  1. A.L… J.A.Z.E.E.R.A – Prejudice and Pride in Hungary: Inside the Far Right Radicalised Youth

Hungary was the first country to close its borders when around one million refugees arrived on European soil in 2015. The country’s far-right Fidesz party swiftly positioned itself as the self-proclaimed defender of “Christian Europe” under the leadership of anti-immigrant nationalist leader, Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

Following a global trend, growing numbers of Hungary’s youth are joining far-right wing and neo-Nazi movements, such as the Highwaymen’s Army (Betyarsereg), to fight for a way of life they believe is under threat.

The Highwaymen are affiliated with the country’s far-right political movement, Force and Determination, and believe in racially-justified violence. They went to ‘help’ the military forces at the country’s southern borders when migrants passed through Hungary on the Balkan route in 2015. And some of their members are currently on trial for intimidating Roma.

“We never prepare for a fight, we are ready for a fight,” says Adam, a 27-year-old who joined the Highwaymen in 2016. “I like being a member of the Highwaymen’s Army because it means togetherness … In order to apply, you obviously have to be Hungarian, and white. Jews should avoid us. They’re not only not allowed to join, but if he asked to join the Highwaymen’s Army I would smack him in the face.”

Political analyst Bulscu Hunyadi believes that “most of these youngsters do not join far-right organisations because they are obsessed with the ideology, because they are neo-Nazis per se. Most of the time they join these organisations because they want to join a community, they want to belong to a group of people. And step by step, of course, they start believing in this ideology.”

Botond, an 18-year-old high school graduate with ambitions to forge a career in Hungary’s far-right politics, is still looking for a movement to join and is determined to defend Hungary against liberalism and multiculturalism.

“I feel like I have to fight, fight for my country … There is a war against the white race. Nowadays, you can say whatever you want except if you are heterosexual, if you are white and if you are a Christian,” says Botond, who goes on regular vigilante patrols in the city in search of what he calls “degenerates”.

However, this perceived threat is a “myth … because nobody is threatening Hungary, we don’t have immigrants at all, zero immigration, but this is the one political topic everybody’s discussing,” explains Gaspar Tamas, a philosopher and political scientist.

“If you want to learn what the world might look like very soon, regard Hungary. And Hungary’s an extreme of the predicament the whole world is going through.”

  2. al jazeera – Stranded in Bosnia, Muslim refugees desperate to reach Western Europe | Al Jazeera English

Although crossing the Drina River between Serbia and Bosnia has become more dangerous in the cold temperatures of the winter months, Bosnia is experiencing a large influx of Iranian refugees attempting the crossing.

The refugees are willing to undertake the sometimes deadly crossing because they hope Bosnia will be one step closer to the European Union.

The Iranians join the other refugees and migrants in Bosnia, often beaten and robbed by smugglers or police in the countries they have traversed to reach this point, only to be turned back at the EU border, leaving them stranded in the Balkan nation.

Al Jazeera’s David Chater reports from the town of Zvornik on Bosnia’s border with Serbia.

  3. Swine Fever Adds to China’s Economic Headaches

BEIJING (AP)Chinese pig farmers, already reeling from rising feed costs in Beijing’s tariff fight with U.S. President Donald Trump, face a new blow from an outbreak of African swine fever that has sent an economic shockwave through the countryside.

First detected in August, the disease has killed 1 million pigs, prompting authorities to restrict shipments of most of China’s 700 million swine, even though nearly all are still healthy. That has disrupted supplies of pork, China’s staple meat, to big cities while prices collapsed in areas with an oversupply of pigs that farmers are barred from shipping to other provinces. (More at link)

NR: This is the sort of “knock-on” effect that could bring Communist China’s economic house of cards tumbling down.

    • It is, with this happening it won’t take much more to cause the collapse of Red China and with luck the removal of the Communist Party. Things are going to get interesting in the Far East.

Paving the way: An accelerator on a microchip

Electrical engineers in the accelerator physics group at TU Darmstadt have developed a design for a laser-driven electron accelerator so small it could be produced on a silicon chip. It would be inexpensive and with multiple applications. The design, which has been published in Physical Review Letters, is now being realised as part of an international collaboration.

