Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. HEZBOLLAH ISN’T BROKE. SO WHY IS EVERYONE CLAIMING OTHERWISE?

U.S. officials claiming that sanctions against Iran have put the Lebanese terrorist organization in dire financial straits are cherry picking evidence to paint a misleading picture

    https://www.tabletmag.com/jewish-news-and-politics/285612/hezbollah-isnt-broke
    ……
This has been bothering me, too. Valerie Jarrett, the Iran Deal echo chamber – why this particular set of lies?
Hezbollah’s playing games – our media and even some in the Adminstration – are dupes.

Brad Johnson said it: PT’s replacing duds, more have to go. I’d say the Lebanon desk is infested. Trash it.

    • Is the U.S. funding of Lebanese Army strengthening Hezbollah?

Today Hezbollah is not just a part of the government, but even its local opponents – headed by Prime Minister Saad Hariri – have accepted its legitimacy as an armed group and political component.

The Trump administration is boosting its “maximum pressure” policy against Iran, but the US remains the main benefactor of the Lebanese Armed Forces, despite it having been penetrated and influenced by Hezbollah, the powerful and loyal proxy of Tehran in Lebanon. This paradoxical situation is based on a misconception, and as such it must be stopped.

    • Obama’s Pro-Iran Echo Chamber Still Secretly Talks With Terrorist Regime And Insists It’s ‘Normal’

The Daily Beast further noted how the Obama officials seem to have a clear motive: Discerning whether the possibility exists of the U.S. re-entering a new Iran nuclear deal in a post-President Donald Trump world.

“Separately, some former Obama officials are trying to keep the roots of the Iran nuclear deal alive by taking the pulse of lawmakers on Capitol Hill to gauge whether they are in favor of restarting talks in the future,” the outlet stated.

      • Well Duh, what did they think Kerry and Obama have been dooing since Trump took office? Both (and probably others we don’t hear about) have been running around the world telling people who oppose the US to wait President Trump will have a max of 4 years and then it will be back to business as usual, the Dems selling out the US and doing their best to destroy the US.

As a data point this isn’t a good idea Rolling Thunder (Bikers for Trump) says they will ride on/to DC in mass if the Dems Impeach Trump.

    • A lot of the intel orgs are infested, we can’t fire them all we have to work around them until we can get better people. The civil service act prevents mass firing and so does the political optics. Politics is the art of the possible and cleaning hte swamp in one fell swoop isn’t possible.

  2. Imams in Tunisia are Being Suspended for Violating ‘Charter of Honor’ – Official (sputniknews, Jun 1, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/africa/201906021075542447-tunisia-imams-suspension/

“Tunisia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs recently suspended nearly 70 Muslim religious officials from holding Friday prayers for “moving away from political neutrality during the pre-election period”. The Tunisian authorities decided to crack down on the instrumentalisation of religion, ahead of the general elections which will be held this autumn.

The chief of staff of the Minister of Religious Affairs, Hakim Amairi, said who exactly was banned, and explained the reasons behind the move.

The suspension of the Tunisian religious officials mainly affected imams, but also muezzins (prayer leaders) and teachers of the Koran in schools. As for imams, they were suspended for violating the norms established by the ‘Charter of Honour of an Imam Preacher’.

Adopted in February 2019 by the department of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (with the participation of imams and some civic leaders), the document contains recommendations and prohibitions regarding Friday prayers. For example, among some of the provisions, the Charter aims to guarantee the “political neutrality” of places of worship before the general election.

“It is necessary, in particular, to prevent mosques from being used for election propaganda”, Hakim Amairi explained.

In accordance with paragraphs 8 and 10 of the Charter, it is prohibited to use mosques “for the promotion of political parties, for commercial purposes or for profit”. Clerics are also forbidden from issuing “stigmatizing, insulting, defamatory speeches or any other attack against people or institutions”.

The imam of a mosque in the northeastern region of Nabeul was fired for calling the head of the government a “failure” in a Friday sermon on 19 April 2019. The ministry immediately received a report written by a “local preacher” responsible for recruiting and supervising imams. The imam was asked to appear at the Ministry and then dismissed.

