Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Germany: Statue of the Virgin Mary beheaded and damaged+++
    After a man from Trier district of West reported the theft of a sandstone statue of the Virgin Mary last Saturday, May 18, the severely damaged sculpture (photo above) was found last Sunday, May 19, in Trierweilerweg street. The statue of the Virgin Mary made of sandstone from Udelfang was stolen from a private property in Trier’s Grana street between the 14th and 18th of May.According to police investigations to date, the sculpture, which is about two metres high and weighs 150 to 200 kilograms, must have been carried off the property by several people. The statue has now been found in Trierweilerweg street.However, it is severely damaged. According to witnesses, the sculpture had already been lying in an access road to the property since May 18. It was broken into several parts. The upper part with head and body is missing. “In addition to its material value, the statue of the Virgin Mary has a very high non-material value for the owner,” says Karl-Peter Jochem, press spokesman for the police headquarters in Trier, “he is very upset about the theft and the damage. The Trier Police Department is now looking for witnesses who can provide information about the theft and asks: Who saw people transporting the statue of Mary between 14th and 18th of May in the area of Grana street and Trierweilerweg street?

  12. WEST HIT BY 112 TERRORIST ATTACKS IN 15 YEARS: DUTCH INTELLIGENCE SERVICE (nltimes, May 21, 2019)

    “A total of 112 terrorist attacks were committed in Western countries over the past 15 years. Three quarters of these happened in the last five years, a strong increase related to the rise of terrorist organization Islamic State since 2014, according to an analysis by Dutch intelligence and security service AIVD. The number of attacks decreased again since the fall of Islamic State, NOS reports.

    Fourteen Western countries including the Netherlands were hit by attacks. But 70 percent of all attacks occurred in just four countries – France, the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany. 76 percent of the 112 attacks were “successful” – they were actually committed and led to casualties or damage. Over the past five years, the “success” rate increased to 84 percent. 12 percent of the attacks left more than 50 people dead or injured.

    In most cases attacks in the West were ordered by either al-Qaeda or ISIS, or inspired or stimulated by those two terrorist organization. ISIS in particular succeeded in mobilizing and inspiring sympathizers to commit attacks in their name, according to AIVD.

    The vast majority of attacks, 80 percent, were committed by a single perpetrator. 41 percent of attacks were committed with a knife or other stabbing weapon. Explosives were used relatively frequently in the first 10 years AIVD looked at, but were much less popular in the past five years. In recent years terrorists started using vehicles as the form of attack. In the 2014 to 2018 period, a truck or passenger car was used in 17 percent of attacks.

    Most of the attacks happened at accessible places with little security that draw crowds, such as shopping streets, squares and Christmas markets. Terrorists only targeted a public event six times in the past 15 years – a marathon in Boston, a fireworks show in Nice, a footrace in the United States, and three Christmas markets. Police officers and soldiers were often targeted. 36 percent of attacks in the West were aimed at uniformed personnel, with a sharp increase in the last five years. According to the AIVD, attacks on soldiers and cops are aimed at the authority that they represent, not at the person themselves.

    The AIVD identified a separate category of attacks, those aimed at “blasphemies”. These attacks target people the terrorists believe insult Islam, the Koran or the prophet Mohammad. The murder of Dutch populist politician Theo van Gogh in 2004 was the first such attack in the West. Almost all of these attacks are linked to controversy around cartoons, such as drawings by Dane Kurt Westergaard and the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. The terrorist that stabbed two American tourists at Amsterdam Central Station last year also said he did so because PVV leader Geert Wilders announced a Mohammad cartoon contest.

    According to the AIVD, the “higher purpose” behind the majority of attacks never become known. “The claims by terrorist groups are not always reliable, statements by perpetrators sometimes change, and legitimacy is sometimes only invented afterwards.”

    With this report, the AIVD wants to contribute to more objective knowledge about attacks committed in the west.”

    “This is not the first time that the US government has expressed interest in gathering social media data: last April, the Departments of Homeland Security unveiled its plans to create a database to track more than 290,000 global news sources in over 100 languages.

    As part of “research efforts” conducted through the Pentagon and analysis at the Naval Postgraduate School, the US Department of the Navy has shared a solicitation to contractors, revealing a project to create an archive of 350 billion social media posts related to the “minimum time period” from 1 July 2014 to 31 December 2016.

