Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Potty-mouthed 14-year-old anti-PC comedian with nearly 1million YouTube followers vows to keep making her videos after coming under fire for donning a hijab and mocking Muslims

    • Buzzfeed published an article attacking the teen YouTuber ‘Soph’ on Monday
    • Accused the 14-year-old girl of racism and hatred toward Muslims in her videos
    • Soph says her videos are comedy and a way to mock politically correct culture
    • YouTube responded by banning the video that Buzzfeed criticized
    • Conservative pundits accused journalists of trying to ‘hunt down kids’ to report

    — Hat tip: AF@GoV

Controversy is swirling around a foul-mouthed teen YouTuber after a journalist accused her of bigotry against Muslims and the platform removed the video under scrutiny.

The young YouTube star known as ‘Soph’, a 14-year-old high school freshman from the Bay Area, became the center of debate after a highly critical Buzzfeed article was published on Monday.

The article highlights a crude video called ‘Be Not Afraid,’ in which Soph dresses in a chador and explains sarcastically that she has become ‘devout follower of the Prophet Muhammad’ and laments that she gets ‘raped by my 40-year-old husband every so often’.

The rest of the 20-minute video goes on to blast internet outrage culture and encourage young people to speak their minds without fear of being offensive.

The video was banned for ‘violating the company’s policy on hate speech’ within a day of the Buzzfeed article, which blasted YouTube executives for allowing Soph’s channel and stirred a wave of online outrage.

The Buzzfeed article described Soph as ‘a cherubic white girl mocking Islamic dress while lecturing her hundreds of thousands of followers about Muslim ‘rape gangs,’ social justice ‘homos,’ and the evils wrought by George Soros.’

It points out instances in which the teen’s ‘comedy’ videos seem to veer into racism or anti-gay sentiments.

The author goes on to criticize YouTube for allowing Soph’s controversial videos, which the teen has defended as being comedic.

A YouTube spokesperson said in a statement to DailyMail.com: ‘YouTube is an open platform where anyone may post videos as long as they comply with our Community Guidelines. This may include content that some find offensive.

‘We enforce our policies rigorously and last quarter alone, removed more than 8 million videos. Responsibility remains our number one priority and we continue to invest heavily in our teams, technology and processes to protect the platform.’

According to YouTube, Soph’s channel had been reviewed and while two videos were removed, the company found that the vast majority of her videos did not violate their policies.

Soph, whose channel grew about 10 per cent to 880,000 followers in the day after the Buzzfeed article, responded in a tweet directed at the author, Joseph Bernstein.

‘I cannot thank you enough @Bernstein,’ she wrote.

Conservative commentators responded to the Buzzfeed article and the subsequent ban of the ‘Be Not Afraid’ video by accusing journalists of targeting the teen and attempting to get her banned.

‘There are adult “journalists” who hunt down kids on YouTube to report for [saying the] wrong thing. (Which in this case is biting social commentary and funnier than anything on network TV)’ wrote right-wing talk show host Dave Rubin on Twitter.

Soph got her start on YouTube not in politics, but as a nine-year-old video game streamer under the monicker ‘LtCorbis’.

She says she writes her scripts with a collaborator, and edits and scores her videos herself.

Last summer, another of her videos was banned after she threatened YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki over the platform shutting down comments on her videos.

‘Susan, I’ve known your address since last summer,’ Soph said in the video. ‘I’ve got a Luger and a mitochondrial disease. I don’t care if I live. Why should I care if you live or your children? I just called an Uber. You’ve got about seven minutes to draft up a will. … I’m coming for you, and it ain’t gonna be pretty.’

    SOPH’S BIGGEST CONTROVERSIES

† Last month it was revealed that Soph had called for the ‘mass genocide of Muslims’ on the gaming chat app Discord.

† ‘Please kill Muslims,’ she wrote in the rant, calling it a ‘service to society’.

† Soph, who admitted she had written the comments, also wrote that she hoped for a ‘Hitler for Muslims’ to ‘gas them all’.

† The YouTube star also came under fire for her video ‘Multiracial White Supremacy’.

† In the sketch video, Soph plays clips from a Dr Phil segment in which an African American teen said she did not identify as black.

† ‘African Americans are loud, rude, obnoxious, and just all together fat and ugly,’ the teen declares.

† ‘I thought she was supposed to be racist,’ replies Soph, acting as an FBI agent. ‘She’s just stating indisputable facts so far.’

† And last month after Soph’s comments were deactivated to help protect her from child exploitation, she threatened to kill YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki.

† ‘Susan, I’ve known your address since last summer,’ she said in the video. ‘I’ve got a Luger and a mitochondrial disease. I don’t care if I live.’

† ‘Why should I care if you live or your children? I just called an Uber. You’ve got about seven minutes to draft up a will. I’m coming for you, and it ain’t gonna be pretty.’

In the newly banned video, ‘Be Not Afraid’, Soph appears to drop her sarcastic persona at the very end and delivers a message vowing that she will not stop making videos.

‘You could beg me kicking and screaming to stop disseminating the ideas I believe in, and it wouldn’t make a f**king difference,’ she says.

‘Not only am I inoculated to that bulls**t, most of Gen Z is too. Millennials grew up with MTV and nowadays watch Colbert. We, on the other hand, grew up with the internet, so we have no centralized source of information that controls what we think,’ she continued.

‘We filter out the truth for ourselves; we’re not lazy. No one is brainwashing kids. Kids are simply learning from having free access to information, and there’s nothing you can do about it,’ Soph said.

She concluded: ‘If you’re still pretending to be mad at me…suck a fat c**k in hell. If you’re a Gen-Z-er, never censor yourself and speak freely until the day you die.’

NR: We all should be so fortunate to have such daughters. Were I her father, I’d walk through fire for the lass.

Remember, GlueTube, putting the “Demon” back in “Demonetization”.

This lassie’s language isn’t anything too, too (tutu?) uncommon these days—even from an otherwise demure young thing like Soph. Although I must say that I found that part about her having “a Luger and a mitochondrial disease” particulary, particularly … inspiring.

Her parents either are very proud or totally clueless and bewildered (As usual, I don’t see much in the way of middle ground here).

  2. Koran 5:32
“On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person – unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land – it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our apostles with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land.”

Anything revealed in the light of truth is classed as derogatory and therefore mischief. Therefore, death.

The Koran lifts straight from the Talmud:

“For this reason was man created alone, to teach thee that whosever destroys a single soul of Israel [of Israel is absent in some texts], scripture imputes (guilt) to him as though he had Destroyed a Complete World; and whosever preserves a single soul of Israel, scripture ascribes (merit) to him as though he had Preserved a Complete World [since all mankind originated from one man].” – Babylonian Talmud, Mishnah Sanhedrin 37a
    http://www.answeringmuslims.com/2010/05/quran-532-nazam-and-neglecting-context.html?m=1

And the taqiyya merchants continue with UK government funding to recruit children born into poverty and war.

“Here at Islamic Relief, we treasure the blessing of life given to us by Allah Almighty. In the Holy Qur’an, Allah (SWT) tells us:

“Whosoever saves a life, saves the whole of mankind.” (Qur’an 5: 32)”

“As a faith-based organisation, working to support the world’s most vulnerable people, we are inspired by this verse of the Qur’an.”
    https://www.islamic-relief.org.uk/can-you-be-532/?gclid=Cj0KCQjw2v7mBRC1ARIsAAiw34_qhnyTn8xoH2h15jmf1vQSDgux2DB1CN4wpd_HQx14zHr7X-ZLtzMaAld9EALw_wcB

And the punishment for any anti-islamic sentiment is in Koran 5:33.

“The punishment of those who wage war against God and His Apostle, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter.”