“One must not believe that these measures are implemented only for attacks on the credibility of public figures. There were, also, steps taken following other types of violations, such as defamation against individuals,” the Tunisian official said.

In order to control the country’s 6,000 mosques, the ministry required another 400 preachers, so the control procedure was simplified: now it’s enough for citizens to contact the ministry, where the accuracy of the appeals is verified. In addition, according to Hakim Amairi, “the Interior Ministry may have to contact us for cooperation in the fight against terrorism.

This is not the first time that the Ministry of Religious Affairs has carried out the collective suspension of imams. In April 2018, even though the Charter had not yet been adopted, around 100 religious leaders, including several imams, were suspended after submitting their candidacies for municipal elections…”

    • The West should do as tardish countries do:
Make certain to have an agent in every mosque on Fridays, minimum. Arrest anybody who goes off the reservation.

  3. 3 bombings in Afghan capital; 1 killed, 2 reporters injured (abcnews, Jun 2, 2019)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/afghan-officials-bomb-blasts-capital-killed-63429614

“Three explosions struck the Afghan capital on Sunday, killing at least one person and injuring 17 others, Afghan officials said. At least two Afghan journalists were also injured in the blasts, according to a local non-governmental media organization.

A sticky bomb attached to a bus carrying university students left one person dead and wounded ten others, said Nasrat Rahimi, spokesman for the interior ministry.

Two roadside bombs were then detonated nearby about 20 minutes later. The blasts wounded seven more people, including five members of the security forces who had arrived at the scene of the first explosion, located in a residential area of western Kabul.

Also wounded in Sunday’s attacks were at least two Afghan journalists, Ahmad Jawed Kargar and Mohammad Faseh Mutawakil, according to Nai, a media organization that supports open media in Afghanistan.

Kargar, a photographer for the European Pressphoto Agency, confirmed he was injured by a secondary explosion in a video he posted to social media while being taken to the hospital.

Nai said Mutawakil had been lightly wounded.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks, but both Taliban and Islamic State militants are active in the capital and have staged attacks in Kabul…”

  4. London Mayor Sadiq Khan: Trump Is ‘Global Threat’, Farage a ’20th-century Fascist’ (breitbart, Jun 2, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/06/02/london-mayor-sadiq-khan-trump-is-global-threat-farage-20th-century-fascist/

“London mayor Sadiq Khan has said Donald Trump should not be granted a state visit in Britain, branding him part of the “global threat” of a rising “far right” — and accusing Nigel Farage and national populist leaders like Italy’s Matteo Salvini and Hungary’s Viktor Orbán of emulating “20th-century fascists”.

The Labour politician accused Mr Trump of using “xenophobia, racism and ‘otherness’ as an electoral tactic”, “Introducing a travel ban to a number of predominately Muslim countries”, and “Lying deliberately and repeatedly to the public”, among a host of other allegations, comparing the American leader’s actions to “the actions of European dictators of the 1930s and 40s… the military juntas of the 1970s and 80s… Vladimir Putin or Kim Jong-un” in an article for the left-liberal Observer.

“Donald Trump is just one of the most egregious examples of a growing global threat,” declared Khan, who has repeatedly attacked the U.S. President for his tough stances on border security and Islamist terrorism.

“The far right is on the rise around the world… Viktor Orbán in Hungary, Matteo Salvini in Italy, Marine Le Pen in France and Nigel Farage here in the UK are using the same divisive tropes of the fascists of the 20th century to garner support,” he claimed, warning that they are “using new sinister methods to deliver their message” (while avoiding specifics on what these methods might be).

Khan, who once fought for the Nation of Islam’s racist, anti-Semitic leader Louis Farrakhan to be admitted to Britain, declared it was “un-British to be rolling out the red carpet this week for a formal state visit” for the U.S. President, who he claimed did not represent America’s values of “equality, liberty, and religious freedom.”

