  2. Syria conflict: Trump’s withdrawal plan shocks allies (BBC, Dec 20, 2018)
    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-46628811

“President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw all US troops from Syria has been met with heavy criticism.

Mr Trump made the announcement on Wednesday, asserting that the Islamic State (IS) group had been defeated.

But major allies, including senior Republicans and foreign powers, have disputed the claim and say the move could lead to a resurgence of IS.

US troops have helped rid much of Syria’s north-east of the jihadist group, but pockets of fighters remain.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, who is one of Mr Trump’s supporters, called the withdrawal decision a “huge Obama-like mistake”.

And the UK government pushed back on the president’s assurance that IS had now been defeated.

The Pentagon said it was transitioning to the “next phase of the campaign” to eliminate IS but did not provide further details.

President Trump, who has long promised to pull American troops out of Syria, said on Twitter that it was time to bring them home after their “historic victories”.

    What has the reaction been?
Senator Graham, who sits on the armed services committee, warned that the withdrawal would have “devastating consequences” both in Syria and beyond.

He said that he feared it would mean ceding influence in the region to Russia and Iran.

“An American withdrawal at this time would be a big win for ISIS [IS], Iran, Bashar al-Assad of Syria, and Russia,” he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the UK government distanced itself from President Trump’s assertion that IS had now been defeated.

“Much remains to be done and we must not lose sight of the threat they pose,” a statement from the Foreign Office said.

Israel said it had been told the US had “other ways to have influence in the area” but would “study the timeline [of the withdrawal], how it will be done and of course the implications for us”.

Striking a different tone, Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the US decision could result in “genuine, real prospects for a political settlement” in Syria.

    US allies concerned
By James Robbins, diplomatic correspondent, BBC News

The British government is stopping just short – at least in public – of condemning President Trump’s decision to pull US forces out of Syria.

It said that IS remains a threat despite the “important advances” that have been made in recent days.

In Syria, Kurdish forces fighting IS feel abandoned, just as Turkey is vowing to step up attacks against the Kurds.

And the most powerful allies of Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad, Russia and Iran, are pleased by the decision.

They hope it will mean they can increase their power in Syria and beyond.

Some 2,000 US troops have largely been stationed in the Kurdish region in northern Syria.

A partnership with an alliance of Syrian Kurdish and Arab fighters, known as the Syrian Democratic Forces, is credited with playing a major role in the virtual elimination of IS after it overran large swathes of Syria four years ago.

However, the militant group has not disappeared entirely.

A recent US report said there were still as many as 14,000 IS militants in Syria and even more in neighbouring Iraq – and there is a fear they will shift to guerrilla tactics in an attempt to rebuild their network.

But the partnership between the US and the Kurds has enraged neighbouring Turkey, which views the Kurdish YPG militia – the main fighting force in the SDF – as an extension of a banned Kurdish group fighting for autonomy in Turkey.

On Monday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said his country might soon start a new military operation against the YPG in Syria.

Mr Erdogan added that he had discussed his plan with Mr Trump by telephone and that he had given a “positive response”.”

    • ISIS has NOT been wiped out, France says as it announces troops will stay in Syria (express, Dec 20, 2018)
      https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1061713/isis-news-latest-trump-france-usa-syria-troops-macron-islamic-state-terrorists

“France will keep its troops in northern Syria for now because Islamic State militants have not been wiped out and continue to pose a threat to French interests, officials said. France is a leading member of the US-led coalition fighting militants in Syria and Iraq and has around 1,000 troops including special forces based in the north of the country, deployed alongside local Kurdish and Arab forces.

French diplomats said on Wednesday that US President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw all its 2,000 troops from the region had taken Paris by surprise.

US officials justified the decision by saying Islamic State had been entirely defeated.

“It shows that we can have different priorities and that we must count on ourselves first,” Europe Minister Nathalie Loiseau told C-News television.

“For now, of course we are staying in Syria because the fight against Islamic State is essential.”

France is especially sensitive to the Islamic State threat after several major attacks on its soil in recent years.

Hundreds of French nationals have joined the group in Syria.

Defence Minister Florence Parly acknowledged on Twitter that the militant group had been weakened and lost some 90 percent of its territory, but said the battle was not over.

“Islamic State has not been wiped from the map nor have its roots. The last pockets of this terrorist organisation must be defeated militarily once and for all,” she said.

President Emmanuel Macron spoke with Trump on Wednesday, diplomats said. In April, when President Trump previously announced a US withdrawal, President Macron persuaded the US leader that Washington should stay engaged by citing the threat of Iran in the region…”

  3. The recent double murder in Morocco is terror-related. Apparently the three attackers, who are affiliated with ISIS, filmed the act. The video is floating around on social media:

What!?! Not one Mohammad in the lot of them!?!

[gasps, clutches at chest, and woozily returns to consciousness]

Next befuddling question: If these three Marrakeshis were total newcomers to the area, why didn’t the villagers of Imlil become suspicious (as most rural types usually do) well before the killings occurred? If the trio weren’t such Johnny-come-latelys then what portion of culpability falls upon Imil’s inhabitants due to their willful participation in concealing such a presence?

Equally conspicuous is how, after the fact, these murdering jihadis managed to avoid a mob of “quite put out” locals. Especially when Marrakech is over thirty miles away and these ISIS swine were supposedly out of their element.

Or were they? This is just one aspect of dealing with inbred, semi-retarded, violence prone Muslims. It’s all, “kill the filthy Infididel” until, suddenly, oops! There goes the village’s whole tourist economy and only then do the denizens get all hot and bothered, but not one second before.

Imagine how much better off Imil would be today had its residents taken these murderous scumbags aside, determined that they were Muslim-killing ISIS types, and then acted accordingly.

And, as Old Bill would say, “therein lies the rub”. As ever, Muslims want everything both ways. Murder the kaffir? Just fine, but only so long as it does not disrupt their own livelihood, eh?

See the contradiction here? If anything, these are “cafeteria Muslims” (like so many others seem to be) who are all pro-jihad up and until the minute where it cramps their immediate lifestyle. They’ll pass the ammunition all day long but perish the thought of actually strapping on a bomb vest. It never seems to occur to them that their lives of perpetual poverty are, in fact, a direct result and intention of Islamic doctrine.

