A 25-year-old woman was stabbed to death on Tuesday night in the middle of Vienna’s main railway station – she died on the spot. The suspect is the woman’s 21-year-old brother. The African-born Eyob E. with Spanish citizenship last lived in Vienna. He was arrested and is currently being questioned. As the newspaper “Krone” learned, the man’s family lives in Great Britain. However, the 21-year-old had moved to Vienna, where he worked as a cook for some time. The Spanish citizen was last unemployed – he is said to have lived as an “illegal” in the capital.At the main station there was a bloody meeting: Around 1.15 a.m. the quarrel between the siblings escalated. The 21-year-old pulled out a kitchen knife and rammed it several times into the body of his older sister. The young woman collapsed – for her any help was already too late. The 21-year-old tried to escape, but was held by security personnel until the police arrived. The man was arrested and is currently being questioned.

An asylum seeker from Syria, detained over the murder of a 16-year-old girl in Austria, has confessed that he strangled the teenager, the public prosecutor’s office in Wiener Neustadt, where the murder occurred, has revealed. Its spokesman, cited by the outlet Westfaelischer Anzeiger, said that the suspect had not made any statements about his motives.
According to media reports, he was an ex-boyfriend of the victim, whose body was found hidden under leaves and branches in a local park on 13 January.
The Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung reports that the mother herself made the gruesome discovery. She went looking for her child when the girl did not return home after a night out.
According to the prosecution, the suspect, who is named Yazan A. and born in Syria in 1999, had already been on their radar for allegedly assaulting and sexually harassing the 16-year-old, the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation reported. The prosecution has reportedly pressed charges against him over the allegations, but the process has not begun yet. While the asylum authority has initiated the procedure to revoke the suspect’s asylum status, a conviction is necessary in order for it to be completed, according to the media outlet. Austrian law stipulates that only serious crimes like rape, homicide, or armed robbery are grounds for revoking asylum status.
The city’s mayor, Klaus Schneeberger, expressed shock in his statement on the matter. He demanded that asylum seekers who have committed crimes should be deported. He said that if the suspect had been stripped of his asylum status the year before, then the murder could perhaps have been avoided, a fact, he pointed out, that made him sad and angry.
This crime occurred just a month after another killing in Austria, allegedly committed by an asylum seeker from Afghanistan. Cem Dikmen believes that the success of this struggle will free the Kurds from the threat of a terrorist corridor.
“With their lies, the Unites States is trying to hide its own crimes, but they won’t succeed in doing this”, Dikmen added.
In his statement, the politician noted that it’s not Trump’s tweets and the US’ dirty policies, but the resilience of the Turkish people and the strength of the Turkish Army that determine the fate of the region.
“The United States has suffered a defeat in Syria and is now trying to disguise it with blind threats and pressure”, he said.

Kenya terror attack: Huge EXPLOSION at Nairobi luxury hotel -4 armed gunman – police swoop (express, Jan 15, 2019)

“EXPLOSIONS and gunfire have rocked a luxury hotel and office complex in the Kenyan capital Nairobi with witnesses claiming the building is “under attack” and police and anti-terrorist forces are fighting to regain control of the area.
Initial reports from the scene said a suicide bomber led the attack and at least four gunmen were seen entering the complex in an upmarket area of the sprawling city. Police commander Philip Ndolo said armed units had cordoned off the area surrounding the DusitD2 hotel on Riverside Drive in the city. Local television showed smoke rising from the area. A woman inside the building said: “We are under attack.”
There has been no official statement on casualties but local media is reporting at least three people have been killed in the raid.
Somali Islamist militant group al Shabaab have claimed responsibility for the attack.
Abdiasis Abu Musab, al Shabaab’s military operations spokesman, said: “We are behind the attack in Nairobi. The operation is going on. We shall give details later.”
The claim of responsibility came as a plume of smoke rose above the 14 Riverside Drive complex.
Firefighters extinguished three blazing cars by the entrance as armed security personnel headed in and other armed officers escorted shocked workers out, many with their hands up.
A woman with serious leg injuries was carried out and three men emerged covered in blood.
Some office workers climbed out of windows and ran for their lives.
Many people said they had to leave colleagues behind, still huddled under their desks.
Geoffrey Otieno, who works at a beauty salon in the complex, said “We heard a loud bang from something that was thrown inside. Then I saw shattered glass. We hid until we were rescued.”
A woman working in a bank near the hotel said: “I just started hearing gunshots, and then started seeing people running away raising their hands up and some were entering the bank to hide for their lives.”
Witnesses said their had been at least one fatality and several casualties.

