AUSTRALIA – Alleged Christchurch massacre supporter has internet ban upheld, calls media ‘animals’
An Adelaide man charged after allegedly posting comments online in support of the Christchurch terrorist attack has lost his bid to be allowed to use the internet again.
Chad Rolf Vinzelberg, 37, was charged with possessing a firearm without a licence and four counts of possessing prohibited weapons after police searched his northern suburbs home last month.
The search was prompted by a series of comments Mr Vinzelberg had allegedly posted on social media supporting the Christchurch massacre and praising the terrorist responsible.
The Adelaide Magistrates Court heard his online profile photo showed him holding a gun and during the search police found a loaded firearm underneath his mattress as well as an extendable baton and two flick knives.
A medieval mace and a crossbow were allegedly found in his shed.
Mr Vinzelberg was granted bail during his first court hearing on the condition that he would not use the internet.
On Tuesday, he represented himself from the dock and called on the court to change that condition.
He said he ran his own “handyman business” but also claimed to have lost his job.
“I do need the internet to find a job as the media have blown this up, they have made a mountain out of a pile and I have lost my job over that,” Mr Vinzelberg said.
“I’m the sole income earner of the family, I’ve got a wife and three kids and a mortgage.”
Magistrate Brett Dixon refused to grant the request.
Outside court on Tuesday Mr Vinzelberg referred to members of the media as “animals”.
“You animals made me lose my job because you blow this up,” he said.
“I want a job … can I put my resume in at your office?”
During a previous court hearing, police said Mr Vinzelberg posed a genuine concern for the safety of the community and that authorities were conducting further investigations into other devices found at his home.
His lawyer on that occasion told the court the items were ornamental and were on display in his client’s “man cave”.
Mr Vinzelberg was not charged in relation to the alleged online material.
The matter will return to court in December.
Police have ‘paid more attention to mosques’
SA Police Assistant Commissioner Noel Bamford said officers were continuing to monitor groups and individuals with extremist views.
His comments were not made in the context of the ongoing court case, but he said police had “certainly paid more attention to mosques”.
“There are both far left and far right groups in South Australia,” Mr Bamford told ABC Radio Adelaide.
“We’re not talking an armed force of people.
“There are people we’ve come across who’ve had firearms and we’ve taken action against them for that.”

Yale Law School Yanks Stipends From Students Who Work For Christian Firms
Several weeks ago, I wrote about the challenges of being a Christian and a conservative at Yale Law School. A few days ago, the law school decided to double down and prove my point.
After the Yale Federalist Society invited an attorney from Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), a prominent Christian legal group, to speak about the Masterpiece Cakeshop case, conservative students faced backlash. Outlaws, the law school’s LGBTQ group, demanded that Yale Law School “clarify” its admissions policies for students who support ADF’s positions. Additionally, Outlaws insisted that students who work for religious or conservative public interest organizations such as ADF during their summers should not receive financial support from the law school.

Acting on “credible” intelligence reports that indicated some senior ISWA leaders and fighters arrived at Magari in northern Borno state on Friday, the Air Force conducted Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions which “confirmed increased level of human activities in the settlement with a prominent ISWAP flag observed near 2 compounds in the settlement indicating the presence of high level leaders,” Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, Nigerian Air Force Director of Public Relations and Information said in the release.
An air interdiction mission was conducted on Monday, when two Alpha Jet aircraft supported by an ISR platform attacked “identified compounds within the settlement,” Daramola said.
“The bombs from the 2 Alpha Jets recorded direct hits on the target compounds resulting in destruction of several structures, which were seen engulfed in flames. Several of the terrorists were also neutralized in the process.”