Similarly rare is any genuine realization by Muslims that, much like with many organized criminal syndicates*, there’s only one way out—usually feet first.

      * You say mafia, I say mafiya. I say mafiya, you say mafia. Mafia, mafiya. Mafiya, mafia. Let’s call the whole thing off!

There even are those among the ulema who believe that prosperity is bad for Islam. Writer, Austin Cline, addressed this back in 2003:

People have argued that the al Qaeda attacks on America were due to the fact that Islamic extremists hate American democracy and freedom; many on the left ridiculed this argument and there is a good argument for the idea that much more is involved here. On the other hand, there is excellent evidence for the idea that a hatred of democracy and freedom is an important motivating force.

This view was recently supported by a new book, “The Future of Iraq and The Arabian Peninsula After The Fall of Baghdad,” just published by al Qaeda in several Arab countries. The author, Yussuf al-Ayyeri [now deceased], has been one of Osama bin Laden’s closest associates for a long time. The New York Post reports:

“It is not the American war machine that should be of the utmost concern to Muslims. What threatens the future of Islam, in fact its very survival, is American democracy.” … Al-Ayyeri argues that the history of mankind is the story of “perpetual war between belief and unbelief.” Over the millennia, both have appeared in different guises. As far as belief is concerned, the absolutely final version is represented by Islam, which “annuls all other religions and creeds.” Thus, Muslims can have only one goal: converting all humanity to Islam and “effacing the final traces of all other religions, creeds and ideologies.”

What Al-Ayyeri sees now is a “clean battlefield” in which Islam faces a new form of unbelief. This, he labels “secularist democracy.” This threat is “far more dangerous to Islam” than all its predecessors combined. The reasons, he explains in a whole chapter, must be sought in democracy’s “seductive capacities.” This form of “unbelief” persuades the people that they are in charge of their destiny and that, using their collective reasoning, they can shape policies and pass laws as they see fit. That leads them into ignoring the “unalterable laws” promulgated by God for the whole of mankind, and codified in the Islamic shariah (jurisprudence) until the end of time.

The goal of democracy, according to Al-Ayyeri, is to “make Muslims love this world, forget the next world and abandon jihad .” If established in any Muslim country for a reasonably long time, democracy could lead to economic prosperity, which, in turn, would make Muslims “reluctant to die in martyrdom” in defense of their faith.

So, whenever you pause to wonder why Islam is multidimensionally retarded (e.g., spiritually, genetically, intellectually, sexually, emotionally, culturally, technologically, scientifically, and so on ad nauseum), look no further than highly influential (and coercive) individuals like (the thankfully, now dead) al-Ayyeri.

Read those last last two or three quoted paragraphs again. They are the storyboard for Islam, past, present, and future. It also limns out our own collective fate if the West does not immediately begin scraping away militant Islam’s higher echelons (clerical, financial, scholastic, and political) like so much toilet bowl “rust”. Capping battlefield leadership is just fine but the real terrorist movers and shakers rarely leave their mosques, madrassas, or offices and must be hounded in their respective lairs. Wait any longer to do this and each day brings Western Civilization that much closer to nuclear terrorism.

When assessing Islam’s willingness to implement nuclear jihad, you can bet your last cent that the only reason why a few American (or European) cities have not already been vaporized is solely due to issues of acquisition and NOT any lack of intent. How Pakistan has managed to avoid any hijacking of its own wretchedly insecure nuclear arsenal remains a mystery for the ages.

Now, let’s all take a step back and reconsider these things. For instance, if prosperity is so bad for Islam, isn’t it rather impolite of the West to thrust upon Muslims what we otherwise perceive as profound benisons? Wouldn’t it be far better for us to stop interfering with the MME’s downward swirl in their porcelain receptacle of Neanderthalism, destitution, water poverty, and food insecurity?

It’s much the same with regard to all these jihadis. If their cherished goal is the attaining of paradise, isn’t it a bit churlish for us to deny them their most fervent desire? Be it poverty or paradisaical ascent, Islam’s prayers deserve to be answered with alacrity by an all-too-often torpid, appeasing and compliant West.

      • I agree. I was thinking about the villagers who had to have seen them.
They also had to have seen two young, pretty blonde girls traveling on their own. Definitely Haram.

  4. Germany: A Muslim woman goes crazy because of washing instructions+++
When the Muslim woman Zeynep Can wanted to wash the spitting towels for her son, she took a look at the washing instructions. After reading the washing instructions, she was as stunned as she was upset. Her lawyer is now taking action.A month ago Can bought the towel at “Babies ‘R’ Us” – a company of the Toys ”R’ Us’ group – in Derendorf. When she wanted to wash her son’s drool towel, the Muslim woman took a look at the washing instructions. There you can read: “As this substance properties, the muslim would first shrink”. “That must not happen to such a company. I feel insulted. That hurts my faith,” the humourless Muslim woman told the Bild newspaper. Shocked by so little “cultural sensitivity”, Can immediately contacted her lawyer. “My client instructed me to file a criminal complaint with the public prosecutor’s office. And in particular because of the suspicion of insulting a religious community according to § 166 StGB”.The question remains, how could something so unbelievable happen? Conjecture: Apparently in the translation the word “muslin” (a cotton-like material) became the word “muslim”. We may wait for the kowtow and an islam submissive apology from the company.

  5. ISIS 2.0 RISING: Interpol sends SHOCK warning to world of SECOND WAVE of Islamic terror (express, Dec 20, 2018)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1061425/isis-terrorists-interpol-chief-j-rgen-stock-warning-jailed-jihadists

“THE WORLD could be targeted in a fresh wave of deadly terror attacks as jailed jihadists are released from prison and battle-hardened ISIS fighters make their way home from Middle Eastern war zones in a second wave of terror, Interpol’s top official has warned.

Jürgen Stock said terrorist sympathisers handed two to five year jailed terms would soon be coming to the end of their sentences and could pose a new threat across Europe once freed. The Interpol general secretary said: “We could soon be facing a second wave of other ISIS-linked or radicalised individuals that you might call ISIS 2.0. “A lot of these are suspected terrorists or those who are linked to terrorist groups as supporters who are facing maybe two to five years in jail.”