Particle accelerators are usually large and costly, but that will soon change if researchers have their way. The Accelerator on a Chip International Program (AChIP), funded by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation in the U.S., aims to create an electron accelerator on a silicon chip. The fundamental idea is to replace accelerator parts made of metal with glass or silicon, and to use a laser instead of a microwave generator as an energy source. Due to glass’s higher electric field load capacity, the acceleration rate can be increased and thus the same amount of energy can be transmitted to the particles within a shorter space, making the accelerator shorter by a factor of approximately 10 than traditional accelerators delivering the same energy.

Paging Doctor McCoy. Your tricorder is ready for pickup.

But seriously folks, the number of different analytical functions that this tiny directed energy source could accomplish would fry your brains. Everything from assessing proteins to measuring molecular densities in materials or liquids. Hit the link and at the page’s top is a SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) micrograph that makes things instantly apparent.

  8. Amazing Crusader discovery: Gothic hall found at knights’ hilltop castle

Archaeologists have discovered a Gothic hall at a medieval Crusader fortress in today’s northern Israel.

The ceremonial hall found in Galilee’s Montfort Castle offers a fascinating glimpse into the turbulent Crusader era in the Holy Land, which began in the 11th century and lasted until the 13th century.

Built by German Crusaders from the Teutonic Order on lands purchased in the 1220s, the castle was used by the knights for less than 50 years. The fortress fell to Mamluk troops from Egypt after a brief siege in the summer of 1271. The castle was then wrecked by Mamluk Sultan Baibars to prevent it from being used again.

  9. After watching now half of this hard-hitting documentary, it is easy to understand why the intellectuals who made it are convinced that the future trend of Europe is shaped by Victor Orban and his 700 drunken pot-bellied pigs. Having spritually captured the V4, Austria and now Italy in Salvini, we see this band of ass-kicking bulletheads to be the Left’s manufactured bogeyman in-the-making. Hey, they even managed to fool Bibi! Pretty much the same as blaming Jews for all the world’s ills while the Poroshenkos of our planet lunch on squab. Remember, why did God invent whiskey? To stop the Irish from taking over the world. So why then did God invent Palinka?

    • … while the Poroshenkos of our planet lunch on squab.

As the literary genius, Oscar Wilde was known to say:

“To this world I contribute my smidgen
I.eat a squab lest it become a pigeon.”

So why then did God invent Palinka?

To ensure that Central European men only encounter fruitiness from a bottle.

      • Add this in with the article about the swine fever, the picture it shows isn’t good for China.

It’s got to be fake swine fever. If it was the real thing, the Politburo’s insatiable hogs would be dropping like flies.

The drop in GDP, corporate flight, departing capital, and swine fever. Now, imagine how much worse things must actually be…

        • They stand a real good chance of collapsing, and Xi may be gambler enough to start a war trying to seize enough treasure to keep the CCP in power.

      • When I was in Egypt, my highly educated hosts told me that swine-flesh was physically addictive. (They knew I didn’t eat it, so I wouldn’t be offended.)

That’s why Eaters of the Hog need it wherever they went. Stationed in the Gulf, soldiers simply HAD TO HAVE their porky breakfasts. Even knowing the smell nauseated the natives, they had to have pig food.

Such extreme social stress in China over the prospect of a vegetarian diet for a period of time? That seems to confirm the Egyptian theory.

    BEIJING (AFP) –

Jack Ma, founder of Chinese tech giant Alibaba, is among the world’s richest people but he has now emerged as a member of another club: China’s 89-million-strong Communist Party.

The billionaire’s Communist bona fides were revealed by the People’s Daily, the party’s official mouthpiece, in an article praising contributors to China’s development.

He is not the first nor likely the last Chinese super-rich capitalist to join the party, which counts property titan Xu Jiayin and Wanda Group founder Wang Jianlin among its billionaire members.