    “Our research aims to provide enhanced understanding of fundamental social dynamics, to model the evolution of linguistic communities, and emerging modes of collective expression, over time and across countries. As a central requirement for this research, we seek to acquire a large-scale global historical archive of social media data, providing the full text of all public social media posts, across all countries and languages covered by the social media platform”, the synopsis reads.

    According to the solicitation, the data will be drawn from a single social media platform — although it does not specify which one; all records must consist only of publicly available information, and no private user data will be included.

    In addition, each record in the database will be required to provide the full text of a social media post, with all publicly avaliable meta-data, including language, hashtags, country, handle, timestamp, URLs, and must be unaltered from the original content.

    The department has emphasised that the data will include messages from at least 200 million unique users across 100 countries, in no less than 60 languages, with 50 percent of the messages not written in English.”

  14. Dutch arrest suspected Jabhat al-Nusra battalion commander

    A suspected commander of a terrorist Jabhat al-Nusra battalion has been arrested in the Netherlands, police said on Tuesday afternoon. The man, who is 47 and has Syrian nationality, was arrested in the small town of Kapelle in Zeeland on suspicion of committing war crimes and terrorist crimes in Syria. He has been in the Netherlands since 2014 and has a temporary asylum permit. The man, police said in a website statement, fought under the name Abu Khuder and his battalion was known as Ghuraba’a Mohassan (Strangers of Mohassan). The home of a man in Ede was also searched as he is thought to be in contact with the main suspect, police said. At the same time, six homes of other suspected members of Ghuraba’a Mohassan were searched in Germany in a separate investigation. The Dutch arrest followed information from the German police, who provided witness testimonies about the suspect. The man will appear in court on Friday for a remand hearing.

    “The youth organisation of Finland’s largest right-wing party has provoked strong reactions by claiming that dark-skinned families are not welcome in the Nordic country.

    Finnish Youth, the junior wing of the right-wing Finns Party has sparked outrage with its new campaign.

    In the run-up to the EU election, in which the Finns Party expects major electoral gains, Finnish Youth has shared a screenshot from a European parliament ad, which shows two happy dark-skinned parents and their child.

    “Vote Finns so that Finland’s future will not look like this”, Finnish Youth captioned the screenshot.

    Their campaign has sparked strong reactions across the Finnish political landscape.

    Lawyer and Social Democrat politician Sakari Timonen called the post “openly racist” and called for the government to halt grants to the Finns Youth.

    According to Finnish law, youth organisations receiving government grants should have “solidarity, cultural diversity and internationalism” as their foundation. According to the Finnish Youth website, “no to multiculturalism” is one of the organisation’s principles.

    Li Andersson, the leader of the Left Alliance, also claimed that Finns’s “racism” was “crystal clear”.

    Finnish Youth president Asseri Kinnunen is running for the European Parliament election for the Finns Party. According to Kinnunen, Finnish Youth wanted to initiate a debate on the European Parliament’s “propaganda campaign”.

    “We wanted to debate if it is the EU or Finland’s own decision-makers who decide over Finland’s future”, Kinnunen explained his standpoint, as quoted by the daily Hufvudstadsbladet.

    By his own admission, Kinnunen wants to work for the Finnish economy, security and agriculture. He also proposes a strict immigration policy and has backed border controls.

    On Twitter, the Finnish Youth’s campaign triggered mixed reactions. While some hailed Finns’ desire to “keep Finland Finnish and Europe European”, as one user put it, others found their ethnicity-based nationalism unappealing…”

    Speaking at a press briefing Monday, Dujarric stressed that “refugees and migrants must be treated with dignity and respect for their human rights”, adding that the letter to Italy was “sent by figures who play an important role but are independent from the UN”.

    The letter, which was received by foreign affairs minister Enzo Moavero Milanesi, demanded authorities in Italy “stop endangering the lives of migrants … by invoking the fight against traffickers”, stating that “the right to life” should always be prioritised over immigration controls.

    The Italian authorities’ assertion that the blockade punishes criminal smuggling gangs is “misleading and is not in line with both general international law and international human rights law”, according to the UN Special Rapporteurs, who claimed that “instead, restrictive migration policies contribute to exacerbating migrants’ vulnerabilities and only serve to increase trafficking in persons.”