Mr Stock continued: “Because they were not convicted of a concrete terrorist attack but only support for terrorist activities, their sentences are perhaps not so heavy.

“In many parts of the world, in Europe but also Asia, this generation of early supporters will be released in the next couple of years, and they may again be part of a terrorist group or those supporting terrorist activities.

“We know that radicalisation takes place in prison and the very recent attack in Strasbourg, France, is another example.”

Europe has suffered a spate of deadly Islamist-linked terror attacks since 2014 with ISIS extremists killing hundreds in atrocities in cities such as London, Manchester, Paris, Nice, Berlin, Brussels and Barcelona.

British security chiefs say the threat to the UK from international terrorism remains “severe”, meaning an attack is highly likely…”

    • Two to five years?? Then it must be a deliberate plan by “our” governments for these ******* to be out and about amongst us and doing what they’re best at.

  6. Sweden terror: Explosion at school sparks terror probe, children flee deliberate blast (express, Dec 20, 2018)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1061700/sweden-terror-attack-school-bomb-explosion-H-ssleholm-Technical-School

“A SWEDISH school has been evacuated following an explosion forcing children to flee and police have arrested a suspected perpetrator.

The explosion occurred shortly after the school day at Hässleholm Technical School began. The school is being investigated by the national bombing experts. Initially the police were investigating he incident as “ongoing fatal violence” but nobody was injured.

The school has about 1,000 students and is the area’s largest senior school, it is not known how many people were at the school at the time of the evacuation.

The noise made by the explosion have been described as ‘powerful’.

The pupils have been evacuated to the dome, a large gathering arena in Hässleholm.

Police arrived at 8:45am and were directed to the school’s basement where the explosion took place.

Swedish STV reporter Mikael Nilsson said some of the students have been shaken by the incident.

He said: “They are relatively ok but clearly shaken over the event. They come to school on a regular day, the school has just begun.

“Then a powerful explosion is heard and the school is surrounded by armed police, rescue and ambulances. It is clear that it makes its mark.”

The police have have said they are not sure if it was a terrorist attack.

Police spokesman Per Cederholm said: “Now we will scan the premises and the place where the perpetrator has been.”

Eva Andersson, Head of Children and Education Administration in Hässleholm, spoke of her sadness at the attack.

She said: “We are just at the end of the semester.

“That someone wants to go in and destroy or put our students in some form of danger feels terrible.””

  7. ‘Beyond Belief’: Swedish Capital City Turns a Blind Eye to Daesh Returnees (sputniknews, Dec 20, 2018)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201812201070852357-sweden-daesh-returnees/

“Since 2012, 300 people have travelled from Sweden to Syria and Iraq to join Daesh* and other terrorist groups. About 150 of these jihadists (sometimes referred to as “fighters” in the Swedish media) have since returned to Sweden and are keeping a low profile.

The city of Stockholm does not keep track of Daesh returnees who have come back to the capital city after fighting for the terrorist cause in Syria and Iraq, national broadcaster SVT reported.

About half of the 300 jihadists Sweden has produced in recent years are estimated to have returned to Sweden from the Middle East, SVT reported citing Sweden’s Security Service (Säpo). Of them, up to 40 have returned to Stockholm, whereas others have returned to Gothenburg, Örebro, Malmö and Borås. However, the Stockholm municipality hasn’t contacted a single one of them, despite there being a plan against violent extremism in place since 2016.

PO Hellqvist, a former Säpo chief in Gothenburg, who now works with the police to extinguish violent extremism, found this development “beyond belief”.

“This can’t be good. The authorities need to know who these individuals are, and there are several reasons to do so. In part, these individuals can be dangerous to society, and some may also need help in order not to become a threat”, PO Hellqvist told SVT.

According to SVT, these returnees cannot be brought to justice under the current legislation. However, they can still be a threat and carry on the ideology that spurred them into leaving Sweden in the first place.

“They still carry this mindset. They have violence in mind and can resort to violence in the future. Whether it happens within a week, a fortnight or longer, we don’t know”, PO Hellqvist said, stressing that while in Syria and Iraq, they may have participated in battles and learned how to handle weapons and explosives.

This week, SVT published a series of clips from the Middle East reportedly showing jihadists’ life under Daesh. In the clips, children as young as three and five years old watch their parents shoot an automatic rifle and brag about killing the “unfaithful”.

In the clips, everyone speaks Swedish, and entire families are participating. One of the scenes shows a niqab-clad woman shooting outside of Syria’s Aleppo. “Let’s watch Mommy do jihad”, the woman behind the camera says.

In another scene, a boy gives tips to his father on how to handle his automatic weapon. “Dad, you shouldn’t shoot ‘drrr’, you should go ‘ta-ta-ta’, otherwise the ammunition will end”.

According to PO Hellqvist, authorities should maintain better contact with residents of the so-called vulnerable areas, which he called hotspots of extremism.

“This is fertile ground for this sort of thing, particularly in vulnerable suburbs, and there is a power struggle between various religious groups. We also see how they try to target young people in this sensitive age”, Hellqvist said. “Bureaucrats must leave their offices and simply meet people”, he concluded.

Although travelling to Syria and Iraq has all but dried up over the last several years, Säpo estimates the number of Islamists in Sweden has increased sharply. In 2010, there were 200 Islamist extremists in Sweden. In recent years, the figure has grown exponentially to 2,000.”

  8. Thousands protest economic hardship in Sudan (abcnews, Dec 20, 2018)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/thousands-protest-economic-hardship-sudan-59926167

“Thousands have taken to the streets in several Sudanese towns to protest economic hardship, especially higher bread prices, with a mob in the northern city of Atbara torching the ruling party’s offices, activists said Thursday.

Photos and video clips posted by the activists on social media purported to show police and army troops standing by as the protests unfolded Wednesday.

A video clip obtained by The Associated Press late Wednesday showed the headquarters of President Omar Bashir’s National Congress Party in Atbara engulfed in flames. Vehicles parked outside were also torched.

Protests broke out in the Red Sea city of Port Sudan, Barbar in the north and Nohoud in the western Kordofan region. There were no reports of clashes with security forces.

The protests coincided with the return to Sudan of opposition leader Sadeq al-Mahdi, the country’s last freely elected leader, whose government was overthrown in a 1989 military coup led by Bashir. Al-Mahdi was living in self-imposed exile outside Sudan for nearly a year. Thousands of his supporters welcomed him home on Wednesday.

