Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We muse use it while we can.

  1. Morocco Warns Against Iranian Influence in Arab Countries (moroccoworldnews, Mar 5, 2019)
    https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2019/03/267223/morocco-iranian-influence-arab-countries/

“Morocco has issued an indirect warning against Iran’s foreign policy at the 36th Arab Interior Ministers Council in Tunis.

Minister of the Interior Abdelouafi Laftit, the head of the Moroccan delegation, said on Sunday that Iranian “manoeuvers are fuelling ethnic rivalries and internal conflicts to destabilize Arab countries, in a bid to promote its ideology.”

The Moroccan minister added that “these threats are not just limited to a single Arab country, but extend to the entire Arab nation … to sow discord.”

Laftit also said that Morocco has been a target of “these abject manoeuvers threatening national security and terrorizing Moroccan citizens by supporting the separatists and the opponents of Morocco’s territorial integrity.”

Laftit did not explicitly mention Iran in his speech.

Laftit’s comments add to a series moves aiming at easing tensions between Morocco and Saudi Arabia, a fierce opponent of Iran, following a recent diplomatic spat between the two monarchies.

Last month, Ahmed Bin Abdulaziz, the younger brother of King Salman of Saudi Arabia, arrived in Laayoune in Western Sahara for a private visit.

The same month, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita said that Morocco maintains strong diplomatic ties with all Gulf countries, especially Saudi Arabia and the UAE…”

“An armed clash is underway between the armed militants and security force close to Nangarhar airbase, the local officials said.

Provincial governor’s spokesman Ataullah Khogyani said the attack was launched earlier today and a standoff is underway between militants and security forces.

Khogyani further added that a clearance operation has been launched to eliminate the assailants.

According to Khogyani the attack has been launched against a private firm which is operating close to the airport.

There are no reports available regarding possible casualties.”

  3. Suicide bomb attack in Afghan city of Jalalabad, casualties feared: official (reuters, Mar 6, 2019)

“A suicide bomber in Afghanistan blew himself on Wednesday in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad, an official said.

The attacker detonated his explosives near the office of a construction company near the city’s airport, said Attaullah Khogyani, a spokesman for the governor of Nangarhar province, of which Jalalabad is capital.

Firing erupted between members of the security forces and gunmen after the blast, he said.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.”

Well, at least one. But no ambulance was needed in that case.

  4. French city of Grenoble hit by three nights of anti-police rioting (thelocal, Mar 5, 2019)
    https://www.thelocal.fr/20190305/french-city-of-grenoble-hit-by-three-nights-of-rioting

“Rioters in the French city of Grenoble set fire to 65 cars and targeted security forces with fireworks and Molotov cocktails, officials said Tuesday, after a third night of violence sparked by the death of two teenagers during a police chase.

Clashes began on Saturday evening when two men, aged 17 and 19, were spotted by police riding a stolen scooter without a license plate and without helmets.

They were being followed by a police vehicle when they crashed into a bus, according to the local prosecutor’s office which is treating their deaths as accidental.

“Young people from the neighbourhood saw what happened and have the feeling that there was a mistake by the police,” said Hassen Bouzeghoub, the director of a social club in Grenoble’s Mistral area where the men died.

A family member, who did not give his name, claimed “police are responsible for their death” in comments made to an AFP reporter outside the city court on Sunday.

But the Grenoble prosecutor’s office has rejected police liability, saying the men had put others in danger by “running red lights, driving on the
pavement, and driving at high speeds”.

Deaths caused during police operations regularly ignite violent protests in deprived areas of French cities where relations between local communities and
    security forces are often strained.

The fatal shooting of a man in the western city of Nantes sparked nights of rioting last July. The officer was later charged with manslaughter.

In 2005, three weeks of clashes erupted across the country following the deaths of two black teenagers who were electrocuted in a Paris suburb while hiding from the police.

Police were later cleared of wrong-doing in a trial.

Last week, Grenoble’s Mistral district also erupted in violence after a man was arrested for possession of cannabis.

Grenoble has a reputation for outbreaks of violence in its troubled suburbs, but the city, known as the “Capital of the Alps’ remains popular for students and visitors alike.”

  5. ‘Sajid Javid too MUSLIM to be leader’ says Tory peer in SHOCKING Islamophobia claim (express, Mar 6, 2019)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1096204/Conservative-party-news-sajid-Javid-islamophobia-baroness-Warsi-tory-peer-bbc-newsnight

“A CONSERVATIVE peer claimed Home Secretary Sajid Javid is considered ‘too Muslim’ to be leader by some within the Conservative Party last night.

