Accord UfM-Center for Mediterranean Integration (ansamed, Nov 14, 2018)
http://www.ansamed.info/ansamed/en/news/sections/economics/2018/11/14/accord-ufm-center-for-mediterranean-integration_db1328c0-1072-465e-8d1c-ef537a5529c2.html
“The Center for Mediterranean Integration and the Union for the Mediterranean on Wednesday signed a protocol of agreement to launch a three-year-long cooperation aimed at promoting the development and integration of the Euro-Mediterranean region for peace, stability and prosperity.
The partnership, according to a statement released by the UfM, is launched to mark the 10-year anniversary of the two organizations that will put together their respective fields: political dialogue platforms for the UfM and technical-operational experience for CMI.
”We believe that a close cooperation with CMI – explained Nasser Kamel, secretary general of the Union for the Mediterranean – is evidently a strong resource for the entire region. The know-how of the integration center, together with our strong engagement for regional integration, will strengthen our impact on the area”.
”The moment has come – stressed the director of CMI, Blanca Moreno-Dodson – to boost our partnership with UfM. The area poses strong challenges but also has great potential, especially given the young age of its population. It is essential to exploit our complementary capacity and to join efforts to bring our common stakeholders to work together and exchange information. This will help us unblock the Mediterranean’s potential”. The two organizations will work together on short-term priorities as well as on long-term projects: the cooperation provides for the joint organization of conferences, workshops and training courses, as well as joint studies and research.”
Can someone please explain what all this BS means? It is complete jibberish. Sounds like a plan to bring in more invaders.

Serbia’s Muslim minority seeks cooperation with Turkey (AA, Nov 14, 2018)
https://www.aa.com.tr/en/europe/serbias-muslim-minority-seeks-cooperation-with-turkey/1311430
“Head of Bosniak National Council (BNV) in Serbia said the representative body needs cooperation with Turkey in all fields.
Sulejman Ugljanin’s remarks came during an interview with Anadolu Agency after he declared victory to continue as the head of the BNV in Serbia’s Nov. 4 elections for members of the national councils of national minorities.
Ugljanin said there is a deep connection between Sandzak Bosniaks and Turkey. The Sandzak is a Muslim majority region in southern Serbia.
“There are about 3 million people of Sandzak origin living in Turkey. Our cooperation is at the highest level. We need to cooperate with Turkey, which is among the top 20 most advanced countries in the world, in all fields,” said Ugljanin.
Ugljanin underlined the good relations Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic have, noting that good relations are very important for Bosniaks and they expect concrete results from these relations.
Ugljanin also said the problems of the Bosnian minority in Serbia could only be solved with the help of the international community.
He said the use of the Bosnian language in the Sandzak region was progressing slowly and that there was a problem with supplying schoolchildren with books in their own language.
“Our children were discriminated. Books were not given to them. With the support of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency Presidency (TIKA) these books were received,” said Ugljanin.
Ugljanin also said that children of Sandzak should be encouraged to study in Turkish universities and employed by Turkish companies in Serbia.
He said some state officials in Serbia claim the Bosniak people were “not mature enough” while addressing the international arena, and that state institutions practice “an oppressive approach” to the Sandzak region.
“No one has been punished for the death of the Bosniaks in this region. Even a simple traffic incident is charged with 10 days of detention, while the killing of Bosniaks is not even counted as a crime,” said Ugljanin.
According to Ugljanin, the state of Serbia has been treating Sandzak region as “stepchild” since the 1990s, noting that there is no cooperation with state institutions at any level.
Turkey gives great importance to the Sandzak region as it plays a role in bridging the relations between the two nations and keeps the cultural ties at its strongest.”

ISIS members hailing from Turkey, Pakistan, Tajikistan arrested in Kabul (khaama, Nov 14, 2018)
https://www.khaama.com/isis-members-hailing-from-turkey-pakistan-tajikistan-arrested-in-kabul-02743/

The statement further added that the detained individuals originally hail from Turkey, Tajikistan, and Pakistan.

The anti-government armed militant and terrorist groups, including ISIS loyalista and Taliban militants have not commented in this regard so far.”
Amnesty Calls on Iran to Disclose Fate of Ahwazi Detainees (aawsat, Nov 14, 2018)
https://aawsat.com/english/home/article/1462866/amnesty-calls-iran-disclose-fate-ahwazi-detainees
“Amnesty International called on Iranian authorities to “immediately” disclose the fate and whereabouts of hundreds of Ahwaz minority detainees, who are being held without access to their families of lawyers.
In the last few days, Ahwazi Arab activists outside Iran have told Amnesty International that 22 men, including civil society activist Mohammad Momeni Timas, have been killed in secret.
Since September 24, up to 600 Ahwazi Arabs have been detained incommunicado in a wave of arrests following a deadly armed attack that took place in Ahvaz, Khuzestan province, two days earlier, said Amnesty.
“If confirmed, the secret executions of these men would be not only a crime under international law but also an abhorrent violation of their right to life and a complete mockery of justice, even by the shocking standards of Iran’s judicial system,” said Philip Luther, Amnesty International’s Research and Advocacy Director for the Middle East and North Africa.
“It is difficult to imagine that these individuals could have received a fair trial within merely a few weeks of their arrests, let alone had the opportunity to appeal death sentences.”
One of those reported to have been secretly executed is Ahmad Heydari, a 30-year-old ceramics shopkeeper who was arrested within a few days of the armed attack in Ahvaz.
His family heard no news of his fate or whereabouts until November 11, when they received a telephone call summoning them to the information center of the Ministry of Intelligence in Ahvaz. There, they were given his death certificate and told he had been executed on November 8, said Amnesty.
Officials said they were not handing over his body for burial and told the family they were not allowed to hold a memorial service for him.
By contrast, the governor of Khuzestan province told the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency on November 12 that reports of 22 detainees being executed are “complete lies”. He also said that those arrested in connection with the Ahvaz attack have been charged, but gave no indication that any of them had been brought to trial, said Amnesty.
“In the absence of any information about the whereabouts of the detainees feared killed, the governor’s blanket denial will provide little comfort to families who have been unable to see or hear from their relatives since their arrests,” said Luther.
“The reported executions heighten our fears that the hundreds of other Ahwazi Arabs in detention in the wake of the Ahvaz attack may face death sentences or other harsh treatment.”
Amnesty International called on the Iranian authorities “to reveal the whereabouts of all the detainees without further delay and provide information about what legal procedures have taken place to date. The authorities must give the families and their lawyers access to the detainees and ensure they are protected from torture and other ill-treatment.”
Amnesty International also called on the authorities “to release immediately and unconditionally any Ahwazi Arabs held solely for peacefully exercising their right to freedom of expression, association or peaceful assembly or solely on account of their ethnic identity.”
“While the Iranian authorities have a duty to bring to justice anyone suspected of criminal responsibility for the attack in Ahvaz in fair trials, they must not use this as an excuse to carry out a purge against members of Iran’s persecuted Ahwazi Arab ethnic minority,” said Luther.”