Lawmakers loyal to Bashir are rallying support to amend the constitution to allow the Sudanese leader to run for re-election in 2020.

Sudan’s economy has struggled for most of the nearly three decades Bashir has been in power. The situation has rapidly deteriorated since the secession of the south of the country in 2011, which deprived Khartoum of the oilfields there.

In the hope of securing aid and investments, Bashir has in recent years moved closer to oil-rich Gulf Arab nations, especially Saudi Arabia. He has deployed Sudanese troops in Yemen to fight alongside a Saudi-led coalition backing the government there against Iran-aligned rebels.”

  9. Spain finds 11 dead migrants, 33 rescued from boat (abcnews, Dec 20, 2018)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/spain-finds-11-dead-migrants-33-rescued-boat-59926168

“Spain’s Maritime Rescue Service on Thursday found 11 dead migrants in a boat off the country’s southern coast and rescued 33 other passengers, one of whom later also died.

All of the migrants were from sub-Saharan Africa, a spokeswoman with the service told The Associated Press. A tweet sent Thursday by the Spanish Red Cross said that two women, one of them pregnant, were among those who died.

Rescuers had been looking for the boat about 11 miles (18 kilometers) south of the city of Almeria for two days, said the Maritime Rescue Service official, who was not authorized to be named in media reports.

A Spanish navy scientific research vessel found the drifting boat in the area, east of the Strait of Gibraltar, in the early hours of Thursday.

Twenty-nine men and four women were still alive on board, but one of the men later died in a hospital in Almeria.

The service said it’s also looking for three more boats in the so-called Alboran Sea, two of them carrying more than 55 migrants each.

According to the U.N., more than 61,500 migrants, who often flee violence or poverty, have arrived in Spain since the beginning of 2018, nearly 55,000 of them by sea.”

  10. Egypt says it killed 8 militants who planned holiday attacks (abcnews, Dec 20, 2018)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/egypt-killed-militants-planned-holiday-attacks-59926992

“Egypt says security forces have killed eight militants and detained four more who planned attacks on minority Christians during the upcoming holiday season.

In a Thursday statement, the Interior Ministry says the 12 belonged to “Hasm,” which it says is an armed faction of the Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist group removed from power in 2013.

It said two of the eight killed were separately shot dead after they opened fire on security forces storming two residences in Cairo. The remaining six were killed in a shootout as they tried to flee Cairo.

The Interior Ministry, which oversees the police, did not say when the events took place.

The Brotherhood’s Mohammed Morsi, Egypt’s first freely elected president, was overthrown by the military after his yearlong rule inspired mass protests.”

  11. Austrian Vice Chancellor Proposes Full Halt on Granting Turks Citizenship (breitbart, Dec 20, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/12/20/austrian-populist-leader-proposes-halt-granting-turks-citizenship/

“Austrian Vice Chancellor and leader of the populist Freedom Party (FPÖ) Heinz-Christian Strache has proposed halting all citizenship applications for Turks after a court ruling refused to let the government strip the citizenship of dual nationals.

Mr Strache said that due to the lack of cooperation from the Turkish government in identifying which Austrian residents also held Turkish citizenship, the Austrian government would be looking to halt all new citizenship ceremonies for Turks, Kronen Zeitung reports.

The move comes after a court ruling earlier this month which sided with a plaintiff who was set to have his Austrian citizenship revoked after being found on a Turkish electoral list which implied he was still a Turkish citizen.

The court ruled that the 2015 voter list used by the FPÖ to identify dual nationals was not completely reliable as the man, who had lived in Austria for 40 years and has had an Austrian passport since 1996, was able to prove he had renounced his citizenship.

The list was the main source of information for the cases against Turkish dual nationals as the FPÖ had previously promised to crack down on those with Turkish citizenships, as renouncing former citizenship is a requirement to gain Austrian citizenship, with few exceptions.

According to Vienna city councillor and member of the Social Democrats (SPÖ) Jürgen Czernohorszky, Vienna alone had a backlog of around 18,000 suspected cases of Turks with dual citizenship based on the 2015 voting list. He noted that in the coming days they would all be informed that the cases against them would be terminated as a result of the court ruling.

“With its findings, the Constitutional Court has clarified that the list submitted by the FPÖ is not suitable proof of the re-acquisition of Turkish citizenship. I am delighted that the Constitutional Court has ruled quickly in this situation, which is burdensome for the persons affected and which threatens their existence,” he said.

While Strache does not have support from the left on the issue, he may have support from his coalition partner, the Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP) led by Chancellor Sebastian Kurz.

ÖVP Government Coordinator Gernot Blümel said he had met with FPÖ Interior Minister Herbert Kickl on the subject and revealed they “now have all legal options involving the states to consider, this may also involve a suspension of the awarding of Austrian citizenship.”

Both Kurz and Strache have railed against some members of the Turkish community in Austria, particularly supporters of Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdo?an.

Following the failed coup attempt in Turkey in 2016 which saw Turks take to the streets of Vienna, Kurz told Turks they should be loyal to the countries in which they reside or were free to leave.

Earlier this year, following the Turkish national elections, Mr Strache echoed the remarks of Kurz, saying that anyone who voted for Erdo?an living in Austria “should return to Turkey.””

  12. Muslims in Europe Becoming Less Secular, More Radical as 80 Percent Now Identify as Religious (breitbart, Dec 20, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/12/20/secularism-muslims-europe-decline-80-percent-identify-religious/

“Professor emeritus of the University of Louvain, Felice Dassetto, has claimed the number of secular Muslims in Europe is in steep decline and more are becoming radicalised.

Professor Dassetto said the secular world and its values are becoming less attractive to contemporary Islam and that Muslims are turning toward more reactionary forms of the faith, Il Giornale reports.

“There is a bit of disaffection, but there is no mass abandonment of the faith, the phenomenon affects at most 10 to 15 percent,” Dassetto said, noting that at least 80 percent of Muslims across Europe now claimed to be religious.

Dassetto also noted that Friday prayers in various mosques were seeing more younger Muslims participate and noted that younger Muslims, particularly those in poorer areas, were far more prone to radicalisation.

