Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. “One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”

2 He said to them, “When you pray, say:

    “‘Father,[a]
    hallowed be your name,
    your kingdom come.[b]
3 Give us each day our daily bread.
    4 Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.[c]
And lead us not into temptation.[d]’”

    https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke+11%3A1-13&version=NIV

And then, after discourse on how long it takes to receive from asking “…how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

Oh, was that the ultimate gift? The Holy Spirit?

Well, most people don’t want the lamp, they want to rub the genie.

    • This method is to prepare yourself to be right for prayer.

      “‘Father,[a]
      hallowed be your name,”

You are not God. You are not judge, jury and executioner. Leave Pride outside.

      “your kingdom come.[b]”

Not the World’s Kingdoms of ‘Loving State’ or ‘True Religion.’ The inner kingdom.

“3 Give us each day our daily bread.”

Accept each day your allotted reward. Let not your plans overtake you.

      “4 Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.[c]”

As you judge you will be judged in equal measure.

“And lead us not into temptation.[d]’””

That the mob do not surround you offering you “free stuff” and easy-access to virgins on Earth and in Heaven. These outraged who demand you submit.

Then you are ready to pray – because you are ready to listen.

      • To live coram Deo is to live one’s entire life in the presence of God, under the authority of God, to the glory of God.

        To wit:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’[a] 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] There is no commandment greater than these.””

But if you should commercialize this in any shape or form, to promote The Great One or The Great People, then may your cheaply submitted souls – given into the hands of others for promises of salvation or reward – have no contact with children, of those who already see the kingdom of god; and it isn’t in you.

  2. US Army Rangers just scaled towering seaside cliffs to re-enact one of D-Day’s most dangerous missions

    Gobsmacking!

From every indication, this was reenacted (all save the hand grenade hailstorm) with period-authentic, standard issue gear. Three cheers for the soldiers who volunteered for this risky assignment. Not only was it most assuredly all-volunteer, but it was likely over-subscribed as well. Richard should be able to verify the GI gear’s authenticity. I know that my earliest camping and packing involved the exact same equipment shown.

I cannot think of a finer way to honor D-Day veterans than to have the flower of today’s youth put their own lives at hazard to show respect for those who went “over the top” in the horrific World Wars. It’s equally assured that the maximum possible number of vets from the Normandy Invasion were present at this event.

Huzzah for this ebullient display of traditional Yankee grit. Things like this and the incredibly tasteful National World War II Memorial in DC keep my hope alive that there’s a few people around who still honor and respect the ultimate sacrifices of so many who have gone before us.

Whenever I get back from being overseas, before entering the house, I kneel down and French kiss my doormat. I love this country so much.

    • Thank You.
Every school and college should make it mandatory to show documentaries about the brave men of that era. Maybe we would have fewer socialists and Antifas among our midst.
I keep thinking they did it to preserve our freedoms and looking at today, the same freedoms are being taken from us.
      A terrible tragedy.
That’s why we must fight back and hard.

      • Thank You.

You are so very welcome, Sassy. I grew up sufficiently close to the outgoing cusp of WWII, to have seen countless Movietone newsreels. Having lugged around army rucksacks and entrenching tools on my earliest backpacking trips gave me a permanent appreciation for welded-aluminum frame Kelty packs.

Whenever I think of the insanely crappy equipment that GIs were burdened with in the World Wars, it just steels my resolve to see more military spending until soldiers and vets are all farting through silk.

When America’s warriors take the field, all I want to hear next is our enemies dropping their weapons and running away in pants-wetting terror, crying like little girls.

  3. “Islamophobes”, my ass: a Tunisian responsible for attack on mosque in Dresden, Germany+++
Those who were already in anticipation of whether Islamophobes, racists and right-wing extremists were at work here again, were suddenly disappointed yesterday: a 30-year-old Tunisian asylum seeker was responsible for the attack on a mosque in Dresden’s Cotta district the day before yesterday. The man had thrown stones at a deserted mosque at that time. Several windows were broken. Shortly after the crime, he moved on foot to the street Alte Meißene Landstraße and also threw several stones at a kebab snack bar there. As the Saxon State Criminal Police Office announced yesterday, the police were able to identify and arrest the suspect on the basis of the personal descriptions of witnesses and photographic material. He is accused of disturbing the practice of religion and damaging property. The man currently lives in a Dresden asylum-seekers’ accommodation. According to the Police Terrorism and Extremism Defense Centre (PTAZ), which is included in the investigations, a political background has so far been ruled out.The mosque concerned in Dresden district Cotta had already hit the headlines two years ago because of an explosive attack. However, there is no connection to the current case.As the newspaper “Dresdner Neuesten Nachrichten” reports, “…the identity of the 30-year-old, the documents he was carrying with him and his current residence status” are also the subject of the investigation, which suggests the suspicion that the Tunisian perpetrator of Wednesday obviously tricked the authorities with regard to his residence and asylum status. Unfortunately, the case should not be suitable for the prevalence of alleged Islamophobic attacks in crime statistics, which is often highlighted.