Libya migrants barricade themselves on container ship fearing life on land (alaraby, Nov 15, 2018)
https://www.alaraby.co.uk/english/news/2018/11/15/libya-migrants-refuse-to-disembark-fearing-life-on-land
“A group of migrants have barricaded themselves in a container ship off the Libyan coast, refusing to disembark due to their dangers on land.
Ninety-three migrants were picked up on a raft in the Mediterranean on Friday and taken back to the Libyan port city of Misrata.
Although two of the 93 migrants agreed to disembark, the others refused to leave saying the country is too dangerous and have barricaded themselves in the shipping container ship for the past five days.
The captain and crew taking refuge on the upper decks of the Nivin, which was heading towards Misrata.
One of the group recorded a message from the ship, saying he wanted it documented so international organisations would aid the migrants.
He said most of the group, which includes children, were ill and did not have food or water.
Libya’s coast guard had no immediate comment on the situation, according to AP.
There is just one rescue ship patrolling the Mediterranean, following a backlash against migration in Europe.
European ports have meanwhile refused to accept in rescued migrants, while ships have become more cautious about picking up refugees at sea.
Libya has become a key trafficking point for migrants from Africa hoping to reach Europe.
Human rights groups have described terrible conditions for migrants in Libya, with cases of slavery reported in the country.”
UAE, a land of tolerance: All you need to know (gulfnews, Nov 15, 2018)
https://gulfnews.com/uae/uae-a-land-of-tolerance-all-you-need-to-know-1.1542205328478
“Dubai: In the UAE Cabinet, there sits a Minister of State for Tolerance. In Dubai, one of the most beautiful bridges is called the “Bridge of Tolerance”.
The UAE is a land of tolerance, not just in word or talk but in deed.
The country actively promotes it. Conferences, programmes, activities — even sports tournaments — are held extolling tolerance as a value. At the institutional level, the country has adopted a National Tolerance Programme.
Anti-discrimination and anti-hate laws and centres to counter extremism had been set up. It’s not by coincidence. It’s by deliberate action and inspiration: The UAE spreads tolerance, moderation and respect for others as practised by the country’s founding father, the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
And the country continues to promote these values throughout the Arab region and the world. It’s no wonder then that it continues to attract citizens from around the world, but especially from the Arab region.
“To treat every person, no matter what his creed or race, as a special soul, is a mark of Islam.”
– The late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan
Every November 16, the country observes the International Day of Tolerance. This week, the UAE Ministry of Tolerance holds the country’s first National Festival of Tolerance from November 9 to 16.
Tolerance is synonymous with the UAE. It is a fundamental value of our people and an essential element for our development and prosperity in the future.
– His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai
One example of UAE’s religious tolerance: the country is home to over 200 nationalities and more than 40 churches of different Christian denominations, a Sikh temple and a number of Hindu temples.
A new Hindu temple is also now under construction in Abu Dhabi, the capital.
Undoubtedly, high moral values help maintain the stability and balance of societies, because, no matter how developed nations become, their development and success will always be fragile if it is not based on a solid moral grounding. The UAE has always been a nurturing home for tolerance and a deep-rooted value system, which we work hard to instill in our current and future generations.
– His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces
In June last year, His Highness Shaikh Bohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has ordered the renaming of the Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi, to Masjid “Maryam, Umm Eisa”, Arabic for “Mary, the Mother of Jesus Mosque”.
The UAE celebrates tolerance every day of the year because tolerance distinguishes the DNA of our country. Tolerance is a necessary element in our vision for the present and for the future. That vision is a global vision because our country is a global society
– Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister for Tolerance
Every November 16, the country observes the International Day of Tolerance. This week, the UAE Ministry of Tolerance holds the country’s first National Festival of Tolerance from November 9 to 16.
Here’s what you need to know about tolerance in the UAE:
What is tolerance?
It means you appreciate what is meaningful to others, even if you cannot understand it.
Why is tolerance important?
Tolerance has become the hallmark of civilised societies. There will always be differences between people that have to do with opinions, personalities, strengths, habits, gender, religion, background, family and education.
The net effect of valuing tolerance is a growing appreciation for the fact that people come in all sizes, shapes, colours and cultures. When you are tolerant, you begin by appreciating the diversity of your experiences too.
Who is the UAE Minister of State for Tolerance?
The UAE Minister of State for Tolerance is Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, who was appointed as Cabinet member and the Minister of State for Tolerance in the UAE in 2017.
How is tolerance observed in the UAE?
The country extols the virtue of tolerance, as it comes from intrinsic part of the Islamic culture. Tolerance in the UAE is observed at all levels: individual, organisational, national and institutional levels.
The UAE promotes acceptance and understanding as the country’s core values. The late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founder of modern-day UAE, and the late Shaikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, former Ruler of Dubai, have inspired tolerance to become a deeply cherished and fundamental value of the people of the UAE.
What is the anti-discrimination law?
The UAE anti-discrimination law, which came into effect in 2015, criminalises all forms of discrimination on the grounds of religion, caste, creed, doctrine, race, colour or ethnic origin.
When and where is the World Tolerance Summit?
It will be held on November 15-16, 2018 at the Armani Hotel in Dubai (Burj Khalifa).
Who is attending?
Around 1,000 leaders and delegatess are expected to attend the two-day event.
What is on the agenda at this summit?
It will inform policies and brainstorm solutions to address radicalism and extremism. Government and private sector leaders, human rights activists, social studies experts and social media influencers will be hosted at the two-day summit. They will exchange views and come up with binding resolutions for societies worldwide.
Why is it being held in the UAE?
The Middle East is a region that has seen much suffering from the consequences of conflicts.
Dr Hamad Al Shaibani, Chairman of the Higher Committee of World Tolerance Summit (WTS), explained: “Tolerance is a concept that incorporates other values, specifically the human ones. The issues of fanaticism and not accepting the other need to be highlighted and examined. Wars and famines resulted from intolerance and fanaticism across worldwide communities.”
“The UAE was the best place to host the summit since it has proven itself as a tolerant country capable of hosting a multinational society which happily coexists.”….”
Funny how the UAE anti-discrimination law doesn’t mention sexual orientation. I guess we won’t be seeing any gay prides in Dubai any time soon.
It’s also remarkable the conference is held in a tower named after this guy:

