  1. 91 nations can’t sustain population levels, study finds; birthrates soaring in developing countries (japantimes, Nov 10, 2018)
    https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2018/11/10/world/science-health-world/91-nations-cant-sustain-population-levels-study-finds-birth-rates-soaring-developing-countries/#.W-ZkJ5NKhQI

“Soaring birthrates in developing nations are fueling a global baby boom but women in dozens of richer countries aren’t producing enough children to maintain population levels there, according to figures released Friday.

A global overview of birth, death and disease rates evaluating thousands of data sets on a country-by-country basis also found that heart disease is now the single leading cause of death worldwide.

The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), set up at the University of Washington by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, used more than 8,000 data sources — more than 600 of them new — to compile one of the most detailed looks at global public health.

Their sources included in-country investigations, social media and open-source material.

It found that while the world’s population skyrocketed from 2.6 billion in 1950 to 7.6 billion last year, that growth was deeply uneven according to region and income.

Ninety-one nations, mainly in Europe and North and South America, weren’t producing enough children to sustain their current populations, according to the IHME study.

But in Africa and Asia fertility rates continued to grow, with the average woman in Niger giving birth to seven children during her lifetime.

Ali Mokdad, professor of Health Metrics Sciences at IHME, told AFP that the single most important factor in determining population growth was education.

“It is down to socioeconomic factors but it’s a function of a woman’s education,” he said. “The more a woman is educated, she is spending more years in school, she is delaying her pregnancies and so will have fewer babies.”

The IHME found that Cyprus was the least fertile nation on Earth, with the average woman giving birth just once in her life.

By contrast, women in Mali, Chad and Afghanistan have on average more than six babies.

The United Nations predicts there will be more than 10 billion humans on the planet by the middle of the century, broadly in line with IHME’s projection.

This raises the question of how many people our world can support, known as Earth’s “carrying capacity.”

Mokdad said that while populations in developing nations continue to rise, so in general are their economies growing.

This typically has a knock-on effect on fertility rates over time.

“In Asia and Africa the population is still increasing and people are moving from poverty to better income — unless there are wars or unrest,” he said.

“Countries are expected to fare better economically and it’s more likely that fertility there will decline and level out.”

Not only are there now billions more of us than 70 years ago, but we are also living longer than ever before.

The study, published in The Lancet medical journal, showed male life expectancy had increased to 71 years from 48 in 1950. Women are now expected to live to 76, compared with 53 in 1950.

Living longer brings its own health problems. placing greater burdens on our health care systems.

The IHME said heart disease was now the leading cause of death globally. As recently as 1990, neonatal disorders were the biggest killer, followed by lung disease and diarrhea.

Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Azerbaijan had the highest death rates from heart disease; South Korea, Japan and France had among the lowest.

“You see less mortality from infectious diseases as countries get richer, but also more disability as people are living longer,” said Mokdad.

He pointed out that although deaths from infectious diseases like malaria and tuberculosis are down significantly since 1990, new noncommunicable killers have taken their place.

“There are certain behaviors that are leading to an increase in cardiovascular diseases and cancer. Obesity is No. 1 — it is increasing every year and our behavior is contributing to that.””

  2. Afghanistan’s Anti-Corruption Center is Corrupt – SIGAR (sputniknews, Nov 10, 2018)
    https://sputniknews.com/asia/201811101069678295-Afghanistans-Anti-Corruption-Center-Corrupt-SIGAR/

“Afghanistan’s anti-corruption center itself riddled with corruption, a new report by US officials in Afghanistan argues.

Afghanistan’s Anti-Corruption Justice Center is supposed to be helping the war-torn country’s police, prosecutors and courts better combat corruption and creating a culture of accountability. Instead, Afghan Attorney General Mohammad Farid Hamidi has been called dishonest, corrupt and deficient by US Justice Department officials in SIGAR, the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, in a report released last week.

“The attorney general’s performance is deficient, his accomplishments are lacking, and he fails to cooperate with the US Embassy on anti-corruption matters,” the report reads. Officials went on to describe instances in which Hamidi lied to them about arresting lawyers for corruption, double-talking when it came to introducing modern case-tracking systems to the country, and displaying a “perpetual sense of entitlement” when it came to changing his ways.