“Salafism, more than the Muslim Brotherhood, is investing in the socialisation of children and women,” he noted, and added that radical Salafists were using materials to “promote a soft Salafism ” centred around the needs of the community and poor which he warned could entice and radicalise young people.

On the topic of integration, Dassetto said that it was failing despite repeated attempts by governments, saying: “studies say that even the third and fourth generation youngsters, the children of parents born here, they maintain a certain hesitation about their belonging.”

The professor’s comments echo those of scholar of radical Islam Professor Gilles Kepel, who has warned that without proper integration programmes countries in Europe could face the possibility of civil conflict.

In an exclusive interview with Breitbart London, Kepel suggested that for France the answer to the problem was for the government to help foster a French identity through the school system.

French sociologist Olivier Galland also warned earlier this year about the radicalisation and religious fervour among young Muslims, revealing the results of a survey he had conducted that showed 20 percent of Muslim students advocated religious violence.”

    • Muslims in Europe Becoming Less Secular, More Radical as 80 Percent Now Identify as Religious

Think of this de-secularizing process as if it were some sort of already lit fuse.

The closer European Muslims get to full de-secularization, the nearer that ever-dwindling length of detcord gets to Europe’s continental powder keg.

“The professor’s comments echo those of scholar of radical Islam Professor Gilles Kepel, who has warned that without proper integration programmes countries in Europe could face the possibility of civil conflict.”

What’s this unwarranted speculation about “could” tommyrot? It would require a deluge of Biblical proportions to dampen, much less extinguish, embers now aglow, buried deep in the drifts of parched litter and duff that have accumulated beneath the EUSSR’s overgrown forest of selectively enforced laws.

“… the results of a survey he had conducted that showed 20 percent of Muslim students advocated religious violence.”

However unreported upon, it’s a not-insignificant percentage which (with grim regularity), manifests all across Dar al-Harb—both statistically and as brutal conflicts spreading throughout nearly all Muslim cultures. Violence that constantly increases with alarming frequency and viciousness and, has (for several decades) been spilling over into an ill-fortified West.

Certain critical fuse lengths are approaching to where there’ll be no stopping an inevitable explosion. While quite indicative of what awaits, the Yellow Vests are but a small subset of Europe’s evermore-disgruntled indigenous population. Meanwhile—without exhibiting even mild concern about exactly what it is they’re wishing for—European Muslims are doing their level best to make all future outcomes on The Continent into zero-sum binary events.

Ugliness and unpleasantries await. All that’s in question is who survives.

    • One of the China Uncensored crew makes a very important point. The forced harvesting of organs for transplant is the logical conclusion of the Communist policies, they start out killing people and taking their belongings, now they are killing people and taking their organs. When you belong to the State the leaders of the state will see nothing wrong with killing you to seize your property and harvest your organs for sale. Given the way the leftist politicians in the West are acting how long befor they bring this evil into the Western Nations?

      • “The forced harvesting of organs for transplant is the logical conclusion of the Communist policies…”

When the state owns all property—be it public, material, intellectual or private—there is created a nightmarish colossus that transcends mere “eminent domain”.

This is the lockstep end phase of Socialism. Namely, a Nanny State on steroids—complete with “roid rage” (just ask any practitioner of Falun Gong*). In such a sociopolitical environment, it’s beyond foolish to even think that, somehow, your own vital organs magically remain “private property”.

        * Cordial relations and familiar friendships that can arise from regular group practice of Falun Gong may well be interpreted by the state as some sort of potential surrogate family, a threat of monumental proportions.

All of which beggars the question of when Mainland residents will finally twig to how Red China’s OFOC (One Family One Child) policy permanently fractures the covalent bonds of family and clan. This genetic disfiguring may well prove irreparable. Any uncertainty regarding long term disruptions posed by OFOC are only with respect to the exact double digit orders of magnitude involved. Some people even have argued that this fracturing was an integral feature that OFOC planners desired from the very beginning.

Just the reality of growing up without familial siblings represents a complete psychological reshaping (i.e., Social Engineering) which is only compounded by this emerging Chicom generation’s lack of even aunts, uncles or cousins. You are invited to do a search on “little emperors” and the “4–2–1 syndrome”.

Any avoidance of youthful loyalty being transferred to the state becomes impossible—at least in theory. The state IS your family. This stupendous overthrow of basic human instinct by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) represents a psychosocial coup of unimaginable proportions.

Unlike indigenous Europe’s torpid awakening to Socialism’s dangers, Chicom youth remain relatively well-contained in a controlled environment that would shame most orchid hothouses. Layer on bright and shiny new new CCP “social credit” policies and government intrusions skyrocket even further.

Without some sort of spectacular political discontinuity in the very near future, targets for Communist China’s current socioeconomic trajectory range from merely catastrophic all the way to a Balkanized Mainland permanently which (much like Russia) is forever incapable of recapturing its former glory.

  13. Turkey Promises to ‘Bury’ Kurds in New Syrian Ops Amid US Withdrawal – Reports (sputniknews, Dec 20, 2018)
    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201812201070863044-turkish-new-operation-euphrates/

“Previously, Turkey conducted two ops, “Olive Branch” and ” Euphrates Shield” in the Arab Republic in a bid to eliminate Kurdish forces there, allegedly tied to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), deemed a terrorist organisation by Ankara.

Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar has announced that the country is “intensely” preparing to launch another operation against Syrian Kurds, which will take place in Manbij, Aleppo Governorate, and to the east of the Euphrates, Turkish Anadolu Agency reported.

“[Kurds are] digging some trenches and tunnels in Manbij and east of the Euphrates. Whatever they dig, trenches or tunnels […] when the time comes they will be buried in the trenches that they dig. Of this there should be no doubt”, he said.

Akar’s words come following the US announcing on 19 December about the withdrawal of its troops from Syria, where they supported Kurdish groups, such as the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Overall some 2,000 US soldiers will be returning home within 100 days after US President Donald Trump announced the defeat of Daesh* forces in the Arab Republic.

Prior to this, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that a “counter-terrorist operation” east of the Euphrates could begin “at any moment”, vowing to prevent the creation of a “terror corridor” along the Turkish border.