Migrant arrivals in EU set to reach 5-year low (DW, Nov 15, 2018)
https://www.dw.com/en/migrant-arrivals-in-eu-set-to-reach-5-year-low/a-46300614
“Illegal border crossings have continued to drop, putting this year’s rate on track to be the lowest since 2013, Frontex has said. Despite this, an EU dispute over the arrivals continues to feed anti-migrant sentiment.
Unauthorized migrant arrivals in the European Union are down significantly compared to last year, with 2018’s figures likely to hit a five-year low, the EU’s border agency, Frontex, announced on Wednesday.
Frontex logged 118,900 illegal border crossings in the first 10 months of the year, which is more than 30 percent lower compared to the same period in 2017.
The agency attributed the trend to a steep drop in migrants and refugees taking the dangerous central Mediterranean route between Libya and Italy. The number of people arriving in Italy is down 87 percent compared to last year.
Italy’s populist government has taken a hard-line stance on immigration, with Interior Minister Matteo Salvini vowing to stop arrivals and banishing migrant rescue boats from the country’s ports.
Rise in Spain arrivals
While Italy’s stance may have helped dissuade some from making the dangerous crossing, Frontex noted there has been a rise in the number of people crossing the Mediterranean to enter Spain.
In October, almost 60 percent of all unauthorized migrant arrivals in the EU took place along the route between Morocco and Spain.
Some 9,400 people used the western Mediterranean route this October — over double the number from the same time last year.
Despite the steady drop in arrivals, EU member states continue to fiercely disagree over how the bloc handles migration. The dispute has continued to stoke anti-migrant sentiment across Europe.
Last month, the UN’s refugee agency and the International Organization for Migration warned that the “political discourse concerning refugees and migrants, particularly those arriving by boat, has become dangerously toxic.”
They added that although the rates of boat arrivals had fallen, the number of deaths at sea had risen.”

Afghan officials: Taliban kill 30 policemen in west province (abcnews, Nov 15, 2018)
https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/afghan-officials-taliban-killed-30-policemen-blistering-overnight-59210289
“Afghan officials say the Taliban have killed 30 policemen in a blistering overnight attack in western Farah province.
Provincial council member Dadullah Qani said on Thursday that the onslaught on the police outpost in the province’s district of Khaki Safed began late on Wednesday and continued for more than four hours.
In Kabul, lawmaker Samiullah Samim said the district police commander, Abdul Jabhar, was among those killed.
The Taliban managed to flee with a large amount of weapons and ammunition.
Samim says retaliatory airstrikes killed 17 Taliban fighters.
The Taliban have in recent months been staging near-daily attacks across Afghanistan, inflicting heavy casualties on Afghan forces. Authorities no longer regularly provide casualty figures but unofficial estimates say about 45 Afghan police or soldiers are killed or wounded daily.”

Qatar, Turkey Attended Palermo Conference on Libya to Support Terrorists – LNA (sputniknews, Nov 15, 2018)
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201811151069827284-qatar-turkey-libya/
“The spokesman for the Libyan National Army (LNA), Mismari, was quoted as saying by the Sky News Arabia that Qatar and Turkey should not have been invited to the Palermo conference since they only sought to “defend the interests of terrorists” that they support in the country.
“The conference concerns Libya and was hosted by Italy. What does Qatar have to do with this? What does Turkey have to do with this?… These countries attended [the conference] in order to defend the interests of terrorist groups,” the spokesman for the LNA, which backs Libya’s Tobruk-based parliament, Ahmed Mismari said late on Wednesday, as quoted by the Sky News Arabia broadcaster.
The official’s statement comes after the international conference, organized by Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, which was held in Palermo on the Italian island of Sicily on Monday and Tuesday. It was attended, among others, by representatives of the two opposing Libyan governments — the head of the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez Sarraj, and LNA commander Khalifa Haftar.
Qatar was represented at the conference by Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani. The Turkish delegation, led by the country’s vice president, Fuat Oktay, left the conference early, expressing its disappointment over its exclusion from some meetings.
Mismari has repeatedly accused Qatar, Turkey and Sudan of supporting extremist groups operating in Libya. In particular, the spokesman said that Doha had been training militants from al-Qaeda terrorist organization (outlawed in Russia) and supported attacks on Libya’s Ras Lanuf and As Sidr oil ports in June.
Libya, which has been engulfed in a civil conflict since 2011, is currently divided between the two governments, with the eastern part of the country controlled by the Tobruk-based parliament supported by the LNA, and Sarraj’s GNA, which governs Libya’s west from the capital Tripoli.
In late August, violence escalated in and around Tripoli, as opposing militant groups renewed clashes with each other. Shortly afterwards, the United States announced that it had brokered a ceasefire agreement, but media have since reported that the warring sides continued clashes in violation of the accord.”