SIGAR claims Hamidi resisted these changed because of “a concern that more transparency will shine a light on his unproductive, corrupt, and patronage-laden office,” Stars and Stripes reported Friday.

“The Afghans were not enthusiastic about going after corruption, ever,” said Craig Trebilcock, formerly a US Army Reserve colonel in 2016 and director of rule of law in Afghanistan. “They were enthusiastic about NATO not pulling the money from them due to the high level of corruption.”

The US mission in Afghanistan aren’t the only ones fed up with Hamidi’s ways. UN officials and NATO’s Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan both raise similar concerns about the decline of the Justice Center’s performance, putting pressure on the body to perform better, but to little avail.

“Having utterly collapsed themselves in the face of concerted resistance by the kleptocratic network, having abandoned the few brave officials who took their anti-corruption rhetoric seriously, for interveners now to blame the attorney general for functioning the only way he really can within that intact kleptocratic system is a bit rich,” Sarah Chayes, who lived in Kandahar for seven years and researched corruption as a senior fellow in Carnegie’s Democracy and Rule of Law program, told Stars and Stripes.

The genesis of the ACJC came in 2015, when Resolute Support, the NATO-led mission to train and advise Afghan self-defense and police forces and oversee Kabul’s nation-building efforts, realized the Afghan justice system needed streamlining to eliminate bureaucracy and gamesmanship hindering reform. The ACJC created a specialized jurisdiction for prosecuting high-level corrupt actors, building on the already-existing Afghan Counter Narcotics Justice Center (CNJC), a September 2017 report in Prism explains. The new ACJC would retain CNJC’s practices of appointing independent prosecutors and judges that were insulated from bribery, intimidation and murder.

CNJC enjoyed an extremely high conviction rate of 95 percent, routinely handing out 20-year jail sentences to drug dealers. As such, officials had high hopes for the ACJC, too. However, earlier this year, SIGAR began raising concerns about Afghanistan’s flagging anti-corruption campaign. A May 2018 SIGAR reported to the United States House Appropriations Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs warned that “key anti-corruption institutions such as the Anti Corruption Justice Center (ACJC) and Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) lack the capacity, resources, or security they need to perform their functions.” This, the report noted, was a major inhibition to the government’s ability to continue combating corruption.

“The Center was portrayed and emphasized as one of the good things in Afghanistan,” Vanda Felbab-Brown of the Brookings Institution told Stars and Stripes. “[The report] is pretty devastating for the government, or anyone who wants to argue that there has been important progress and we shouldn’t give up on Afghanistan.””

  3. French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe said anti-Semitic acts in France jumped by 69 percent in the first nine months of 2018, announcing the rise on Friday as Europe pauses to remember the 80th anniversary of the infamous “Kristallnacht” of Nazi attacks against Jews.
“Every aggression perpetrated against one of our citizens because they are Jewish echoes like the breaking of new crystal,” Philippe wrote on Facebook, referring to the start of the Nazi drive to eliminate Jews on November 9, 1938, also known as the Night of Broken Glass.

“Why recall, in 2018, such a painful memory? Because we are very far from being finished with anti-Semitism,” he said, calling the number of acts “relentless.”

“Despite decreasing for the past two years, the number of [anti-Semitic] acts has risen by more than 69 percent in the first nine months of 2018,” Phillipe lamented.

In his Facebook post, Philippe quoted Holocaust survivor and Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel as saying that “the real danger, my son, is indifference,” pledging that the French government would not be indifferent.

  4. Florida Politician Uses Twitter To Encourage Vote Fraud

Right now, Democrat-run election boards in the Florida counties of Palm Beach and Broward Counties are in the process of literally stealing the races for senator and governor. Literally. And without even an attempt at artifice and concealment. They are stealing the election and they are rubbing our collective noses in it. While the elections officials in those counties are directly to blame, it is clear a culture of lawlessness runs deep in those counties.

In Florida’s 18th district, a so-called battleground district where Republican Brian Mast is holding a seat previously held by Democrat Patrick Murphy, Mast has a 9-point lead–some 30,000 votes–over challenger Lauren Baer. That should be it, one would think. But you’d think wrong.

Yesterday, Baer’s primary opponent, perennial candidate Pam Keith sent out this passionate, and since deleted, tweet:

  7. White House: Wall Street billionaires acting as ‘unregistered foreign agents’ of China

Several influential Wall Street executives have made themselves “unregistered foreign agents” of China, and are helping to pressure the Trump administration into resolving its trade dispute with China, according to a top White House official.