Turkey has already conducted two operations on Syrian soil without Damascus’ consent — “Olive Branch” in Afrin District and “Euphrates Shield” in northern Aleppo Governorate, aiming to push out Kurds from northern Syria and create a buffer between them and Turkish border. As a result of these two operations, Turkey and Syrian militant groups clashed with Kurdish YPG, Free Syrian Army, and SDF forces, claiming some of their territories in Syria.

Turkey accuses Syrian Kurds of conducting terrorist activities along with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). Ankara is also battling Kurdish forces on Iraqi territory by conducting airstrikes on their positions without Baghdad’s permission. The latter condemned the latest Turkish airstrikes that took place on 14 and 15 December and reportedly led to a “loss of life and property”. Ankara in turn responded that it will utilise its “legitimate right to self-defence” and continue conducting airstrikes against Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) targets in Iraq.

Turkey has been fighting the PKK since the 1980s, when the group first demanded autonomy for Kurdish-populated territories. Ankara and the PKK reached a ceasefire in 2013 to fight the threat of Daesh*, but it was terminated in 2015, when the PKK accused Ankara of bombing its positions in Iraq, along with those of Daesh*.”

  14. N. Korea Says It Won’t Denuclearize Unless US Removes Threat

North Korea bluntly states it won’t unilaterally give up its nuclear weapons unless the United States removes its nuclear threat first.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korea said Thursday it will never unilaterally give up its nuclear weapons unless the United States first removes what Pyongyang called a nuclear threat. The surprisingly blunt statement jars with Seoul’s rosier presentation of the North Korean position and could rattle the fragile trilateral diplomacy to defuse a nuclear crisis that last year had many fearing war.

The latest from North Korea comes as the United States and North Korea struggle over the sequencing of the denuclearization that Washington wants and the removal of international sanctions desired by Pyongyang. The statement carried by the North’s official Korean Central News Agency also raises credibility problems for the liberal South Korean government, which has continuously claimed that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is genuinely interested in negotiating away his nuclear weapons as Seoul tries to sustain a positive atmosphere for dialogue.

The North’s comments may also be seen as proof of what outside skeptics have long said: that Kim will never voluntarily relinquish an arsenal he sees as a stronger guarantee of survival than whatever security assurances the United States might provide. The statement suggests North Korea will eventually demand the United States withdraw or significantly reduce the 28,500 American troops stationed in South Korea, a major sticking point in any disarmament deal.

Trump resets his strategic position with an announced Syria pull-out
    By J.E. Dyer December 20, 2018

One can’t pretend to think it’s a good idea, as national policy, to pull out of Syria right now – especially on the abrupt basis Trump outlined in a short video posted on social media on Wednesday.

    https://twitter.com/twitter/statuses/1075528854402256896

    Donald J. Trump
    ?
    @realDonaldTrump

After historic victories against ISIS, it’s time to bring our great young people home!

Letting Iran consolidate the land bridge to the Mediterranean – pretty much inevitable, with a U.S. pull-out – is as bad a move as ever. Twitching abruptly out of Syria may not leave the Kurds high and dry, precisely, but it does erode their position and its defensibility. The same goes for other forces in the anti-Assad Sunni coalition.

    https://libertyunyielding.com/2018/12/20/trump-resets-his-strategic-position-with-an-announced-syria-pull-out/

    • An Israeli delegation was in Russia some ten days ago to discuss Syria & Lebanon border. Talks went very well.

I’m certain Trump will not abandon the Kurds. He’ll help them through weapons, monitoring of Turkish positions, and whatever else.

      • I agree he won’t abandon them, and as JE says it will be interesting to see how he goes about resupplying them. To say nothing about how he will keep training them, although this could be done by a couple of A Teams on the quiet.

    • It is a different take then the knee jerk reaction of the people who are saying we are betraying our allies and setting the stage for chaos.

      What is it with people?!?

When will they understand that there is no way to betray a Muslim. If, in any way, shape or form, you are dealing with one of these taqiyya-nozzles, then you’re the one being deceived.

From Dyer’s link: “Trump seems to see something others don’t: that occupying territory in Syria isn’t about ISIS now – really hasn’t been for months – and it’s actually kind of stupid to hang around in Syria as if that’s the place to fight ISIS.”

There still remains that niggling little problem of resolving all the different Mediterranean pipeline issues with Qatar and Iraq, not to mention Pakistan’s moribund “peace gas” venture with Iran and India.

With increased American LNG shipments to Europe, any Middle East natural gas conduit that reaches a Mediterranean harbor (or directly into Europe) poses economic complications for the US. Although, it must be said that the thought of natural-gas-export-dependent Russia squirming at prospects of Mediterranean competition give some temporary relief.

  18. Student attack on teacher points up need for change in Obama-era school discipline rules
By Howard Portnoy December 20, 2018

On Tuesday, the White House released a report containing proposals designed to prevent school shootings. The recommendations were made by President’s Trump’s federal school safety commission, which was formed in response to the Parkland massacre.

One of the proposed recommendations, which many on the Right agree is long overdue, is to roll back an Obama-era policy that was meant to eliminate racial disparities in school discipline. Many critics, including LU legal analyst Hans Bader, have argued that the policy leaves school administrations reluctant to take action against potentially dangerous students.

This point was driven home a week ago today when a large student at a Dallas high school went ballistic on a substitute teacher on whom he had many pounds and inches. A cell phone recording by another student captures the moment when the aggressor shoves the teacher to the floor and begins punching and kicking him. According to Fox4 Dallas, the teacher received only minor injuries and was treated by the school’s nurse. But the outcome could have been much worse. Here’s the video.

  20. Cuomo attacks free speech to deflect attention from his harmful policies
By Hans Bader December 19, 2018

New York’s state government is harassing Jewish religious schools while having precious little to say about anti-Semitic hate crimes in New York City. Perhaps to deflect attention from this, Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo is restricting free speech.

Cuomo ordered state police to assist the investigation of allegedly anti-Semitic posters at the State University of New York at Purchase. As a result of the investigation, SUNY-Purchase “student Gunnar Hassard was arraigned in Harrison Town Court for Aggravated Harassment in the First Degree, a class E felony, for hanging posters with Nazi symbolism in areas of the campus.” But it turns out that the posters were based on a “satirical film,” Mel Brooks’s “The Producers” — not racist or Nazi propaganda. This is described in law professor Eugene Volokh’s commentary, “Unconstitutional ‘hate speech’ prosecution in New York.”