  6. Tehran Finds New Ways to Export Oil Amid US Pressure – Iranian Official (sputniknews, May 18, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/business/201905181075112512-iran-oil-new-destinations/

“Iranian oil exports have suffered a blow in May, sinking to 500,000 barrels a day or lower, amid the revival of the US sanctions against the Islamic republic. The International Energy Agency warned in its report issued this week that Iran’s oil production could slump in May to its record-low level since the 1980s.

Iran has rolled out a new strategy, finding new destinations for its oil exports in the wake of the sanctions which have been unilaterally reinstated by the United States, Maritime Affairs Deputy Director Hadi Haqshenas at Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization told the Iranian Labour News Agency (ILNA).

Haqshenas added that despite the drop in the loading of oil and oil products compared to the past, the transport of oil from Iranian ports has never stopped.

The senior maritime official provided no further details regarding the new tactics or destinations for the export of Iranian crude.

Following the 2018 US withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Cooperative Plan of Action on 8 May 2018, the Trump administration has told oil buyers around the world to cease doing business with Tehran by 1 May or face sanctions of their own.

Tehran, however, announced that it would continue to sell its oil, regardless of US pressure.

Exactly a year after the US pullout from the accord, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing sanctions on Iran related to iron, steel, aluminium, and copper.

On the same day, Iran announced its decision to partially discontinue its 2015 nuclear commitments.”

  7. Two Dead, Six Kidnapped in Terror Attack in South-West Libya – Security Source (sputniknews, May 18, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/africa/201905181075110616-libya-terror-attack/

“At least two people were killed and six kidnapped in a terrorist attack in Libya’s south-west, according to a source from the country’s security service.

“According to preliminary information, two people were killed and six people were kidnapped as a result of a terrorist attack aimed at the checkpoint of the Zella oil field owned by [Libyan oil] company Zueitina in the south-west of the country,” the source stated.

The Zella field has been closed for the last few years due to attacks by terrorist groups on Libyan oil fields. However, employees work in shifts to protect the area from vandalism and theft.

Tensions flared up in the country in early April. Back then, the Air Force of Libyan National Army (LNA) led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar launched an offensive to retake Tripoli from the forces loyal to the GNA. The LNA has already recaptured a number of settlements on its way to the capital, including the Tripoli International Airport, located around 20 miles away from the capital.

Since the overthrow and killing of Libya’s long-time leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011 Libya is currently divided into two parts — the internationally recognised and GNA headed by Fayez Sarraj in Tripoli and a parallel administration allied to Haftar in the east of the country.”

    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/group-arrests-raise-fears-fresh-crackdown-egypt-63120746

“An international rights group says the recent arrests of a rights lawyer and an activist have raised fears of a fresh crackdown by Egyptian authorities on dissent.

Amnesty International said late Friday that Egyptian prosecutors ordered this week Haitham Mohammdeen and Mustafa Maher to remain in custody for 15 days over charges of “aiding a terrorist group,” a reference to the banned Muslim Brotherhood organization.

The group says police arrested Mohammdeen after he was summoned Monday to a police station in Giza province, just south of Cairo, for accusations of violating probation terms. Maher was arrested on Tuesday at his home in a Cairo suburb.

Egyptian authorities, in an unprecedented crackdown on dissent in recent years, have often charged political opponents, even secular ones, with supporting the banned Islamist group.”

  10. Iran does not want war: Zarif (hurriyetdailynews, May 18, 2019)
    http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/iran-does-not-want-war-zarif-143529

“Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on May 18 he did not believe a war would break out in the region as Tehran did not want a conflict and no country had the “illusion it could confront Iran”, the state news agency IRNA reported.

Tensions have escalated in recent days, with growing concerns about a potential U.S.-Iran conflict. Earlier this week the United States pulled some diplomatic staff from its embassy in Baghdad following weekend attacks on four oil tankers in the Gulf.

“There will be no war because neither we want a war, nor has anyone the idea or illusion that it can confront Iran in the region,” Zarif told IRNA before ending his visit to Beijing.”

According to the report, the evacuation of staff members began on Friday and lasted through Saturday. Some of them were taken to Dubai, while others arrived at the main camp in Basra Province where the company’s employees reside.

  12. Political pitfalls: Iran tests ‘America First’ pledge

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump won the White House pledging to wind down the nation’s many foreign entanglements and put “America First.” But as his administration in recent days has sent mixed signals on the prospects of a military conflict with Iran, Trump’s campaign trail promise is being put to the test.

With the 2020 election approaching, the political pitfalls ahead for the first-term Republican president could be serious.

While Trump enjoys overwhelming support from his party, there is little appetite among his loyalists for a new military conflict in the Middle East. Many are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for now, but a string of recent moves has sparked concerns that the administration was beating the drums toward war. Among the possible precursors to military conflict: new sanctions on Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, the deployment of a U.S. aircraft carrier to the region and public warnings of unspecified intelligence that Iran might strike at American interests.

  13. US issues warning to airlines flying over Gulf

Washington (AFP) – The Federal Aviation Administration has warned US airlines flying over the Gulf to exercise caution “due to heightened military activities and increased political tensions in the region.”

The advisory, which also covers airspace over the Gulf of Oman, comes amid rising tensions between the US and Iran.

Increased tensions in the region “present an increasing inadvertent risk to US civil aviation operations due to the potential for miscalculation or mis-identification, said the FAA advisory released late Thursday.

The regulator also warned that aircraft flying in the area could encounter “inadvertent GPS interference and communications jamming, which could occur with little to no warning.”

Washington has deployed an aircraft carrier group and B-52 bombers to the region against what it claims is an imminent threat from Tehran.

  14. Austria: Vice-Chancellor Strache resigns over video scandal

Austrian Vice-Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache resigned after footage emerged of him offering contracts for support in elections, speaking at a press conference in Vienna on Saturday.

A widely-circulated video shows Strache allegedly accepting support in the elections from a woman claiming to have Russian ties in exchange for public contracts in 2017.

    • Martin’s news item above is, as far as the EU is concerned very very very seriously bad.

2 years ago he fell into a trap, deliberately created for him. The woman was a “Lockvogel”, the video was recorded illegally and without his knowledge. It happened during H.C. Strache’s holidays on Ibbizza after an alcohol-filled lunch (he speaks of 5 – 7 hours lunch).

The video was released right in time to the EU elections, ergo the “organisers” of this political assassination were sitting on it for quite a while.

H.C. Strache was behind the stronger measures taken against the islamisation of Austria by the flood of so-called “refugees”, he also was instrumental in banning the islamic veil in primary schools and was working towards several more measures of this kind.

The attack on his party (in coalition with the major ruling party of chancellor Kurz (*) had started when they (*) had tried to damage/ban the movement “Identitäre Bewegung”, especially their leader, Martin Sellner who, in my opinion is one of the most intelligent political minds I have come across. They threw everything at this young man trying to portray him and his movement as Nazis, Criminals, even terrorists. Martin Sellner predicted then already that “their” real target was H.C. Strache’s party – who was politically on the side of the young Identitaires. Chancellor Kurz had very quickly sided with those who wanted to destroy the Identitaires, calling for their banning.

Martin Sellner’s predictions seem to come through. This (the disappearance of a genuinely right wing conservative Austrian government) will be very bad for the group which is about to form at the EU with Salvini, Le Pen, etc.

I apologise for my poor prose and possibly convoluted explanation – it’s 1 am here in OZ – but it is very bad and urgent news before the “official” lies are being peddled. H.C. Strache is promising to take the “perpetrators” of these illegal actions to court, but I fear he is finished….and – depending on what new coalition partner Kurz will decide to take – so could the hope be that Austria has finally started to fight the “grand remplacement” of her people.

(*) Kurz: Personally I do not trust the nice, clean, fresh, genuinely conservative image that this young Austrian chancellor presents. Less than a 1 year ago, he was very much FOR more immigration, but what I found even more of a worry was the picture I have seen of him, drinking tea, in a rather cozy setting, with…….guess whom ? Yes, with Sorros.

