to answer militarily.”

Espersen supported the British foreign minister’s accusations of “piracy” directed at Iran.

“Next time, it may be a Danish merchant ship. And we have a duty to be there when our merchant ships are threatened,” Espersen explained.

Niklas Granholm, a researcher at Sweden’ Total Defence Research Institute (FOI) believes that Sweden is also likely to get invited and has a lot to contribute.

“One can imagine that it is in our interest to maintain a regulated world and that means supporting international law and order,” Granhold told national broadcaster SVT. “I could imagine that we contribute with things that we did earlier in, say, the Horn of Africa. It could be a patrol vessel, an amphibious assault force, perhaps maritime surveillance aircraft. I can also think of staff officers and intelligence services.”

However, Granholm emphasised that the British plans are still rather vague and the information scarce.

Both the UK, Denmark, and other countries have previously received an invitation from the US to take part in a potential coalition to protect ship traffic in the area, but have assumed a wait-and-see stance.

On Monday, amid reports that the UK would scale up its presence in the Persian Gulf with a nuclear sub and Royal Marines following the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ seizure of Britain’s Stena Impero tanker, Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt confirmed that London was looking to put together a “European-led maritime protection mission” to ensure “safe passage” through the body of water.

Iran claimed the seizure was a perfectly “legal measure” aimed at ensuring regional security. Iranian officials alleged that the Stena Impero had turned off its positioning equipment, ignored the distress calls from an Iranian fishing boat, and collided with the boat while disregarding repeated Iranian warnings about its unsafe behaviour during its passage through the Strait of Hormuz…”

  5. Muslims’ Calls to Remove ‘Offensive’ Artwork With Prophet Muhammad’s Name Polarise Norwegian City (sputniknews, Jul 23, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201907231076328654-muslims-calls-to-remove-offensive-artwork-with-prophet-muhammads-name-polarise-norwegian-city/

“According to local Muslims, the name plate set up in Norway’s third-largest city of Stavanger to honour Bangladeshi Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus is offensive as the Prophet’s name is being stepped upon.

The Muslim Joint Council, which numbers some 8,000 members, has called for a plate set up to commemorate Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus to be removed from the ground. The rationale is that the award winner shares names with Islam’s main prophet, and trampling upon the holy man’s name is a sign of utter disrespect.

The Bronze plate to honour Muhammad Yunus, who won the 2006 Peace Prize for his pioneering work with microcredit loans, was set up seven years ago. Similar installations exist in Stavanger in honour of fellow peace prize winners Desmond Tutu, the Dalai Lama and Al Gore.

“Here it lies on the ground, people step on it, and no one sees what it is,” Summer Ejaz, spokesperson for Muslim Joint Council Rogaland, told national broadcaster NRK, calling the name Muhammad “respectable and gracious”.

By his own admission, criticism from fellow Muslims has been pouring in for several years, together with calls to elevate the bronze plate from the ground to eye level.

“Stavanger is a diverse city with inhabitants from 200 different countries. It is therefore important that the municipality safeguards the minority population’s feelings in this matter. It has to do with well-being and people’s mental health,” Ejaz explained.

The call has since polarised the city. Vice Mayor Bjørg Tysdal Moe of the Christian Democrats party said she understands the Muslims’ frustration and is open to accommodating their demands.

“When the Muslims respond, I take it seriously. And since this work of art has been there since 2012, it is important for us to get a dialogue about this,” Moe told NRK.

By contrast, the right-wing Progress Party was “extremely sceptical” about the request, suggesting that the plate should stay put.

“We cannot take into account each and every offence every time someone gets triggered,” Kristoffer Sivertsen, Progress Party leader in Stavanger told the newspaper Dagsavisen, calling it “offence hysteria”.

Ingrid Rosendorf Joys, the secretary general of The Council for Religious and Life Stance Communities in Norway found it “strange” that a tribute to a peace prize winner may be seen as “affront against the Prophet”.

The Norwegian Atheist Society defended the name plaque, asking “what has Prophet Muhammad done to deserve any respect?”

The turmoil reached the Bangladeshi entrepreneur himself, forcing him to weigh in on the debate.

“No society shall be hurt by my name written in their city”, Muhammad Yunus told Dagsavisen, supporting the local Muslims. “I can fully understand their feelings. In order for them not to perceive it as offensive, I believe that the plate should be removed from the ground,” the Peace Prize winner said.

Stavanger Mayor Sagen Helgø, of the Conservative Party, argued that the installations is “by far” appropriate in terms of freedom of expression. She stressed that it was “obvious” that the case was being made by private individuals.

79-year-old Muhammad Yunus is a Bangladeshi social entrepreneur, banker, economist, and civil society leader who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for founding Grameen Bank and pioneering the concepts of microcredit and microfinance, that is, loans given to entrepreneurs too poor to qualify for traditional bank loans.

Stavanger, often called “Norway’s oil capital” is the country’s third-largest city with 130,000 inhabitants, with immigrants constituting over 20 percent of the population.”

  6. Peace TV – an Islamic channel that airs in US and on Sky in UK – faces being stripped of its broadcasting licence for saying gay people are worse than pigs and magicians should be executed (dailymail, Jul 23, 2019)
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7275765/Islamic-TV-station-said-gay-people-worse-pigs-breached-Ofcom-code.html

“An Islamic TV station that said gay people are worse than pigs and magicians should be executed faces being stripped of its UK broadcasting licence.

Peace TV, based in Dubai, was found to have shown four programmes which breached Ofcom regulations on inciting crime, hate speech and abuse.

The channel, which is broadcast on Sky and also airs in the US, said the programmes were based on Islamic teachings.

The regulator said one show – called Strengthening Your Family – The Valley of the Homosexuals – made reference to homosexual people dying ‘from a disease they contracted because they are homosexual’ and said homosexuality was ‘a very unnatural type of love that is energised by the influence of (Satan)’.

According to the Ofcom report, presenter Imam Qasim Khan said: ‘Then they make laws now, the newest and most brash and insane laws, laws that protect homosexuals and even make it legal for them to marry each other.