Richard: Well Duh, when you are in a totalitarian state after a certain amount of success you have to join the party that supports the ruling ideology. In China its the Communist Party, in Nazi Germany it was the Nazi Party and since Nazi Germany had a law saying that all men of a certain age had to be a member of the military it often meant joing the Honorary SS. People with out much knowledg3e of history and politics don’t understand what is happening in totalitarian nations. This doesn’t mean he doesn’t believe in some form of communism he may. Or he may be doing this to keep the Communist Party off his back and out of his wallet.

Trump’s threat promise must be giving Mexico’s federal government brown trousers. While wire remittances are a major part of the Mexican economy, there is a huge amount of hard currency that flows across the border in the form of under-the-table wages imported by day workers with jobs in the USA.

Mexican authorities will start machine-gunning these cadres of caravan combatants before they’ll ever endure having Trump shut off that cash spigot.

      • It is going to get interesting in Mexico as they realize that Trump will shut down the Border and cause the Mexican economy to collapse before he will let the US be invaded by the mass migration movement. In the next couple of years Mexico is going to have to fortify their Southern Border. With Trumps Wall that will give the US Border defense in depth.

“A few thousand people have rallied in the Serb-populated north of Kosovo demanding that the government abolish a 100 percent tax it has slapped on all goods imported from Serbia.

The rally in the divided town of Mitrovica reflects tensions that recently soared between the former war foes. Serbia does not recognize Kosovo’s 2008 declaration of independence.

Kosovo imposed the tax last week in apparent retaliation after it failed to become a member of the international police organization, Interpol, following intense lobbying by Serbia.

Kosovo Serbs in the north insist the tax has affected the area. which remains closely linked to Serbia. The protesters on Tuesday carried banners reading “Stop violence by Pristina” or “Shame on you, we don’t have oxygen.”

  16. Germany: Two Afghan refugees are said to have raped a 15-year-old girl -The incident is kept under lock and key by the municipal and police authorities because they fear reactions like those in Freiburg at the time+++
Two Afghan refugees are said to have abused a girl (15 years old) last Tuesday in Königs Wusterhausen ( the state of Brandenburg). Mohammad F. (21 years old) and an acquaintance are said to have been out with the girl, then dragged her to a public toilet at a playground. There he is said to have raped the victim.According to police, two days after the crime, on Thursday afternoon, the teenager came to the police station with relatives to report the crime. The victim is said to have been traumatized to such an extent that the interrogation had to be interrupted and could only be continued on Friday. In the second interrogation, the girl also gave the name of the main perpetrator. On Friday evening, investigators arrested Mohammad F. – the suspect has been in custody ever since.According to the B.Z. newspaper, the accomplice is an 18-year-old friend of the suspect. The Afghan came to Germany as an unaccompanied minor refugee and is known to the police for assault and battery. According to the head of the refugee home in which the youth is accommodated, the 18-year-old is currently on “holiday” in another federal state. He is said to have detained the victim during the crime. He is still under investigation. Why has the public not yet been informed about the incident? A police spokesman to B.Z.: “At the time ( editor’s note: Friday) a press release wouldn’t have made any sense, since we couldn’t name the perpetrator yet”.A policeman, on the other hand, comments on the B.Z.: “The incident is kept under lock and key by the municipal authorities and the police because they fear reactions like those in Freiburg.

Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency says the Sunni preacher who had worked to reconcile Sunnis and Shiites, members of the two biggest sects in Islam, was shot in the back with a hunting rifle on Tuesday.

The report says the cleric, Abdolghafour Jamalzai, was outside a mosque in the town of Gorgan around 300 kilometres northeastern of Tehran.

The report didn’t say how many gunmen were involved or speculate on the possible motives for the assassination. No group claimed responsibility for the attack.

  18. Austrian Chapel to Broadcast Call to Prayer Throughout December to Show Islam ‘Is Religion of Peace’ (breitbart, Nov 27, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/11/27/austria-chapel-muezzin-islam-peace/

“A chapel in Linz, Austria, is set to blast out the Muslim call to prayer each day throughout the Christmas period as part of an “art installation” aimed at emphasising “that Islam is a religion of peace.”

