  1. Although this fifteen minute video is dated (i.e., from 2016) its coverage shows that the ongoing demographic and socioeconomic shifts in Red China will prove to be massive economic drivers—just not necessarily ones that are very helpful to Beijing. Urban workers returning to their rural roots may well start establishing gray economies that might not be much benefit to the people’s liberation.

  2. Despite this video being relatively stale (i.e., from 2014) it is one of the very few clips I’ve seen that openly discusses the issue of Food Security as a national interest for the USA—or any country for that matter. The overall content is draped about Red Chinese company Shuanghui International Holdings Ltd. (now called WH Group Ltd.) and its acquisition of Virginia-based Smithfield Foods (which is the largest pig and pork producer in the world).

Per my routine predictions, much like water poverty, food insecurity—essentially, but not entirely, the same thing (e.g., agriculture involves other factors like arable land, pipeline compatibility, etc.)—will become a far more serious friction point than puny oil or South China Sea territorial rights.

    • Yes, I’ve seen Chinese buying up our farm lands. They extract the produce and ship it back for Chinese consumption.

I’ve also seen City Councillors agree to rezone rich farm land to residential for housing.

City Councillors do not work for our good but rather for their pocket money.

      • I’ve also seen City Councillors agree to rezone rich farm land to residential for housing.

This same thing is happening on the Left Coast. The fringes of California’s Central Valley—some of the world’s very finest agricultural land, bar none—are being paved over with tract homes to solve the (non-low-income) “affordable housing” crisis for what shreds of Middle Class wage earners that still remain in Silicon Valley.

This vital natural resource grows some FIFTY PERCENT of all produce consumed in the USA. As an example, even before CCD (Colony Collapse Disorder) became so critical of an issue, neonicotinoid pesticides and the varroa destructor mite already had begun to impact America’s European honeybee populations. The arrival of Africanized “killer bees” did not help matters any.

Many years ago, farmers (and especially orchardists), began using trucked-mounted, mobile bee colonies to pollinate their crops. What follows is but a small example of the Central Valley’s awesome fecundity. When California’s almond crop is flowering, some NINETY PERCENT or more of all mobile hives in the entire United States are relocated to Californian croplands.

How ironic that the illegals who invaded this state for jobs as farm workers, now earn enough money to put down-payments on homes that—without government intervention—will continue to choke off California’s irreplaceable agricultural productivity. Rarely, if at all, will such superb arable land ever be returned to its most valuable role (i.e., helping provide national Food Security).

The houses only get built once (and sold a few times) compared to family farmland that has been furnishing precious crops every year for well over a century.

There are few better ways of driving the globalist, one-world-government agenda than by making America even more dependent upon imported food stocks. As it is, France is the only nation on earth that grows enough food to feed itself. It’s all too clear that Micron is doing his best to uproot (as it were) that irksome Gallic fondness for independence.

        [waves to the Yellow Vests]

Anyone who doubts the importance of Food Security need only give a cursory glance at the MME (Muslim Middle East) in order to appreciate how superannuated regional agricultural practices are, literally, continuing to destroy Mesopotamia’s once-Fertile Crescent.

Is this really an experiment that needs repeating in the West?

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

PS: Later today, as part of my city’s anti-litter campaign, after lunch I’ll be picking up a complimentary yellow reflective vest (plus trash-picker and bucket). From now on, whenever leaving my home, that yellow vest will be worn over my clothing to indicate solidarity with the indigenous French people.

        • Dell and hamnation! Yucki has mentioned how Antisemitism is surfacing within the Gilets Jaunes. I’m holding off on the vest schtick until there’s verification or disowning of such elements, if they do exist. If true, this is more than a little disappointing.

It bears remembering how the Gilets Jaunes were quickly infiltrated by much more violent Antifa cadres. What’s there being done to prevent a similar infiltration—with the explicit intent of further blackening the reputation of legitimate protestors—by the same or some other Anarchist group?

    • I agree food security isn’t discussed often enough. People don’t realize it’s been an issue throughout history, or how recent the Green revolution was. There hasn’t been much progress in yield increase since then.
I think the problem might make a comeback. There was a crisis 10 years ago:
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007%E2%80%9308_world_food_price_crisis

And yes, China is doing things like buying up arable land, but they’re not the only player. India and Saudi Arabia have had huge farms in East-Africa for over a decade.
Oil can’t be ignored. Modern farming requires lots of oil, as fuel and production of pesticides. So food prices follow oil prices.

      • There hasn’t been much progress in yield increase since then.

This is where the motives and impact of ammonium nitrate fertilizer producers demands some serious scrutiny. The industry has known for many years (i.e., ever since the post-WWII market collapse for bomb explosives) that ammonium nitrate, literally, chemically scalds to death healthy soil biota, soil fauna (or edaphon – like earthworms), and beneficial fungal mycology.

Well-maintained organic topsoil can contain over ONE TRILLION organisms PER TABLESPOON. Over ninety percent of them are bacteria whose purpose has yet to be discovered (or cataloged). Exterminating this topsoil ecology has caused—not only an unwholesome dependence upon these same chemical fertilizers (and their accompanying pesticides)—industrial agricultural suppliers to come up with even more harmful “innovations”.

While correlation is NOT causation, the introduction of glyphosate (i.e., Monsanto’s Roundup™) and a sharp uptick in autism cannot be ignored. The same goes for a similar correspondence to premature, senility-related deaths.

Below is a grimly amusing 45-second video clip where some random rectal cavity Monsanto lobbyist claims that undiluted Roundup™ is completely safe for humans to imbibe (and even offers to drink some on-air)—even citing how despondent farm workers have (supposedly unsuccessfully) attempted suicide by drinking a quart of it—then goes on to say, “I’m not an idiot!” when his interviewer offers to pour him a glass of the chemical sewage.

