Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. THE EU IS AN EMPIRE IN DECAY
    It is Brussels – not Salvini or Orban – that is a threat to peace in Europe. The belief that the EU will disintegrate within two decades is an entirely rational one. The union bears many of the hallmarks of an empire in decay: it has over-extended its borders; it is attracting more outsiders than it desires or can accommodate; it has too many leaders; it has emerging nativist movements; and its poor are growing ever-more angry and resentful towards the political establishment. However, the second belief – that war between former nations will ensue – is unfounded. The only hostility evident today is directed against the EU and Germany’s leadership itself. The real prospect of war on the continent comes not with the disintegration of the EU, but with its continued existence. The EU made it as difficult as possible for the UK to leave, with the view of setting an example to other members. Any future member that wants to leave, when the decadent and decrepit Union has become more reactionary, centralised and oppressive, and its members even more discontent, may ultimately have to take stronger measures.     • The Far Left has used the EU to gain so much power they were able to create the situation where a peaceful solution to the current mess is almost impossible. They did this so they could use the coming chaos to destroy all European Nations and seize more power for themselves. For this reason the far left will not allow a peaceful solution that doesn’t include our surrendering all of our freedom and allowing them to make all of our decisions.

    The European Parliament is a bubble that has absolutely nothing to say, and never had anything to say. MEPs exist only to get big money and influence the authorities in their country in the interests of the European Union. This is a form of bribery and a smoke screen, an appearance of European democracy, which is created by the European Parliament. Therefore, to be part of it is not a good idea… membership in the European Parliament will give me access to information about what, in fact, is the EU, what are its plans for the future.                   This ability to be objective is one that a Free Civilization supposes that all human beings ought to have – the right to bear arms – but like the baby looking at the pointing finger and not the direction intended, the average mindstate may either be a matter of hypnosis with the need to unlock their clouds of emotional resentment, (“the lost sheep of Israel” – “the sick”), or just someone born with a low IQ who cannot but think of Jesus as yet another God like Allah for making priests very rich indeed.

    The amendment to the Civil Registration Act 2004 will now mean same-sex parents have the option of either the terms ‘mother’ and ‘father’ on the certificate or to replace them with the term ‘parent’ instead where both can be named. Now both parents in the female same-sex couple will have parental rights.

    Voting with breakdowns: The election website of the municipality posted a preliminary result. And there were missing ballot papers in several polling stations. The Federal Election Commissioner wants to check why several polling stations in Bochum had at times not enough ballot papers in the European elections on Sunday. “The exact circumstances will be investigated”, the Federal Election Commissioner explained late this evening on Twitter. This could, however, “take some time”, he said.

    “Only 20 percent of Danes say they support further EU enlargement; researchers have attributed this reluctance to the EU’s past expansions in the Balkans, which have been deemed problematic.

    According to the Danish Values Survey, conducted by Statistics Denmark for Aalborg University, nearly half of Danes (46 percent) oppose the EU’s further expansion, Danish Radio reported.

    20 percent of those surveyed said that the enlargement process already has “gone too far”, as the EU has expanded seven times since its inception, most recently in 2013 when Croatia was ushered in.

    By contrast, only 20 percent of Danes said they were in favour of any more expansion.

    Peter Nedergaard, a professor of political science at the University of Copenhagen, has linked the negative attitude with the EU’s recent “acquisitions” in the Balkans such as Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia.

    “[The recent enlargements] have resulted in a bigger EU and lent more stability to the Balkans, but free movement has not always been entirely positive, for example, when it comes to Romania,” Nedergaard explained to Danish Radio. “Many Romanians do well, but there are also some who don’t. For instance, there are stories about gangs of thieves who burgle and then return home. It’s unlikely that people fear adding Iceland or Norway, but rather more of the Balkan countries or Turkey.”

    According to Jan Jørgensen, the EU spokesman for Denmark’s ruling liberal-conservative Venstre party, popular fears of Turkey joining were understandable, as the country didn’t meet the EU’s demands. By contrast, he said he would have supported the desire of Norway or Switzerland to join the EU.