At certain times each day between December 2nd and 23rd, people strolling through the centre of Linz will be treated to “a special kind of audiovisual experience,” when recordings of muezzin calls, which were taped in Algeria, Mozambique, Istanbul, and Singapore, are played from the chapel of the Upper Austrian Cultural Quarter’s Ursuline Church.

The organisers behind ‘ADHINA’ say the installation “succeeds in linking the aesthetics of different realms of reality,” when visitors hear “the muezzin call as an Islamic ritual” melding together with “the everyday sounds of a secular-urban world,”, as they walk past the “Christian sacral architecture” at the site, where the baroque buildings were founded as a monastery.

By staging this “acoustic intervention” during Advent, when Austrians are preparing for Christmas, the ‘sound artists’ behind the project, Werner Puntigam and Klaus Hollinetz, “want to create awareness that Islam and Christianity are religions of peace or want to be,” according to promotional material for the project.

With 8 per cent of the population declaring themselves to be Muslim in 2016, Islam is the second most widely professed faith in Austria, where tensions between the religious community and the formerly secular value of freedom of speech were highlighted in a case at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) last month.

Ruling that Austria was justified in convicting and fining a woman for having said that Muhammad was a paedophile for marrying a young child, the international body asserted that the EU country’s courts had “carefully balanced her right to freedom of expression with the right of others to have their religious feelings protected.”

Earlier this year, the conservative-populist coalition announced it would be launching a crackdown on political Islam in the country, shutting down a number of extremist-linked, radical mosques and expelling up to 60 Islamist imams and their families. The country is also one of a number of nations across Europe who have banned the burqa and other facial veils associated with the Islamic faith.”

  20. UN says Italy ‘criminalising’ NGOs

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) expressed concern for the “continued smear campaign in Italy against NGOs.” The new immigration measures proposed by the government as well as a climate of hate are threatening the rights of migrants in Italy, according to the UN.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights expressed “concern” for the “continued smear campaigns against civil society organizations engaged in search and rescue operations in the Mediterranean” as well as the “criminalization of the work of migrant rights defenders”.

A group of UN experts said the Italian government, among other things, has made it practically impossible for NGO ships to continue to rescue migrants, which has caused a rise in drownings and disappearances. “Saving lives is not a crime. Protecting human dignity is not a crime,” they said.

    Italian government must “change course”

“The new measures and a climate of hate threaten migrants’ rights in Italy,” the UN experts said. They are “urgently calling on the government” to change course. “The tightening on migrant laws proposed by Italy will have a serious impact on their lives, and it is cause for serious concern,” the experts said.

“During the most recent electoral campaign, some politicians fuelled a public discourse unashamedly embracing racist and xenophobic anti-immigrant and anti-foreigner rhetoric. Such speech incites hatred and discrimination,” the experts said.

    “Removing protecting increases vulnerability”

Since coming into power, the Italian government has implemented the anti-migrant and exclusionary measures it campaigned upon, the experts said. “Removing protection measures will increase migrants’ vulnerability. They will be at greater risk from traffickers and other criminal groups,” they said.

While acknowledging the challenges Italy faces due to the absence of an effective European-wide system of solidarity, the UN experts said this did not justify violations of human rights. “The government must adhere to the values enshrined in the Italian constitution, and the international commitments it signed up to,” they said.

  21. Police Warn Mother Over Sharing Picture of Alleged Child Molesting Migrant Male (breitbart, Nov 27, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/11/27/police-warn-woman-posting-picture-migrant-allegedly-molested-12-year-old-daughter/

“German police in Freiburg gave a stern warning to the public after a woman posted a picture of a man on social media she believed had molested her 12-year-old daughter in order to enlist the help of the public to identify the man.

The alleged sex attack took place aboard a train from Freiburg to Schliengen and saw a man, later reportedly identified as a Gambian migrant, approach the woman’s 12-year-old daughter and touch her sexually, Badische Zeitung reports.

The mother was able to get a picture of the man while he was on the train and posted the picture to Facebook, asking for users to help her identify who he was.

Within 24 hours the post had been shared 10,000 times and resulted in the police warning her that publishing the photo was unlawful.

Freiburg police published their own Facebook post with the image of the man pixelated and said, “We point out that the publication of portrait photos without the consent of the depicted is a criminal offence and can result in prosecution by the police.”

