Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We muse use it while we can.

  1. The assimulation of illegal immigrants in the UK.

“In my view, although it is a sad and unpleasant conclusion, the likely association of Binbuga with this north London gang is a good example of his integration into one of the less savoury aspects of UK life.”

“Judge Ruth said: ‘It is a sad and unpleasant fact of life that, in various parts of London, gang culture is an accepted and widespread part of life for many young people.”
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6901271/Judge-ruled-Turkish-criminals-gang-membership-showed-socially-integrated-Britain.html#comments

Criminal gangs are a way life in the UK and officially a valid form of integration?

Welcome muslims and any other criminal fraternity that treat their victims as worthless kufar mules.

      • This woman probably believes that everybody who emigrates to the UK is an innocent, fresh-as-the-driven-snow noble savage.

She may want to look into Turkish gang culture:
        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkish_mafia

In the trafficking of heroin they cooperate with Bulgarian mafia groups who transport the heroin further to countries such as Italy.[1] Criminal activities such as the trafficking of other types of drugs, illegal gambling, human trafficking, prostitution or extortion are committed in Turkey itself as well as European countries with a sizeable Turkish community
        [..]
Certain Turkish criminal groups have strong links with corrupt politicians and corrupt members of the local law enforcement. They are active in different sections of organized crime and can often be linked to politically motivated groups, such as the Grey Wolves.

        ..and violence against women:
        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women_in_Turkey#Crime_against_women
The murders of women in Turkey increased from 66 in 2002 to 953 in the first seven months of 2009.[17] In the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia regions in particular, women face domestic violence, forced marriages, and honor killings.[18] ?efkat-Der, a Turkish non-governmental organization, has suggested granting licensed, tax-free guns to women as a way to combat domestic violence.[19] On 8 March 2017, a mob illegally entered the Istanbul Bilgi University campus and attacked students celebrating International Women’s Day,[20] also, students mentioned that they had been threatened on Twitter before the incident.[21]
Between 2002 and 2009, the murder rate of women skyrocketed by 1,400 percent.

About Turkish criminals in the UK:
        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkish_mafia#Turkish_Cypriot_crime_groups
Following the substantial immigration of Turkish Cypriots to London criminal gangs composed of Turkish Cypriots were formed in working-class neighborhoods.

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkish_mafia#Turkish_Cypriot_crime_groups
While ethnically Zaza groups are not noteworthy in Turkey itself, large Alevi Zaza immigrant communities have formed in Great Britain and Germany. Criminal gangs from these communities have links with other Turkish and Kurdish crime bosses and are involved in drug trafficking and contract killing. An example in London is the brutal turf war between Turkish gangs, such as the so-called Tottenham Boys and the Hackney Turks. The Tottenham Boys and Hackney are mainly Turkish gangs, but they have also some Kurdish members.

  2. Criminal gangs are a way life in the UK and officially a valid form of integration?

    With prison communities, yes?

The only thing a country has to do is convert all land within its borders into one gigantic prison and this entire Muslim “integration” process is easier than raping a twelve year-old.

Panopticon? Schmanopticon! Why bother with stuffy, expensive, old penitentiaries? The New Age (rhymes with “sewage”) is upon us. So, let’s start treating prisoners like free citizens and free citizens like prisoners.

As George Orwell observed: Freedom is Slavery—and that makes Freedom rather overrated now, doesn’t it? Let’s just go with “Slavery for $1,000, Alex” and put an end to all this dithering.

After all, it’s not like converting an entire country into one vast lockup is unheard of. Besides, this is one policy we can get all politicians to vote for.

Everything turned out so very well for the Soviet Union (along with its devil-spawn, the PRC and North Korea). Why shouldn’t other governments give this full-blown Socialism idea a go?

It’s time for some high-tech, First World, Western nations to take a shot at it. Everybody keeps whinging that, “It just hasn’t been done right yet!” Let’s show them how this works, eh?

    Did someone say “Prison Planet”?

  3. Russia’s Gold and Forex Reserves Climb to Record High Amid Bullion-Buying Spree (sputniknews, Apr 9, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/business/201904091073952877-russia-foreign-exchange-reserves-gold/

“In 2018, the Russian Central Bank bought up nearly 275 tonnes of monetary gold, in a bid to further replenish the country’s gold and foreign exchange reserves.

Russia’s gold and forex reserves have hit the 487.8 billion dollars mark, breaking a five-year record on 1 April, when the figure stood at 486 billion dollars, according to the Russian Central Bank’s fresh data.

This comes as the bank continued its record-breaking streak of gold purchases into the first two months of 2019, bringing Russia’s total gold reserves to nearly 2,150 tonnes.

Gold already accounts for close to 20 percent of Russia’s total foreign exchange reserves, with the dollar dropping from a whopping 46 percent of reserves in mid-2017 to 22 percent in 2019.

Last year, Russia surpassed China to become the country with the fifth-largest gold reserves, with its bullion shopping spree seeing holdings approach third and fourth place Italy and France, who have 2,451.8 and 2,436 tonnes of gold, respectively according to the World Gold Council.

The United States and Germany possessing 8,133.5 tonnes and 3,369.7 tonnes, respectively hold the first two positions.

Russian Central Bank head Elvira Nabiullina has repeatedly stated that the regulator pursues a policy of diversifying the investments of international reserves, taking into account all the risks, including financial, economic and geopolitical ones.”

  4. Nordic Right-Wingers Join Forces to Stop ‘European Superstate’ & Macron (sputniknews, Apr 9, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201904091073953100-scandinavia-right-wing-alliance/

“A new pan-European alliance plans to secure Europe’s external borders, culture and history from the onslaught of globalisation and Islam. The group describes itself as opposing French President Emmanuel Macron’s vision of a European superstate.