‘Men marrying men. Being on television in front of our children, kissing each other in the mouth, walking down the street, hugging and kissing – this society has gone insane.

‘Even an animal that is defiled by Islam, the pig – as nasty and corrupted and contaminated as a pig is – you never see two male pigs that are trying to have sex together. That’s insanity.

‘These are animals. Human beings are supposed to be dignified, they’re thinking beings, a human being is supposed to be the thinking being.’

Lord Production, who hold the licence for Peace TV, said the March 2018 show was ‘an expression of Imam Qasim Khan’s views on male homosexuality, reflecting the teachings of Islam’.

Peace TV was founded in 2006 and has since been banned in India and Bangladesh.

Hasanul Haq Inu, Bangladesh’s Information Minister, said of the channel: ‘Is not consistent with Muslim society, the Quran, Sunnah, Hadith, Bangladesh’s Constitution, our culture, customs and rituals.’

Its founder, Zaskir Naik, was barred from UK by Theresa May in 2010 for his ‘unacceptable behaviour’.

The 44-year-old had been due to give a series of lectures in London and Sheffield, but was told by Mrs May that visiting the UK was ‘a privilege, not a right’.

The home secretary can prevent people from entering Britain if they believe there is a threat to national security, public order or the safety of citizens.

Ms May said: ‘Numerous comments made by Dr Naik are evidence to me of his unacceptable behaviour.

‘Coming to the UK is a privilege, not a right and I am not willing to allow those who might not be conducive to the public good to enter the UK.

‘Exclusion powers are very serious and no decision is taken lightly or as a method of stopping open debate on issues.’

Peace TV disagreed with Ofcom’s suggestion that the Imam’s views were hate speech as, according to the report, he did not ‘call for violence or punishment of homosexuals’ and that his aim was to ‘outlaw the practice of homosexuality itself’.

It also broadcast a programme in November 2017 with a scholar discussing execution for those who practice magic, or sahir.

‘The correct reliable and majority opinion is that the punishment for a Sahir is that the person should be killed,’ said scholar Shaikh Ashfaque Salafi, according to the Ofcom report.

‘I want to make it clear that the magician’s art or the practice of magic cannot be forgiven by way of repentance.

‘To save his life he may seek repentance and get away with it, but at the first opportunity when he has a dispute with someone he will use his magic skills.

‘For that reason, for the benefit of all it is better to cut it out from its roots.’

The producers said magic, or sahir, in this case was not about ‘Harry Houdini, Paul Daniels, David Blaine or other entertainers performing magic tricks for money or fun’ but rather witchcraft and sorcery.

Ofcom recorded two further breaches: one where a programme said those who left Islam should be punished by death and a second where it was said women under 18 getting married was ‘no problem at all’, even if local laws forbid it.

A fifth programme which was investigated was found not to be in breach.

According to Ofcom, Lord Production said its programmes were ‘derived from a particular religious viewpoint, of which its viewers would be aware, and that such programming includes advice to those viewers as to how to lead their lives. It should therefore not be surprising if, at times, such advice causes offence to different sections of the public’.

The regulator said it will consider breaches for the imposition of a statutory sanction.”

    • “Ms May said: ‘Numerous comments made by Dr Naik are evidence to me of his unacceptable behaviour.

‘Coming to the UK is a privilege, not a right and I am not willing to allow those who might not be conducive to the public good to enter the UK.”

Opinions. Not death threats to kufar.

Waiting for the day, ‘Living in the UK is a privilege, not a right and I am not willing to allow those who might not be conducive to the public good to remain the UK.’

Socialists: unable to deconstruct the imam’s argument.

‘Even an animal that is defiled by Islam, the pig – as nasty and corrupted and contaminated as a pig is – you never see two male pigs that are trying to have sex together. That’s insanity.

Also pigs do not submit and pray towards a building; and pigs are not parasites to the rich.

‘These are animals. Human beings are supposed to be dignified, they’re thinking beings, a human being is supposed to be the thinking being

Could not agree with him more.

All kudos to the humble pig.

  7. Salvini to France: Italy Will No Longer Accept All Migrants Arriving in Europe (breitbart, Jul 23, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/07/23/salvini-france-italy-will-no-longer-accept-all-migrants-arriving-europe/

“Italian populist interior minister Matter Salvini has declared his country will no longer take in all migrants arriving in Europe in a letter to French interior minister Christophe Castaner.

“The choices made only in Paris and Berlin are enough, Italy is no longer willing to accept all immigrants arriving in Europe,” Salvini told his French counterpart, France Info reports.

“France and Germany can not decide on migration policies by ignoring the demands of the most exposed countries like us and Malta,” he added.

The letter was sent the day before Monday’s meeting of European Union interior ministers and foreign ministers in Paris that saw 14 member states agree to a new “solidarity mechanism” to allow new migrants to be sent to various member states after arriving in the EU.

French President Emmanuel Macron announced the new agreement saying: “The conclusion of this morning’s meeting is that, in principle, 14 member states, at this stage, have expressed their agreement with the Franco-German document.” Mr Macron did not comment on details.

Salvini was not present at the meeting and has previously stressed the importance of securing the external EU border to prevent mass migration of illegals.

In a previous meeting in Helsinki, both Italy and Malta proposed creating temporary reception centres in countries bordering those where migrants had left, saying that would be the starting point for any new negotiations.

The meetings come as the number of migrants attempting to cross the Mediterranean has increased, and with it, the activities of migrant transport NGOs such as Sea Watch, whose captains Carola Rackete and Pia Klemp are both under investigation in Italy for aiding illegal immigration.

Both German nationals face substantial prison sentences of up to 20 years if found guilty of aiding illegal migration.

Earlier this month, Rackete demanded Europe take in all of the migrants currently in Libya, estimating the number to be around half a million people.”

