Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We muse use it while we can.

      And what if these Muslims had specifically set their own mosque afire to bolster claims of Islamophobia (similar to many other incidents) and encourage some overly-sympathetic, virtue signaling lamebrains to invite them over and have their own place of worship cased for a future terrorist attack?

      Yes, that speculation is exceedingly cynical and paranoid.

      It is also precisely what Islam deserves to be tarred with in repayment for all of the taqiyya, false flag attacks, hawala-based funding of terrorism, deafening silence over ISIS, lack of concern about Iran going nuclear, utter absence of embarrassment about advocating Antisemitic genocide, immigration fraud, no-go zones, lawfare, and so much other constant antagonism to where there arises a sense that retribution or reprisal for all of this endless hostility is a simple given.

      Only a lack of reckoning over global terrorism would be any surprise.

  2. Muslim doctor only wants to team up with men: Accusations against Minden hospital, Germany+++
    Two employees of the Johannes Wesling Clinic Minden accuse the clinic management of gender discrimination. The accusations are directed against a doctor who refuses to work with women in the operating theatre. According to the employees, his request is implemented in the duty roster so that the physician is supported exclusively by men during operations. The accusations are serious: “I have seen several times how the doctor has expelled me and other surgical assistants from the operating theatre because he doesn’t want to work with women,” explains an employee who doesn’t want to mention her name publicly for fear of reprisals. According to the employee, the doctor has only been working in Minden for a few years and comes from the Middle East. “The doctor’s behaviour is discriminatory, which is why we do not understand that the clinic management tolerates his actions and that his wishes are even implemented in an adapted duty schedule.According to the employee, complaints by those affected are not taken seriously by superiors. “Instead, we are accused of deliberately opposing the physician, even though the clinic is urgently dependent on foreign physicians. This accusation particularly concerns the employee. “Our criticism is not directed against his origin, but against his behavior. Instead of sanctioning the doctor for his discriminatory actions, those affected are now being accused of discrimination.According to the employee, the behaviour of the doctor irritates the entire team and puts a strain on the working atmosphere. “The women in the team in particular no longer feel taken seriously.” The accusations are confirmed by another employee, who also works as a surgical assistant in the Minden Clinic and also witnessed how colleagues had to leave the operating theatre.

    • The blogpost itself does not indicate the religion if any of the surgeon, just the region. The usual procedure in an American hospital would be for a response from the public affairs office. Because the hospital has research associations with US hospitals, perhaps someone with standing (affected) should be able to file at least a request for an investigation of worksite discrimination with a US entity (EEOC). Physicians of different sexes and backgrounds operate together in Israel and elsewhere. If the blogposting is as described, than surely this doctor is a misogynist who is hiding behind the hospital’s fear of being accused of offending him. What a bitter pill for employees and patients when good judgement is lacking!

    “Back in February 2019, US President Donald Trump announced that the US was planning to maintain its presence in Iraq in a bid to monitor the country’s neighbour and one of its key trade partners – Iran.

    US Special Representative for Iran, Brian Hook, has levelled criticism at Iran’s alleged actions in the Middle East region, specifically blaming Tehran for the deaths of hundreds of American soldiers in Iraq since the start of the invasion in the Middle East state, citing previously classified information.

    “In Iraq, I can announce today, based on declassified US military reports, that Iran is responsible for the deaths of at least 608 American service members. This accounts for 17 percent of all deaths of US personnel in Iraq from 2003 to 2011”, Hook said.

    The US special envoy also claimed that “IRGC’s proxies” are responsible for killing many more Iraqi citizens. What is more, Hook alleged that Tehran is attempting to bring Iraq “under Iranian control” and that the most recent visit by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani was part of these efforts. Tehran has not commented on the allegations, claimed by Hook.

    Rouhani arrived in Baghdad on an official visit on 12 March to discuss bilateral relations and sign several framework agreements. During the visit the Iranian president called for improvement in the ties between the two states and to overcome prior “trivial details in mutual relations”.

    The US has been threatening Iraq with sanctions over buying electricity from Iran, but has so far issued temporary waivers for Baghdad. In turn, Iraq’s President Barham Salih has announced that his country will not abide by Washington’s unilateral sanctions against Iran, which is one of Iraq’s biggest trade partners with an annual turnover of about $13 billion.”

