Contributor’s Links post for March 4, 2019

Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We muse use it while we can.

    • All I know about Bouteflika from Algerians I know, those that are here. It’s very divided.

The secular Algerians in Canada support Bouteflika.

However, Bouteflika entertains sessions of Qur’an memorizations from young children. Fucked up Islam. I figure maybe he has to play the Islam game.

That said, Algeria – like others – are on a radicalization path. And that’s why Macron fears Algeria.

We must follow ALGERIA because after it will be MORROCO.

    • What happened to my last inner-comment?

That said, I’m a deep insider into their world for a long time, at least 30 years. All I can say is when they arrive, it is to escape Islamism. To escape, it must be immediate – meaning not living among them. My former sister-in-law managed it successfully through trials and tribulations.

Also, that said, those who do not move into Canadian secular areas become islamized. It’s truly amazing to witness.

I’ve seen things you wouldn’t believe. But to keep it simple: one family with two daughters. All is fine and friends (male/female) come by the house. They left Algeria because they were secular (aka no hijab). They live in a secular area with no mosques.

But within two years, they move and everything changes. They move to an area where there are more Muslims and a mosque.

Suddenly, after a couple of months, segregation of the females within the household when other males are invited.

Assemblies of men in the living room with their Qur’ans while the females are in the kitchen. Even I, as a female, had to go to the kitchen. Women have no place in their lives except for food and bed.

I saw one daughter become radicalized and the Mom – who had fled Algeria and the hijab – embrace the hijab here in Canada.

A few months before my planned departure from my former Algerian guy, I spoke on the phone with the one-year hijabed niece: She hates us.

P.S.: I could tell more stories.

      • How could you even think to be a girlfriend to an Algerian man?
Of course they hate whites and Christians…this is why they like our countries…to come here and hate us.
        What garbage Canada has become!

          • For the record, Chesler did it because she was a certified feminist (read Marxist) who believed that the worst thing a person could be was a Western White male. She married the Afghan out of spite from my reading of her most excellent story, which I have posted her numerous times.

To her credit, after her own experience and a subsequent study of the facts she allowed herself to admit she was wrong and proceeded down the path we know her for now. She was among the first of the Red Pilled leftists.

            • She was among the first of the Red Pilled leftists.

I suppose we should all be grateful to her first husband for ramming the crimson capsule down her esophagus-like object.

It bodes rather ill for Western women if their collective enlightenment hinges upon them first playing house with some otherwise recognizable cockroaches. One would think their mums had taught them better.

For whatever implausible reason, there may not be too many red-blooded Western men ready to feel all verklempt and protective about man-haters experiencing self-inflicted, weapons-grade stupidity.

              • Once a teenage girl hits government funded university, it doesn’t matter a rats ass what her mom says.

                • Once a teenage girl hits government funded university, it doesn’t matter a rats ass what her mom says.

Well, not at least until the first time they finally hear themselves sounding like their mom.

But by then, it’s usually too late.

      • I saw one daughter become radicalized and the Mom – who had fled Algeria and the hijab – embrace the hijab here in Canada.

ZERO fecking surprise. Exactly like all Muslim rapists in Europe, these invaders do it because they can get away with it. Full stop.

This is no joke, at all. In their own homelands, doing these things usually has very serious consequences. Something that Muslimas claim is so insignificant—such as broadcasting political Islam by wearing a hijab—turns into a hellish nightmare in places where the body bag comes factory equipped with on demand, four-on-the-floor sex … abuse, heavy duty purdah, no street-legal status, beater interior, along with mutaween to whip the living crap out of you for not passing their curbside muster.

For just this once, let’s keep it short and suffice to say that rape recidivism in Old Sandy can be conspicuously low—if only due to detachment of the necessary apparatus (or, every so often, the entire skull itself). Speaking of sexual crimes, Muslima rape victims all too frequently perish alongside their attackers—or in short order thereafter—to satisfy “family honorEVIL THROWBACK MENTALITIES.

Other than those minor trivialities, everything else about Islam is so unimaginably wonderful that most of these fair-weather, politically active (i.e., anti-Constitutional) Muslims end up wanting to move straight back home again if only.

        • P.S.: I could tell more stories.

Please, oh please do, Sassy. Personal experiences like yours lend much greater impact to what’s read. This goes double for newcomers here that may be unsure how to interpret the many conflicting reports that appear at VTB (as part of chronicling MSM treachery).

Getting credible, boots-on-the-ground accounts from people in the middle of this invasion goes light-years beyond almost all commercial reporting.

          Thanking you in advance,
          NR

  1. Furious Muslim parents withdraw children from school claiming their children are being brainwashed about gay rights in equality lessons (dailymail, Mar 3, 2019)
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6766643/Birmingham-Muslim-parents-withdraw-600-children-Parkfield-Community-School-LGBT-lessons.html

“An estimated 600 Muslim children have been withdrawn from a school in protest against lessons about homosexuality and gender equality.

The pupils, aged between 4 and 11, are being kept home from Parkfield Community School in Birmingham to protest the school’s ‘No Outsiders’ programme, which teaches children about LGBT lifestyles.

The children involved in the mass exodus represent about 80 per cent of the school’s entire enrolment.

The Alum Community Rock Forum told Birmingham Live the pupils were pulled out of the classroom, because the school was ‘undermining parental rights and aggressively promoting homosexuality’.

‘Dialogue, petitioning and protests by parents have been repeated and arrogantly ignored,’ the forum said.

‘Our children, our choice – work with parents not against them.’

Friday’s action comes after weekly demonstrations against the school’s programme, including one that was attended by 300 parents and children last month.

Some Muslim demonstrators said they would rather leave the UK than allow their children to continue attending Parkfield Community School.

Some joined in with the chants and held placards reading: ‘Education not indoctrination.’

One child carried a handwritten sign which said: ‘Let kids be kids.’

Parents’ anger is aimed at the school’s assistant head Andrew Moffat, who is behind the No Outsiders lessons.

He created the scheme to teach children about the Equality Act and British values.