Good night friends, Labor/Greens have lost the Australian Elections. Yayyyyyy !!! Scott Morrison is Australia’s new Prime Minister – he was in the team that “stopped the boats” (of illegal migrants)….I hope that he remains a true conservative and does not take a turn to the left.

        • PS: Personally I think H.C. Strache is a good man and genuinely on our side. (He may like the Alkohol a little too much…. but who is perfect ! )

          • Don’t forget that Churchill started his day with a shot of Brandy before Breakfast.

      • I apologise for my poor prose and possibly convoluted explanation – it’s 1 am here in OZ…

No, never! DO NOT apologize, Rita dear. By reading your few jottings above, I gathered more about the European (and Aussie) SNAFU than ever I get from ANY DOZEN MSM REPORTS. For that I’m grateful.

Too right on Morrison’s win, gel! Maybe there’s hope after all for you lot of galahs.

Speaking of historic happenings: Please accept my sincerest condolences on the passing of Foster’s Lager up against a dustbin into the hands of Carlton & United Breweries (and further on).

What was once a dew bespeckled, pinpoint carbonated, MIL-SPEC tube of the precious amber fluid in all its 26 Imperial fluid ounces of glory (which I am pictured swilling atop Half Dome in Yosemite) is now like making love in a redskin’s birchbark.*

        * — Namely, fucking close to water.

As to getting stonkered now and again:

        T = 00:00:06 – TSFW

      • Australian election. This is NOT a victory for conservative politics, it is a defeat for socialist green lunacy( they wanted to pay the UN 500million IIRC and worse) as the supposed “conservatives” are actually mostly globalists who while blocking the illegals have allowed too many legal muslims in with their families. It would appear that the electorate has woken up to the potential crisis and while no one really likes the LNP coalition they are seen to be better than the Marxist/green others. What is the pity, however necessary, is that most voters realized this, thus showing some hope for the future, and voted for a party that they dislike just to stop the labour lunatics. But the cost was that the truly conservative minor parties all suffered as a result with Fraser Anning losing his seat after his MSM political assassination. I would hope that the splinter conservatives all unite to form a coalition and actually become a force to balance the noxious greens but naturally the useless sods will never do this thus destroying any real chance of containing islam here as unless they can neutralize the greens they will have no effect on policy. However, overall, it is an index of the awareness of the electorate and that provides a shred of hope.

        • … Fraser Anning losing his seat after his MSM political assassination.

          SHIT!!!

          T = 00:04:44 – Hilariously NSFW – Profanity

        • Fraser Anning’s loss and the Austrian character assassination combined with the Australian victory by fake conservatives means we are having a bad time.

Don’t let these losses drive you into surrender mode, we are still in a position to win this war but we have to fight.

    • Austria: Protesters rally outside Federal Chancellery in wake of Strache video scandal

Hundreds of protesters gathered outside the Austrian Federal Chancellery in Vienna on Saturday to protest against the current government.

The demonstration comes in the wake of a domestic scandal involving Austria’s vice chancellor and leader of the right-wing Freedom Party (FPO), Heinz-Christian Strache, who was caught on tape allegedly accepting support in the elections from a woman claiming to have Russian ties in exchange for public contracts in 2017.

Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz is expected to make a statement later on Saturday amid speculation of a snap election only a year and a half after the coalition between his conservatives and the Freedom Party (FPO) was formed.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel urged to “stand up” to populist movements in Europe “decisively,” amid a video scandal involving former Austrian Vice-Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache that resulted in his resignation. She spoke at a press conference alongside Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic in Zagreb on Saturday.

Merkel said that Europe is “dealing with populist movements” that “want to destroy” the EU’s shared values. She noted that “this [the rise of populist movements] includes that minorities are not being protected, that fundamental human rights are being questioned, that corruption in politics plays a role.”

  15. Putin hails new Russian laser weapons

MOSCOW (AP) — President Vladimir Putin says that new types of laser weapons developed in Russia will significantly enhance the nation’s military capability.

Speaking during Friday’s meeting with top officials, Putin specifically mentioned the Peresvet, the military’s first laser weapon that entered service last fall.

Peresvet is a high-energy laser, whose specific data and purpose have remained secret. It’s believed to be capable of blinding enemy electro-optical devices and downing drones.

Putin told officials that some other new laser weapons under development “until just recently only figured in science fiction.” He added that such weapons “will determine the combat potential of the Russian army and navy for decades ahead.”

    • Peresvet is a high-energy laser, whose specific data and purpose have remained secret. It’s believed to be capable of blinding enemy electro-optical devices and downing drones.

Ho hum. Somebody please nudge-nudge me when Russia is giving sales demonstrations of DEWs (Directed Energy Weapons) at the Paris Air Show. Until then, it’s all (literally) smoke and mirrors … especially that part about first-surface mirrors.

NOTE: — In my private collection of laboratory-grade optics – along with my self-designed tertiary Lissajous pattern reflection generator – is both a cache of first surface mirrors (personally coated in a LH Z-600 inert gas PVD sputtering reactor) along with many beam sources, including my classic, ceramic-sealed, Spectra Physics 5mw HeNe and its muscular daddy, a blinding-power 20mw Argon gas laser. Now all I need is a nice big honking honeycomb breadboard optical bench – with its grid of a bazillion 1/4-20 threadwells – so that I can begin my campaign of world domination investigations into phonon-liquid acoustic emission signatures!

ACCORDING to Tass and Pravda, Russia (really!) has led research into chemical lasers (e.g., gas-phase iodine, fluorine, hydrogen, etc). However, well over a decade ago America started lofting an experimental, flight-capable DEW platform, the (now retired) Boeing YAL-1 Airborne Laser Testbed. It carried a 1315 nanometer, megawatt-class Chemical Oxygen–Iodine Laser (COIL) that was mounted on a Boeing 747-400F airframe. This design succeeded Boeing’s original 1980s NKC-135A ABL (Airborne Laser).

NOTE: — Picture a twin-tank scuba pack that feeds out into a pneumatic speargun instead of a respiration regulator’s mouthpiece. Each tank holds a separate binary-reactive-gas component (e.g., oxygen–iodine) which gets mixed in bursts that violently luminesce. This optical speargun launches pulses (i.e., concentrated packets) of coherent light. An idealized binary precursor model like this avoids the energy hogging electrical load and power plant of more common excimer lasers while (like a man-packed flamethrower) being better suited for missions requiring agility and portability. —

UNFORTUNATELY, the reality is far more complex (from Wiki):

The [chemical gas] laser is fed with gaseous chlorine, molecular iodine, and an aqueous mixture of hydrogen peroxide and potassium hydroxide. The aqueous peroxide solution undergoes chemical reaction with chlorine, producing heat, potassium chloride, and oxygen in excited state, singlet delta oxygen. Spontaneous transition of excited oxygen to the triplet sigma ground state is forbidden giving the excited oxygen a spontaneous lifetime of about 45 minutes. This allows the singlet delta oxygen to transfer its energy to the iodine molecules injected to the gas stream; they are nearly resonant with the singlet oxygen, so the energy transfer during the collision of the particles is rapid. The excited iodine then undergoes stimulated emission and lases at 1.315 µm in the optical resonator region of the laser.

FROM: Lockheed Martin to empower US Army with 60 kW Laser cannon

Back then, Lockheed Martin used a 30 kW laser. This time, it was able to fire off a laser along the 58 kW range, nearly double that of the 2015 demonstration. The company achieved this by using a beam combine fiber laser system that practically gathered individual lasers from fiber optics into a single, intense beam.