  6. Venezuelans Storm Border as Colombia Warns Russia

    HAVANA TIMES – Hundreds of Venezuelans desperate for food and services stormed the Colombian border on Tuesday, while Bogota indirectly warned Russia against a military deployment in support of Venezuela’s embattled president, Nicolas Maduro.

    Parliament speaker Juan Guaido, whom dozens of countries have recognized as the country’s interim president, is trying to persuade the public sector and the army to support his attempt to oust Maduro, who won a second term in a contested election last year.

    The country has plunged into an economic crisis and some citizens have had to make difficult decisions.

    They broke through blockades formed by their country’s National Guard and climbed over containers that the army had used to block the Simon Bolivar bridge, which crosses from Venezuela into the Colombian border city of Cucuta, according to Colombia’s migration authority.

    Venezuela closed border crossings in the area in February to prevent the entry of humanitarian aid, which Maduro regards as a pretext for a US military intervention to oust him from power.

      At first, the US’s aggressive position on Venezuela seemed uncomplicated. Troops were quickly on the mind of the top hawk in D.C.—White House National Security Adviser John Bolton, the man who, in the first years of the 2000s, played a key role in leading the US into an adventure—the second Iraq war—that proved to be disastrous, and placed American imperial power in a terminal crisis (the collapse of the Project for the New American Century). The fickle public had forgotten about all that. Bolton, a member of the “old gang” (Cheney, Rummy, Wolfowitz), could resume the war drumming he loved so much. The press could be expected to amplify it. And old allies would fall into line. Venezuela has oil, a socialist government in turmoil, and pro-American opponents who are ready to exploit the oil and turmoil. What could go wrong with the regional exertion of basic imperial power?

      • The entire article is full of anti conservative and to a large extent anti US propaganda and mis information. But this article is telling us that Chinese troops are joining the Russian troops in Venezuela, this while the Venezuelans are storming the Colombian border to get where they can get food and clean water.

        Combine these reports with the report from LIberty Unyielding about the coyotes in Paname and Columbia working to mark out a foot path through the swamps to move people from South America north to the US border.

        Remember none of this is happening in a vacuum and you get a very scary picture.

      Caracas (AFP) – Venezuela’s Supreme Court called Monday for Juan Guaido to be stripped of his legislative immunity, tightening the noose on the opposition chief just days after authorities announced a ban on him holding public office.

      Guaido — recognized as Venezuela’s interim president by some 50 countries — is locked in a power struggle with President Nicolas Maduro that has drawn in neighboring states as well as superpowers such as the US and Russia.

      As the political battle plays out, the country has been hit by a series of devastating blackouts that have left millions without water, prompting the government to replace the country’s energy minister and institute power rationing in a bid to address the outages.

      The decision by the Supreme Court — which is controlled by Maduro loyalists — to call on the ruling Constituent Assembly legislature to strip Guaido of his immunity could open the way for the opposition chief to be prosecuted.

      The court ruling cited Guaido’s violation of a ban on his travel outside Venezuela when he visited Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Paraguay from late February to early March.

  7. Yujing Zhang: Woman with Chinese passports, malware inside Mar-a-Lago facing federal charges

    A woman carrying two Republic of China passports, four cellphones, a laptop, a hard drive and a thumb drive with malware on it made her way past an initial security checkpoint at Mar-a-Lago when President Trump was in town on March 30, according to a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court.

    The woman, identified as Yujing Zhang, said she was there to “go to the pool,” when first approached by a Secret Service agent, an affidavit said.

    Mar-a-Lago security could not find her on the access list so security contacted the manager of the Beach Club who said Zhang is the last name of a member of the private club, the report said.

Sir Elton John and Hollywood legend George Clooney are among those who have condemned the move. They are calling for a boycott of some Brunei hotels in response.

    Mr Clooney called for the boycott of nine hotels, including establishments in London, owned by Brunei after the oil-rich nation said homosexual acts could be punishable by stoning to death.

    He said: “Every single time we stay at, or take meetings at, or dine at any of these nine hotels we are putting money directly into the pockets of men who choose to stone and whip to death their own citizens for being gay or accused of adultery.”

    But Hassanal Bolkiah, the 29th and current Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan of Brunei and also the country’s Prime Minister, has called for tougher Islamic teachings in the wake of the backlash, AFP reported.