  4. Yemeni Forces Claim Control of 20 Positions in Saudi Arabia (tasnimnews, video, Jun 6, 2019)
    https://www.tasnimnews.com/en/news/2019/06/06/2026484/yemeni-forces-claim-control-of-20-positions-in-saudi-arabia

“Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree said that the country’s forces took control over more than 20 positions in a push in Saudi Arabia’s Najran province, inflicting heavy losses to kingdom’s forces.

Speaking to Saba news agency on Wednesday, Yahya Sarei said the military sites in southwestern Saudi province of Najran were seized in a “surprise” offensive underway over the past three days.

The spokesman said that more than 200 personnel affiliated with the Saudi-UAE-led military coalition had been killed or wounded, while many others were captured along with large quantities of military equipment.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Yemeni Al-Masirah television channel reported that the country’s fighters had launched multiple attacks on several Saudi military positions in Najran, which is located adjacent to the Yemeni border.

Some video footage of the operation was released on Thursday.

Leading a coalition of its allies, Saudi Arabia invaded Yemen in March 2015 in an attempt to reinstall fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, who had resigned amid popular discontent and fled to Riyadh, and to crush the Houthi Ansarullah movement, which has been significantly helping the Yemeni army against the coalition for the past four years.

The imposed war initially consisted of an aerial campaign, but was later coupled with a naval blockade and the deployment of ground mercenaries to Yemen. Furthermore, armed militia forces loyal to Hadi, in line with invaders, launch frequent attacks against Yemeni people in regions held by Houthis.

The aggression is estimated to have left 56,000 Yemenis dead.

The Saudi-led war has also taken a heavy toll on the country’s infrastructure, destroying hospitals, schools, and factories. The UN has said that a record 22.2 million Yemenis are in dire need of food, including 8.4 million threatened by severe hunger. According to the world body, Yemen is suffering from the most severe famine in more than 100 years.

A number of Western countries, the US, France, and Britain in particular, are also accused of being complicit in the ongoing aggression as they supply the Riyadh regime with advanced weapons and military equipment as well as logistical and intelligence assistance.”

  5. Major Blast Rocks Apartment Block in Swedish City, Locals Describe Horror as ‘War Zone’ (PHOTO) (sputniknews, Jun 7, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201906071075712556-explosion-apartment-building-sweden-linkoping/

“About 20 ambulances have been alerted to the site of a major explosion in the area of an apartment block. The police suspect a “crime”, but at the moment cannot rule out an accident.

A strong explosion has rocked an apartment block in the Swedish city of Linköping, the newspaper Aftonbladet reported.

The explosion occurred about 9 o’clock in the morning local time. About 20 ambulances have been summonned to the site of explosion in an apartment area at Hamngatan.

“We started to get a large number of calls from people about a heavy explosion in central Linköping, on Hamngatan. Windows have been blown away, and we are in place to secure the site. We have blocked the area and are working on getting a picture of exactly what has happened”, Björn Öberg of the Linköping police told Aftonbladet.

The windows and the balconies in a five-storey house were blown off by the explosion.

“I would describe it as a limited war zone”, Swedish Radio reporter Rosmari Karlsson said.

Police press officer Åsa Willsund said that at the moment there was no clear picture of what caused the blast, but that an investigation into “general dangerous destruction” has been opened.

“The way the situation is now, we suspect that this has happened through a crime, but we also cannot rule out that it is an accident that caused this, so a technical investigation on the spot will show”, Willsund said.

Despite the vast damage to the house itself and the surrounding buildings, the police only reported minor personal injuries. So far, 19 victims have been taken to hospital with minor injuries.

“I was standing in the shower when I noticed that the whole house was shaking. It rumbled like thunder”, witness Pontus Johansson, living in the house across the street, told the newspaper.

85-year-old Gösta Sundin, who lives on the ground floor of the house, said that he heard a huge blast at 9 o’clock.

“The whole house shook”, he told Aftonbladet.

80-year-old Hillevi Ljunggren, who has lived in the house with her husband for 30 years, is currently on holiday but was called by her son who told her that the explosion was heard about seven kilometres away, “Oh, how awful”, Ljunggren reacted…”

  6. ‘Most at Home’: Somalis Prouder of Sweden Than Swedes – Survey (sputnniknews, Jun 7, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201906071075714151-sweden-pride-somalis/

“Researchers have explained immigrants’ swelling pride in their new home country with elevated living standards and longer life expectancy.

A majority of immigrants from overseas countries are very proud to be Swedish, scoring even higher than the country’s overall population, a new report published in conjuction with Sweden’s National Day has shown. Incidentally, immigrants also are more enthusiastic about Sweden’s National Day.

In the global research project World Values Survey (WVS), which interviewed 6,516 people from overseas countries living in Sweden, wholly 53 percent said they were “very proud” of being Swedish, while 57 percent said they felt “at home in Sweden”. Perhaps somewhat surprisingly, immigrants from Somalia, Eritrea, and Afghanistan appeared to have a greater pride in Sweden than the Swedes themselves.

“Those who are the proudest and feel most at home are Somali women. The same goes for Eritreans”, Bi Puranen at the Institute for Future Studies, the secretary general of the World Values Survey told the newspaper Svenska Dagbladet. “They and those who cannot read or write feel most at home in Sweden”, she added.