“The mission of these unregistered foreign agents — that’s what they are; they’re unregistered foreign agents — is to pressure this president into some kind of deal,” Peter Navarro, a top trade policy adviser for President Trump, said Friday.

Navarro is one of the top advocates of a protectionist economic policy within the administration, making him a natural ideological opponent of most countries’ economic positions. But his rhetoric at the Center for Strategic and International Studies went further by raising a national security issue and claiming that “globalist billionaires” within the U.S. are working against Trump.

“As part of a Chinese government influence operation, these globalist billionaires are putting a full-court press on the White House in advance of the G20 in Argentina,” he said. “When these unpaid foreign agents engage in this kind of diplomacy, so-called diplomacy, all they do is weaken this president and his negotiating position. No good can come of this.”

  8. onald Trump, the US president, on Friday invoked extraordinary national security powers to deny asylum to migrants who enter the country illegally, tightening the border as caravans of Central Americans slowly approach the United States.

Mr Trump is using the same powers he used to push through a version of the travel ban that was upheld by the Supreme Court. The proclamation puts into place regulations adopted Thursday that circumvent laws stating that anyone is eligible for asylum no matter how he or she enters the country.

“We need people in our country but they have to come in legally and they have to have merit,” Mr Trump said Friday as he prepared to depart for Paris.

Administration officials say the measures are in effect for at least three months, but could be extended. They go into effect Saturday and don’t affect people who are already in the country.

  9. As this week’s CBC report explained, back in 2013 “Canada banned adoptions from Pakistan without warning”:

Canada quietly extended the same restriction to virtually all Muslim countries. The reason: According to the federal government, adoptions aren’t permissible under Shariah law …
Documents obtained through access to information legislation reveal the extent to which Canadian officials were delving into the particulars of Shariah law and in the process, bringing adoptions from Muslim countries to a near-halt.

Indeed, documents from 2013 indicate that Canadian federal officials had become preoccupied with the question of adoption in the context and according to the intricacies of Islamic law. “It is reasonable to assume,” reads one from June 2013, “that … a change in the child’s parentage is strictly prohibited under Shariah law.” “In the Islamic view,” it continues, “the child does not become a true child of the ‘adoptive’ parents.”

A member of another district praised Saddam Hussein and wrote on Facebook that Israel should “burn in hell”.

Recently, SSU Skåne’s chairman Mansour Ahmed shared an article claiming that Israel does not have the right to defend itself against Palestinian terrorist attacks on Facebook.

The national chairman says he is “extremely pissed off” and claims he had no idea what was going on even though he participated in meetings where radical beliefs were expressed.

SSU will now set up a working group “to get to the bottom of the problem, and draw up a plan of action for the future”.

In a meeting with African community leaders, Ms Nixon said she would examine how to use the liaison officers, which would be hired by Victoria Police to bring the groups together.

The officers will be posted to hotspots such as Flemington, Footscray, Dandenong and Noble Park.

They will help police to better understand and communicate with African youths and parents.

Ms Nixon told the meeting that African communities develop volunteer groups to assist police in time of crises, such as the conflict in December last year.

The meeting last week was initiated by African community leaders after the showdown in Flemington, when more than 100 Africans surrounded police after they wanted to know who threw an object at their car.

African Think Tank chairman Dr Berhan Ahmed said there was a “crisis” in the relationship between young Africans and police, with boys as young as 10 carrying weapons coming under the influence of African gang leaders.

“Both groups don’t understand each other, and this has created a crisis situation,” he said.

“When you have that combination it is only natural that tinderbox conditions prevail rather than trust, respect and understanding.”

Dr Ahmed said what happened at in December was “a very dangerous situation”.

“And there have been other incidents that could have developed into a showdown with police,” he said.

  21. Impeaching Trump an Option Top Democrats Don’t Want to Touch

(Bloomberg) — Impeaching Donald Trump may be the dream of some Democrats, but party leaders poised to take control of the House of Representatives won’t go there even after the president ousted Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

“This is a constitutionally perilous moment for our country and for the president,” Representative Jerrold Nadler, who’s expected to become chairman of the House Judiciary Committee in January, said after Trump forced Sessions to resign on Wednesday and named Matthew Whitaker, a critic of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia inquiry, as acting attorney general.