Several days later police arrested the suspect, identified as a 34-year-old from Gambia, with Katharina Kessler, spokeswoman for the Federal Police Inspectorate of Weil am Rhein, noting that the pictures did help the investigators identify the man.

“The images were a clue that led to the investigation of the suspect,” she said, but did not add any more detail as to where he was arrested.

The attack is just the latest involving migrant suspects in Freiburg, which saw the alleged brutal gang rape of an 18-year-old girl in October that led to the arrest of seven Syrian asylum seekers in connection with the attack.

The city was also the location of the rape and murder of student Maria Ladenburger, whose attacker Hussein Khavari was sentenced to life in prison earlier this year in March.”

  22. Ottawa- [… Muslim…] man who stabbed his two sisters to death found not criminally responsible

A man who killed his two sisters was found not criminally responsible on Monday for the December 2016 double homicide, with court hearing he experienced visual and auditory hallucinations and that he felt like he “was attacking the kids of a monster.”

Musab A-Noor pleaded not guilty by reason of a mental disorder to murder charges laid against him after he fatally stabbed his two sisters, Asma A-Noor, 32, and Nasiba A-Noor, 29.

In December 2016, Musab, then 29, was living with his mother and three sisters in a townhouse on McCarthy Road. He had had three prior dealings with police, all for mental-health related reasons. Just a month before, his family took him to see a doctor. A further visit was planned.

On the night of Dec. 16, a third sister left for the airport to board a flight to British Columbia to visit family. She missed her flight and returned to the family home where she found her slain siblings, Asma and Nasiba. They had been stabbed repeatedly.

The Somali community remembered the slain sisters as “influential and inspiring.” Nasiba taught Islamic studies to girls at the Tarbiyah Learning Centre in Nepean.

Those in their lives noted their devotion to family, community and the koran.

As news of the homicides and the large police presence in the city’s south end broke on a Friday night, reporters arrived on scene. Aedan Helmer, a reporter with this newspaper, spotted Musab standing on train tracks a short distance away from the home. Musab had his hands in his pockets and was inappropriately dressed for a cold December night. Helmer notified police who then arrested Musab.

Musab was “experiencing significant psychiatric difficulty and stress,” deputy Crown attorney Brian Holowka told the court.

Defence lawyer Samir Adam told the court his client was “gravely ill at the time.”

Once charged, Musab was catatonic and was deemed unfit to stand trial. He was eventually sent for medical treatment. Court has previously heard that the treatment included sedative and anti-psychotic drugs. Yet when the medication began to take effect, Musab entered into a deep depression, which “deprived him of the ability to contribute or instruct counsel,” Holowka said. He remained unfit to stand trial.

Ontario Superior Court Justice Lynn Ratushny ruled that it was “crystal clear” from the medical evidence and assessments filed in the case that Musab was experiencing an “acute psychotic state of mind.”

Ratushny told Musab that “this has been a terrible tragedy for you and your family.” SHE OFFERED HER CONDOLENCES TO HIM …. SHE OFFERED HER CONDOLENCES TO HIM … .

    “Thank you,” he said.

Musab will remain at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre and will be monitored by the Ontario Review Board, the body that oversees anyone who is found not criminally responsible or unfit to stand trial for offences because of a mental disorder.

He will also submit a DNA sample that will be stored in a databank.

Lead Ottawa police homicide investigator Det. Kevin Jacobs said the tragic case has “destroyed a family.”

“The A-Noor family have simply been unable to deal with the awful events which occurred in their home on Dec. 16, 2016.”

The review board will determine the scope and duration of Musab’s treatment and will consider risk factors BEFORE HE’S LET BACK INTO THE COMMUNITY , Jacobs said.

“It is sad that Musab’s actions took away the lives of his sisters Asma and Nasiba, people he looked up to and revered,” Jacobs said.

The A-Noor family continues to ask for privacy.

A 36-year-old Syrian man has been stuck in transit at Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 for more than a month.

Hassan al-Kontar had been living and working in the United Arab Emirates since the Syrian war broke out in 2011, but was deported to Kuala Lumpur after the Syrian embassy refused to renew his passport.