The Danish People’s Party (DF) and the Finns have both signed up to a pan-European right-wing alliance ahead of May’s European election. The other founding members of the European Alliance for People and Nations are Italy’s Lega and Germany’s Alternative for Deutschland (AfD) parties.

Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini described the aim of the newly founded group as preserving Europe’s borders, culture and history.

The ceremonial announcement in Milan was attended by Finns MEP Olli Kotro.

“Constructing a better and safer Europe with patriots!” Kotro tweeted, posting a picture of himself and his new-founded allies.

“Together we will fight for a safer Europe with well-protected external borders, less immigration and a stronger cooperation to tackle terrorism and Islamisation” Danish MEP Anders Vistinen of the Danish People’s Party tweeted, posting the same photo.

As DF leading MEP candidate Peter Kofod put it, the idea of the new platform is to “fight federalism from within” and “support the interest of nation states”. The new alliance will therefore have three major goals: a Europe of nations with the nation state in the centre, more protection for national culture and identity, and working together to stop to illegal immigration.

According to Kofod, the alliance stands on the opposite side of French President Emmanuel Macron and intends to fight his plans of European superstate. The DF admittedly doesn’t care for the fact that Salvini is often referred to as “controversial”.

“The important thing is to change the EU in the right direction”, Kofod explained in the DF’s party newspaper, Dit Overblik. Kofod explained that the group intends to fight for “diversity in a sense that countries themselves have to adjust themselves as they please”.

To be formally recognised as an official group in the European Parliament, the group needs at least 25 MEPs from seven different EU countries. France’s National Rally and Austria’s Freedom Party (FPÖ) are tipped as other potential future candidates.

The Danish People’s Party and the Finns have in recent years been together in the Eurosceptic conservative ECR party group, together with the Sweden Democrats, the country’s largest right-wing party. The latter, however, don’t intend to join their Nordic peers at the moment.

“We have always had the goal of being in the ECR group with other conservative parties. We feel we are in the right group now”, MEP Peter Lundgren explained.

In 2014, the DF won the European Parliament election in Denmark by a wide margin, securing 27 per cent of the vote. The DF received 21 per cent of the vote in the 2015 general election, becoming the second-largest party in Denmark for the first time.

The Finns are currently polling third with over 15 per cent, which is a major improvement from single-digit polls following the 2017 schism, when half of the party departed to form the rivalling Blue Reform Party.”

    • Iranian MPs Chant ‘Death to America’, Wear IRGC Uniforms to Protest US Move (sputniknews, Apr 9, 2019)
      https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201904091073949163-iran-us-irgc/

“On Monday, Iran accused the US government of supporting terrorism and recognised the US Central Command (CENCTOM) as a terrorist organisation in response to Washington’s decision to put Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps on its list of terrorist groups.

Iranian politicians have convened an open session of parliament with chants of “Death to America” and “Death to Israel” a day after the US listed the country’s elite IRGC as a terrorist organisation.

According to Tasnim, a media outlet, the Iranian lawmakers wore Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps uniforms at a Tuesday parliamentary session in solidarity with the military, marking the National Day of the Revolutionary Guard, which follows the lunar calendar…”

  5. Iranian President Slams US as ‘Leader of World Terrorism’, Praises IRGC (sputniknews, Apr 8, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201904091073945138-iran-calls-blacklisting-irgc-gift-to-netanyahu/

“On Monday, Washington designated Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) as a foreign terrorist organisation. This decision came on the eve of a general legislative election in Israel, where the incumbent Prime Minister Netanyahu is seeking re-election for a fourth consecutive term.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani condemned US move to blacklist the IRGC, slamming the United States as the real “leader of world terrorism”.

“Who are you to label revolutionary institutions as terrorists?” Rouhani asked in a televised speech on Tuesday. He added: “You want to use terrorist groups as tools against the nations of the region… you are the leader of world terrorism.”

He went on to describe the IRGC as protectors of the Islamic republic. “The Guards have sacrificed their lives to protect our people, our (1979 Islamic) revolution… today America that holds a grudge against the Guards, blacklists the Guards.”

    A ‘Gift to Netanyahu’

Hihg-profile Iranian diplomats have struck a similar tone, suggesting that this move was meant to bolster Netanyahu’s electoral odds in Tuesday’s national vote.

“Rushing to announce the decision in days when the Revolutionary Guards is busy rescuing flood-hit [Iranian] people is just a gift to Netanyahu to help him in the Israeli elections,” tweeted Iran’s envoy to the UK Hamid Baeidinejad.

His comments came just minutes after Foreign Minister Javad Zarif called the US decision “another election-eve gift to Netanyahu”. Zarif earlier warned that Israel was seeking to drag the US into “another disaster” in the Middle East…”

  6. Obama shatters previous record, mentions himself 467 times in one speech in Berlin

    NR: The meat.

    “I” — 312

    “Me” — 33

    “My” — 43

    “I’d” — 9

    “I’m” — 61

    “Myself” — 9

The former president’s comments began on his favorite topic: himself.

“It’s been over ten years since I spoke to a slightly larger crowd in front of the Victory Column when I was running for president,” Obama said to a notably quiet crowd. “I had a little less gray hair then. And since then I’ve been back to Germany I think at least ten times. I’ve been to Europe countless times. But I’m as excited to be here with you as I have been ever when I’ve come to Europe.”

NR: That’s nine self-references in five sentences, with THREE in a single sentence.