But Nadler and other House Democratic leaders are still stopping short of citing the constitutional power of impeachment that they could wield — and that some party activists are demanding they pursue. It’s a move that could backfire by coming off as partisan overkill and prove futile because impeachment by the House would be unlikely to result in removal of the president by the Senate, where the Republicans increased their majority in Tuesday’s elections.

Earlier: Sessions Is Forced Out After Months of Trump Abuse Over Mueller

“Now is not the time to consider impeachment,” Representative Steny Hoyer of Maryland, the No 2 House Democrat, said in a statement. “Special Counsel Mueller must be allowed to complete his investigation. The president’s decision to ask for Attorney General Sessions’s resignation underscores the need for Congress to take action to protect that investigation.”

Instead, the leaders are emphasizing that once they gain control of House committees they’ll use their power to call hearings and issue subpoenas to investigate possible Trump campaign collusion with Russia and whether the president is seeking to obstruct justice. They’r

This is the first time that there hasn’t been a peaceful exchange of power between the parties, the libs are desperate to stop President Trump and his agenda, even going to the extremes of openly engaging in vote fraud in Florida so they can take one seat in the Senate from the Repubs so they will come closer to having enough people to prevent strict constructionists to the Supreme Court. They are facing problems because the person in charge of counting the votes in Broward County has a history of either incompetence or corruption and the Florida courts are siding with the Repubs about how the counting and recounting should be conducted. Hopefully the crooked Dems in charge of counting the votes will end up in the pen.

    • Florida deja vu as state election hit by chaos, fraud accusations

Washington (AFP) – Florida has made a troubling return to the election spotlight 18 years after the drama that launched George W Bush’s presidency, as the state braces for race recounts amid tit-for-tat accusations of fraud.

Two major contests in the southeastern state, for governor and US Senate, hung in the balance Friday, three days after the contentious midterm elections that saw Democrats seize control of the House of Representatives from President Donald Trump’s Republicans.

Most US political races have already been settled. But Florida’s ballot chaos — rife with intrigue and Trump’s accusation of abuse by officials in Democrat-heavy counties — raises fresh questions about why the world’s most powerful democracy is incapable of producing swift and accurate election results across all 50 states.

Florida is not alone. In neighboring Georgia, the Democratic candidate for governor initiated legal action to ensure all votes were counted in her contest.

In Arizona, hundreds of thousands of ballots were still left to be counted in a

WASHINGTON (CBSMiami/NSF) – A Broward County Judge has ruled in favor of Gov. Rick Scott and says Broward Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes must “allow immediate” viewing and copying of records that have been requested.

The judge added that it must be completed by 7 p.m.

By late Friday, attorneys for Governor Scott said they didn’t get very far in their efforts to inspect the ballots, as required by the judge’s order. Scott’s attorneys say they did receive documents before 7 p.m. but they could not access them.

Broward’s elections supervisor accidentally mixed more than a dozen rejected ballots with nearly 200 valid ones, a circumstance that is unlikely to help Brenda Snipes push back against Republican allegations of incompetence.

The mistake — for which no one had a solution Friday night — was discovered after Snipes agreed to present 205 provisional ballots to the Broward County canvassing board for inspection. She had initially intended to handle the ballots administratively, but agreed to present them to the canvassing board after Republican attorneys objected.

“We have found no clear authority controlling the situation faced by the board,” said Broward County Attorney Andrew Meyers.

  23. Twitter claims ‘bug’ led to major drop in followers for branded media accounts

Several branded media accounts and celebrities took a major hit on Twitter this week.

News organizations across the political spectrum lost swaths of accounts, according to data compiled by the third-party social media tracker CrowdTangle.

The New York Times, for example, had a net loss of more than 180,000 followers. During the same time frame, Fox News lost 60,000. CNN lost 193,000.

More than 30 national news organizations and political blogs showed a net loss of followers this week, an abnormal trend.

The drop in Twitter reach wasn’t contained to only media. Singer Katy Perry, who is followed by more than 100 million accounts, lost more than 3 million Twitter followers.

In recent months, a number of conservatives, including lawmakers, have alleged Twitter had been “shadow banning” them — limiting or blocking the visibility of their posts, which the company has denied.

