      • Democrat lawyers are descending on Florida’: Republicans blast recount effort

        By Alex Daugherty

        WASHINGTON

Republicans went on the offensive on Thursday as the race for three statewide offices in Florida tightened amid intense scrutiny over vote counting in Democrat-heavy Broward County.

“Broward election supervisors ongoing violation of Florida law requiring timely reporting isn’t just annoying incompetence,” Sen. Marco Rubio tweeted, referring to Broward Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes. “It has opened the door for lawyers to come here & try to steal a seat in the U.S. Senate and Florida Cabinet.”

Rubio was referring to the races for state agriculture commissioner, where Democrat Nikki Fried opened up a tiny lead of 564 votes over Republican Matt Caldwell on Thursday afternoon, and the most expensive race in U.S. Senate history, between Republican Rick Scott and Democrat Bill Nelson. Scott had a lead of 17,344 votes as of Thursday afternoon, within the threshold for a manual recount.

“Latest ballots dumped by Broward &/or Palm Beach flipped Ag. Comm race to Dem & shaved another 4k from Scott’s lead in Senate race,” Rubio tweeted. “Since 3am Wed. slow drip from these 2 Dem controlled counties cut Scott lead from 54 to 17K. And they refuse to disclose # of ballots they have left.”

      • Florida teacher finds ‘provisional ballot box’ in storage area

A teacher in Florida found a container labeled “Provisional Ballot Box” in a storage area of her elementary school on Thursday.

Lakeisha Williams, of Broward County, said she discovered the ballot box two days after Election Day at Miramar Elementary School — where it was apparently left behind by election workers.

“I went into the area that we use for storage and saw it in there,” Williams told The Post.

Williams said she did not touch or look inside the box. Instead, she told the school’s principal and they decided to contact a local state representative.

      • FL recount: Hillary’s dossier lawyer Elias rides in for Dems – but real story is his biggest hits with recounts like Franken 2008, WA governor race 2004
By J.E. Dyer November 9, 2018When Sen. Marco Rubio put out an incendiary tweet thread Thursday morning indicating grave concern that Democrats were making an attempt to steal the two major races in Florida – governor and U.S. senator – I wasn’t the only one startled and fascinated by the move.

It’s a big allegation, after all. It wasn’t that long ago that it would have been all but unthinkable for a sitting U.S. senator to clearly imply it, especially in a casual but high-profile social media forum.

        • She isn’t saying the Dems are trying to steal the elections in Florida, Georgia and Arizona but we all know that is what is happening. There are some Dem supporters who are so indoctrinated that they think all the Dems are trying to do is stop vote fraud. I don’t know how all of this is going to play out but the Dems are messing around trying to disenfranchise people at a time where the people who love freedom are getting scared about what will happen if the Dems get their way.

      • Governor Rick Scott warns ‘rampant fraud’ possible in Broward, Palm Beach counties

TALLAHASSEE (FOX 13/AP) – Gov. Rick Scott’s Senate campaign is suing the Broward County elections supervisor to turn over records regarding how ballots are being counted.

During a news conference Thursday night, Scott accused election officials in Broward and Palm Beach counties of trying to thwart the will of the voters, as recounts seem likely for several statewide races.

Scott said he is ordering the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to investigate elections offices in Broward and Palm Beach counties.

      • Governor Rick Scott claims election fraud, orders law enforcement investigation

Florida Republican Governor Rick Scott, who is involved in a tight contest with incumbent Democratic US Senator Bill Nelson for one of the state’s US Senate seat, made claims on Thursday that officials in two Florida counties are tampering with election results.

Scott, using his authority as governor, got involved in his own race by ordering law enforcement officials to investigate board of election actions in Broward and Palm Beach Counties.

Scott’s US Senate campaign, along with the Republican Senate campaign arm, filed a lawsuit claiming that election officials in Broward County are refusing to release public records.

“Every Floridian should be concerned there may be rampant fraud happening in both Broward and Palm Beach counties,” the governor said.

Officials in the two Florida counties, which are Democratic-leaning, are continuing to count ballots two days after the polls closed.

  2. Indonesian officer shoots armed militant to stop his attack (abcnews, Nov 9, 2018)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/militant-shot-attack-indonesia-police-59075406

“A suspected Islamic militant’s frenzied attack on a police station in the Indonesian capital was thwarted by an officer who shot the man in the hand, police said Friday.