  8. Eritrean shot in Germany, suspect fatally shoots himself (abcnews, Jul 23, 2019)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/eritrean-shot-germany-suspect-fatally-shoots-64503102

“Prosecutors say an Eritrean man has been shot and seriously wounded in western Germany and that the suspect, who apparently had an anti-foreigner motive, fatally shot himself hours later.

Alexander Badle, a spokesman for prosecutors in Frankfurt, said Tuesday the 26-year-old Eritrean was shot in the stomach Monday lunchtime in nearby Waechsterbach. He was taken to a hospital where he underwent surgery and his life is not in danger.

About three hours later, a 55-year-old German man was found in his car in a neighboring town. He had shot himself in the head.

Badle said Tuesday the victim appeared to have been chosen at random because of his skin color. Authorities have no evidence yet that the suspect had ties to far-right groups.”

  9. Many killed in Nigerian protests for release of Shia leader (abcnews, Jul 23, 2019)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/killed-nigerian-protests-release-shia-leader-64503309

“Security was high in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, Tuesday, a day after several people were killed in clashes between police and the country’s main Shia group.

A police officer and a reporter for the Channels television network were among those killed in the clashes in the capital, Abuja, on Monday, police said.

At least 11 members of the Shia group were killed by police gunfire, said Ibrahim Musa, spokesman for the Islamic Movement of Nigeria.

Police spokesman Frank Mba blamed the Shias for the deaths. He said “heavily armed protesters defying all sense of decency violently attacked innocent citizens and police personnel on duty.” He said an additional two police officers were injured.

This is the most recent violence in a series of protests in which the Shias are urging the government to release their leader, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, who has been in jail without trial since 2015 and is reported to be in failing health.

Last week the Shia group said four of its members were shot dead during protests in Abuja and the northern city of Kaduna.

Zakzaky, his wife and many Shias were arrested following a military raid on the group’s headquarters in the northern city of Zaria.

More than 300 Shias were killed during the military operation, according to officials, but the Shias claim that more than 1,000 were killed.

Nigeria’s Shias say they are being persecuted by the country’s larger Muslim group, the Sunnis.”

  10. ‘Black Axe’: Reports of African Drug Mafia Taking Over Sweden (sputniknews, Jul 23, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201907231076330019-black-axe-reports-of-african-drug-mafia-taking-over-sweden/

“The Nigerian-based organised crime group Black Axe reportedly challenged the notorious Cosa Nostra on Mafia’s very home ground, Sicily.

Gothenburg, Sweden’s second-largest city, has been reported as the likely springboard for the African mafia group known as Black Axe. The criminal organisation, which has roots in Nigeria, is now spreading across Scandinavia’s largest country.

At present, several people reported to belong to the feared mafia group are in custody in Gothenburg over “large-scale heroin and cocaine smuggling”, the newspaper Göteborgs-Posten reported.

The first arrests reportedly took place in September 2018. Since then the investigation has snowballed to involve at least 17 detainees. Most of them come from Nigeria, while some hail from the Gambia, Sierra Leone and the Netherlands. All of them are suspected of being part of a large smuggling scheme. Since some of the gang members now reside in Gothenburg, the Swedish authorities suspect that the mafia group may have plans to take root in the city more permanently.

“It is about huge amounts of drugs in different places in Europe”, prosecutor Anna Svedin at the national unit against international and organised crime told Göteborgs-Posten.

According to her, a total of 20 people are expected to be prosecuted.

“Judging by the number of detainees and the extent of the investigation, this is by far one of the largest cases the Customs have ever had”, Gill Eriksson, the deputy head at the Customs Criminal Investigation Unit in Gothenburg, said.

According to Eriksson, drugs are smuggled using capsules swallowed by mules. The main transit routes involve the Öresund Bridge between Denmark and Sweden, as well as ferry lines from Germany between Kiel and Gothenburg, and Travemünde and Malmö.

Black Axe reportedly challenged the very Cosa Nostra on the Mafia’s home ground, Sicily, only to later launch a lucrative cooperation. Its organisation is heavily hierarchical and military-based.

“Our view is that we are dealing with well-organised activity conducted for profit, more or less in the form of a company. Much of the investigation material indicates that some of our suspects belong to the Black Axe,” Anna Svedin said.

This weekend, one of Sweden’s largest newspapers, Aftonbladet, published an article where locals describe Gothenburg as a horrible place in a state of “decay” and “disrepair”, rife with drugs. Last week alone, two young men were stabbed to death in the city, making national headlines and spurring a heated debate.

In the article, locals described Gothenburg as a highly unsafe place, where drugs are sold openly in the street, residents carry weapons, and robberies are becoming commonplace, to a point where residents avoid the city centre after darkness.

“I’m more scared now. At some point it’s my or my relatives’ turn to get hurt. Robbed or raped,” a 34-year-old woman told the newspaper.

With a population of 570,000 people and about a million in its metropolitan area, Gothenburg is Sweden’s second-largest city, home to Scandinavia’s largest port. A quarter of its population is of non-Swedish descent.”

  11. Germany: Muslim father beats son over cross necklace which the latter wore in the context of a theater performance of his school+++
The performances The 3 Musketeers of the Musical-Company of the Lise-Meitner High School (“LMG”) in Grenzach-Wyhlen almost ended. Reason: the Muslim father of one of the leading actors had noticed at the premiere that his son in the role of Cardinal Richelieus wears a cross around his Muslim neck. The school reacted “de-escalating” and promised the father, who had gone mad, the performance of the son without wearing a cross at his neck. He agreed after being assured by the school that all photos showing his son wearing a cross would be removed or program pages glued together. The musical director apologized for hurting the affected family. As witnesses unanimously report, the father of the Richelieus actor appeared at the “after-show party” of the premiere event of the musical company of the Lise Meitner High School (LMG) dragged his son into the car, yelled at him and hit him in the face.Musical director Thomas Vogt was completely shocked, reports the newspaper Oberbadische-Zeitung. According to Vogt, the teacher was able to “de-escalate” the father after the Muslim was promised that his son would not wear a cross around his neck during the three upcoming performances. Also the demand to remove all photos showing his son with cross was submissively accepted. Because the musical star’s father threatened to check the observance of his conditions – which the hard-hitting Muslim then also did – the musical team not only submissively removed all pictures showing the Muslim son wearing the cross . They even went so far as to glue a double page together in all the remaining booklets because the young man could be seen on a photo showing the Christian symbol.Teacher and musical director Thomas Vogt also stressed to the newspaper that this was a “compromise” in a positive sense, as the performance of the musical was part of the school project “Music for Peace”.