We’ll refrain from discussing how just plowing the earth exposes fragile, underground soil microbes to the sun’s ultraviolet light and high concentrations of oxygen—killing them almost instantly.

Truly healthy soil can support many more varieties of crops and produce them with a regularity that even the finest Swiss watchmakers would envy. For example, northern California’s Singing Frogs Farm employs a no-till soil management policy and intercropping methods to achieve four-season crop yields that would make most agribusiness farmers blush with embarrassment.

  3. Here’s a very recent ten-minute clip about California’s relatively abrupt slide from magnetic middle class paradise to immigrant hellhole in a mere half-century, or so.

      • Its been a while since I have offered this advice so here it is again.

Whenever anyone sees a clip that shows the true nature of leftism or islam, use one of the many in browser or even websites that allow you to download it and keep the clip on an external hard drive so you may restore it should the clip be removed for political purposes.

Not a comedic sketch which is genuine IP, but a news clip or otherwise fact based reporting that contradicts the leftist-islamic narrative. Save it and restore to somewhere other than YT should the need occur.

        • Please name some downloadable, reliable, compatible, safe, uninfected capture apps and I’ll be happy to do so.

I’m NOT from the government, and I’m here to help.

          • I like Wondershare. You may have to pay for it, but if you just want the download feature and not the convert feature, it may be very inexpensive.

As I use it nearly constantly I find it a near gift even at full price.

  4. Pakistan rejects ‘politically motivated’ listing as violator of religious freedoms by US (dawn, Dec 12, 2018)
    https://www.dawn.com/news/1450996/pakistan-rejects-politically-motivated-listing-as-violator-of-religious-freedoms-by-us

“As Washington announced that Islamabad had been added to a list of violators of religious freedoms, Pakistan on Wednesday rejected the “unilateral and politically motivated pronouncement”, and suggested the US introspect over the “exponential rise” of Islamophobia and anti-Semitism in America.

“Pakistan rejects the US State Department’s unilateral and politically motivated pronouncement … Besides the clear biases reflected from these designations, there are serious questions over the credentials and impartiality of the self-proclaimed jury involved in this unwarranted exercise,” a Foreign Office (FO) statement issued today said.

The FO explained measures that the government had taken to safeguard the rights of its citizens, including legal and administrative mechanisms.

“Pakistan does not need counsel by any individual country how to protect the rights of its minorities,” the statement asserted.

The FO suggested that honest introspection on Washington’s part would have been a timely move in order to ascertain the causes behind the exponential rise in Islamophobia and anti-Semitism in the US.

“Sadly, the proponents of human rights worldwide close their eyes to the systematic persecution of minorities subjected to alien domination and foreign occupation such as in the occupied Jammu and Kashmir,” the statement added.

    More details to follow.”

  5. Two-dimensional materials skip the energy barrier by growing one row at a time

A new collaborative study led by a research team at the Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, University of California, Los Angeles and the University of Washington could provide engineers new design rules for creating microelectronics, membranes and tissues, and open up better production methods for new materials. At the same time, the research, published online Dec. 6 in the journal Science, helps uphold a scientific theory that has remained unproven for over a century.

Just as children follow a rule to line up single file after recess, some materials use an underlying rule to assemble on surfaces one row at a time, according to the study.

Nucleation—that first formation step—is pervasive in ordered structures across nature and technology, from cloud droplets to rock candy. Yet despite some predictions made in the 1870s by the American scientist J. Willard Gibbs, researchers are still debating how this basic process happens.

The new study verifies Gibbs’ theory for materials that form row by row. Led by UW graduate student Jiajun Chen, working at PNNL, the research uncovers the underlying mechanism, which fills in a fundamental knowledge gap and opens new pathways in materials science.

  6. While too often Politically Correct, this thirty-minute video from 2016 details Pakistan’s almost unknown E-waste processing economy—along with the havoc it is wreaking on human health and the environment alike. Along the way, inadvertently or not, this program reveals several telling facts that all point towards serious economic instability for an already volatile and violence-prone country.

  7. Terahertz laser for sensing and imaging outperforms its predecessors

NR: In the past, high speed, shutterless, rotating prism, 100,000 frames per second, movie cameras were used provide slow-motion analysis of everything from fired tank shells to nuclear explosions.

All the same, Trinity site scientists needed to slow down the very first few individual microseconds of an atomic detonation even further to confirm the validity of explosive lens designs. Even the existing 25,000 frames per second (i.e., one frame per microsecond) shooting speeds were too slow to capture this critical (as it were) event.

Now, imaging going from even modern frame rates of 25 million FPS (Frames Per Second) over to, let’s say, FOUR TRILLION FRAMES PER SECOND. In theory, MIT’s terahertz laser should be able to approach these image capture speeds. Catching molecular and atomic state change transitions or particle energy transfers requires near-infinite framing speed because of the almost-instantaneous nature of such reactions

      • Like.

Ah, yup. Although I’m unsure as to how compact the MIT laser is, when it’s combined with Germany’s new on-chip electron accelerator, this all starts to approach Star Trek’s “tricorder” technology.

  9. UK MUST prepare for ALL OUT WAR against Russia, China and Iran military chief warns (express, Dec 12, 2018)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1057686/world-war-3-latest-russia-china-iran-terror-isis-uk-british-military

“THE UK must prepare for all out war and shift away from our peacetime mentality amid rising fears from superstates Russia, China and Iran, the head of the military has said.