    From: Magical Thinking

The unrealistic thought pattern of Magical Thinking now informs American public policy and statecraft at every level—on economics, foreign relations, rule of law, environmentalism, etc. It is a world-view based upon the notion the “right” people will provide successful leadership for America, simply because they are “good,” and not the old “bad” leaders. Most intriguingly, this outlook is characteristic of not just children, but also sufferers of Narcissistic Personality Disorder, which Dr. Ali Sinan believe[s] is a diagnosis fitting Barack Obama.

  7. EU Parl’t Head Reminds France About Role in Gaddafi’s Overthrow Amid Libya Chaos (sputniknews, Apr 9, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/world/201904091073945981-libya-france-antonio-tajani/

“The claims come amid the escalation of the crisis in Libya, which has seen Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, a former supporter of the country’s late former leader Muammar Gaddafi, launch a military campaign to seize the Libyan capital Tripoli.

European Parliament President Antonio Tajani has commented on the current situation in Libya, specifically dwelling on Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini’s claims that the economic interests of a foreign country could be behind the military operation being launched against the Libyan capital Tripoli.

“We have always said that France and Italy have separate interests in Libya, so much so, that Sarkozy was one of the strong supporters of overthrowing and then killing Muammar Gaddafi, along with the Americans and the British,” Tajani told the Italian news network Sky TG24.”

He argued that “France made a dramatic historical mistake” in hoping for a stronger presence in Libya, but that at the end of the day, “there is nothing but chaos and we have paid the price through the continuing migration flows”.

He warned that if no efforts are taken right now to resolve the Libyan crisis, the situation in the country “will become unmanageable”. According to Tajani, the Libyan standoff “also reflects Italy’s inability” to be in charge of the situation in the North African country.

Tajani’s comments came after Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini argued that the economic interests of a foreign country could be behind the military operation which was recently launched against the Libyan capital Tripoli.

The escalating crisis in Libya started to unravel last Thursday when the Libyan National Army (LNA) of Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar marched on the national capital with the stated goal of wrestling it from alleged “terrorists”.

Forces loyal to the Tripoli-based and UN-supported Government of National Accord (GNA) said, in turn, that they were launching a counteroffensive operation dubbed Volcano of Rage.

On Tuesday, the GNA’s Presidential Council condemned the LNA airstrikes on Mitiga Airport in Tripoli, slamming them as “a war crime and a crime against humanity, which is violating all national laws and international agreements and which made sending ill and wounded people to hospitals impossible at this difficult moment”.

Libya has been embroiled in a severe political crisis since National Transitional Council forces, supported by NATO, murdered the country’s former head Muammar Gaddafi in October 2011.

The country was then divided between the parliament, which was elected in 2014 and is based in the city of Tobruk and supported by the LNA, and the GNA, which was formed at the UN’s initiative and controls the western part of the country, including the capital Tripoli.”

  8. Migrant posing as a 16-year-old boy to claim asylum as an unaccompanied child in France is revealed to be a man aged 47 (dailymail, Apr 9, 2019)
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6902171/Migrant-posing-16-year-old-boy-claim-asylum-France-revealed-47.html

“A migrant who posed as a 16-year-old boy to claim asylum as an unaccompanied child in France has been exposed as a 47-year-old man, according to reports in France.

The man had presented himself to police in the town of Angouleme, around 70 miles north of Bordeaux, on Wednesday last week.

In order to back up his claim, he presented officers with a birth certificate which purported to show he was born in Guinea in 2002.

But investigators made contact with Spanish authorities, suspecting that he may have arrived in that country first before crossing into France, Sud-Ouest reports.

Officers in Spain confirmed they were aware of the man’s identity and presented their French counterparts with a copy of his passport that he had used to apply for a visa there in 2017.

The passport confirmed the man was 47 years old, more than three decades older than he had claimed.

French police rejected his asylum claim, ordered him to leave the prefecture and placed him in a detention center in Rennes.

The previous day another migrant, claiming to be a 16-year-old from Mali, had approached the same police station.

A similar check with Spanish authorities revealed he was, in fact, 21.

Under French law, the state has a responsibility to care for all unaccompanied minor migrants, whether they have applied for asylum or not, until they turn 18.

In order to claim accommodation and schooling, minors must apply to the child social assistance service which will assess their age and whether they are genuinely unaccompanied.

If a minor wishes to stay in France after they turn 18, they must then apply for asylum which will be dealt with by a different agency.”

  9. ISIS ‘morality policewoman’ who ‘let chained-up slave girl die of thirst in scorching Iraqi sun’ covers her face in German court where Amal Clooney will represent the Yazidi child’s mother (dailymail, Apr 9, 2019)
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6902415/ISIS-morality-policewoman-covers-face-appears-German-court.html

“A German woman who joined ISIS has gone on trial today accused of letting a five-year-old Yazidi ‘slave’ girl die of thirst.

Prominent human rights lawyer Amal Clooney is part of the team representing the dead girl’s mother, but she is not expected to appear in the Munich trial on Tuesday.

The defendant, Jennifer Wenisch, 27, faces life in jail if found guilty of committing a war crime, murder, membership in a terrorist organisation and weapons offences.

The case against her is believed to be the first anywhere in the world for international crimes committed by ISIS jihadists against Yazidis.

According to news weekly Der Spiegel, the defendant, herself the mother of a small girl, confessed while talking to an undercover FBI informant in a bugged car.

German prosecutors allege her ISIS husband had purchased the Yazidi child and her mother – a co-plaintiff in the trial – as household ‘slaves’ and held them captive while living in then occupied Mosul, Iraq, in 2015.

