Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump for agreeing to hold what he called a “historic” security meeting between the national security advisors of the three countries, at a press conference ahead of the trilateral talks in Jerusalem on Tuesday.
Netanyahu said “it’s historic because it’s the first meeting between our three countries’ national security advisors in our capital Jerusalem. I want to thank President Trump and President Putin for agreeing to hold the security summit and for sending their most senior advisors.”
The Israeli prime minister noted that the leaders would use the summit to advance stability in the region, particularly in Syria. He said, “Israel has acted hundreds of times to prevent Iran from entrenching itself militarily in Syria while it actively and openly calls and works for our destruction.”
“Israel will continue to prevent Iran from using neighbouring territory as platforms to attack us, and Israel will respond forcefully to any such attacks,” added Netanyahu.
Patrushev said that he shared Netanyahu’s wish to see “a peaceful and secure” Syria, noting that “Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity also need to be ensured, in accordance with the United Nations Charter.”
Israel: ‘Iran remains our ally and partner’ – Russia’s Patrushev after trilateral security talks
Moscow will not accept efforts to present Tehran as the “main threat” to security in the Middle East, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said in a press conference on Jerusalem on Tuesday after holding the first ever trilateral meeting with his Israeli and US counterparts.
“Iran has been and remains our ally and partner. In this regard, any attempts to present Tehran as the main threat to regional security and even more so to put it on a par with ISIS or other terrorist groups is unacceptable for us”, Patrushev said after talks with US’ John Bolton and Israel’s Meir Ben-Shabbat.
He added that Russia “called on partners for restraint and mutual steps, on the basis of which it is necessary to consistently move towards easing tensions in Israeli-Iranian relations”.
Discussing the recent attacks on oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman, the security chief stated that “It is necessary to conduct an objective investigation instead of assigning blame, to really understand what happened.”

The Islamic Republic of Iran is spreading its state-sponsored terrorism to Western African countries to attack the US and Western assets, the British Daily Telegraph reported on Wednesday.
“Iran is setting up a network of terror cells in Africa to attack US and other Western targets in retaliation for Washington’s decision to impose sanctions against Tehran, according to Western security officials,” according to the newspaper.The article by veteran defense and security journalist Con Coughlin said that the “new terror network has been established on the orders of Qassem Suleimani, the head of the Quds Force, the elite section of Iran’s Republican Guard Corps that has responsibility for overseas operations.”
The United States government classifies Iran’s regime as the leading international state-sponsor of terrorism.
According to the Telegraph, “The aim of the new terror cell is to target US and other Western military bases on the continent, as well as embassies and officials. The Iranian cells are said to be active in a number of African countries including Sudan, Chad, Ghana, Niger, Gambia and the Central African Republic.”
“Iran is setting up a new terrorist infrastructure in Africa with the aim of attacking Western targets,” a senior Western security source told The Telegraph, adding, “It is all part of Tehran’s attempts to expand its terrorist operations across the globe.”
The report noted “Intelligence officials say Iran has been working on the new terror network for the past three years since signing the nuclear deal on freezing its uranium enrichment activities with the US and other major world powers in 2015.”