Several cars have been seen on fire and people are being carried away from the scene.
The attack comes on the third anniversary of the El Adde attack, which claimed the lives of several Kenyan soldiers in Somalia.
Kenya has often been targeted by al Shabaab, who killed dozens of people in a shopping centre in 2013 and nearly 150 students at a university in 2015.
The five-star DusitD2 hotel has 101 rooms. Located in the Westlands suburb, minutes from the capital’s business district, it has its own spa and several restaurants.

However, the number of casualties in different reports varies: thus, Reuters reports, citing a hospital official, that one person has been killed and four others injured.
As the officers at the scene stated, quoted by The Star, several people are being held hostage.
“Several hostages have been held in Dusit hotel and we are waiting for back up,” the law enforcement representative told the newspaper.
Later, Somali Islamist militant group al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the assault, as their spokesman stated cited by Reuters.
Shortly before that, a police spokesperson has stated, as quoted by CGTN Africa, that they are handling the incident as a terrorist attack. Speaking to local television, he also said they were not ruling out that it was a militant attack.

“POLICE in Catalonia have launched a major operation against Algerian and Moroccan suspects said to have been plotting a terror attack. Officers have confirmed they have made several arrests in Barcelona and one in nearby Igualada in the ongoing operation. They are understood to be targeting a jihadist support network.
Searches have taken place in five properties in the Catalan capital and a sixth in Igualada, a town an hour’s drive north west of Barcelona.
Well-placed sources say they expect to end up detaining around a dozen people.
The operation is being coordinated by the Audiencia Nacional – a Madrid-based central criminal court.
A spokesman for the regional Mossos d’Esquadra police force said: “A police counter-terrorism operation has been launched.
“We are carrying out six raids in Barcelona and Igualada following a lengthy operation coordinated by the Audiencia Nacional.
“The operation is ongoing. More than 100 officers from different units are taking part.
“Several arrests are taking place in Barcelona and one in Igualada as part of an operation relating to terrorism and other crimes including membership of a criminal organisation.”
Local reports said the detainees were part of a cell that were in the infancy of planning a terror attack.
One said they were suspected of stealing passports and other ID from tourists they could use as part of their plans.
Moroccan Younes Abouyaaqoub, 22, used a rented van to mow down and kill 15 people including British-born Julian Cadman, seven, in Barcelona’s famous Las Ramblas on August 17 last year.
More than 130 people were injured.
Police shot dead Younes in vineyards in Subirats an hour’s drive west of Barcelona after he went on the run following the Barcelona massacre. He was later buried in an unmarked grave in a funeral held in secret in his homeland.
City hall chiefs installed metal bollards after the attack to stop vehicle access.
Last month police in Barcelona revealed they had been warned a Moroccan man could carry out a terror attack in the city on Christmas Day.
Officers were told the Casablanca-born terrorist may try to commit a spectacular massacre in the Catalan capital using a coach or similar type of vehicle.
The terror warning was highlighted by several Spanish papers on Christmas Eve who said they had seen an internal alert sent to regional Mossos d’Esquadra officers.
The revelation surfaced after the US state department tweeted: “Spain. Exercise heightened caution around areas of vehicle movement including buses in the Las Ramblas area of Barcelona during Christmas and New Year.
Catalan Interior Minister Miquel Buch later confirmed the existence of the terror alert.
He said in a radio interview: “It’s one more of those we receive.
“No doubt this case is a little different because of the US State Department tweet.
“All are investigated and worked on throughly.
“This is one more.”
He added: “Terrorism is a global threat and we all have to maximise security.
“We take all threats seriously.”
Police in Barcelona have confirmed they have made 14 arrests so far in their anti-terror operation dubbed Operation Alexandria. At least one lawyer wants to see if defendant Mehdi Nemmouche sheds more light on such links during his trial that opened last Thursday for the May 24, 2014 museum shooting spree.
The first opportunity may come on Tuesday when Nemmouche begins testifying in his defence in a Brussels criminal court.
Guillaume Lys, the lawyer for the French Association of Victims of Terrorism (AFVT), hopes his cross-examination may yield more detail about the November 13, 2015 Paris attacks.
“Our goal is to be able to have more information about the links between these people and others whom we know and who committed other acts,” said Lys, who represents a civil party in the trial.

