IDTechEX forecasts the number, unit value and market value of the global market for three separate categories – personal/ toy drones, other small drones and large drones whether hybrid or pure electric. It estimates the percentage with cameras over the years. Over all categories, the report concludes that the market will grow very rapidly to reach a total figure of $4.5 billion in 2025 and that the benefits reaped by these craft will be a multiple of that in agriculture and many other applications.
IDTechEx says that electric power is optimal for most future UAV needs. Intelligently swarming robot flies and robot bats are among the many examples of new capabilities made possible by electric power in UAVs. The better known category of quadcopters is also covered. To put electric drones in the context of non-electric drones, the report also forecasts size of the non-electric drone market, which is almost entirely military. This operational tracking system will provide the ability to outfit commercial and hobbyist UAV platforms with the technology to send real-time flight data transmission based on worldwide cellular networks.
Airware offers hardware, software and a cloud service platform for commercial UAVs and is now collaborating with NASA to test a diverse set of aircraft, sensors, and custom software for aircraft spacing, collision avoidance and 4D trajectory modeling. The project will use fixed-wing, multi-rotor, flying-wing, gas-powered, and battery-powered aircraft to best simulate operational scenarios.

Boeing Autonomous Passenger Air Vehicle Completes First Flight
Boeing NeXt program tests prototype to advance safety and technology of urban air mobility
Electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicle has design range of up to 50 miles
MANASSAS, Va., Jan. 23, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — Boeing [NYSE: BA] yesterday successfully completed the first test flight of its autonomous passenger air vehicle (PAV) prototype in Manassas, Virginia. Boeing NeXt, which leads the company’s urban air mobility efforts, utilized Boeing subsidiary Aurora Flight Sciences to design and develop the electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and will continue testing to advance the safety and reliability of on-demand autonomous air transportation.
The PAV prototype completed a controlled takeoff, hover and landing during the flight, which tested the vehicle’s autonomous functions and ground control systems. Future flights will test forward, wing-borne flight, as well as the transition phase between vertical and forward-flight modes. This transition phase is typically the most significant engineering challenge for any high-speed VTOL aircraft.
“In one year, we have progressed from a conceptual design to a flying prototype,” said Boeing Chief Technology Officer Greg Hyslop. “Boeing’s expertise and innovation have been critical in developing aviation as the world’s safest and most efficient form of transportation, and we will continue to lead with a safe, innovative and responsible approach to new mobility solutions.”
Powered by an electric propulsion system, the PAV prototype is designed for fully autonomous flight from takeoff to landing, with a range of up to 50 miles (80.47 kilometers). Measuring 30 feet (9.14 meters) long and 28 feet (8.53 meters) wide, its advanced airframe integrates the propulsion and wing systems to achieve efficient hover and forward flight.
“This is what revolution looks like, and it’s because of autonomy,” said John Langford, president and chief executive officer of Aurora Flight Sciences. “Certifiable autonomy is going to make quiet, clean and safe urban air mobility possible.”
The test flight represents the latest milestone for Boeing NeXt. The division works with regulatory agencies and industry partners to lead the responsible introduction of a new mobility ecosystem and ensure a future where autonomous and piloted air vehicles safely coexist. In addition to the PAV, the Boeing NeXt portfolio includes an unmanned fully electric cargo air vehicle (CAV) designed to transport up to 500 pounds (226.80 kilograms) and other urban, regional and global mobility platforms. The CAV completed its first indoor flight last year and will transition to outdoor flight testing in 2019.