‘After the girl fell ill and wet her mattress, the husband of the accused chained her up outside as punishment and let the child die an agonising death of thirst in the scorching heat,’ prosecutors charge.

‘The accused allowed her husband to do so and did nothing to save the girl.’

German media said the defendant’s husband, Taha Sabah Noori Al-J., had beaten both the Yazidi mother and child, and that Wenisch allegedly also once held a pistol to the woman’s head.

Wenisch, who reportedly left school after the eighth grade and converted to Islam in 2013, left Germany in August 2014 and travelled via Turkey and Syria to Iraq where she joined the ISIS.

Recruited in mid-2015 to an ‘anti-vice squad’ of the group’s self-styled Hisba morality police, she patrolled city parks in ISIS-occupied Fallujah and Mosul.

Armed with an AK-47 assault rifle, a pistol and an explosives vest, her task was to ensure that women complied with IS behaviour and clothing regulations, said prosecutors.

In January 2016, months after the Yazidi child’s death, Wenisch visited the German embassy in Ankara to apply for new identity papers.

When she left the mission, she was arrested by Turkish security services and extradited several days later to Germany.

For lack of actionable evidence against her at the time, she was allowed to return to her home in the German state of Lower Saxony, but quickly sought to return to ISIS territory.

Der Spiegel reported that an FBI informant had posed as an accomplice who offered to take Wenisch back to the ISIS ‘caliphate’, and who chatted with her in a bugged car while they drove through Germany.

Wenisch allegedly said that the death of the little girl had been ‘hard-core even for the IS’ and unjust because only God had the right to use fire as punishment.

Her husband had later been beaten as punishment by the ISIS, she said.

Police followed close behind her vehicle for several hours and listened to a live audio feed as Wenisch spoke and then arrested her at a highway stop.

Clooney, the wife of Hollywood star George Clooney, has been involved in a campaign with Nobel Peace Prize winner Nadia Murad, a former ISIS sex slave, to have the crimes against the Yazidi minority be recognised as a ‘genocide’.”

    • The defendant, Jennifer Wenisch, 27, faces life in jail…

Why not just withhold water? It’s important that these ISIS whores experience the same agonizingly slow and painful death* as their victims.

      * One of the most horrifyingly tortuous ways to die that there is.

What’s really tragic is that there’s probably no way of amping up Wenisch psychological trauma by having some adult authority figure she is utterly dependent upon slowly torture her to death.

Preferably in a scenario involving sun lamps and a tall, dew-speckled glass of sparkling ice water just our of her manacled reach.

    • Germany: German woman on trial for alleged war crimes as IS member

“We accuse the defendant, in addition to affiliation operations for IS, of war crimes and criminal negligence causing death. Specifically, we accuse the defendant of leaving Germany in 2014 in order to join the so-called Islamic State and become active as a member of the moral and religious police,” Chief Prosecutor Claudia Gorf said.

  10. Thirteen prison officers hospitalised after violence erupts at Feltham youth jail over weekend (telegraph, Apr 9, 2019)
    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/04/09/thirteen-prison-officers-hospitalised-violence-erupts-feltham/

“Thirteen prison officers required hospital treatment after being attacked by teenage offenders during a weekend of violence at a youth jail.

Nineteen staff in total at Feltham Young Offenders Institution (YOI) in west London were injured as about a dozen young criminals, aged 15 to 17, mounted “unprovoked” attacks on officers.

They suffered fractures, broken noses, cuts, bruises and bites during the violence which started last Friday and continued through the weekend.

“They don’t need an excuse, they decided they were going to attack staff members, unprovoked. It was just wanton violence, simple as that,” said Mark Fairhurst, chairman of the Prison Officers’ Association.

“Feltham has a difficult cohort to deal with as these are the violent kids who are committing the knife crime in London. They don’t stop violence just because they are in a young offenders’ institution…”

    • Bring in a score of those bleeding heart Leftist psychologists the most useless of useful idiots, who can nurse these poor children through their trauma and happily quickly join their ancestors knowing that they believed in stupidity right to the very bitter end. Ohh and make them female so they can share their assets with these poor children first.
I am wondering just when a ?crowd funded NGO called “Justice” is going to pop up all over the west and invoke just retribution on those who fully deserve it irrespective of leftist lawyers and judges attempts to minimise such crimes. It is well past time for such and my first suggestion would be the Blackpool kebab scum but the list would be an extremely long one. The furore on the MSM and the righteous virtuous hand waving in parliaments alone would be worth it as vigilantes are the ONE thing that terrifies all governments as it proves their incompetence and inability to rule. Eeyore Deletion OK on this if worried

      • the Blackpool kebab scum

Few better starting places on this green Earth, dear lady. I’d happily consider Blackpool to be one of those points by which all others are reckoned, sort of like Zulu Time for the counterjihad.

Rest assured, too, that I share your belief in the need for Westerners to “come out swinging” from this Culturally Marxist closet of shame.

        • The Blackpool kebab case was one where a 14 yo old girl “disappeared” as she was rape groomed by kebab shop owners then turned into and sold as kebabs to the unsuspecting locals. Those guilty escaped on a “technicality” ( I won a 10 gbp bet that there was a muslim technician involved here) and the scumbags sued fro false arrest and received a payout of half a million gbps. Never was sanctioning more deserved. Try finding this on UK MSM sewers.

  11. Study: Britons in Every Demographic Group Want Immigration Reduced (breitbart, Apr 9, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/04/09/study-britons-want-immigration-reduced/

“A majority of people in the UK from every age bracket and ethnic background want to see immigration reduced, a new survey has found.