Weeks before the Jewish museum attack, Nemmouche was in regular telephone contact with Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the presumed mastermind of the Paris attacks that killed 130 people and wounded hundreds more.
Abaaoud was killed in a police shootout days after those attacks.
The calls took place in January 2014, when Nemmouche had just left Syria and was preparing to travel to southeast Asia via Turkey.
His trip would take in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand. The two men are believed to have fought together in Syria in 2013.
– Salah Abdeslam –
When the Brussels suicide bombings killed 32 people and wounded hundreds on March 22, 2016, both Nemmouche and Paris attacks suspect Salah Abdeslam were in the same prison in the Belgian city of Bruges.
Abdeslam had been arrested in Brussels just days before after being on the run since the Paris massacre several months earlier.
Belgian investigators in the prison on the day of the bombings heard the two men talk to each other with voices raised as their cells were not next to each other.
Nemmouche told Abdeslam that a “Brahim” and a “Sofian” had died in the bombings at Zaventem Airport, the main international airport outside Brussels.
For investigators, these first names correspond to those of the airport suicide bombers Ibrahim El Bakraoui and Najim Laachraoui, also known as Soufiane Kayal.
This information suggested to investigators that the pair knew the attackers.

Nemmouche shared other links with Najim Laachraoui, who was also believed to be one of the bomb makers for the Paris attacks.
Four French journalists have identified the two as among their jailers after they were kidnapped in Syria in June 2013 and released on April 18, 2014.
Investigators also found an audio file attributed to Laachraoui from a computer seized near an alleged hideout of the Brussels bombers. It was believed he recorded it in February or March 2016.
The Belgian jihadist was heard suggesting kidnapping celebrities in order to exchange them for “brothers” in prison, including Nemmouche.

The kidnapped French journalists also identified as another of their jailers Salim Benghalem, a French jihadist leader who was believed to have been killed in Syria at the end of 2017.
France’s Le Monde newspaper said he had duties that were more important than those of Nemmouche as he was suspected of having played a key role in dispatching jihadists from France.
In France, Benghalem gravitated toward the “Buttes-Chaumont” jihadist network, named after a park in Paris.
There he reportedly met the Kouachi brothers, who carried out the January 7, 2015 attack against the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo, killing 12 people.
He also met Amedy Coulibaly, the man who the next day murdered a female police officer before killing four people at a Kosher supermarket in Paris on January 9.”

The body of the German pensioner was discovered on Saturday morning in a cellar in Jena-Winzerla with police believing the woman had been murdered. An arrest warrant was drawn up on Sunday evening with police managing to arrest the 23-year-old Afghan migrant, a neighbour of the woman according to Thüringer Allgemeine.
Police spokesman Patrick Martin commented on the case to German tabloid Bild, saying: “The way in which the woman died is currently being determined in one section. Also, it must be clarified whether and what involvement the suspect had in the homicidal offence.”
The 87-year-old had been missing for two days prior to the discovery of her body as her relatives had previously turned to the police for help in finding her.
The alleged murder comes after several other cases in Germany in which asylum seekers have both abused and murdered elderly individuals, including a case in January of 2017 in which a 27-year old born in Saudi Arabia killed a 70-year-old woman in the town of Bad Friedrichshall-Untergriesheim.
The asylum seeker, who claimed to be from Pakistan, was believed by the prosecution to have killed the woman because he believed she was an “infidel.” He was later found guilty and sentenced to life in prison, despite requesting the death penalty.
Later that same year, a Somali asylum seeker was arrested in the town of Neuenhaus after being accused of sexually abusing several seniors and murdering another after breaking into a care home for the elderly.
The 18-year-old Somalian was said to have sexually abused two male residents of the care home and when confronted by the 87-year-old wife of one of the victims, he brutally beat her which led to her death.”