NR: For those familiar with ruggedized field optics, the opening citation delivers a glimpse into the actual build of Lockheed Martin’s DEW system. Like a server farm’s RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) hard drive array, imagine (what probably are) individual sub-sources of HBLEDs (High Brightness Light Emitting Diodes) that are subsequently braided into the challah from hell [winks at yucki].

NOTE: — The previous link is to an image of a laser LED brick used in optically confined fusion experiments being conducted at America’s NIF (National Ignition Facility). As in: Wave your hand through that brick’s output beam and fetch back a charred stump. —

THE BEAUTY of LM’s design is that each laser head (i.e., the individual beams’ point of emergence) need not be located near the vehicle’s hull. Instead, fiber optic “light pipes” are used like an automotive outtake manifold to entrain the light paths. This ganging approach coalesces the separate death rays deep inside a platform’s armored innards (technical engineering term) and has only an easily replaced photonic conduit that exits at (presumably—although in this age of computer-aided targeting it’s anyone’s guess) a key alignment point on the airframe.

This is both convenient and extremely valuable in terms of providing a coaxial line-of-fire emerging from the weapons cluster. A prime example of this is Skunk Factory genius, Kelly Johnson, and his design for the world’s first 400 MPH (644 KPH) aircraft. Arguably, one of the most stunningly beautiful and versatile prop-driven airplanes in all aviation history, the Lockheed P-38 Lightning. A little history is in order…

TREMBLING Japanese kamikaze called it, “One pilot, two planes”. With twin 1,000 horsepower, 12 cylinder, Allison V-1710 power plants relocated to wing positions, the 20 mm air cannon and a quadmount .50 Browning M2 Heavy Barrel Air Cooled Machine Gun package (nicknamed by GIs, the “meat chopper” and “Krautmower”) were mounted in the plane’s (now-vacated) nose and directly aligned with the pilot’s line-of-sight.

So does the fiber laser allow for this more instinctive and intuitive lineup of weapons and flier—even as it provides a better-hardened and serviceable weapon. As in: One that avoids niggling little issues like insanely volatile, highly reactive, deadly poisonous, precursor agents.

Hey! Look at it this way, if the crash doesn’t kill you, a breath of any secondary releases from that gas laser cooking off will cauterize your lungs anyway.

IN A TRIBUTE to Johnson’s mastery, below is a short clip detailing how his team overcame transonic compressiblity effects and created what can only be called a timeless warbird. This magnificent beast flew in every theater of WWII from the Aleutian Islands to Africa, shot down Yamamoto’s plane, while performing in everything from reconnaissance and escort duties to flying missions as ship-killing dive-bombers and air combat dogfighters.

This closing snippet is worth watching, if only for the half-minute cavalcade of drop-dead gorgeous planes he designed to make sure that American air power ruled the skies.

      T = 00:03:58 – TSFW

      • The “Fork Tailed Devil” (another Japanese Name for the P38) was the only US fighter that was in the US inventory at the beginning and the end of WWII. There are only 4 or 5 original P38s still in existence, but you can by a brand new custom made one for a couple of million. Reports that I have heard say that with modern propellers and engines it comes close to breaking the Sound Barrier when flying at around 20,000 foot.

A good friend of mine (who has a pilots license) and I were watching some WWII training videos about the Fighters, he keep saying I can fly that one until he hit the P38 video. He said that he wanted a lot of training before he flew that one, it was a hotter plane then any he had flown, and he had flown several WWII fighters.

  16. ROBOT WARS China unveils terrifying new armoured truck which launches swarms of killer drones to attack its enemies

The war machine – based on a Russian Tigr vehicle – can direct the drones so they simultaneously converge on targets and detonate their explosive payloads

The mighty YJ2080 is equipped with 12 launch tubes – four for reconnaissance drones and the other eight for explosive laden drones which can travel at 110mph.

Its mission will be to eliminate targets beyond traditional line of sight and kill from above with four pound bombs.

The truck’s deadly drone system can search for and destroy its own targets, reports Popular Mechanics.

Earlier this year, China revealed a lethal fully autonomous drones that can carry out targeted military strikes

The killer drones and pilotless aircraft are fitted with AK-47 rifles and are already being exported to combat zones in the Middle East.

US national security think tank Center for a New American Security (CNAS) said in a report that Chinese officials see this AI ‘arms race’ as a threat to global peace.

  17. Secret tracking device found in Navy email to Navy Times amid leak investigation raises legal, ethical questions

A Navy prosecutor last week sent an email to the editor of Navy Times that was embedded with a secret digital tracking device. The tracking device came at a time when the Naval Criminal Investigative Service is mounting an investigation into media leaks surrounding the high-profile court-martial of a Navy SEAL accused of war crimes.

That email, from Navy prosecutor Cmdr. Christopher Czaplak to Navy Times editor Carl Prine, came after several months of Navy Times reporting that raised serious questions about the Navy lawyers’ handling of the prosecution in the war crimes case.

When asked about the email Czaplak sent to Prine, NCIS spokesman Jeff Houston said Thursday that “during the course of the leak investigation, NCIS used an audit capability that ensures the integrity of protected documents. It is not malware, not a virus, and does not reside on computer systems. There is no risk that systems are corrupted or compromised.”

The Navy’s top spokesman, Capt. Greg Hicks, declined to comment on the email device targeting Navy Times but acknowledged that the Navy is conducting “an ongoing investigation into the unauthorized disclosure of information covered by a judge’s protective order.” Hicks said the investigation is being conducted by the NCIS.

Czaplak is the lead prosecutor in two related war crimes cases involving Navy special warfare personnel.

Special Operations Chief Edward Gallagher, has pleaded not guilty to a murder count in the death of an injured teenage militant he allegedly stabbed to death in 2017 in Iraq. Gallagher’s platoon’s commanding officer, Lt. Jacob Portier, is fighting charges of conduct unbecoming an officer for allegedly conducting Gallagher’s re-enlistment ceremony next to the corpse.

The case has become so high-profile that it has even drawn the attention of President Donald Trump, who ordered Gallagher moved from the brig to a hospital complex.

And now the case has raised questions about how far the Navy will go in pursuing leaks and whether the government is illegally spying on journalists and defense attorneys in the case.

The Navy email to Navy Times contained hidden computer coding designed to extract the IP address of the Navy Times computer network and to send that information back to a server located in San Diego. Under U.S. criminal law, authorities normally have to obtain a subpoena or court order to acquire IP addresses or other metadata. Not using one could be a violation of existing privacy laws, including the Electronic Communications Privacy Act.

Defense attorneys involved in the SEALs’ war crimes cases have said that 13 lawyers and paralegals on their team also received emails with a similar tracking device, according to court documents filed by the defense attorneys.

In response to the receipt of the emails with tracking devices, defense attorneys have filed motions accusing prosecutors of misconduct for sending the emails. They demanded that no more be sent, and are seeking a halt in proceedings until after an investigation can be completed. Defense attorneys also want a public hearing before a military judge to address the question of how and why prosecutors deployed emails with tracking devices.

Tim Parlatore, attorney for Gallagher, whose case is covered by the gag order imposed by Navy Judge Capt. Aaron Rugh, told Military Times he has filed a motion calling for, among other things, the case to be dismissed and a full investigation into the emails by neutral parties.

“It is illegal for the government to use [the emails] in the way they did without a warrant,” he said. “What this constitutes is a warrantless surveillance of private citizens, including the media, by the military. We should all be terrified,” Parlatore said.

“Every Navy sailor should be terrified of whether they can get a fair trial in the Navy justice system,” Parlatore said. “The only way they can ever have confidence in their own system is by full disclosure of what is going on.”

Parlatore said that Czaplak admitted in court on May 10 that he sent the emails containing tracking devices.

Czaplak, through a spokesman, declined comment.

Gallagher’s court-martial trial is scheduled to begin on May 28.