  24. France to hunt for tax cheats on social media

PARIS (Reuters) – France’s tax administrators will start searching through social media accounts in early 2019, a pilot project in the fight against tax avoidance, Budget Minister Gerald Darmanin told weekly business TV show Capital.

The idea is to identify potential frauds by analyzing publicly-available data on individuals’ social media accounts, Darmanin said, according to excerpts of the show to be broadcast on Sunday.

“(The fiscal administration) will be able to see that if you have numerous pictures of yourself with a luxury car while you don’t have the means to own one, then maybe your cousin or your girlfriend has lent it to you… or maybe not,” Darmanin said.

The measure is part of a law France enacted last month designed to strengthen the authorities’ capacities to fight tax fraud and permit a wider use of online data to bolster fiscal controls.

  25. Philippines Says It Will Charge Veteran Journalist Critical of Duterte

SHANGHAI — The Philippine government said on Friday that it would charge a veteran journalist and her online news start-up with tax evasion, a move the publication described as an attack against media in the country by the government of President Rodrigo Duterte.

The country’s Department of Justice said it had grounds to indict the start-up, Rappler, and its founder, Maria Ressa, for tax evasion and failure to file tax returns.

Rappler denied the charges, calling the case a “clear form of continuing intimidation and harassment,” and accused the government of trying to silence critical coverage. The penalties for tax evasion include a fine as well as up to 10 years of imprisonment.

  26. Dutch doctor faces first euthanasia prosecution

The Hague (AFP) – Dutch authorities are prosecuting a doctor for euthanising an elderly woman with dementia in the first case of its kind since the practice was legalised in 2002, officials said Friday.

The female doctor, who was not named, allegedly put a sleeping drug into the 74-year-old woman’s coffee and had to ask her family to hold her down when she began to struggle.

The Netherlands and neighbouring Belgium became the first countries in the world to legalise so-called mercy killing, but it can only be carried out by doctors and under very strict conditions.

Prosecutors said the doctor in the case “overstepped the mark” with the nursing home patient, who had written a will saying she wanted to die but did not clearly say so at the time of her death.

  27. U.S. presses China to halt militarization of South China Sea

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Standing side by side, top U.S. officials urged their Chinese counterparts on Friday to halt militarization of the disputed South China Sea, drawing a rebuke from the Chinese for sending U.S. warships close to islands claimed by Beijing.

During a round of high-level talks in Washington, the two sides aired in sometimes blunt terms many of their main differences, including a bitter trade dispute, freedom of navigation in Asia-Pacific waters, self-ruled Taiwan, and China’s crackdown on its Muslim minority in Xinjiang.

Two visiting senior Chinese officials also seized the opportunity to warn publicly that a trade war between the world’s two largest economies would end up hurting both sides and to call for keeping channels of communication open to resolve an issue that has unsettled global financial markets.

Despite the airing of grievances, the talks appeared aimed at controlling the damage to relations that has worsened in recent months and at paving the way for an encounter between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Group of 20 summit in Argentina at the end of November.

“The United States is not pursuing a Cold War or containment policy with respect to China,” U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told a joint news conference.

Even as the United States and China confront difficult challenges, “cooperation remains essential on many issues,” he said, citing efforts to persuade North Korea to abandon its nuclear program.

  28. Trump, Macron agree on defense after ‘insulting’ European army spat

    https://www.oann.com/trump-macron-may-clash-on-european-defense-in-paris-talks/

PARIS (Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump and France’s Emmanuel Macron agreed on Saturday on the need for more European defense spending, papering over an earlier Trump tweet that had described Macron’s call for a European army as “very insulting”.

Meeting for talks at the Elysee a day before commemorations to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One, Macron welcomed Trump under rainy Parisian skies with a firm handshake. But there appeared to be less immediate warmth in the greeting between the two than in the past.

Seated on gilded chairs in the ornate presidential palace, Macron placed his hand on Trump’s knee and referred to him as “my friend”, while Trump kept more distance, although he also talked up common ground on an issue that had caused friction.

“We want a strong Europe, it’s very important to us, and whichever way we can do it the best and more efficient would be something we both want,” said Trump.

“We want to help Europe but it has to be fair. Right now the burden sharing has been largely on the United States.”