Jakarta police spokesman Argo Yuwono said the knife and machete-wielding man repeatedly shouted “God is Great” as he attacked officers, chasing some through the building and smashing a glass door.

One officer suffered light injuries to his arm from a machete blow and another shot the attacker’s hand, forcing him to drop the weapon.

Police are a frequent target of attacks by militants in Muslim-majority Indonesia, who see them as representing the power of the secular government that they want replaced by an Islamic state.

Yuwono said the 31-year-old man, identified as Rohandi, arrived at the police station in Jakarta’s north on a motorbike after midnight and tried to attack at least half a dozen officers by throwing his knife and striking out with the machete.

He said the attacker’s house has been searched and counter-terrorism police are involved in the investigation…”

    • Great marksmanship!
And.. it’s another case of a hajji bringing a knife to a gunfight. They do it on purpose, it’s a type of suicide-by-cop. Die as a jihadi, get 72 virgins.

      • Assuming he was aiming for the hand, it is just as likely that he was aiming for the body and adrenaline and pain caused him to miss. Although he may have been aiming for the hand or knife, in fights like that excited people often aim for the weapon because their brain sees the weapon as the threat not the person wielding the weapon. If he as dazed this is the most likely explanation for his shooting hte hand.

        • In the Ferguson shooting the cop that the big thug had beaten so bad was dazed and his brain kept focusing on the right hand that had hurt him as the threat. That is why so many of the rounds fired went into the arm, when the cop either steadied down or more likely missed and hit him in the heart the fight was over. I wish I had $10.00 for every time I had to explain that to various people shortly after the shooting.

  3. Melbourne incident: Man arrested after fire and stabbings (BBC, Nov 9, 2018)
    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-46147581

“A man has been arrested after a “small number of people” suffered stab wounds in an incident in central Melbourne in Australia, police say.

Victoria Police said the arrested man had been taken into custody in a critical condition. They had initially been called to reports of a car fire.

The condition of those with stab wounds is not yet clear.

“Police are not looking for anyone further at this early stage,” Victoria Police said in a statement.

The police and State Premier Daniel Andrews asked people to avoid the area.

This is a breaking news story – more to follow.”

  4. Swedish Parliament Considers Extending Full Voting Rights to Refugees, Foreigners (breitbart, Nov 9, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/11/09/swedish-left-party-parliament-motion-expand-voting-rights-refugees-foreigners/

“The Swedish Left Party has introduced a parliamentary motion that would allow foreign nationals, as well as refugees, to vote in both national and European Parliament elections.

The motion argues that refugees and foreign residents should have the same voting franchise as Swedish citizens saying, “Today, there are many people who are permanently resident in Sweden and who are only able to influence their everyday lives through democratic elections to the municipal and county councils.”

“The people denied today to exercise a democratic influence in referendums, parliamentary elections, and EU parliamentary elections include those who came to Sweden as refugees, who are spouses of Swedish citizens, or who immigrated to Sweden, for example, to study or work,” the motion adds.

The party argues that giving non-citizens the same voting rights as citizens would “involve a greater sense of participation, togetherness, and increased self-esteem” among migrants currently ineligible to vote.

The motion also requests that the voting age is lowered to 16 in local elections to “attract young people’s interest and commitment to politics.”

Sweden is not the first country to seek to expand the franchise to refugees. Earlier this year, the Scottish National Party proposed giving both refugees and asylum seekers the right to vote in Scottish elections.

“Scotland is a welcoming country and our intention to extend the opportunity to vote to all those legally resident in Scotland, whatever their place of birth, I think should extend to refugees and asylum seekers,” said SNP parliamentary business minister Joe Fitzpatrick.

While Sweden has, in the last few years, seen large population growth due to mass migration and the arrivals of asylum seekers, some have pointed out how few minority MPs there are and how even fewer live in heavily migrant populated areas.

The concept of demographic replacement has also become a concern for the populist Sweden Democrats (SD) with SD MP Richard Jomshof recently giving a speech in parliament warning that native Swedes were on their way to becoming a minority in their own country without changes to mass migration policies.”

    • Onlookers shout “just shoot him,” while it seems the police wait forever. I think many things go through a cop’s mind at this time, including worries of whether he will be somehow found guilty of murder.

  11. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, 85, misses Trump attending Brett Kavanaugh’s formal investiture after she is hospitalized with three broken ribs after fall

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was hospitalized after a fall in her office that led her to fracture three of her ribs, it was announced Thursday.