    Social Liberals EU rapporteur Sofie Carsten Nielsen argued that the time is not ripe for another EU extension, suggesting that Brussels already had a hard time keeping some of the “unruly” members, such as Poland and Hungary, in check. Since joining the EU in 2004, the two countries have found themselves on a collision course with Brussels over issues such as immigration.

    The right-wing Danish People’s Party (DF) doesn’t believe in EU expansion either.

    “The countries that seek to join the EU, for instance in the West Balkans, are close to financial bankruptcy, and they are going to be expensive for the EU”, DF EU rapporteur Kenneth Kristensen Berth said.

    Since being founded in 1952 by France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, West Germany and Luxembourg, the EU has experienced expansion seven times and currently numbers 28 member states.

    Albania, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey are all candidate countries. Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova have all signed Association Agreements with the EU.”

    “Strict fasting routines make it difficult for hungry Muslim children to concentrate during their lessons and prepare for final exams at the end of the spring semester; this anxiety has not only affected their grades, it’s had an adverse effect on their fellow students, according to the Finnish daily Suomen Kuvalehti.

    May has become a gruelling time for some Finnish schools, as the Muslim fasting month, Ramadan, complicates the learning process, the newspaper Suomen Kuvalehti reports.

    Hungry children experience difficulties in maintaining concentration during their lessons and while preparing for the final exams at the end of the spring semester, the newspaper said. Furthermore, the anxiety of the fasting children is quickly passed on to their classmates.

    In early May, the administration of the city of Tampere announced that Ramadan would not be observed at the city’s schools. Katja Simonen, an organiser of language and cultural education at a secondary school in Tampere, equated school to working life, where people need to adapt to certain rules.

    “It is about the state of Muslim children and the welfare of all students. In Finnish schools, children should eat,” Simonen explained. “Young children can fast at home and cannot cope at school without food,” she added. According to her, primary school children don’t need to observe Ramadan at all, since only healthy adults in the Muslim community fast.

    However, the prescription is not strictly observed. At Pohjois Hervanta school alone, where 40 percent of the schoolchildren are migrants, 60 students observe Ramadan, despite the city administration’s instructions.

    “We cannot force-feed children or give injections with nutrients. All we can do is advise parents not to force children to fast,” school headmaster Ilpo Nybacka said.

    According to the director, the effects of Ramadan are tangible.

    “Ramadan is noticeable due to increased anxiety in everyday school life”, Nybacka explained.

    At Pohjois Hervanta, the lack of concentration has reached such high levels that parents were asked to immediately stop the children’s fasting. However, it is still difficult for some parents to accept the school’s instructions.

    “It may be hard for them to understand the school’s call to stop fasting if at the age of 9, the child is already a Muslim believer who wears the Islamic headscarf as a symbol of faith,” Katja Simonen explained.

    For those pupils who observe Ramadan, despite the city of Tampere’s instruction, water is offered alongside an additional 15-minute break.

    According to headmaster Nybacka, the most problematic aspect from the school’s point of view are the students who parade their piety as a way of getting additional benefits.

    “Religion and fasting cannot be used to obtain special status. Sincere religiosity is one thing, yet reluctance to eat food that ‘doesn’t taste good enough’, have a longer recess or buy food from the kiosk is another”, Nybacka argued. According to him, there should be the same rules for all students in Finnish schools.

    According to the Finnish Teachers Trade Union, schools and municipalities have different approaches to Ramadan. While some forbid fasting, others support it.

    “Schools play a big role in integrating Muslim migrants into the Finnish education system. Ways to ensure freedom of religion can be sought together, but the rules should be common to all. You can not seek benefits, hiding behind Ramadan or prayers”, union representative Päivi Lyhykäinen explained.

    “The freedom of religion is entrenched in the Finnish constitution. However, families’ religious principles should not adversely affect school life or work,” Leena Nissilä of the Finnish Education Commission said.