He tried to flee to Ecuador and Cambodia – the two countries that granted visa-free access to Syrians, but both countries sent him back to the Malaysian capital.

Incoming head of House Oversight Committee: We are required by law to let caravan in
By LU Staff November 27, 2018

When the new Congress convenes in January, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) will be replaced by Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) as chairman of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, the main investigative committee in the House of Representatives. If you’re curious about Cummings’s qualifications for the post, consider some of his past actions.

Take, for instance, his email in 2012 and 2013 to then-IRS Exempt Organizations Unit chief Lois Lerner requesting (and receiving) confidential tax information on True the Vote, a conservative PAC. Or his claim in 2013 that Postal Service’s decision to eliminate Saturday delivery was racist.

But why look to the distant past when the congressman’s appearance this past Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” provides a window into the congressman’s qualifications. Cummings told host Chuck Todd that the migrants who stormed the border at the San Ysidro port of entry should be permitted to enter the U.S., claiming “That’s the law.”

  26. Tear gas on the border: Actually, used so often (under Obama), organizers were well aware it was inevitable
    By J.E. Dyer November 27, 2018

Liberty Unyielding noted in an earlier post on Monday that the media seemed to have trouble remembering the use of tear gas on border-crashers near San Diego five years ago, by the Obama administration.

Outraged pundits were instead excoriating Trump for the use of pepper spray on Sunday when a group of over 500 migrants tried an illegal surge through the border fence, pelting U.S. Border Patrol agents with projectiles.

The Washington Times did some research into Homeland Security’s records on the matter, and discovered that the use of both tear gas and pepper spray at the U.S. border has been routine and even frequent for years, including during the Obama administration.

Use of tear gas occurred an average of once a month in the Obama years.

  27. A Judge Will Likely Rule Against Obamacare. Here’s What Should Happen Next.

A federal judge is expected to rule soon on whether Obamacare’s individual mandate is constitutional without a tax penalty to enforce it, and if it is not, whether the rest of Obamacare’s provisions (including its insurance regulations) are no longer operative.

If the judge rules against Obamacare, as many predict, brace yourself for a tsunami of hysteria. Washington’s chattering class will proclaim that the apocalypse is fast upon us, with millions of Americans with chronic illnesses at risk of losing their insurance coverage.

But the ruling would do nothing of the sort, even if the Supreme Court were to uphold it. In the near term, it most likely will have no effect at all.

What it would do, however, is give states new space to create policies that benefit their own residents—the sick, the healthy, and the poor. For that reason, Congress should resist the urge to act in haste.

  28. The migrant caravan just ruined its close-up

The caravan was not ready for its close-up.

Protests turned into riots on Sunday as hundreds of Central American migrants rushed a border fence and tried storming their way into the United States. They waved flags from their country while trying to enter this one illegally. They chucked rocks at U.S. Border Patrol. They chanted “Yes We Can.”

  30. A Tiny Minority of Half a Million Jihadists
Islamic terrorists are the world’s eighth largest military.

Islamic terrorists are a “tiny minority of extremists”. That’s the message we’ve been hearing ever since 9/11. They’re only a handful of “guys in a cave” or a few “lone wolves” radicalized over the internet.

How tiny is that tiny minority?

According to a study by the Center for Strategic and International Studies, there are 230,000 Jihadists.

Put this tiny minority of extremists together in a city and you would have Boise, Idaho, or Richmond, Virginia, or Des Moines, Iowa. But that’s not a roster of Muslim civilians who support Islamic terrorism, just active members of terrorist groups. And so a better point of comparison is to national armies.

At 230,000, Sunni Islamic Jihadists outnumber the British Armed Forces (149,000), the French Armed Forces (117,000), and Germany’s Bundeswehr (179,753). That should be troubling since those are some of the militaries and countries on the front lines of Europe’s reluctant fight against Islamic incursions.

The list of Sunni fighters has a lot of questions marks and is incomplete. Sunnis outnumber Shiites, but under the Iranian umbrella, Shiites have fielded sizable terror forces in Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen.