The 85-year old was admitted ‘for observation and treatment’ after the Wednesday fall, according to a statement put out by the Supreme Court.

The court says the justice went to George Washington University Hospital in Washington early Thursday after experiencing discomfort overnight. The court says the fall occurred Wednesday evening.

The hospital treatment meant that she was not present as President Trump went to the high court Thursday for the formal swearing in ceremony for Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

  12. Protesters target home of Fox News’ Tucker Carlson

WASHINGTON (AP) — Police say they are investigating a protest and vandalism at the home of Fox News host Tucker Carlson as a possible hate crime. It’s the latest example of protesters targeting the personal lives of Trump administration officials and allies in the D.C. area.

Carlson, in a phone interview with his network Thursday night, called the incident “chilling” and “upsetting.”

Washington’s Metropolitan Police Department reported that officers were summoned to Carlson’s home Wednesday evening and found about 20 protesters and a commonly used anarchy symbol spray-painted on the driveway.

  13. Migrant caravan to leave Mexico City for US border

A group of thousands of Central American migrants on Friday will leave Mexico City and continue their journey toward the U.S. as the Trump administration takes steps to limit their ability to request asylum.

The migrants, who number between 4,000 and 5,000, voted Thursday night to resume walking to the U.S. border Friday, according to USA Today.

The vote follows a Thursday declaration from the White House that it would seek to clamp down on asylum claims at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Under current law, migrants can request asylum either by presenting themselves at legal ports of entry or by sidestepping those ports and crossing the border illegally. The new rules would disallow those migrants who cross illegally from seeking asylum and instead place them in expedited deportation proceedings.

Critics have long noted that extended wait times at ports of entry may not be an option for migrants fleeing danger in their home countries.

  14. Trump limits asylum, says migrants must “have merit’

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Friday invoked extraordinary national security powers to deny asylum to migrants who enter the country illegally, tightening the border as caravans of Central Americans slowly approach the United States.

Trump is using the same powers he used to push through a version of the travel ban that was upheld by the Supreme Court. The proclamation puts into place regulations adopted Thursday that circumvent laws stating that anyone is eligible for asylum no matter how he or she enters the country.

“We need people in our country but they have to come in legally and they have to have merit,” Trump said Friday as he departed for Paris.

Administration officials say the measures, likely to face legal challenges, go into effect Saturday for at least three months, but could be extended. They don’t affect people who are already in the country.

  16. At China’s Internet Conference, a Darker Side of Tech Emerges

WUZHEN, China — Every year at the World Internet Conference, held since 2014 in the photogenic canal town of Wuzhen near Shanghai, companies and government officials have convened to send a message: China is a high-tech force to be reckoned with.

With that message now settled beyond much doubt, this year’s conference showcased something different. China’s tech industry is becoming more serious about grappling with its products’ unintended consequences — and about helping the government.

Discussions of technology’s promise were leavened with contemplation of its darker side effects, such as fraud and data breaches. A forum on protecting personal information featured representatives from China’s highest prosecutor and its powerful internet regulator. And several tech companies pledged their support for Beijing’s counterterrorism efforts, even as China faces international criticism for detaining and indoctrinating Muslims in the name of fighting terrorism in the western region of Xinjiang.

“Tencent has been dedicated to dealing with terrorist information online and other internet crimes, in line with the government’s crackdown,” Chen Yong, an executive in Tencent’s security management department, said at the event.

Anti-Semitic acts in France rose by 69 percent in the first nine months of 2018, Prime Minister Édouard Philippe said Friday, on the 80th anniversary of the infamous “Kristallnacht” attacks on Jews in Nazi Germany.

Kristallnacht (also known as the Night of Broken Glass) refers to the smashed windows of Jewish shops and homes that happened in Nazi Germany during a heightened wave of violent anti-Jewish pogroms that took place on November 9-10, 1938. At least 91 Jewish people were killed and up to 30,000 men were rounded up and taken to concentration camps.

“Every aggression perpetrated against one of our citizens because they are Jewish echoes like the breaking of new crystal,” Prime Minister Édouard Philippe wrote in the statement on Facebook, referring to Kristallnacht.