  29. ‘Welcome war criminals!’: Topless FEMEN activists protest in Paris ahead of WWI armistice centenary

Topless activists from the radical feminist organization FEMEN were arrested in Paris, on Saturday, after staging a protest in front of the Arc de Triomphe, ahead of the international commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the armistice that ended World War I. The protesters chanted ‘welcome war criminals’ in reference to visiting foreign leaders invited to the ceremony scheduled to take place on Sunday. Activists also painted slogans on their chests denouncing ‘fake peacemakers and real dictators’.

    • Wow you know the world is in bad shape when Femen events are too boring to watch past a few seconds. And no, its not the blur. Its the lack of a point and the obvious obvious use of female sexuality as a tool to force a decidedly leftist message on the world. Much like leftist Jews use their heritage as a sword and shield, and leftist black people use their skin tone, and sometimes their history.

Its clearly an across the board tactic. Identity politics. Recognition of it seems to break the spell, but will people recognize it in time?

      • … and now have a look at Trudeau doing an uber-phoney Amerindian religious ritual — just past the 0:56 mark in this video ….

      • I’ve seen a documentary on FEMEN, don’t be fooled by these events or the rhetoric. It’s literally a cult, run by some Ukranian guy. He manipulates hapless, young women, many are strippers and the like. Some seemed mentally ill to me.
It’s a power trip for him when he puts them in harm’s way. He instructed them to slap police officers in Belarussia for example, telling them that nothing would happen. When they’re thrown in jail he doesn’t lift a finger to help them.
        He belongs in jail IMHO.

  30. Sessions signs memo curtailing DOJ use of consent decrees with police departments
Katie Benner, NYT November 9, 2018

[Ed. – This is a good thing. Consent decrees function to embed federal “monitors” in local law enforcement, reducing local accountability to voters. They also open the door wide to perpetual shakedowns of local governments by the activists who ride consent-decree coattails and wield vetoes over monitors’ assessments. In too many ways, it’s basically a syndicate racket. Not a good model for federalism.]

Former Attorney General Jeff Sessions has drastically limited the ability of federal law enforcement officials to use court-enforced agreements to overhaul local police departments accused of abuses and civil rights violations, the Justice Department announced on Thursday.

In a major last-minute act, Mr. Sessions signed a memorandum on Wednesday before President Trump fired him sharply curtailing the use of so-called consent decrees, court-approved deals between the Justice Department and local governments that create a road map of changes for law enforcement and other institutions.

The move means that the decrees, used aggressively by Obama-era Justice Department officials to fight police abuses, will be more difficult to enact. Mr. Sessions had signaled he would pull back on their use soon after he took office when he ordered a review of the existing agreements, including with police departments in Baltimore, Chicago and Ferguson, Mo., enacted amid a national outcry over the deaths of black men at the hands of officers.

  31. Dems who once demanded Trump fire Jeff Sessions now want him investigated for firing Sessions
By LU Staff November 10, 2018

For the first two years of the Trump presidency, Democratic lawmakers and their water carriers in the media never tired of demanding that he fire Attorney General Jeff Sessions. “If Trump wants to fire Jeff Sessions, let him – it would be a gift to America,” blared a headline in The Guardian in July. By September, the natives had grown restless, judging from the title of a post by CNN’s Chris Cillizza, which asked, “Why the hell hasn’t Donald Trump just fired Jeff Sessions?”

So now that the president has finally gone ahead and given Sessions his walking papers, is the Left happy? Foolish question. The Left is never happy unless they are in charge of government. And since that’s not the case, they now want Trump’s blood.

Soon after word came that Sessions was out, Democratic minority leader Nancy Pelosi tweeted:

  33. Stacey Abrams, Dems attempt to run illegal ads in support of a non-existent gubernatorial run-off
By LU Staff November 10, 2018

The Democratic Party of Georgia tried purchasing airtime on Friday to run campaign ads on a local Atlanta channel on behalf of defeated gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams.

Abrams and the Democratic Party attempted to buy a $250,000 advertisement on Atlanta-based WSB-TV in order to promote a gubernatorial runoff despite her Republican challenger, former Secretary of State Brian Kemp, winning over 50% of the vote. In the state of Georgia, a runoff is only triggered if neither candidate reaches at least half of the total votes.

The ad request, which was reportedly approved by Abrams and would have been paid for using campaign funds, may violate campaign finance laws since a runoff election has not been declared and is thereby not a sanctioned election.