    Legislation to stop tech companies from tracking users online is finding new momentum as Congress seeks to crack down on big tech’s privacy practices.

    On Tuesday, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) unveiled a “Do Not Track” bill with tough penalties for companies who break its protections, reviving a debate over whether users should be allowed to opt out of the tracking and data collection that comprise the core of many top tech companies’ business models.

    Efforts to create a Do Not Track registry have hit roadblocks for more than a decade, but consumer advocates and tech industry critics say Hawley’s bill could find better traction amid a larger backlash against tech behemoths including Google, Facebook and Amazon.

    “Leader of the left-progressive group in the European Parliament Guy Verhofstadt has said that in order to compete with the rest of the world, the European Union must become an “empire.”

    The leader of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats in Europe (ALDE) told CNN that proposals by European populist-patriots to reform the EU and devolve power from Brussels back to the nation-state would mean that the bloc “will die inside.”

    “The world is developing into one not of nation states, but of empires. China is an empire. India is an empire. The US is an empire. We need to create a European Union that is capable of defending our interests,” Mr Verhofstadt stated during the interview, speaking to the leftist American news network in what was described as his “spacious” Brussels office.

    Mr Verhofstadt, who is also the European Parliament’s Brexit Coordinator, is an avid supporter of greater federalisation of the European Union.

    During a Euronews Raw Politics panel last week, the former prime minister of Belgium compared a proposed United States of Europe to the United States of America, saying: “The United States of Europe is a way to organise a common action on the European level by recognising, by guaranteeing the autonomy of the member states.”

    Other Eurocrats have also voiced support for a United States of Europe, including former president of the European Parliament and German socialist politician Martin Schulz who called for its formation by 2025.

    While a number of prominent European politicians have voiced their support for other measures of greater centralisation of power and federalisation, including President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker who wants an EU army by 2025; the progressive President of France Emmanuel Macron who proposed full monetary union with a common EU budget, a finance ministry, and an EU public prosecutor to protect the Single Market from abuses; and German Chancellor Angela Merkel who urged the bloc to adopt a common migration policy.

    Eurocrats are panicking that this week’s elections will result in a wave of patriot-nationalists, populists, and eurosceptics taking seats in the European Parliament, disrupting their plans for a Europe of Ever Closer Union.

    Speaking during a rally headed by several populist leaders from across the continent earlier this month, French political firebrand Marine Le Pen predicted the end of the European Union as it is currently formed, heralding instead “a new European harmony” of sovereign European nations “joining forces to offer 500 million Europeans a new framework for cooperation, a new project and a new potential for the future.””

    “Police are investigating claims that LGBT activists were harassed, intimidated, and pelted with eggs outside a primary school in Birmingham where a row has blown up between the activists, and Muslim parents over the teaching of LGBT issues to children.

    Officers are currently looking into three reports of assault and two of criminal damage after the parents and protesters clashed with the LGBT activists who were placing banners reading, “Love is the answer” and rainbow flags on the school gates.

    The group of LGBT activists, which consisted of 12 women and one man, said they were harassed and intimidated by the parents and anti-LGBT protesters.

    One woman said she was called a vandal for placing the flags and banners on the school gates and a mobile phone recording reportedly hears one of the parents say: “The people want to come to our area and cause anarchy. I have to hold all the lads back because everyone is becoming very volatile.”

    Honor Bridgman, one of the LGBT activists, said: “We have stood by and observed these protests for weeks. We felt we wanted to do something, in a loving way. We have consciously not organised counterprotests as we feel that would make matters worse.”

    The school, Anderton Park primary, is at the centre of a standoff between LGBT activists and predominantly Muslim parents over the teaching of issues such as gay relationships and gender identity at the school. Protesters claim that up to 600 children were withdrawn from classes by their parents over the decision.

    The attack on the LGBT activists follows reports that the headteacher of Anderton Park, Sarah Hewitt-Clarkson, had received threatening letters and phone calls from protesters and parents. Ms Hewitt-Clarkson described the protests as “very loud” and said, “it’s very aggressive, it’s tiresome”.

    The organiser of the anti-LGBT protests, Shakeel Afsar, who does not have children at the school, was confronted by Labour MP Jess Phillips on Monday.

    Mr Afsar said to Ms Phillips: “How come you haven’t been here, and how come you haven’t been supporting the 300 parents who have been protesting here for the last four weeks? Where have you been?”