The Deeper Meaning of China’s Base in Tajikistan
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: It is au courant among analysts and scholars to compare modern-day China to early 20th-century Germany, in that it too is a rising power that desires a larger role for itself in world affairs. But a better comparison might be with the United States of the late 19th-early 20th century. The US of that era presented itself as non-interventionist, but it also proclaimed a “manifest destiny” to expand its influence.
Western media outlets recently announced that China has built military facilities on the Tajik side of the Tajik-Chinese border. This move is significant, as it is the first confirmation (following earlier unconfirmed reports) of a Chinese military/semi-military presence in the Central Asia region.
The area where the Chinese facilities are located is strategically important for two reasons: it overlooks one of the crucial entry points from China into Central Asia, and it is close to the vital corridor through which the country connects to the Afghan heartland. That corridor is essential to China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
Put into a wider context, the opening of this new base might worry Moscow, as Central Asia is perceived by the Russians as within their sphere of influence. For Moscow, modern-day Central Asia is especially important as it is the only region where the Kremlin can still project its influence through military and economic means. Chinese military/security measures are a challenge to Russian pillars of power in this region.

There are several points where I have to disagree with the author:
1: He mentions the Manifest Destiny that the young US stated it had and puts this in the early 20th Century (he refers to this time as 100 years ago), this time period was frm the late 1790s to the Middle 1800s. By 1900 we were past that idea.
2: The author talks about China working to peacefully project its influence around the world. This is Bull $h1t. Everyone who reads the VTB knows that China is using its military power to try and bully it’s neighbors into surrendering strategic locations and minerals. China was also threatening to sink US Naval vessels until a few days ago. Also yesterday China Uncensored posted a video asking if Taiwan needed nuclear weapons to maintain its independence from the Mainland.
3: The author talks about China’s strong economy, this is more bull China has a very weak economy, it is so bad the CCP had to publish bad economic numbers for the past quarter. If the CCP was willing to publish bad numbers how much worse were the real numbers?

Bouchachi had suggested Bouteflika’s nomination of a caretaker government was a move to perpetuate the current political system.
“What is important to us is that we do not accept the (new caretaker) government. Peaceful protests will continue.”
A veteran of Algeria’s war for independence, Bouteflika was first elected president in 1999 and established himself by ending a civil war with Islamist militants that killed an estimated 200,000 people.

CTV News – Boyle’s violence got worse as captivity wore on, Coleman tells court
OTTAWA — Joshua Boyle’s criminal trial heard allegations Tuesday from his estranged wife about his violent tendencies towards her before, during and after their captivity in Afghanistan, and the sordid details of their sexual lives that are now subject to charges he faces.
On the second day of her cross-examination, Caitlan Coleman talked about Boyle’s increasingly unsettled state as their time as hostages wore on, and her hope the beatings she suffered in captivity would end with their release.
The couple were kidnapped in October 2012 by a Taliban-linked group during a backpacking trip while Coleman was pregnant with the first of the couple’s three children — all of whom were born before the family’s high-profile rescue by Pakistani forces in 2017.
Boyle had violent tendencies before their kidnapping, but he became increasingly abusive towards her, Coleman testified. There was a reprieve of about two weeks after the couple returned to Canada in October 2017, raising her hopes that his behaviour had changed for good.
Instead, she said, trouble started anew and Boyle was arrested on Dec. 31, 2017.
In February, Coleman wrote an email to Boyle’s sister, Heather, saying she was “sorry that your brother has deteriorated like this,” that he “always had mental health problems, but he was not a violent person before captivity.”
That email wasn’t entirely true, she said.
“I was trying to outline some of the abuses, but at the same time be compassionate to her. My wording was not necessarily always 100 per cent correct, especially as far as adjectives,” she said.
“I exaggerated how good Josh was before captivity and I think I wanted to — yes, I exaggerated it out of compassion to make him sound a bit more sympathetic to his sister.”
Boyle, 35, has pleaded not guilty to several offences against Coleman, including assault, sexual assault and unlawful confinement that allegedly took place after the couple returned to Canada.
He was arrested in the early hours of Dec. 31, 2017 after Coleman ran shoeless into the frigid Ottawa cold, wearing mutiple layers of socks to protect her feet, as she frantically knocked on doors for help.
Police arrested Boyle that night after hearing Coleman’s description of what she went through.
The focus of questioning Tuesday turned to the couple’s sexual lives, including bondage and sado-masochism activities, which Coleman says she agreed to only because Boyle didn’t want to hear no for an answer.
She reviewed an inventory of items from Boyle’s so-called “BDSM” bag — mouse traps, ropes, clamps, blindfolds taken from Air Canada flights, dog toys used as gags, and a prescription for erectile dysfunction — which was organized in a photo taken by police investigators.
Defence lawyer Lawrence Greenspon went through each item with her, then reviewed details of Coleman’s earlier testimony, asking her about her memory of an incident on Nov. 27, 2017.
Coleman had previously told court about how on that night she refused Boyle’s request to try anal sex. An argument ensued. Coleman said she threatened to take their three children, Boyle hit her and ordered her to the bedroom where she described being tied up naked on the couple’s bed.
Coleman testified on Tuesday that she couldn’t recall exactly how she got on the bed.
Greenspon pored over details of her earlier testimony about her rocky relationship with Boyle, the allegations of domestic violence and forced sex, repeatedly asking Coleman if what she said was an accurate recollection of events.
The back-and-forth was punctuated near the end of the day when Greenspon and Coleman sparred over the details of her statement to police, and parts of the transcription Coleman disputed.
“Sorry, I’m a little uncomfortable with how this is a little bit intimidating sometimes,” Coleman told Greenspon, sitting at the opposite corner of a table in an adjacent room, her testimony being fed into the main courtroom via video feed.
“I know you don’t mean to be, but it’s kind of triggering to how Josh treated me at times.”
“Oh, I see,” Greenspon said.
“I’m sorry,” she continued. “You’ve never done anything to me, but it’s a little reflective of some times in my past.”
Greenspon is expected to finish his cross-examination Wednesday, with one of Coleman’s sisters scheduled to take the stand in the afternoon.