STRAßBURG dpa | Die deutsche Hilfsorganisation Sea-Watch hat beim Europäischen Gerichtshof für Menschenrechte (EGMR) erneut eine Niederlage einstecken müssen. Der Gerichtshof kam dem Eilantrag des Rettungsschiffes „Sea-Watch 3“, in Italien anlegen zu dürfen, am Dienstagabend nicht nach. Die italienischen Behörden müssten Migranten, die wegen ihres Alters oder Gesundheitszustandes besonderen Schutz brauchten, aber weiterhin Unterstützung zukommen lassen, so der Gerichtshof.
Das Schiff hatte die Migranten vor rund zwei Wochen vor Libyen aufgenommen und wartet seitdem mit 42 Geflüchteten an Bord vergeblich vor der sizilianischen Insel Lampedusa auf eine Einfahrtserlaubnis.
Da es an Bord keine Menschen mehr gebe, die auf dem Schiff gefährdet seien, werde derzeit kein Grund für die Anwendung der Maßnahmen gesehen, hieß es in der Begründung der Entscheidung. Familien, Schwangere und Kranke hätten das Boot bereits verlassen können.
Anträge auf einstweilige Maßnahme
Die Kapitänin des Rettungsschiffes, Carola Rackete, sowie rund 40 Migranten an Bord hatten nach EGMR-Angaben Anträge auf eine sogenannte einstweilige Maßnahme gestellt, in Italien an Land gehen zu dürfen. Nach diesem Verfahren kann der Gerichtshof in Fällen drohender Menschenrechtsverletzungen einschreiten und Staaten anweisen, Abhilfe zu schaffen.
Die Entscheidung des EGMR zeige, „dass niemand Verantwortung übernehmen will“, sagte Sea-Watch-Sprecher Ruben Neugebauer. Das sei aber zwingend notwendig: Die Situation könne nicht ewig andauern, denn die Lage auf dem Schiff spitze sich immer weiter zu, so Neugebauer.

Captain of Sea-Watch threatens to run Italy ‘blockade’
ROME: The captain of the Sea-Watch 3 charity rescue vessel threatened on Tuesday (Jun 25) to enter Italian waters illegally to bring 42 migrants to shore after they spent 13 days in limbo at sea.
Interior Minister Matteo Salvini has banned the Dutch-flagged vessel from approaching under a “closed ports” policy, which has seen migrants repeatedly stranded at sea.
“I will enter Italian waters and bring them to safety on Lampedusa,” Carola Rackete said in an interview with La Repubblica daily, in reference to Italy’s southernmost island.
The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in Strasbourg on Tuesday declined to intervene but called on Italy to “continue to provide all necessary assistance” to vulnerable migrants.
The German NGO Sea-Watch had asked the ECHR to impose “interim measures” on Italy, saying the court could ask Rome to take urgent steps to resolve the standoff in order to “prevent serious and irremediable violations of human rights”.
Salvini said Tuesday the charity vessel could “stay there until Christmas and New Year” but would never be allowed in.
Of the 53 migrants initially rescued by the Sea-Watch 3 off Libya on Jun 12, Italy took in 11 vulnerable people.
“That’s enough! Whatever Strasbourg tells us, with great serenity we will maintain our position,” Salvini said.
“Imagine if a country like Italy – the second-largest industrial power in Europe – let an NGO dictate immigration rules,” he said.
On Lampedusa, where Salvini’s far-right League won 45 per cent in May’s European elections, a priest has camped in the street to demand those on board – including three minors – be allowed to disembark.
Dozens of German cities have said they are ready to welcome them, and the Bishop of Turin, Cesare Noviglia, said on Monday his diocese would be willing to take them in.
“We can’t hold on any longer. It’s like we’re in a prison because we are deprived of everything. Help us, think of us,” one migrant from the Ivory Coast said in a video broadcast by Sea-Watch.
In January, 32 migrants rescued by the vessel were stranded on board for 18 days before they were allowed to disembark in Malta thanks to a distribution deal made between several European countries.

New Delhi (Sputnik): There has been a spike in the number of terrorist incidents in Jammu and Kashmir state since 2014, with the number of reported incidents swelling from 222 in 2014 to 614 in 2018, the Government of India said on Tuesday.
Since 2016 the Indian security forces have neutralised 733 terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, with 113 of them in 2019 alone, said Minister of State for Home Affairs G. Kishan Reddy while sharing the government statistics in the ongoing Budget Session of the Indian parliament.
The statistics released by the government also revealed that 2018 witnessed the maximum number of killings in the State, when Indian forces neutralised 257 terrorists. Meanwhile, a total of 213 terrorists were killed in 2017 and 150 in the previous year.
“The government has adopted a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism. The security forces are taking effective and continuous action in countering terrorism. This has resulted in a corresponding change in the number of such incidents, including casualties,” Reddy told the Parliament.
“The security forces are also keeping a close watch on persons who attempt to provide support to terrorists and initiate action against them,” the minister added.
Among the key anti-terror operations this year in Kashmir, a crucial strike was the June 18 counter-militancy operation where the Indian forces managed to gun down a wanted terrorist, Sajjad Bhat.
Bhat was the alleged mastermind of the 14 February Pulwama suicide bombing attack claimed by Pakistan-based Jaish-e Mohammad on a convoy of Indian military personnel which killed 40 troopers.
For the past year, the state of Jammu and Kashmir is under President’s Rule after the coalition government comprising People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fell out in June 2018. The state has been ruled by a centrally-appointed Governor ever since.”

