The #Liberal’s rushed election bill will be arriving in Senate next week. Did you know that non-resident Canadians — who may not have lived here for 20+ years and who have no intention of ever living in Canada or paying CDN taxes will now be allowed to vote? What do you think?

  2. UN to investigate Saudi Arabia’s human rights record (DW, Nov 5, 2018)
    https://www.dw.com/en/un-to-investigate-saudi-arabias-human-rights-record/a-46153199

“Saudi Arabia faces international condemnation for its apparent murder of Jamal Khashoggi and its ongoing war in Yemen. The UK and the US are reportedly working on a joint resolution to end hostilities.

The United Nations Human Rights Council is to debate on Monday the dismal human rights record of Saudi Arabia following the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi and the ongoing assault on Yemen.

The so-called Universal Periodic Review, a compulsory four-yearly process, will also focus on Riyadh’s role in Yemen’s civil war.

Meanwhile, British foreign minister Jeremy Hunt said he will lobby the UN Security Council to try and find a political solution to four years of hostilities in Yemen.

At least 10,000 have been killed in the conflict between a Saudi-backed coalition and the Iran-backed Houthi rebels, and half the nation faces imminent starvation.

Hunt’s announcement came after Washington, which has long backed the Saudis, called for Riyadh to end its airstrikes in the country. UN diplomats, speaking anonymously, told Reuters news agency Britain and the US were working on a joint resolution to stop the fighting in Yemen.

    Public grilling

The half-day public debate will see a Saudi delegation, headed by the country’s Human Rights Commission chief Bandar Al Aiban, grilled by other nations over its human rights record.

Activists have urged countries to hold Saudi Arabia to account.

“UN member states must end their deafening silence on Saudi Arabia and do their duty of scrutinizing the cruelty in the kingdom in order to prevent further outrageous human rights violations in the country and in Yemen,” Samah Hadid, Amnesty International’s Middle East director of campaigns, said in a statement.

“The Saudi government’s long-standing repression of critics, exemplified by the extrajudicial execution of journalist Jamal Khashoggi last month, has until recently been willfully ignored by UN member states,” she added.

According to publicly submitted questions, Britain, Austria and Switzerland will directly ask about the Khashoggi case. Sweden will ask how it plans to improve respect for the freedom of expression and the safety of journalists.

The US will ask whether Riyadh plans to modify its counterterrorism law to ensure the definition of “terrorism” does “not include acts of expression, association, or peaceful assembly.”

Ahead of the review, the UN rights office published a list of concerns about human rights in Saudi Arabia, including discrimination against women, continued use of the death penalty, and “extremely broad” definitions of terrorism which enables “the criminalization of some acts of peaceful expression.””

  3. Sexual harassment in Rinteln, Germany : Woman defends herself against a Lebanese man – now she is under investigation–
Last Saturday evening in Rinteln, Lower Saxony, a Lebanese attempted to sexually harass a woman on the river Weser bridge, but she was able to use pepper spray to force the attacker to flee and thus prevent worse. Now the police are investigating the woman. The police report describes the incident in detail: On Saturday around 8:35 p.m. a 20-year-old Lebanese harassed a woman on the river Weser bridge. She resists the harassment and sprays the attacker with pepper spray. This incident was described to the police officers by a witness. The fact that the young woman left before the arrival of the police and was not able to be questioned about the harassment is being used to investigate the hitherto unknown woman for dangerous bodily injury.” Reversal of perpetrator and victim ? Then the police report continues:

“Shortly after this incident, a 20-year-old Turk from the above-mentioned victim’s group sprays a group of people who were witnesses to the above-mentioned incident with a pepper spray. A 25 year old woman from Stadthagen is injured. The victim of the first bodily injury then goes towards downtown.”

If I understand the somewhat unclear text of the police correctly, the Lebanese is now seen as the victim and the woman as the perpetrator …But the night of violence in Rinteln, which was very peaceful in itself, went even further:

“On the market square the 20-year-old Lebanese strikes several people and steps after another one. Then he takes a filled glass bottle and throws it in the direction of a group of people who have observed this attack. Only by luck a 22 year old from the Extertal is not hit.Since the 20-year-old Lebanese was under the influence of alcohol and it was to be assumed that he would commit further crimes, he spent the night in a detention cell of the Rinteln police. The 20-year-old Lebanese is now under investigation for several assaults.”