The five suspected of being part of an extremist cell were originally from Algeria, Buch told reporters.
“They were determined about carrying out an attack, but they didn’t have the capacity for it,” he said.

Shortly after the year began we looked at a report out of China where one of their very anti-American admirals had said that China might need to sink a couple of our aircraft carriers just to put us in our place. The guy is known for his hawkish hyperbole, so it didn’t seem that our government was taking him too seriously. But at the same time, the Chinese government didn’t exactly move to disavow his comments either. They’re referring to it as a “bloody nose” strategy, suggesting that if they hit us hard enough on the first shot we’ll turn tail and run. No credible experts seem to expect it to happen, but it was a situation worth monitoring at least.
We weren’t the only ones who noticed the admiral’s remarks. Some other experts in military affairs have begun weighing in on the subject. The majority of observers thus far appear to agree that a massive missile strike on an American carrier group in the South China Sea actually might be able to sink (or at least severely damage) one of our bird farms. Richard: <if they set it up properly This is the tricky part, just sinking one or two Carriers wouldn’t cause the US to run unless someone like Obama or one of the Clintons was in office, unless world events in other locations were even more dangerous. The attack on our ships in international waters (even if China says those waters are theirs alone) is an act of war that would allow retaliation of any proportion we decide. The trick on our side would be to make China bleed without pushing them to use nukes. Destroying their Navy and all naval bases would probably do this as long as we don’t move too far inland in our destruction.
If the Chinese do attack like this and there is no other international crisis demanding our attenton we will be forced to respons with military force of the US will loose all credibility in dealing with other nations. Weidel and Gauland both condemned the decision while speaking at a press conference during the fraction hearing meeting at the Bundestag.
“It is absolutely clear that we consider this decision of the Federal Intelligence Service wrong. We will take legal steps against this decision,” said Gauland.
Alice Weidel in turn called the surveillance a “distortion” of political competition.
“The fact that they made this public today is with the intention to hurt us politically and we will defend ourselves against this,” Hartwig added.
The Intelligence Service is set to monitor the party for the cases of political extremism.

Macron sparks new outrage with comments launching ‘national debate’
President Emmanuel Macron’s hopes to quell the economic anger of Yellow Vest protesters by announcing a national debate ran aground on Tuesday when he sparked new outrage by saying some of those struggling economically were just “screwing up”.
Macron had planned to try to quell a rising tide of economic anger with a speech in Normandy announcing a round of public gatherings that would form a “grand national debate” on the issues facing France, from tax reform to green energy.
But instead he sparked an immediate backlash while on a surprise visit to the town of Gasny by seeming to suggest that many of those struggling economically had only themselves to blame.
Even as the French president expressed his desire to help people in “difficult economic circumstances” by making them “more responsible”, he mused that while some were “doing the right thing” others were just “screwing up”.
His sentiments, as well as the vulgar expression he used in French, sparked immediate reactions on social media from politicians on both the left and the right.
Socialist politician Olivier Faure was one of the first to fire back.
”I want to answer the president: There are rich people who are good citizens and rich people who screw up, and who seriously screw up,” he told Reuters. “This way of always … [suggesting] that it is the poorest who are committing the abuses cannot be countenanced.”
MP Daniel Fasquelle of the right-wing Les Républicains party tweeted:
“Mr. #Macron launches the grand debate by targeting troubled French people who are ‘screwing up’. How can we unite and appease the country if we continue to stigmatise and set the French against each other? This requires a change of policy but also of attitude on the part of [those in] power.”