    During Ramadan, which this year lasts from 5 May to 4 June, fasting from dawn until sunset is obligatory for all Muslims, except except those who are ill, travelling, elderly, pregnant, breastfeeding, diabetic, chronically ill, or menstruating.

    A 2016 estimate by the Research Centre suggested that 2.7 percent of Finland’s population of 5.5 million is Muslim.”

    BRUSSELS (AP) — European Union leaders and party officials plotted strategy Monday after European Parliament elections ended the domination of the main center-right and center-left parties and revealed an altered political landscape where the far-right and environmentalists stand as forces to be reckoned with.

    French President Emmanuel Macron launched a flurry of meetings, ahead of a summit Tuesday where the 28-nation bloc’s presidents and prime ministers will take stock of the results from elections that attracted the highest voter turnout in 20 years.

    Macron’s Republic on the Move party looks to have secured 23 seats in the assembly for the next five years — the same number as the far-right National Rally, whose leader Marine Le Pen was trounced by Macron in national elections two years ago. He was due to hold talks with the leaders of Spain, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia ahead of the dinner summit in Brussels.

    In about 10 minutes there will be a no-confidence vote in the Austrian Parlament against Chancellor Kurz and his interim Government “of experts”.

    My feeling is that the Government will fall – bad news because this was one of the best Austrian Governments in a very long time, and bad news for our side because, mainly driven on by the junior coalition partner (ex leader H.C. Strache) it really took some action against the illegal immigration/islamic invasion of Austria.

    I do not know who exactly pulled the strings of Chancellor Kurz, nor do I know if he was being pressured or – as the now “ex Interior Minister”, Herbert Kickel (best Interior Minister in Austria’s History – he activated all these new laws) accused him of “went on a mad power grab and mis-calculdated,

    I’m very sad to see this promising position of Austria, go to dust.

      I guess this is where I’m supposed to gush with eternal gratitude over how Austria doesn’t have a nuclear arsenal. As in: Thank goodness for small mercies … despite how the entire White race is being subjected to Global Cultural Genocide.™

  20. UK: ‘Unaccompanied Minor’ Age Assessments Based on Appearance Ruled Unlawful (breitbart, May 27, 2019)

    “Asylum seeker age assessments based on physical appearance and outward behaviour are unlawful, UK judges have said.

    Government guidelines allowing authorities to treat such migrants as adults if their physical appearance and/or demeanour “very strongly suggests that they are significantly over 18 years of age” are not legitimate and risk “children being unlawfully detained”, according to a new ruling.

    Asserting that assessing the age of a person based on their appearance and demeanour was “an inexact science”, judges ruled by two to one on Thursday that the Home Office guidelines should be scrapped.

    Lord Justice Underhill said: “In the absence of guidance as to the width of the margin of error there is inevitably a real risk that immigration officers will place too much trust in their own assessment that a particular young person is ‘significantly’ over 18.”

    The case was brought to the Court of Appeal by representatives for an Eritrean male who broke into Britain on the back of a lorry in 2014 and presented himself to police as a 16-year-old who was born in 1998.

    Lawyers argued the migrant, identified only as BF, was unlawfully detained after several members of the authorities including police officers and border guards refused to believe he was a minor, according to The Times, which reports that the Eritrean was described by a chief immigration officer involved in the assessment as looking like “an adult in his mid-twenties”.

    Age assessments based on physical assessments and demeanour are not necessarily accurate, Lord Justices Underhill, Simon, and Baker said in their ruling, pointing out that BF was found to be over 18 at two formal assessments before another test six months later in Wales, where social workers in Wales deemed him to be a child.

    Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) boss, Rebecca Hilsenrath, praised the ruling, declaring that “children’s rights and welfare should not be a guessing game”, while the Home Office professed it was “disappointed by the judgment”.

    NGOs and so-called human rights bodies are generally opposed to age testing asylum seekers who claim to be children, with the Council of Europe demanding that such migrants “be given the benefit of the doubt and presumed to be a child” on the basis that age assessments “may be frightening and unsettling for children”.