Hicks told Military Times that Navy Secretary Richard V. Spencer “is monitoring what’s going on” with the NCIS investigation and the resulting concerns of spying on attorneys and a journalist, which was raised in defense motions and first reported by the Associated Press.

“Ultimately, this is about Senior Chief Gallagher receiving a fair trial with due process in the military justice system,” Hicks said, adding that Rugh, presiding over the Gallagher case, was concerned about leaks in a case covered by a gag order.

“Following continuing and ongoing violations of the federal protective order, NCIS initiated a separate investigation into violations of that protective order,” Hicks said. “That investigation is ongoing. All NCIS investigations are conducted in accordance with applicable laws, properly coordinated and executed with appropriate oversight. The government is acting appropriately as part of a lawful, authorized and legitimate investigation into the unauthorized disclosure of information associated with the Gallagher case.”

Hicks would not state for the record whether the Navy obtained a search warrant or subpoena in connection with the emails with tracking devices.

Though Navy Times received one of the emails with a tracking device, Hicks emphasized that the media is not being targeted.

“The media was not it and is not the focus of the investigation,” he said. “The focus of the investigation is squarely on identifying unauthorized disclosures that violate the judge’s protective order.”

But the issue is raising concerns with press freedom groups.

“By using this tool, if the prosecutor was able to intercept email content, that could potentially be a direct Fourth Amendment violation, even if what the prosecutors got was just the metadata, namely the IP address,” said Gabe Rottman, the director of the Technology and Press Freedom Project at the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, a not-for-profit legal services group.

Rottman said his level of concern depends on the nature of the tool used in the emails.

Hicks, however, offered few details about the email received by Prine, what kind of technology was used, how long the investigation has been ongoing, whether the U.S. Attorneys Office or any other civilian court was involved in approving the use of the tracking device or whether any other journalists have received emails with similar tracking devices.

Hicks declined to say whether there is any Navy policy regulating the sending of such emails. Nor would he rule out the Navy sending out emails with tracking devices in the future.

“I am not speculating on the future,” he said. “I don’t know what will arise. If I did I would buy a lottery ticket.”

    What was it?

Emails with tracking devices have the been subject of legal proceedings in the civilian world.

That’s where Parlatore first encountered them. A few months back, while investigating a client who was being stalked, Parlatore said he learned the suspected stalker knew the victim’s whereabouts because he had sent the victim an email containing a tracking device that gathered up the location and other information from the victim’s phone.

As a result, when Parlatore received the first of three emails from Czaplak containing an unusual logo of an American flag with a bald eagle perched on the scales of justice beneath the prosecutor’s signature on May 8, Parlatore said it immediately raised red flags.

The next day, Parlatore responded to Czaplak with an email of his own.

“I am writing regarding your emails from yesterday, which contained an embedded image that was not contained in any of your previous emails,” Parlatore wrote. “At the risk of sounding paranoid, this image is not an attachment, but rather a link to an unsecured server which, if downloaded, can be used to track emails, including forwards. I would hope that you aren’t looking to track emails of defense counsel, so I wanted to make sure there wasn’t a security breach on your end. Given the leaks in this case, I am sure you can understand.”

A few hours later, Czaplak responded to Parlatore, telling him he would get back to him “ASAP.”

On May 10, Air Force Lt. Col. Nicholas McCue, an attorney for Portier, received an email on his military computer system from Czaplak, also containing the unusual logo beneath the prosecutor’s signature.

Finding that suspicious, McCue contacted his Air Force communications squadron, according to court documents filed by the defense.

“He was instructed that the embedded image contained a cyber-tool known as a ‘splunk’ tool,’ which can allow the originator full access to his computer, and all the files on the computer,” according to a Portier defense motion filed Tuesday. “The Air Force Information Systems Security Manger advised McCue to stop using the NIPR network for communications pertaining to the Portier case.” The NIPR network is the military’s network for unclassified material.

In an email on that same day, Daniel Harrison, Information Systems Security Manager for the Cybersecurity Office with the 60th Communications Squadron at Travis Air Force Base told McCue that the email from Czaplak could contain one of several types of cyber tools.

Harrison was so concerned about the email received by McCue that he urged him to use the military’s Secret Internet Protocol Router Network, known as the SIPR, which is far more secure than the Non-classified Internet Protocol Router, or NIPR.

“I would strongly recommend using SIPR or a system that is not on the NIPR network for communications that pertain to this case,” Harrison urged McCue.

The same day McCue and the other defense attorneys and staff received the email from Czaplak, Prine, the Navy Times editor, got one too.

Will Alexander, vice president for technology and engineering for Sightline Media, the parent company for Navy Times and Military Times, examined that email and said it contained a tracking beacon pointing to an IP address assigned to Cox Cable Modem customers in the San Diego area, where the cases against Gallagher and Portier are being tried.

“We suspect the sender likely intended to correlate an IP address with Carl’s email account,” he said. “This correlation can be used to then track Carl’s past and future access to other systems within the tracker’s control.”

Beyond that, Alexander said that Sightline Media has no evidence of any attempt to take additional data from Prine’s computer or the company’s internal systems.

    So how bad is this?

The prosecution’s attempt to track the emails of defense attorneys and media has several chilling effects.

The tracking devices and their underlying technology originated as a marketing tool allowing companies to gather information from customers. By clicking on a box to see a photograph, for instance, the recipients are sending metadata to a server for collection.’

But when used for law enforcement, the tracking takes on a more nefarious connotation.

In the judicial part of this equation, tracking devices give the user an unfair advantage in court proceedings. If you know who your opposing counsel is contacting, you can divine how they are building their case and find ways to counter it.

Last year, the Illinois Bar Association became the fourth such organization to rule that emails like the one received by the defense attorneys and Prine are unethical for a variety of reasons, according to Mark C. Palmer, Professionalism Counsel under the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism. Bar associations in Alaska, Pennsylvania and New York, where Czaplak was admitted to the bar in 2009 according to state records, have previously reached the same conclusion.

The Illinois State Bar Association opinion concludes that, “at a minimum, the use of such tools by counsel in communications with other lawyers constitutes dishonesty or deceit under Illinois Rule of Professional Conduct,” Palmer wrote in a blog entry on attorneyatwork.com, a discussion site for the legal profession. “Such deception can penetrate the attorney-client relationship of the receiving lawyer and that lawyer’s client to potentially, and likely, divulge protected, extraordinary insight that might not only be protected, but might be quite relevant to the matter.”

As for journalists, the email received by Prine may be unchartered territory, said Rottman of the Reporters Committee.

“This is the first case I am aware of that something like this has happened,” Rottman said. “If a prosecutor sent an email to a reporter with a tracking device intending to identify a leak, that is certainly concerning.”

Rottman said the emails in question raise two main concerns.

The first is the chilling effect on the news gathering process and the free flow of information.

“Reporters rely on confidential sources and confidential disclosures of information to do their jobs,” he said. “Any law enforcement scrutiny of unauthorized disclosure has a potentially chilling effect on news gathering.”

In addition to gaining information about Prine’s communications on this case, Rottman said emails with tracking software could affect sources in cases having nothing to do with this.

“If it is true that a government official included tracking software in an email to a reporter surreptitiously to find out who the reporter is talking to,” he said, “that potentially exposes that reporter’s other sources in totally unrelated cases to government scrutiny.”

The other line of concern, said Rottman, is cybersecurity.

“It is interesting that the information assurance personnel suggest that the defense counsel bump their communications to a more secure network,” said Rottman after being shown an email, contained in court filings, from the Air Force cyber expert offering advice to a defense lawyer on what to do about the email received from Czaplak.

Whether any of this is illegal depends on the device used, said Rottman.

“There are all kinds of questions that come into play here,” said Rottman, “with respect to the Fourth Amendment,” which protects against unlawful search and seizure.