Puranen attributed this spike in Swedish patriotism among immigrants to integration going deeper than ever before. According to Puranen, this group’s life expectancy in Sweden is likely to increase by 10-15 years, which explains some of its satisfaction.

While feeling an affinity with both their country of origin and Sweden, immigrants have a divergent view on a number of issues, compared with the majority population, such as tolerance for homosexuals, sex before marriage, abortion, and prostitution. Many also argue that gender equality and women’s rights have gone foo far in Sweden.

In a similar survey conducted by the very same WVS between 2010 and 2014, only 39.7 percent of the population as a whole, which is majority Swedish, said they were very proud of Sweden. This level of pride has remained relatively stable for the past two decades and is not expected to change any time soon.

The survey has stirred strong reactions among the Swedish public.

“We pay our taxes, work ourselves to death, welfare is being eroded and Sweden is starting to look like the Middle East! Immigrants from overseas countries get everything served on a gold platter at the expense of us, our elderly, our sick, our children! No wonder they are happy and glad!” a lady who goes by the nickname “Religion scholar” tweeted bitterly.

“Are we allowed to be proud at all or are we then violating some other culture? No wonder it’s like that”, a user mused.

“What Swede would publicly proclaim that they are proud of Sweden? They’ll get a racist stamp immediately”, another one chimed in.

“Well, we are being indoctrinated that nationalism is something ugly, while the rest of the world clearly doesn’t think so”, yet another user tweeted, suggesting that Sweden was “an extreme country”.

“Cheers, Sweden”, a user named The Swedish Paleocon tweeted, posting a photograph of a black man in a traditional Swedish female dress.

?Until the post-WII era, immigration to Sweden was mostly limited to Finns. Having started accepting foreign guest workers in the 1960s, Sweden has opened up for mass immigration in the subsequent decades, peaking at 163,000 asylum seekers in 2015 alone. Today, the share of immigrants and their descendants is estimated at about a quarter of Sweden’s population of 10 million.

The Somali diaspora has swelled since the 1990s, as refugees from the Somali Civil War started to arrive in Sweden. Today, the Somali diaspora is estimated at over 60,000, with over half of them retaining their Somali citizenship as well. The Stockholm suburb of Rinkeby has been colloquially nicknamed “Little Mogadishu” for the vast Somali presence.”

  7. Norwegian Exhibition Gives In to Muslims’ Pressure, Removes ‘Bold’ Image (sputniknews, Jun 7, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201906071075707879-norwegian-exhibition-muslim-protests/

“The picture in question reportedly used symbolic expressions for several religions, such as Hinduism, Christianity, Judaism, and Islam.

A “bold” image exhibited at the Oslo Adult School in Helsfyr has sparked protests from local Muslims and has been removed, the news outlet Resett reported.

The exhibition was arranged by the school’s students and consisted of paintings, drawings, and photographs. According to a local tutor, one particular picture, made by a Lebanese refugee, sparked vociferous protests from the school’s numerous Muslims. According to the tutor, up to 40 people voiced their outrage.

Rector Torunn Thomassen finally submitted to the pressure from the Muslims; the picture was removed and put up in her office instead. According to Resett’s source, many have reacted negatively to the decision in retrospect.

Rector Thomassen confirmed this decision. According to her, the picture in question made a group of students feel “deeply offended”.

“One of the pictures in the exhibition roused great resentment among a large group of our participants. They felt deeply offended by the picture”, Thomassen explained to Resett. The school’s management chose to remove the picture from the exhibition in the learning centre after deliberations with the student council, she said, admitting that it “wasn’t an easy decision”.

The picture in question reportedly used symbolic expressions for several religions.

“In the picture, the artist used characters and symbols that can refer to Hinduism, Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. The artist has also used other means that can direct thoughts toward power and capitalism”, Thomassen explained.

According to Thomassen, art should encourage adult students to think critically, which she called a “prerequisite for democracy”.

However, the school’s handling of the protests has sparked strong reactions from some Norwegians, who thought it was sacrificing freedom of expression.

“Yet another genuflection (no matter what the principal claims) for our new compatriots. Makes me angry!” a user wrote on Facebook.

Another ventured it was “total submission”, while yet another suggested the school leadership acted “spinelessly”.

Oslo Adult School in Helsfyr has approximately 2,000 students, many with immigrant background, and is known for arranging art exhibitions. By the rector’s own admission, a strong emphasis is put on critical thinking and understanding democracy.”

  8. Failure to find a sexual partner is now a DISABILITY says World Health Organisation (express, Jun 7, 2019)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/723323/Sexual-partner-fertility-disability-World-Health-Organisation-IVF

“PEOPLE who don’t have sex or struggle to find a sexual partner to have children with will now be considered as DISABLED, according to barmy new guidelines set to be announced.

Until now, infertility – the failure to achieve pregnancy after 12 months or more of regular unprotected sex – was not considered a disability.

But now in dramatic move the World Health Organisation will change the standard to suggest that a person who is unable to find a suitable sexual partner or is lacking a sexual relationship to have children – will now be equally classified as disabled.

WHO says the change will give every individual “the right to reproduce”.

Under the new rules, heterosexual single men and women and gay men and women who want to have children will now be given the same priority as a couple seeking IVF because of medical fertility problems.