Pupils at the school – rated outstanding by Ofsted – have five of these lessons a year, covering areas outlined in the Act: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.

The programme was first piloted at the school in 2014 and is now also taught at dozens of other schools in the country.

Mr Moffat, who is in a civil partnership, was made an MBE for services to equality and diversity in education in 2017.

He is currently shortlisted for a ‘world’s best teacher’ award.

He resigned from a previous teaching post at another school after a row with Christian parents over lessons challenging homophobia – and is now facing even more vocal complaints from parents at Parkfield, where 98 per cent of the 750 pupils are said to be from an Islamic background.

Mariam Ahmed, whose four-year-old daughter attends the school, organised a petition against the No Outsiders project.

She said: ‘What they are teaching is not right, they are too young. There are nine parts of the Act and they only seem to be focusing on one, homosexuality, and that is wrong. They need to have an ethos which reflects the area.

‘It’s not just because we are Muslims, there are Christians here too. We don’t have a vendetta against homosexuals and we respect the Act.

‘We respect that Mr Moffat is gay and we are happy for him to teach.’

One father at the school, whose six-year-old daughter attends the school, said his wife wanted to leave the country rather than let her daughter attend the lessons.

The man, who did not want to be named, said: ‘My daughter has been asking questions my wife did not know how to answer.

‘She is too young for this. A family who live near me have already returned to Pakistan because of it.’

Some of the parents said Islam did not accept homosexuality, while others said they were not against it, but accused the teacher of promoting ‘personal beliefs’.

Mr Moffat said he tried to meet parents, but stopped when they became ‘personal and aggressive’.

He has described receiving threats from parents online. He told the BBC: ‘I have felt very threatened … it’s been a challenging couple of weeks.

‘However, what keeps me going is the support from the school which is absolutely brilliant, Ofsted [and] the city council.’

Currently, Year Five children, aged nine and ten, are taught about puberty and reproduction.

Many under-11s currently learn about relationships in Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) classes but this is not mandatory.

The Government is, however, bringing in new compulsory ‘relationships’ education which will include teaching tolerance of same sex couples and transgender people.

Parkfield Community School has said it wants pupils to be ‘accepting and to welcome anybody’.

In a statement it said it was ‘disappointed’ by the protest but had ‘no plans’ to drop the ‘successful’ No Outsiders programme.”

    • Did you read the recent British Columbia story? Horrific.

Parents must submit to their 14-yr old kid who thinks he might be a girl, accept hormone treatment, and call him by his girl name and treat him as a girl, failing which they will be accused of child abuse.

We need legislation that gives authority of the parents over the kids up to the age of 18-yrs old.

We’re seeing everything terrible unfold before our eyes and the only people that have power are a tiny minority. What happened?

      • Out of the door with the pervert,if the “authorities” want this let them pay, look after the thing themselves, then it can be as queer as it wants.

      • We’re seeing everything terrible unfold before our eyes and the only people that have power are a tiny minority. What happened?

It is the Gramscian march of Bezmenov’s demoralization through Western institutions. People raised without any examples of courage—or those who’ve been stripped of it—are prime candidates to accept Big Government’s smothering embrace.

The dovetailing of Leftist and elite agendas informs a new, and potentially deadliest ever, threat to Western Civilization. This congregation (Congress, if you prefer) of obscenities is the fulmination culmination of a Communist, chess-obsessed culture’s long game.

With Islam as its loyal whore royal escort, this new aristocracy has a vision of global domination almost identical to jihad. The way profiteering Tranzis convince zealous Pomo Progs that they can paint their way out of every corner doesn’t pass any rational smell test.

It’s the only strategy by which Globalist schemers can achieve their post-human goals. They transcend all prior ideologically driven slaughter by more than an order of magnitude. Disguised as a Green New Deal, just the United Nations Environment Programme easily could kill a significant faction of Earth’s population.

All the better to facilitate management of whatever surviving human capital that doesn’t first need reeducation.

        • Disguised as a Green New Deal, just the United Nations Environment Programme easily could kill a significant faction of Earth’s population.

Google “Deep Ecology” when you do this and read what you find you discover the followers want the majority of humanity to die. This knowledge explains a lot of the actinos of the left.

            • I agree, yucki. That sort of misanthropic filth is lower than a snake’s belly fulla buckshot. Ranks right down there with bottom feeding 9-11 conspiracy freaks and lunar landing hoaxers.

Why, oh why can’t these anti-humanists please do everyone a big favor and (just like all those bomb vest imams) lead by example?

      • People weren’t paying attention and the far left seized control of the nations, now they are using their power to destroy our culture, our civilization and possibly our nations. We have to fight so we can remain free, as long as we remain free we can rebuild everything else, it won’t be easy and it won’t be peaceful but as long as we keep fighting we can’t lose.

  2. Pakistan plans decisive crackdown on militant outfits (thedailystar, Mar 4, 2019)
    https://www.thedailystar.net/world/south-asia/news/pakistan-plans-decisive-crackdown-militant-outfits-1710322

“A decisive crackdown on extremist and militant organisations in Pakistan looks imminent.

“The action would soon be visible as things progress,” a source told a group of journalists at a background briefing on Sunday.

The imminence of an action against extremist groups was confirmed by Pakistani Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry while talking in DawnNews programme Do Raaye.

He said the government had taken a firm decision that there would be a stern action against all militant groups. This, he said, was in accordance with the political consensus contained in the National Action Plan (NAP)…”

    • Did anybody notice no more news and no bodies re India and Pakistan?
As I said to RICHARD, it was all Smoke and Mirrors to save face.
I also told him the USA has India’s back and therefore, Pakistan will submit.
I hope he remembers. Common sense.

      • There were bodies they just weren’t shown.

Yes they are setting on the situation for many reasons but it wasn’t smoke and mirrors, it was real and had the possibility of turning very serious.

Also as I said when things happen in that region you have to ask was China involved? They want to control all of the land in that region and in many cases they want to evict the current inhabitants.

        • Also as I said when things happen in that region you have to ask was China involved?