Immigrants 40% of Norway’s Unemployed, Africans Performing Worst – Statistics (sputniknews, Nov 15, 2018)
https://sputniknews.com/europe/201811151069825918-norway-unemployment-migrants/
“Unemployment in Norway is 3.5 times higher among immigrants than among native Norwegians, fresh statistical data says. As a consequence, immigrants rank first among welfare recipients.
While highlighting a decline in the number of jobless, the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV) also reported a disproportionately high unemployment rate among immigrants.
While around 14 percent of Norway’s population of 5.2 million is defined as immigrants, these newcomers account for over 40 percent of those registered as fully unemployed by the NAV. Among immigrants, the unemployment rate is 5.9 percent, as opposed to only 1.7 percent among people who were born in the country, the daily newspaper Nettavisen reported.
Immigrants from Eastern Europe performed best, the unemployment rate among this segment of the population has dropped compared with last year. By contrast, immigrants from Africa performed worst, with an unemployment rate of 10.6 percent, followed by immigrants from Asia with 6.8 percent.
Second-generation immigrants had difficulty keeping up with the general population, Statistics Norway reported. In the 15-29 age bracket, which accounts for most of the Norwegian-born second-generation immigrants, the unemployment rate was recorded at 6 percent, almost three times higher than that of their Norwegian peers (2.2 percent).
Last week, NAV published a report highlighting immigration as a source of inequality in Norway. Immigrants’ children, single parents and young adults were named the most economically vulnerable groups, generally having poorer health and less social contact.
Over 500,000 Norwegian residents experience daily financial challenges, partly due to problems related to immigration. According to the report, over 101,000 children live in low-income families, 54.5 percent of which are immigrant families.
“Since many immigrant groups have a lower job participation than the rest of the population, increased immigration leads to a larger proportion of low-income population.
The risk of low income is five times higher in households without a stable connection to the labour market,” NAV knowledge director Yngvar Åsholt said, as quoted by the news outlet Document.
In 2016, 52 percent of the working-age recipients of welfare were immigrants, Document reported.”

Trump seeks to land blow against media in court fight with CNN
‘If the president wants to exclude all reporters from the White House grounds, he has the authority to do that,’ a lawyer for the administration said during a hearing.
Donald Trump sought Wednesday to land a massive blow in his long-fought battle against the news media, with administration lawyers asserting in court that the president could bar “all reporters” from the White House complex for any reason he sees fit.
The sweeping claim, which came in the first public hearing over CNN’s lawsuit to restore correspondent Jim Acosta’s White House credentials, could have a dramatic impact on news organizations’ access to government officials if it is upheld in court.

Richard: There is nothing in the Constitution or the US Code that requires the President to h old press briefings, they were started in the 20th Century and are now considered part of the Washington DC life. Fake fingerprints can imitate real ones in biometric systems – research
DeepMasterPrints created by a machine learning technique have error rate of only one in five
Researchers have used a neural network to generate artificial fingerprints that work as a “master key” for biometric identification systems and prove fake fingerprints can be created.
According to a paper presented at a security conference in Los Angeles, the artificially generated fingerprints, dubbed “DeepMasterPrints” by the researchers from New York University, were able to imitate more than one in five fingerprints in a biometric system that should only have an error rate of one in a thousand.
The researchers, led by NYU’s Philip Bontrager, say that “the underlying method is likely to have broad applications in fingerprint security as well as fingerprint synthesis.” As with much security research, demonstrating flaws in existing authentication systems is considered to be an important part of developing more secure replacements in the future.
In order to work, the DeepMasterPrints take advantage of two properties of fingerprint-based authentication systems. The first is that, for ergonomic reasons, most fingerprint readers do not read the entire finger at once, instead imaging whichever part of the finger touches the scanner.

Twitter suspended Smash Racism DC, which was previously operating under the handle “@SmashRacismDC” after they posted tweets containing Carlson’s address and video of a mob screaming threats outside of Carlson’s home. The account was later suspended again for ban evasion.
Carlson, also a Daily Caller co-founder, said his wife was home alone at the time and thought she was the victim of a home invasion.
The group’s new account is still named “Smash Racism DC” and has the same profile picture but uses the handle “@DCAgainstRacism.”

Disconnect: Mueller probe is expected to wrap up soon. Yet Democrats are desperate to ‘protect’ it?
By J.E. Dyer November 15, 2018
We keep hearing that Special Counsel Robert Mueller is expected to publish his findings from the “Russia” investigation very soon. Just this evening, journalist Sara Carter said on Fox News that a concluding report from Mueller is widely anticipated within weeks, if not days. There are numerous reports, like this one from ABC last week, that Mueller is writing his final report.
If the Mueller probe is concluded before the Christmas holidays, however, the question arises what the Democrats’ (and other Trump critics’) purpose is in seeking to “protect” it. The unspoken implication about this is that the investigation would be “protected” when the new Congress is seated in January. All commentary on the matter is written with that as the tacit premise – and much of it has that as an explicit, forthright premise.
No one speaks of protecting the Mueller investigation as if it’s about blocking Trump from ending the probe this fall, before Mueller can present the findings reportedly being composed right now.
Yet after those findings are presented, what “protection” would be needed for the investigation? Is the idea to keep it hanging around, its job already completed, in case something else comes along?
https://libertyunyielding.com/2018/11/15/disconnect-mueller-probe-is-expected-to-wrap-up-soon-yet-democrats-are-desperate-to-protect-it/
This one is interesting as to the motives of the Dems in saying they have to protect the Mueller Investigation when all indications are that he is about to warp up the investigation. As she points out any move to extend the Mueller investigation will not pass the small test but does have a silver lining, more will come out about the criminal activity of the Obama administration and the Clinton Crime Family. Not that this will get many if any of the Obama and Clinton people put in the pen.
What I want you to do is to add this to the above reports from Philly and Tucson as to what the future holds for us. The Day by Day Cartoon from Sunday is very appropriate here:

This tells us what to expect from the Dems but to be truly appropriate it should include Trudeau, Merke, Sorosl and Macron as well as a few others.
Sounds like fraud: Feds are probing election documents altered by Democrats in 4 Florida counties
By LU Staff November 15, 2018
Florida Department of State (DOS) officials have said for days that there was no evidence of fraud in the processing of votes for the 2018 general election. But now it turns out the DOS asked federal prosecutors last week to investigate election documents on which dates were altered, apparently by state Democrats, to misrepresent to voters what the deadline was for “curing” disputed mail-in ballots.
The evidence of altered documents doesn’t show manipulation of the ballots themselves. But it does put the legitimacy of vote-by-mail ballots in question. It appears that Democrats were telling voters who needed to “cure” their ballots that they had more time to do that than election law allows. And they reportedly changed information documents about election rules to bolster their misrepresentation.
“Curing” vote-by-mail ballots entails correcting discrepancies that could get the ballots excluded. Disputed ballots often lack proper signatures, or have signatures that don’t match the ones on record for the registered voter. There may be other discrepancies as well.
The political parties keep up with the mail-in ballots as they are being processed before the election, and contact the voters registered with their parties to try to cure disputed ballots.

More protests against Asia Bibi’s acquittal in Pakistan
Pakistan: Thousands march in Lahore over acquittal of Christian woman in blasphemy case
The conservative Islamist political alliance Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) flooded the streets of Lahore on Thursday, demanding from the Supreme Court to reverse the acquittal of a Christian woman condemned to death for blasphemy.
Leaders of the Islamist conservative alliance Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), took the stage to denounce the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the death conviction of Asia Bibi for blasphemy.
The president of the MMA alliance, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, stated that “we will never hesitate to scarify lives to honour the Prophet,” calling for the Supreme Court to revert its verdict “or this agitation will continue.”
Asia Bibi was sentenced to death by hanging in 2010 for allegedly making derogatory remarks about the Prophet Muhammad during a dispute with co-workers. The dispute arose after she was reprimanded for drinking water from her neighbours’ glass because she’s not a Muslim, reports say.
Bibi has denied the allegations but has spent most of the last eight years in solitary confinement. On November, Pakistan’s Supreme Court overturned her conviction citing flimsy evidence.

Saudis are debating whether they can quit listening to music or not
Music has long been a controversial matter in Saudi Arabia.
In Saudi Arabia, some believe that music is haram (prohibited in Islam) and therefore should be excluded from people’s lives.
This probably explains why a hashtag – asking Twitter users if they’d be able to “quit listening to music” – went viral in the kingdom earlier this week.
Soon after the hashtag trended on the micro-blogging platform, many couldn’t help but troll it.

Saudi women in ‘inside-out abaya’ protest (BBC, Nov 15, 2018)
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-46222949
“Some Saudi women have launched a protest against the abaya – a long loose-fitting robe used to cover their bodies in public – by saying that they will wear it inside out.
Under the hashtag “inside-out abaya” they have posted pictures of the robe, which they feel under pressure to wear.
In March Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said the garment was not a legal requirement.
About 5,000 tweets using the hashtag have been sent, most from Saudi Arabia.
What can Saudi women wear?
The Saudi authorities for decades enforced a strict dress code on women that required them to wear abayas in public, as well as a headscarf if they were Muslim.
But in March the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman declared that women only needed to dress modestly and not necessarily wear abayas.
“The laws are very clear and stipulated in the laws of Sharia [Islamic law]: that women wear decent, respectful clothing, like men,” he told CBS TV.
“This, however, does not particularly specify a black abaya or black head cover. The decision is entirely left for women to decide what type of decent and respectful attire she chooses to wear.”
What have Saudi women been posting?
Twitter user Howra said she would begin wearing the abaya inside out “to protest the customs and state regulations that mean we are under threat if we dare to show our identities”.
“We have to work full-time with the niqab [a face veil] and abaya because, the argument goes, the place is mixed. This is a heavy burden for a person to bear,” she added.
In recent years Saudi women have also begun wearing more colourful abayas that contrast with the traditional black, and open abayas worn over long skirts or jeans are also becoming more common in some parts of the country, Reuters news agency reports.
Last year women were given the right to drive – but many of the female activists who campaigned for it have been arrested under an apparent crackdown on dissent.
Prince Mohammed has since been accused of ordering the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Turkey, though Saudi Arabia denies this.
There are many things that Saudi women are unable to do without permission from a male guardian, usually a husband, father, brother or son.
These things include, but are not limited to:
Applying for passports
Travelling abroad
Getting married
Opening a bank account
Starting certain businesses
Getting elective surgery
Leaving prison

France: Theresa May is ‘completely useless’ – UKIP leader Batten on draft Brexit deal
UKIP Leader Gerard Batten said “no one is going to be happy” over British Prime Minister Theresa May’s draft agreement on the UK’s withdrawal from the EU, speaking in Strasbourg on Thursday.
“I do not believe she can get it through the parliament and of course it also has to come through the European Parliament,” Batten said.
He said that the draft agreement will only increase the number of Britons who want to leave the EU, “when they understand how the European Union treats Britain and how zero respect they actually have for us and in our democratic decision to leave.”
Batten called PM May “completely useless” since she is “a Remainer who is supposed to be in charge of the leaving process.”
The EU and the UK agreed on the draft text of a Brexit agreement after months of talks on Tuesday.