But critics branded the new laws as “absurd nonsense” arguing that the organisation has overstepped the mark by moving into social matters rather than health.

Gareth Johnson MP, former chair of the All Parliamentary Group on Infertility, whose own children were born thanks to fertility treatment, said: “I’m in general a supporter of IVF. But I’ve never regarded infertility as a disability or a disease but rather a medical matter.

“I’m the first to say you should have more availability of IVF to infertile couples but we need to ensure this whole subject retains credibility.

“This definition runs the risk of undermining the work Nice and others have done to ensure IVF treatment is made available for infertile couples when you get definitions off the mark like this. I think it’s trying to put IVF into a box that it doesn’t fit into frankly.”

Josephine Quintavalle, from Comment on Reproductive Ethics added: “This absurd nonsense is not simply re-defining infertility but completely side-lining the biological process and significance of natural intercourse between a man and a woman.

“How long before babies are created and grown on request completely in the lab?”

But Dr David Adamson, an author of the new standards, argued it is a “big chance” for single and gay people.

He said: “The definition of infertility is now written in such a way that it includes the rights of all individuals to have a family, and that includes single men, single women, gay men, gay women.

“It puts a stake in the ground and says an individual’s got a right to reproduce whether or not they have a partner. It’s a big change.

“It fundamentally alters who should be included in this group and who should have access to healthcare. It sets an international legal standard. Countries are bound by it.”

A spokesman for the Department of Health said the NHS was under no obligation to follow World Health Organisation’s final advice.

Under the Equality Act 2010 a person is disabled if they have a physical or mental impairment that has a ‘substantial’ and ‘long-term’ negative effect on their ability to do normal daily activities.

But Libby Purves, presenter of Radio 4’s Midweek, was scathing about the new recommendation.

She said: “When a flaky new human right is suddenly tossed out by a serious UN agency it is not just silly but dangerous.

“The World Health Organisation, which has plenty else on its plate, has long defined infertility as a disability.

“It is sad but not disabled compared to someone who is blind, deaf, mentally impaired, or seriously crippled.””

    • I recall having read a La Leche piece that suggested counting nursing moms as a national asset within the GDP. It’s possible that economic statistics can be built to incorporate the non-wage services and goods families provide. Doesn’t it seem that governments have a need to monetize labor in order to tax income? A wage-earner paying for childcare increases tax revenue; a family busy buying an Egg McMuffin provides tax revenue more so than a family with a few hens and a rolling pin.

      • Correction: a ^busy family^ buying meals after work. Ditto on a family earning enough funds to pay fees for entrance exams and prep. By making resources more scarce, the gov’t can increase its revenue.

  9. Tunisian Migrant in Court over ‘Ricin Attack Plot’ Against ‘Unbelievers’ (breitbart, Jun 7, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/middle-east/2019/06/07/tunisian-migrant-in-court-over-ricin-attack-plot-against-unbelievers/

“A Tunisian migrant will join his German wife to face charges Friday of planning a foiled biological bomb attack in Germany with the deadly poison ricin.

Sief Allah H., 30, and his Muslim convert wife Yasmin, 43, were arrested last year by an anti-terrorist squad that found 84 milligrams of the toxin in their Cologne apartment.

The arrests likely prevented what would have been Germany’s first biological attack, said Holger Muench, head of the BKA Federal Criminal Police Office, at the time.

As Breitbart News reported, the male suspect allegedly “wanted to explode a ricin bomb packed with shrapnel in a busy indoor place” targeting “unbelievers”, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office said, in what is believed to be Germany’s first biological weapons terror plot.

The suspect was charged with possession of weapons of war, “planning a serious act of violence against the state”, and of membership with a terrorist organisation, according to Deutsche Welle.

Federal prosecutors said the couple had “for a long time identified with the aims and values of the foreign terrorist organisation Islamic State”.

They decided in 2017 to detonate an explosive in a large crowd, “to kill and wound the largest possible number of people,” said prosecutors ahead of the trial in Duesseldorf.

The pair had allegedly researched various forms of explosives before deciding on the deadly poison. The couple, who have four children, bought a hamster to test the strength of the poison, according to prosecutors.

Sief Allah H., a former street vendor and labourer in Tunisia, in 2015 married Yasmin H., an unemployed doctor’s assistant and mother of seven children from four different fathers.

The husband had been in contact with radical Islamists and tried twice in 2017 to travel to Syria via Turkey. His wife helped him with flight and hotel bookings, but both trips failed.

Sief Allah H. also volunteered to help Islamic State terrorists in their propaganda work, and did so in early 2018 by publishing material of the jihadist group online, said prosecutors.

Later, the couple decided to prepare an attack in Germany itself.

“Very concrete preparations had been made for an act with a … biological bomb, which is a first for Germany,” the Federal Prosecutor’s Office said.

If convicted of the charges of serious violence endangering the country, the defendants could each face up to 15 years in jail.

Two other co-conspirators were also arrested in August last year in Tunisia in connection with the case. According to German newspaper Die Welt, it was the U.S. CIA that tipped off German intelligence about the migrant’s plan which resulted in the raid and arrests.

The trial is expected to last until the end of August.”