    According to Forbes, Mr Bolkiah is one of the wealthiest individuals in the world, with a net worth of $20billion (£15billion) in 2008 and after Queen Elizabeth II he is the world’s second-longest reigning monarch.

    But the Sultan’s hardline stance and adoption of extreme Islamic laws have landed him in hot water with the international community.

    US officials have spoken out to attack the contentious implementation of the archaic and brutal law, with some claiming it amounts to a flagrant disregard for the United Nations Convention Against Torture.

    Robert Palladino, State Department spokesman, said: “Brunei’s decision to implement Phases Two and Three of the Sharia Penal Code and associated penalties runs counter to its international human rights obligations, including with respect to torture or other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.”

    Mr Palladino added: “We continue to encourage Brunei to ratify and implement the United Nations Convention Against Torture, which it signed in 2015, and to sign, ratify, and implement the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.”

    Through its sovereign wealth fund Brunei owns several luxury hotels in the UK including The Dorchester and 45 Park Lane in London, as well as Coworth Park in Berkshire.

    A spokesperson for the hotel group said: “Dorchester Collection’s Code emphasises equality, respect and integrity in all areas of our operation, and strongly values people and cultural diversity amongst our guests and employees.

    “Inclusion and diversity remain core beliefs as we do not tolerate any form of discrimination.””

    “Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Cabinet has approved extending Germany’s military missions in Africa for another year.

    The dpa news agency reported Wednesday that that includes German troops taking part in a European Union training mission in Mali known as EUTM, and the United Nations “Minusma” peacekeeping force there.

    Dpa reports the Cabinet also plans to extend Germany’s commitment to the EU’s anti-piracy mission Atalanta that operates off the Horn of Africa, but to reduce its maximum troop numbers from 600 to 400. There are currently 80 troops taking part.

    Germany currently has some 180 troops involved in the EUTM mission, with a maximum of 350. A further 900 are in Mali and Niger as part of the Minusma force, with a maximum of 1,100.

    Those troop commitments are to remain unchanged.”

    “A bomb injured at least 18 people Wednesday in a southern Philippine town in an attack believed to be either an extortion attempt or retaliation by Muslim militants targeted in recent military offensives, officials said.

    Regional army commander Maj. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana said the bomb went off outside a small restaurant in Isulan town in Sultan Kudarant province. Unidentified people had recently tried to extort money from the restaurant owner, who refused to pay up, he said.

    The attack also may have been carried out by Muslim militants belonging to the Bangsamoro Freedom Fighters who have been targeted by military offensives, Sobejana said.

    The explosion injured at least 18 people, including children, and damaged chairs and tables and scattered broken glass and other debris over the floor of the restaurant.

    “The owner received an extortion letter last week but it was not reported to authorities. The ultimatum (to pay) is this week,” Sobejana said.

    Isulan in Sultan Kudarat province has been hit by bombings by suspected Muslim militants in recent months despite tightened security in an impoverished southern region where the government and the largest Muslim rebel group are implementing a new Muslim autonomy deal. About 12,000 fighters of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front are to be demobilized under the peace accord brokered by Malaysia starting this year.

    The Bangsamoro Freedom Fighters and smaller allied groups which have aligned with the Islamic State group reject the peace deal and have vowed to continue fighting government forces.”

  16. CTV news – MONTREAL – Opponents of Bill 21 form human chain at Westmount High to protest

    Teachers and community members linked hands outside a Montreal high school this morning as about 150 people formed a human chain to protest the Quebec government’s secularism bill.

    Robert Green, who organized the event, called on all opponents of the bill to form a human chain around the high school beginning at 8 a.m.

    Teachers and parents were among those who encircled the perimeter of Westmount High on Sainte-Catherine St. between Hillside St. and Dorchester Blvd.

    In his appeal to participants, Green said the government’s bill is a hateful attack on the fundamental rights of teachers and students that cannot be tolerated in a democratic society.

    Many in the crowd donned kippas or hijabs in solidarity with those who could be locked out of the public service under the Coalition Avenir Quebec government’s legislation to ban the wearing of religious symbols by state employees in positions of authority.

    English teacher Farhana Begum says some of her students wear religious symbols, and she doesn’t want them to be told they can’t become a teacher, judge or police officer.