Macron had already unleashed a fresh wave of indignation on Friday, when he said that too many French citizens “think they can get things without making an effort”.
The 41-year-old centrist has made a series of comments perceived by many French as arrogant and out of touch, including when he told a jobless man that all he had to do was “cross the street” to find work.
France has had an unemployment rate hovering near 10 percent for most of the past decade.
A former Rothschild investment banker, critics have slammed Macron as “the president of the rich”.
Macron had hoped that by introducing a more inclusive, participatory style of governing he could take some of the anger out of the Yellow Vest movement. In an open letter to the French citizenry on Sunday, Macron listed 35 questions to be put to a “grand national debate” and said he hoped as many citizens as possible would participate in town hall-style gatherings across the country.
“We won’t agree on everything, that’s normal, that’s democracy,” he said in his letter. “But at least we’ll show we are a people who are not afraid to talk, exchange and debate.”
The meeting in Grand Bourgtheroulde kicked off two months of public consultations in towns and villages across the country on four main themes: taxation, France’s transition to a low-carbon economy, democracy and citizenship, and the functioning of the state and public services.
Following the two-month debate Macron said he would come up with a “new contract for the nation”.
Security was tight for his visit to Grand Bourgtheroulde, a town of 3,500 people that lies about 30 kilometres from the city of Rouen and where a Yellow Vest demonstration ended in clashes with police on Saturday.
Many Yellow Vests and opposition politicians have reacted sceptically to Macron’s initiative, however, calling it a smoke-and-mirrors attempt to sap the strength of their movement.
They cite the Macron government’s refusal to consider bringing back a controversial “wealth tax” on high earners as proof that it has already decided the outcome of the dialogue.
Analysts and many in Macron’s own party fear the public consultations will spur a cascade of nebulous demands or calls for the repeal of longstanding laws, such as those that abolished the death penalty or allowed gay marriage.
An Elabe poll released Tuesday showed the French feel lukewarm about the national debate, with 40 percent saying they intend to participate but 66 percent saying they did not think it would end the Yellow Vest unrest.
The task of organising the forums has fallen to local government minister Sébastien Lecornu and junior environment minister Emmanuelle Wargon. Five independent auditors will be appointed to ensure the debates remain free of government interference.
The Yellow Vest protests began in mid-November over a proposed fuel tax increase that would have unfairly penalised farmers and rural or small-town inhabitants who depend on their cars for transport. Since then they have grown into a broader push to tackle income inequality and give citizens more of a say in government decision-making, including calls for introducing citizen-sponsored referendums.

Launching national debate, Macron makes another faux pas about the poor
– France’s Emmanuel Macron began a national debate on Tuesday meant to calm protests against high living costs, but he may have started on the wrong foot by suggesting some poor people were “screwing” with the system.
The president paid a surprise visit to a village in Normandy on his way to what was the first of thousands of debates that officials across the country will hold in an effort to quell “yellow vest” protests that have wrought havoc nationwide.
Under pressure to appear more humble after previous sharp remarks, Macron nonetheless infuriated critics with comments they said were disparaging to the poor.
“For people who are struggling, we will make them more aware of their responsibilities, because some of them are behaving properly, while others are screwing about,” Macron told local councillors in the village of Gasny.
Macron struck a more appeasing tone in the town hall meeting, saying the yellow-vest movement was an opportunity for the country and conceding he should adopt a more inclusive governing style. But political rivals said the damage was done.
“This remark will shock the French, it is unacceptable. The president should not speak this way,” Daniel Fasquelle, a lawmaker for the conservative Republicans party told Reuters.
Olivier Faure, the head of the Socialist party, said: “The way he always bowls the same ball and suggests the poor are milking the system is unbearable.”
It is the second time in two weeks Macron has been accused of adding fuel to the fire. On Friday, he said too many French people thought “one can get something without any effort”.
The debate with 600 mayors in the town of Grand-Bourgtheroulde was the first of a two-month “great debate” – a series of town hall meetings for local people to air their views.
Asked by one mayor whether he regretted some of his remarks, citing his comment about how unemployed people can often just “cross the road” to get a job, Macron replied: “That’s how I am, I’m not going to change.”