“If the Department of Justice were seeking to do this in a criminal leak investigation, it would likely have to get a court order or use a subpoena even to get the metadata under the Electronic Communications Privacy Act,” Rottman said.

Kelly Thornton, spokeswoman for the U.S Attorneys Office for the Southern District of California said her office is not handling the Gallagher court-martial proceedings “and is not involved in the production or dissemination of discovery in that case.”

Sri Sridharan, managing director and chief operating officer for the Florida Center for Cybersecurity at the University of South Florida, said the tracking emails sent out by Czaplak seem to be breaking new ground that cries out for legislative action.

“Lawyers will have a field day with this,” he said. “Congress needs to pay attention and bring about some serious legislation in cybersecurity.”

  18. Dems unanimous as House passes bill forcing schools to let males compete in female sports
By Daily Caller News Foundation May 18, 2019

The Democratically controlled House of Representatives voted Friday 236-173 in favor of the Equality Act, which would require schools to include male athletes who identify as transgender girls on female sports teams.

Eight Republicans crossed party lines to vote for the bill, which had unanimous Democratic support.

The bill amends the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to make “sexual orientation and gender identity” protected characteristics under federal anti-discrimination law.

Among other things, that would force public schools to expand female athletic teams to include biological males who identify as transgender girls.

  19. Australia switches off jihadwatch.org (jihadwatch, May 18, 2019)
    https://www.jihadwatch.org/2019/05/australia-switches-off-jihadwatch-org

“Today I had a couple of reports that this site was not accessible in Australia. They started in early morning, so I suspect that something happened overnight. We know that the majority of internet service providers in both Australia and New Zealand had started a month ago, described here at privateinternetaccess.com as “ISPs in AU and NZ start censoring the internet without legal precedent”.

Initially it was only sites that had hosted the shootings in Christchurch, and was reported to be only temporary.

In New Zealand, mobile internet service providers take it upon themselves to enact censorship

Starting over the weekend, Spark NZ, Vodafone NZ, and Vocus NZ were the three New Zealand ISPs that have taken it upon themselves to block these sites. On their part, the ISPs and smartphone network providers are claiming that these are only temporary blocks. Temporary blocks that have lasted multiple days – more than long enough to change people’s’ browsing habits. Even the perpetrators of this censorship are aware how unprecedented it is. Geoff Thorn, a chief executive at New Zealand Telecommunications Forum (TCF), commented to CIO:

This site and none of it’s authors have ever advocated violence as a solution, and commenters that do are actively removed, and it was never even suggested that the site host or link to the footage of the shooting.

They lied, they expanded the censorship and it’s no longer looking temporary. Only a couple of days ago the Daily Mail quantified the damage that Google is doing with their biased algorithm here. It’s a death by a thousand cuts, and they get deeper with every slash.

So that’s where we are today, Jihad Watch has again become a victim of fascist censorship, a whole continent blocked from hearing any opposing views of Islam or discussion of jihad. The narrative will be in the hands of big tech and those in power.

The blocking method they have used is very low tech, and thankfully for now easily bypassed. Ten years ago I was sharing this link with dissidents in Iran and family in Turkey. use.opendns.com or if that’s blocked just these numbers in a browser 208.69.38.205 provides instructions on how to bypass this method of censorship. Keep them handy, the free internet is getting much smaller at a faster pace, so you never know when you might need them. This is often the first method that fascist regimes use to censor the internet. Once they get comfortable with it, such as China, North Korea and Iran, they have more aggressive censorship methods, but that takes time to deploy.

Jihad Watch actually always has, or I should say had, quite a large viewership in Australia. They were very active here as commenters. I get to see the new guys’ comments get caught in our moderation system when I check them each morning (there’s a 12 hour time difference).

Hopefully those that have access can spread the word on how to bypass those blocks, a VPN will also work, and has the benefit of always bypassing censorship and ensuring privacy, VladTepes discusses that here as he had similar reports from his visitors.

2 years ago we found that many ISPs in the UK and a few in the rest of Europe were doing the same. I offered this advice then.

I am very disappointed with EFF, an organisation describing themselves as “The leading nonprofit defending digital privacy, free speech, and innovation.”, although acknowledge and are aware of the scale of this misuse of power, only describing the following as “The Ugly”…

The Call asks companies to take “transparent, specific measures” to prevent the upload of terrorist and violent extremist content and prevent its dissemination “in a manner consistent with human rights and fundamental freedoms.” But as numerous civil society organizations pointed out in the May 14 meeting, upload filters are inherently inconsistent with fundamental freedoms. Moreover, driving content underground may do little to prevent attacks and can even impede efforts to do so by making the perpetrators more difficult to identify.

We also have grave concerns about how “terrorism” and “violent extremism” are defined, by whom. Companies regularly use blunt measures to determine what constitutes terrorism, while a variety of governments—including Call signatories Jordan and Spain—have used anti-terror measures to silence speech.

It must be obvious that sites such as Jihadwatch.org are not even close to “terrorist and violent extremist content”. It’s just news and discussion, mostly sourced from mainstream media or regional news. What are EFF scared of ? they won’t cite an example, and there are many. Is free speech only protected for those they agree with now?”

  20. US School Accused of Racism Over ‘Muslim’ Headwear in Active Shooter Drill (sputniknews, May 18, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/us/201905181075120069-video-muslim-attacker-active-shooter-drill-pennsylvania/

“Active shooter drills are a common thing in the United States, where school shootings have been an unsettling trend, but one such event in Pennsylvania stirred strong criticism after it appeared that the mock attacker was made to look like a Muslim.

A Pennsylvania school district is at the centre of a scandal after officials were accused of racial stereotyping during active shooter response training.

Screen captures of a video produced by Penn Trafford School District and circulated on social media this week show the person portraying the attacker wearing what looks like a keffiyeh, an Arab headscarf.

Online activists were quick to kick off a petition, demanding an apology to students and the community from the school district and the police department that helped organise the drill.

“To the extent that the drill was an attempt to prepare staff and others for the possibility of an active shooter, having a member of the staff wear a keffiyeh was incredibly misguided. More importantly, it was racist. It perpetuates the misguided notion that Muslims in the United States are responsible for crimes such as these, when crime statistics prove otherwise,” reads the petition.

The Islamic Centre of Pittsburgh, meanwhile, said the portrayal of the shooter as a Muslim was “appalling” and put the local Muslim community “in great harm”.

According to a press release by Penn Trafford School District, the drill took place in January and was intended for future staff training but not for publishing.

“As a part of the drill, two teacher volunteers with experience handling firearms, were tasked with the role as active shooters. These volunteers were provided costumes and accessories by the consultant group to alter their appearance so that they were not readily recognisable by their co-workers. There was no intent to represent any particular culture or religion,” officials said.

One of the volunteers, they added, donned a paintball mask with a blonde wig and wore the headscarf.

“There was no intent by the District, police department or consultant as part of the training to provide an identity to the volunteers as anything other than an active shooter,” says the statement.

A man linked with the drill told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review newspaper that the “attacker” was going to play in another scenario that was eventually scrapped, and his costume was never approved.”

    • Italy: Salvini stages European far-right rally in Milan

Italian Interior Minister and League party leader Matteo Salvini staged a rally for far-right movements from 12 European countries in Milan’s Duomo Square on Saturday, ahead of next week’s European parliamentary elections.

Salvini was joined on stage by French National Rally party leader Marien Le Pen, as well as politicians including German Federal spokesperson for Alternative for Germany (AFD) Jorg Meuthen and Dutch Party for Freedom leader Geert Wilders.

  27. NETHERLANDS – JUSTICE MINISTRY HIDING SERIOUS CRIMES COMMITTED BY ASYLUM SEEKERS: REPORT

The Ministry of Justice and Security hid the number of serious crimes committed by asylum seekers in the Netherlands by including crimes like sexual offenses, aggravated assaults, and murder and manslaughter or attempts thereto under the heading of “other” in figures released to parliament, the Telegraaf reports.