    • This is quite a story.
Woman has 7 kids by 4 fathers. Joins the death cult and marries a jihadi 13 years her junior.
Cooking up poison at home (surrounded by kids?), they plan a mass casualty attack.

  13. Man killed in fight over water in India amid deadly dust storm

Chennai (India) (AFP) – A 33-year-old man died after a fight over water in southern India, police said Friday, as the country gasped from extreme heat and storms that killed 24 in the north.

The argument broke out on Wednesday when a 48-year-old man and his three sons were allegedly syphoning large quantities of water from a public tank near Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu state.

A local man, named as D. Anand Babu, confronted them and violence broke out, police said. Babu was taken to hospital and died the next day. His father was also injured in the altercation.

Vast swathes of India have been sweltering a heatwave in recent days with temperatures nearing 50 degrees Celsius (122 Fahrenheit) in northern states like Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

Large areas have also been hit by drought, leaving millions dependent on water trucks and adding to the misery of farmers in states such as Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Karnataka.

  15. Greece: Athens mosque likely to open in September (abcnews, Jun 7, 2019)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/greece-athens-mosque-open-september-63553791

“Greece’s education and religion minister says the country’s long-delayed first state-sponsored mosque is likely to begin operating in September, about three years after its construction was approved by parliament.

Kostas Gavroglou spoke Friday during a visit to the nearly complete mosque on the outskirts of Athens’ city center, accompanied by representatives of the Muslim community. Its construction has been controversial, with some opposing a mosque in the Greek capital.

“It is particularly good that soon there will be the first prayer from the imam of the Athens mosque. We hope this will happen in September at the latest,” Gavroglou said.

The mosque, approved by lawmakers in August 2016 and built in a mainly industrial area of the capital, will provide an official place of worship for the country’s Muslim immigrant community and for visitors. Tens of thousands of Muslim migrants live in the greater Athens area, and have been using informal prayer rooms in basements and disused stores.

Gavroglou noted the Athens mosque, unlike most in Europe, was a public and not a privately-owned place of worship.

“It doesn’t belong to anyone, because it belongs to all of us and all of you,” he said. “Here, the owner is not an individual, nor a community, nor a society nor a foreign country.”

The near completion of the project has been greeted with relief by members of the capital’s Muslim community.

“I would like to start by thanking Allah that we finally have a mosque where we can pray, we can gather, we can talk about out matters,” said Zaki Mohamed, the mosque’s imam.

Ashir Haidar, a representative of the Shia Muslim community of Greece, described the upcoming opening as “a dream come true.”

“It is a great gift from the Greek state to the Muslim community of Athens and it is a symbolic work that shows respect of the Greek state to the religion of Islam,” he said.

Having to use informal prayer rooms dotted around the Greek capital often led to problems, with local residents sometimes objecting to some practices, said Alishba Zahra Rizvi, a 19-year-old from Pakistan who has been living in Greece for the past four years and came to view the new facility. “But here it’s official, so we can do everything here, we can celebrate our festivals and everything.””

  16. Police: 2 ex-cops among 4 rebels killed in Kashmir fighting (abcnews, Jun 7, 2019)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/police-cops-rebels-killed-kashmir-fighting-63551547

“Four militants were killed in a gunbattle with government forces in Indian-controlled Kashmir, including two counterinsurgency police officers who defected to fight with rebels in the disputed region, police said Friday.

The fighting erupted late Thursday after police and soldiers cordoned off a village in southern Pulwama area on a tip that militants were hiding there. Residents said troops blasted a civilian home with explosives during the firefight, which continued into Friday morning.

The two policemen were missing since Thursday morning, when they did not report to work after the Muslim holiday Eid al-Fitr, closing the fasting month of Ramadan. Police said the two had deserted with their rifles and joined the rebels.

As the news of the counterinsurgency operations spread, protests and clashes broke out with hundreds of people trying to get closer to the site of the fighting and save the trapped militants.

Government forces fired shotguns and tear gas to stop the stone-throwing protesters. No one was immediately reported injured in the clashes.

In recent years the National Park Service prominently featured brochures, signs and films which boldly proclaimed that all glaciers at GNP were melting away rapidly. But now officials at GNP seem to be scrambling to hide or replace their previous hysterical claims while avoiding any notice to the public that the claims were inaccurate. Teams from Lysander Spooner University visiting the Park each September have noted that GNP’s most famous glaciers such as the Grinnell Glacier and the Jackson Glacier appear to have been growing—not shrinking—since about 2010. (The Jackson Glacier—easily seen from the Going-To-The-Sun Highway—may have grown as much as 25% or more over the past decade.)

According to the Metropolitan Police, the two women, who are in their 20s, were attacked in the early hours of May 30 after they boarded a bus in West Hampstead.

In a Facebook post Wednesday, Melania Geymonat said she and her girlfriend Chris boarded a double decker bus and sat on the upper level together. She said they must have “kissed or something” because a group of four men approached them soon after.

“They started behaving like hooligans, demanding that we kissed so they could enjoy watching, calling us ‘lesbians’ and describing sexual positions,” she wrote.

  22. Boris Johnson today won a High Court challenge against a court summons over claims he made during the referendum campaign that the EU receives £350million a week from the UK.