    She says it’s ridiculous to think that teachers who display their religion are less able to do their jobs or would try to convert their students to their beliefs.

    The Quebec government argues the bill is reasonable and aligns with the values of Quebecers, but opponents have denounced it as discriminatory.

    They say it unfairly targets religious minorities and especially Muslim women, since teachers who wear the hijab are among those who stand to be affected if the bill becomes law.

    Westmount Mayor Christina Smith’s said last Friday that the city would not be upholding the province’s secularism bill.

    In a statement, Smith said the bill stigmatizes certain groups, and legitimizes discrimination.

    Sue Montgomery, borough Mayor for Cote-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grace, also joined the chorus of opposition, telling CTV Montreal in a written message that “we’re not going to tell people what to wear.”

    A second large-scale demonstration is planned for this Sunday in downtown Montreal.

  17. Poland: ‘Yellow Vest’ protesters sound the alarm over struggling farms

    Farmers donned yellow vests and blared sirens during a noisy protest in Warsaw on Wednesday, as they demanded the government do more to help struggling farmers.

    The protest, organised by the agricultural protest group AgroUNIA, reportedly aimed to draw attention to farmers struggling with losses due to increased imports of produce from Ukraine, as well as the forced culling of pigs to prevent the spread of African swine fever.

    The protesters used manual sirens and blew horns to prevent family farms from falling “one after the other in[to] silence and oblivion,” according to the organiser’s Facebook page.

    A demonstration by AgroUNIA on Wednesday, March 13 caused major disruption as demonstrators blocked important streets, burned tyres, butchered pig carcasses and littered apples on the city’s streets.

  21. Australian Sheikh: Everyone Would Be Safe Under Shar’ia Because People Would Fear Allah’s Punishment

    Australian cleric Sheikh Jamil El Biza said in a video that was uploaded to the Internet on March 30, 2019 that everybody would be safe and secure if they followed shar’ia law because those who kill would be killed and thieves and fornicators would be punished accordingly.

    He said that nobody would dare hurt one another because people would fear the punishment.

    El Biza gave the example of the terrorist who perpetrated the Christchurch, NZ mosque massacre, who El Biza said did not fear death because he knew that imprisonment is the worst punishment he would face.

    El Biza added: “With shari’a, you would fear. If you don’t fear Allah, then fear [His] punishment.”

    The address was delivered at the Al-Azhar Mosque in Belmore, a suburb of Sydney. The video was uploaded to the Albayan Radio YouTube channel. Albayan Radio is a Sydney-based radio station and is an ASWJ (Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaah) Australia initiative.

  22. Qatari Sociologist Abad Al-Aziz Al-Khazraj Al-Ansari Demonstrates Correct Wife-Beating in Islam

    On March 29, 2019, Qatari sociologist Abd Al-Aziz Al-Khazraj Al-Ansari uploaded a video to the Al-Mojtama YouTube channel in which he gave a demonstration and explanation about how to beat your wife in an Islamically permissible fashion.

    He said that it is not necessary to beat one’s wife frequently, but that a man – as the leader of the house – must sometimes exercise his authority and discipline his wife “out of love” so that “life can move on.”

    Al-Ansari said that the beating should be light and painless, and that it should make the wife feel her husband’s masculinity and strength, as well as her own femininity.

    Al-Ansari then demonstrated how to beat one’s wife on Nayef – a little boy who might be his son – by slapping him on the shoulders, grabbing him and shaking him, and saying loudly: “I told you not to leave the house! How many times do I have to tell you?”

    Al-Ansari said that punching your wife or striking her in the face is prohibited and explained that it is in some women’s nature to like domineering, authoritative, violent, and powerful husbands.

    Two recent instances have struck me forcefully as intellectually alarming and discordant with the heritage and values of Western civilization. They both come from discourse on what we might call the “right,” in the sense that the voices are not from either the lockstep progressive left or the mushy “center,” where irreconcilable positions on politics tend to coexist in an uneasy stasis – mainly through incurious neglect.

    At least one author might not agree with being placed on the right, and I’ll get to that in a moment. (Given where he was published, and the nature of his topic, he may prefer “libertarian.”