General Sir Nick Carter warned Russia, China, Iran and sadistic terrorist organisations like ISIS are a colossal threat towards the UK. He said Britain’s security, stability and prosperity are being challenged by the “ambitious” superstates. He admitted, “the multilateral system that has assured our stability since 1945 is threatened” and mass migration was “arguably an existential threat to Europe”.

Mr Carter said, in his first lecture as Chief of the Defence Staff at the Royal United Services Institute, that Russia and China had “studied our strengths and invested carefully in new methods and capabilities that are designed to exploit weaknesses”.

These included ballistic and cruise missiles, low-yield nuclear weapons, cyberweapons, space and counter space weapons, and electronic warfare.

The UK must now shift away from our peacetime mentality and embrace the innovation to stop these threats to our national security.

He said the UK needs to take risks and experiment with new technologies.

The military chief said: “We are in a period of change more widespread, rapid and profound than humanity has experienced outside of world war.”

Mr Carter added: “It inevitably brings instability which requires a different approach to the traditional peacetime mentality.

“We need to recreate the innovation and ingenuity seen in wartime to succeed in this environment.”

He empathised: “What constitutes a weapon in this ‘grey zone’, below the threshold of conventional war, no longer has to go ‘bang’.”

Looking to the future, he said the UK military would be “digitally enabled and integrated”, and change how it fights and develops capabilities.

The Chief of the Defence Staff also said Iraq and Afghan war veterans were “pitied” by the public rather than respected.

He said the younger generation of veterans are misunderstood because of dramas, documentaries, films and even charity campaigns that portray them as “scarred for life”.

He said the imaging was making it harder for the military to recruit.

In a bid for support he said: “While our servicemen and women appreciate public support, they want to be valued and respected – not pitied – in other words, it’s about empathy, not sympathy.

“The respect and honour shown to our Chelsea Pensioners proves that as a nation we value our older veterans.

“But we also have a generation of younger veterans from more recent campaigns who are subject to misconceptions.”

He added: “Public misconception is fuelled by television documentaries, dramas, films and some charity campaigns, and there is a risk that public misconception is acting as a barrier to the prospects of veterans in civilian life, as well as deterring would-be new recruits from joining.”

Despite declining to name a specific programme, BBC1’s hit series Bodyguard, which was watched by 10.4 million viewers for its final episode, had at its centre a “troubled war veteran” tasked with protecting the Home Secretary.

Sir Nick said modern-day veterans were often thought of as “scarred for life”, “homeless”, “have turned to alcohol or drugs because of traumatic stress disorder”, or “are more likely to go to prison”.”

    • He is right all nations should prepare for a major war, they should but most of them won’t. Just as all nations should gain control of their borders and start removing illegal immigrants. They should but they won’t

      • In some circles, this is known as “The Ostrich Syndrome”. Only when these (willfully unseeing) morons politicians are forced to breathe sand will they begin to exhibit any situational awareness. 10. University of London Students Demand Comedians Sign ‘Safe Space’ Contract Before Performance (breitbart, Dec 11, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2018/12/11/university-of-london-students-demand-comedians-sign-safe-space-contract-before-performance/

“Students at the University of London in London, England, are demanding that comedians sign a “behavioral agreement” form in order to ensure that their event in January will be a “safe space” for everyone in attendance.

A student group called the United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF) at the University of London is demanding that all comedians sign a contract agreeing to obey the students’ “no tolerance policy” before being allowed to perform at their upcoming charity event, as first reported by PJ Media.

Free-speech advocate and comedian Konstantin Kisin, who was expected to perform at the event, was appalled upon discovering the newfound restrictions in an email sent to him by UNICEF. The comedian tweeted his sentiments on Monday morning, along with a screenshot of the alleged email.

“I just received an invitation to perform *comedy* at a university…” wrote Kisin, “The title of this ‘contract’ nearly made me puke.”

The image attached to Kisin’s tweet shows a portion of the email in which students had banned comedians from joking about a wide range of topics.

“By signing this contact, you are agreeing to our no tolerance policy with regards to racism, sexism, classism, ageism, ableism, homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, xenophobia, Islamophobia or anti-religion or anti-atheism,” wrote the UNICEF.

“This contract has been written to ensure an environment where joy, love and acceptance is reciprocated by all,” continued the students, adding that it was important for them to “provide a safe space” for everyone at the event.

“All topics must be presented in a way that is respectful and kind. It does not mean that these topics can not be discussed. But, it must be done in a respectful and non-abusive way.”

Kisin, who was also scheduled to perform at the Backyard Comedy Club in London on Tuesday, stated that he would make Tuesday night’s comedy show about “complying with [UNICEF’s] rules.”

Last week, students at Columbia University invited SNL writer and comedian Nimesh Patel to perform comedy at an event, only to boot the comedian from the stage in the middle of hit set, as the students found Patel’s jokes “offensive.”

It is not clear what had inspired UNICEF to draft their “no tolerance” contract, but one might assume that it is the students’ attempt at being proactive, knowing that they too would desire to have a comedian removed from the stage if a joke were to fall on politically correct ears.”

  11. Italy’s Salvini Slams E.U. for ‘Unbalanced’ Approach to Israel (breitbart, Dec 12, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/middle-east/2018/12/12/italys-salvini-slams-e-u-for-unbalanced-approach-to-israel/

“The European Union has done nothing to support the continued existence of Israel, Italy Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini said Tuesday in Jerusalem, adding that the Jewish state can rely on the backing of Rome.

“The EU has in recent years been entirely unbalanced, it has condemned and sanctioned Israel left and right, for every step it took,” he told reporters.

The head of the Liga Party is on a 48-hour trip to Israel which includes a visit the Western Wall, the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial and a meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, AFP reports.