The former Foreign Secretary’s legal team challenged the summons for him to attend Westminster Magistrates’ Court as they blocked a controversial private prosecution by campaigner Marcus Ball.

Mr Ball, a Remainer, had been trying to prosecute the Conservative leadership for three allegations of misconduct in a public office. But he will now not face court after two High Court judges took barely five minutes to quash the case.

His lawyers said District Judge Margot Coleman ‘erred in law’ by issuing the summons and argued the attempt to prosecute him was the culmination of a ‘politically-driven process’.

  23. In a key finding of the Mueller report, Ukrainian businessman Konstantin Kilimnik, who worked for Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, is tied to Russian intelligence.

But hundreds of pages of government documents — which special counsel Robert Mueller possessed since 2018 — describe Kilimnik as a “sensitive” intelligence source for the U.S. State Department who informed on Ukrainian and Russian matters.

Why Mueller’s team omitted that part of the Kilimnik narrative from its report and related court filings is not known. But the revelation of it comes as the accuracy of Mueller’s Russia conclusions face increased scrutiny.

The incomplete portrayal of Kilimnik is so important to Mueller’s overall narrative that it is raised in the opening of his report. “The FBI assesses” Kilimnik “to have ties to Russian intelligence,” Mueller’s team wrote on Page 6, putting a sinister light on every contact Kilimnik had with Manafort, the former Trump campaign chairman.

What it doesn’t state is that Kilimnik was a “sensitive” intelligence source for State going back to at least 2013 while he was still working for Manafort, according to FBI and State Department memos I reviewed.

Kilimnik was not just any run-of-the-mill source, either.

  24. DOJ Releases Flynn FBI Interview Report (FD-302) by Joe Pientka and Peter Strzok…
Posted on June 6, 2019 by sundance
The DOJ has released the FBI agent report (FD-302) written after their interview of Michael Flynn on Jan 24th, 2017. (Full pdf below) From prior testimony we know that FBI Agent Peter Strzok did the questioning and FBI Agent Joe Pientka took notes.

However, for some reason, within the DOJ release of the report they are continuing to redact the name Joe Pientka. [Could be due to ongoing employment]

It’s worth noting according to Mark Meadows the Office of Inspector General Michael Horowitz has interviewed Joe Pientka extensively; prior attempts by congress to gain testimony from Pientka were blocked by the FBI and Rod Rosenstein.

FBI Agent Joseph Pientka was never interviewed by the joint House judiciary and oversight committees (Goodlatte and Gowdy). The reason, as explained by Meadows, was simple; Pientka was on Weissmann and Mueller’s special counsel team. Congress was not allowed to interfere in the Mueller probe. In hindsight this looks like Weissmann, Mueller & Rosenstein strategically using the investigation as a shield from sunlight.

The interview took place on January 24, 2017. The report was written Jan 24th, 2017. The wording was then deliberated by the small group, approved by FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, and entered into the record on February 15th, 2017. Here’s the report:

  26. Ilhan Omar Hit With State Campaign Finance Violations (breitbart, Jun 7, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/06/06/ilhan-omar-hit-with-campaign-finance-violations-and-more-questions/

“Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) was found by the Minnesota Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board on Thursday to have committed several campaign finance violations — and its findings have revived old questions about the legality of her marriage.

In July 2018, Minnesota State Rep. Steve Drazkowski (R-Mazeppa) filed a complaint with the board against the Neighbors for Ilhan (Omar) campaign committee, which had supported her campaign for state representative. He claimed that she had improperly spent campaign funds on legal work related to her divorce. He later filed additional complaints that she had improperly spent campaign funds on out-of-state travel.

The board’s investigation into Omar found several violations. It noted that while none of Omar’s legal expenses had been for her divorce, she had spent $1,500 on legal expenses related to her personal taxes that were not sufficiently related to the campaign. Furthermore, the board found that some of her out-of-state travel expenses were not related to her legislative duties. She has been ordered to pay reimbursements to her campaign, to file amended campaign finance statements, and to pay a civil fine of $500 to the state.

The board’s report also noted that Omar and Ahmed Hirsi, her current husband, “filed joint tax returns for 2014 and 2015.” That could add fuel to persistent allegations that Omar had been married to two men at the same time — one of whom, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, City Journal noted in 2016, was rumored (though never proven) to be her brother.

City Journal, the Powerline blog, and PJ Media’s David Steinberg, among others, continued to investigate the story.

Omar issued a statement in 2016 denying the allegations:

In 2002, when I was 19 years old, Ahmed Hirsi (whose name before he received citizenship was Ahmed Aden), the father of my children and love of my life, and I, applied for a marriage license, but we never finalized the application and thus were never legally married. In 2008, we decided to end our relationship in our faith tradition after reaching an impasse in our life together.

I entered into a relationship with a British citizen, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, and married him legally in 2009. Our relationship ended in 2011 and we divorced in our faith tradition. After that, he moved home to England. I have yet to legally divorce Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, but am in the process of doing so. Insinuations that Ahmed Nur Said Elmi is my brother are absurd and offensive.

Since 2011, I am happy to say that I have reconciled with Ahmed Hirsi, we have married in our faith tradition and are raising our family together.

The rumors persisted into the 2018 election, when Omar was elected to Congress. She told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that the stories had been written by “fake journalists on bigoted blogs.”