  19. CNN host compares Trump to gangster who ‘danced on grave’ of those who didn’t ‘show fealty’
By Howard Portnoy November 9, 2018

There’s a rather grisly scene in Brian De Palma’s “The Untouchables” where Al Capone (portrayed aptly by Robert De Niro) is hosting a gala dinner for the higher-ups in his criminal empire. Holding aloft a baseball bat at one point, he extols America’s pastime and its emphasis on teamwork. He then uses the bat to bash in the brains of a disloyal division head.

That may have been one of the scenes that came to the mind of CNN host Jake Tapper as he tore into the president for what some have characterized as his callous reaction in this post-election presser to candidates who “who tried to run their own campaigns — and lost,” in the words of the Miami Herald.

“…[Y]ou had some who decided, ‘Let’s stay away, let’s stay away.’ They did very poorly,” the paper quotes him as saying. “I’m not sure that I should be happy or sad, but I feel just fine about it.”

Whether that is an extraordinary reaction remains to be seen. No doubt previous presidents have felt that no love was lost with regard to candidates who “dared to criticize” them “publicly” (again the Herald’s words).

    • Russia: Taliban to hold talks with US before negotiating with Kabul

Head of the Taliban’s political office in Doha Stanakzai Mohammad Abbas has ruled out holding negotiations with the Afghan government before a peace settlement has been reached with the Americans. He was speaking in Moscow on Friday on the sidelines of multilateral peace consultations on Afghanistan.

“This government has come to power under the shadow of the invasion and with some sort of compromise between the Americans and the political parties in Afghanistan,” he said, adding “this government does not represent the people of Afghanistan that’s why we deny always direct negotiations with them before we solve the problem with the Americans.”

The Taliban representative said that the group’s main aim is “to take these foreign forces out of Afghanistan.” The group has held talks with the American side, during which this goal was voiced, but Abbas admitted that these negotiations are still “in a very initial stage.”

  20. I’ll stop city being deluged by asylum seekers, vows Manchester mayor (express, Nov 9, 2018)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1043214/manchester-asylum-seekers-mayor-andy-burnham

“MAYOR Andy Burnham sparked an immigration debate yesterday by vowing to stop Greater Manchester being swamped by any more asylum seekers.

The ex-Labour MP has written to Home Secretary Sajid Javid warning of “catastrophic failure” over the “disproportionate” number of asylum seekers his region receives. One in six people in the UK waiting to find out if they will be given refugee status is placed in Greater Manchester, which supports 6,681 asylum seekers – a 102 per cent increase since 2003. But 180 areas across the UK – including Prime Minister Theresa May’s local authority of Maidenhead – house none at all.

Mr Burnham is threatening to withdraw his region from voluntary placement programmes unless asylum seekers are distributed more equally.

He also said the current Home Office approach jeopardises the Asylum Accommodation Support Transformation dispersal contracts set to launch next year.

The new contracts – worth more than £4billion over 10 years – are currently out to tender.

Mr Burnham wrote: “For too long, asylum dispersal has been imposed on Greater Manchester with little heed paid to cohesion or large numbers.

“It cannot be right that towns have more asylum seekers clustered in a handful of wards than entire regions in the rest of the country.

“The prospect of this continuing for another 10 years is completely unacceptable.

“It will harm communities and be of no benefit to those who are asked to live within them.”

The Home Office said it was working with local authorities in the North-west “to deliver on our statutory obligation to house destitute asylum seekers whilst asylum claims are determined”.”

  21. More than 50 MPs call on U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to block Tommy Robinson’s visit to America amid ‘grave concern’ he’ll use it to spread his ‘extremist agenda’ (dailymail, Nov 9, 2018)
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6371267/MPs-call-Mike-Pompeo-block-Tommy-Robinsons-visit-America.html

“A group of British MPs has urged U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo not to allow anti-Islam activist Tommy Robinson into America.

Robinson, a founder and former member of the far-Right group the English Defence League, has been invited to speak at an event in Washington later this month.

He is understood to be waiting for authorisation under the U.S.’s ESTA system before embarking on the trip, which opponents fear could open up new sources of funding for his campaigns.

A cross-party group of MPs has now written to the Trump’s administration’s Mike Pompeo, head of the U.S. State department, insisting Robinson should not be allowed to use the trip to ‘promote his violent and extremist agenda’.

The politicians say Robinson’s previous bid to get into the U.S. using someone else’s passport, for which he was jailed in 2013, should preclude him from going there again.