“Stacey Abrams’s ambitions of getting a TV talk show or running for office again as an aggrieved member of our victim culture are leading her to make reckless and illegal decisions,” said John Watson, chairman of the Georgia GOP. “Her actions are harmful to Georgians who want to come together and work for the future. She is putting herself above the will of Georgians and is damaging to our state.”

  34. German Police Foil Plot in Army, Special Forces to Kill Politicians – Report (sputniknews, Nov 10, 2018)
    https://sputniknews.com/europe/201811101069694506-german-military-plot-spoiled/

“While investigating the case of Franco A, a German military officer who falsely registered himself as a Syrian refugee and allegedly planned to carry out terror attacks, police uncovered a much greater threat hiding within Germany’s army and special forces.

Investigators with the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) stumbled upon signs that a conspiracy had been organized within the German Bundeswehr, special forces command (KSK) and an association of elite soldiers, Uniter eV, the German magazine Focus reported, citing investigation materials.

A group of preppers who believe that a government collapse is imminent has been preparing for a so-called “day X” in order to gather all unwanted politicians “in one place with intent to kill them,” the police learned.

The full list of targets hasn’t been discovered yet, but according to the magazine, the head of the Left Party in the Bundestag, Dietmar Bartsch, was at the top of the list. It is so far unclear what the plotters were planning to do after the assassinations.

According to the outlet, members of the “conspiracy network” have been stocking up on weapons, ammunition and fuel in order to implement their plans. Members of the group, who were reportedly serving both in the German army and special forces, discussed their next moves via chats and private meetings.

The BKA’s investigation almost became stuck at a roadblock, as one of the network’s member’s, a lieutenant colonel with the Military Counterintelligence Service (MAD), tried to derail the investigation, Focus added. He warned co-conspirators within the KSK about upcoming searches and the overall progress of the investigation. The man is now charged and his case will be reviewed by the District Court of Cologne.

The investigation found signs of a conspiracy while they were looking into the case of a right-wing Bundeswehr soldier, Franco A, who had planned to commit terrorist attacks against German authorities. Being a German citizen, he reportedly cheated the country’s migration service, having it register him as a Syrian refugee in order to shift blame for the attacks onto immigrants.

German officials have yet to comment on the revelations of the investigation. Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, the defence spokeswoman for the Free Democrats, said that the Bundestag’s specialized committees had not been informed about the uncovered conspiracy.”

  35. Dhimmitude: UK Turns Away Pakistani Christian to Appease ‘Sections of the Community’, Islamist Terrorists (breitbart, Nov 10, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/11/10/dhimmitude-britain-turns-away-pakistani-christian-appease-sections-community-islamist-terrorists/

“The British government has turned away a Pakistani Christian who faces mob justice after a death sentence for blasphemy against Islam was overturned, allegedly to appease “certain sections of the community” at home and Islamist terrorists who might be inclined to attack British embassies abroad.

Asia Bibi languished on death row for years after a blasphemy conviction for drinking from the same vessel as two Muslim women, recently quashed by Pakistan’s supreme court.

Huge mobs of Islamic hardliners have taken to the streets since the ruling, however, demanding her execution and threatening to kill her themselves — prompting the woman, her family, and her lawyer to seek refuge abroad.

“I am requesting the Prime Minister of the UK help us and as far as possible grant us freedom,” pleaded husband Ashiq Masih in an appeal to the country’s former colonial power.

The British government has reportedly rejected this plea, despite having previously signed up to take large numbers of migrants claiming to be children from France, as well as from refugee camps near Syria — although these were 100 percent Muslim in the early part of 2018, with all Christians rejected…”

    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/11/10/greek-cops-catch-pakistani-people-smugglers-bringing-migrants-turkey/

“Greek police say they have arrested two Pakistani migrant traffickers operating from Turkey.

Police nabbed the suspects, 23 and 26, on Friday as they carried nine migrants from Pakistan and one from Bangladesh, across a river separating Greece and Turkey. The two suspects had just landed their small boat on the Greek side.

Across the river, about 80 migrants were waiting to be transported by the same boat.

Police said Saturday the traffickers were operating out of Turkey and were previously unknown to them.

The Greek-Turkish border is a busy migrant smuggling route. After crossing the river, migrants are packed in cars and vans to be transported to Thessaloniki, Athens, or another country…”