Mr Salvini’s criticism of the E.U. and its lack of support for Israel comes 12 months after 60 members of the European Parliament called on E.U. foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini to stop E.U. funding and isolate the anti-Israel BDS (Boycott,Divestment and Sanctions) movement.

In a letter, the cross party group urged Mogherini to marginalize, both financially and politically, organizations such as BDS that are increasingly becoming a virulent source of anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism under the pretense of exercising freedom of speech and association.

Mr. Salvini touched on the importance of continuing that fight, saying Israel is “a safe haven for European and Western values in the region”, while adding that “whoever wants peace supports Israel”…”

  12. 5 detained as France hunts Christmas market terror suspect (abcnews, Dec 12, 2018)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/france-hunts-terror-suspect-attacked-christmas-market-59766722

“French authorities detained five people as they hunted Wednesday for a suspected extremist who sprayed gunfire at one of Europe’s most famous Christmas markets in the eastern city of Strasbourg, killing three and wounding at least 13 and putting the whole country on edge anew.

The government raised the security alert level and sent police reinforcements to Strasbourg, where some 350 security forces are searching for the assailant. Police officials said he was wounded in a gunfight with soldiers after the Tuesday night attack but escaped, and a top official said he might have escaped to neighboring Germany.

The attacker is a 29-year-old with a police record in France and Germany who had been flagged for extremism, police said. Police detained five people in overnight searches around the city, Laurent Nunez, secretary of state for the Interior Ministry, said on France-Inter radio.

A terrorism investigation was opened, but the motive of the attack is unclear. Nunez said eight of the injured are in serious condition, and the city mayor said some had head wounds…”

    • BREITBART – Strasbourg Terror Suspect Yelled ‘Allahu Akbar’ During Attack, Has 27 Prior Criminal Convictions

Strasbourg terror suspect Cherif C. is still on the run from police but new information has revealed that he has 27 prior criminal convictions and yelled “Allahu Akbar” during the attack which led to the death of two people, the brain death of another, and several injuries.

The new information was revealed Wednesday at a press conference by France’s anti-terror prosecutor Rémy Heitz who said that witnesses had observed the suspect yelling “Allahu Akbar” as he fired upon the crowd at the Strasbourg Christmas market on Tuesday evening, France24 reports.

[…]Investigators have also said that the crimes did not occur in just France, noting he had also committed crimes in both Germany and Switzerland as well.

Following his last release from prison, the 29-year-old was placed on a terror watch list after it was believed that he had been radicalised while behind bars.

Hours before the attack, the suspect’s house had been raided by police who found a hand grenade, a shotgun, and other weapons. Investigators now say that the 29-year-old had been a suspect in a prior attempted murder and that is what sparked the initial raid.

On Wednesday police arrested four men believed to be connected to Cherif C. and revealed that the terror suspect had used a taxi to flee the scene and had even bragged to the taxi driver that he had killed at least ten people.[…]

Two people were killed and another left brain-dead in Tuesday’s shooting, which is being treated as a terrorist attack.

Twelve people were were also wounded, six seriously.

The suspect, named by police as Cherif Chekatt, had an extensive criminal record – 27 convictions in total – and was known to authorities for having been radicalised in prison, Heitz confirmed.

The prosecutor also revealed that investigators had found a number of weapons in his home, including “a defensive grenade, a 22mm long rifle – which was charged – with a lot of ammunition, four knives and two hunting knives.”

He was first flagged to authorities at the age of 10. He was added to a watchlist of potential Islamist while in prison in France in 2015 for “practising a radical form of religion”.

Since then, France’s domestic intelligence agency, the DGSI, has kept tabs on him.

However, a spokeswoman of Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office, which handles cases related to terrorism, said they had been given no indication of this, saying: “For us, he was a blank slate.”

Chekatt has served time in German prison for several robberies.

  13. Bavaria Riot: Migrants Attack Policemen, Set Refugee Centre on Fire (VIDEO) (sputniknews, Dec 12, 2018)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201812121070608949-germany-migrant-centre-riot-fire/

“Eleven people, including one policeman, have been injured as a result of unrest in a so-called anchor centre for migrants in the southern Germany. Several Eritrean nationals are said to have attacked security staffers and policemen with stones and metal bars, as well as set the building on fire. A police raid later revealed drugs and stolen goods.

Several people were detained following a violent outburst in the Upper Franconian Anchor Centre for migrants in the northern Bavarian town of Bamberg. Police were called to the site after a disturbance was reported on Tuesday night. The patrol that first arrived on the scene was attacked with paving stones and other objects. Therefore, reinforcements were deployed, who surrounded the building.

Several Eritreans, along with other residents of the centre, reportedly attacked the police and security staff and barricaded themselves inside the premises. They also allegedly set one of the apartments on fire. It forced residents out of the building, and this allowed the police to detain 8 migrants. Four main suspects are to appear in front of a court on December 12, police and prosecutors said. The investigators strongly suspect the migrants, who attacked the police, intended to kill them, the German outlet Die Welt reports.

According to the newspaper, eleven people were injured. One of them was a policeman who was attacked with a metal bar and needed medical treatment. The other ten were residents of the centre, including 9 suspected rioters, who were treated for smoke inhalation. The fire also caused property damage worth around 100,000 euros.

In the morning after the riot, the Bamberg police raided the complex with “pre-emptive police checks”. The inspections revealed violations of the Narcotics Act and discovered alleged stolen goods.

Three months earlier, in an attempt to sort out migration problems, the authorities turned seven transit centres in Bavaria into so-called anchor centres, which were designed to speed up asylum procedures for migrants who are unlikely to have the right to stay. The centre in Bamberg, where 1,250 asylum seekers now live, can accommodate up to 3,400 people.