Tory peer and former Conservative Party Chair, Baroness Sayeda Warsi made the incredible claim following a string of recent Islamophobic comments from some members of the party. The Conservative Party suspended 14 members over the alleged abusive remarks that were uncovered on social media. Following that news, Baroness Warsi insisted on BBC Newsnight that although Sajid Javid may try to “pander” to some within the party, he will never become the party leader.

She said: “There’s no doubt that he is a leadership candidate but he should read the comments about him.

“However much he panders to the right of our party, sadly the right of our party still believes he is far too Muslim to be leader.”

Baroness Warsi has also called for an internal inquiry into the problem and has called on senior Conservative figures to take the problem seriously.

The Tory peer also confirmed that she had raised the issue three years ago but nothing was done to remedy the problem.

She added: “I first raised these matters three years ago. I raised it privately, with three successive chairmen, I raised it with the Prime Minister.

“But the way in which this matter has not been taken seriously until it comes out on social media has meant that the party ha failed to deal with it.”

The former Tory Party Chairman also admitted that the problem of Islamophobia within the party “is an institutional issue”.

Yesterday, Tory council candidate Peter Lamb left the part after coming under fire for his social media comments about Islam.

In combination with Mr Lamb’s comments, a raft of offensive comments were found within a Facebook group.

A party spokesman said: “This Facebook group is in no way affiliated with the Conservative Party and many of the people identified on it are not party members.

“However we have identified some people who are party members and they have been immediately suspended, pending further investigation.

“When we find evidence of members making offensive or inappropriate comments, we consistently take decisive action. Discrimination or abuse of any kind is wrong and will not be tolerated.””

    • Well what a coincidence, labour attacked by jews, tories attacked by mozlems, which threaten to divide their respective parties, this is coming from a third parti but who?

  6. Sajid Javid pleads for more police as he demands extra cash to help forces put bobbies back on the beat to combat surge in knife violence (dailymail, Mar 6, 2019)
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6775271/Sajid-Javid-pleads-police-combat-surge-knife-violence.html

“Sajid Javid yesterday demanded extra money for police forces and wider use of stop and search to combat the surge in knife violence.

In a major intervention at Cabinet, the Home Secretary launched an impassioned plea for millions of pounds so forces can put more officers back ‘on the beat’.

And he urged the Prime Minister to sign off proposed new powers to make it easier for police to stop and search those suspected of carrying blades.

Sources said Mr Javid and Mrs May had a ‘lively’ exchange as she defended changes she made as home secretary which resulted in sharp falls in the use of stop and search.

Attempting to get on the front foot over the issue after a spate of horrific crimes, Mrs May ordered an urgent set of ministerial meetings to address action against knife crime.

But she was contradicted by Britain’s most senior police officer over her rejection of the link between police numbers and the rise in violent crime.

On Monday, Mrs May insisted there was ‘was no direct correlation between certain crimes and police numbers’.

But yesterday Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick rejected that claim.

In an interview with LBC, Miss Dick said: ‘In the last few years, police officer numbers have gone down a lot, there’s been a lot of other cuts in public services, there has been more demand for policing.

‘I agree that there is some link between violent crime on the streets obviously and police numbers, of course there is and everybody would see that.’

Her comments will put huge pressure on No10 and Chancellor Philip Hammond to prioritise police funding in the coming months…”

    • Get the thought police off their big fat arses and onto the streets, put away your nail varnish and your stilettoes and do what we pay you to do,if the police want to be perverts ,let them do it on their time, not ours.

    • Sajid Javid pleads for more police as he demands extra cash to help forces put bobbies back on the beat to combat surge in knife violence

Addressing “knife crime” (we all know what the prime mover is, and it sure as hell isn’t knives) with more police hiring is like holding a separate Duke of Beaufort’s Hunt every time you want to catch a rabid fox. It might make for gaudy spectacle and help the toffs feel important but it does $h!t all to counter terrorism.

  7. Dutch Prof Warns No Western Society Has Managed to Fully Integrate Muslims (sputniknews, Mar 6, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201903061072990112-islam-migration-integration/

“Based on his 20-year-long studies on integration and assimilation, Ruud Koopmans, a professor of sociology at Humboldt University in Berlin, has arrived at the conclusion that Muslims are more difficult to integrate than other immigrant groups.

Professor Ruud Koopmans suggested than no Western country has managed to successfully integrate Muslims. In an interview with the Danish newspaper Berlingske, he stressed that despite individual pattern breakers, the overall picture and the general trend are discouraging.