The study of 10,000 people carried out by the newly formed centre-right think-tank ‘Onward’ discovered that all groups, including minority ethnic groups, 18-24-year-olds and those who voted to remain in the EU, all back reducing the level of immigration into the UK.

Broken down, the figures show that Remainers back reducing immigration by 40 to 34 per cent, the same proportion as British Asians interviewed. The results also showed that a plurality of 18-24-year-olds backed reducing immigration by 38 to 36 per cent, The Sun reports.

The study also found that among the most popular of proposed policies focussed on immigration would be one requiring new migrants to learn the English language upon arrival.

The findings come as Britain faced its highest rate of non-EU migration for 14 years. In 2018, net immigration from non-EU countries stood at over 248,000, equivalent to the population of Southampton arriving in just one year. The demographic shift helped push the non-UK born population of the country to 9.4 million, around one in seven people nationwide.

The most recent figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) found that between July and September last year, there were 1.24 million non-EU nationals working in the UK as well as 2.25 million EU nationals, a total of nearly 3.5 million, larger than the population of Wales.

The UK government has faced serious criticism for its consistent failure to reduce immigration, despite the Conservative manifestos in 2010, 2015, and 2017 all pledging to reduce net migration from the hundreds of thousands to the tens of thousands.

The head of immigration thinktank Migration Watch said in December 2018 that new proposals for immigration post-Brexit could even make the situation worse. Migration Watch chief Lord Green of Deddington said of the government’s new white paper that they were “shocking proposals which run completely against the current of public opinion and which are likely to result in even more massive levels of immigration,”

In 2017 then-newly appointed Editor of the London Evening Standard and former Conservative Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne said that the Conservative government in private never intended to keep the promise to reduce immigration to the tens of thousands. He wrote “none of (the Cabinet’s) senior members supports the pledge in private and all would be glad to see the back of something that has caused the Conservative Party such public grief”.”

  12. Migrant Who Thought It Was ‘OK Under Irish Law’ to Rape Step-Daughter Is Jailed (breitbart, Apr 9, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/04/09/migrant-who-thought-okay-rape-step-daughter-irish-law-jailed/

“A foreign national living in Ireland who thought it was “OK under Irish law” to rape his step-daughter has been jailed for 12 years.

The 42-year-old non-native English speaker, whose identity has not been disclosed, was found guilty of 17 sexual crimes against his step-child last month, and was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment on Monday.

The crimes were committed against the child when she was between the ages of 11 and 15 years old, occurring in the family home whilst her mother was out working.

The Irish Independent reported at the time of the paedophile’s conviction that the assaults began with oral rape in 2011, graduating onto rape “on a highly regular basis,” a local garda (police) told prosecutor Vincent Heneghan SC.

The abuse only stopped in 2017 when the girl told her family what had happened to her and made a complaint to the gardaí.

Her abuser had initially claimed that he thought it was “okay under Irish law” to rape the child, but later accepted that it is not.

In January 2018, the 42-year-old pleaded guilty to three counts of defilement of a child under the age of 17 between March and June 2017.

But at the subsequent trial, he denied one count of oral rape, three counts of defiling the same girl between 2011 and 2017, 12 counts of rape, and one count of sexually exploiting the girl when he invited her to have sex with him for €200 (£173/$225).

However, a jury at the Central Criminal Court returned guilty verdicts on all charges. Damien Colgan SC, defending, said that his client did not accept those verdicts, adding that the migrant had no previous convictions and had a good work history.

According to the Irish Times, Mr Justice White took into account when sentencing the severity of the case, which he said was a “serious violation of a child.”

He also said he took into account that the rapist was an Irish citizen of foreign extraction with little English making prison more ‘difficult’ as a result.

Disturbed by the “intolerable” abuse which was happening “as a matter of rote,” he imposed concurrent sentences of just 12 years.

In a victim impact statement, the rape survivor said she suffers from stress, low self esteem, is unable to sleep, and her schooling has suffered.

She told the court that when she heard the guilty verdicts she broke down, saying, “I sometimes feel as if I am at the bottom of the ocean… with no light at all.””

    • Was her mother also punished for letting this sc*mbag near her daughter? In my world Irish men once had gonads and the stereotype of the drunken useless Irish rising again seems to be the only explanation. Where are the IRA/Sinn Fein or even the provos when you need them?

    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/sea-eye-food-water-running-low-rescue-ship-62266787

“The German humanitarian group Sea-Eye says drinking water and food is running low onboard its rescue vessel at sea for the sixth day carrying 64 migrants, as Europe haggles over where to provide a safe port.

Sea-Eye said Tuesday that it has informed Malta, the nearest port, of the scarcity of food and water for the migrants, including 12 women, a child and an infant.

The European Union, meanwhile, said it had triggered talks with member states to identify a port and countries to take in the migrants, as the nearest countries, Malta and Italy, have refused to allow port access to any NGO rescue ship.

Sea-Eye spokesman Dominik Reisinger said the “political question about the distribution of the rescued … overshadows the human rights” of those on board.”

    • Libya isn’t that far away. Nor is Tunisia. Funny that!? IMO picking up illegals without the capacity to handle or deal with them is a criminal act as the concept of rescuing has been shown to be no more than an exploit. Imagine if a boat capsized by picking up too many. Any guess what would happen to the master?

“Sudanese security forces tried again to break up an anti-government sit-in outside the military headquarters in the capital, Khartoum, killing at least seven people on Tuesday, activists behind the demonstrations said.