    Ms Phillips replied: “I don’t agree with the protest. I don’t agree that you get to pick and choose which equality you can and can’t have.”

    She went on to say that “our equality laws protect us all. I want them to protect you, and actually I want to protect you, and actually, I want to protect the Muslim community.”

    The dispute at Anderton Park follows a similar dispute at Parkfield Community School, also in Birmingham, in which a programme called ‘No Outsiders’ was introduced to teach LGBT equality alongside existing sex and relationship education.

    At Parkfield, the course was put on hold during Ramadan out of deference to the Muslim parents but has been urged by many to continue.”

    On Monday, the Chorlton Brewing Company, based in Manchester, England, advocated hitting “fascists” — a term reserved for anyone who is not a flaming left-wing communist — over the head with bricks.

    “Note to our customers: please don’t throw our beer over fascists. Hit them over the head with a brick as is traditional,” the company wrote on Twitter, apparently in response to news that someone hurled a milkshake at Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage.

      Former Navy SEAL Craig ‘Sawman’ Sawyer warns of ‘gruesome massacre’ if Trump removed from office

      In a Facebook post published Friday, Craig “Sawman” Sawyer, a Marine veteran, former Navy SEAL, sniper, combat instructor and the owner of Tactical Insider, warned of a “gruesome massacre” if President Trump is removed from office.

      “I’m hearing serious rumblings of a hostile, illegal coup against our democratically elected President by seditious, deep-state subversives funded by Soros & other globalists. Very disturbing,” he wrote, adding:

      Patriots, this would be nothing less than an act of war against the American people. It would be the removal of our boldest defender & last possibility of maintaining our protective Constitution. Under the boot of globalists, life as we know it, would immediately decline to the model that suits the globalist interest – Marxist/Socialist/Communist. They get complete control, you get zero. Freedom, Gone! Liberty, Gone! This agenda is evil and simply cannot be allowed, at ANY cost.

      Do liberals really want a second bloody civil war? On Tuesday, Republican Donald J. Trump won a historic election to become the 45th President of the United States. Liberals — who ironically castigated Trump for saying he may not accept the result of the election — went on a rampage across the country, unable and unwilling to accept the fact that he won.

      Over three million people, including a number of Hollywood celebrities, have signed a petition asking the Electoral College to overturn the election and install Democrat Hillary Clinton as President.

      And as we have reported:

      Liberal thugs beat and hospitalized a man’s dog over Donald Trump.
      Liberals flooded Twitter with calls to murder Trump and his supporters.
      A high school girl was beaten for supporting Trump.
      A writer with the left-wing Guardian advocated Trump’s assassination.
      A leader of the Council on American Islamic Relations advocated overthrowing the government.

          What’s happening is, these shits are loading Conservative sites with well-known and tiresome clickbait to chase away viewers who are at least savvy enough to boycott most of the useless sites which run that trash. The presence of such obvious spam also lowers the credibility of those pages.

          By complete and total accident (of course!), this is further depressing visitor traffic (and subsequent popularity) to those dissenting websites. I believe that what we’re seeing is merely another form of “shadow” censoring.

The accusation is in Zavtra, and could have been written by the late Lyndon Larouche, whose loony writings are used in Zavtra. It “quotes” a letter they say I wrote to John Bolton in 2018 (I don’t remember any such letter) and credits me for having been a supporter of the “Arab Spring.”

    It’s right out of an old KGB playbook, even to repeating old libels about my anticommunist writings in and about Italy when the Italian Communist Party was the largest outside the Soviet Union, and seemed on the verge of winning a national election and forming a new government.

    If you were around during the Cold War, when I worked with Bukovsky and other Soviet dissidents to bring the Soviet Empire to an end, you’d perhaps remember when a leading Russian publication called me “an enemy of the Soviet people.” This new Russian attack is a replay of those old KGB libels in both Iran and Russia. The claim that I am a “mastermind” of Iranian opposition to the Khamenei regime has often been made in Iranian courts, and broadcast on Iranian regime television.

    It is all nonsense. I only wish I were in constant contact with our policy makers, but I’m not. The Russians, however, are still trying to present my calls for democratic revolution in Iran as part of a long-standing plot by American anticommunist intellectuals. That the Iranian regime, notoriously close to Russian intelligence, repeats the lies shouldn’t surprise anyone.