“[A]t what point should we stop appeasing – and implicitly condoning – his far-right policies and views? Where do we draw the line?” Khan demanded.

“Rather than bestowing Trump with a grand platform of acceptability to the world, we should be speaking out and saying that this behaviour is unacceptable – and that it poses a grave threat to the values and principles we have fought hard to defend – often together – for decades,” the anti-Brexit politician insisted.

President Trump has not been shy about firing back at Khan in the past, taking him to task for claiming that there was “no reason to be alarmed” after a radical Islamic terrorist attack centred on London Bridge and Borough Market which involved a vehicle attack and several rampaging knifemen.

“At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is ‘no reason to be alarmed!’” the President tweeted incredulously.

“We must stop being politically correct and get down to the business of security for our people. If we don’t get smart it will only get worse,” he added.

Terror attacks and violent crime, particularly knife crime, have risen precipitously in Britain’s hyper-diverse capital during Khan’s mayoralty — driven in part by his pre-election pledge to “do all in my power” to cut the use of police stop-and-search, which he regarded as implicitly racist — and Mr Trump has not hidden his belief that the Labour politician has done “a terrible job”.”

    • 1) No one has ever been successfully prosecuted for violating the Logan Act. Kerry’s actions are a clear violation but convicting him is semi iffy (at this time).

      2) Unless/until the investigation into the coup starts indicting and arresting members of the Obama administration going for arrests of violation of the Logan Act is not good optics.

We all know a civil war is coming but we don’t want to use what could be overt actions to cause the war. It is better to wait and let the Left make the first move. Remember when things go kinetic we have to be concerned with the optics over seas. Granted the Propaganda Media will lie but the alternative media (if they still exist) are going to tell the truth.

Nearly 9-in-10 illegal aliens who have been recently released into the interior of the United States while they await their asylum hearings are not showing up to their court dates, according to a federal pilot program.

For almost half a year, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has ramped up its catch and release of border crossers and illegal aliens, specifically those arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border with children.

Since December 21, 2018, DHS has released at least 190,500 border crossers and illegal aliens into the interior of the United States. Acting DHS Secretary Kevin McAleenan told Congress this month that those foreign nationals are eventually given work permits that allow them to take U.S. jobs while awaiting their asylum hearings.

  8. Pompeo’s going, so it looks like we can all say ‘Bilderberg’ now
    By J.E. Dyer June 2, 2019

For years, there’s been something of an unspoken taboo against talking very much about the annual gathering of movers and shakers on the shores of Lake Geneva in Switzerland.

I’ve observed the taboo myself, associated as it is with tinfoil-hat thinking about a secret cabal running the world. Not being a tinfoil-hatter – I don’t believe, on principle, that human society operates that way – I’ve never wanted to invite prejudicial assumptions unnecessarily.

And although it does seem like everybody and his dog-walker has a secret cabal going these days, from the dark-money donors to the civil-society-and-academia crowd (e.g., Aspen, Ditchley) to the hoary old Bohemian Grove (with which the John Birchers used to tax Bill Buckley), it’s still been a touch too fringe-y to seem to notice it much. (I do think, as regards Bilderberg, that this has been more pronounced in U.S. media than in Europe. The Times of London may barely deign to notice Bilderberg, but the tabloids make no bones about staking it out.)

  9. Iran, Turkey Work on Pact to Ditch Greenback in Bilateral Trade – Envoy (sputniknews, Jun 2, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201906021075558130-iran-turkey-sanctions-workaround-efforts/

“Earlier, Washington ripped up waivers enabling major importers of Iranian crude oil, including Turkey, to continue their imports as part of their strategy of “maximum pressure” aimed at crippling the Iranian economy.

Iran and Turkey are working on a new gas trade mechanism to enable the two countries to resist US sanctions pressure, Iranian Ambassador to Turkey Mohammad Farazmand said, the Islamic Republic News Agency has reported, citing an interview by the ambassador to Turkish television.