Since Russia’s exsanguinated economy can only dream of militarily securing eleven time zones—not without WMDs, that is—the real whale (casino lingo for, “way too much spare time and money”) on this Cold War II playground is East Asia’s bully-in-residence, Red China. “Red” as in: Their flag’s been a lot redder than Moscow’s for a long time now.

An anemic ursid leaves only the Subcontinent’s tiger to flank a presently coiled but disturbingly hungry dragon. So far as no further territory of its own gets lost, the Kremlin is unlikely to align with any boroughs surrounding Beijing’s lair.

Politburo meddlers see little standing in the way of them devouring so much neighboring prey. If Oso stays in his cave, almost any other neighbor is a fast food snack with nothing more peptic for them to say about such ill-prepared snacks than: “A slight disorder of the stomach … an undigested bit of beef, a blot of mustard, a crumb of cheese, a fragment of an underdone potato. There’s more of gravy than of grave about you [suburbs], whatever you are!”

There’s only an unpleasant New Delhi next door that refuses to curry favor with silkie Mandarin cocks roosters.

Meanwhile Trump isn’t sheepish about goring the economic ox of these rats even as they horse around with us Capitalist running dogs, while acting like snakes in the grass and rabbiting off whenever they’re caught monkeying about anywhere outside of their own Socialist (now with even more Social CreditsChinese characteristics”) pig sty. Only in the nicest sort of zodiacal way, of course.

          • Russia got a _yuge_ contract for a Kalashnikov plant in India. The newest model’s gotten good reviews.

“The compound, jointly run by India’s Ordnance Factory Board (OAB) and Russia’s Kalashnikov Concern, is licensed to produce a whopping 750,000 of AK-203s – the latest upgrade of the time-proven 7.62mm assault rifle.

Russian defense industry officials say the ambitious project aims high and plans to make even more AKs, including their future derivatives.

The 203 model is based upon AK-100 series assault rifles which, in turn, inherited many properties of the older AK-74 version. While muzzle velocity and reliability largely remained the same, its accuracy and ergonomics improved dramatically.”

  3. Indonesia and Australia sign pact eliminating many tariffs (abcnews, Mar 4, 2019)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/indonesia-australia-sign-agreement-boost-trade-61448954

“Indonesia and Australia signed a free trade agreement Monday that will eliminate many tariffs, allow Australian-owned hospitals to operate in the giant Southeast Asian country and increase work visas for young Indonesians.

Trade ministers from the two countries signed the agreement, negotiations for which first began in 2010, at a Jakarta hotel with Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla looking on.

It is subject to ratification in both countries. Indonesian Minister of Trade Enggartiasto Lukita said Indonesia would complete ratification by the end of this year.

Annual trade between Australia and Indonesia in goods and services is valued at $11.6 billion. Though neighbors, their trade is relatively small, with Indonesia’s exports to Australia just 1.5 percent of its total exports. Indonesia, with 260 million people, is forecast to be one of the world’s biggest economies by 2030.

Australian Minister of Trade Simon Birmingham said the agreement “will take Australian and Indonesian relations to a new plane, one in which our economic and trade relations will be much deeper, stronger and richer for both our nations.”…”

  4. Labour Leader Corbyn Attacked Outside London Mosque – Reports (sputniknews, Mar 4, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201903041072928765-uk-labour-corbyn-egg/

“Over the past several years, the UK Labour Party has been facing allegations of anti-Semitism with Jeremy Corbyn consistently rejecting the accusations, pledging to intensify efforts to fight the charges surfacing in the party.

Metropolitan Police stated on 3 March that a man attacked opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn with an egg outside the Muslim Welfare Centre in Finsbury Park, London, adding that Corbyn was not hurt in the incident.

“A 41-year-old man was quickly detained by officers on scene and arrested on suspicion of assault. He is currently in custody at a north London police station”, police said in a statement.

According to the British media, the arrested man was a pro-Brexit campaigner, with no confirmation following so far. Social media users have reported their own version of the incident.

The Labour leader was at a Finsbury Park Mosque to attend the fifth annual Visit My Mosque day.

Corbyn earlier announced that his party would back a second Brexit referendum if Prime Minister Theresa May failed to adopt his party’s approach toward Brexit, which envisages changes to the political declaration accepted by London and Brussels. The requirements for “a permanent and comprehensive customs union with the bloc” and “close alignment with the single market underpinned by shared institutions and obligations” were among Corbyn’s five demands.”

  5. Outrage as Swedish Greens Blame Swedes for Migrants’ Crime, Failure to Integrate (sputniknews, Mar 4, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201903041072928674-sweden-migrants-integration/

“Politicians from Sweden’s junior government party have blamed their compatriots for failing to accept immigrants and integrate into a new, globalist society. However, their accusations of “cultural superiority” have backfired.

Immigrants are not to be blamed for failed integration or the numerous shootings in migrant-heavy areas. Instead, the blame rests with “Swedes’ national chauvinism”, Green Youth members Manuel Cortez Azero and Hedda Berkesand claimed in an opinion piece in the Expressen daily, stirring massive outrage.

The Green Youth members reminded the public that there had been a total of 100 shootings in Stockholm in 2018 alone, a record high. Of them, 11 ended with fatalities. From this, the duo drew the conclusion that the problem rests with the Swedes themselves.

“The beginning and the end of the problem lies in the Swedes’ national chauvinism”, the duo concluded.

The Green duo blame their fellow Swedes for believing that Swedish culture is “superior”. Therefore, they wrote, they are only willing to compromise on superficial parts of their culture, such as eating habits, and don’t seek any deeper integration.

The Green politicians also claimed that Swedes refuse to fully accept third-world immigrants and adapt to them, which is said to be the root of all the problems.

“The Swedes said they were willing to make cultural compromises and integrate with the newcomers. In practice, however, the new Swedes have to switch their cultural identity and expression almost entirely to be able to enter society. Therefore, we have assimilation, not integration”, Azero and Berkesand wrote.

The Green duo also warned that Swedes will be hit hard, if they don’t fully accept globalism.