The campaign finance board’s report notes that Omar filed joint tax returns with Hirsi. But by her own admission in 2016, she was not yet legally divorced from Elmi. There is no legal basis for a joint filing by an unmarried couple.

In a statement, Drozkowski noted that the campaign finance board’s findings had found Omar violated campaign finance law and noted that the report “raises even more troubling questions.”

Update: Rep. Omar responded to the report in a statement quoted by the Minneapolis Star Tribune:

Omar said in a prepared statement that she would comply with the findings.

“I’m glad this process is complete and that the Campaign Finance Board has come to a resolution on this matter,” Omar said. “We have been collaborative in this process and are glad the report showed that none of the money was used for personal use, as was initially alleged.”

While Omar’s statement suggests “none of the money was used for personal use,” the report says that “there was some personal benefit to Rep. Omar from the [legal] services” related to her tax returns.”

    • In every state that I know of, clergy who perform faith tradition marriages are legally obligated to report them to civil authorities. It’s possible to pick a dishonest clergyman who does not report the marriage. But that says something about one’s own honesty. She needs to rectify this situation. Civil marriage laws protect all Americans and are a basis for healthcare planning and assuring financial responsibilty to our children.

  27. Dems in D.C. push for prison voting rights

    UPDATED 6:17 AM PT — Friday, June 7, 2019

The country’s capital might join nearby states in granting prisoners the right to vote. Earlier this week, Democrats in Washington, D.C. introduced a bill which would enfranchise those who are serving time.

According to reports, D.C. currently allows prisoners awaiting a trial and those imprisoned for minor offenses to vote with absentee ballots.

City officials have not clarified if the measure will allow violent criminals to vote from prison, though many argue even those convicted of non-violent crimes should not be given voting rights.

“What are you going to do about somebody who commits election fraud or voter fraud?” asked Hans von Spakovsky, senior legal fellow for the Heritage Foundation. “That’s non-violent, should they have the right to vote?”

  30. Ilhan Omar dinged for campaign finance violations, ordered to personally repay campaign thousands
By Daily Caller News Foundation June 6, 2019

Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar improperly spent thousands of dollars in campaign funds on non-campaign expenses in 2016 and 2017 while serving in the state legislature, Minnesota’s campaign finance and public disclosure board ruled Thursday.

The state board ordered Omar to personally reimburse her campaign for just under $3,500 the campaign spent on out-of-state travel for Omar and on her joint tax returns.

Omar is also required to pay a civil penalty of $500 for using campaign funds to pay for her travel to a conference in Florida, where she received an honorarium for speaking.

  31. Ultimatum: British Non-Muslim Prison Inmates Forced to Convert to Islam or Get ‘Beaten’ – Report (sputniknews, Jun 7, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201906071075724722-non-muslim-forced-covert-prison/

“The latest report by the UK government only serves to underscore widely held concerns about the nature and sophistication of Muslim extremest gangs operating in the British prison system.

Fanatical Muslim gangs in English prisons are forcing an ultimatum upon their fellow inmates: covert to Islam or face violence, a government report has cautioned.

The groups, which are often led by individuals who are serving time in prison for terrorism offences, are recruiting violent inmates as “foot soldiers,” according to the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) report entitled, ‘Exploring the nature of Muslim groups and related gang activity in 3 high security prisons.’

The report quotes a non-Muslim inmate at an undisclosed prison as saying, “there is an underlying pressure for people to convert and join the gang. Their tactic is to befriend someone when they come in. If they don’t convert, they will then start spreading rumours about them, that the person is a snitch, so that they will be ostracised. Then the beatings follow.”

“There were reports of some extreme violence being enacted on those who were reluctant to convert,” the report adds.

The report’s authors interviewed 83 randomly-selected adult prisoners found on the main wings and 73 members of staff from across the three institutions. Allegedly, the gang leaders more often than not tend to be Muslim by birth, and often speak Arabic along with having a greater understanding of Islamic doctrine than the ordinary gang members. However, despite that apparently pious image, one inmate told the researchers that, “people who’re leading them [the gangs] aren’t intelligent. They read the Quran and make it fit with their life and their own beliefs. They don’t fit their life around the religion.”

The briefing paints a rather disturbing picture of a well-oiled and orchestrated campaign by the gangs, rather than isolated incidents of random violence. Typically, the groups will have their own hierarchy of leadership, in which there will be “recruiters,” “foot soldiers” as well as standard rank and file members.

“Those who had committed terrorist crimes often held more senior roles in the gang, facilitated by the respect some younger prisoners gave them. While recruitment was relatively indiscriminate, street gang members were particularly targeted for their propensity for violence,” the report says.

Indeed, the findings conclude that street gang members in prisons often join the extreme Muslim groups because it offers them with the opportunity to continue with familiar behavioural traits, such as “violence, bullying and intimidation.”

“A lot of it is about furthering their own interests. They want to have power and more influence. They are less bothered about the [extremist] cause and more about furthering their own criminality and violent aims,” said a prison staff member, who remained anonymous in the study.

The research found that most of the converts have “little knowledge of Islam and little interest in adhering to the religious practices” and are largely driven by an “anti-establishment agenda.”