    “Rising ‘Islamophobia’ in Germany is behind anti-Semitic attitudes amongst Muslim youths living in the country, according to a study by taxpayer-funded “experts”.

    The findings of a three-year project to highlight and tackle anti-Semitism in Muslim school pupils in Germany were published in a report announced by the Federal Agency for Civic Education (FACE) Monday, entitled ‘Extremism out — Empowerment instead of anti-Semitism’.

    The three-year project saw “experts” from the Liberal Islamic Federation and the Ibis Institute for Interdisciplinary Counseling and Intercultural Seminars work at schools on a programme aiming to “shed light on and dispel anti-Semitic attitudes among young people who follow the Muslim faith in order to empower and support them in understanding their independence and autonomy as part of German society”.

    Funded by the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF), the programme was piloted at schools in Dinslaken and Duisburg with a view to rolling it out at more schools across the country.

    According to the 178-page report, so-called Islamophobia in Germany along with the allegedly “profound, traumatic consequences” of “discrimination and violating experiences” that they face in the country play a big part in Muslim anti-Semitism.

    Educators should tackle “the challenge of dealing with” anti-Semitic attitudes in “adolescent members of the Muslim faith”, many of whom have been “devalued and discriminated themselves against as a result of Islamophobia”, by “mak[ing] them aware of other forms of group-focused enmity” where they can recognise others’ “socially marginalised position”, the report says.

    Asserting that “many members of Germany’s Muslim minority are looking for an even smaller minority to scapegoat for their own discriminatory theories”, it states that “the full inconsistency of these views only becomes clear when the teenagers learn their minority… is in a similar victim position”.

    “From this perspective, they then demand similar solidarity processes as are had by organisations for the Jewish community,” says the report, though it stresses that teachers should use language in a “sensitive, conscious” way to impress upon young people that Germany is a “nation of immigrants” with no differentiation between “The Germans” and “The Muslims”.

    In addition to Islamophobia, the study also noted there was “a clear connection between fundamentalist religious views and anti-Semitism” and “so-called Israel criticism and anti-Semitism among Muslim youths”, the background of which it said stems from an “imagined Muslim or ethnic collective identity”.”

    Reflecting on his recent visit to Morocco, the pope told pilgrims gathered in Saint Peter’s Square for his weekly audience that he had focused on the issue of migrants during his trip, both in meeting with the Moroccan authorities and especially in meeting with the migrants themselves.

    “Some of them testified that the lives of those who emigrate changes and goes back to being human when they find a community that welcomes them as a person. This is fundamental,” he said.

    “The Church in Morocco is very committed to being close to migrants,” Francis said, before departing from his prepared text to speak off-the-cuff.

    “I don’t like to say ‘migrants.’ I prefer to say ‘migrant people,’” he said. “Do you know why? Because ‘migrant’ is an adjective, while the term ‘person’ is a noun. We have fallen into an adjective culture: we use many adjectives and we often forget the nouns, that is, the substance.”

    “An adjective must always be tied to a noun, to a person, therefore: ‘a migrant person.’ Thus there is respect and one does not fall into this culture of the adjective that is too liquid, too ‘gaseous,’” he said.

    “The Church in Morocco — I was saying — is very committed to being close to migrant people, and so I wanted to thank and encourage those who generously spend themselves in their service by fulfilling the words of Christ: ‘I was a stranger and you welcomed me’ (Mt 25:35),” he said.

    The pope also reiterated his appreciation for the United Nations “Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration,” which was signed in Marrakech last December.

    The pact represented “an important step towards assuming responsibility on the part of the international community,” he said, adding that the Holy See had contributed to the process by offering four verbs to sum up a proper attitude toward immigration: “welcoming migrants, protecting migrants, promoting migrants and integrating migrants.”

    Returning from Morocco to Rome, the pope raised a stir on Sunday by comparing modern European populism to Adolf Hitler while dissing President Trump’s proposed border wall.

    Asked about Mr. Trump by name, the pope warned that “builders of walls, whether they are of razor-wire or brick, will become prisoners of the walls they build. That’s history.”

    “A 38-year-old illegal African migrant, who was set to be deported and has operated under 13 different identities, is facing trial for the murder of a French couple that occurred in December 2015.

    The couple, whose first names were Elise and Julian, were found dead in an apartment in Rouen only a few days before Christmas. Jean Claude Nsengumukiza, 38, was later arrested in connection with the murder and the rape of 24-year-old Elise, France Bleu reports.