“Iran exports a large volume of gas to Turkey and we need a new mechanism to be created to ease financial transactions via our national currencies,” Farazmand said. “We are [in] the process of establishing a joint bank as well,” he added.

Accusing the Trump administration of waging “economic terrorism” affecting the rights of both Iran and Turkey, Farazmand noted that “all countries are entitled to develop common trade ties with one another, and nothing illegal has been done in this regard. The cooperation is not meant to bypass the US sanctions.”

According to the ambassador, part of the mechanism for joint trade is already established. “We should also establish a new exchange mechanism to further use our own national currencies instead of the US dollar in international trade,” he stressed.

Turkey’s exports to Iran amounted to some $2.4 billion in 2018, with Iranian exports to Turkey topping $6.9 billion the same year, with much of this figure consisting of energy supplies.

Last month, Ankara agreed to halt its imports of Iranian crude oil amid fears of US sanctions, but criticised Washington’s move to end the oil import waivers granted to Turkey and over half a dozen other countries. Before May 2018, Turkey imported an average of 912,000 tonnes of oil from Turkey every month, with this figure accounting for nearly half of Ankara’s total oil imports. Amid US sanctions pressure, Ankara’s purchases of Iranian oil have declined precipitously to an average of 209,000 tonnes per month between November and April, with imports drying up completely in May.

The US extended six-month waivers for eight major oil importers of Iranian oil in November 2018, with the waivers, provided to countries including Turkey, China, India, Greece, Italy, Japan, and South Korea, as well as Taiwan, expiring in May.

Earlier this year, Hassan Montazer Torbati, chief of Iran’s National Gas Company, indicated that Turkey had requested to increase imports of Iranian natural gas. Last month, Torbati confirmed that Tehran was building up its gas refinery and pipeline infrastructure to significantly expand gas exports to countries including Iraq and Turkey.

Iran presently sells gas to Turkey via the Tabriz-Ankara pipeline, with exports amounting to about 11 billion cubic meters per year, according to PressTV. Earlier this year, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan promised to continue buying Iranian natural gas, notwithstanding US sanctions pressure.

Iran has the world’s second-largest proven reserves of natural gas.”

  10. MI5 spies ‘at breaking point’ as they face threats from foreign states, terrorists, crime bosses and cyber criminals, security minister warns (dailymail, Jun 2, 2019)
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7094823/MI5-spies-breaking-point-face-threats-foreign-states-security-minister-warns.html

“Britain’s spy network has been stretched to breaking point by a barrage of new deadly threats, MI5’s Whitehall boss has warned.

In a chilling interview with The Mail on Sunday, Security Minister Ben Wallace painted a disturbing picture of how Russian aggression, Islamic extremism, neo-Nazi terrorism and organised crime have made the world a more dangerous place.

Revealing that there are hundreds of active ongoing operations, he made a direct plea for more Treasury funding to help the hard-pressed security services combat rising threats.

Speaking exclusively to this newspaper inside MI5’s London HQ, Mr Wallace said the world was ‘very much more dangerous’ now than when he took on the job three years ago, adding: ‘If you think your adversaries can’t go any lower, you have to think again.’

The Minister said: ‘What keeps me awake at night is that the maxim that we have to be lucky all the time, they only have to be lucky once.

‘We’re under assault from all types of enemy – sophisticated cyber criminals, organised crime bosses, terrorists and hostile states – relentlessly picking away at us, targeting us and using all the facilities that the 21st Century has to offer to attack our values and our people.’

He said far-Right terrorists had copied tactics from Islamic State jihadis, and law enforcement was stretched as organised criminals using the internet become harder to catch.

Mr Wallace, who tomorrow becomes the UK’s longest-serving Security Minister ever, also attacked accountants, lawyers and estate agents, particularly those in London, for not doing enough to turn down ‘dirty money’.

He revealed that nearly 600 investigations by the security services are ‘live’ and said they show that ‘activities of hostile state actors such as we saw last year in Salisbury are not one-offs. They’re active, they’re targeting, they’re spying, they’re stealing, they’re corrupting – that’s growing, not declining.