According to the press release and all our experiences so far, it can be assumed that the Lebanese is now at large again and the police are still searching for the woman who simply did not want to be raped by one of our foreign guests. What signal such news sends out is clear…

  4. Man bleeds to death after penis and testicles HACKED OFF and left on fireplace (express, Nov 4, 2018)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1040457/man-penis-testicles-chopped-off-tudor-lawns-foxrock-south-dublin-murder-police

“A MAN in his 20s has had his penis, testicles and eyelids hacked off during a horrifying attack in one of Ireland’s most affluent areas.

Limbani Mzoma’s mutilated body was found in a pool of blood at around 11:30pm on Thursday.

The man, who is believed to be from Ghana, was stabbed repeatedly during the attack.

Mr Mzoma was found just hours after local police had been called to Dublin’s affluent housing estate Tudor Lawns in Foxrock to deal with a public disturbance.

According to sources his genitals were “removed from his body” along with his eyelids.

A source said: “The scene is in a house where a number of non-nationals have been living.

“There has been a lot of trouble at the property and police were called there on Thursday afternoon.

“They dealt with a public order incident and left.

“When they were called back at 11.30pm they discovered the man dead.

“The severed penis was found on top of the fireplace and they also chopped off his eyelids.”

Irish police arrested a woman in her 40’s following the incident.

She was in the house when police arrived and has been detained in Dun Laoghaire Garda Station for questioning.

Tudor Lawn residents were mortified at the death.

One elderly woman, who lives a few doors down from the crime scene, said there had been a lot of problems at the house.

She said: “I heard the commotion yesterday afternoon and then last night again.

“There was a lot of police and some ambulances there.

“There has been a lot of people coming and going from there and it has been a big worry.

“It is shocking, and tragic that someone has lost their life.

“I hope they have caught the person.”

Irish police released a statement yesterday and appealed for witnesses.

A spokesman said: “Police investigating the circumstances of the discovery of the body of a man in a house at Tudor Lawns, Foxrock have made an arrest.

“A woman has been arrested in relation to this investigation and is currently detained at Dun Laoghaire under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.””

  5. German Jews propose anti-Semitism lessons for Muslim migrants (BBC, Nov 5, 2018)
    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-46095808

“Germany’s foremost Jewish organisation has called for special classes for Muslim immigrants to help stop the spread of anti-Semitism.

Its vice-president, Abraham Lehrer, said many migrants were arriving from countries were “anti-Semitism is part of the rationale of the state”.

He said integration classes should be “tailored” by country of origin.

Germany has seen a large increase in asylum seekers since 2015, many of whom come from Muslim-majority countries.

The country is battling a wave of anti-Semitism, partly attributed to rhetoric from the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD).

Hundreds of anti-Semitic incidents were reported in Germany last year, the vast majority of which were carried out by neo-Nazi or other far-right groups.

Mr Lehrer, from the Central Council of Jews in Germany, said that anti-Semitism among migrants was a problem which “still lies ahead of us” as migrants settle permanently in the country.

“Many of these people were influenced by regimes in which anti-Semitism is part of the rationale of the state and the Jewish state is denied the right to existence,” he said in remarks reported by Deutsche Welle.

“When these people no longer just think of finding jobs and housing, this influence will have a greater bearing and people will express their opinions openly.

“In order to prevent this scenario, we need to tailor integration courses more closely to these people, preferably by country of origin.”

Mr Lehrer called for integration classes to assign hours of teaching to “fundamental values” such as democracy and the treatment of women.

But he also criticised the AfD party, saying it “creates a platform on which anti-Semitism can grow and manifest itself openly”.

He pointed to the party’s opposition to Jewish traditions such as circumcision and strict methods of animal slaughter for meat.

“The AfD is a kind of catalyst for various groups with anti-Semitic roots,” he said.

AfD, however, has denied any anti-Semitic views in the party, and opened a Jewish group within its ranks in October – a move which itself drew criticism from other German Jews.”

    • For antisemitic muslims the jew hatred is baked in, I’m afraid. I may be naive, but they happen to have a manual called the Koran that has a thing or two to say on the subject.