FBI clears Michael Flynn in probe linking him to Russia
The FBI has reviewed intercepted phone calls between national security adviser Michael Flynn and the Russian ambassador to the US and has found no evidence of wrongdoing, it was revealed Monday.
The calls were made in late December and picked up as part of routine electronic surveillance of Russian officials. They did not reveal any illicit ties between Flynn and Russia, according to the Washington Post.

EU Chief Juncker Attacks Nations Leaving UN Migration Pact, Slams ‘Stupid Populists’ (breitbart, Nov 15, 2018)
https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/11/15/eu-juncker-un-migration-pact-populists/
“Jean-Claude Juncker has criticised EU countries pulling out of the United Nations (UN) migration pact during a speech in Berlin, where he said Europe “must do everything possible” to kill populism on the continent.
Speaking at an event held by German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung (SZ), the EU Commission president said that the growing number of European governments withdrawing from the agreement must be ignorant of its contents.
The list of countries to have exited, which so far includes Austria, Hungary, Croatia, Bulgaria, and most recently the Czech Republic, would not have pulled out of the pact “if they had read it”, Juncker argued, claiming that the principles of “shared responsibility” outlined in the document would actually lead to less illegal immigration.
On Wednesday the Czech Republic became the latest to announce it was rejecting the so-called Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, which is due to be formally ratified at a meeting in Marrakech, Morocco, next month.
There has been growing concern in a number of UN member states regarding eventual legal implications of the document, which declares migration “inevitable, necessary, and desirable” and requires signatories “commit to eliminate all forms of discrimination” with measures including the state promotion of “diversity”, enacting stiff penalties for “hate crime” and opening up welfare systems to all, including migrants without papers.
Spanish daily the Economist reports Juncker also used his speech at the SZ Economic Summit to defend his performance as head of the Commission, stating that “stupid populists” in Europe have nothing but a “long list of accusations” on issues for which they hold others, “especially Brussels”, to blame.
A major problem in Europe is when “mainstream” parties begin to “say what the populists say” in terms of seeking to address similar concerns, because doing so only emboldens people “to vote for the populists”, according to the Luxembourger Eurocrat.
Voicing his endorsement of French leader Emmanuel Macron’s claim last week that patriotism is “the opposite” of nationalism, Juncker warned against “acting innocent” before going on to imply that carnage in Europe on the scale of the two world wars was inevitable without the death of national sovereignty.
“Madness always returns,” he said, stressing Europe “must do everything possible” to prevent war and that populist and nationalist policies should be stopped at all costs.

Kurdish Militia Chasing Daesh Leader al-Baghdadi in Eastern Syria – Reports (sputniknews, Nov 15, 2018)
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201811151069846147-sdf-hunting-baghdadi-in-hajin/
“Last month, the Daesh (ISIS)* leader was reported to have ordered the execution of 320 of his followers, including senior commanders, for “disloyalty” and “recklessness.”
Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) militia are fighting Daesh leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s followers and family members in Hajin, an eastern Syrian town about 50 km west of the Iraqi border, a Sun correspondent embedded with the militia has reported.
“In other battles, the jihadists had other places to run to, but in Hajin they have nowhere to go,” SDF commander Havel Ronnie Walat told the outlet. “Here it is only the true believers left and they will fight to the death,” he said.
Earlier, Moscow accused the US-led coalition of resuming airstrikes in the area using white phosphorus bombs, and said the attacks were causing casualties among civilians trapped in the area. On Wednesday, Syrian media reported that the coalition used cluster bombs in Hajin and the nearby town of al-Sha’afa, leading to multiple civilian deaths. The coalition has repeatedly denied using cluster and white phosphorus munitions in populated areas in eastern Syria.
Commenting on rumors that al-Baghdadi may be hiding out in the Hajin, Walat revealed that the terrorist head honcho’s brother “was in the area recently (and) he was holding a meeting encouraging people to fight. Also, about a month and a half ago, we got intelligence that we killed (one of) Baghdadi’s sons,” the commander said.
The SDF commander said that “significant numbers” of foreign fighters remain trapped in the area, including fighters of Afghani, British, Chechen, unidentified European, Iraqi and Saudi origin. He added that the fight against the terrorists for the area has turned into a crawl, with Daesh using vehicles in suicide bombings, building tunnels and placing improvised explosive devices everywhere.
“[Daesh] have had over five years to prepare,” Walat said. “It’s very slow work [and] we are having to take [territory] house by house, metre by metre.”
“We will begin the offensive against Hajin soon…but I don’t think this battle will be done quickly. This is not a war that can be won quickly,” Walat emphasized…”
Greece says about 74,000 asylum-seekers now in the country (abcnews, Nov 15, 2018)
https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/greece-74000-asylum-seekers-now-country-59214660
“Greek authorities said Thursday that about 74,000 asylum-seekers are now living in the country, and efforts are underway to expand housing for them and improve conditions at island camps for migrants who arrive by sea.
Migration Minister Dimitris Vitsas said that in coming months some 6,000 people will be moved to the mainland from island camps, where conditions have repeatedly been criticized by rights groups.
Vitsas conceded that the situation is “difficult” in these camps, where 20,000 people live in facilities designed for fewer than 10,000.
He promised to set up small health centers in each of the camps on the islands of Lesbos, Samos, Chios, Leros and Kos — where, under a deal between the European Union and Turkey to curb migration flows, new arrivals by sea from Turkey are kept pending processing of their asylum bids.
Vitsas said a sewage treatment plant was expected to be completed by March 2019 at the Moria camp on Lesbos that was built for 3,100 but currently is hosting 7,084 people. He blamed the delay on “devilish bureaucracy.”
Conditions on Moria in particular have been repeatedly and heavily deplored by residents and human rights groups, while one visit by health inspectors noted that raw sewage was trickling out of the main entrance to the camp.
An overcrowded camp on Samos will be replaced by a new one with double the capacity, Vitsas said during a press conference in Athens.
This year, some 42,000 migrants have entered Greece illegally — 14,000 crossing the country’s land borders, mostly from Turkey. Vitsas said that he doesn’t expect an increase in flows next year, but in any case authorities would be in a position to handle up to 20 percent more arrivals.
He added that the number of migrants leaving Greece illegally for other European countries is minimal.”