    Startlingly, the 38-year-old who has claimed to be originally from Rwanda, but has also said he was from Uganda, was released from prison only a month before the rape and murder and was set for a deportation that never took place.

    Coming to France in 2002, Mr Nsengumukiza claimed that he had experienced trauma during the Rwandan genocide in the 1990s and had watched the mass murder of innocent people. He said that he had been threatened in his native country and sought asylum in Europe.

    Since then, the 38-year-old has been no stranger to law enforcement and the French criminal justice system, having 14 criminal convictions during that time for driving while intoxicated, carrying a dangerous weapon, theft, and reportedly he had broken into several women’s houses.

    In 2011, he was convicted and sentenced for rape, though he himself denied the crime saying that the act had been consensual. His own lawyer in the case was forced to admit Nsengumukiza has issues with understanding reality.

    The case bears some similarity to that of a Ghanian migrant in 2017 who entered the tent of a German couple who were camping in a meadow near the city of Bonn. The failed asylum seeker, armed with a machete, raped a 23-year-old woman while threatening to murder her boyfriend if he interfered.

    The case also comes less than a month after the arrest of three migrants from Algeria in Spain who have been accused of torturing and murdering a 28-year-old man in France and live-streaming the entire ordeal on social media.”

    CBC News reports that a publicly-funded agency provided loans to engineering firm SNC-Lavalin that may have used by the firm to pay bribes. Export Development Canada (EDC) is a government agency that provides financing and insurance to Canadian companies that operate in foreign countries.

    SNC-Lavalin has benefited from millions of dollars of help from EDC for large engineering projects around the world.

    EDC denies it had any knowledge that its loans may have been used improperly but it has hired legal counsel to review the issue, reports CBC.

    EDC news likely to add fuel to the fire

    High political drama has made news headlines daily. If some Canadians did not closely follow the original issue of alleged political interference with the judiciary, they may pay more attention to allegations their tax dollars may have been spent by a huge company to pay bribes. This may feed the fury against the rich which is rampaging through the western world.

    Canada’s prime minister and his aides have not had much luck putting the SNC-Lavalin issue to bed. With an election coming in October 2019 the opposition parties have worked hard to keep it alive and to do as much political damage as possible. They will no doubt continue to do so.

    The prime minister and his Liberal Party had already suffered a decline in popularity before this latest news about the EDC financing.

    “A non-profit partially funded by controversial billionaire activist George Soros paid firms tied to Fusion GPS and dossier author Christopher Steele over US$3.8 million in 2017 to provide research and analysis to “government entities”, IRS filings have revealed.

    The payments — made by The Democracy Integrity Project (TDIP) — are more than three times the funding Fusion GPS and Steele received from by the DNC and Hillary Clinton’s campaign during the 2016 presidential campaign.

    Perkins Coie, the law firm that represented the DNC and Clinton campaign, paid US$1 million to Fusion GPS in 2016 to investigate Trump — Fusion GPS in turn paid Steele, a former MI6 operative, almost US$170,000 for the project that would eventually produce the infamous ‘Trump-Russia’ dossier.

    The report, alleging a long-running and “well-coordinated conspiracy” between the Trump campaign and the Russian government, is now the subject of intense criticism and scrutiny following the conclusion of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s 22-month-long probe into the allegations, which found no evidence of collusion.

    What Integrity?

    TDIP was founded 31st January 2017 by Daniel J. Jones — former staffer to California Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein — in order to resume the DNC’s investigation of Trump’s illusory links to Russia.

    He operated what amounted to, in his own words, a “shadow media organization helping the government” to investigate alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

    Little is known about the full extent of TDIP’s activities, and the identities of most of its donors are anonymous — although in October 2018 the New York Times revealed George Soros had funded the shadowy group to the tune of US$1 million, and was considering whether to give even more in future.

    The organisation’s ‘form 990′ sheds further light on the organisation’s activities — it states the group planned to work with a “network of experienced organizations and individuals” to gather information on “efforts of foreign actors…to interfere in democratic elections around the world”.

    TDIP is said to have received just over US$7 million in contributions in 2017, spending just under US$5 million — Jones received a salary of US$381,263, and spent US$95,914 on travel.