  14. Pakistan: Muslim Employers Accused of Raping, Killing Christian Boy for Demanding Salary (breitbart, Jul 23, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2019/07/23/pakistan-muslim-employers-accused-raping-killing-christian-boy-demanding-salary/

“A ten-year-old Christian boy in Pakistan was allegedly raped, tortured, and killed by his Muslim employers at a dangerous scrap metal factory for demanding full pay to help support his mother, brother, and drug-addict father, a media outlet reported over the weekend.

The U.S. government has designated Pakistan a “Country of Particular Concern (CPC)” for engaging and tolerating “particularly severe religious freedom violations, meaning those that are systematic, ongoing, and egregious” against Christians and other minorities.

On Saturday, the Pakistan Christian Post reported:

Mohammad Akram and Irfan, nicknamed Kalo, were both arrested in Sarghoda on the 14th July, for the murder of Badil Shahzad, from the village of Rasheedabad in Essa Nagri, Faisalabad.

A post-mortem conducted on the corpse of Badil while at the Allied hospital revealed that he had been subjected to a sustained ferocious attack to the head and had received multiple injuries over his body. Moon has been traumatized following his brother’s death and hasn’t left his house since and often screams in terror thinking the men responsible will take him too.

Badil was pronounced dead on July 11 after he succumbed to injuries sustained the previous day.

Mehwish Bhatti, the national executive for the British Asian Christian Association (BACA), reportedly declared:

Badil lived a life of poverty and has been killed simply for working [too] hard and asking for [a] just reward. His tormentors and exploiters knew he was a Christian and used that to treat Badil as they wanted, but his vulnerability in life will be his strength in heaven, as this church-attending young child always retained his love for Christ gaining him entry to heaven. The evil men who beat this young child must be brought to justice so that they cannot deliver their evil actions on any more innocent children.

Juliet Chowdhry, a BACA trustee, added:

That child labour still exists, is immensely profuse and is so brutal is a blight on the reputation of Pakistan. Employers for decades have exploited young children in Pakistan – none more so than Christian children who are targeted as they live in the most impoverished and isolated communities.

The Pakistani constitution prohibits child labor, but breaches of the law are ignored and penalized lightly in the rare chance of prosecution, the Pakistan Christian Post reported, adding:

Badil, the son of a drug addict Shahzad Masih (42 yrs) took a job working for Mr. Akram at his scrap metal dealership for 100 rupees [63 U.S. cents] a day … to help with his family meet their daily living demands.

Mr. Masih became a burden on the family finances trying to feed his drug habit as the boys’ mother, Sharifa Bibi (40 yrs) was working as a maid earning only 3500 Pak rupees ($22) per month.

Two days before his death, the boy came home later than usual with only half of his wage, infuriating his mother who scolded the child and allegedly urged him to quit his job and focus on his education instead.

The boy’s brother reportedly witnessed the factory’s Muslim employers attack Badil on July 10 but did not intervene out of fear for his safety.

Moon, the victim’s brother, reportedly told BACA:

They took Badil inside the store which is full of scrap. For half an hour I was completely unaware of what was happening with Badil inside. Eventually both men came outside and pretended as if nothing had happened inside.I thought my brother had also left the store from another exit so I went to look for him. I searched vigorously for 15 minutes and then saw my mother, so I rushed to her to tell her what had happened.

The mother reportedly found her son unconscious and barely alive.

In its annual report issued in June, USCIRF urged the State Department to re-designate Pakistan as a country of particular concern, arguing, “Extremist groups and societal actors continued to discriminate against and attack religious minorities, including Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Ahmadis, and Shi’a Muslims.”

“The government of Pakistan failed to adequately protect these groups, and it perpetrated systematic, ongoing, egregious religious freedom violations,” it added.”

Unrelated but also in the area is this pastoral letter, just curious if that’ll be an opening one day for more diversity like the uk:

    Greetings to you all.

As many of you know, given my unexpected hospital stay, I was only able to participate in General Synod through watching the livestream. Even at that distance, the experience with all its decisions and statements was full of many different, powerful emotions: amazement, anguish, sadness, frustration, grief and gratitude, to name a few. We cannot expect to leave these emotions behind, especially those more difficult emotions related to the consideration of the change to the marriage canon.

For me this entire experience has been about discernment, that is, looking for the signs of the Holy Spirit at work, not just during all the ups and downs at General Synod 2019, but in the three years leading up to it, and seeking to join with that work in wonder, love and hope.

Now as a result of this discernment, I want to lay out what we as a Diocese under the guidance of the Holy Spirit will do related to the marriage of same-sex couples.

Three years ago at General Synod 2016, I issued the statement included above as part of a response to the many emotions that emerged at that time as General Synod 2016 voted on the first reading of the amendment to the marriage canon. As I came to find out later, I am one of many people in the Anglican Church of Canada who sincerely want to work on making room for differing views on and practices related to marriage in our Church.

For many of us this has had to with our belief in what it means to be Anglican Christians—a Church that from the beginning stretched to hold itself together despite differing perspectives on theological, spiritual, liturgical and pastoral matters, a Church that comprehends complexity and finds the tension in the midst of complexity ultimately to be a rich and creative way of living, a Church dedicated to holding differences together, even though this “holding together” comes at a cost to all involved.