“The world is here. Globalisation will continue. Despite right-wing nationalism, despite and owing to climate change” Azero and Berkesand wrote, calling a “willingness to compromise and integrate” the only path to victory.

“If we don’t cope with the deadly shootings in the suburbs, it’s just a taste of what’s coming”, they concluded.

The Green take on integration has made many Swedes furious.

Columnist and writer Ann Heberelein, a doctor of ethics, called the Greens’s opinion piece “detached from reality” and “absurd”. She also cited the UN Refugee Convention, which stipulates the refugee’s responsibility to adapt to their new homeland and follow its laws.

“Call me a conservative, but I prefer Swedish equality and its view of, say LGBT, to a culture that oppresses women, to genital mutilation and child marriage”, Heberlein wrote in her counterpunch in Nyheter Idag.

“That’s the most braindead idea from the Greens so far. And this is not little, considering what madness they have been producing before”, said one Twitter user venting his indignation.

“So if 500,000 Swedes decide to move to, say, Yemen, they’ll have adapt to our culture? Christ, how confused you are”, another one commented.

“Yeah, right. We have never wanted MENA people’s cultural contribution in the form of honour-based violence, girls thrown from balconies, Islamist coercion, child marriage, polygamy and their support. Something is really off in Green Youth’s skulls!” another lady noted.

“So Swedes do exist after all? I thought it was all a social construct”, yet another user wrote, mocking the left-wing narrative. “But yes, you are right. We ordinary Swedes have never asked for multiculturalism, it has been an elite project from day one”, he continued.

In 2018, Sweden saw a record 45 dead in 306 shooting incidents. The police attributed most of them to gangland conflicts over influence and drug wars. Some 75% of incidents occurred in troubled city suburbs.

The head of the intelligence unit at the National Operation Department (NOA) Linda Staaf told the newspaper Metro, that Sweden stands out in comparison with other European nations experiencing deadly violence in exclusion areas with low socioeconomic status.

The Greens emerged in 1981 out of the anti-nuclear power movement and have been represented in parliament since 1994. In October 2014, the Greens entered the corridors of power as the junior partner to the Swedish Social Democratic Party in the Löfven Cabinet minority coalition government.”

  6. Finland Witnessing ‘Unacceptable’ Spike in Migrants’ Threats to Authorities (sputniknews, Mar 4, 2019)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201903041072930115-finland-threats-migrants/

“Despite the fact that Finland now has several thousand fewer asylum seekers, the number of threats against reception centre staff has doubled. The outbreaks of aggression include verbal threats, raised voices, and even things being thrown at walls.

In 2018, the Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) received 173 reports of threats against reception centre staff, double the number registered in 2017, despite the fact that thousands fewer people continue to live in these facilities. This has been attributed to both a lower reporting threshold and extreme frustration with the asylum process, national broadcaster Yle reported.

According to Yle, Finnish reception centre residents are increasingly prone to vent their frustrations by adopting aggressive behaviour toward the staff.

“Some of the reports include addressing staff with raised voices, hurling items at walls or issuing verbal threats”, Olli Snellman, the head of Migri’s reception centre service told Yle, calling this type of behaviour “unacceptable”.

At present, there are still about 10,000 asylum applicants living in reception centres across Finland. Most of these people arrived in the country during 2015 and 2016.

According to Snellman, the majority of these people have received at least one negative decision. Most of them tend to appeal the rulings and file new applications based on new grounds, including conversion to Christianity, which makes the return to their Muslim homelands a dangerous perspective.

According to Migri, the majority of asylum seekers hail from Iraq, a country that rejects deportees and only accepts voluntary returnees. This limits the authorities’ options in dealing with these people. The end result is that reception centres are full of asylum seekers whose hopes of acceptance are bleak, but who nevertheless cannot be deported.

“Traditionally, the reception centre system has operated so that the process has a clear beginning and an end. Now not everyone has that end in sight. Their dreams have been dashed but they also cannot be returned to their home countries”, Snellman explained.

Despite the rise in reported threats, he suggested it was difficult to say whether the atmosphere at reception centres has deteriorated, stressing that no physical harm to personnel has occurred so far.

Snellman explained that Migri had revised its guidelines at the beginning of 2018, which may have led to a lower threshold in reporting incidents.

The police said they have yet to detect any major changes in the security situation at reception centres. According to the police, calls from reception centres include such incidents as disputes among residents, accidents, self-harm or threats of self-harm and come “at a steady rate”.

In 2018, Migri issued about 58,000 residence permits and granted 9,600 citizenships. By contrast, only 6,500 residence permit applications were denied.”

  7. NAZIR AFZAL: I’ve prosecuted hundreds of killings, but nothing could prepare me for one of my family being stabbed to death (dailymail, Mar 4, 2019)
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-6767457/NAZIR-AFZAL-prepare-one-family-stabbed-death.html

“Over 25 years as a prosecutor, I have dealt with hundreds of murders. I have talked to the families of the victims, and their stories have moved me to tears.

But those experiences could never have prepared me for the shock of the phone call I received last Tuesday morning, when my brother told me that his wife’s 18-year-old nephew, Hazrat Umar, had been stabbed to the death in the street.

He was the eldest of four siblings, and nothing about him suggested his life might end this way. A popular, warm, kind-hearted teenager who was studying electrical engineering, he was on his way to his local gym in Birmingham at about 2pm last Monday when he was attacked.

He was the third teenager to be killed in the city in 12 days. So far this year, 269 knife crimes have been reported.

But to our family, of course, Hazrat was not a statistic.

The same must tragically apply to the family of 17-year-old Jodie Chesney, who, on Friday evening, became the 18th person to be stabbed to death in London this year, and the fifth teenager to die.

On Saturday, in another attack, Manchester Grammar School pupil Yousef Makki, 17, was stabbed to death.

I have prosecuted ‘hundreds of homicides’ for the Crown Prosecution Service but nothing can prepare you for what it is like to be a bereaved relative. It is no longer close to home: it is home.

I will never forget the grief and bewilderment in Hazrat’s mother’s voice when I rang to offer her what comfort I could.