  6. Both Parties Brace for Surprises as Midterm Campaign Goes Down to the Wire

The most expensive midterm campaign in U.S. history raced to a finish ahead of Tuesday’s election, as both sides braced for a possible split decision that would hand the House to Democrats and leave Republicans holding onto or expanding their Senate majority.

Partisans were preparing for the unexpected, though, two years after Donald Trump stunned the nation with his surprise win. As candidates, surrogates, outside groups and the two parties frantically worked to turn out their voters, strategists for each party agreed the outcome will be determined by the composition of an electorate that’s showing signs of being larger than normal for a midterm year.

  7. U.S. imposes more sanctions on Iran, Tehran decries ‘bullying’

WASHINGTON/DUBAI (Reuters) – The United States announced a new raft of sanctions on Iran on Monday and threatened further action to pressure its old adversary, steps the Islamic Republic condemned as “economic war” and vowed to defy.

The move is part of a wider effort by U.S. President Donald Trump to curb Tehran’s missile and nuclear programs and diminish the Islamic Republic’s influence in the Middle East.

It follows Washington’s withdrawal from an 2015 international agreement on Iran’s nuclear program.

In a statement, U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said: “Treasury’s imposition of unprecedented financial pressure on Iran should make clear to the Iranian regime that they will face mounting financial isolation and economic stagnation until they fundamentally change their destabilizing behavior.”

The sanctions cover 50 Iranian banks and subsidiaries, more than 200 persons and vessels in its shipping sector, and targets Tehran’s national airline, Iran Air, and more than 65 of its aircraft, the statement said.

Hours earlier, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said the “bullying” restoration of oil and banking curbs was backfiring by making Washington more isolated, a reference to other world powers opposed to the initiative.

  8. First wave of Central American migrants arrives in Mexico City

    https://www.oann.com/first-wave-of-central-american-migrants-arrive-in-mexico-city/

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – The first Central American migrants from a caravan traveling through Mexico toward the United States in hopes of seeking asylum arrived in Mexico City on Sunday, taking up temporary shelter at a sports stadium.

More than 1,000 Central Americans, many fleeing gang violence and financial hardship in their home countries, bedded down at the stadium where the city government set up medical aid and food kitchens.

Ahead of U.S. congressional elections this Tuesday, President Donald Trump has warned repeatedly about the advance of the caravan and ordered thousands of troops to the Mexican border, where units strung up razor wire this weekend.

The migrants arrived in the capital, nearly 500 miles (805 kilometers) from the closest border crossings in Texas, four weeks after setting out from the Honduran city of San Pedro Sula.

“Our heads are set at getting to the United States, to fulfill the American dream,” said Mauricio Mancilla, who traveled with his six-year old son from San Pedro Sula. “We have faith in God that we will do this, whatever the circumstances.”

    • Mexico: Migrant convoy continues through Veracruz

The last remaining Central American migrants in the Isla Municipality in Veracruz were filmed leaving on Sunday, as the migrant convoy continues its progress northwards towards the United States.

According to reports, some parts of the convoy have already reached Puebla and Mexico City, though the bulk is still passing through the state of Veracruz. It is expected that they will cross into the next state by Monday.

The Veracruz route, which leads to Texas, avoids a high-altitude climb via Mexico City.

Many migrants have been travelling for more than two weeks, since a group first formed in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. They must still travel around 1,600 kilometres (1,000 miles) to reach the US border.

    • the guardian – Obama attacks Trump’s response to migrant caravan

Former US President Barack Obama has labelled President Trump’s response to the migrant caravan a ‘political stunt.’ ‘They’re telling us the single most grave threat to America is a bunch of poor, impoverished, broke, hungry refugees a thousand miles away,’ Obama said during a rally for Democratic senator Joe Donnelly in Indiana.

Trump has fixed on the caravan and immigration as a whole taking a hardened stance in a bid to rouse his political base ahead of congressional elections on Tuesday.

The Pentagon this week said it was deploying more than 5,200 troops to the border at Trump’s direction to confront the men, women and children traveling through Mexico as they flee violence and poverty in Central America.

Trump has characterised it as an ‘invasion’ of migrants

    Press Releases
Mastercard and George Soros to Explore Private Sector Solutions to Societal Challenges

Social enterprise to explore sustainable, scalable commercial solutions for the humanitarian and development community

DAVOS – January 19, 2017 – Mastercard and George Soros announced plans to explore creating a social enterprise to apply commercial strategies to deliver a positive impact on society. Called Humanity Ventures, the enterprise could catalyze and accelerate economic and social development for vulnerable communities around the world, especially refugees and migrants.