The deaths brought the total number of people killed at the sit-in since the weekend to 15, mainly from among the protesters but also including two soldiers.

The demonstration is the latest in nearly four months of anti-government protests that have plunged Sudan into its worst crisis in years. WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump and White House allies pressing for a harder line on immigration sped up their campaign Monday to clean house at the Department of Homeland Security with a mission far wider than just the departure of Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen.

The dismantling of the government’s immigration leadership is being orchestrated by Trump adviser Stephen Miller, the impetus behind some of the administration’s most controversial policies, according to three people familiar with the matter. Beyond changing names and faces, Trump is considering separating migrant families at the border again, resuming the practice that drew so much outrage last year, the same people said.

Security researchers have discovered a powerful surveillance app first designed for Android devices can now target victims with iPhones.

The spy app, found by researchers at mobile security firm Lookout, said its developer abused their Apple-issued enterprise certificates to bypass the tech giant’s app store to infect unsuspecting victims.

The disguised carrier assistance app once installed can silently grab a victim’s contacts, audio recordings, photos, videos and other device information — including their real-time location data. It can be remotely triggered to listen in on people’s conversations, the researchers found. Although there was no data to show who might have been targeted, the researchers noted that the malicious app was served from fake sites purporting to be cell carriers in Italy and Turkmenistan.

Satellite images of a nuclear reactor under construction on the outskirts of the capital, Riyadh, have reignited fears of an escalation in the tussle for regional hegemony pitting the Saudi kingdom against Iran.

In a bid to allay such concerns, the head of the UN nuclear watchdog, the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), has asked Saudi authorities to agree to additional safeguards verifying that the nuclear technology is used for peaceful applications.

The Saudi reactor is within months of being completed, according to Robert Kelley, a former director of nuclear inspections at the IAEA, who identified the images first published by Bloomberg last week.

The robots are coming to the world’s largest big-box retailer.

This year, Walmart (WMT) plans an aggressive expansion of technology that will automate a range of low-level tasks within its fleet of U.S. stores, freeing up its associates to do more specialized work.

The plan is to roll out 1,500 new autonomous floor cleaners, called the “Auto-C,” 300 additional shelf scanners dubbed the “Auto-S.” In addition, 1,200 more FAST Unloaders will automatically scan and sort items from trucks, and 900 more pickup towers are expected to retrieve customers’ online orders.

It means that shoppers might soon encounter robots gliding up and down the retailer’s aisles, scanning for inventory, maneuvering around shelves, and scrubbing the store’s expansive floor space.

Walmart has embraced new technologies like robots, in order to complete more mundane tasks normally assigned to floor workers. Meanwhile, the roles assigned to its associates are evolving in the changing retail landscape.

About a 60-minute drive northeast of Washington D.C., the city of Baltimore is on the verge of collapse.

Thousands of people are fleeing the city each year as total population plummets to 100-year lows. There are about 46,000 vacant rowhomes scattered throughout the area, or roughly 15% of the housing stock is dormant. On a per capita basis, the city has the highest rate of homicides per 100,000 in the country. Opioids from Johns Hopkins and the University of Maryland Medical Center continue to flood the poorest of neighborhoods, leaving the African American communities in a perpetual state of addiction, along with the need for constant government assistance programs. by Khaled Abu Toameh
    April 9, 2019 at 5:00 am

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/14041/palestinians-target-students

“Pro-Palestinian” activists at university campuses in the US and other Western countries have long been waging various campaigns to denounce Israel and hold it fully responsible for the continued “suffering” of Palestinians.

These activists, however, seem to care little about violations committed against the Palestinians by the Palestinian Authority (PA) in the West Bank or Hamas in the Gaza Strip — even when fellow students in the West Bank and Gaza are being targeted.

In recent weeks, the PA has been waging a campaign of arrests and intimidation against Palestinian students at some of the West Bank universities. The students, according to the Palestinian Authority, are being targeted because of their affiliation with opposition groups, including Hamas. The students, in other words, are being targeted because of their political affiliations and not because of any crime they committed.

Last month, the largest university in the West Bank, An-Najah University, issued a directive banning the Islamic Bloc student list from carrying out any activities on campus. The university administration did not offer any reason for the ban. The decision was announced shortly after a student list affiliated with the Palestinian Authority’s ruling Fatah faction accused its rivals in the Islamic Bloc of carrying out “political activities” on campus on behalf of Hamas. The Fatah-affiliated students later closed the offices belonging to their rivals on campus.

  28. Qatar: ‘A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing’
    Bankrolling Islamism in Europe

    by Giulio Meotti
    April 9, 2019 at 4:00 am

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/14042/qatar-europe-islamism-finance

In October, Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini visited Qatar, the “energy giant”, where he praised the emirate for “not sponsoring extremism anymore”. Unfortunately, the opposite is true. Qatar, “the other Wahhabi state”, apparently is interested not only in its economic relationship with Europe, but also in exporting its brand of political Islam.

According to a new book, Qatar Papers: How the Emirate Finances Islam in France and Europe, by two French journalists, Christian Chesnot and Georges Malbrunot, Qatar has distributed 22 million euros to Islamic projects in Italy alone. This funding has had virtually a single beneficiary: the Union of Islamic Communities and Organizations in Italy (UCOII), accused of closeness to Qatar’s pet organization, the Muslim Brotherhood, the mouthpiece of which is Qatar’s media outlet, Al Jazeera, located in the capital city of Doha.

“Qatar is today a leading funder of Islam in Europe,” Malbrunot said in an interview. His book, an important exposé of the Islamist penetration into Europe, notes that Qatar has funded 140 mosques and Islamic centers in Europe to the tune of €71 million. The country with the most of the projects (50) was Italy, where Rome’s Al Houda Centre received €4 million.