‘What could I do to protect him?’ she asked me. ‘I couldn’t wrap him up in cotton wool.’

In those words, she expressed the fears of so many parents.

As the father of four children and, beyond grief, I feel utter outrage that so many young people are dying in alleyways, parks and on our streets.

Thousands more are taken to A&E departments with wounds that bring them inches from death. An investigation by Channel 4 Dispatches to be shown tonight shows that the number of under-16s treated in hospital for stab wounds has almost doubled in five years.

The day after Hazrat’s death, a 16-year-old was arrested on suspicion of killing him. Until we know more, it would not be appropriate to comment further, but I can speak about wider factors.

In particular, I am angry that it has taken so long for the authorities to recognise that the increasing number of such deaths constitutes a national ‘emergency’. That was the word used by Dave Thompson, Chief Constable of West Midlands Police, as he announced that stop-and-searches will be stepped up and more police will patrol the region’s streets.

Stop-and-search is a good policy if done appropriately, but this knee-jerk reaction is no substitute for proper policing — something that seems increasingly rare as a result, in part, to budget cuts.

The truth is that police are less visible on the streets, adding to a sense that people only see police driving past at high speed, blue lights flashing. Often, the police are viewed as instruments of the State rather than protectors of the public.

That needs to change, not least because of the intelligence-gathering that ‘bobbies on the beat’ make possible. Such information is vital in combating knife crime.

The reasons for the recent spate of violence are manifold. They include the drug trade via ‘county lines’, with young men and even children forced to sell by older dealers.

We must also consider the insidious effects of social media, with online insults moving into the real world, threatening the possibility of violence. Good policing can tackle all of these, but they are symptoms of deeper causes.

Yes, the police can arrest drug dealers and gang members who recruit vulnerable youngsters into lives of crime. And yes, ‘drill videos’, which incite acts of violence, can be removed from websites.

But we also need to work to stop young people becoming susceptible to such pernicious influences in the first place.

Further, as Trevor Phillips, the former chairman of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, has said, we must not ‘whitewash’ this issue. We must have an ‘open and honest’ discussion about the fact that young men from ethnic minorities are disproportionately both the perpetrators and victims of knife crime.

Class plays a part, too, and a failure of civil leadership. The fears and vulnerabilities that lead youngsters to carry knives are greatest in poor areas.

I discovered this the last time we had a surge in knife crime, around ten years ago. Back then, I was assistant chief crown prosecutor, and youth club volunteers arranged for me to meet a group of about 30 young men to find out what they felt about the problem.

When I asked how many were carrying knives, around two-thirds of them put up their hands. One young man made it clear that poverty is often a factor. ‘When you ain’t got s***, you’re going to do what you can to defend it,’ he told me.

Others complained of a lack of discipline at school, leaving them at the mercy of bullies, or that the police had allowed parts of their neighbourhood to become no-go areas for gangs. All had one thing in common, however: they saw knives as essential to their survival.

Subsequently, I met senior police officers and helped devise a violent-crime strategy which involved better engagement with the young and educating them about the consequences of carrying weapons. The following year, knife crime dropped by 50 per cent.

I’m not saying our strategy was a magic wand, but prevention is the way forward. But where can children find the mentoring and support they need when the only places they can congregate are outside takeaways or on park benches?

When I was growing up in Birmingham, there were youth clubs. Nor did the education system give up on troubled kids — yet, today, disruptive children are simply expelled. And where do they go after that? Sadly, too many just join other excluded young boys and begin criminal lives or become victims of crime.

Worryingly, the judicial system sends confused messages about deterrents. To reduce the prison population, the Government has announced plans to ban sentences of under six months — which is exactly the kind given to first-time knife offenders. The end result may be no sentence at all.

Meanwhile, every time another young man or woman loses their life, their family — like my brother’s — is left trying to pick up the pieces.

My late father would never have imagined a tragedy like this befalling our family when he moved here from Pakistan more than 60 years ago.

He came here not just because of the opportunities for work and education, but because he believed that Britain was a safer country than his native one.

I can only wonder what he would say about the death of Hazrat, and the violence that plagues our streets today.

My own way of dealing with grief has been to think about ways of reducing the number of crimes so that others will not have to endure the deep sorrow visited upon my family and the families of Jodie Chesney and Yousef Makki over recent days.

“The Metropolitan Police have issued a description of the killer who stabbed a 17-year-old girl to death in Romford, London.

Victim Jodie Chesney, reported to have been a Ranger Guide in the Explorer Scouts, was listening to music at a park near St Neot’s Road in Harold Hill with other teenagers on Friday evening.

She and her group became aware of two males who left the area around 9 p.m., according to a police statement.

The pair returned not long afterwards and made directly for Jodie’s group, and on reaching them one of the two — “described as a black male aged in his late teens”, according to the Met — stabbed her in the back and fatally wounded her.

The suspects had reportedly not interacted with Jodie, who joins an increasingly long list of knife murder victims in the British capital as violent crime continues to rise. They are said to have carried out their attack and made their escape without saying a word…”

“SHAMIMA Begum has been blocked from living in the Netherlands after her Dutch husband Yago Riedijk demanded they and their newborn son be granted citizenship there.

The 27-year-old, who abandoned his seemingly normal life in the Netherlands in 2014 to join ISIS, told the BBC he longs to be allowed home with his wife and newborn son. But the Dutch Justice and Security Ministry told news agency AFP while they can’t discuss individual cases, a spouse would need a passport and to meet “requirements regarding public order and national security”. The ministry said Begum and Reidijk would be “transported to the Netherlands, arrested and prosecuted”, adding the country “doesn’t offer any help to Dutchmen in Syria willing to return”

The Dutch Justice and Security Ministry foreign fighters with dual nationality could also lose their citizenship.

Under Dutch law, Riedijk would face just six-years in prison for joining the terrorist organisation if he returned to the Netherlands.

Begum has begged to be allowed to return to Britain, despite having her UK citizenship revoked, arguing she was “tricked” into becoming a jihadi bride.