Earlier this week State Secretary Mark Harbers released police figures on crimes committed by asylum seekers last year, but the above mentioned serious crimes were not mentioned in the report. This is because these crimes were included in the “other” category, the Telegraaf writes after checking the figures with police. According to the newspaper, it concerns 79 sexual offenses, 51 aggravated assaults, and 31 suspicions of murder and manslaughter or attempts thereto.

When asked why these crimes were not explicitly mentioned in the report, Harbers’ department said hat this involved “not proven cases” and they were trying to make sure the overview is not inexhaustibly long, according to newspaper AD. The final overview consisted of one column on half an A4 in the over 50 pages long report, the newspaper writes.

The report showed that the police responded a total of 4,600 times last year to reports of crimes committed by asylum seekers. This mainly involved crimes like shoplifting or pickpocketing, but also assault, threats and vandalism. Of these cases, 2,610 ended up with the Public Prosecutor. It concerns a total of 1,710 suspects, so many of them were suspected of more than one offense.

The Telegraaf’s revelation led to angry reactions from the Tweede Kamer, the lower house of Dutch parliament. CDA parliamentarian Madeleine van Toorenburg asked Harbers for clarification, pointing out that the Ministry was previously under fire about a report on crimes around a asylum centers, AD reports. “Then too we were fooled by studies that would show it was not all that bad. That analysis was also incorrect because many had been left out of consideration. This requires clarification. I submitted a debate request because we can only make policy based on complete and honest figures.”

SP parliamentarian Jasper van Dijk called it “painful” that the Ministry did not immediately release all the figures. “I will call on Harbers about that. The Kamer must have all the information for the correct approach to criminal asylum seekers. This is necessary to maintain support for the reception of refugees.”

PVV MP Sietse Fritsma told AD that “facts are being brushed away”. “This cabinet wants to make people believe that the consequences of the migration are not so bad. That is pure deception. The inability to tackle perpetrators is thus disguised.”

The conservatives (named the Liberal party) in Australia pulled off a stunning upset in the national elections on Saturday.

The Labour party was ahead by 8 points in the polls.

Just like in the United States the media was hurt the most.

Richard: The polls including the exit polls showed Labor winning easily but once again when the voters got inside the voting booth they voted the way the believed but were afraid to talk about. This is why the polls that show the Dems winning in 2020 aren’t to be believed. The polls taken in the big cities are normally taken in liberal neighborhoods and they show the liberals winning every time. When you get out away from the big cities where people are not afraid to speak their mind the polls turn around. Look at the small crowds that the Dems draw when they hold rallies or give speeches and then look at the crowds that Trump draws.

In the entire anglophone world when the votes are honestly counted and the voters for the populists and conservatives haven’t been suppressed freedom wins. Everyone on VTB who keep saying we are losing need to rethink their positions because the data points say we are winning, slowly but winning. We are products of the Movie and TV generations and those mediums have taught us to subconsciously believe that all problems can be solved in 2 hours less commercials.

  30. Obama spymasters point fingers amid Russia probe review: ‘Throwing each other under the bus’

The launch of a formal inquiry into the origins of the Russia investigation — being led by one of the Justice Department’s toughest prosecutors — has touched off a new round of behind-the-scenes finger-pointing among Obama administration officials who could have some explaining to do about efforts to surveil the Trump campaign.

A key dispute that flared this week concerns whether then-FBI Director James Comey or then-CIA Director John Brennan — or both of them — pushed the unverified Steele dossier containing claims about President Trump and his relationship to Russia. The dossier’s more sensational claims were never substantiated by Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team.

Attorney General Bill Barr, in an exclusive interview with Fox News, said the country must know “exactly what happened” with counterintelligence activities conducted during the 2016 election — and he is determined to get to the bottom of the case.

In his first interview since becoming attorney general, Barr spoke to “America’s Newsroom” host Bill Hemmer during a visit to El Salvador for meetings with law enforcement officials. In pointed terms, he fired back at Democrats who have castigated him over his handling of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report — calling Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s charge that he lied to Congress “laughable” and dismissing an attempt to hold him in contempt of Congress.

“That’s part of the usual … political circus that’s being played out. It doesn’t surprise me,” he said.

And the nation’s top law enforcement official provided new details about the recently announced probe into the origins of the Russia investigation, defending his decision to pursue it and stressing that many of the answers he’s gotten so far have been “inadequate.”

Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may have an Amazon-sized problem when she seeks reelection in the state’s 14th District in 2020.

Washington, D.C.-based attorney Dan Backer, founder of the Stop The AOC PAC, spoke to The Daily Caller about recent polling data from the self-proclaimed Democratic Socialist’s home turf.Backer began by explaining what drove him to create a PAC to challenge Ocasio-Cortez in the first place: “My family came from Russia when I was a baby, and I grew up hearing what they went through. And I have a strong dislike for that ideology.”

Quoting a line often repeated by former President Ronald Reagan — who got it from 18th-century Anglo-Irish statesman Edmund Burke — Backer noted, “‘The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.’ Someone had to stand up and do something. If we don’t challenge socialism, we let it win.”

What Backer did was send people into Ocasio-Cortez’ district. “We did robocalls and text message polling and compared the data. We expected to see some variation, but the data was almost identical.”

  35. Austrian Government Collapses After Two-Year-Old Video Dropped on Far Right Leader Just Days before EU Elections – Police Suspect Western Intelligence Involved

Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz called for snap elections after a two-year-old video was released in the German press showing coalition partner Heinz-Christian Strache discussing contracts with a woman posing as a Russian oligarch’s niece.

Here is a first account from my cousin, translated
The Austrian right-wing government has resigned — as soon as possible new elections are pending.

The German media released a two-year-old video, which they leaked, anonymously. The video shows a conversation between two gov’t politicians (the Vice Chancellor and one more) while on vacation in Ibiza. The conversation was secretly filmed. NOW, after 2 years the video was leaked to two German newspapers, two far left newspapers

In the video, the two politicians behave like pubescent adolescents and developed wild political fantasies and claimed support by a few major industrialists…………. Alcohol was in the game and also a beautiful woman.

It was embarrassing to look at it, especially when you know that they are statesmen.

It would be interesting to discover who is behind the video, possibly the Germans themselves – SPD/lefties, or the Vienna SPÖ/lefties? Hopefully it will be announced as soon as possible and BEFORE the elections, but that is not likely.

    • After reading the entire article remember that at least one and probably more Western European Intelligence Agencies was involved in the framing of General Flynn, Pappdoplous (sp?) and the creation of the Steele Dossier. Also remember that the Russian Sources that provided the information the Dossier was formed around was provided by current and former Russian Intelligence personal.

The Radical Left in the Western Governments are working together to bring down the west and from what I have seen are working with Russians (who are probably far left in their politics) to destroy the West. I don’t know how involved Putin is but nothing like this would be done by Russian Intelligence without Putin’s knowledge.

I doubt Putin wants to destroy the US (the way the American Radical Left wants to destroy us) but he does want us weakened to the point that the Russian Military is once agin equal with the US military. This would create a world with 3 Great Powers (the US, Russia and China) and two wanna be Great Powers in the MIdeast (Iran and Turkey).

  37. EXCLUSIVE: Senate Republicans Trash Democrats For ‘Unprecedented Obstruction’ In New Video

Senate Republicans are knocking Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for “unprecedented obstruction” of Trump nominees in a new video Wednesday.

The Senate Republican Communications Center points out in the video, which was provided exclusively to The Daily Caller, that Democratic filibusters on Trump nominees have forced a historic number of cloture votes in the Senate.