Saudi Arabia: Prosecutor seeks death penalty for 5 suspects in Khashoggi case – Saudi FM
Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said that the Suadi Prosecutor General will seek the death penalty for five individuals involved in the Jamal Khashoggi case, speaking from Riyadh on Thursday.
According to the al-Jubeir, “11 individuals have been convicted and referred to court, including five individuals, for whom the Prosecutor General will seek the death penalty.”
In total, “18 suspects have been arrested and 6 officials have been relieved of their positions,” as a result of the ongoing investigation on the case of the slain Saudi journalist.
“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is determined to punish all those involved in this crime,” al-Jubeir said, adding that the kingdom will take “the necessary measures as to guarantee this will not be repeated in the future.”
The minister went on by rejecting “any attempt to politicize the case or to interfere in the internal affair of Saudi Arabia” and called to “the brothers in Turkey” to share any additional information they may have.

The chief prosecutor of Saudi Arabia cleared his boss[…]
[…]the White House is looking for ways to induce Turkey to finally settle the case.
[…]The story is of course not believable. Saudi Arabia is an absolute monarchy. No low level employee would dare to decided to kill a person of higher interests when the order says to bring the person back alive. Neither the mission leader nor the negotiation team leader would take such a step without consulting with Riyadh.
The murder was clearly planned at a higher level and well before the team landed in Istanbul. One does not bring a person that looks like the victim to make it look like the victim walked out ‘just in case’ something bad happens. If an abduction is planned one does not bring a ‘forensic expert’ -who in reality is a well known doctor specialized in autopsies- to ‘cleanup’ the scene.
The Saudi release was coordinated with the White House.[…]
[…]The Trump administration is also actively looking for ways to appease the Turkish President Recep Erdogan. One price Erdogan has long demanded is the head of the Gülen movement, the Turkish cleric Fethullah Gülen.
[…]Another demand Erdogan has is the removal of U.S. support from their Kurdish proxies in Syria. […]

Saudi Journalist attacks ‘Washington Post’ for publishing article by a Houthi Leader: The Newspaper is a platform for those who cry ‘Death to America’
On Nov. 11, 2018, The Washington Post published an article by Mohammed Ali Al-Houthi, chairman of the Houthi Supreme Revolutionary Committee in Yemen, attacking Saudi Arabia for its actions in the context of the war in Yemen. The article also attacked the U.S., arguing that the only reason it called for a ceasefire in Yemen was to attempt to salvage its pride, after Saudi Arabia and its Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ignored American requests to provide clarifications about the Oct. 2, 2018 murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Al-Houthi’s article elicited harsh responses in Yemen, where Foreign Minister Khaled Alyemany tweeted that its publication was shameful, and referred to Mohammed Al-Houthi as a war criminal.[1]
The article’s publication was also criticized in Saudi Arabia, where newspaper articles described it as a scandal. The harshest of these articles, by Saudi journalist Hani Al-Zahiri in the Saudi ‘Okaz daily, was headlined “Why Does The Washington Post Support the Slogan ‘Death to America?!”
In it, Al-Zahiri claimed that the American left’s, and specifically The Washington Post’s, hatred of the administration of President Donald Trump had transformed it into a tool in the hands of the enemies of the American people and into fertile ground for incitement against them by terrorists such as Mohammed Ali Al-Houthi, whom he called a member of an organization that calls for “Death to America.”
According to Al-Zahiri, Al-Houthi is no different at all from Osama bin Laden, and if bin Laden were alive today he too would be a regular contributor to The Washington Post. Al-Zahiri even claimed that if a militia like the Houthis were to regularly fire missiles at the U.S., the Americans would summarily wipe it off the map.

This is important. Also consider the relationship between the current owner of the paper and the CIA.
Does ‘The Washington Post’ Have A Blind Spot For The Muslim Brotherhood?
The October 2, 2018 murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, an avowed proponent of and apologist for the Muslim Brotherhood, and the Washington Post’s endorsement of this position[1] – promoted primarily by foreign affairs reporter Ishaan Tharoor, who anchors the Today’s Worldview feature, but also by the editorial board – raises anew the question of whether the MB is a believer in democracy and free expression.
In an August 2018 column in the Post, Khashoggi wrote: “The eradication of the Muslim Brotherhood is nothing less than an abolition of democracy and a guarantee that Arabs will continue living under authoritarian and corrupt regimes.”[2] This emphatic assertion should be closely examined, in light of its ideology and its implementation in Egypt during the presidency of Mohamed Morsi.
MEMRI has analyzed both of these in depth. The MEMRI reports listed below explain all this, and show how the MB ideology is antithetical to democracy and freedom of speech: https://www.memri.org/reports/does-washington-post-have-blind-spot-muslim-brotherhood