“For anyone who takes facts and data seriously, it is undeniable that Muslims are much worse at integration than other groups of immigrants, no doubt about that. There is also no doubt that in most other groups of immigrants, we see great progress from one generation to the next. Although it’s not completely absent in Muslims, the change is much slower,” Koopmans told Berlingske.

According to Koopmans’ data, around 65 percent of the Turkish and Moroccan Muslims in six European countries consider religious rules to be more important than the secular law of the country in which they live. Muslims consider themselves separate from other non-Muslim groups, and refrain from broader interaction with those outside their religion. For instance, almost 60 percent of the Muslims surveyed rejected the idea of maintaining friendships with homosexuals, and 45 percent said the same thing about Jews.

According to Koopmans, the fundamentalist interpretation of the Quran, which is prevalent among Muslims, prevents them from being integrated into Western countries. According to Koopmans’ studies, up to 50 percent of Muslims in Europe hold fundamentalist beliefs. By contrast, the proportion of fundamentalists among Christians is much lower, at less than 4 percent.

In his new book, “The Decrepit House of Islam”, Koopmans paints a rather gloomy picture of the Muslim world; one marked by growing fundamentalism and sectarian conflicts. He concluded that when it comes to democracy, human rights, and political and economic development, the 47 Muslim-majority countries are worse off.

“I conclude that the Islamic world in all these areas is lagging behind rest of the world. Increasingly so in the past 50 years,” Koopmans told Berlingske, attributing this to conservative views on the role of women, low investment into children’s education and fundamentalist propaganda.

“The message in my book is not that there is something inherently wrong with Islam itself, but that there is a problem with the way many Muslims and, globally, many Muslim countries interpret Islam. Namely, in a way that basically claims that the Quran and the Sunna must be taken literally, and that the way the Prophet lived in the 7th century must be the yardstick for how Muslims should live in the 21st century,” Koopmans concluded. “Such a brand of Islam is, firstly, a threat to world peace. Secondly, it prevents integration.”

In Germany, where Ruud Koopmans has been living for almost 30 years, he is known as a critical voice in the debate on immigration and integration. In the last several years, he has profiled himself as an eminent critic of the social consequences of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s decision to accept refugees in 2015. Despite the fact that his research is anchored in empirical data and statistics, he is often seen as a controversial figure.

“Some people strongly oppose my conclusions. Sometimes with arguments, but mostly with personal attacks. They reject my results and refuse to discuss them. Instead, they just say: It plays into the right-wing populists’ hands, and we should not discuss it. As if it didn’t play into their hands, if we somehow avoided to discuss these matters,” Koopmans concluded.

Dutch-born Ruud Koopmans heads the research unit Migration, Integration and Transnationalisation at the Berlin Social Science Centre. He is also a professor of sociology at Humboldt University in Berlin and a member of the academic council that advises Germany’s immigration authorities. He is the author of several books on immigration and integration.”

    • Thanks for the link. Mr Koopmans is very brave and a true scientist, in that he does not let anybody dictate what “sensitive” subjects are off-limits. Let’s keep political convictions out of science (gasp, heresy!). It’s interesting that the protests only started, esp among his students, when he entered the public debate, he had been publishing about this before. I wonder how long before Humboldt U. fires him and/or German Antifa tars and feathers him and chases him out of Germany.
Btw I searched for the book, “The Decrepit House of Islam”, no hits. It seems there’s only a Dutch version:
      https://www.amazon.co.uk/Het-vervallen-huis-islam-Dutch-ebook/dp/B07NZLX6HZ/ref=sr_1_3

    • There is also no doubt that in most other groups of immigrants, we see great progress from one generation to the next. Although it’s not completely absent in Muslims, the change is much slower,” Koopmans told Berlingske.

All that this “slower” integration really means is surplus dead bodies. As in: More immediate Western deaths and, eventually, a much more thorough Muslim annihilation. Islam can permanently shut the £ü¢k up and sit down now or it can disappear later, forever. A Western civilization intent on surviving will furnish no other options.

According to Koopmans’ studies, up to 50 percent of Muslims in Europe hold fundamentalist beliefs. By contrast, the proportion of fundamentalists among Christians is much lower, at less than 4 percent.

When statistical deviation and error are properly accounted for the precise figure is 100 Percent Expulsion.

  8. No Place in 21st Century for Closing Borders – German Bundestag President (breitbart, Mar 6, 2019)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/03/06/21st-century-borders-german-president/

“Shutting the door on mass migration is not an option in the 21st century, German parliament president Wolfgang Schäuble has said, urging Brussels to speed up plans for an EU army in order to kill nationalism.