  15. Circle of Deceit.

“During the euro debate 15 years ago,
    I frequently wondered why apparently
intelligent people, most of whom had been
to Oxford or Cambridge universities, so
strongly advocated the new currency, when its predecessor (the ERM) had caused such hardship for millions and had then fallen apart completely.

Their position wasn’t logical. My theory at
the time was that ‘Europeanism’, involving
a transfer of democratic power to the
unelected, was a new type of secular religion, as communism had been, for example, a century or so before.

As a secular religion, leaps of faith were
required, so logic could not trump faith.
What was evident then was that the bookish tribes, with important exceptions, from the dreaming spires were far more likely to be taken in by Moonie-like cults than were the horney-handed sons of the soil, who toiled in the mundane world of factories, shops and pubs.

FT journalist Gillian Tett reflected on a similar issue when the euro nearly collapsed in about 2012. Gillian’s view was that high-level myopia about the euro was due to ‘groupthink’.

A quasi-religion or groupthink – maybe they’re the same. In any event, plus ça change.
Here we are in 2018 – and the echo chamber of Remain either doesn’t understand how free trade or the EU works or is trying to fool the public.

I suspect that some of this emanates from the view of wind-up merchant Dominic Cummings, head of the Leave campaign, who absurdly says that the referendum was won because of the disputed claim that the UK would save £350m per week – when a more realistic figure, according to the BBC, was £163m.

This amount was dwarfed by false claims by Remain that mortgages would rise and families would be worse off by £4,300 per annum, eventually, if we voted to leave.
However, in the idiotic echo chamber of SW1, trying to fool the public has its followers, so I suspect that the Remainers, in ‘doubling down’ on false claims that food prices will rise without a deal, are trying to copy Cummings. The blind
    leading the blind…

My own view is that these clever-arse tricks don’t work, since the public is collectively highly intelligent. Cummings and Osborne’s tricks just alienated the public – and it was left to those who actually appeared in front of the cameras
(me, sometimes…) and in endless debates to pick up the pieces.

In any event, the lies about food prices, almost invariably made by people like Cummings and Osborne, are a disgrace (see numbers 8–14) – and show particular contempt for the intelligence of the public.
In the meantime, the secular religion of
Europeanism fights on, as it tries to thwart
the referendum and transfer more owners
to the corrupt, chaotic and ineffectual
    Brussels superstate.”

    • What is wrong with BPS? Bolsinaro and Orban are NOT strong men. They are classical liberals set to restore democracy. I have suspected there is a commie streak in BPS but its starting to become a grassy median more than just a lane marker.

      • I should add that a wealth gap means nothing at all if the lower end of that spectrum is getting better. The only time a wealth gap has any real world meaning is when the poor and middle cannot make ends meet like in France, despite working hard, and the rich control more and more.

But in and of itself a wealth gap has no meaning except in the rhetoric of communists who leverage it using the politics of envy.

Why would it matter if they guy down the street from me has billions and multiple palaces when I have a small apartment if I am not suffering because of his actions?

In fact he generates wealth that benefits the whole nation and from which many of us draw at one level or another of removal.

  17. Oval Office confrontation: Pelosi – ‘Tinkle contest with a skunk’; Trump – ‘Border security’
    By J.E. Dyer December 11, 2018

President Trump had many Americans cheering on Tuesday as he blew past mini-lectures from Democratic leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer to hammer border security in a meeting in the White House.

Pelosi and Schumer both tried gambits that have usually worked with Republicans in the past (e.g., “We don’t want a government shutdown”). One gambit, however, is one they haven’t had to deploy before, or at least not within my memory. Pelosi used it more than once, and Schumer chimed in once as well: their statement was that “arguing” about the best way to achieve border security needed to be done off-camera. (A complete video record of the interlude is below. If all you’ve seen is clips, it’s very worthwhile.)

Perhaps there are some viewers who agree with that. But I doubt there are really very many. Visibility on exactly what the Democrats and the president don’t agree on is something we need more of, not less.

    https://libertyunyielding.com/2018/12/11/oval-office-confrontation-pelosi-tinkle-contest-with-a-skunk-trump-border-security/

      • The Democrats idea of bipartisanship is for us to shut up and let them take our rights from us.

What I see in the video is the Dems acting like spoiled children who refuse to talk about anything they don’t want to do.

  18. Allowing our institutions to take out stakes in that perpetuated illegality will destroy America. Functional inequality cannot coexist with the ideal of equality; we proved that with the justly intolerable institution of slavery. We either end illegal migration, or it will end us.

…illegal migration is destructive in every way, undermining the rule of law, social cohesion and trust, and the very basis of our ideal of equality before the law.

It’s hard to overemphasize how important it is in leadership to not let your effort be sidetracked and jabbered into oblivion. The opponents of real border and law enforcement have been doing just that for many years.

Richard: Above are selected quotes from the article, please watch the entire thing.

The big question is was Trump bluffing about shutting down the government? So far he hasn’t bluffed with anyone so with luck he isn’t now. As J.E. says pushing him to shutting down the government is risky for the Dems, if he refuses to sign a continuing resolution without border funding and the opponents of the wall can’t over ride his veto they have given him a very big political win, one that will resonate through out the rest of his time in the oval office.

The most telling statement in article is her very true statement that we either end illegal immigration of it will end the United States. If you look at Europe you can see how the globalist/Marxist politicians have used open ended illegal immigration to destroy the Western European nations. France and other are starting to fight back but the survival of their nations is still in doubt. As Trevor Loudon says the US is the last hope of mankind for continued freedom, if we go down the entire world sinks into chaos and a high tech Third World existance of the government controlling everyone with tech that makes “1984” and “Brave New World” look like simple minded nursery stories.