Even if the posters weren’t satirical, but genuinely anti-Semitic, they would still be speech protected by the First Amendment. As Prof. Volokh notes, the statute Hassard is being prosecuted under is unconstitutional. For one thing, it “impermissibly singles out a particular message based on its content and even its viewpoint, which is unconstitutional under R.A.V. v. City of St. Paul (1992) (and Virginia v. Black (2003)).”

This prosecution reflects the false belief by New York State officials that hate speech is not protected by the First Amendment. Cuomo has said that “hate speech is not protected as free speech.” But this is untrue: The Supreme Court noted last year that “hateful” speech that “demeans on the basis of race, ethnicity,” or “religion” is nevertheless protected, in its decision in Matal v. Tam. And the Supreme Court struck down a hate-speech ordinance in R.A.V. v. St. Paul (1992).

  21. Why strong-borders advocates should ignore attempts to ‘guilt’ them over migrants
    By J.E. Dyer December 19, 2018

When even the pope is trying to guilt the audience of mankind over the false dilemma of “borders” over “human rights,” it’s time to order All Stop.

I suggest that everyone is free to not even listen to lectures from the left about migrants. This is not because migrants aren’t human beings for whom we should have compassion and care. It’s because they are.

The migrants aren’t the people we are free to ignore. No, that demographic is the scolding left.

And the reason is that when the scolding left is issuing lectures, its concern is not the migrants. The scolding left’s concern is the borders.

Nancy Pelosi is facing accusations of cronyism after a solar energy project, which her brother-in-law has a stake in, landed a $737 million loan guarantee from the Department of Energy, despite the growing Solyndra scandal.

The massive loan agreement is raising new concerns about the use of taxpayers’ money as vast sums are invested in technology similar to that of the doomed energy project.

“Security has been increased in one of the biggest airports in Europe along with other facilities in the German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg due to safety concerns as several people were spotted snooping in the airport.

The security reinforcements at the Stuttgart Airport could have been linked to a terrorist threat, the German Press Agency (DPA) reports.

Three people reportedly came to the security services’ attention. According to DPA, at least one of the suspects, who allegedly scoped out the facility, is classified as an Islamist threat. The agency cites its security sources as saying the Stuttgart suspects may be connected to a similar case at Paris’s Charles de Gaulle Airport, which witnessed increased security checks a week ago.

The German and French security agencies reportedly discovered a possible threat. According to the media outlet, initial indications came through at the beginning of December and were reinforced earlier this week.

Because of the search operation at Stuttgart Airport, security measures at the Friedrichshafen, Karlsruhe / Baden-Baden and Mannheim airports have also been tightened as a precaution. However, the police have said there is no evidence of concrete threat.”

  26. The United States agreed in 1980 to implement the United Nation’s rules on refugees. This means a group of recently deported migrants must be flown back to the U.S. and be given another chance to win asylum, a Democratic-appointed judge declared December 17.
“Congress made clear its intent in promulgating the Refugee Act was to bring the United States’ domestic laws in line with the [U.N.] Protocol,” Judge Emmet Sullivan declared in response to an ACLU lawsuit for several migrants against asylum policies established by former Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Sullivan added: “The new credible fear policies are arbitrary, capricious, and in violation of the immigration laws,” and so must be discarded.

In turn, the migrants must get another chance to win asylum and citizenship in the United States under the rules established by President Barack Obama’s officials, said the decision in Grace v. Sessions, decided in the U.S. District Court in Washington D.C.

The decision was hailed by the ACLU: “This ruling is another defeat for the Trump administration’s all-out assault on the rights of asylum seekers.”

Immigration reform groups slammed the judge’s declaration. “When former Attorney General Jeff Sessions acted earlier this year to narrow the grounds for ‘credible fear’ claims, he was not acting on a whim,” said a statement from Dan Stein, president of the Federation for American Immigration Reform. 30. Last month, the New York State Education Department made a crucial decision: Commissioner MaryEllen Elia handed authority to local school boards to veto the right for private schools to operate. Those school boards must now determine whether private schools provide an education “substantially equivalent to that received in district public schools.” According to Jewish educators Elya Brudny and Yisroel Reisman, “The state government now requires private schools to offer a specific set of classes more comprehensive than what students in public schools must learn.” This isn’t a problem for Jewish schools alone — Catholic schools in New York have bucked the legislation, with James Cultrara, executive secretary of the New York Council of Catholic School Superintendents, explaining, “We simply cannot accept a competing school having authority over whether our schools can operate.”

Now there’s a case to be made that the state has an interest in children learning basic secular studies, and to that end, Cultrara has called for an objective standard for evaluating whether or not schools are properly educating their students. That case is far stronger in a welfare state, in which insufficient education often ends with the public bearing the brunt of such failures.

I believe I have a unique inside view of the mannerisms surrounding Andrew McCabe, other FBI Executive Management and Former Director Mueller, as well as the unethical and coercive tactics they use, not to seek the truth, but to coerce pleas or admissions to end the pain, as I call it. They destroy lives for their own agendas instead of seeking the truth for the American people. Candor is something that should be encouraged and used by leadership to have necessary and continued improvement. Under Mueller, it was seen as a threat and viciously opposed by those he pulled up in the chain of command.

I am explaining this because numerous Agents have expressed the need for you to know McCabe’s and Mueller’s pattern of “target and destroy” has been utilized on many others, without regard for policies and laws. I, myself, am a casualty of this reprehensible behavior and I have spoken to well over 150 other FBI individuals who are casualties as well.

I am the individual who filed the Hatch Act complaint against McCabe and provided significant evidentiary documents obtained via FOIA, open source, and information from current, former, and retired Special Agents. The Office of Special Counsel (OSC) asked why my filing of the complaint was delayed from the actual acts. I said I personally thought I was providing additional information to what should have been an automatic referral to OSC by FBI OPR. I was notified I was the only complainant. This illustrates not only a fatal flaw in OPR AD Candice Will not making the appropriate and crucial referral, but also shows the fear of those within the FBI to report individuals like McCabe for fear of retaliation.