In an interview with local media on Monday, Germany’s parliament chief said he wanted progress towards a joint European armed forces to advance “much faster”, and admitted to feeling “impatient” on the issue.

“We must explain, convincingly, that our defences are better together, then there will be no more room for the nationalists or demagogues,” he said, adding he believes the project has the support of ‘the majority of citizens in almost all EU countries’, reports the Westfälische Rundschau.

Asked why he thought that “demagogues” might be gaining popularity in Europe, Schäuble admitted mass migration was “such an issue”, but then stressed that “nothing is made better by closing the borders and acting only for ourselves”.

“If you talk sensibly with people then they too understand, in the 21st century, that closing borders is no answer,” said the Bundestag president, who — as finance minister in 2016 — claimed Germany’s population would “degenerate” through inbreeding, without massive, “enriching” migration waves of Muslims from third world countries.

“Security within national borders is not something that exists — especially when the world remains an uncomfortable place and because we are doing so well. Europe can find good answers,” he told the regional newspaper.

The 76-year-old, whose political career in Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union Party (CDU) has spanned more than four decades, also touched on the topics of Brexit and France in the interview.

He expressed the belief that Britain will “either not leave the EU at all” or else it would rejoin the bloc at a later date, emphasising the UK “has always” been more detached from Brussels politics while “the core of European unification has always been Germany and France”.

Asked about the Yellow Vest protests, which have seen almost 10,000 people arrested so far during 16 straight weekends of action against France’s globalist, Europhile government — Schäuble downplayed the level of anger in the country at its president Emmanuel Macron, commenting: “Those who bring reforms are always going to provoke some debate.”

“Political life in France can cope with the resistance,” he said, adding that he has “great respect for the determination with which President Macron is sticking to his course”.

Many of Schäuble’s sentiments were echoed by his French ally on Monday, when Macron set out his ambitions for a federal EU superstate in an open letter addressed directly to “the citizens of Europe”….”

“Iraq and the Kurdish regional government have charged hundreds of children with terrorism for alleged affiliation with the Islamic State group, often using torture to coerce confessions, Human Rights Watch said Wednesday.

In a report, the New York-based group estimated that Iraqi and Kurdish authorities were holding approximately 1,500 children for alleged IS affiliation in detention at the end of 2018. It said the prosecutions are often based on dubious accusations and forced confessions obtained through torture.

“Indian and Pakistani soldiers shelled military outposts and villages along their highly militarized frontier in disputed Kashmir on Wednesday, in new violence despite stepped-up diplomatic efforts by the rival countries to ease tensions.

  11. Saudi app used to track women ‘not against’ Google rules (BBC, Mar 6, 2019)
    https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-47454598

“Google has remained silent over reports it told a US congresswoman that a controversial app was not in breach of its terms and conditions.

Saudi app Absher can be used by men to track women and prevent them from travelling.

The office of Jackie Speier confirmed to the BBC that a verbal conversation took place with Google after she co-wrote a letter of complaint about the app.

    Google declined to comment.

Absher is currently available on both Apple and Google’s app stores.

The app, which also offers access to government services, has been criticised by human rights groups.

In addition to enabling users to carry out tasks like renewing their driving licence, it also asks men to list dependent women. It can then be used to either deny or allow individual travel.

Women in Saudi Arabia need the permission of a male guardian, usually their husband or father, to leave the country.

It has been downloaded more than a million times and has been around for several years.

In February, Apple CEO Tim Cook told NPR the firm would investigate.

Ms Speier said she found the responses of both Apple and Google “unsatisfactory”.

“To say I’m disappointed in their failure to show a sustained commitment to human rights is an understatement,” she said.

In Saudi Arabia, opinion about Absher is divided.

“Men control how women travel in Saudi Arabia,” wrote one commentator on social news site Reddit.

“That’s mandated by law. Not just they can, but they have to. They can be permissive, but they still have to give permission. This app makes it easier for them to do so. It makes it easier for women to travel, not harder.””

  12. France Chiolo stabbing: Guards protest after jail ‘terror attack’ (BBC, Mar 6, 2019)
    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-47467821

“French prison guards blocked access to 18 prisons on Wednesday after an inmate in the north of the country wounded two guards in what the justice minister said was a terrorist attack.

Michaël Chiolo was apparently given a knife when his female partner visited a high-security jail in Normandy.

They barricaded themselves into a family-visiting area before police eventually moved in.

Unions called for action at all prisons over safety and staffing.

France has for years had to grapple with the spread of jihadism in its jail system.