The report has ugly echoes of previous warnings that the British prison system is becoming a hotbed for recruitment to Islamic extremist groups. Such concerns – which have been sounded for years – include a BBC investigation from 2010 which found that Muslim groups were enforcing Sharia law on some UK prison wings. Moreover, in 2015, a report by the Prison Officers Association found that an increasing number of non-Muslim prison inmate were being forced to pay ‘Jizya,’ or “protection tax” to gangs until and unless they converted to Islam.

Reports go as far back as 2008, when a confidential internal report from Whitemoor maximum security prison in Cambridge was leaked to the media, which exposed anxieties among staff that a “serious incident is imminent” as several wings came under the control of extremest Muslim prison gangs.

Despite the pervasive concerns, back in 2018, and to the shock and dismay of many, the MoJ blocked plans for an academic study into the reasons why prison inmate covert to Islam, and how this can lead on to radicalisation. While it is not entirely clear why the MoJ prevented the study from going ahead, many suspected at the time that it was due to pressure from outside activist groups who were accusing the study – before it had even been conducted – of “Islamophobia” and “racism.””

    • In the prisons identified, every single guard knows it, goes along with it. Their bosses let them know how to respond.

The prison chiefs and solicitors know institutions where the risk is greater; others less “enriched” might be safer. Do they care?

Tommy’s experience told us all we need to know. The system is ROTTEN. The UK is damning itself as it inflicts this profound injustice on the truly vulnerable wards of the State.

RT- UK: Video emerges showing Assange in Belmarsh prison *EXCLUSIVE*

Exclusive footage showing WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in London’s high security Belmarsh prison has been obtained by Ruptly. It was filmed on a device by a fellow inmate who describes himself as a supporter of the whistleblower.

The video shows Julian Assange having a conversation with another inmate. It also shows the whistleblower inside a cell, which contains a bed with a thin blue mattress, as well as other images of the prison’s interior. Ruptly could not independently verify whether the images were of Assange’s cell.

The footage appears to have been filmed before Assange was reportedly moved to the prison’s medical ward last week after his health deteriorated. WikiLeaks said that he lost weight dramatically and was incapable of even holding a conversation.

Although the timestamp on the video says ‘2017,’ Ruptly believes this discrepancy to be due to a faulty setting on the recording device and that the video was shot inside Belmarsh prison, where Assange arrived in April 2019.

Ruptly has not been able to verify if Assange is aware of the existence of the footage.

Stills images of the video have already been published by a number of outlets.

Assange has been serving a 50-week sentence for breaching bail in 2012. He is facing an extradition request from the US on charges of violating the US Espionage Act by publishing classified military and diplomatic documents in 2010.

  33. BOSNIA – Fight breaks out in Bosnian migrant reception center

Less than a week after a fire broke out in the Miral migrant reception center, the center is back in the news. A fight broke out among about 100 migrants and resulted in injuries.
The fight broke out on Tuesday night at the center, which is located in Velika Kladusa in northwest Bosnia near the border with Croatia, media reports said.

When police intervened, they were reportedly targeted by migrants throwing rocks, bottles, and metal bars, and three officers were injured.

The total number of injured migrants is unknown, but the injuries themselves were reportedly slight.

Authorities said the order was restored at the center around sunrise.

Police arrested 20 migrants who were identified as having instigated the fight. The migrants are from Morocco, Pakistan, and Algeria, among other countries.

Dozens wounded in fire last Saturday

Last week, a fire broke out in the early hours of Saturday morning at the same Bosnian migrant reception center where the fight happened.

Local media said 32 people were injured. Most of the injured were taken to hospital in Bihac, a town just south of the centre at the border with Croatia, which also has its own migrant reception centre.

The fire was reportedly caused by an electric hob used by the migrants. Migrants fled the centre en masse to escape the flames, with many jumping out windows. This is why many of them, in addition to burns and respiratory problems, had fractures in various parts of their bodies. The fire destroyed an entire wing of the centre, with about 250 beds. The centre in Velika Kladusa currently hosts 670 migrants.

Many migrants trying to make it to Western Europe travel through Bosnia, which shares a border with Croatia. While Bosnia is not a member of the European Union, Croatia is. About 6,000 people have entered Bosnia and Herzegovina since the start of the year, according to the country’s security agencies.

Serious question about a Flynn set-up, after Thursday’s Flynn/Manafort two-fer in the collapsing Spygate edifice
    By J.E. Dyer June 7, 2019

Thursday, 6 June 2019, was the 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Normandy in World War II. So it should come as no surprise that on this day, the edifice of the carefully constructed Mueller report was suddenly, manifestly in full collapse – rather like the Tower of Barad Dur in Mordor, toppling into the gashed, scarred earth seething below.

There is only time for the briefest of treatments here. But it appears to be time to put forth something I’ve been working on in recent weeks, even though it remains incomplete. Events are moving fast now.

Two of them crowded in on Thursday. First it was reported that Michael Flynn had moved to dismiss his legal team: the lawyers from Covington & Burling who have been representing him from the beginning. This has sparked widespread speculation that Flynn intends to reverse his plea to the false statement charge, for which he is soon to be sentenced (after multiple delays).