‘What’s worrying is the rapid growth of organised crime because of the things like smartphones and encryption. Their ability to organise better means that we have to invest to face that issue.

‘I can tell you, we are at stretch. We’re not at over-stretch but we’re at stretch.

‘If we are going to carry on keeping people safe in the way we have been doing it compared to many countries, we’re going to need to invest. MI5 and the police are stretched, we are stretched because there are only so many hours in the day to deal with the growing threats such as neo-Nazi Right-wing extremism.

‘The change that has happened is that the far-Right have copied Islamic State – how to echo an event, often twisted, often inaccurate, to serve as a rallying cry for their cause.

‘The vast majority of terrorist plots against this country are Islamist, Daesh [Islamic State] and Al Qaeda plots, but the threat of the so-called lone actor, the individual who sits in his bedroom and fantasises about taking their warped views of the world on to the streets, is growing.’

In a direct plea to Chancellor Philip Hammond, the former soldier said: ‘We are going to need to do more if we are to keep one step ahead of those threats.

‘We are going to need to fund more of our intelligence services and our police. Security at home and abroad doesn’t come cheap and we are going to have to invest in that and continue.

‘In this game you are also trying to see what’s over the horizon. For us to continue to keep pace, we’re going to have to grow with it. If we don’t invest, then I think we won’t keep pace.’

Ramming home his demand, he added: ‘You’re going to need an uplift, you’re going to need to spend more than you have now. The Treasury should understand that every pound you put into security, you get a lot more back. Philip Hammond has been a former Defence Secretary and a Foreign Secretary and he’ll understand what you get for your money.’

The Home Office allocated £728 million for counter-terrorism this financial year, but Mr Wallace argued that will not be enough in future due to the historically high threat level.

He also claimed that the nameless ‘professionals’ who work under cover deserved more cash as they ‘do it not for glamour or a uniform or medals, not even for recognition – there are no parades for them’.

‘We are the good guys and we are after the bad guys,’ he added. ‘Because of the work they do we are not lucky, we are successful every day of the week at the moment.’

As well as pleading for more cash, Mr Wallace also demanded that London’s services sector stops ‘dragging its heels’ when it comes to tackling those who facilitate illicit trade and finance in the UK.

‘What makes me scream is that nearly every single money-laundering case has a lawyer involved in it. I then look at the number of suspicious activities reported by lawyers in a year and I think it’s like 1,000 out of 400,000.

‘The banks are actually doing a lot – the lawyers, the accountants and the estate agents aren’t even yet at the races.’

And he warned the sector: ‘When people justify taking dirty money by saying, “I’m just the estate agent”, some of that dirty money comes from people who traffic children, who murder people, who steal through cyber crime in our bank accounts and they wash it and they put a nice suit on and they come back to London.

‘People who think it is just a bit of fun or it’s nothing to do with them should recognise that it fuels more crime and more victims.’ “

      • A couple of months ago the same people deemed “far right terrorists”to be little threat,in fact they are as rare as hens teeth.

  13. Kindly Reminder: Secret Team Met in the White House in 2016 that Included Obama, Brennan, Rice, Comey, Biden, Clapper, Kerry and Lynch

An article from the far left Washington Post in 2017 revealed how the Trump-Russia sham started in Obama’s White House. Looking back it is very damaging for former President Obama and his CIA Head John Brennan.

The Washington Post Reported in June 2017, right after the corrupt Mueller team was created, that former President Barack Obama and his CIA Head, John Brennan, had a secret team that met in August 2016 with regards to the Trump-Russia sham –

Early last August, an envelope with extraordinary handling restrictions arrived at the White House. Sent by courier from the CIA, it carried “eyes only” instructions that its contents be shown to just four people: President Barack Obama and three senior aides.

The WaPo article went on to discuss various unsubstantiated activities that Putin was taking to interfere with the US election. Then it readdressed Obama’s actions to interfere in the 2016 election:

But at the highest levels of government, among those responsible for managing the crisis, the first moment of true foreboding about Russia’s intentions arrived with that CIA intelligence.