The motion for cloture is a tool to limit debate on nominees, and is typically used to end a filibuster or other procedural techniques used by the opposition to delay or block a nominee.

During his first two years in office, President Donald Trump’s judicial and executive nominees have faced 128 cloture votes. Comparatively, just 12 nominees faced cloture votes during President Barack Obama’s first two years. (RELATED: Democrats Will Filibuster Gorsuch Nomination)

That means Trump’s nominees have faced more than 10 times the number of cloture votes than Obama’s nominees.

“For the past two years, Senate Democrats have engaged in systematic, unprecedented obstruction by delaying qualified, uncontroversial nominees,” the video states.

  38. Swedish Municipalities Head: Chain Migration Causing New Migrant Crisis (breitbart, May 18, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/05/18/swedish-municipalities-head-chain-migration-causing-new-migrant-crisis/

“The chairman of SKL, which represents Sweden’s municipalities and county councils, has warned the country could be facing a new migrant crisis due to so-called “family reunifications” — chain migration — saying the influx could rival 2015.

Anders Knape warned that the Swedish municipalities may not be able to handle the costs of so many new migrants taking residency in Sweden as part of the family reunification programme, and, according to a report in the newspaper Aftonbladet, said, “[Sweden is] facing the second wave of refugee reception, the family migration. As we don’t know how big it gets. It can be extremely powerful and mean that we are approaching the figures we experienced in 2015 and 2016.”

“Much of the family migration will end up, at least initially, in places that already have a strained situation,” Knape explained. Several municipalities in Sweden are already feeling the effects of mass migration, with some leaders, such as Urban Hansson Brusewitz, head of the National Institute of Economic Research (KI), saying that the local governments could be forced to raise taxes as a result.

Fredrik Söderberg Bruce, Head of Press at the Migration Board, resisted Knape’s claims, however, saying: “In 2019, we estimate that approximately 27,000 people will be received in the country’s municipalities, then reduce to about 20,000 people in 2020 and 2021. This can be compared with 2016 and 2017 when approximately 68,000 people were received in the country’s municipalities annually.”

Knape responded that, while he did not want to mislead people, the Migration Board had also been wrong in the past: “The regulations facilitate family migration. This may mean that over time, a large group will come and we must be prepared for it in our operations,” he explained.

Sweden, with a population of only around 10 million, is expected to receive far more family reunification migrants this year, with Swedish Minister of Migration Morgan Johansson arguing that the increase would be good for integration efforts.

“I think it is a very good humanitarian measure, it is about 90 percent women and children who have long lived in refugee camps who can now be reunited with their father or husband in Sweden,” Johansson claimed.”

  39. Richard: There is a civil war coming but abortion isn’t the main reason any more then slavery was the main reason for the first civil war. In that war the Dems were trying to seize more power for the States to take away the rights of people, now the Dems are trying to use the power of the Federal Government to take rights away from the states and the people. Abortion, Russian Interference etc make nice slogans for posters and to scream about them being the cause of the war but the real reason is a small group of people want the power to force us to live the way they want. They will stop at nothing to seize this power, look at the way they framed General Flynn, the way they tried to frame President Trump, what they are trying to do to President Trumps family.

A civil war and a major international war are coming but the war will be fought about the rights of all people including the unborn and the freedom of all people. Not about women wanting to kill their babies because they are inconvenient.

    • I thought this article was before my last comment, well here it is.

The coming civil war over abortion

A civil war is coming to America, only this time, it will be abortion, rather than slavery, that divides the nation. And while I hope will all my heart that it will not be a physically violent war, the ideological conflict will certainly be violent and intense.

We witnessed some of this during the hearings for Brett Kavanaugh, when the opposition to his confirmation was fierce to the point of screaming and pounding at the Senate’s doors.

This brought to my mind the famous line, “Hell hath no fury like that of a woman scorned,” based on which I wrote an article titled, “Prepare for the Wrath of the Pro-Abortion Militants.” The article ended by saying “that hell hath no fury like that of the militant pro-abortionists.”

The very same day my article was posted on the Stream, Jennifer Hartline posted an article on that same website, titled, “It’s Not Kavanaugh. It’s Roe.” Her article ended by saying, “They hate Kavanaugh because they love abortion and he does not. Hell hath no fury like ‘women’s rights’ scorned.”

We were hearing the same message!

This is part of what I refer to as Jezebel’s War with America (the title of my forthcoming book), where the forces of radical feminism come together with the extreme pro-abortion movement (among other spiritual and cultural forces) in an attempt destroy America.

The only way to describe this is war.

      http://www.gopusa.com/?p=69680?omhide=true

    • There is a civil war coming but abortion isn’t the main reason any more then slavery was the main reason for the first civil war.

Excellent overall analysis, Richard (as usual). While it’s convenient to boil all this down to the 1%‘s obsessive greed, their true objective goes way beyond material acquisition. In this respect, money most certainly ISN’T everything.

Money might be able to buy you love (IF you know how and where to shop), but there’s another, infinitely more favorite playtoy of the rich and famous. POWER.

With the power of control, you can print all the fucking money you want. Soros and his ilk learned this long ago and, as Barry Webb was remarking about Qatar, who’s been bought off probably reads like a political Who’s Who.

Long ago, in an email exchange with Baron Bodissey, he assured me—quoting the Great Man almost verbatim—”You could write down the names of every federal politician NOT bought off by Muslim Middle East interests on a 3×5 index card, and you’d still have plenty of room for your weekly grocery list. (He’ll confirm this.)

I’ve yet to see a shred of evidence that contradicts him.

  40. Norwegian insurer: Iran probably behind oil tanker attacks off UAE port
    Reuters May 17, 2019

[Ed. – The verdict mounts. Effects on the oil trade are manageable at the moment, but this isn’t the Iran-Iraq War in 1987-88. Iran isn’t preoccupied with Iraq, or vice versa; Iran’s main effort now is complicating the conditions of the oil trade. It will take some fancy footwork to get inside their OODA loop. Meanwhile, the insurer’s conclusions about the method for the attacks are pretty much what I suggested in the last post. Exclusive: Insurer says Iran’s Guards likely to have organised tanker attacks
    Jonathan Saul, Gwladys Fouche

    5 Min Read

LONDON/OSLO (Reuters) – Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) are “highly likely” to have facilitated attacks last Sunday on four tankers including two Saudi ships off Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates, according to a Norwegian insurers’ report seen by Reuters.

The UAE, Saudi Arabia and Norway are investigating the attacks, which also hit a UAE- and a Norwegian-flagged vessel.

A confidential assessment issued this week by the Norwegian Shipowners’ Mutual War Risks Insurance Association (DNK) concluded that the attack was likely to have been carried out by a surface vessel operating close by that despatched underwater drones carrying 30-50 kg (65-110 lb) of high-grade explosives to detonate on impact.

The attacks took place against a backdrop of U.S.-Iranian tension following Washington’s decision this month to try to cut Tehran’s oil exports to zero and beef up its military presence in the Gulf in response to what it called Iranian threats.

The DNK based its assessment that the IRGC was likely to have orchestrated the attacks on a number of factors, including:

    https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-usa-iran-oil-tankers-exclusive-idUKKCN1SN1OS

DNK said Iran was also likely to continue similar low-scale attacks on merchant vessels in the coming period.

Richard: Unless my memory is playing tricks on me President Trump told Iran that attacks on our allies would be treated as attacks on us and would result with overwhelming force used against Iran. I wonder if there is enough evidence to get him to take out the Iranian Navy, Air Force adn a large chunk of their Army? Hit them real hard, hit them real fast and scare there proxies to the point they will not attack us or our allies in the future.

Right now the Iranians (and others) are trying to wait out the Trump administration praying that the Dems succeed in winning the 2020 election. Or if the Dems lose that they start a civil war that will give them a free hand to do what they want.