  32. Andrew Left, the noted short-seller, has targeted Twitter Inc. (TWTR) .

Twitter shares were falling 12.5% to $28.78 on Thursday after Left, founder of Citron Research, published a quick note saying that “Twitter has become the Harvey Weinstein of social media.”

In other words, he’s saying Twitter needs to clean up its platform, a process that will put pressure on revenue. Left’s new price target is $20, 31% below its current level.

Left mentioned that Amnesty International, a non-governmental organization, has deemed Twitter abusive to human rights and called it “toxic” for women.

Not only would a potentially much-needed platform clean-up hurt user growth and engagement, but something else would happen even before users leave the platform: Advertisers that need to be socially sensitive might flock too.

“Any form of tweaking of the business model to ‘monitor speech’ sends traffic, engagement, and total users backwards for Twitter,” Left wrote in his note. Plus, “Twitter now not only faces the problem of conservative backlash but more importantly the ad buyer who must be sensitive to all social norms,” Left said.

  33. Kill the Electoral College Before Another Evil Leader Is ‘Elected’

There isn’t a New York Times best seller that will be able to compete with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report with its conclusions about Trump and company, pre- and post-2016 election, when it is finally complete. The phrase, “you couldn’t write this stuff” will most certainly ring true.

With the investigation pushing hard through the final phase, we are given some pieces of the puzzle. More indictments are sure to come with, perhaps, focus on “trisexual” Roger Stone and Donald Jr., and maybe even son-in-law Jared Kushner. As Mueller closes in, we see Trump grow more frantic. We wait for the Congressional Republicans to remember that protecting democracy is indeed their job. As a nation we watch our standing in the world fall even further, recession fears are discussed, climate fears are fast becoming devasting reality, the Republicans go to ugly lengths to protect their stranglehold in states like Wisconsin, Michigan, and North Carolina and division is stoked by our president to protect himself from his day of reckoning. Such is the state of this very troubled union.

    • The left is pushing hard to kill the electoral collage because that would let a handfull of big cities dominate the elections (like they do in Canada) and elect nothing but Dems. I don’t see the electoral collage will be eliminated, doing so requires a Constitutional Amendment and none of the smaller population states is going to throw away the ability to matter in the election of the President. The radical left always thinks we are as stupid as their propaganda says we are.

  34. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency arrested more than 6,500 illegal aliens who have been convicted of homicide and sexual offenses in Fiscal Year 2018.
Between September 2017 and October 2018, ICE agents arrested a little more than 6,600 convicted murderers and convicted sex offenders who were in the United States illegally.

Of that total, 4,975 of the illegal aliens arrested were convicted sex offenders. The other 1,641 illegal aliens had been convicted of homicide. Another 1,913 illegal aliens that were arrested by ICE had pending sex offense charges against them, while 387 illegal aliens had pending murder charges against them.

As Breitbart News reported, ICE agents arrested 158,581 illegal aliens, surpassing the more than 140,000 illegal alien arrests made last year and the 110,100 illegal alien arrests in the last year of President Obama’s tenure.

Which the DM article does show.
But I do find the prison tats revealing, which usually Means he has killed people. and yet here he is, out on the streets raping the dead.

  35. It’s Facebook-official: The social-media giant just can’t seem to guard users’ privacy, as it has repeatedly promised to do.

Documents acquired by The New York Times show that Facebook allowed more than 150 companies to see the names of virtually all Facebook users’ friends and other personal data without consent — generally in exchange for Facebook getting access to its “partners’?” own collections of data.

Buried deep in the Times’ story is the news that the paper itself got this privileged access. Of greater concern: So did Huawei and Yandex — companies with ties to the espionage-obsessed governments of China and Russia.

Some firms — Netflix and Spotify — even gained the ability to read Facebook users’ private messages.

As the Times also reports, the data exchange “was intended to benefit everyone”: Facebook got more users and ad revenue; its partners improved their products; and Facebook users supposedly gained a superior social-media experience.

Problem is, Facebook was breaking its privacy promises — lying to users for what it decided was their own good.

On Friday, Adam Palfi and his family will be picking up plane tickets to Europe.

By no means are they an early Christmas present. The tickets are for one-way flights back to Hungary.

After seven years building their lives in Canada, 17-year-old Adam, his 15-year-old brother Marton, his mother and stepfather learned last week that they’re being deported at the end of the school semester.

“It’s like ripping someone out of their home,” said Palfi, a Grade 12 student at Westmount Secondary School.

“It really feels like they’re trying to take away everything that myself and my parents have worked for.”

The family came to Canada and claimed refugee status in September 2011, fleeing what Palfi described as violent abuse directed at him, his brother and his mother by his biological father.

“We tried going to the police but basically the way the police force works in Hungary, unless you get beat to death in front of them, they do not do anything,” Palfi said.

He said the family’s original hearing with Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Board began in November 2012 but couldn’t be completed. Their claim then languished for another six years.

During that time, the family got itself on its feet and his parents found employment as building superintendents in Hamilton.

Palfi said his mother, Erzsebet Almassy, has a PhD and was a college professor and an opera singer back in Budapest. His stepfather, Tibor Lakatos, was a fire alarm system engineer in Hungary.

The family’s refugee hearing finally concluded in late spring and their claim was rejected.

“The board member who heard our case believed that Hungary can protect us, which is not true,” said Palfi. He also claims his mother was called “untruthful.”

“We were told that because my mom is well-educated, she can make up a story, a story that’s not true,” he said.

Sheridan Daly, a Grade 10 Westmount student and close friend of Marton, started an online petition Wednesday trying to gather support to keep the family in Canada.

  37. Democratic operatives, backed by a liberal billionaire and facilitated by a former Obama official, created thousands of fake Russian accounts to give an impression the Russian government was supporting Alabama Republican Roy Moore in last year’s election against now-Sen. Doug Jones.

The secret project, which had a budget of just $100,000 and was carried out on Facebook and Twitter, was revealed after the New York Times obtained an internal report detailing the efforts.

“We orchestrated an elaborate ‘false flag’ operation that planted the idea that the Moore campaign was amplified on social media by a Russian botnet,” the internal report said. It also took credit for “radicalizing Democrats with a Russian bot scandal” after experimenting “with many of the tactics now understood to have influenced the 2016 elections.”