China’s foreign ministry on Friday vowed to expend all legal efforts to defend its citizens and companies from “political suppression” as a major Chinese tech company faces legal battles in the U.S.
The Associated Press reports that Foreign Minister Wang Yi called legal action against tech giant Huawei and its top executive “deliberate political suppression” at a news conference, as the tech firm faces criminal charges in the U.S.
“Recent actions against specific Chinese enterprises and individuals are not simply judicial cases, but deliberate political suppression,” he said.
“We also support companies and individuals using legal weapons to protect their rights and interests and not to be silent lambs,” Wang continued, according to the AP.
The U.S. is currently seeking the extradition of Huawei Chief Financial Officer Meng Wanzhou, who was arrested earlier this year in Vancouver, Canada, at the Trump administration’s request.
Meng and Huawei are both facing criminal charges from the Justice Department, including a 10-count indictment that accuses Huawei of conspiracy to steal trade secrets and wire fraud.
“Huawei and its senior executives repeatedly refused to respect the laws of the United States and standard international business practices,” FBI Director Christopher Wray said at a press conference.
“Huawei also intentionally and systematically sought to steal valuable intellectual property from an American company, so it could circumvent hard-earned, time-consuming research and gain an unfair market advantage,” Wray continued in announcing the charges last month, attacking the company’s “dishonest business practices.”

“A black smoke seen over Stockholm is of unknown origin. However, social media users have suggested that it could be coming from a bus on fire.
A bus has exploded in the centre of Stockholm in the Klaratunneln tunnel, British Express reported citing a management operator at the Stockholm Fire Department. The bus was engulfed by fire and emited large amounts of black smoke, seen from across the city.
The police haven’t yet provided any information about possible injuries and casualties. They have reportedly redirected all traffic from the centre of Stockholm. It’s unclear if the fire has been extinguished, but the British media have reported that 40 minutes following the blast firefighters are still battling the flames.

Called the Unity Project, its aim is to act as “an advocate to bring some rights back to some of the people who have either lost their citizenship or lost their passports”. It will also provide legal assistance and secure passports and nationality rights for the children of expatriates born in Syria.
It says it is providing support for aid workers and civilians caught up in the fighting and stripped of their citizenships.
But it was last night branded part of cynical ploy to “dupe the public into believing that these individuals pose no threat to our society”.
The news comes as the family of British IS bride Shamima Begum is calling for her to be allowed back into the country.
The 350-strong group is led by Bilal Abdul Kareem, a US muslim convert who attempted to sue the US Government in 2017 in order to be removed from a “kill list”, having been targeted in five drone strikes.
The self-declared journalist’s work includes an interview with Abu Qatada, the infamous hate preacher deported to Jordan by Theresa May, and he is known to have smuggled Shukee Begum, British wife of IS suicide bomber Jamal al-Harith, out of Syria and into Turkey. His work has been dubbed by former US counter terror official Alberto M Fernandez part of “an effort to reinvent jihadi fighters as kinder and gentler”.
Unity Project was launched in January in Idlib, Syria. This is the last province under rebel control and is administered by Hayat Tahrir-al Sham (HTS), an Al-Qaeda affiliate.
It is proscribed as a terrorist group by most Western governments – including the UK. Kareem said: “Most of our governments are either trying to kill us, would like for someone else to kill us, or would be quite happy to see us dead.”
Another member of the Unity Project, Tauqir Tox Sharif, left the UK for Syria in 2012. Sharif, whose British citizenship was revoked last year, claims he is an aid worker who simply decided to stay in Syria.
However, in 2016 he said: “We have a goal to live in a real Islamic State – and that’s a scary idea for the West.”
Last night Dr Paul Stott, of the Henry Jackson Society, said: “The Unity Project is attempting to dupe the public into believing these individuals, many of whom have operated in jihadist controlled territory for years, pose no threat.””

According to the newspaper, this contract is now part of a bribery inquiry by Swiss police.
The allegations are likely to cause further suspicion as to whether Qatar effectively bought the right to host the World Cup, which will be held in the capital of Doha in three years’ time.
Last night Damian Collins, the chairman of the digital, culture, media and sport committee, told The Sunday Times that Fifa must freeze the Al Jazeera payments and launch an investigation into the contract that “appears to be in clear breach of the rules”.