She has pleaded for a “second chance” at life in the UK, saying she is “not dangerous” and offered to “help” young girls thinking of joining ISIS…”

    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201903041072936794-Baghdadi-hiding-desert/

“Iraqi lawmaker Hassan Salem earlier stated that the leader of Daesh* has been hiding in the deserts of Anbar Province in Iraq, and is being protected by the US military.

One of the Daesh* fighters captured by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mohammed Ali, has told The Sunday Times that the militants believe the caliphate leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, is not present in the sliver of land still held by the terrorist group, but is hiding somewhere in the desert. The Daesh* fighter added that the fact that their leader hasn’t joined other militants for a last stand has been a source of great frustration to them.

“He’s hiding somewhere. People were angry”, he said.

According to the newspaper’s source, the disappearance of the Daesh* leader has spurred internal fighting within the terrorist organisation.

“The conflict was between foreign fighters. They were asking, ‘where is the caliph?'”, the source said.

According to the newspaper, locals, as well as western officials in the region, believe al-Baghdadi is hiding in the Iraqi desert in Anbar Province. This report correlates to statements made by Iraqi lawmaker Hassan Salem, who said that Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is hiding in the desert under the protection of the US military, who want to use him in case Baghdad adopts laws forcing American troops to leave the country.

Earlier, The Guardian reported, citing intelligence forces, that al-Baghdadi had barely survived an assassination attempt in a village near Hajin on 10 January organised by some of his closest foreign fighters. Following the incident, his bodyguards took him to the nearby desert…”

By Ben Bowles March 4, 2019

Sunday was a busy day for the Left in America. Socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders launched a kickoff rally for his 2020 presidential campaign at his alma mater, Brooklyn College, where he told a cold but enthusiastic crowd:

Donald Trump wants to divide us up based on the color of our skin, based on where we were born, based on our gender, our religion and our sexual orientation.

    https://twitter.com/thehill/status/1102200200892960769

Really? One might easily mistake those for the goals of Sanders and his fellow Democrats, who drone on endlessly about how diversity is our strength?

Across the country, in Los Angeles, an even more pointed display of the Left’s contempt for the climate of division and hatred that Donald Trump is blamed for sowing found expression in a piece of “performance art.” The “work” consisted of placing white men in MAGA hats and leashes and “walking” on all fours up and down Hollywood Boulevard. The project culminated at Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where the dogs growled and yapped like angry curs — which frankly was not that much of a stretch for the actors. Watch:

  16. Tareena Shakil: Former Jihadi bride ‘is fighting terror’ (express, Mar 4, 2019)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1095043/tareena-shakil-jihadi-bride-fighting-terror-radicalisation-shamima-begum

“A FORMER Jihadi bride who posed with an AK-47 after travelling to join Islamic State in Syria is now campaigning to stop others being radicalised.

Mike Jervis, a specialist in getting people to leave gangs – and who also deals with terrorists – said Tareena Shakil, 29, “completely engaged” with his de-radicalisation program.

He believes Jihadi bride Shamima Begum, who was stripped of her British citizenship while in a refugee camp in Syria could potentially be brought back into society.

Former finance student Shakil fled for Syria with her 18-month-old son in October 2014 after calling on social media for people to fight for Islamic State.

She was known as the Towie Jihadi because of her love of the reality TV show but later sent her family pictures of her posing with a firearm and others of her son and her wearing balaclavas with the IS logo.

Mr Jervis said: “Tareena is the only female to have returned from Syria and is now seeking to prevent people being recruited into extremism.”

In February 2016 she was jailed for six years for joining Isis and inciting terrorism.

Last summer she was released on licence in the Birmingham area.

Following her release she was referred to Mr Jervis, who is head of intervention at Active Change Foundation, one of the country’s main charities which helps get radicalised extremists and street gang members back into society.

He added: “Tareena’s circumstances differ substantially from Ms Begum. Tareena completely engaged with us.”

He feels that were she still a British citizen, Begum could potentially be deradicalised.

“You have to look at the intelligence she could provide. She might not want to comply but it is in the national interest to try.”

The charity has a five-point intervention strategy which can last for several years.

Asked if it were possible for a terrorist to pretend to want to de-radicalise, just to slip safely back into the country, Mr Jervis said: “It is very difficult for someone to pull the wool over a practitioner’s eyes.””

The west tried for decades to do such with communists with the embarrassing pictures of NK POWs throwing off their US provided clothing rather than wear it home a testimony to its uselessness. The only communists who changed were those capable of the willpower and the intellect to see the flaws and to act upon this themselves. Jihadists and their wives have scarcely enough of either let alone the desire to change. None should be admitted back and in fact all should be perma exiled to some islamic sewer.

  20. GERMANY – €6.5 million to prevent male violence in migrant families in Germany

The German government says it wants to crack down on violence against women in migrant families. Plans announced by the Minister of State for Integration include funding to educate migrant men about gender equality and the law.

“Anyone who commits a serious crime like domestic violence, rape or genital mutilation, will be tracked down and severely punished,” Germany’s minister of state for integration, refugees and migration, Annette Widmann-Mauz, announced on Wednesday. “We also need to make greater efforts at all levels so that it doesn’t come to violence in the first place,” she told the German news company RedaktionsNetzwerk.

Widmann-Mauz, who is a member of the conservative Christian Democrat party, says €6.5 million will be put into new projects to prevent violence against women. According to the Ministry for Family Affairs, one in four women suffers physical or sexual violence from a partner at least once in their lifetime.

    Men educating men

There should be opportunities for discussion between men who have been living here for a long time and new migrants, to talk about women’s rights and equal opportunity, Widmann-Mauz said, adding that she supports initiatives to train male counselors for this purpose. At the same time, she said women needed to be better informed about the kinds of help available.

Widmann-Mauz’s comments were published ahead of a meeting of experts in the Cabinet today to discuss violence against women and the launch of a new guide for migrant and refugee men. The guide explains women’s rights and the prevention of violence and provides information about related laws.