Over the last three years, I’ve watched many important groups come to the idea of “making room” for differing views and practices related to marriage, all of which culminated in the following: our own May 2019 Diocesan Synod at which our Synod in its wisdom adopted the affirmations in the Council of General Synod’s “A Word to the Church,” the adoption of these same affirmations at General Synod 2019 by an overwhelming majority and, finally, the July 15th statement from the House of Bishops apologizing for the hurt they have caused and affirming the idea of “local option” for those dioceses and communities where offering marriage to same-sex couples makes sense.

As I look at these many interrelated conversations and actions what I see is this: the Holy Spirit has been and is at work guiding the Anglican Church of Canada to move from attempting to resolve our different views on marriage by legislation in which some win and some lose, to a life together in which we as Anglican Christians strive to offer one another greater mutual respect and room for choice on this issue.

After General Synod, 2016, we as a Diocese held off on authorizing liturgies for the marriage of same-sex couples in the belief that the Anglican Church of Canada needed more time for the Spirit to work within the hearts and minds of its people and within its many convening bodies. As I see it, that work, though it has been painful, is well underway, encouraging us to the following action:

As of August 1, 2019, I will authorize a liturgy for the marriage of same-sex couples within the Diocese of New Westminster under the following conditions:

•that the priest wishing to officiate at the marriage make a request of me to use that liturgy and work in consultation with me in preparing to conduct that liturgy. I specify this in that I want us all to learn together as we gain experience in working with this new liturgy and in preparing same-sex couples for the sacrament of marriage.
    • that the Parish Council of any church hosting or wanting to host the marriage of same-sex couples concur with and embrace the decision for same-sex marriages to occur there, and
    • that any same-sex couple wishing to be married satisfy all the typical and important requirements for marriage (proper preparation for marriage, at least one of the couple having been baptized, that the marriage take place in a church or another public place).

I expect the first two conditions to be temporary until we as a community become familiar with this change.

As I have stated before, I will continue to do all in my power to maintain a Diocesan culture that respects a variety of theologies, understandings and practices related to marriage. Therefore, though I am moving forward on authorizing a liturgy for the marriage of same-sex couples, no priest will be compelled to officiate at the marriage of a same-sex couple. Additionally, a person’s position on marriage will not serve as a litmus test for inclusion in this Diocese whose diversity in culture, theology and practice I deeply value. Finally, as a Diocese, we will do our part to maintain our relationships with other dioceses and communities that do not choose to authorize liturgies for the marriage of same-sex couples.

I want to offer my thanks to many as we have worked our way through this issue. Thank you to all who have advised me along the way. Thank you to all who have been honest with me about their frustrations, fears and hurt related to this important question. Thank you to those members of the LGBTQ2S community who continue to hold onto the vision that the Anglican Church of Canada can be a place that welcomes them fully and open-heartedly, all based on its commitment to follow Jesus. And, finally, I want to thank all the same-sex couples and their allies who have been waiting for marriage to be possible within the Anglican Church of Canada in the Diocese of New Westminster. I rejoice with you today.

I ask that you please post this pastoral letter on your electronic sites, print out copies making them easily available in the parish, and read the letter aloud at worship services on Sunday, July 21, 2019.

  17. Venezuela’s lights coming back to life following outage

    ,Associated Press•July 23, 2019

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — The lights were returning to life across Venezuela on Tuesday following a massive blackout that crippled communications, froze the Caracas metro and snarled rush hour traffic, officials said.

Energy Minister Freddy Brito said power had been restored in the capital of Caracas and at least five of the South American nation’s 23 states. Partial power had returned to another four states, he said.

“We’re moving forward in the recovery of the national electricity system,” Brito said, adding that workers at the state-run power firm Corpoelec were committed to returning life to normal.

Officials said they were suspending school and work Tuesday for most Venezuelans because of the power failure.

The outage hit shortly after 4 p.m. on Monday and officials blamed an “electromagnetic attack” against the nation’s hydroelectric system. Government opponents say years of mismanagement and corruption leave the grid vulnerable to failure.

  18. As Hong Kong police face protester anger, some would rather be on the other side

HONG KONG – The 29-year-old police officer was nearing the 24th hour of his shift last month, standing with his unit between a throng of protesters and Hong Kong’s most important government building, when the order came down: It was time to escalate.

Edward suited up. He donned his gas mask as officers readied tear-gas canisters.

The stinging clouds came thick and fast, along with rounds of rubber bullets. The crowd scattered. Officers rushed masked young protesters, thumping them with batons.

He did not want to follow those orders on June 12. This was not the side he wanted to be on.

Five years ago, Edward was camped out with other protesters on Hong Kong streets, calling for free elections. Those demonstrations failed to achieve their aims but invigorated a generation of young activists frustrated by China’s refusal to grant the semiautonomous city full democracy.

The purported catalyst for the petition aimed at banning future Trump campaign rallies was the “send her back” chants by attendees at a recent rally in North Carolina.

The petition was drafted by founder Igor Volsky, vice president of the far-left Center for American Progress and director of Guns Down America. In the petition, he writes.

  23. UK tanker takedown: Iran taunts, May disappoints
    By J.E. Dyer July 23, 2019

Regrettably, it looks as if the analysis when last we visited this problem was exactly accurate. Iran used a “regulatory enforcement” excuse to harass the UK tanker Stena Impero, and then proceeded to taunt Britain over the captured ship rather than behave like a responsible nation merely enforcing regulations.

Indeed, Iran arguably engaged in piracy at one point, by hoisting the national ensign of Iran over the tanker.

Matthew Brodsky had an excellent tweet series on Monday. The elusive weasel-worded claims of the Iranian speaker (speaking in English), in the released audio of the exchange between the IRGCN and the Royal Navy frigate HMS Montrose (F236), unfold as a classic of their kind.

  24. Spygate: Weissmann shows up – again – apparently putting finger on the scale of due process
    By J.E. Dyer July 23, 2019

Former Justice Department official Andrew Weissmann has been called “Robert Mueller’s pit bull,” but that’s probably not fair to pit bulls. The things Weissmann has reportedly been involved in as part of the Mueller operation aren’t really what pit bulls – honest, straightforward animals – do.