    The 990 form lists TDIP’s five “highest compensated” separate independent contractors, four of which provided the organisation with “research consulting”, and law firm Zuckerman Spaeder, which has represented Fusion GPS in legal matters relating to the dossier.

    TDIP funds reached Fusion GPS via holding company Bean LLC. Another US$250,000 was paid to Walsingham Partners Ltd., a London-based firm owned by Steele and his partner Christopher Burrows, while around US$150,000 was paid to London-based intelligence firm Istok Associates. The company has released a series of reports investigating alleged Russian funding of Brexit, although has to date been unable to substantiate the charge.

    Tangled Web
    Istok is just one of many questionable entities with which TDIP has unclear connections. In October 2018, its founder Neil Barnett co-authored a report for The Atlantic Council, the NATO-funded ‘think tank’, on British businessman Arron Banks’ contributions to the Brexit campaign.

    In the document, Barnett suggested the Trump campaign received millions of dollars in illicit donations, potentially from Russia — he provided no evidence, merely arguing the Kremlin could have exploited donation rules by simply repeatedly donating US$200, the maximum amount that can be given to political campaigns without a donor needing to disclose their name and address.

    Likewise, one of TDIP’s founders and board members is Adam Kaufmann, who has served as an attorney for Derwick Associates, a firm that’s been accused of money laundering and embezzlement — and enlisted the services of Fusion GPS in 2014. Its been alleged Fusion GPS cofounder Peter Fritsch subsequently pressured journalists to ease off critical reporting of Derwick.

    TDIP has also worked closely with New Knowledge, a dubious cybersecurity firm, on a website called Disinfo2018, which tracked stories allegedly being perpetuated by Russian bots during the 2018 US midterms.

    New Knowledge made headlines that year when it was revealed it ran a highly dubious ‘influence operation’ to damage former state supreme court judge Roy Moore’s 2017 Alabama Senate campaign.

    By the firm’s own admission, it “orchestrated an elaborate ‘false flag’ operation that planted the idea Moore’s campaign was amplified on social media by a Russian botnet”, and sought to perpetuate sexual assault allegations against Moore to “enrage and energize Democrats” and “depress turnout” among Republicans.

    As documented by Grayzone Project, New Knowledge created a Facebook page aimed at appealing to conservative Alabamians, encouraging them to endorse obscure candidate Mac Watson instead of Moore. They also contacted Watson directly via the bogus page, stating they would endorse him, and asking whether he trusted anyone “to set up a super PAC that could receive funding”.

    They also offered advice on “how to sharpen his appeal to disenchanted Republican voters”, and arranged interviews for him with The Montgomery Advertiser and Washington Post. Simultaneously, Watson’s Twitter following leaped from 100 to over 10,000.

    Many of those new followers were undoubtedly bots, perhaps created by New Knowledge itself — but ironically, the firm flooded the US media with allegations that thousands of Moore’s Twitter followers were Russian bots. Local paper Montgomery Observer was first to regurgitate the claims, publishing an article in October 2017 — Russian invasion? Roy Moore sees spike in?Twitter followers from?land of?Putin – which was duly picked up by many other outlets.

    Troublingly, TDIP is but one shadowy non-profit run by Jones — on 29th January 2018, he registered Advance Democracy Inc, which received start-up funds of US$500,000 from the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, a donor-advised fund that anonymises its contributors.”

    The San Antonio Airport was rated as the sixth worst airport in the country. So, the city fathers got together and decided to fix the airport by banning businesses that donate to the Salvation Army.

    “San Antonio is a city full of compassion, and we do not have room in our public facilities for a business with a legacy of anti-LGBTQ behavior,” San Antonio Councilman Roberto Trevino declared, after blocking Chick-fil-A from opening at the airport.

    Does Chick-fil-A prohibit gay people from buying chicken? No, but they donate to the Salvation Army.

    Local media and ThinkProgress claimed that the move was in response to a report by the leftist anti-religious site accusing Chick-fil-A of giving charitable donations to groups with “anti-LGBTQ records”.

    What are those groups? The Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Salvation Army.

    Specifically, the Chick-fil-A Foundation donated $1,653,416 to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and $150,000 to the Salvation Army. The FCA was denounced by ThinkProgress for its “sexual purity” policy. And what did the bell ringers of the Salvation Army trying to raise money for the poor do wrong?