CBC – Joshua Boyle not ‘overall a violent person’ before captivity, trial hears
Former hostage Caitlan Coleman said that for the most part her estranged husband Joshua Boyle was not violent before spending years in captivity.
Defence lawyer Lawrence Greenspon continued Coleman’s cross-examination Tuesday in Ottawa where she appeared via closed circuit television in the courtroom.
Boyle, 35, has pleaded not guilty to 19 charges, including assault with a weapon, sexual assault and forcible confinement.
Coleman, 33, is the alleged victim in 17 of the charges Boyle is facing.
He was charged a few months after the couple returned to Canada in October 2017 with the three children they had while being held captive for five years in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Greenspon questioned Coleman about an email she had sent to Boyle’s sister in February 2018 in which Coleman expressed how sorry she was that Boyle had “deteriorated like this,” adding that he was never violent before captivity. The email also said that during captivity he was the victim of constant death threats and violence.
Coleman told the court she was exaggerating about the frequency of the threats to Boyle out of compassion, to make him sound a bit more sympathetic to his sister.
She said she was also downplaying Boyle’s violent behaviour prior to captivity.
When asked directly if he was overall a violent person before captivity Coleman answered “for the most part he wasn’t.”
On Monday, the Crown’s first witness, registered social worker Deborah Sinclair, testified in general terms about abusive relationships and how victims of abuse and trauma behave.
She told the court that in captivity, the torture and mistreatment of an abuser may make him more likely to redirect that trauma to the victim, thereby giving him a sense of control.
During that cross examination by Greenspon, Sinclair conceded she hasn’t done formal, peer-reviewed research on how prolonged captivity affects relationships, and that she therefore can’t say what effects five years of captivity might have on a relationship.
Contents of BDSM bag
Just before midday Tuesday, Greenspon began to question Coleman about the contents of Boyle’s BDSM bag that was brought up during her examination-in-chief.
Coleman testified the equipment in the bag was “at times” used during sex between the couple and that the ropes were used to tie up her hands and legs during an alleged assault on Nov. 27, 2017.
Greenspon suggested that the last time Coleman and Boyle used items from the bag was Dec. 29, 2017, and Coleman said she couldn’t say with certainty, because she tries to block out the trauma of the nights near the end of her time with Boyle.
“After the children went to bed was one of the more frightening times to me,” she told the court.
Boyle was arrested and taken into custody on the night of Dec. 30, 2017, and Coleman told the court she then returned to their apartment and collected all the BDSM items around the house and put them back in the black bag to give to police.