The letter states: ‘We hope you agree that it would send a terrible signal if a convicted felon deemed inadmissible to the United States such as Yaxley-Lennon were allowed to travel to your country and speak before a prominent audience despite his conviction for previously entering the United States illegally.

‘Clearly the gravity of his criminal serious record, his brazen violation of U.S. immigration law and the threat he poses to the American public will ensure that he isn’t granted admission to the U.S.’

The letter is signed by Tory Michael Fabricant, Labour’s Chris Bryant, Ian Austin and Luciana Berger and the Lib Dems’ Tom Brake, among others.

Robinson, who is also planning a speaking tour of Australia, has previously claimed ‘lies’ are being spread about him to prevent him from travelling.

His profile around the world grew after he was jailed for endangering the trial of an Asian grooming gang by posting videos filmed outside court online. His conviction was later quashed.

Anti-extremism group Hope Not Hate say he is now trying to cash in on the notoriety the case brought him and will use any money raised to organise ‘violent and divisive’ demonstrations…”

  22. Foreign Isil suspects executed after secret prisoner swap by UK’s allies in Syria (telegraph, Nov 9, 2018)
    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/11/09/foreign-isil-suspects-executed-secret-prisoner-swap-uks-allies/

“Foreign Islamic State suspects who were captured by the UK’s allies in Syria and then exchanged in secret prisoner swap deals have been executed by the jihadists as punishment for defecting.

At least two of those involved in the deals, including a woman from Tajikistan and a French man, were killed shortly after being sent back to Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) territory against their will, witnesses say.

The Telegraph revealed in June how hundreds of foreign men, women and children detained by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) were swapped in return for Kurdish fighters held by Isil.

Legal groups on Friday expressed concern that Isil suspects who were forcibly sent…”

  23. UK Court Authorizes Search for Records of US Military Abuses in Iraq – Reports (sputniknews, Nov 9, 2018)
    https://sputniknews.com/world/201811091069668886-uk-iraq-us-abuses/

“The UK Ministry of Defense was ordered to submit any military reports by the country’s troops that contained allegations of US servicemen mistreating detainees in Iraq in 2004-2008, The Guardian reported Friday.

According to the outlet, the same judge who ruled on the order had also dealt last month with the case of two Iraqis arrested in 2008 in Basra on suspicions of posing a security threat and transferred to the US military.

The two men claimed they had been beaten, deprived of sleep and sexually abused while in US custody, the media said.

The court ordered the ministry to search for reports containing any allegations of US military’s mistreatment of Iraqis between 2004 and 2008 and to disclose the findings by November 26, the newspaper added.

The United States launched a military operation in Iraq in March 2003 to overthrow former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein whom Washington accused of links to Al-Qaeda, the terrorist organization (banned in Russia) behind the 9/11 attacks.”

Dover Lifeboat of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, which runs a 24-hour rescue service in the UK and Ireland, was launched at 2am.

The lifeboat crew rescued a group of men in the English channel waters, who were identified as migrants. The UK Border Force were contacted and subsequently brought the men ashore.

The seven men, who said they were Iranian, were seen by medics but did not require any treatment.

Immigration officials were expected to interrogate the rescued group on Friday morning.

“HM Coastguard is currently assisting Border Force with an incident in the Dover Channel,” a brief statement by HM Coastguard said.

The English Channel separated the United Kingdom from continental Europe and is a busy shipping area. Numerous cases migrants attempting to cross the Channel to get to Britain or instances of people-smuggling across the water strip have been registered in the past years…”

  25. Local Labour Accused of Trying to ‘Dilute’ Scrutiny of Grooming Gang Inquiry (breitbart, Nov 9, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/11/09/local-labour-govt-accused-trying-dilute-scrutiny-huddersfield-grooming-gang-inquiry/

“Conservative Party councillors in Kirklees have accused their Labour colleagues of attempting to “dilute” the terms of an inquiry into the Huddersfield grooming gang after 20 mostly Pakistani-Muslim men were jailed for the historic abuse of 15 vulnerable girls.
Tory councillors called for an independent inquiry following the grooming gang scandal at Huddersfield Town Hall Wednesday night over concerns that the chairman of the proposed review, Dr Mark Peel of the Leeds Children’s Safeguarding Partnership, was “too close” to affiliated organisations that may be under scrutiny and “cannot be regarded as impartial,” reports ExaminerLive.

“It is time Kirklees Council and West Yorkshire Police recognised their responsibility to the victims and the parents, and backed a comprehensive judge-led public inquiry into what went wrong,” Councillor Nigel Patrick said.