We will see as it all washes out if the latest report from John Solomon is validated. He has a good track record so far, and refers to some fact-checkable sourcing. The gist of the report is that in mid-2017, when the Steele dossier was already looking like a prosecutorial train wreck, Weissmann offered Ukrainian oligarch Dmitry Firtash a sweetheart deal on unrelated federal charges (in Chicago) if Firtash would testify against people connected to Donald Trump, including Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort.

The implication of the documents and background information Solomon cites is that Firtash was being asked to “compose”; i.e., not just “sing.”

Solomon notes how early this was in the Mueller effort. A key meeting in the process, with Firtash’s lawyers, took place on 7 July 2017; i.e., at a time when Mueller, appointed in late May, didn’t even have his whole team assembled, and had not yet received the August 2017 “scope memo” that framed his work for the next 21 months.

  25. Jesse Jackson: President Trump must stop attacking Rep. Ilhan Omar

The Rev. Jesse Jackson said Monday that President Donald Trump should stop attacking U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar, and that he is worried that the president’s focus on the Democratic congresswoman from Minnesota is putting her in danger.

“She should not be attacked and vilified by the president for taking the positions she takes,” Jackson said in a phone interview. “It’s not fair but it’s also very dangerous.”

Jackson’s office contacted the Star Tribune to say he had thoughts on Trump and Omar that he wanted to share. 26. Mayor, residents go after deli owner who used ‘send her back’ message
GOPUSA Staff San Jose Mercury News (San Jose, Calif.)

The owner of a small deli in the East Bay town of Clayton is facing a backlash from locals and social-media users after putting up a controversial promotion on his Facebook page.

In a post on his personal Facebook page, John Canesa, owner of Canesa’s Brooklyn Heros deli in Clayton, wrote: “Meatballs made with beef today in case we offend any of our overly sensitive pork haters!! Free side when you say send her back! #canesasbrooklynheros.”

The message immediately touched a nerve in the small community on the northern flank of Mt. Diablo, coming just days after President Donald Trump tweeted that four congresswomen of color “go back” to where they came from. That controversy was further enflamed last Wednesday, when a crowd of Trump supporters changed “send her back” during a campaign rally in North Carolina, a message that Canesa was apparently referencing in his Facebook post.

Canesa’s Facebook is no longer visible to the public, and no one answered the phone at the deli Monday morning. But as reaction rolled in, both in support of and against Canesa, many immediately moved the conversation onto social-media platforms and local TV stations. Some blasted Canesa’s post, including the foreign-born mayor of Clayton, t, who said she was “very saddened” by the entire affair.

  27. Groups of jeering men douse NYPD cops with water; police brass slam anti-police rhetoric of politicians
GOPUSA Staff New York Daily News

Humiliating videos surfaced online Monday of groups of jeering punks dousing NYPD officers with water in separate incidents — and in one case, hitting a cop in the head with a bucket while trying to make an arrest.

In all the videos, the attacked officers refused to confront their tormentors.

The viral clips, which appear to have been shot during the city’s recent heat wave, enraged NYPD cops and had the city’s top police unions blaming New York politicians and their “anti-police rhetoric” for the officers’ lack of response.

“Our anti-cop lawmakers have gotten their wish: the NYPD is now frozen,” Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch fumed. “It’s not the fault of these police officers. It’s the end result of the torrent of bad policies and anti-police rhetoric that has been streaming out of City Hall and Albany for years now.

“We are approaching the point of no return,” Lynch said. “Disorder controls the streets, and our elected leaders refuse to allow us to take them back. As police officers, we need to draw a line.”

On June 17th, the St. Louis Park City Council voted 5-0 to get rid of the Pledge of Allegiance. On July 15th, just as the abolition was set to take effect, the Council voted 7-0 in a room crowded with American flags and red, white and blue signs, to bring the Pledge back. Outside a giant inflatable bald eagle kept watch.

It was an unlikely victory for patriotism in an implausible place.

St. Louis Park is a small Democrat city in Minnesota. Hillary Clinton beat Trump here 3-1. Rep. Ilhan Omar represents it in the House. The firm at the center of her tax and marriage scandal is based here.

Councilwoman Anne Mavity, who had called for the abolition of the pledge, insisted that the pledge didn’t reflect the city’s diverse values. As part of those diverse values, she had endorsed Rep. Omar.

“Omar,” Councilwoman Mavity had said, was a voice for an “unapologetic progressive agenda.”

    Daniel Greenfield

Doug Band is a key figure in the Shakespeareandrama of Clintonworld. He was Bill Clinton’s right-hand man. And he’s in Jeffrey Epstein’s little black book.

Name found in Epstein’s black book and on Epstein’s private jet log.

A onetime White House intern who climbed his way to being Bill Clinton’s bag carrier, body man, fixer, and all-purpose gatekeeper, Band arranged for the former president to travel to Africa on Epstein’s 727 in 2002. Band would go on to help his boss found the Clinton Global Initiative in 2005, a choice platform from which he launched his own lucrative favor-trading corporate-advisory firm, Teneo. Throughout that time, he took a number of trips on Epstein’s plane and attended parties at his townhouse. Band resigned from his position at CGI in 2012; leaked emails later showed Band and Chelsea Clinton trading accusations of conflicts of interest in a war of influence over her parents

There’s an added significance here because Epstein claimed that he helped create the Clinton Global Initiative.

  30. Revisiting Obama’s Trashing of the Space Program and Trump’s Restoration
    July 22, 2019
    Daniel Greenfield

As we celebrate (and the media decries the sexism) of the moon landing, let’s revisit what Obama did to the space program and how Trump is turning it around.

This week marked the 44th anniversary of the moon landing. Three months earlier, an irritated Bolden had responded to critics of a directionless NASA by saying, “NASA will not take the lead on a human lunar mission. NASA is not going to the Moon.”

In 2008, Obama’s position paper said that he “endorses the goal of sending human missions to the Moon by 2020.” He lied. In 2010, he announced that returning to the moon was not a worthwhile goal because it “lacked innovation”.