Mastercard CEO Ajay Banga and George Soros met at the World Economic Forum announcing plans to explore creating a social enterprise to apply commercial strategies to deliver a positive impact on society.

Pervasive joblessness, lack of access to healthcare, inadequate education, and financial exclusion afflict people in both developed and emerging economies. Despite billions of dollars of humanitarian and development assistance every year, millions of people remain marginalized. Mastercard and George Soros believe that private sector capabilities coupled with strategic, long-term investments can spur development and transform life for the underserved.

Last September, George Soros announced that he is earmarking up to $500 million for private investments that will improve capacity to address the challenges that migrants, including refugees, and their host communities face around the world. Humanity Ventures would be part of that initiative.

Mastercard delivers innovative payments, data, and identity solutions which empower the underserved all over the world. These tools improve the lives of refugees and migrants by forging better economic and social ties with local populations.

Operating as a standalone entity, Humanity Ventures would initially combine solutions designed to expand access to healthcare and education, foster local economic development and entrepreneurship, and enhance the delivery of aid. One such solution is the Mastercard Aid Network, an award winning digital voucher platform designed in partnership with humanitarian organizations.

With the creation of Humanity Ventures, Soros could invest up to $50 million to make these solutions even more scalable and sustainable. The social enterprise could also serve as an incubator and accelerator for smaller projects committed to mitigating the migration crisis.

Designed to combine the need for business returns with social impact, Humanity Ventures would also act as a new model for how civil society, governments, and the private sector improve quality of life and drive economic growth.

“Over several years, we’ve applied our thinking and technology to help hundreds of millions connect to the formal economy and to help empower safer and more efficient aid distribution,” said Ajay Banga, president and CEO of Mastercard. “We can have transformational impact by scaling our business-driven organization to leverage innovation, on-the-ground experience and long-term capital investments.”

“Migrants are often forced into lives of despair in their host communities because they cannot gain access to financial, healthcare and government services. Our potential investment in this social enterprise, coupled with Mastercard’s ability to create products that serve vulnerable communities, can show how private capital can play a constructive role in solving social problems,” said George Soros. “Humanity Ventures is intended to be profitable so as to stimulate involvement from other businesspeople. We also hope to establish standards of practice to ensure that investments are not exploitative of the vulnerable communities we intend to serve.”

      MasterCard Transforms Aid Distribution

PURCHASE, NY – September 24, 2015 – Humanitarian organizations are increasingly asked to provide aid in a climate of political and economic unrest.

To address this challenge, MasterCard today launched the MasterCard Aid Network, an end-to-end, non-financial service designed to streamline aid distribution even in the absence of telecommunications infrastructure. Now, impacted populations can secure basic needs swiftly with the simple dip of a card.

“With MasterCard Aid Network, we are transforming the way NGOs and other aid agencies can deliver support to people in need,” said Walt Macnee, vice chairman of MasterCard. “We spent the past two years working with humanitarian organizations to develop a solution that works for everyone involved – populations in need, aid organizations, local merchants and donors.”

The network has been tested and proven in real-life situations — with Save the Children in Yemen, where approximately 41 percent of the population are unable to meet their basic food needs as a result from civil unrest and war, and in the Philippines with World Vision to help microentrepreneurs rebuild businesses after Typhoon Haiyan. In both countries, MasterCard Aid Network delivered greater efficiency and transparency beyond the cumbersome traditional paper voucher model.

“MasterCard Aid Network unequivocally holds great potential for helping children and families around the world,” said Carolyn Miles, president and CEO of Save the Children. “And, since the system is a non-financial system that does not need connectivity to process transactions, it was easy to deploy, helping to reduce risk to our staff.”

The chip-enabled card can be pre-loaded with a parcel of eligible physical goods – from food to medicine to shelter – and distributed to populations in need. Participating merchants are equipped with a visual, user-friendly terminal. Beneficiaries only need to dip their card, select the desired items, such as weekly groceries, by tapping the corresponding photos on a screen, and enter a PIN to safely confirm their transaction and receive their goods.