    According to TP, the Salvation Army is an anti-gay hate group because it “at the time of the donations had a written policy of merely complying with local ‘relevant employment laws’” which “since changed to indicate a national policy of non-discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.”

    I place the common avocado on a scale of edibility somewhere between a live goat and a boiled cactus. But in Caifornia, avocados are practically the state fruit, even though they’re widely imported from Mexico. This has led to the clickbait headline certain to fear into every hipster’s heart. If the border is closed, the avocado supply will be cut off.

    Two things.

    1. Edible avocados are already all but impossible to find in Southern California. They’re either overripe or stony. And horribly overpriced.

    More than a million people, for no reason other than their ethnicity or religion, are held in concentration camps in what Beijing calls the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and what traditional inhabitants of the area, the Uighurs, say is East Turkestan.     Families in this troubled area, shown on maps as the northwestern portion of the People’s Republic of China, are being torn apart. The children of imprisoned Uighur and Kazakh parents are “confined” to “schools” that are separated from the outside by barbed wire and heavy police patrols. They are denied instruction in their own language, forced to learn Mandarin Chinese. The controls are part of a so-called “Hanification” policy, a program of forced assimilation. “Han” is the name of China’s dominant ethnic group.

    Because Uighurs and Kazakhs are dying in the camps in considerable numbers, Beijing is building crematoria to eradicate burial traditions while disposing of corpses.

    The camps, a crime against humanity, are spreading. China is now building similar facilities, given various euphemistic names such as “vocational training centers,” in Tibet, in China’s southwest.

In January, far-left Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) introduced a bill in the House to abolish the Electoral College, which he has since foolishly claimed was “conceived in sin” to perpetuate slavery. Yesterday, a group of Democrats introduced a companion measure to Cohen’s bill.     He’s only been out of office for a few years, but it’s still refreshing to hear a politician articulate the importance of travel and the benefits of tourism.

    Barack Obama did a lot for travel and tourism during his time as U.S. president, and his stock in the industry has only risen since his successor took over.

    Borders, walls, and restricting immigration have been featured heavily during the Trump presidency so it’s no surprise that Obama has different views.

    This situation isn’t restricted to just the United States. Outbreaks of populism, nativism, and xenophobia have erupted across Europe and elsewhere.

    “Whether it’s Brexit in the UK or the political upheavals that have happened in the United States or some of the surge in populism in continental Europe, all of those are not just reactions to economic changes but also a reaction to people feeling that their status is being eroded or the assumption [of] what their country is being undermined, and they want to either put up genuine walls or metaphorical walls to preserve what they think they have,” Obama told delegates at the World Travel and Tourism Council’s 2019 Global Summit in Seville, Spain, on Wednesday.

    But, Obama said, putting up borders cannot solve the economic and cultural issues parts of the world face.

    “If we try to reassert these very hard fixed borders at a time when technology and information are borderless, not only will we fail, but I think we are going to see greater and greater conflict and greater and greater clashes between peoples,” he said.

    “I think making the case to governments and leaders about the economic benefits and values of tourism obviously is the easiest way to get their attention because there’s no government and no leader on the planet right now who’s not thinking about how I make sure that the economy is growing and people are gainfully employed…,” Obama said.

    Being clear and coherent about what governments can do to help, or speaking out if they are doing something that is hindering tourism, is also crucial.

    Obama gave an example from his two terms in office of streamlining foreign tourist visas in fast-growing countries such as Brazil and China.

    “That’s an example of something that is concrete and it’s specific and with all the things that most government have on their plate it’s important to make things simple for them, narrow it down, as opposed to just a general ‘can you help us with tourism?’” he said.

    The FBI on Tuesday rejected a FOIA request from The Federalist for emails sent to and from CNN the day of the pre-dawn raid of Roger Stone where CNN just so happened to be camping out.

    “Please provide all e-mails sent to or received from any account with a ‘cnn.com’ domain from January 24, 2019 through January 25, 2019,” The Federalist wrote in its FOIA request.

    House Committee on Oversight and Reform chair Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) wrote to former Fox News reporter Diana Falzone last month demanding that she turn over any documents relating to Trump’s alleged extramarital affairs.