The choice is simple, we either fight or se accept our status as slaves.

  22. Turkey: New operation to start in eastern Syria ‘in a few days’ – Erdogan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that a new operation against US-backed Kurdish militants “east of the Euphrates” would be launched “in a few days,” while speaking at a defense industry summit in Ankara on Wednesday.

“We won’t be a just mere spectator to the games which are staged right next to our borders,” Erdogan said, and confirmed that Turkey “will start the operation to clear the East of the Euphrates from separatist terrorists in a few days.”

The Kurdish militants operating east of the Euphrates has been long been a thorny issue between Turkey, a key NATO ally, and the United States, who backs the Kurdish fighters in Syria. The militants are seen by Turkey as an affiliate of the separatist Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organisation by several states and organisations, including NATO.

“I have to underline this, our target is never US soldiers but the active terror organization members. We are determined to turn the Eastern Euphrates to a peaceful and livable place to its native residents,” Erdogan concluded.

    • Erdogan says Turkey will start new military operation against US-backed Kurdish fighters in Syria within days (telegraph, Dec 12, 2018)
      https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/12/12/erdogan-says-turkey-will-start-new-military-operation-against/

“Turkey will launch a new operation in Syria within days against a US-backed Kurdish militia that Ankara considers a terrorist group, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Wednesday.

“We will start an operation to free the east of the Euphrates from the separatist terrorist organisation in the next few days,” Mr Erdogan said during a speech in Ankara, referring to territory held by the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG).

Turkey says the YPG is a “terrorist offshoot” of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which has waged an insurgency against the Turkish state since 1984.

The PKK is blacklisted as a terror group by Ankara and its Western allies.

US forces have worked closely with the YPG under the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) alliance against Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil).

“The target is never American soldiers but terrorist organisation members active in the region,” Mr Erdogan told the audience at a defence industry summit.

There are US forces with the SDF east of the Euphrates as well as in the flashpoint city of Manbij, which is west of the river.

Washington’s relationship with the YPG, seen as a key ally, is one of the main sources of tensions between Turkey and the US. Ankara has repeatedly lambasted Washington for providing military support to the Kurdish militia.

Mr Erdogan has previously threatened to attack areas held by the YPG. In a bid to avoid any clash, the Nato allies agreed a “roadmap” for Manbij in June.

His comments came a day after the Pentagon announced the setting up of US observation posts on the northeast Syria border region intended to prevent altercations between the Turkish army and the YPG despite calls from Ankara not to go ahead with the move.

Mr Erdogan claimed Turkey was not being protected from terrorists but “terrorists were being protected” from possible action by Turkey.”

  24. Extraordinary speech by Giorgia Meloni on UN Global Compact in Italian parliament, English subtitles

Some backgroud to this speech: last week Oliviero Toscani, a photographer famous for his work with Benetton in the 80s and 90s, called Meloni “ugly” and “retarded”, that’s where that comes from. Meloni’s speech took place last Saturday (8th December) during a debate which was ostensibly about the budget, not the UN Global Compact. But Fratelli d’Italia (Meloni’s party) introduced a motion calling on the government not to spend any money on any action related to the Global Compact. This is what Meloni is referring to when she says Lega (Salvini’s party) should back up their words at rallies (“we are against the Compact”), and vote against the Compact in parliament – she is asking them to back her motion. The motion was rejected by the chamber.

Lega’s Riccardo Molinari responded to Meloni by saying that Lega had made it clear that they were against the Compact as a party, but that a special parliamentary session would be held later (as Salvini has already said) and that this would be the time to discuss the Compact, not now during a discussion on the budget. At Fratelli d’Italia’s request, the chamber of deputies will discuss the Global Compact next week (Tuesday and Wednesday). It’s unclear whether this will serve as the discussion proposed by the government, or whether a separate session will also be held for that later.

Ivan Scalfarotto is a member of the PD (centre-left). Laura Boldrini is the most famous / infamous pro-migrant activist in Italy. She is part of the smaller LeU group (to the left of the PD). The 37 euros comment referes to the amount spent by the Italian government on each migrant per day. Fratelli d’Italia are one of the four centre-right parties, along with Lega (Salvini’s party), Forza Italia (Berlusconi’s party) and Noi con l’Italia (a smaller party than the others). Those four parties are generally on good terms with each other and had hoped to form a government together after the last election but did not win enough seats, so Lega formed a government with Five Star instead.

“More than 60,000 people have been killed in Yemen in the last two years, according to a new assessment, a figure six times higher than previous estimates.

The figure of 10,000 used by the United Nations is outdated and nowhere near the likely true fatality figure of 60,223, according to UK-based independent research group Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED).

Calculating death tolls in Yemen, which is approaching its fourth year, is complicated by the lack of access.

The figure offered by ACLED, which looked at open-source data and local news reports, does not include those thought to have died from malnutrition. Save the Children charity says some 85,000 may have died from starvation since 2016.

The death toll “is far higher than official estimates – and still underestimated,” Clionadh Raleigh, ACLED’s executive director, said…”

  28. Men receives 100 LASHES for underage sex attack – as doctor IGNORES calls for mercy (express, Dec 12, 2018)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1058009/indonesia-public-lashing-human-rights-watch

“TWO MEN found guilty of sex with underage girls in Indonesia have received 100 lashes each – despite begging a doctor responsible for allowing it to go ahead for mercy.

One of the men asked the doctor for mercy after being whipped five times. The doctor, however, said he was strong enough for the punishment to continue for another 95 lashes.