ONTARIO – ‘Meet Your Muslim Neighbour’ event to break down barriers

It was a small community event in South Walkerville with the goal of tearing down cultural barriers for those unfamiliar with Islam.
The “Meet Your Muslim Neighbour” gathering offered free books on the religion and a short documentary to offer insight into the community.
The event was held at the under-construction Bait ul Ehsaan Mosque on Saturday.
The chance to open the local Ahmadiyya Muslim community’s doors and share a bit of their religion is seen as an important way of bridging the cultural divide.
Tariq Haider says this kind of community outreach is important.
“I moved to this city about four years ago and since I moved here I’ve seen our community almost grow to double,” says Haider.
Tim Sellan came out for the gathering and supports the initiative.
“We really need to build more common understanding of people’s from an Islamic background because there’s a lot of misinformation,” says Sellan. “The people from this group are very community orientated, very peaceful orientated.”
The former St. Andrew’s Catholic Elementary school building is being converted into the community’s mosque.

Yemen: Nation’s ISIS leader captured by coalition forces
Saudi Television released a video on Tuesday revealing the capture of the head of Yemen’s Islamic State network in an undisclosed location on Monday, June 3rd.
The footage allegedly shows the ’emir’ of ISIS’ Yemen branch, Abu Osama Al Muhajer, blindfolded as he is escorted by joint Saudi and Yemeni forces after having been captured in a house raid.
Other members of the organisation, including the group’s financial operator, were also apprehended.
The operation, which took only ten minutes, also saw forces seize ammunition, weapons and telecommunication devices.

Three times — in 1972, 1989, and 1999 — American presidents rescued Chinese communism. Now, Xi Jinping’s China, plagued by problems of his own making, desperately needs a lifeline.
A trade deal with President Donald Trump looks as if it is the only thing that can revive the Chinese economy and thereby save Xi’s brand of communism. Many, in fact, are urging Trump to drop his Section 301 tariffs and sign such a pact.
Will the American president do so?
At the moment, Xi is besieged, blamed for multiple policy mistakes. First, his relentlessly pursued back-to-Mao policies have helped push the Chinese economy downward, perhaps to the point of contraction, as May’s depressing numbers suggest. Perhaps the most indicative statistic is that of imports, which during the month fell 8.5%, a clear sign of softening domestic demand.
Economists say consumption now drives the Chinese economy. Retail sales for the month, according to Beijing, increased a strong 8.6%. That figure is suspiciously high because it is based on this figure: retail sales of cars rising 2.1% year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Commerce. However. the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers reported that car sales suffered their worst monthly drop ever in May, down a stunning 16.4% from the same month a year earlier, the 11th-straight month of decline.

According to the statement, the scheme was mainly focused on building paths of illegal cash flow from abroad. This falls in line with the MB, fugitive forces, and other enemies of the state financing acts of violence and rebellions against state institutions. The ministry also announced that is has uncovered a hostile scheme dubbed “Plan of Hope,” which was organised by fugitive MB leaders in coordination with those who claim to represent civil political forces.
The ministry said that Egypt’s High State Security Prosecution will carry out investigations in the case.
An informed source told Ahram Online that the MB is trying to regain a foothold on the ground as an attempt to disrupt Egypt’s stability, as well as that of the Arab region.
The source noted that this comes with the involvement of MB members and former MP Ziad El-Aleimy, in cooperation with other civil political powers.
“The MB terrorist organisation’s finances are being used by countries that support terrorism in order to infiltrate Egypt’s economy and create a state of chaos with the cooperation of civil political forces and a current member of parliament,” the source added.”