    But others argue that the dismantling of checks risks putting unvetted, potentially dangerous adults into close proximity with children at services like schools and foster homes.

    Fears that adult migrants are posing as children to gain access to favourable treatment and more costly services by the UK authorities have not been unfounded, according to previous Home Office figures, which revealed 65 per cent of individuals alleging they were “unaccompanied minors” in the year to September 2015 were judged to be over 18.”

    The case is being handled as a terrorism investigation given the circumstances of the attack, committed in broad daylight, and the use of an explosive device capable of hitting a large number of people with screws and metal balls packed into a bag.

    A police source said the three arrested were the student, who does not have a police record, a minor who studies at a high school in Lyon and is also of Algerian nationality, and a woman.

    The Paris prosecutors’ office said that minor was a member of the main suspect’s family circle. No information was provided about the woman.

    French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner also announced the arrest of the man on Twitter, but did not provide further details on the suspect or where he was arrested.

    Security camera footage of the incident shows a partially masked suspect wheeling a bicycle to the scene, before leaving a bag outside a branch of a popular bakery chain.

    DNA traces were found on the remains of the parcel, according to a source close to investigation.

    Another source said the judicial police arrested the man on the street after having tailed him.

    They decided not to arrest him at his apartment, the source said, for fear that there could still be some triacetone triperoxide or TATP, the powerful but unstable homemade explosive that was used in the attack.

      He had been the target of an extensive manhunt since late Friday when an explosive device filled with screws and ball bearings was placed in front of a bakery near the corner of two crowded pedestrian streets in the historic centre of Lyon.

      Police circulated photos of the suspect on Twitter, leading to “several dozen” calls from people with information.

      Sources close to the investigation suspected the explosive was acetone peroxide, or APEX, a volatile compound used in deadly Paris attacks that happened on November 13, 2015.

      Investigators recovered small screws, ball bearings and batteries along with a printed circuit and a remote-controlled trigger device. Officials later said the charge was relatively weak.

      Thirteen people were wounded in the blast – eight women, four men and a 10-year-old girl – of whom 11 needed hospital treatment.

      None of their injuries is believed to be life-threatening, but authorities said some needed surgery to remove shrapnel.

      “There was an explosion and I thought it was a car crash,” said Eva, a 17-year-old student who was about 15 metres from the site of the blast, which was on the narrow strip of land between the Saone and Rhone rivers in the historic city centre.

      “There were bits of electric wire near me, and batteries and bits of cardboard and plastic. The windows were blown out.”

      “It’s an area in the very centre of Lyon, a major street,” the city’s deputy mayor in charge of security, Jean-Yves Secheresse, told BFM television.

      “These areas are highly secured, the police are continually present,” as were patrols by soldiers deployed in a long-running anti-terror operation, he said.

      France has been on high alert following a wave of deadly jihadist terror attacks since 2015 which have killed more than 250 people.

      The Islamic State group has been behind many of the attacks. No one has claimed responsibility for the Lyon blast. A planned concert by British singer Ed Sheeran went ahead in Lyon on Friday night, albeit with heightened security.

    European Commission Chief Spokesperson Margaritis Schinas said pro-EU political forces won the day over anti-EU populists, as they have maintained a majority in the European Parliament, during a press briefing following the recent elections, on Monday, in Brussels.

    “There is a pro-EU majority in the house, meaning that we can count on a constructive and engaged parliament for the next institutional cycle,” Schinas said. “The populists didn’t win this election. Contrary to doomsday year’s prophecies, it is the pro-EU political forces across the political spectrum that won the day.”

    Support for populist parties, however, grew from 20 per cent in 2014 to 25 per cent in the elections that conclude on Sunday. The three main Eurosceptic groups will control a total of 171 seats, up from 154 in 2014.

    Anti-EU parties in the UK, Italy and France earned the most votes in their respective countries, though Marine Le Pen’s National Rally party will still lose two MEP seats in the aftermath of this election.

    The elections recorded an estimated turnout of 50 per cent across the European bloc, the highest turnout in 20 years, which had previously been steadily falling with each election since 1979.