The new report claims that from 2014 to 2019, the German government not only let in around 5,000 migrants who were subject to investigation for violating international law, but only investigated a handful of them itself, German tabloid Bild reports.
The paper states that the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) tipped the government off to around 5,000 migrants they believed had been involved in war crimes or other crimes against humanity.
Despite a large number of reports, only 129 migrants were actually investigated by the government, according to data from the German Interior Ministry that was requested by the libertarian Free Democratic Party (FDP).
FDP politician Linda Teuteberg commented on the shocking data, saying: “War criminals must not get protection in Germany. I have doubts as to whether the Federal Government has always pursued this with the necessary seriousness in recent years.”
The Interior Ministry has claimed that the cases were not ignored but rather they had been noted and were awaiting further investigation and possible future prosecution.
Since the height of the migrant crisis in 2015, many have been concerned over the possibility of criminals and terrorists using the crisis as a way to enter Europe.
Several reports have claimed that groups like the Islamic State have purposely used the crisis to smuggle in their fighters with several arrests of ISIS fighters being made in Germany and other countries.
War criminals have also been discovered among the migrants and several have faced trial in various European countries.
In Sweden, the government has seen a surge in reports of war criminals since 2014. The Swedish Migration Board has claimed that they had received 14 reports in 2014 but it had risen to 79 in 2017.”

“When we talk about clans, we refer in most cases to Mhallamiye Kurds, who came during the mid-seventies as civil war refugees from Lebanon to Germany,” he said, and noted that these clans were different from other organised crime groups.
“In organised crime, criminals come together voluntarily to jointly plan and carry out crimes. There is a possibility of leaving; in addition, the group can be infiltrated by police.
“But you are born into the clan, you have no choice. The kinship creates a clan solidarity, the members cover each other. Everyone keeps silent in court,” he explained.
When asked if he thought his statements were supportive of the anti-mass migration Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, Ghadban said, “I have made these statements for over 20 years; at that time there was no AfD.”
“This criticism is dangerous, it corresponds to the attitude of political correctness, which suppresses free opinions, prevents a factual confrontation with topics, and leaves it to the radicals,” he added.

The shanty town, formerly located in the southern Italian city of Reggio in Calabria, was bulldozed this week by police following a series of problems stemming from the makeshift camp in recent months, Italian newspaper Il Giornale reports.
Safety concerns at the camp have been a major issue, with fires breaking out over the last few months that have led to three deaths, the most recent being a 29-year-old Senegalese man who died last month.
In the aftermath of the death of the Senegalese man, populist Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Matteo Salvini said the government had offered up 133 places in migrant homes but only eight migrants accepted the offer.
“They preferred to stay in the shanty towns, just abuse and illegality,” he explained.
Of the total 1,592 migrants who lived in the camp, 200 have been sent to migrant homes, 460 have moved on their own accord and 923 are currently being housed in a tent city set up by the government.
The conditions in the new tent city are a stark improvement on the former shanty town, delivering working toilets and being supervised to ensure people’s safety.
Salvini himself said that he was happy about the clearing of the camp, saying the government “finally erased one of the most shameful slums in Italy where degradation, lawlessness, and exploitation proliferated.”
“After years of talk, now the facts have come I thank those who helped achieve this result, starting with the prefect,” he added.
The removal of squatter camps was one of the main pillars in the recently passed migration and security decree drafted by Salvini in 2018.

One of the Egyptians and the Tunisian national are suspected members of Ansar Al-Sharia Al-Tunisia, which is based in North Africa and listed as a terrorist group by the United Nations, national police chief Mohamad Fuzi Harun said in a statement.
Fuzi said the two were detained in 2016 for trying to illegally enter an African country. He said they used fake passports to enter Malaysia in October last year and were planning to sneak into a third country to launch attacks.
Five other Egyptians and two Malaysians were detained last month for providing food, shelter, air tickets and employment for the two suspected terrorists, Fuzi said.
He said authorities are concerned with the entry of foreign terrorist fighters as investigations showed they may use Malaysia as a “safe haven” or a logistics hub to launch attacks in other countries.

Americans traveling to Europe will soon have to add a new item to their packing lists.
Starting in 2021, the European Union will require US visitors to get a pre-approved, visa-like travel pass issued by the European Travel Information and Authorization System.
The permit will cost about $7.90 and will have to be requested at least four days before the journey—making romantic last-minute jaunts to Paris impossible.
But permission will be good for three years and for multiple trips in and out of the Schengen Zone, which covers 26 countries.