The two men were lashed and jailed for five years in the Muslim-majority Aceh province of Indonesia.

One of the men had been having sex with his underage step-daughter and the other man with his underage neighbour.

The hundred strike punishment is reserved under Sharia law for the very worst crimes.

One of the men begged for mercy, the other did not wail but simply endured the pain in silence.

Local prosecutor Isnwati said: “We’ll only postpone a caning if the doctors say there’s a serious health threat.”

Public whippings tend to be held outside a mosque after Friday prayers.

Flogging is common for various offences in the region of Aceh in Indonesia, including gambling, drinking alcohol, having gay sex or relations outside of marriage.

Human Rights groups have called the public caning as cruel and Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo has called for it to end.

However, the practice has support among Aceh’s Muslim population, around 98 per cent of its five million residents practice Islam.

Earlier this month a group of men caught gambling were publicly whipped in Indonesia’s conservative Muslim province of Aceh as crowds of onlookers cheered.

Aceh is the only province in Indonesia that imposes Islamic law.

Andreas Hariono from Human Rights Watch said: “Torture is torture where you do it in public, outside a mosque after Friday prayers, or inside a room, banning anyone from taking a picture.

“It’s still torture, it’s still traumatising.””

  29. Migrant Transport NGO Announces Plans for New Vessel to Resume Operations in 2019
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/12/12/migrant-transport-ngo-announces-plans-new-vessel-resume-operations-2019/

“Only days after ending migrant transport operations, NGO SOS Méditerranée has announced they will be replacing their current vessel with a new one to resume operations in the New Year.

The group released a statement this week saying that they had not entirely given up on their commitment to picking up migrants off the Libyan coast despite the announcement from their partner Doctors Without Borders (MSF) that the Aquarius would be ending operations last week.

The NGO blamed European governments for the shut down of operations saying, “This is the result of a sustained campaign, spearheaded by the Italian government and backed by other European states, to delegitimise, slander and obstruct aid organisations providing assistance to vulnerable people.”

According to SOS Méditerranée’s Director of Operations Frédéric Penard, “Foregoing Aquarius has been an extremely difficult decision, but it will allow our teams to resume search and rescue operations as quickly as possible.”

“We refuse to sit idly by while people continue to die at sea. As long as human beings continue to attempt the most dangerous crossing in the world,” he added.

The NGO then added that they are “actively exploring the options” for obtaining a new vessel after the Aquarius was forced to be stuck in port as countries refused to allow it to fly their national flags, which the organisation had previously blamed on the populist Italian government.

“Saving lives at sea is and will remain our mission and, today more than ever, we need the support of all citizens who still believe in our values of humanity at sea and wish to contribute to our efforts to find a new ship and a new flag,” said Sophie Beau, director of the French branch of SOS Méditerranée.

Populist Interior Minister Matteo Salvini has been one of the main driving forces behind stopping migrant transport ships in the Mediterranean after he refused NGO vessels access to Italian ports.

Over the last two years, pressure from the Italians has reduced the number of migrants coming to Italy by 80 percent.”

  30. UK Commitment to UN Migration Pact ‘All But Violates’ Govt Immigration Pledge: Think Tank (breitbart, Dec 12, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/12/12/uk-commitment-un-migration-compact-violates-govt-pledge-cut-immigration-think-tank/

“A leading immigration think tank has said that the United Kingdom’s adoption of the UN’s migration pact “all but violates” the government’s pledge to cut immigration.

On Monday, the UK and 163 other nations committed themselves to the United Nations’ Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration — the first attempt at the “global governance” and institutionalisation of migration.

The UK’s delegate at the UN conference in Marrakesh, Morocco, the Foreign Office’s minister of state Alistair Burt heralded the compact, claiming it “tackles” illegal immigration.

Migration Watch UK fired back at the assertion, saying, “This is the wrong move. The word ‘control’ does not appear in the final text of the Compact.”

“The Government committed, 3 times in election manifestos, to reduce immigration by a lot (a goal supported by 73% of the public according to one poll).

“How is signing a Compact which binds the UK into ‘enhanc[ing] the availability… of [migration] pathways’ compatible with that?”

Alp Mehmet, Vice Chairman of Migration Watch UK, told Breitbart London, “This Compact is misguided and one that the UK should not have signed.

“No government serious about reducing migration should be committing to it. As for our government, by signing up to the Compact, they are all but violating a manifesto promise to reduce immigration substantially.”

Migration Watch UK outlined in a briefing document published late November that the UN’s pledge “would stand in direct contradiction to the government’s three election manifesto commitments to reduce the level of net migration from the current 270,000 per year to less than 100,000.”

The document added, “The Compact appears to have been drafted by diplomats whose aim seems to be to ‘normalise’ mass immigration from the developing world to the West at a time when the public are very clear that they find the scale and pace of such flows to be unsustainable and unacceptable.

“The Government needs to reconnect with voters and demonstrate that they are serious about honouring their election promise.”…”

“A 17-year-old Afghan migrant has been arrested in connection to the murder of a 16-year-old Austrian girl after he attempted to buy a forged passport and flee the country.

Afghan migrant Saber Akhondzada, who came to Austria illegally in 2016, was arrested in Vienna by police on Tuesday evening after fleeing the city of Steyr in Upper Austria 48 hours before, Kronen Zeitung reports.

The failed asylum seeker is suspected of being involved in the murder of 16-year-old Michelle F. who was found dead of a stab wound to the lung by her mother and older sister under a pile of clothing on Sunday.

According to the mother, the Afghan migrant has been living with her daughter since the Thursday before the murder. Around ten hours passed between the murder and the discovery of the body, by which time Akhondzada is alleged to have fled the scene.