There is no reliable data on violence against women within migrant families in Germany, according to RedaktionsNetzwerk. However, experts working in refugee aid often report that newly-arrived women are exposed to a higher risk of violence, resulting from a “higher tolerance of violence in the country of origin, a patriarchal concept of masculine identity and the demands facing many men as a result of their situation in Germany.”

    ‘Violence is not imported’

Robert Franken, the co-founder of the Male Feminists Europe network, based in Germany, welcomed the idea of men talking to men about how to stop violence against women. But he said he was skeptical about the context and “shocked” at the implication that violence was an imported phenomenon.

“Sexism and misogyny and violence against women is a sad fact in Germany and has been for a long time,” Franken told InfoMigrants. “We should be very careful about implying that migrant men are more dangerous or violent than German men.”

  24. Dems Will Fight Any Alternative to Public Schools
    March 3, 2019
    Daniel Greenfield

If President Trump wanted to go the Obama route, he could sign an executive order on school choice and then force the Dems to try and deny it to the parents sending their children to Catholic schools. The administration isn’t doing that. Instead it announced a very limited push for a tax credit.

Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and Republican lawmakers have announced a proposed tax credit that would go toward donations to private school scholarships and other school choice initiatives.

According to DeVos, states could choose whether or not they want to participate. (Many states already have programs on the books that grant tax breaks to residents who donate to scholarship programs.)

This is the most limited move imaginable.

It takes no money out of the failed public school system. It provides no money. All it does
is make it easier for parents, who are already burdened with crippling property tax bills to fund public school unions (and the Democrats they fund) to afford an alternative.

And that means that the Dems will fight it tooth and nail.

College campuses have become safe spaces where civil rights don’t apply. Principles like free speech, innocent until proven guilty and bans on racial discrimination have been swept aside in a social justice purge that fundamentally endangers civil rights and is often illegal.

President Trump’s CPAC pledge to make research grants to colleges dependent on free speech through an executive order is an important first step.

“Today, I am proud to announce that I will be very soon signing an executive order requiring colleges and universities to support free speech if they want federal research funds,” the President of the United States said.

  26. CBC – Jane Philpott resigns from cabinet, citing loss of ‘confidence’ over government’s handling of SNC-Lavalin

Treasury Board president leaves as controversy over political interference in criminal case intensifies

Jane Philpott, one of Justin Trudeau’s most trusted ministers, announced today she has resigned from cabinet as the Liberal government’s crisis over the SNC-Lavalin affair deepens.

“I must abide by my core values, my ethical responsibilities and constitutional obligations,” she said in a written statement.

    https://twitter.com/janephilpott/status/1102660614307172352

“There can be a cost to acting on one’s principles, but there is a bigger cost to abandoning them.”

Philpott, the MP for Markham-Stouffville, said she has been considering the events that have shaken the federal government in recent weeks and, after “serious reflection,” concluded she must quit.

She said the constitutional convention of cabinet solidarity means ministers are expected to defend all cabinet decisions and other ministers publicly, and must speak in support of the government and its policies.

“Given this convention and the current circumstances, it is untenable for me to continue to serve as a cabinet minister,” she wrote.

“Unfortunately, the evidence of efforts by politicians and/or officials to pressure the former attorney general to intervene in the criminal case involving SNC-Lavalin, and the evidence as to the content of those efforts, have raised serious concerns for me. Those concerns have been augmented by the views expressed by my constituents and other Canadians.”

A statement from the PMO said Trudeau accepted Philpott’s resignation and thanked her for her dedication and years of service to Canadians. Public Service and Procurement Minister Carla Qualtrough will immediately take over her duties as acting president of the Treasury Board.

“The Prime Minister will have more to say at his event in Toronto this evening,” reads the statement.

Philpott is a close ally of Jody Wilson-Raybould, the former justice minister and attorney general at the centre of the SNC-Lavalin scandal. Wilson-Raybould testified before a Commons committee last week that 11 officials in the Prime Minister’s Office and other offices inappropriately pressured her to override a decision to prosecute SNC-Lavalin on bribery charges related to contracts in Libya.

The Quebec-based global engineering and construction firm faces a 10-year ban on federal contracts if it’s convicted.

Philpott said the principles that maintain an independent justice system are at stake in the SNC-Lavalin affair. A fundamental doctrine of the rule of law is that the attorney general not be subjected to political pressure or interference regarding the exercise of prosecutorial discretion in criminal cases.

    ‘Lost confidence’ in government’s response
“Sadly, I have lost confidence in how the government has dealt with this matter and in how it has responded to the issues raised,” Philpott said in the statement.?

Wilson-Raybould tweeted in response to the resignation late this afternoon.

“For almost 4 years our country has witnessed your constant & unassailable commitment to always doing what is right & best for Cdns. You are a leader of vision & strength & I look forward to continuing to work alongside you,” the Twitter post reads.

Wilson-Raybould resigned from cabinet on Feb. 12, just days after a Feb. 7 Globe and Mail report that said she was pressured as attorney general to overturn the decision to prosecute SNC-Lavalin.

She remains in the Liberal caucus, and confirmed on the weekend that she intends to seek re-election under the Liberal Party banner.

Today, Trudeau said he is still considering whether to allow Wilson-Raybould to remain in the caucus.

Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer tweeted that Trudeau’s government “is in chaos.”

“He wouldn’t allow the former attorney general to speak freely, so we don’t know her full story. Trudeau’s story changes daily and won’t come clean with Canadians. He needs to fully cooperate with any RCMP investigations and resign,” he said.

NDP ethics critic Charlie Angus called Philpott’s resignation a “watershed moment.”

“It is a sad day for Canada to lose a minister with such integrity. Nobody in government has done more to push reconciliation than Ms. Philpott. I have utmost respect for her,” he tweeted.

After Philpott announced her resignation, she was praised online by Ontario Liberal MP Celina Caesar-Chavannes, who announced Saturday she would not be seeking re-election this year.

Caesar-Chavannes posted on Twitter that she had informed the prime minister and whip of her “tremendously difficult” decision on Feb. 12, but stressed that it was not related to the SNC-Lavalin affair or Wilson-Raybould’s testimony at the justice committee.