Wife says French-born IS jihadi has died in Syria
A woman who said she’s the wife of a French militant who joined the Islamic State group in Syria on Tuesday said her husband had died of head injuries sustained in a drone strike over the weekend that killed his brother.
The woman, who only identified herself as Dorothee, was one of hundreds of people who left the last pocket of land in Syria held by the IS on Tuesday and gathered in a massive reception area to be searched and screened by US-backed fighters.
She said her husband joined IS along with his older brother, Fabien Clain, one of Europe’s most-wanted members of the extremist group. Fabien Clain was killed in a strike by the U.S.-led military coalition in Syria in February.
She said her husband was also wounded in the same airstrike and died of his wounds two days ago.
In perfect French, said she had emigrated to Syria because she said she couldn’t practice her religion in her home country.
“Let France be reassured – I don’t want to go back to France,” she said, although she didn’t confirm whether she was a French national.
Tuesday’s exodus came three days after the US-backed forces resumed their push on IS militants holed up in Baghouz on the banks of the Euphrates River, close to the Iraqi border.
In past weeks, thousands of civilians left the speck of territory in organised evacuations following an earlier halt in fighting.
The Kurdish-led forces said their fighters were surprised by the large number of civilians, including IS family members, cooped up in the tiny area squeezed smaller and smaller by intermittent offensives.

Deaths of detained migrants under Trump virtually unchanged since Obama era

During former President Barack Obama’s first year in office, 10 foreign nationals died in ICE custody. Five passed away in 2012, and 12 died in 2016, according to ICE data obtained by the Washington Examiner. The numbers are not far removed from President Donald Trump’s first two years in office.
Ten detainees died in 2017 and 12 died in 2018, according to the American Immigration Lawyers Association. There have been no reported deaths in fiscal year 2019 as of March 5.

She may originally be a prisoner of war, and a Muslim may obtain a concubine from the ruler or commander if he took part in fighting in jihad, or if he buys her from her owner. She becomes permissible for him by virtue of his ownership after it is established that she is not pregnant by waiting for one menstrual cycle, or until she has given birth if she is pregnant.

“And those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts, from illegal sexual acts)
6. Except from their wives or (the slaves) that their right hands possess, ??? for then, they are free from blame”

This hadeeth was classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani in Irwa’ al-Ghaleel, 187.

At least 10 suspected illegal immigrants cut their way out of a lorry and escaped into the UK after travelling in it for around three days.
The gang spilt out of the vehicle and dashed away when it pulled up at B&B Trucks’ depot in Barnsley on Wednesday, said the Sunday Mirror.
The Belgian lorry had travelled from Germany, and then gone through Hull’s port, before reaching the South Yorkshire town.

KINSHASA, Congo (AP) — Heavily armed assailants again attacked an Ebola treatment center in the heart of eastern Congo’s deadly outbreak on Saturday, with one police officer killed and health workers injured, authorities said, while frightened patients waited in isolation rooms for the gunfire to end.
The early-morning attack in Butembo came less than a week after the treatment center reopened following an attack last month, which forced Doctors Without Borders to suspend operations in the city amid warnings that ending this outbreak is impossible if health workers aren’t protected.
Dozens of armed groups are active in mineral-rich eastern Congo, though some have allowed health workers access to administer Ebola vaccines and track contacts of infected people after delicate negotiations.
Security forces on Saturday repelled the attackers, one of whom was wounded, Butembo Mayor Sylvain Kanyamanda said. Congo’s health ministry in a statement said forces had surrounded the center after being tipped to a possible assault, “saving many lives.”