Cross-examination continued
After lunch, Greenspon began to question Coleman about the alleged assaults beginning with Nov. 5, 2017.
Coleman testified that following an argument Boyle had forced her to get in the shower and brought her three Trazodone pills — his antidepressant drug — insisting she take them.
Greenspon asked whether Coleman was aware that in the weeks prior to Boyle’s arrest he had been contacted by Coleman’s mother who was questioning whether her daughter needed an emergency delivery of a drug used to treat anxiety as a result of her “fits.”
Coleman said she was not aware.
On Friday, Coleman testified in graphic detail about two sexual assaults and another assault allegedly involving Boyle, one in which she was left tied up afterward.
She told court she got into an argument with Boyle on Nov. 12, 2017.
Greenspon suggested that in that case it was not Boyle attacking Coleman, but Coleman attacking him.
Coleman felt attacked
When Greenspon began questioning Coleman about a statement she gave police in December 2017 Coleman said she was feeling attacked.
“I’m sorry, you’ve never done anything to me but it’s a little reflective of sometimes in my past,” she said.
Greenspon said for the record that he was sitting at a table with Coleman in a separate room with the Crown and another lawyer who he had deliberately placed in between himself and Coleman.
Coleman’s cross-examination will continue Wednesday.

“Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Tuesday urged nations to reject all forms of terrorism and said Islamophobia is a big threat to the world.
Cavusoglu spoke at the United Nation General Assembly’s 73rd plenary meeting, where a draft resolution was introduced on the elimination of racism, racial discrimination, and xenophobia.
“Islamophobia and racism go hand in hand,” Cavusoglu said, referring to the Christchurch attacks in New Zealand last month, where a white nationalist terrorist killed at least 50 Muslim worshippers.
The terrorist was condemned by countries all across the world, with New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern describing it as one of the darkest days in the nation’s history.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation also organized an emergency meeting, at the request of Turkey, and requested the UN name March 15, the date the attack happened, a day of solidarity against Islamophobia.
Cavusoglu said that there should be a declaration put forth so that nations can mobilize in a global manner to show that all are a part of humanity.
“We cannot ignore violence,” he said. “We have to have one common voice against these acts of violence.”
Turkey’s top diplomat also told the UN that terrorism should not be associated with any religion.
“We should all reject the use of words such as Islamic terrorism, Christian terrorism, Jewish terrorism or Buddhist terrorism,” Cavusoglu said.
He added that the ideology of terrorism “does not have a religion, a language, a race, or nation.”
Last year, then-U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs Wess Mitchell said that Turkey suffered more casualties from terrorism over the past few years than any other American ally.

“TWO men are fighting for their lives after being stabbed in Wembley, a day after Prime Minister Theresa May’s knife violence summit.
The men, aged in their twenties, were rushed to hospital in life-threatening conditions after being stabbed on Empire Way, northwest London. Police were called to the scene outside student accommodation just before 8.30pm. An area has been cordoned off but no arrests have been made.
The incident is the latest in a wave of knife crime across the country.
Police said on Twitter: “Officers are in Empire Way #Wembley HA9 after two men in their 20s were stabbed this evening.
“Police were called at 20.21hrs. Both victims in hospital in life threatening condition. No arrests.”
It comes after Mrs May hosted a summit in Downing Street on Monday in a bid to get a grip on the crisis.
She warned “we cannot simply arrest ourselves” out of the problem.
The Prime Minister also announced new measures which could see teachers, nurses and police officers held to account for failing to “spot warning signs” of violent crime among young people.
Opening the event, Mrs May said: “In the recent months we know we have seen an appalling number of young lives cut short or devastated by serious violent crime, including of course a number of horrifying incidents that took place just over this weekend.
“As we look at what’s happened, of course what we also see is that in many cases the perpetrators of these crimes are as young as their victims and this is something that has to be something of deep concern to us all.”
The Prime Minister said the problem affects “us collectively as a society” and must be tackled in a “co-ordinated” way.
She added: “Of course we will always make sure that the resources and tools are there to be able to apprehend and deal with those who are carrying and using knives and that the police have what they need to do.
“But we cannot simply arrest ourselves out of this problem. This is a wider problem, it is more deep-seated and we have to have a more coordinated effort.”