The head of Condé-sur-Sarthe jail near Alençon, where the attack took place, was seen unsuccessfully appealing to protesting guards to be allowed in. Tyres were set on fire and when police arrived they were jeered as the guards stopped them getting through.

A hundred guards refused to let anyone into another high-security jail at Fleury-Mérogis, news channel BFMTV reported.

One guard, Cédric, told the Ouest France website that he had treated the two guards stabbed in the attack. “It was carnage, the ferocity of it. I’m thinking of my colleagues and I worry tomorrow that might be us.”

    What happened in the jail?
At 09:45 on Tuesday, Michaël Chiolo, a 27-year-old inmate thought to have been radicalised in jail several years ago, was visited by his 34-year-old female partner in a special “family life” visiting unit. It was thought she had smuggled in a ceramic knife, Justice Minister Nicole Belloubet said.

Unconfirmed reports say the woman called for help from two guards and then the pair launched their attack, described by Ms Belloubet as a “terrorist” incident.

Both guards were seriously wounded, one with injuries to the thorax, the other to his face, colleagues said.

Chiolo shouted “Allahu Akhbar” (God is Greatest) and said he wanted to avenge the death of Strasbourg gunman Cherif Chekatt, Paris prosecutor Rémy Heitz said. Chekatt killed five people near the city’s Christmas market last December.

After failed attempts at negotiation, elite police stormed the unit at 18:40.

Both were shot and wounded by police, and the woman died of her wounds when she “launched herself” on one of the officers.

    Who is Chiolo?
Chiolo has been serving a 30-year sentence since 2015 and was reportedly radicalised as a militant Islamist while serving a previous jail term in 2012.

He came across the Strasbourg gunman while in jail in eastern France in 2015 and spent 175 days in the same penitentiary, Franceinfo reported.

Of Italian origin, he ran away from his family and became involved in petty crime.

Aged 20, he and an accomplice targeted an 89-year-old Holocaust survivor who escaped from Dachau concentration camp in Nazi Germany. They tied him up and choked him to death.

While in jail, he was sentenced to an extra year in prison for condoning terrorism. He had asked fellow inmates to “re-enact” the 2015 terror attack on the Bataclan music venue in Paris, which left 90 people dead.”

    • Nice shooting.
Unfortunately the background of the woman isn’t made clear, not even a name. Obviously she was radicalized as well, but was she muslim by birth? Algerian-French? How did she hook up with this guy, who has been in prison for most of his adult life?
Why hide details when she’s already dead? Privacy concerns are no longer relevant when you’re 6 feet under.

The French prison system seems nothing more an academy for jihadist trash, France better get its act together.

    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201903061072999882-san-ferdinando-migrant-camp/

“The clearance of the San Ferdinando migrant camp, located in the southwestern Italian region of Calabria, has started, with over 600 police officers, firefighters and medical personnel involved, ANSA news agency reported on Wednesday, citing the Italian Interior Ministry.

San Ferdinando mayor ordered immediate clearance on February 28, soon after the third person since the beginning of the year was killed in a fire at the tent camp. The Interior Ministry said in a related notice that every legal migrant from the camp would be relocated to an official reception facility.

A total of 18 coaches are being used to transfer around 900 residents of the camp to reception centres, the ANSA news agency specified.

San Ferdinando camp houses migrant farm workers employed in the neighbouring commune of Gioia Tauro. The number of migrants coming to San Ferdinando rises significantly during the citrus harvest, which usually takes place between November and February.

The camp is known for its poor facilities, with no electricity and running water available.”

  16. UN rights chief Bachelet warns of threat from ‘gross inequality’ (BBC, Mar 6, 2019)
    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-47468749

“The UN human rights chief has warned of the threat posed by growing global inequality over income, wealth and access to resources and justice.

“In recent months we have seen people across the world take to the streets to protest,” said Michelle Bachelet.

Addressing the UN Human Rights Council, Ms Bachelet referred specifically to a recent wave of protests in Sudan, as well as protests in Haiti and France.

She also warned of the “existential threat” of hate speech and xenophobia.

Ms Bachelet expressed concern that the demands of citizens protesting against inequality were being met by “violent and excessive use of force, arbitrary detentions, torture and even alleged summary or extrajudicial killings”.

“In Sudan, for the past several months, people protesting harsh economic conditions and bad governance have been violently dispersed by security forces, sometimes using live ammunition,” she said.

Ms Bachelet singled out Venezuela as an example of how “violations of civil and political rights” can accentuate inequality and worsening economic conditions.