Three dozen countries, including Canada and all 28 EU members, called on Saudi Arabia on Thursday to release 10 activists and co-operate with a UN-led investigation into the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi at its Istanbul Consulate.
It was the first rebuke of the kingdom at the UN Human Rights Council since it was set up in 2006 and came amid growing international concern about Saudi violations of basic freedoms such as freedom of expression.
The joint statement, also backed by Australia but not the United States, was read out by Harald Aspelund, Iceland’s ambassador to the UN in Geneva. There was no immediate Saudi reaction.

Massacres Inside Churches and Attacks on Them
Philippines: On Sunday, January 27, Islamic militants bombed a Roman Catholic cathedral during Mass. At least 20 people were killed and 111 wounded. Two explosives were detonated about a minute apart in the vicinity of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Jolo at around 8:45 a.m. According to one report, “The initial explosion scattered the wooden pews inside the main hall and blasted window glass panels, and the second bomb hurled human remains and debris across a town square fronting the cathedral.”
Photos on social media showed human bodies and remains strewn on the street just outside the building. The officiating priest, Fr. Ricky Bacolcol, “was still in shock and could not speak about what happened,” to quote a colleague. After the first bomb detonated, army troops and police posted outside the cathedral rushed in, then a second bomb went off. Fifteen of the slain were civilians; five military men; 90 of the wounded were civilians. The cathedral, located in a Muslim-majority area, was heavily guarded: it had been hit before. In 2010, grenades had been hurled at it twice, damaging the building; and in 1997, Bishop Benjamin de Jesus had been gunned down just outside the cathedral. The Islamic State claimed the attack, and adding that the massacre had been carried out by “two knights of martyrdom” against a “crusader temple.”

Swedish-Norwegian “Islamophobia” expert turned Islamic State jihadist Michael Skråmos has been arrested by Kurdish forces in Syria, with sources claiming Norway wants to prosecute the extremist.
The 33-year-old, born in Sweden to Norwegian parents, was captured this week in the village of Baghouz in one of the very few remaining areas under any form of Islamic State control, Swedish newspaper Expressen reports.
Skråmo had been one of the hundreds of Islamic State terrorists still fighting Kurdish forces and attempting to defend the village. He was also not the only foreign fighter, with most of the last surviving holdouts being foreigners.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Tensions between Israel and Hamas are surging again following a string of attacks from Gaza and Israeli retaliatory airstrikes. The reason is simple: Hamas is struggling to manage Gaza economically, it refuses to divert funds from its military wing to civilian needs, and the Strip’s infrastructure is eroding at an alarming rate. Only brinksmanship with Israel can extricate Hamas from the disarray it has created.
Hamas’s failure to manage Gaza economically and determination to direct funds to its military wing rather than to civilian needs have raised the specter of a potential implosion in Gaza, which could mean that the Islamist regime will find itself facing an internal revolt. To avoid this fate, Hamas is doing what it has tried to do for an entire year: escalate the security situation and ratchet up pressure on Israel and other regional actors while stopping short of triggering a war.
This high-stakes brinksmanship – using violence to try and force Israel to ease security restrictions on Gaza, increase the import of goods, and get the international community to find donors who can rescue Gaza from economic doom – is a calculated approach directed by Hamas leader Yihye Sinwar. It appears as if the Qatari cash injections have not been sufficient to push Gaza away from the brink of instability. The economic chokehold the Palestinian Authority has tried to place on Gaza as part of its own internal war with Hamas has contributed to tensions over the past year as well.

Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport officials discovered a land mine with a fuse, but without an explosive when inspecting the luggage of the United States embassy employee. According to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs report, an object resembling a land mine was discovered on Saturday morning, March 9, during the screening of luggage belonging to the U.S. embassy employee when he entered the airport’s D terminal.
Airport security specialists confirmed that it was indeed a land mine with a fuse, but without an explosive, although traces of it were present inside of it.
According to the U.S. diplomatic mission employee who was returning home from a business trip, he acquired the land mine without an explosive “for his personal collection.”

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) signed legislation Friday to criminalize private gun sales in the state.
The Santa Fe New Mexican reported that there has been a great divide over the bill, with state-level Democrats pushing it while gun rights groups, the vast majority of New Mexico Sheriffs, and New Mexico county governments oppose it.