    Of those results, Schinas said, “Here in the Juncker commission, we have good reason to believe that this also reflects our hard work and record of achievements over the last five years.”

    There’s no getting away from the fact that 2019 marks the 75th anniversary of everything that happened in the World War II year 1944. It was a year like no other, seeing the brutal siege of Leningrad lifted in January, the German defense broken in Italy, the Red Army advancing in Crimea and what is now Belarus, the start of daylight bombing over Berlin, and the Allied assault on Northern France, still one of the most remarkable combat actions in history. In the Pacific, the forces of the U.S. and the British Commonwealth converged on Southeast Asia, fighting for every inch against tenacious Japanese defenses in Burma, the Pacific island archipelagos, and Indonesia. In June 1944, ten days after the D-Day invasion began in Normandy, American B-29 Superfortresses operating from India conducted the first bombing raids against the Japanese home islands since Doolittle’s raid in 1942.

    As intense and significant as World War II was, I think most Americans have had a strong sense that we stand today at the great interchange of an even larger history. World War II quite literally defined the human globe for more than half a century: it drew the geographic boundaries, set the framework of strategic expectations, delineated the moral causes and clash of ideologies for the ensuing decades. But the moving finger is writing. And we feel in our spirits: it is moving on.

    It occurs to me, then, to offer a few small vignettes from an expanded store of memories as we pause to honor those who gave the “last full measure of devotion” in America’s service.

    A 100-year anniversary

    The first is a non-combat, non-war event whose 100th anniversary is today, 27 May 2019. On this day 100 years ago, one of a small flight of Navy amphibious planes completed a transatlantic crossing. It had never been done before, and it took specially built Curtiss biplanes, more planes than would actually finish the trip (only one of three, NC-4, made it all the way), a string of picket ships across the Atlantic Ocean, and 19 days to do it.

    “A total of eleven different young men, eight of whom were minors, have given light sentences of between three and eleven years after being found guilty of gang-raping four girls in a cellar.

    The attacks occurred in September of 2016, with a 17-year-old coming forward to police on September 15th saying that she had been gang-raped by at least ten boys, with three other girls coming forward later — including a 14-year-old — saying that they too had been raped by the gang of youths, 7sur7 reports.

    The 17-year-old described the perpetrators of the attack as wearing football uniforms, which led police to search a nearby stadium in the heavily migrant-populated Paris suburbs of Seine-Saint-Denis where several of the rapists were identified and arrested.

    According to investigators, the boys involved in the gang rapes used coded language to indicate to their compatriots when a girl was being lured to the cellar where the gang rapes took place.

    The Seine-Saint-Denis area, which constitutes a number of suburbs north of Paris, has become well-known for violence, crime, and the burning of cars on New Year’s Eve and Bastille Day every year.

    According to a report from the French parliament, the number of illegal migrants living in the suburbs could be as high as 400,000, making illegals around 20 per cent of the total population of the suburbs.

    Police have also been the targets of “youths” from the suburbs as well, with social media posts prior to Halloween last year calling for a “purge” of police officers. The 19-year-old behind the initial post was later arrested after calling for violence and saying “the police should be attacked with mortars, fire, firecrackers and stones.””

    “Italian populist Interior Minister Matteo Salvini took to Twitter this weekend to comment on an Italian television programme on Swedish migrant areas, saying he did not want Italy to become like Sweden.

    Mr Salvini reacted to the programme Tg2, broadcast on national broadcaster RAI, that examined highly migrant-populated areas in Sweden and claimed that entire neighbourhoods were essentially ruled by Sharia.

    The programme drew strongly negative reactions from the Swedish embassy in Italy, according to a report from Italian newspaper Il Giornale.

    In his tweet, posted on Saturday, the Deputy Prime Minsiter Salvini said, “We don’t want to end up like Sweden, this is not integration! NO TO EURABIA. Oriana, look at us from up there” — a reference to the late Italian journalist Oriana Fallaci, who became well known for her anti-Islamisation views through her books The Rage and the Pride and The Force of Reason.