Exceptionally poor.
We should be distancing ourselves from the Turk, not appeasing him. He’s been going hog-wild against our Kurdish allies; we’re just rolling over while they die.
This isn’t a question of our needing time to build up the military. It’s not soldiers or missiles, nor the logistics we inherited 18 months ago. This is inept policy. Mattis is a disaster.
Failing to pay attention to the war in Syria and Iraq, staggering on Lebanon. Took too long to dump Tillerson. (Who recommended McMaster?!)
Getting played by the Turk and his MB apologists here. The show of fire against him came too late, looked ad hoc, didn’t connect with the genuine issues, now seems to be falling apart completely.
Just as the crucial battles on the Euphrates are being decided, we crumble. Double-crossing our allies. Unable to distinguish friend from foe.
Instead of investing in fact-finding in the region, PT hung everything on an unknown 32-year-old Saudi prince. An image manufactured and sold to us. That was nuts from the get-go. Amateurish.
This is Jimmy Carter-level strategy.
The CFR actually gets it.
Executive Summary: New CFR Report: U.S. Should Reassess Its Approach Toward Turkey
Since the 1950s, U.S. presidents have recognized Turkey as a critical ally. The legacy of this Cold War partnership continues to frame U.S. policy discussions about Turkey in which the country is routinely referred to as a strategic ally. Yet the world has changed considerably since the Cold War ended, and transformations in global, U.S., and Turkish politics over the last three decades require a reevaluation of the U.S.-Turkey relationship.
Turkish opposition politicians have been supportive of the Bashar al-Assad regime, are hostile to expressions of Kurdish nationalism, joined the AKP in demanding Fethullah Gulen’s extradition from the United States, and stoke anti-Americanism.
Although some present and former U.S. policymakers continue to make the case that Turkey is a strategic partner and an anchor for stability, the evidence for these declarations is thin. The two countries do not share interests or values. Analysts and officials looking for a new and positive framework for bilateral ties are unlikely to find one.
Instead, the basic assumption that should guide Washington in its approach to Ankara is that while Turkey remains formally a NATO ally, it is not a partner of the United States. The bilateral relationship is marked by ambivalence and mistrust.
The strategic relationship is over, and going forward, cooperation between the countries will be limited and contingent on specific circumstances. Policymakers should regard Turkey as neither a friend of the United States nor as an enemy. In many areas, Turkey is a competitor and antagonist of the United States. As a result, American officials should abandon the intensive and often fruitless diplomatic efforts to convince Turkish policymakers to support the United States.
Instead, the United States should not be reluctant—as it has been in the past—to oppose Turkey directly when Ankara undermines U.S. policy. In practical terms this means the United States should develop alternatives to Incirlik Air Base, suspend Turkey’s participation in the F-35 jet program, and continue to work with the People’s Protection Units (YPG) to achieve its goals in Syria.

the rebel – Interviewing Maxime Bernier: Selling the CBC, dividing the right? | David Menzies
David Menzies of TheRebel.media reports: On November 14, Maxime Bernier held a rally in Toronto, so I took the opportunity to ask him a few questions about the PPC platform, and about the media’s clear bias against him and anyone with a conservative message.
the rebel – Maxime Bernier speaks at Etobicoke rally (Full Speech)
It was a packed house when People’s Party of Canada leader Maxime Bernier visited Toronto on November 14th for a rally.
And he received huge ovations for promises ranging from defunding the CBC to ending Canada’s financial contributions to the United Nations.
I always thought the Turkish coup was a ruse to purge for Erdogan. Regardless, what does this guy mean to the U.S.? I don’t believe his strategic value outweighs Erdogan’s. Ridding itself of a non-strategic tard for a strategic one makes sense. But extricate a proverbial fortune in return.

Johnny – any move to appease the Turk is poor. I’m hoping this is Fake News.
You don’t DO appeasement with tards.
I know what you mean. Erdogan is nasty enough without anyone giving him something he wants.
Yes, yes, Yucki. I feel the same way. But Erdogan has some leverage here, and I think that PT and advisors have one eye on the U.S. dollar which provides enormous power as the world reserve currency, which can only be prolongued by extending the Petrodollar arrangement with the Saudis.

– TURKEY – Greek police beat migrants at border, send them back to Turkey naked, locals say
A group of migrants was discovered by villagers in Turkey’s northwestern Edirne province in a run-down and naked state, saying that they were beaten up and stripped of their clothes and belongings by the Greek police.
The migrants including Yemeni and Palestinian nationals were found late Monday while walking in open fields by locals of Kiremitçi Salih village in Uzunköprü district on the eastern bank of the Maritsa River forming the border between Turkey and Greece.
The villagers brought the migrants to the village’s coffeehouse, provided them with clothes and notified local gendarmerie units.
Village headman Zeki Ates told the Demirören News Agency that all migrants had visible signs of battery on their backs and all over their bodies.
“When we asked them what happened, they told us that the Greek police beat them up,” Ate? said.
He said that the migrants were taken away by gendarmerie units.
The incident was the latest string of events involving migrants and Greek and Bulgarian soldiers and police officers, who have been accused of “pushing back” migrants on the border.
Similar incidents have also taken place on the Aegean, in which migrants and Turkish locals accused the Greek coast guard of deflating the boats or re-routing them back to Turkish territorial waters.
“Pushback” is an illegal practice under international conventions, and Greece has never acknowledged whether its security forces were involved in pushing back the migrants or not. Turkish media outlets say Greece pushed back some 4,000 illegal immigrants last year.
Based on the accounts of the illegally deported migrants, Greek police officers are also accused of confiscating migrants’ valuable possessions and torturing them.

I wonder how much of this report we ought to believe?
None of it, on principle.
It’s background noise, stuff that’s a feature of hellhole life – most of Greece never rose above it. Nobody paid attention before. Out of context disinfo, could be 100% Turk.
All of a sudden it’s become newsworthy?
Turk’s getting so much mileage out of Khashoggi, expect tidal waves of this crafted outrage. Strictly for Western consumption.
The tards are becoming polished in their English-media vehicles. That doesn’t mean they’re worthy. We’re getting overdoses here.