A grandson of Muslim Brotherhood founder Hasan al-Banna, Tariq Ramadan, whom several women have accused of rape and sexual abuse, has received €35,000 per month from the Qatar for being a “consultant”. The Muslim Cultural Complex of Lausanne, Switzerland, received $1.6 million. Qatar, in 2015, donated a new £11 million building at Oxford’s St Antony’s College, where Ramadan is a professor.

    • FRANCE 24 Pravda – French Senate cancels controversial meeting with Yellow Vest protesters

Yellow Vest activists called for fresh protests in Paris on Tuesday after the Senate cancelled a meeting with representatives of the movement at the last minute.

A group of Yellow Vest protesters had been invited by French Senator Catherine Fournier to discuss a range of issues on Tuesday, including plans to privatise Paris’s main airports (Aéroports de Paris or ADP) under a new government bill.

The five-man delegation was made up of several prominent Yellow Vest activists including Eric Drouet, who has made headlines in France for urging followers to storm the Élysée presidential palace.

But the talks were abruptly cancelled, prompting Yellow Vest campaigners to call for fresh protests outside the Senate building in Paris.

“The Senate just cancelled our meeting at the last minute without giving a reason We call for mass rally outside the Senate at 2:30pm,” a faction of the movement known as Yellow Vest Special Operations posted on Facebook

Senate President Gérard Larcher told Reuters that the meeting had been called off because it posed a “risk to public order”.

The Yellow Vest delegation was unconvinced, arguing that Drouet was the real reason it was cancelled.

“It would appear that Eric Drouet’s presence was an embarrassment… Yet Eric Drouet is just an angry citizen, he’s a Yellow Vest member and I don’t see why the meeting was cancelled at the last moment,” Philippe de Veulle, another member of the contingent, told French BFM TV.

Drouet said he did not blame the Senate for the meeting’s cancellation, suggesting that they were pressured into rescinding their invitation.

“We learned (it was cancelled) 20 minutes before,” Drouet told French LCI television. “I don’t think the decision to cancel came from the Senate, I think it came from higher up.”

Senate meeting with Yellow Vests ‘irresponsible’

French President Emmanuel Macron’s administration has made no secret of its displeasure with the Senate for extending an invitation to Drouet and the other delegation members.

Relations between the executive and legislative branches have been fraught ever since the so-called “Benalla affair” – named after Macron’s former security aide Alexandre Benalla, who was caught on video assaulting May Day protesters – which first erupted in July 2018.

“I don’t find this invitation responsible. It’s not my concept of politics,” Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire told France Info radio on Tuesday. “Are they just looking for attention?”

“Why Eric Drouet? I won’t hide my surprise, my shock at learning that the Senate asked Yellow Vest (protester) Eric Drouet for his opinion on the Aéroports de Paris. Is he a specialist on the issue? Is he a member of the Aéroports de Paris? An employee of the Aéroports de Paris?” he added.

Julien Denormandie, minister of urban development, echoed Le Maire, expressing his “deep” shock over the meeting to Cnews media.

In her defence, Fournier told Reuters that she called the meeting at the request of the Yellow Vest Special Operations group.

The group has been outspoken in its opposition to the privatisation of France’s airports.

“The ADP are a strategic national asset that represent a lucrative economic holding, which produces significant wealth,” the movement said in a statement. “It’s an indefensible privatisation, without even consulting the public, it is a strategic error that has been decided behind closed doors.”

The Yellow Vest movement – which began in November in response to the government’s decision to introduce annual increases to diesel and carbon taxes – has since become a movement representing broader opposition against Macron’s government, the high cost of living in France and widespread economic uncertainty.

In recent months, however, it has seen its numbers decline as it struggles to transform popular anger into a real political force. Yellow Vest protests on Saturday drew 22,300 people nationwide, making it the movement’s lowest turnout yet, according to the interior ministry.

  30. Cambridge academic who met Michael Flynn at 2014 dinner speaks out about Stefan Halper
By Daily Caller News Foundation April 8, 2019

Svetlana Lokhova did not get along with Stefan Halper, which is what she says made a dinner invitation to the Cambridge University professor’s home in January 2016 all the more peculiar.

“Halper was a lurking presence with a horrible aura — I avoided him,” said Lokhova, a Cambridge post-graduate student who studies Soviet-era espionage.

Lokhova dodged the invitation to Halper’s home, which she said was sent to her by Christopher Andrew, a Cambridge professor and official historian for MI5, the British domestic intelligence service. But the past three years have revealed new details about Halper and other activities that went on at Cambridge that have caused Lokhova to question why she was asked to that dinner at Halper’s.

For one, a series of stories that appeared in the press in early 2017 heavily implied Lokhova was a Russian agent who tried to suborn Michael Flynn at a dinner hosted at Cambridge on Feb. 28, 2014. Flynn served at the time as director of the Defense Intelligence Agency.

  31. To get Trump’s tax returns, NY Democrats try a new strategy
Jesse McKinley, NYT April 9, 2019

[Ed. – Here’s an even better idea: Lose this loony obsession with nailing the man on something — anything — and get back to the business of governance.]

In an attempt to work around the White House, Democratic lawmakers in Albany are trying to do what their federal counterparts have so far failed to accomplish. …

Albany lawmakers are seeking state tax returns, not the federal ones at the heart of the current standoff in Washington. But a tax return from New York — the president’s home state, and the headquarters of his business empire — could likely contain much of the same financial information as a federal return.