    Following the airing of the programme, The Swedish embassy pushed back, claiming “There are no ‘no go zones’ in Sweden. As in most large cities, there are socially vulnerable areas where, contrary to what is stated in the service, police presence has been strengthened in recent years.”

    “We also wish to clarify that Swedish law is applied throughout Sweden throughout the country and the law is the same for everyone,” the embassy insisted.

    While the Swedish government has consistently denied the existence of no go zone, preferring to label them “vulnerable areas”, there have been reports of heavily migrant-populated neighbourhoods where local Muslim men attempt to enforce Sharia and Islamic morality codes.

    Last year, the Swedish centre-right Moderate Party specifically addressed the issue, saying that they wanted to see so-called “morality police” in no go zones arrested and arguing that they were increasing the problem of so-called honour culture and thereby infringing on the freedoms of women and children.

    While police presence has been increased in some no go zones, many police officers have been attacked, often by youths, while out responding to emergency calls. Last year in Malmö a police station in a vulnerable area was even subjected to an explosives attack.

    The Stockholm suburb of Rinkeby is one of the most notorious no go zones in Sweden and police have made attempts to strengthen their presence by building a new police station, but have found it hard going after construction workers refused to build in the area because of fears of being attacked.

    The fears were confirmed last year when masked men rammed the gate of the construction site, attacked a security guard, and then proceeded to set the car they had used to break in on fire.”

    “Indonesia’s national police have named six new suspects linked to the violence in Jakarta last week, including three who were paid to kill high-profile state officials.

    National police spokesman Mohammad Iqbal revealed at a media conference yesterday that two of the suspects, identified only as HK and TJ, were ordered in March to murder two national leaders, and later in April to kill another two state officials.

    Police declined to identify the intended targets.

    For his role, HK was paid 150 million rupiah (S$14,300) and TJ received 25 million rupiah, he added.

    Inspector-General Iqbal told reporters that the people behind the plots had intended to use the murders to destabilise the country.

    He said his team has established the identity of the mastermind, but he declined to elaborate as investigations are ongoing.

    “We are digging deeper into the case and will provide updates later,” he added.

    Mr Iqbal said another suspect, identified as AZ, had received instructions in April to kill the head of a local polling company in exchange for 5 million rupiah.

    Police described the three men as “professionals”.

    Two other suspects, one of whom is a woman, were allegedly involved in selling guns, some of which were illegal, to the three men involved in the murder plots.

    The last suspect was not involved in the murder plots.

    “The hired killers are highly professional and experienced,” Mr Iqbal said.

    The news yesterday came in the wake of an ongoing investigation that exposed the role of the six in last week’s violence around the capital, home to around 10 million people.

    A series of peaceful protests that broke out in Jakarta, after the elections commission on May 21 announced official results which showed President Joko Widodo had defeated challenger Prabowo Subianto in the April 17 presidential election, escalated into riots that claimed the lives of eight people and injured more than 700 others.

    The national police had described the street violence as a coordinated strike and “an event by design”.

    They said that it was planned by the rioters using WhatsApp chat groups.

    As of Sunday, at least 452 rioters had been arrested, including men from neighbouring provinces Banten and West Java, as well as West Nusa Tenggara.

    They were armed with metal arrows, sickles, Molotov cocktails and firecrackers during clashes with thousands of police officers that dragged on for hours.

    The violence resulted in the city being paralysed by road diversions, the suspension of transportation services and the forced closure of business centres.

    Police said the riots involved paid thugs and possible domestic militants loyal to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.

    Investigators found on some of the suspects white envelopes containing cash of between 200,000 rupiah and 500,000 rupiah.

    Mr Iqbal said that the police and the Indonesian Armed Forces have continued to deploy around 40,000 officers in Jakarta to ensure security in the capital.

    The Straits Times yesterday spotted troops guarding key government buildings, such as the election supervisory agency Bawaslu, the Constitutional Court and ministries located around the state palace.”