Israeli Public TV Journalist Attacked in Berlin
Anti-Semitism is still alive and well in Berlin, despite the best efforts of the German government to fight it.

The Jewish Press, November 26, 2018:

An Israeli reporter was the target of a vicious anti-Semitic attack Monday evening in Berlin while trying to file a video report for Israel’s Hebrew-language Kan public television network.

“I just had a nice day at work,” wrote Antonia Yamin, the Europe Correspondent for Kan, the Israeli public broadcasting network, in a post on the Twitter social networking site.

  32. ‘Vagina Monologues’ Canceled At University Because ‘Not All Women Have Vaginas.’ Conservative Twitter Has Some Thoughts.

Eastern Michigan University (EMU) canned its production of “The Vagina Monologues” because of its lack of “diversity and inclusion.” Apparently, not all women have vaginas.

The school’s Women’s Resource Center (WRC) informed students via email that, following an evaluation of survey responses about the production, “The Vagina Monologues” was canceled.

“Survey respondents opposing the production consistently indicated they were concerned that the play centers on cisgender women, that the play’s version of feminism excludes some women, including trans women, and that overall, ‘The Vagina Monologue’ lacks diversity and inclusion,” reports Ann Arbor News.

  33. Top Dem Calls On United Nations To Intervene At Border With Migrant Caravan

A top Democrat has upped the ante on the hysterical reaction to the Border Patrol using tear gas to prevent migrants from storming the southern border and is now calling for the United Nations to come to the rescue.

Rep. Barbara Lee of California decried the “atrocity” of the U.S. attempting to protect the border and issued a plea for the blue helmets to march to the rescue.

    Rep. Barbara Lee

    @RepBarbaraLee

The tear-gassing of women and children at the border is an atrocity. It’s a violation of human rights. And it is a grotesque betrayal of our founding promise, as a nation built by immigrants.

I’ve called for @UN inspectors on the border, and I reiterate that call today.

  34. Indonesia’s New Heresy Reporting App Draws Condemnation From Rights Groups (sputniknews, Nov 28, 2018)
    https://sputniknews.com/society/201811281070185124-indonesia-new-heresy-app-draws-condemnation/

“A new Indonesian government app that allows the public to report suspected cases of religious heresy is being condemned by human rights groups, who warn that the app could lead to the persecution of minorities in the country with the largest Muslim population in the world.

The app, which is called “Smart Pakem,” was created by Jakarta’s Prosecutor’s Office. It was launched Sunday in the Google Play store, according to the Bangkok Post. However, searches for the app in the Indonesian and US Google Play stores do not currently yield any results.

Users of the app can report any people or groups that do not follow the canonical views of Indonesia’s six officially recognized religions: Islam, Hinduism, Protestantism, Catholicism, Confucianism and Buddhism. The purpose of the app, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, is to enhance the current heresy reporting process.

In addition, the app features a list of religious edicts and blacklisted organizations so users can more easily file complaints, instead of going through the lengthier process of sending a written complaint to the Prosecutor’s Office.

“The objective… is to provide easier access to information about the spread of beliefs in Indonesia, to educate the public and to prevent them from following doctrines from an individual or a group that are not in line with the regulations,” Nirwan Nawawi, a spokesperson for the Prosecutor’s Office, told AFP in a recent statement.

However, human rights groups are concerned that the app could lead to discrimination against religious minorities in the Southeast Asian country, where people of non-recognized faiths have long suffered persecution.

“This is going from bad to worse — another dangerous step to discriminate [against] religious minorities in Indonesia,” Human Rights Watch researcher Andreas Harsono recently told AFP.

Earlier this year, a mob destroyed the homes of a small community of the Ahmadiyya Islamic minority in Lombok, an Indonesian island east of Bali and west of Sumbawa, after the Indonesian Ulema Council — the country’s Muslim clerical body — deemed the sect heretical, the Bangkok Post reported.

This summer, an ethnic Chinese Buddhist living in North Sumatra was sentenced to 18 months in prison for blasphemy for complaining that the Muslim call to prayer from her neighborhood mosque, repeated five times a day, was too loud, Reuters reported at the time.”