New Migrant Caravan Heading to United States
Between 600 and 800 migrants gathered in Honduras yesterday where they formed a caravan and began making their way to the United States.
The caravan left the city of San Pedro Sula in the early morning, and as they walked, according to AP, some migrants were pleading with store owners for food and water for their journey.
Many of the migrants interviewed by Reuters seem to be looking for work. Twenty four-year-old caravan member Darwin Perez told the publication, “I’m determined to find a good job in the United States. It’s a difficult road ahead but I hope President Trump’s heart might soften, and that he won’t be so hard and will let us enter.”
Reuters writes, “Other migrants, some traveling with spouses and children, echoed Perez’s dream to find work in the United States.”
President Trump has responded to the latest caravan on Twitter, writing, “A big new Caravan is heading up to our Southern Border from Honduras. Tell Nancy and Chuck that a drone flying around will not stop them. Only a Wall will work. Only a Wall, or Steel Barrier, will keep our Country safe! Stop playing political games and end the Shutdown!”
He also wrote that public opinion that there is a border crisis is continuing to rise, tweeting, “Polls are now showing that people are beginning to understand the Humanitarian Crisis and Crime at the Border. Numbers are going up fast, over 50%. Democrats will soon be known as the Party of Crime. Ridiculous that they don’t want Border Security!”

Failed Georgia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams said she would be open to non-citizens voting in certain local elections and in some cases, even allowing 16-year-olds to vote.
When asked by host Margaret Hoover on PBS’ “Firing Line” what she thought of certain municipalities allowing non citizens to vote in local elections, Abrams replied, “I think there’s a difference between municipal and state and federal. The granularity of what cities decide is so specific, as to, I think, allow for people to be participants in the process without it somehow undermining our larger democratic ethic that says that you should be a citizen to be a part of the conversation.”

A Palestinian mother of three has accused the Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces of torturing her and threatening to rape her during the two months she was held in a PA prison in the West Bank.
The accusation by the woman, Suha Jbara, 31, came on the eve of PA President Mahmoud Abbas’s visit to New York, where he is scheduled to assume the chairmanship of the largest bloc of developing countries in the United Nations, known as the “Group of 77 and China.”
As chairman of the group, which represents 134 nations, Abbas and the “State of Palestine” will negotiate and co-sponsor proposals and amendments on various developmental, humanitarian and legal issues that are on the agenda of the UN.
On January 11, Jbara, who was released last week from detention, held a press conference in Ramallah in which she detailed the various methods of torture she experienced at the hands of her Palestinian interrogators. Her horrific experience, however, does not seem to be on the agenda of the UN or the Group of 77 and China, headed by Abbas. Apparently, the UN group’s members, who voted in favor of naming the “State of Palestine” as chairman of the group, do not care much about the human rights record of the PA security forces in the West Bank.

Shortly after President Donald Trump’s controversial decision to pull out U.S. troops from Syria, a move that exorbitantly pleased Turkey, Russia and Iran, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an, in a charm offensive, wrote an op-ed piece for the New York Times, entitled, “Trump Is Right on Syria. Turkey Can Get the Job Done.”
Turkey, Erdo?an claims, is the only country with the power and commitment to perform that task of protecting the interests of the United States, the international community and the Syrian people.
This claim is grossly wrong. Despite some convergences, Turkey’s interests in the Syrian theater are widely different than those of the Western bloc of countries. Turkey’s ambitions over the future of Syria are largely sectarian (pro-Sunni) and, therefore, a good recipe for further violence in civil war-torn Syria and the potential slaughter of the Kurds, a job Turkey can get done.
It is true, as Erdo?an reminded the world, that in 2016 Turkey became the first country to deploy ground combat troops to fight the so-called Islamic State (ISIS) in Syria: “Our military incursion severed the group’s access to NATO’s borders and impeded their ability to carry out terror attacks in Turkey and Europe.”

Twitter Warns Conservative Author His Book Violates Pakistan Law
Social media giant faithfully does Pakistan’s Sharia bidding.
Twitter is warning it may censor content by Western users that the social media giant deems a violation of Pakistan law.
Russian-born Frontpagemag.com editor Jamie Glazov explained the situation on The Glazov Gang, an online talk show.
“Ladies and gentlemen, a very interesting world we’re entering now. Twitter has recently warned me that a post on my new book, ‘Jihadist Psychopath: How He Is Charming, Seducing, and Devouring Us,’ is in violation of a section of Pakistan’s penal code connected to Islamic blasphemy law,” Glazov said.
“Now Twitter told me it has not taken any action, for now. Phew,” he said. “They’re only writing to inform me, for now.”
Glazov explained that the alleged violations carry a potential sentence of life in prison or death, and he joked about canceling his book tour and planned vacation to the Middle Eastern country. Glazov also put the situation into broader perspective.