“Our staff, vendors and aid beneficiaries were able to quickly adopt and use the system,” said George Fenton, Director of Humanitarian Operations Services of World Vision. “It also gave our field staff the ability to quickly add or restrict items depending on the type of intervention, saving us time and cost.”

According to a recent report by the High Level Panel on Humanitarian Cash Transfers, the humanitarian system is under severe stress. With nearly 60 million people around the world displaced by conflict in 2014, and 218 million people a year affected by natural disasters, organizations need new tools to meet the rising demand for aid.

With the MasterCard Aid Network, these organizations now have a technology solution that enables them to:

Rapidly Deploy the Service – Simplified training, a web-based aid program set-up and no need to integrate with local financial service providers enables faster aid delivery.
Operate in remote, inaccessible locations – Merchants do not require connectivity to be able to conduct a transaction, so the humanitarian interventions can be deployed anywhere.

Reduce Costs and Risks – Cards are distributed once and reused for each transaction, eliminating the need for staff travel for voucher distributions and collections.

Beneficiaries go directly to the merchants to collect their aid.

Expedite Payment to Merchants – Transactions are digitally captured, eliminating the counting of paper vouchers and record keeping and enabling aid organizations to speed up payments to their vendors.

Increase Transparency – Unlike paper voucher systems, NGO staff can see the actual items a beneficiary purchase with their vouchers and quickly review merchant reports, eliminating concerns of voucher fraud.

Empower Beneficiaries with Technology – The chip cards offer a first step towards financial inclusion by providing experience with a payment tool.

This continues the company’s support of the development community, including the recently announced partnership with the Food Agricultural Organization (FAO) to create an innovative new alliance against hunger.

  12. Canada Opens Borders to Hundreds of Thousands of Skilled Immigrants

The Canadian government released on October 31 the new multi-year immigration levels plan for 2019 to 2021 which envisages a steady increase.

The new plan continues to grow the number of permanent residents Canada welcomes annually to 330,800 in 2019, 341,000 in 2020 and 350,000 — nearing one per cent of Canada’s population — in 2021.

In 2017, Canada welcomed 286,000 permanent residents in 2017, more than half under Economic Class programs, and 44,000 refugees.

Explaining the increase Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship (IRCC) Ahmed Hussen highlighted the importance of immigration to Canada’s economy.

“The new multi-year immigration levels plan supports Canadian employers and businesses by ensuring they have the skilled labour they need to spur innovation and help to keep our country at the forefront of the global economy,” he said.

“Building on the strong foundation set out last year and continuing to increase economic immigration will help Canada stay competitive and attract talent from around the world.”

According to Hussen the plan remains focused on attracting the best and brightest from around the world with the majority of the increase in 2021 allotted to high-skilled economic immigration.

  13. Latest Attempt at Silencing WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange Foiled

The Deep State’s latest attempt at eliminating a thorn in WikiLeaks publisher Julian Assange was exposed and foiled anew.

There have been many attempts on the life of one Julian Assange prior to his asylum inside the Ecuadorian Embassy in London. The striking difference of all is that this time around, they’re not doing it clandestinely, but in plain view of the Londoners.

Break-in Attempted at Embassy; Fears Raised of Abduction

An attempted break-in at Julian Assange’s residence inside the Ecuadorian Embassy in London on Oct. 29, and the absence of a security detail, have increased fears about the safety of the WikiLeak’s publisher.

Lawyers for Assange have confirmed to activist and journalist Suzie Dawson that Assange was awoken in the early morning hours by the break-in attempt. They confirmed to Dawson that the attempt was to enter a front window of the embassy. A booby-trap Assange had set up woke him, the lawyers said.

Scaffolding has appeared against the embassy building in the Knightsbridge section in London which “obscures the embassy’s security cameras,” the lawyers said.

On the scaffolding electronic devices, presumably to conduct surveillance, can be seen, just feet from the embassy windows.

Later on the day of the break-in, Sean O’Brien, a lecturer at Yale University Law School and a cyber-security expert, was able to enter the embassy through the front door, which was left open. Inside he found no security present. Someone from the embassy emerged to tell him to send an email to set up an appointment with Assange. After emailing the embassy, personnel inside refused to check whether it had been received or not.

O’Brien then noticed more scaffolding being erected and observed the devices, which he photographed. Though a cyber-security expert, O’Brien said he could not identify what the devices are.