She also criticised Israel over its blockade of Gaza, and said she regretted Israel’s “immediate dismissal” of a report by a UN Human Rights Council commission of inquiry, “without addressing any of the very serious issues raised”.

UN experts said last week that Israeli security forces might have committed war crimes and crimes against humanity while responding to weekly mass Palestinian protests along the Gaza-Israel border last year.

The experts investigated the deaths of 189 Palestinians and said they found reasonable grounds to believe that Israeli snipers had shot at children, medics and journalists, even though they had been clearly recognisable as such.

“All parties concerned should exercise restraint as the date of March 30 approaches,” Ms Bachelet said, referring to the first anniversary of the start of the Palestinian protest campaign.

The Israeli government said the report was “hostile, mendacious and biased against Israel”. It has said its security forces have only opened fire in self-defence or on people trying to infiltrate its territory under the cover of the protests.”

They do it because they can get away with it.

Naflim sexual predators willfully disregard existing judicio-moral superstructures as being inapplicable to them. Equally disrespectful Muslima broodmares midwife Political Islam’s hive-mind through compliant behavioral modification and attire. Then there’s jihad’s Watermelon Comrades treating everybody like interchangeable cogs in their political machine.

The net result is identical. It establishes a two-tier society (i.e., dhimmi- or commie-serf-caste) where the fruits of labor and production are harvested by Our Betters—to be redistributed dispensed with great sagacity and magnanimity back to those who originally toiled to create that wealth.

  17. Record arrests of Illegal-immigrant families on border bolster Trump’s emergency claim

Illegal immigration continues to break records on the southwestern border — and they’re not good ones.

The number of families snared trying to sneak into the U.S. soared by 50 percent in one month alone, setting an all-time record with more than 36,000 family members apprehended, Homeland Security officials announced Tuesday.

The government has also encountered some 70 groups of at least 100 migrants during the first five months of the fiscal year, shattering records and placing new challenges on Border Patrol agents.

    https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2019/mar/5/illegal-immigration-worst-rate-2007/

  18. New, awful data shows that the border invasion is worse than ever

If Trump had not signed the disastrous budget bill several weeks ago and we were still operating on a short-term CR with immigration remaining the top issue, today’s news could have strengthened Trump’s leverage. According to CBP’s preliminary figures obtained by the Washington Post, 76,325 illegal aliens were apprehended at the border in February, more than any other month in over a decade since the decline of migration from Mexico. A record 40,325 family units arrived, blowing out the previous records by almost 10,000. Sadly, Trump already signed away his leverage to force a national dialogue over this issue.

As a nation, we are left debating presidential power from an obscure statute that enables the president to obtain a mere $2.5 billion for partial fencing to deal with a policy-driven invasion. The joke is that even if Trump had full unity behind this approach, it would do little to stop this invasion, which is strategically directed toward soft parts of our border. Unless we force a national discussion over the courts and the illegal immigration magnets that are bringing immigrants in, this entire debate is a non-sequitur. Unfortunately, without a budget deadline for another seven months, no matter how bad things get at our border, there is no mechanism through which to pressure Democrats into submission.

A record 76,325 apprehensions for one month is truly staggering, not only because it’s the single worst month at the border since fiscal year 2008, but because almost all of these people get to stay on our dime. Projected for the whole year, this pace would result in 916,000 apprehensions. But the pace is growing every month, because the catch-and-release expands. As the Washington Post observes, “The number of migrants taken into custody last year jumped 39 percent from February to March, and a similar increase this month would push levels to 100,000 detentions or more.” That would be an annual pace of 1.2 million.

  19. Illegal Immigration Under Trump Projected to Surpass Obama Era Levels

President Trump is projected to oversee the largest flow of illegal immigration at the United States-Mexico border since former President Bush’s administration, surpassing every year of crossings under former President Obama.

As Breitbart News reported, more than 76,000 border crossers attempted to enter the U.S. in the month of February — the most apprehensions of illegal border crossers and migrants in this month in 12 years.

While Trump’s administration expanded the Catch and Release program last month and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen focuses her attention on cybersecurity and terrorism issues, the U.S. is projected to see a level of illegal immigration this year that will surpass every year of illegal immigration under Obama

  20. 55 Migrants Transported to U.S. Hospitals Each Day, Say Feds

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials report that agents and officers are referring an average of 55 migrants per day to hospitals. Over the past four years, this resulted in a taxpayer cost of $98 million.

U.S. Border Patrol Chief of Operations Brian Hastings told reporters in Washington, D.C. Tuesday that Border Patrol agents are facing both national security and a humanitarian crises. The challenges have been brought on by the massive numbers of family units and unaccompanied minors.