    Praise for Philpott
Today, Caesar-Chavannes tweeted that women in politics can be expected to “make correct decisions, stand for what is right and exit when values are compromised.

“Thank you @janephilpott for articulating this beautifully.”

On Wednesday, the justice committee will hear testimony from Gerry Butts, Trudeau’s close friend and former principal secretary.

Butts resigned from the PMO on Feb. 18 amid allegations he and others exerted political interference on Wilson-Raybould to override the Public Prosecution Service director’s decision to prosecute SNC-Lavalin.

“At all times, I and those around me acted with integrity and a singular focus on the best interests of all Canadians,” Butts said in a statement at the time.

In her testimony to committee last week, Wilson-Raybould detailed a meeting with Butts on Dec. 5, 2018. She said she wanted to speak about several things, including the barrage of people “hounding” her and her staff about the impact of prosecuting SNC-Lavalin.

“Towards the end of the meeting I raised how I needed everyone to stop talking to me about SNC as I had made up my mind and the engagements were inappropriate,” she testified. “Gerry then took over the conversation and said how we need a solution on the SNC stuff — he said I needed to find a solution.”

CBC – Jane Philpott resigns from cabinet

Treasury Board President Jane Philpott has resigned from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s cabinet amid a scandal over the SNC-Lavalin affair.

    • NATIONAL POST – Jane Philpott resigns from Trudeau’s cabinet, says she has ‘lost confidence’ in handling of SNC-Lavalin affair

Philpott: ‘There can be a cost to acting on one’s principles, but there is a bigger cost to abandoning them’

OTTAWA — Treasury Board president Jane Philpott resigned Monday from the federal cabinet, saying she’s lost confidence in the way the Trudeau government has dealt with the SNC-Lavalin affair.

“A minister must always be prepared to defend other ministers publicly, and must speak in support of the government and its policies,” she said in a resignation letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. “Given this convention and the current circumstances, it is untenable for me to continue to serve as a cabinet minister.”

Philpott’s resignation comes just less than a month after former attorney general Jody Wilson-Raybould resigned from cabinet amid allegations that the Prime Minister’s Office improperly pressured her to stop a criminal prosecution of Montreal engineering giant SNC-Lavalin.

Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer tweeted that the second resignation demonstrates “Justin Trudeau’s government is in chaos.” He called again for Trudeau to resign and for an RCMP investigation of the affair.

Like Wilson-Raybould, Philpott said she intends to remain a Liberal MP — for Markham-Stouffville outside Toronto, in her case.

Philpott is good friends with Wilson-Raybould, who delivered bombshell testimony last week accusing officials of relentlessly pressuring her and even issuing veiled threats to try to get her to co-operate in helping SNC-Lavalin avoid a criminal prosecution. The company is a pillar of Montreal’s business community and a major player in infrastructure projects both inside and outside Canada.

“Unfortunately, the evidence of efforts by politicians and/or officials to pressure the former attorney general to intervene in the criminal case involving SNC-Lavalin, and the evidence as to the content of those efforts have raised serious concerns for me,” Philpott wrote.

“The solemn principles at stake are the independence and integrity of our justice system. It is a fundamental doctrine of the rule of law that our attorney general should not be subjected to political pressure or interference regarding the exercise of her prosecutorial discretion in criminal cases. Sadly, I have lost confidence in how the government has dealt with this matter and in how it has responded to the issues raised.”

Philpott has been widely seen as one of Trudeau’s most capable ministers. As minister of health, she worked with Wilson-Raybould in legalizing medical assistance in dying. As minister of Indigenous services, she oversaw drastic reductions in the number of long-term advisories on water safety on First Nations reserves.

She was moved to Treasury Board in mid-January in the same shuffle that saw Wilson-Raybould moved out of the justice portfolio into veterans affairs. Treasury Board is a less-visible ministry concerned with the nuts and bolts of government operations but the president effectively holds the government’s purse strings, overseeing all federal spending. Philpott took over the post from Scott Brison, who retired from politics.

The solemn principles at stake are the independence and integrity of our justice system

In Victoria, Border Security Minister Bill Blair said he is “very saddened” by Philpott’s resignation.

“Jane Philpott has done an outstanding job in all of her portfolios and served Canadians exceptionally well,” he said, adding that he’s pleased she intends to remain in the Liberal caucus.

Whether she will is not certain. Trudeau has been pondering whether Wilson-Raybould can stay in caucus and run as a Liberal candidate in this fall’s federal election — a matter on which he said earlier Monday he’s still reflecting. He will now presumably have to add Philpott to his ruminations.

Blair refused to speculate when asked if he thinks more ministers might yet resign. But he reiterated his own support for Trudeau and the government he leads.

“I have great confidence in the team and the leadership of the prime minister.”

But Liberal backbencher Celina Caesar-Chavannes, who announced last week she won’t seek re-election, tweeted her support for Philpott, as she has done repeatedly for Wilson-Raybould since the SNC-Lavalin controversy erupted a month ago.

“When you add women, please do not expect the status quo. Expect us to make correct decisions, stand for what is right and exit when values are compromised. Thank you @janephilpott for articulating this beautifully,” Caesar-Chavannes wrote.

In Canada, the constitutional convention of Cabinet solidarity means, among other things, that ministers are expected to defend all Cabinet decisions. A minister must always be prepared to defend other ministers publicly, and must speak in support of the government and its policies. Given this convention and the current circumstances, it is untenable for me to continue to serve as a Cabinet minister.

Unfortunately, the evidence of efforts by politicians and/or officials to pressure the former Attorney General to intervene in the criminal case involving SNC-Lavalin, and the evidence as to the content of those efforts have raised serious concerns for me. Those concerns have been augmented by the views expressed by my constituents and other Canadians.

The solemn principles at stake are the independence and integrity of our justice system. It is a fundamental doctrine of the rule of law that our Attorney General should not be subjected to political pressure or interference regarding the exercise of her prosecutorial discretion in criminal cases. Sadly, I have lost confidence in how the government has dealt with this matter and in how it has responded to the issues raised.