“I’ve never seen devices quite like this, and I take photos of surveillance equipment often,” O’Brien said. “There were curious plastic tubes with yellow-orange caps, zip-tied to the front. I have no idea what these are but they seem to have equipment inside them.”

The devices are pointed towards the embassy, where all the blinds were open, and not the street, he said. “The surveillance devices in the photos reveals no manufacturer branding, serial numbers or visible device information,” Dawson said. “The combination of the obscuring of the street-facing surveillance cameras and the installation of surveillance equipment pointed into instead of away from the Embassy, is alarming.”

The Ecuadorean government had to have given permission for the devices to be installed as they are flush up against the embassy walls on government sovereign territory, Dawson said.

O’Brien said that previous visitors had described to him “closed and locked doors. Security guards manning the desk at all times. Privacy drapes, dark rooms with shuttered blinds. For such a reversal of position to have occurred, there is only one conclusion: the Ecuadorian Embassy is open for business. Wide open.”

In May the Ecuadorian government of President Lenin Moreno shut off Assange’s electronic communications and denied him all visitors except his mother and his lawyers. Last month the government offered Assange a deal: his access to the world could be restored if he agreed not to comment on politics. Assange reportedly refused.

On Thursday the government suddenly barred all access to Assange visitors, including his legal team until next Monday, raising fears that no witnesses could be present should there be an attempt to abduct Assange over the weekend.

The break-in attempt occurred on the morning that Assange was due to testify via video-link to a court in Quito regarding Assange’s conditions of asylum. Technical problems interrupted Assange’s testimony. The court ruled against his lawyer’s petition for protections for Assange.

The new Ecuadorian government indicated in the Spring that Assange would eventually have to leave the embassy. Assange fears that if he leaves the British government will arrest him on a minor charge of skipping bail when he legally sought asylum inside the embassy in June of 2012.

Assange and his lawyers fear that if he is detained by British authorities he would be extradited to the United States where they believe there is a sealed indictment against him possibly on espionage charges for simply publishing classified documents that he has not been accused of stealing.

Hundreds of supporters of the far-right Forza Nuova rallied in the streets of Rome on Sunday. Celebrating National Unity and Armed Forces Day, the far-right party supporters carried banners and smoke flares as they demanded the immediate repatriation of undocumented immigrants.

Several Forze Nuova supporters were seen giving the Roman or Nazi salute at the rally.

  16. On 3 November police were called to the small industrial town of Molnlycke, southeast of Goteborg, where they found “several injured people” following a shooting outside an entertainment venue which had been hosting a party.

It is unclear what events led up to the shooting, however it is being investigated as attempted murder as seven were injured.

Swedish police have arrested 12 in the shooting which is allegedly linked to biker gang members near Goteborg. Several of the wounded have links to the Hells Angels biker gang.

Swedish authorities have said there is a rise in organised crime activity for the past few years. Gang shootings have taken place in Stockholm, Goteborg and Malmo.

“The incident appears to have been sparked by a conflict, which either arose during the course of the evening or existed previously, between two different groups – one with links to motorcycle gangs and the other with local connections,” Sweden’s prosecution authority said in a statement.

  17. Louis Farrakhan Refers to the U.S. as “Great Satan” during a Tehran University Speech

Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan visited Iran as the Islamic Republic celebrated the anniversary of the seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Iran in 1979

During a speech At Tehran University, Farrakhan said that the U.S. is “gloating” over new economic sanctions.

He said that nothing happens without the will of Allah, and added: “Is it not true that you have called America the Great Satan?

If you believe that, then wouldn’t Satan be actively involved in trying to destroy a nation that is set up on… submission to the will of God?”

He also called on Iranians to persevere and to “carry forward the Revolution.”

Part of Farrakhan’s speech aired on IRINN TV on November 4, 2018.

This topic has been covered here before. But it is worth noting that these deranged academics still have not modified their voice.
Some of the comments are actually amusing: “After spending ten minutes talking about African contributions to Western civilization, what else will you have to say?”
It is disturbing to me that these so-called academics fight so hard, to the point of ridiculousness, to defy the unmitigated success of Judeo-Christian culture? Why do they do this?
Can we really chalk it up to self loathing? I can’t help to think now that people, like academics, are betting on the strong horse and when the tide finally turns to Islamic culture and 3rd world barbarity they will be able to count themselves as supporters.
It seems crazy to me; western culture has brought some of the greatest achievements in all man kind. Yet you wish to halt the study of that…

  20. Rep. Maxine Waters is known for losing her temper, and apparently that extends to people who work for her.

In a video clip tweeted on Sunday night by a woman named Suzanne Armstrong, a volunteer for Waters reportedly threatened to get a constituents license plate number after the constituent had a disagreement with Waters.