The material was so sensitive that CIA Director John O. Brennan kept it out of the President’s Daily Brief, concerned that even that restricted report’s distribution was too broad. The CIA package came with instructions that it be returned immediately after it was read. To guard against leaks, subsequent meetings in the Situation Room followed the same protocols as planning sessions for the Osama bin Laden raid.

The WaPo went on to share who was initially involved at the White House with Brennan and Obama –

Just hours after China’s retaliatory tariffs on the U.S. officially kicked in at midnight on Saturday in Beijing, affecting more than 2,400 goods that face levies of as much as 25%, compared with the previous charges of 10%, China took its first non-tariff retaliatory step, when it launched an investigation into FedEx for the wrongful delivery of packages, the country’s state run Xinhua News Agency reported.

Earlier this week we reported that anticipating a backlash from Chinese officials that could seriously undermine its prospects in one of the world’s largest growth markets, FedEx apologized to Huawei on Wednesday after the global logistics company “accidentally” diverted two packages sent from Japan that had been addressed to Huawei in China. The packages, which purportedly contained mundane – yet ‘urgent’ – legal documents, had been inexplicably rerouted to FedEx’s US headquarters in Memphis. Two more packages sent from Vietnam were nearly re-routed as well.

Following the mishap, Huawei said it was reviewing its relationship with FedEx, and now Beijing has also gotten involved and in commentary read on its flagship evening news program, the state-run China Central Television said that “now that China has established a list of unreliable entities, the investigation into FedEx will be a warning to other foreign companies and individuals that violate Chinese laws and regulations.”

“China welcomes foreign companies on condition that they abide by China’s law, regulation, market rules and the spirit of contract, and can’t harm Chinese customers’ legitimate rights.”

The Fedex “warning” comes one day after China said it will establish a list of “unreliable” entities that harm the interests of domestic companies, which could affect foreign enterprises as trade tensions escalate.

  18. Rolling Thunder Exec Director: We’ll Ride On Washington If Pelosi Tries to Impeach Trump

The executive director of Rolling Thunder, the annual military event that features hundreds of thousands of motorcyclists traveling to Washington to call for full accountability for prisoners of war and missing in action service members, said that the entire membership would arrive in the nation’s capital if House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, whom he called an “arrogant little b****,” decides to try to impeach President Trump.

Artie Muller, 74, who served as a U.S. Army sergeant in the Vietnam War and is listed on the group’s website as a co-founder, spoke at the National Mall on Monday and posited that Pelosi should be ousted from Congress for the series of investigations she is involved with. He stated, “I would like to see Nancy Pelosi and her hypocrites work on the POW issue instead of bulls***ting [and] aggravating the President of the United States, who’s doing a fantastic job.” He added, “When the hell are they going to wake up? It’s not their children, their mothers, their fathers that are left behind in the POW camps.”

DoD bought phony military gear made in China, including counter-night vision clothing that didn’t actually work
    By: Kyle Rempfer

The U.S. military, government agencies and other purchasers bought more than $20 million worth of Chinese-made counterfeit goods designed to look like domestically produced gear from a company that defrauded the government and helped to orchestrate the counterfeiting process between January 2013 and October 2018, Justice Department officials said last week.

The counterfeit gear included 200 specialized parkas designed to counter night vision goggles that would have been used by U.S. Air Force personnel stationed in Afghanistan.

But the Multicam APECS Parkas sold to an unnamed U.S. Air Force base supply center didn’t actually do that, which could have put troops’ lives at risk.

Those types of parkas use a near-infrared technology woven into the fabric that is designed to make the wearer more difficult for enemy forces to detect with equipment such as night-vision goggles, justice officials said. The counterfeit versions, however, lacked the near-infrared technology, unbeknownst to the wearer.

The sales were in violation of the Berry Amendment and the Trade Agreements Act, which require goods sold to the military and certain government buyers to be manufactured in either the United States or select countries.