A nationwide manhunt was called to capture the Afghan migrant who had fled to Vienna where he is claimed to have attempted to make contact with a passport forger through an Afghan drug dealer…”

    • According to the mother, the Afghan migrant has been living with her daughter since the Thursday before the murder.

May as well hang the mother. Accessory before the fact.

  32. UN identifies suspected Iranian anti-tank guided missiles in Yemen (thedefensepost, Dec 12, 2018)
    https://thedefensepost.com/2018/12/12/un-identifies-suspected-iran-missiles-yemen/

“More suspected Iranian-made weapons have been found in Yemen, the United Nations says in a report that will be discussed Wednesday, December 12 by the Security Council.

The Gulf monarchies and United States accuse Iran of supporting Houthi rebels in Yemen – and see this as justification for the military campaign they have been waging in Yemen since 2015.

Iran supports the rebels politically but denies supplying them with arms.

The report from U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres’ office says his staff examined two container launch units for anti-tank guided missiles recovered by the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen.

“The Secretariat found that they had characteristics of Iranian manufacture,” the report said.

“The Secretariat also examined a partly disassembled surface-to-air missile seized by the Saudi-led coalition and observed that its features appeared to be consistent with those of an Iranian missile,” it added.

A probe into the origin of the weapons continues, it said.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was expected to attend Wednesday’s meeting on Iran, scheduled to start at 1500 GMT (10 a.m. ET).

Guterres’ report mainly addresses Iran’s obligations under the 2015 nuclear deal it struck with six major powers. The United States pulled out of the accord in May and has reimposed sanctions on Iran.

The report concludes that Iran continues to abide by the nuclear accord, under which it won sanctions relief in exchange for limiting its nuclear program.

The U.N. has said in the past that Yemen’s Houthi rebels have fired Iranian-made missiles at Saudi Arabia. But it said it could not be certain that these weapons were in fact supplied by Iran in what would be a violation of U.N. resolutions.

On Tuesday, France handed over to the Central African Republic 1,400 assault rifles that were seized from a dhow off Somalia in 2016. U.K.-based Conflict Armament Research, which works on the ground in active armed conflicts to document weapons at the point of use and track their sources back through the chains of supply, said the “weight of evidence” indicated that Iran was the likely source and Somalia and/or Yemen the intended destinations.”

  34. Terror Victim Baby Named Amiad Israel at Funeral, Laid to Rest in Jerusalem

The nation of Israel mourned Wednesday night with a broken-hearted young mother still lying critically injured in Shaare Zedek Medical Center, and her seriously wounded husband, whose tiny baby boy was named just before being laid to rest on the Mount of Olives.

Little Amiad Israel passed away from his multiple wounds earlier in the day, just three days after his mother was shot multiple times Sunday in a vicious terrorist attack outside the Jewish community of Ofra.

He was born at 30 weeks’ gestation in an emergency Caesarean section operation as doctors fought to save both his life and that of his mother after the attack.…

    • Border Police Special Forces Kill Ofra Terror Suspect Near Ramallah, Wound Another

Yamam, the Israeli Border Police special forces, have allegedly shot and killed at least one member of the terrorist cell responsible for the death of a baby born prematurely as a result of the shooting attack carried out Sunday night at a bus stop on Highway 60, outside the Jewish town of Ofra.

A second attacker was allegedly wounded in the firefight between Israeli Yamam forces and Palestinian Authority terrorists, according to a report broadcast Wednesday by Israel’s Channel 2 television news.

The shootout took place in the Palestinian Authority-controlled village of Surda, near the PA capital of Ramallah.

Sunday’s terror attack left seven people injured, including a 21-year-old pregnant woman who was critically wounded and whose baby died three days after being delivered prematurely by emergency Caesarean section in a bid to save his life and the life of his mother.…

The baby’s mother remains in critical condition; she was hit by gunfire at least once in the torso. The baby suffered “multiple wounds” according to a doctor at Shaare Zedek Medical Center’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The baby’s father was injured as well, along with five other Israelis.

    • Prof. Louis René Beres:
Israel, counter-terrorism and the future of immortality

Even if now ritualistic Palestinian claims of a hostile “occupation” were to be accepted as reasonable, which they are not, corollary claims of entitlement to “any means necessary” would remain patently false.

Consider the seemingly interminable issue of Palestinian terrorism, most recently made manifest in the Dec. 9, 2018 Ofra Junction (Samaria) shootings. Notwithstanding the conventional wisdom that this conflict is essentially about land or territory, the overriding expectation of Palestinian “martyrs” is actually about immortality. Indeed, life everlasting represents the very definition of what Palestinian martyrdom is all about.…

Without exception, those jihadist insurgents who would seek to justify willful injury and execution of Israeli/Jewish noncombatants in the name of “martyrdom” are defiling the law.

    • The barbaric murders of Israeli infants – a tragedy of our time

I no longer have words for this Islamist Nazism that besieges Israel every day, for the connivance of those who in Italy and in Europe finance and support the Palestinian cause built only on hatred and lies and terror.

…In the name of “resistance” to Israel, all Jews are legitimate goals. Even a pregnant mother.

The attack took place while the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was celebrated at the UN. That UN where, last week, the American resolution condemning Hamas terrorism had failed.

Israeli Jews are the only members of the international community whose human rights are not recognized, politically and morally. Not even those of an unborn baby. Between the people of Israel and its genocide – to which a good portion of mankind aspires to varying degrees – there is only the army with the star of David.

This barbaric, silent destruction of Israeli families is one of the great tragedies of our time. Let the earth be light to this little boy.