However, a Labour amendment to the motion removed reference to Kirklees council and the left-wing dominated council voted to call on the Home Secretary for an inquiry “to examine the role of public bodies and statutory agencies charged with protecting children and apprehending and convicting criminals” nationally, instead.

Conservative councillor Bill Armer called the amendment and vote “disgraceful,” adding that “It dilutes the attention on this council, on the police and on other partner agencies in this borough.

“There have been major problems. I don’t think anyone would disagree with that. There have, I would suggest, been major failings within this borough.”

“Let’s not dilute things and look at the whole of England and Wales. Let’s look at Kirklees,” he added.

Tory group leader David Hall, who proposed the initial motion, warned that the local authority should not “be trying to obfuscate, to cover up what we’re trying to do by introducing a lot of other stuff. It was simple to begin with. It could have been adhered to.”

Labour councillors denied that they were trying to dilute a fair, impartial local enquiry, with Shabir Pandor, the leader of the Labour-run council, saying the matter was “bigger than what is happening in Kirklees.”

Tory concerns into potential failures by council and police are not unfounded in the national context of grooming gangs, after the Jay Report, ordered following the revelations of widespread abuse of white girls by Pakistani Muslims in Rotherham, found “blatant” failures by South Yorkshire Police and the Labour-run local council which ignored girls’ abuse because of political correctness.

Tory councillor Mr Hall said that he would be writing to Home Secretary Sajid Javid to express his disagreement with the direction his council has taken.

Mr Javid doubled down this week on his comments made last month condemning the 20 Huddersfield “sick Asian paedophiles,” saying that people who were offended by him making note of the rapists’ ethnicity were being “oversensitive.”

“I don’t regret it at all,” he told Sky News Thursday.

“When I made that comment I was stating the facts, and the sad truth is that if you look at recent high-profile convictions of gang-based child sexual exploitation there is a majority of people that come from Pakistani heritage backgrounds — that’s plain for everyone to see.””

  26. Khan’s London: Romanian Family Leaves Britain After Gang Murders Son, Capital ‘Too Dangerous’ (breitbart, Nov 9, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/11/09/khans-london-romanian-family-leaves-britain-gang-murders-son-city-too-dangerous/

“A family from Romania have left Britain after one of them was murdered in Sadiq Khan’s London, saying the city is “too dangerous”.

Beniamin Pieknyi, 21, and a friend were targeted randomly by a multi-racial gang led by Ukrainian migrant Valdyslav Yakymchuk — who had been in the country for only two years — in the Stratford Centre.

CCTV footage shows the gang had been harassing members of the public for some time when they came across Beniamin and his friend, and began goading them, throwing punches, stealing a water bottle from Beniamin and taking his friend’s glasses.

The pair were ushered away by a security guard, but the gang pursued them, cornering him in a Subway restaurant and administering a savage beating before Yakymchuk produced a long blade and stabbed him in the heart…”

  27. Polls: Populist Anti-Mass Migration Parties Leading in France, Hungary, and Italy (breitbart, Nov 9, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/11/09/polls-populist-anti-mass-migration-parties-leading-france-hungary-italy/

“Fresh polling show a massive surge in support for anti-mass migration populist parties in France, Italy, and Hungary with the pro-sovereignty parties now leading their rivals going into next year’s European Parliament election.

A Hungarian national poll released earlier this week, conducted by Medián, shows Fidesz, the party of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, along with their Christian Democratic People’s Party allies, to have increased their already huge lead over their rivals to a total score of 63 per cent, with the second most popular party Jobbik at a mere 11 per cent.

In Italy, the popularity of populist Interior Minister Matteo Salvini continues to see the League dominate the polls where the party has consistently outperformed their coalition partners, the Five Star Movement, since July.

Salvini has been shown to be the most trusted politician in Italy according to a poll from the Giorno newspaper released in July. The Five Star Movement and its leader Luigi Di Maio, meanwhile, have struggled to implement their economic reforms which include a basic citizen income due to pushback from the European Commission.

A Noto poll shows the League at 31 per cent, four points ahead of the Five Star Movement at 27 per cent and 13 per cent ahead of the mainstream Democratic Party.