Rather than allow two people to disagree, it appears that Waters’ volunteer immediately jumped into threatening to get the constituents personal information.

“You want to say that again,” Armstrong can be heard asking a man, who she alleges is a volunteer for Waters’ campaign.

“You’re going to get my license number when I leave?” she asks. “What does that mean?”

“You’re a Trump-type and you’re going to get my license number?” she continued to ask, with the man looking all over the place and not answering her questions while she films the exchange.

Mosques want populist politician Wilders banned from Twitter
    https://nltimes.nl/2018/11/05/mosques-want-populist-politician-wilders-banned-twitter

The Turkish-Islamic cultural federation TICF, a foundation that speaks for 144 Turkish mosques in the Netherlands, demands that Twitter block the account of PVV leader Geert Wilders. According to the TICF, many of Wilders’ statements are contrary to Twitter’s terms of use. If Twitter does not block the populist politician’s account, the foundation will go to court, lawyer Ejder Kose said to newspaper AD.

The TICF also plans to file charges against Twitter in four Islamic countries – Turkey, Morocco, Pakistan and Indonesia. In those countries, many of Wilders’ statements are punishable, Kose said. “Twitter offers Wilders a platform to spread his hatred propaganda worldwide. This means that not only Wilders, but also Twitter, is punishable in those countries. The world is bigger than the Netherlands”, the lawyer said to the newspaper.

Kose referred to a tweet posted by Wilders in September last year. In that tweet Wilders said: “The truth: Mohammed is the example for more than 1 billion Muslims. Mohammed was a pedophile, mass murderer, terrorist and madman.”
In March Diyanet, the Turkish directorate for religious affairs that TICF is affiliated with, filed charges against Wilders for a video he posted online, also on Twitter. The video states that Islam equals discrimination, violence and terror, among other things. It finishes with the text ‘Islam is death’, with blood dripping from the letters. The Public Prosecutor eventually decided not to prosecute Wilders for the video.

“My client, the TICF, found that incomprehensible. We therefore started looking for other ways to stop Wilders. If it does not work through criminal law, we’ll try civil law”, Kose said to AD. “Wilders has lost it, hurts Muslims structurally and legitimizes violence. He regularly crosses the line of what should be allowed.”

The PVV leader responded to the TICF’s intentions on Twitter. “Madness”, he wrote.

  23. Identity Politics is America’s Anti-Semitism
The worst hasn’t happened, it’s coming.
    November 5, 2018
    Daniel Greenfield

When Robert Bowers walked through the door of the Tree of Life synagogue with murder on his mind, he was propelled by identity politics. As a white supremacist, his brand of identity politics is more politically incorrect than the ones that led Tamika Mallory and Linda Sarsour of the Women’s March to support Louis Farrakhan, but it’s no more violent, racist or evil.

Before the massacre, the most recent high profile anti-Semitic attack had been carried out by a Muslim who was caught on video beating a Jewish man while shouting about, “Allah” and his hatred for Jews.

Another hate crime, also caught on video, was a violent assault with a baseball bat by a black man.

Such assaults are less devastating than the mass murder of eleven people, but also much more commonplace. They repeat from month to month and year to year. They make up much of the toll of anti-Semitic hate crimes so that they top the list of hate crime statistics every single year.

The Tree of Life massacre has been greeted with editorials mourning a “loss of innocence” by American Jews. Such editorials come from a bubble of privilege that is cut off from the way many Jews live.

In 1991, New York City’s first black mayor stood and watched while a violent mob whipped up, by among others, Al Sharpton, went on a violent anti-Semitic rampage in Crown Heights. The Crown Heights Pogrom, as it would become known, took three lives and terrorized a neighborhood.