“We are committed to addressing these humanitarian needs but the current situation is sustainable,” Hastings said regarding Border Patrol agents being pulled off the national security mission to assist migrants with medical needs. “The increased flow (of migrants) combined with the stress of the journey, the crowded conveyances, and flu season has resulted in significant increases in the medical referrals for Border Patrol.”

  21. Amazon Bans Tommy Robinson’s Book, ‘Mohammed’s Koran’

On January 7 of this year, I published an article at PJ Media about Amazon removing doormats featuring Qur’an verses from sale because the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) found them offensive. In that article, I asked:

How long will it be before Hamas-linked CAIR starts demanding that books that criticize jihad terror and Sharia oppression of women, gays, and others also be dropped by Amazon?

The answer turned out to be 51 days.

  22. The influence of centrist Democrats is fading fast. What does that mean for liberal technocrats?

To state the obvious, the policy agenda of the Democratic Party has moved to the left. Ideas that used to be on the fringe – Medicare-for-all, guaranteed jobs and the Green New Deal, all financed by very progressive taxation – are now much more widely accepted by Democrats.

Two possible theories explain this evolution: the old one from the center-left and the new one from the “leftier” left. The center left was/is essentially friendly, and largely deferential, to markets. Left to their own devices, financial markets will efficiently allocate excess savings to their most productive uses – so over-regulation is dangerous. Same with globalization. Taxes should be progressive, but not too much so or you’ll dampen private investment. Public borrowing crowds out private borrowing, so deficit reduction is an oft-stated goal.

  24. Somali Gangs Battle in Minneapolis; Somalis Demand That Cops Do Something

Let’s start by stipulating that not every newcomer to America is a violent criminal bringing old ethnic and religious conflicts to the New World; nor is he a predatory opportunist, happy to take advantage of the stable, trusting, and yes, welcoming culture he finds. Every country has its social customs and unwritten rules, and often newcomers misinterpret them as weakness.

When the Catholic Irish arrived in large number from the middle of the 19th century on, they brought with them a deep suspicion of the police, a distrust of the Protestant ascendancy, and a pent-up willingness to work the system to their advantage — cultural survival skills they had learned during nearly a millennium of English occupation of their home country. It took them more than a full century to fully integrate into American society. Swaths of American cities, especially New York, had Irish no-go zones, into which even the Irish cops feared to tread, and even today we remember the names of the psychopath Mad Dog Coll and the suave but violent Owney Madden, chief of the Gopher Gang, who gave the world Mae West, Primo Carnera, the Cotton Club and Bill Clinton.

  25. Italy: Authorities tear down migrant tent village in San Ferdinando

The demolition of a migrant tent village in the town of San Ferdinando, Reggio Calabria region, commenced on Wednesday. The dismantling comes at the request of San Ferdinando Mayor Andrea Tripoli, citing public health and safety as the major influencing factors behind his decision.

Since the early morning on Wednesday, excavators and bulldozers were seen tearing down the tents and shanties, supervised by a large number of police officers in riot gear. The migrants could be seen leaving the spot with their personal belongings clutched in their hands.

The migrants were informed of the mayor’s evacuation ordinance in French, English, and Arabic. The Ministry of Interior also provided a notice explaining the reasons for the demolition and claiming that every documented migrant will be guaranteed a spot in one of the country’s official reception centres, reports say.

Italian authorities estimated that around 1,000 migrants were living in what is described as a conglomeration of tents, plastic and sheet metal shacks. Many of them were working in the nearby fields of the Gioia Tauro plain during citrus harvest season from November to February, reports say. At least three migrants lost their lives at the camp following fires which they lit to keep themselves warm.

  26. Their country, their rules?’: 600yo carnival in Belgium condemned as anti-Semitic

In Belgium, the Jewish community has been left dismayed by a traditional carnival, with roots stretching back all the way to medieval times. This year, it featured allegedly anti-Semitic and racist floats.

The SPV, which was promoted by France, Germany and the UK, is aimed at bypassing US sanctions and facilitating trade with Iran.

“It can be used as a play gym, it can be used as a prayer mat, and it also can be used for many other entertainment purposes, for example ‘tummy time’,” he added.

Nomani also said that the idea is not to build “just a business” but rather a community-driven product.

  29. Elderly, dying Trump critics’ concern: They won’t live to see Mueller report
    By J.E. Dyer March 5, 2019

If you need convincing that Trump Derangement Syndrome is real, this may be the proof you’re looking for.