In France, the popularity of President Emmanuel Macron has plummeted in recent months to an all-time low of only 21 per cent in a poll released last week. The drop in popularity has also had a knock-on effect on Macron’s La République En Marche! (Republic on the Move/LREM) which now trail behind the populist Rassemblement National (National Rally/RN) led by presidential runner-up Marine Le Pen.

The next major election for all three countries will come in May next year when the members of the European Union vote in the next European Parliament election. An Elabe poll for the parliament election also shows the RN with a slight lead over Macron’s LREM.

The polls also come after alliances have formed between the conservative and populist leaders in Hungary, Italy, and France. In August, Mr Salvini met with Prime Minister Orbán as both pledged to form a populist front against the globalists in the European Union aligned with French President Macron.

Last month, Salvini met with RN leader Marine Le Pen in Rome and announced the prospect of a “Freedom Front” to unite the populists in the European Parliament.

With some calling for Orbán and Fidesz to be kicked out of the conservative European People’s Party (EPP) parliamentary group, the prospect of an Orbán-Salvini-Le Pen alliance could become a reality.”

  28. 4 car bombs explode by hotel in Somalia’s capital; 20 dead (abcnews, Nov 9, 2018)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/car-bombs-explode-front-hotel-somalias-capital-59082551

“Four car bombs by Islamic extremists exploded outside a hotel in the capital, Mogadishu, killing at least 20 people and injuring 17, said police.

After the three explosions in front of the hotel, a fourth blast hit as medics attempted to rescue the injured.

The suicide bombs detonated near the perimeter wall of the Sahafi Hotel, which is located across the street from the Somali Police Force’s Criminal Investigations Department, said Capt. Mohamed Hussein.

Some of the victims were burned beyond recognition when one car bomb exploded next to a minibus, he said.

Somali security forces shot dead four gunmen who tried to storm through a hole blown into the hotel’s wall but did not succeed in entering, he said.

“Although they failed to access the hotel, the blasts outside the hotel killed many people,” said Hussein.

“The street was crowded with people and cars, bodies were everywhere,” said Hussein Nur, a shopkeeper who suffered light shrapnel injuries on his right hand. “Gunfire killed several people, too.”

Somalia’s Islamic extremist rebels, al-Shabab, claimed responsibility for the bombs, according to the group’s Adalus radio station.

Among the dead was the manager of the Sahafi Hotel, whose father was the owner of the hotel before he was killed in an al-Shabab attack on establishment in 2015, said police Capt. Hussein.”

“Islamic State group militants shot and killed two children during an operation to liberate a group of hostages from southern Syria that were being held by the extremist group since July, a father and activists said Friday.

Nashaat Abu Ammar, a resident of Sweida whose wife, two sons and daughter were among those being held by IS, said his 8-year-old son Raafat was among the two boys shot dead during the Syrian army raid to free the hostages. A 13-year-old boy, Qusay, was also killed.

“They shot him in his mother’s lap,” Abu Ammar told The Associated Press by telephone from Sweida, his voice breaking up with emotion.

State media reported Thursday evening that troops liberated the 19 women and children held by IS in a military operation in central Syria, triggering celebrations in Sweida. “My happiness is huge,” Abu Ammar, reached by the AP, said then…”

  30. Canadian police testify about Amor Ftouhi’s ‘will and testament’ left in Montreal

    + video

FLINT (WJRT) (11/8/2018) – It was clear from the testimony of seven witnesses who took the stand against Amor Ftouhi Thursday Ftouhi had plans to die.

A special agent with the FBI said Ftouhi’s death wish was fueled by his religion. The agent testified to his interview with Ftouhi right after he was arrested on June 21, 2017.

He said Ftouhi “wanted to kill and be killed” hoping it’d be easier for him to get into heaven.

Now to do that, we’ve learned he had plans to kill Bishop Airport’s Lt. Jeff Neville by stabbing him, then he was going to steal his gun.

The special agent said Ftouhi told him he planned to use that gun to kill other U.S. government employees, because he blamed the U.S. for supporting Israel and other conflicts in the world.

Now, the defense made it clear Ftouhi didn’t want to kill innocent civilians; but, the agent testified Ftouhi said he’d be forgiven by Allah if innocent people were killed.

Also, from that witness we learned Ftouhi didn’t have any communication with Al Qaeda, ISIS or any other terrorist organization; but, the FBI agent said Ftouhi told them he celebrated the attack on September 11, 2001. He had been living in Tunisia at the time.

Ftouhi did not achieve his goal. Lt Neville suffered two stab wounds in his neck, but is okay.