As far back as 2007, Obama had called for delaying the Constellation program, which would have replaced the space shuttles, for five years in order to pay for his education program. He was the only major candidate to do so.

Once he got into office, the delay became a full-fledged cancellation.

During Obama’s first year in office, economic aid to Pakistan nearly tripled to $1.3 billion. While Obama could find no room in his budget request for the Constellation space program, a year after the Bin Laden raid, which caught Pakistan harboring America’s greatest enemy, the 2012 budget requested $3 billion in aid for Pakistan.

“With regard to President Obama’s 2010 plan, I have yet to find a person in NASA, the Defense Department, the Air Force, the National Academies, industry, or academia that had any knowledge of the plan prior to its announcement,” Neil Armstrong wrote.

“How could such a chain of events happen?” the first man to walk on the moon asked. “A plan that was invisible to so many was likely contrived by a very small group in secret who persuaded the President that this was a unique opportunity to put his stamp on a new and innovative program. I believe the President was poorly advised.”

Armstrong was being kind in assuming that Obama did not know that he was trashing NASA. His 2007 Constellation proposal showed that this had been his plan all along.

    • The left has many reasons for trying to destroy the US Space Program among them are:

1: The Space Program was showing that the US was the nation that was going to explore, colonize and exploit space, the left knows that this will bring in economic riches that will keep the US strong for Decades if not Centuries.

2: The nation that controls space (especially the HEO and LEO positions) control of Earth. Think Rods from God, Thor’s Hammer, Flying Crowbars or any other name for the kinetic energy strike weapon purposed by Jerry Pournelle back in the 1980s.

3: Scientists kept predicting a working FTL drive 20 to 30 years after we return to space to stay. This would allow some of us to leave earth to a place where the left can’t tell us how to live our lives.

There are many others but those are the dominate one.

Full honest and disclosure, it was the Liberal Republican Richard Nixon who cancelled the Moon exploration program and said that the US was going to concentrate on the space around earth only.

  32. Tommy Robinson’s Guilty Persecutors
The UK wants to snuff out the fighting spirit that Tommy represents.
    July 23, 2019
    Bosch Fawstin

The way the UK government operates today makes me believe that the question it most asks itself is: Will this please or displease Muslims?

A few examples: last year, a Muslim “protestor” who cracked a police officer in the skull with his stick at a Tommy Robinson rally was spared jail, which pleased Muslims. Tommy Robinson was thrown in prison – twice – for the trumped up charge of “contempt of court” and “causing distress” to Muslim rapists, which pleases Muslims. Mohammad cartoons were absent from the UK’s Media “Freedom” Conference’s display of censored political cartoons, which pleases Muslims.

Tommy Robinson has been referred to as “the most hated man in Britain”. He’s also loved by many Brits for being one of the only prominent voices in the UK to speak out against Islam – and his country’s submission to it. But about him being the most hated man in Britain: hated by what standard? By the standard of the UK government and of the powerful and influential leaders who knew about and said and did nothing about decades of its young citizens being raped by Muslim gangs, which they euphemistically refer to as “grooming gangs”. They’ve disgraced themselves and their country by doing everything they can to defend Islam, and doing everything they can to vilify, criticize and legally punish Islam critics, exactly as an Islamic dictatorship would do.

Tommy Robinson is a fighter in a country that no longer fights. That’s one of the main reasons why he’s so hated. He’s a fighter in a country where many have given up, and where many are taught to believe that fighting is “uncouth”. His fighting spirit is rejected in a country where many are resigned to allow Islam and leftism to destroy it once and for all. Tommy Robinson is most hated by those in the UK who’ve given up on the UK, and they don’t want to be reminded of it by someone who condemns them for being the sellouts that they are.

In a move sure to test the boundaries of Turkey’s partnership with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and its alliance with the United States, the Turkish military this week began to take delivery of components of Russia’s S-400 anti-aircraft missile system. That move prompted the U.S. to oust Turkey from the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program. Turkish pilots and technicians training in the U.S. will be sent back to Turkey by the end of the month.

Turkey was scheduled to take delivery of about 100 F-35s at a cost of some $1.4 billion. In addition, Turkey’s involvement in the F-35 program involved more than just the purchase of aircraft. Ankara was slated to provide some 900 components for the F-35, giving its defense industry and economy a significant boost. That will no longer occur and Lockheed-Martin has already formulated contingency plans so that production will not be impeded by Turkey’s removal.

Turkey’s ouster from the F-35 program was prompted by two overriding considerations. The first is grounded practicability. Standardization and compatibility are integral to NATO’s defense strategy. For logistical purposes, standardization of military equipment is favored when practicable. In addition, sophisticated weapon platforms need to be able to communicate with each other and uniformity facilitates this goal. The Russian S-400 throws an unfamiliar wrench into the wheels of a well-oiled machine.

The Gateway Pundit was sent several updates last week on Ilhan Omar’s history of tax fraud and her marriage to her biological brother.

What is interesting is that as Ilhan continues to deny her marriage to her brother there is clear evidence that she is lying.

The marriage certificate between Ilhan and Ahmed Nur Said Elmi has his birthdate as April 4, 1985.
This is the same birthdate used on his school documents

In Voerde, Germany, a 28-year-old Kosovo-Albanian pushed a 34-year-old mother in front of an arriving train out of ” desire to kill”. The woman was run over by the train and died on the spot. Germany: Again! Immigrant spits on mother with child and pushes her onto the railway tracks
    https://searchlight-germany.blogspot.com/2019/07/germany-again-immigrant-spits-on-mother.html
Yesterday, Sunday afternoon, a 25-year-old woman from Bergisch Gladbach and a 17-year-old immigrant had a first verbal and then physical argument at the Refrath train station of line 1 on Wickenpfädchen Street. As a result of the dispute, the young man is said to have pressed the woman onto the railway tracks. The victim suffered minor injuries and filed a criminal complaint. Around 04:15 p.m. two youths smoked a joint at the KVB stop Refrath. When a 25-year-old woman with her baby carriage passed the young men, she asked them to refrain from smoking weed so as not to harm her two-year-old daughter. The accused is said to have spat on the woman and blown smoke into the toddler’s face. There was a scuffle in which the 17-year-old allegedly dragged the young mother onto the tracks so that she fell into the track bed behind the train. Two KVB employees finally detained the accused; the other youth fled to the Wickenpfädchen street in the direction of the Bensberg stop. The accused in turn claimed that the woman had attacked him and that he had fallen to the ground. Thereupon he wanted to tackle the woman as well and was held on the shoulder by a KVB employee. While trying to break free, he turned and the victim accidentally fell into the track bed.The investigations are continuing; video evaluations should now bring clarity about the exact course of events.