NPR reports that there appears to be a real trend — presumably a small one, but still noteworthy — of Trump opponents prioritizing Trump and the Mueller investigation in the thoughts that haunt their final days on earth.

NPR tells the story of a 93-year-old veteran of World War II whose “last coherent” words were about the Mueller probe.

[World War II veteran] Mitchell Tendler [93] began to fade. He had outlived two implantable defibrillators and was on his third. The devices had kept him alive but now posed a problem for the medical imaging he needed in the hospital. Doctors gave him some painkillers, and then he had a final thought.

“It just was quiet for a little while,” [son] Walter Tendler recounted, “and then he just sits up in bed halfway and looks at me and he goes, ‘S***, I’m not going to see the Mueller report, am I?’ And that was really the last coherent thing that he said.”

    https://libertyunyielding.com/2019/03/05/elderly-dying-trump-critics-concern-they-wont-live-to-see-mueller-report/

Richard: The left hated Nixon but not to the extent that they hate Trump, the last time the Dems hated a US President this much was during the Civil War. Their hatred of Lincoln was as bad, and they carried on about him to the same extent that they do about Trump.

  30. Richard: This one is important, it tells us what the probably future of the Dems is, and if that future is correct it will make the coming Civil War much more violent.

House Democrats dither, whiff on anti-Semitism. They’re about to self-destruct
    By J.E. Dyer March 6, 2019

The Democrats in the House of Representatives have only a few hours left to reorder their thinking and step back from a very destructive move they are reportedly about to take.

As this week began, the Democrats planned to act on concerns about anti-Semitic statements from Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) by introducing a resolution to condemn anti-Semitism. That response falls short of the step urged by many: for Speaker Nancy Pelosi to remove Omar from her seat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee. But if Pelosi was unwilling to do that, a resolution condemning anti-Semitism might at least serve as a warning.

It wasn’t clear how quickly the resolution would be introduced. But observers assumed, for the most part, that it would be a simple and rapid action. Monday came and went without it, however, and on Tuesday afternoon, news outlets began reporting that it was being delayed by objections from the Congressional Progressive Caucus and Congressional Black Caucus.

    https://libertyunyielding.com/2019/03/06/house-democrats-dither-whiff-on-anti-semitism-theyre-about-to-self-destruct/

Richard: J.E. has done a very good job with thie article, she is pointing out how the Dems are imploding/self destructing wit their pandering to groups who considered to be voting blocks. They are showing that once they consider a voting block to be less important then a new growing voting block they will throw the first group under the bus.

This is also going to give the left a starting point to push Hate Speech Laws in the US, as well as make criticism of the Islamic Invaders difficult and possibly Politically Incorrect.

I am sure I am missing some of what this means so others (Yucki, NR, Johnnyu and others) need to read the article and comment.

  37. U.K. Implementing ID Checks for Porn, Could Extend to Social Media Sites

A lawyer claimed the United Kingdom could soon force users to provide valid ID if they want to access social media sites, as the U.K. implements mandatory ID checks on porn users starting in April.

From April 1, Internet users in the U.K. will be required to submit a valid form of ID, such as a driving license or passport, in order to access pornographic websites.

“When someone first clicks on a site, they’ll be asked to register with AgeID and verify their age using a Mobile SMS, credit card, passport, or driving licence,” reported the Sun. “Users will then be able to use their AgeID username or password to access all porn sites that use AgeID – though some may use different age verification systems.”

“Is it okay to still have children?” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez wondered while making a salad.

“It’s basically like, there is a scientific consensus that the lives of children are going to be very difficult and it does lead, I think young people, to have a legitimate question.”

It’s easy to dismiss her, but the loudest proponent of a Green New Deal doesn’t come up with original ideas, she just snatches extreme lefty ideas already being mainstreamed, and dumbs them down into a ridiculous and easily digestible form. Cortez hadn’t come up with the idea of cracking down on air travel or cows. And she hadn’t invented environmentalist proposals for human extinction on her own.

“Is It Cruel to Have Kids in the Era of Climate Change?” the New Republic had asked.

“If the looming 12-year deadline is missed,” the formerly liberal, and now radically leftist publication, suggested, “what purpose could life have in the face of an unavoidable, collective downfall?”

  40. They are starting this on the porn sites because they think there will be little opposition, once it has been in use for a while they will quietly expand it to all social media sites.

What few people appreciate is that Social Media sites actually get more hits per day than pron.

That they are jump-starting this new blacklist on a blue note is (as Richard noted) only protective moral coloration—better known as virtue signalling—so that everyone’s hands look clean right up to when the real bloodletting begins.