The FBI agent testified Ftouhi asked them if he had died. The agent replied that he didn’t know. And he said Ftouhi looked disappointed and began to tear up, saying his mission wasn’t complete.

A corporal with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police also took the stand Thursday.

Her team searched Ftouhi’s two-bedroom apartment in Montreal a day after the attack. He lived there with his wife and three kids.

The Corporal said Ftouhi left behind a will and testament, which she found in a locked safe in his closet.

Ftouhi teared up as the woman read it aloud.

It was translated from Arabic. In it, he told his wife he loved her, but his love for God and jihad was greater.

Ftouhi also told his kids not to mourn his death for more than three days and reminded them to pay bills before their due dates. And, he encouraged his wife to use his life insurance to return to Tunisia and start a business, mentioning he couldn’t find a job and had mounting debt.

It was later discovered several of the religious statements he wrote came from a videoed sermon the FBI found on his tablet.

That tablet was discovered inside his luggage that the FBI said he left in the airport bathroom when he went to attack Lt. Jeff Neville.

Videos on how to hold an assault rifle, speed reload an assault rifle and how to disarm someone were also found on the tablet.

Ftouhi’s van was also searched at the airport. Agents testified a machete, list of gun and knife shows in Michigan and a GPS were found inside.

That’s how they discovered each spot Ftouhi had stopped at since entering the U.S.

The government also mentioned Ftouhi was at the airport the day before the attack for two hours casing the place. We’re expecting to hear more on that when the final 10 witnesses take the stand Friday.

  31. Brazil Risks Middle East Trade With Israel Embassy Move

A proposal by Brazil’s next president to relocate its embassy in Israel, following US President Donald Trump’s lead, may set off a diplomatic storm in the Muslim world, threatening a key market for the world’s largest meat companies.

Brazil is by far the world’s largest exporter of halal meat, which complies with Muslim dietary rules. President-elect Jair Bolsonaro’s plans to move Brazil’s embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, strengthening relations with Israel, has already upset Egypt and could soon stir trouble with other Islamic nations.

“The reaction will be given not only as an individual country but on behalf of the whole Muslim world,” a Turkish diplomatic source told Reuters on condition of anonymity. “We are expecting Brazil to act with reason and not confront the Muslim world.”

Brazil exports $16 billion annually to the Middle East and Turkey, with just 3 percent going to Israel, according to government statistics.

More than a quarter of Brazil’s exports to the region are meat. Both Brazil’s JBS SA, the world’s top beef producer, and BRF SA, the No. 1 poultry exporter, have bet big on the growing demand for halal meat.

Brazil exports over $5 billion of halal meat per year, more than twice its nearest rivals, Australia and India, according to Salaam Gateway, a partnership between the Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre and Thomson Reuters.

THIS is what a peace protest looks like

Today over 2,000 Israeli high schoolers completed a 90 km march from the Gaza border communities to Jerusalem, in a symbolic protest for peace in southern Israael.

The teens are speaking out against the apathy to the non-stop rocket fire, tunnels, arson attacks, and violence by Palestinian terrorists at the Gaza border.

For many of them, their ENTIRE LIVES have been under fire. The multi-day march began with 150 students and finished today with 2,000 – chanting, singing, and holding signs for peace!

  33. New U.S. Sanctions on Iran Omit Half of Entities Tied to Tehran’s Terror-Tied Fighting Force

The Trump administration’s new sanctions on Iran, which came into effect on Monday, omit half of key entities tied to Tehran’s army forces and hardline paramilitary group known for conducting terror operations across the globe, according to a new analysis by a top watchdog organization.

New U.S. sanctions on Iran—which have come under fierce criticism by Iran hawks in Congress and elsewhere for providing major concessions to Iran and its European business partners—have failed to cover “half of the publicly listed firms under the principal control of the regime’s security forces,” according to research conducted by the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a think tank that has worked closely with the administration on national security issues.

The failure of the new sanctions to hit these key sources of funding for the hardline Iranian regime is likely to provide further grist to Iran hawks in Congress and their allies who have expressed frustration over what they say is the Trump administration’s failure to uphold its vow to fully sanction Iran and choke off the regime’s primary funding sources.

The Washington Free Beacon first reported last week that the administration has made a series of last-minute concessions to Iran and its European partners that some have warned will leave Tehran the financial resources to continue its rogue military and terrorist operations across the globe.