  39. Far-Left Anarchists Suspected of ‘Terrorist’ Sabotage After Italian Train Chaos (breitbart, Jul 23, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/07/23/far-left-anarchists-suspected-sabotage-italian-train-chaos/

“Far-left anarchist extremists are suspected to have been behind a fire at an Italian electrical hub for high-speed trains causing hours of delays.

The attack occurred in Rovezzano, just outside of the city of Florence, with investigators believing three fires were started using a flammable liquid, Il Giornale reports.

Investigators believe that far-left anarchists may be behind the attack due to similarities to another attack on rail infrastructure that occurred in 2014, not far from Rovezzano.

Furthermore, the date of the attack lines up with the date of the judgement in a bombing case from 2017 in which anarchist extremists bombed a book shop in Florence linked to the far-right Casapound group.

The blast ended up injuring police officer Mario Vece who lost a hand due to the incident after trying to secure the area.

Prosecutors in the railway sabotage case said this week that the perpetrators were “terrorists” and that it was an “act of war”.

Thirty-nine anarchist extremists were found guilty on Monday in connection with the bombing, receiving sentences between 10 months and nine years.

A website linked to Italy’s anarchist scene also commented on the alleged act of sabotage asking if the incident was “a coincidence? A ‘cowardly provocation’? Or, more simply and humanly, a gesture of love and anger?” Investigators say they have not ruled the message out as a claim of responsibility.

Populist interior minister Matteo Salvini commented don the case saying: “They deserve years in jail, given that they have blocked Italy and ruined the day for many Italians. This afternoon I will be in Rovezzano to assess the situation.”

Salvini added that he would look to see if there were any links between the case and anti-TAV [a train tunnel between Italy and France] protesters who had attacked police in recent days.

Far-left Antifa anarchists have also targetted Salvini’s League party in the past with Spanish anarchist Juan Antonio Sorroche Fernandez being arrested in May in connection to the bombing of a League office in Treviso that occurred in August last year.

Antifa groups in other countries, which as Germany, have also engaged in infrastructure sabotage, creating terror manuals such as the infamous “Prisma” document that teaches members how to sabotage electrical grids and other pieces of infrastructure.”

  40. French Region’s Firefighters Attacked Every Day Since July 1st (breitbart, Jul 23, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/07/23/french-regions-firefighters-attacked-every-day-since-july-1st/

“Firefighters in the French region of Loire-Atlantique claim they have been attacked by members of the public every day since the start of July.

Over the weekend, 15 firefighters in Nantes protested the ongoing violence stating that they were fed up being attacked after between 30 and 40 firefighters had been assaulted since the start of the year, newspaper Ouest France reports.

Thierry Vogne of the Southern Union at departmental service of fire and rescue services (SDIS) of Loire-Atlantique claimed that since the start of the month a firefighter has been attacked every single day in the region including three who were recently faced death threats.

“From now on, we have to keep in mind not only the victim but we must also take into account the environment,” Vogne said and added: “Yesterday, it was insults. Today they are threats of death and physical aggression.”

Loire-Atlantique is not the only region dealing with violence towards firefighters.

In March of last year, the Alpes-Maritimes firefighters union released a series of short videos to the public calling on people to stop attacking the emergency services workers including one highlighting far-left extremist violence.

Attacks on firefighters have also led to serious consequences, including the death of a woman in Nice last August who died as a result of a fire in her apartment. Shortly after arriving at the scene, the firefighters were harassed by several local youths who hindered their efforts to put out the fire.

Other branches of the emergency services have also seen attacks on their members, including an attack last month in the commune of Ygos-Saint-Saturnin where volunteers working for the Fédération Nationale de Protection Civile (FNPC) were sprayed with acid.

In Toulon, workers for the Mobile Emergency and Resuscitation Service (SMUR) were given bulletproof vests last year to defend themselves against the growing tide of violence.”

Mir Ziaullah Longove, the provincial home minister, described the bombing as an “act of terrorism” by the “enemies of Pakistan,” and said an emergency has been declared.

  42. Iraqi forces clear farmland near Baghdad of IS militants (abcnews, Jul 23, 2019)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/iraqi-forces-clear-farmland-baghdad-militants-64507049

“Iraqi security forces were sweeping villages and farmland north of Baghdad on Tuesday as part of an operation aimed at clearing remnants of the Islamic State group from around the capital.

A military helicopter soared overhead as troops searched for weapon caches and bombs in Tarmiyah and Iraqi river police combed the Tigris River. The area is about 50 kilometers (30 miles) north of Baghdad.

The dragnet is part of the operation dubbed “Will to Victory,” which started two weeks ago along the border with Syria and was extended last week to areas north of Baghdad and in the Diyala, Salahuddin and Anbar provinces.

Iraq declared victory against IS in July 2017, but the extremists, who once controlled much of northern and western Iraq, have continued to carry out attacks, including ambushes and kidnappings.

Maj. Gen. Jalil al-Rubaie, commander of the Baghdad Operations Command, described it as a “well planned operation” and urged residents of Tarmiyah to cooperate with security forces. Much of the area is sparsely populated farmland, which militants have used to launch attacks on security forces.

Al-Rubaie said the operation was meant to reassure the population in and around Baghdad about security in the region.”