  25. Public Schools Promoting Islam During Ramadan

A public interest law firm is challenging a New Jersey school district for promoting Islam during the current Islamic month of Ramadan.

Memorial High School, located in West New York, New Jersey, is displaying Ramadan posters sponsored by the school district wishing students to “Have a blessed Ramadan.” The poster then offers the following blessing: “May Allah Continue to shower you love and wisdom.”

The Freedom of Conscience Defense Fund (FCDF) – which offers pro bono law services regarding freedom of conscience issues — subsequently sent a “cease and desist” letter to the school district.

Teachers, concerned about the school district’s promoting Islam as a violation of the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment, contacted the law firm.

The Establishment Clause prevents endorsing one religion over another or even the endorsement of religion over non-religion.

In addition to the posters, “The teachers are also frustrated that school administrators are allowing a group of Muslim students to go from classroom to classroom during school hours and interrupt teachers during the middle of lessons to indoctrinate students about Ramadan and Islamic beliefs,” stated the law firm, adding:

  26. The Prospect of an Iran-Israel Escalation

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The recent rise in military tensions in the Persian Gulf between the US and Iran introduces a heightened possibility that Iran will activate proxies against Israel. In the event of further escalation, Jerusalem must assume that Tehran’s plans will include possible proxy attacks on Israeli territory and overseas Israeli targets.

The recent rise in military tensions in the Persian Gulf between the US and Iran introduces a heightened possibility that Iran will activate proxies against Israel, or respond more fiercely to alleged Israeli airstrikes on Iranian assets in Syria.

Currently, the Islamic Republic is pursuing a policy based on a phased deterioration of regional stability. Its object is to extract what Tehran perceives as a “proportionate” price for the Trump administration’s chokehold on the Iranian economy.

At the time of writing, this policy has seen the Iranian-backed Shiite Houthis in Yemen launch long-range explosive drone attacks targeting oil facilities near Riyadh, the Iranian-orchestrated sabotage of commercial ships docked at an oil tanker port in the UAE, and a rocket attack on the US Embassy in Baghdad.

  27. “Rarely Reported by the Media Anymore”: Persecution of Christians, March 2019

    by Raymond Ibrahim

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/14323/persecution-of-christians-march-2019

When it comes to violence between Muslims and non-Muslims, March news was dominated by the Christchurch massacres in New Zealand, where, on March 15, an Australian man killed 51 Muslims in two mosques. A statistical report that did some number-crunching, however, found that “a Christian living in a majority Muslim country is 143 times more likely to be killed by a Muslim for being a Christian than a Muslim is likely to be killed by a non-Muslim in a Western country for being what he is.”

The report — citing that “at least 4,305 Christians … were murdered by Muslims because of their faith in 2018” and that “300 million Christians, overwhelmingly in the majority-Muslim countries, were subjected to violence” — refers to the persecution of Christians by Muslims as “the most egregious example of human right violations in today’s world. The report also found other, similar disparities. In France, for example, “Frenchmen are exactly ten times more likely to be murdered by a Muslim than a Muslim being killed by a non-Muslim terrorist anywhere in the Western world.”

  33. JUNE 02 2019 – France: Yellow Vests hold ‘March of the Wounded’ over protester injuries

Thousands of Yellow Vests protesters took to the streets of Paris on Sunday, in what has been called the ‘March of the Wounded’, following allegations of police brutality during the months-long demonstrations.

The Yellow Vests protesters, who turned out for a 29th consecutive week, were seen holding banners and flags, as injured people showcased the wounds they said they suffered at the hands of police.

“We really feel the big, big repression of the state, who want to break the movement of Yellow Vests with violence. There is this willingness to frighten” said Patrice, a protester who lost an eye as the result of a flash-ball (Lanceur de balle de defense; LBD).

Since the start of the marches on 17 November, 2,448 demonstrators and 1,797 police officers have been injured according to figures released by the Ministry of the Interior on May 13.