Under a bill that is scheduled to be introduced this week, the commissioner of the New York Department of Taxation and Finance would be permitted to release any state tax return requested by leaders of three congressional committees for any “specific and legitimate legislative purpose.”

The bill is the most recent proposal from New York lawmakers trying to cast light on the president’s personal finances and business dealings, but it could also open the Democratic majorities in the Legislature to charges of politicizing state law to embarrass the president ahead of his expected re-election campaign.

  32. The UN just unveiled a design for a new floating city that can withstand Category 5 hurricanes

The United Nations just unveiled a concept for a floating city that can hold around 10,000 residents.

    Oceanix City

The city is built to withstand natural disasters like floods, tsunamis, and hurricanes.

The design comes from architect Bjarke Ingels and floating city builder Oceanix.

At a roundtable on Wednesday, the UN said floating cities could help protect people from sea-level rise while addressing the lack of affordable housing in major cities.

What once seemed like the moonshot vision of tech billionaires and idealistic architects could soon become a concrete solution to several of the world’s most pressing challenges.

Unlike instances in the past when these futuristic designs have been met with skepticism , the executive director of the United Nations Human Settlement Programme (UN-Habitat), Maimunah Mohd Sharif, said the UN would support and shepherd this project to fruition.

“Everybody on the team actually wants to get this built,” said Marc Collins, the CEO of Oceanix, a company that builds floating structures. “We’re not just theorizing.”

The company believes a floating city project would address both dire housing shortages and threats from rising sea levels. The structures themselves would be designed to withstand all sorts of natural disasters, including floods, tsunamis, and Category 5 hurricanes.

The concept, known as Oceanix City, was designed by renowned architect Bjarke Ingels in collaboration with Oceanix. Though it still needs funding, it’s essentially a toolkit for investors brave enough to take on the project.

Here’s what the city might look like if it comes to life.

The city would essentially be a collection of hexagonal platforms that can each hold around 300 residents.

Hexagons are widely considered one of the most efficient architectural shapes . 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 (Think of the orderly inside of a beehive.) By designing each platform as a hexagon, the builders hope to minimize their use of materials.

The designers consider a group of six platforms to be a “village.” The entire city would contain six villages, for a total of around 10,000 residents.

Ingels said 10,000 is the ideal number of residents, since it would allow the island to achieve “full autonomy” by producing its own power, fresh water, and heat.

Ingels is best known for individual projects like the Superkilen public park in Copenhagen or a pair of twisting towers in New York City. But he told Business Insider that designing an entire city gives him room to expand his vision.

“At the city scale you can achieve more,” Ingels said.

The villages wouldn’t allow any high-emitting cars or trucks.

The city would not contain any garbage trucks. Instead, pneumatic trash tubes would transport garbage to a sorting station, where it could be identified and repurposed.

“This doesn’t look like Manhattan,” Collins told the UN. “There are no cars.”

The design might allow for driverless vehicles, however, and the city could experiment with new technologies such as drone deliveries .

The concept calls for “ocean farming,” which would involve growing food beneath the surface of the water.

Cages underneath the platforms could harvest scallops, kelp, or other forms of seafood. Aquaponic systems would use waste from fish to help fertilize plants, while vertical farms would generate year-round produce. Both of these technologies could also help the city remain self-sufficient during a hurricane or other natural disaster.

Overall, the goal is to reduce waste and produce all the food necessary to feed the city’s inhabitants.

Though it’s referred to as a “floating city,” the community would actually be moored to the ocean floor.

Oceanix envisions the villages within about a mile of major coastal cities. The platforms could also be towed to safer locations in the event of a disaster.

The platforms would be bolstered by Biorock , a material created by exposing underwater minerals to an electric current. This leads to the formation ofa limestone coating that’sthree times harder than concrete, but can still be made to float. The substance becomes stronger with age and can even repair itself as long as it’s still exposed to the current. This allowsit to withstand harsh weather conditions.

The city could also contain an aquifer system that pulls clean water out of the air.

“Cities really start and fail by how well they manage water,” engineer Bry Sart told the UN on Wednesday.

In a disaster scenario, machine generators could pull air from the atmosphere, condense it into water, and filter it for impurities like metal or bacteria.

The city would not contain any high-rises. To keep a low center of gravity, buildings would be between four and seven stories.

In addition to homes, the city would feature a spiritual center, cultural center, and communal library, where residents could rent computers and bicycles as well as books.[... no mosque ?... ]

All buildings would be constructed out of sustainable materials like timber and bamboo. They’re also designed to be disassembled so that future generations of architects can reconfigure the concept.

The designers recognize, of course, that most people will continue to live on land in the future.

Ingels referred to his vision for the city as “utopian pragmatism” the idea that we can accomplish grand design feats in concrete, practical ways.

Not everyone would be amenable to living on water, of course, but those who can’t afford high rents in major cities or who want a living situation that’s less vulnerable natural disasters could benefit from the concept.

Floating homes might even have a calming effect. Ingels said he lives on a decommissioned ferry, and the rocking helps lull his son to sleep.

People would “never sleep better than they [would] on a floating island,” he said.

Pulling off a floating city concept is difficult, but within reach. It’s somewhat akin to landing on the moon.

“I see this, in many ways, as our Apollo 10 dress rehearsal,” Victor Kisob, the deputy executive director of UN-Habitat, told the roundtable.

This vision was shared by many of the project’s designers, including Ingels.

“This is essentially about exploration,” he told Business Insider. “It’s going to serve as an amazing prototype experiment for some of the challenges you’re going to face on Mars.”