  25. An Open Letter to Some Oblivious Jewish Leaders
Are you pushing back – or enabling – the demonization of Jews?
    November 5, 2018
    Dr. Shmuel Katz

For too long, some self-appointed and some elected Jewish leaders have thought that they know – better than anybody else – the correct way of addressing crucial issues related to Jewish identity, Jewish tradition, Jewish national aspirations and Jewish interaction with the secular world.

This group of leaders includes a whole range of individuals from the most progressive to the ultra-orthodox.
Among them you will see those who avoid mentioning the traditional importance of the rebuilding of the city of Jerusalem when officiating at marriages, and you will see those who do not respect the flag of the state of Israel as a symbol of the recent reestablishment of the free and democratic Jewish state in the Jewish ancestral homeland.

During recent years many Jews have been living in very comfortable neighborhoods among oblivious friends and fans, ignoring a relentless increase in the waves of anti-Semitism and anti self-determination for Jews. They considered the radical right, represented by white Supremacists and the neo-Nazis, and the radical Islamists, represented by Hamas, Hezbollah and the Palestinian Authority, as insignificant marginal groups, or as groups who will tolerate Jews as long as they do not support the Jewish state of Israel.

These Jews were not aware of the fact that the age-old irrational anti-Jewish indoctrination is being forcefully imposed on the oblivious free world, by entities like Iran, Turkey, the Palestinian Authority and their willing accomplices in the media, academia and in various student bodies – for a long time.

  26. Iran Faces Harsh US Sanctions
Will the Europeans dare to defy Trump?
    November 5, 2018
    Joseph Klein

“SANCTIONS ARE COMING,” President Trump tweeted in advance of the remaining set of U.S. sanctions against Iran that are coming back into force on November 5th. Lifted under the disastrous Obama nuclear deal with Iran that the Trump administration exited last May, these re-imposed sanctions will target Iran’s energy, shipping, and shipbuilding sectors, and transactions with the Central Bank of Iran as well as with other Iranian banks. The aim is to dry up revenues the Iranian regime uses to fund not only its nuclear program, but also its continued development and launching of ballistic missiles that transgress the same United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231 that had endorsed the nuclear deal itself, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). The Iranian regime has also used revenues gained from the JCPOA’s lifting of the sanctions to finance terrorists world-wide rather than to relieve the financial hardships of its own people. That is all about to change. “Our objective is to force the regime into a clear choice: either abandon its destructive behavior or continue down the path toward economic disaster,” President Trump said in a statement issued last Friday.

The sanctions that are being re-imposed are tough. With few exceptions, any government or business entities importing Iranian oil or otherwise violating the sanctions, including via barter arrangements, will be subject to stringent U.S. financial penalties. However, the sanctions will exempt for humanitarian reasons the sale of food, medicine, medical devices, and agricultural commodities to Iran. Moreover, the Trump administration has decided to grant temporary waivers to eight countries, including South Korea, Japan, and India. The purpose is to avoid an immediate spike in oil prices that would occur if oil exports from Iran were virtually eliminated overnight, and to soften the blow to allies in Asia whose economies could be seriously imperiled by an immediate shut-off of their oil purchases from Iran upon which they have been dependent. The full list of countries excludes the European Union as a whole, which has 28 members. Two of the eight countries receiving the temporary waivers will completely cut off imports of Iranian oil in a matter of weeks, according to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. The other six, he said, will “greatly” reduce their imports. All countries receiving the temporary waivers must reapply for extended exemptions beyond six months.

  27. New York Times Observes Sharia Blasphemy Laws
    “Repeating blasphemy is also blasphemy.”
    November 5, 2018
    Robert Spencer

Mohammed Hanif, the author of this disgraceful op-ed published Friday in the New York Times, is a Pakistani novelist, and so it is perhaps understandable that he may wish to observe Islamic blasphemy laws, but why is the New York Times, which is supposedly a journalistic outlet in a nation that upholds the freedom of speech, validating his doing so?

In it, Hanif writes this about Asia Bibi, the Pakistani Christian woman charged with blasphemy and held in prison for years, and whose recent acquittal touched off nationwide riots in Pakistan: “There are many versions of what led to the charges against her, but all revolve around a verbal altercation with Muslim neighbors in Punjab, an eastern province, about drinking water from the same vessel. Some Muslims won’t share utensils with non-Muslims, a belief that has more to do with (Hindu) casteism than (Islamic) scripture.”

Nonsense. It comes from this Islamic scripture: “O you who have believed, indeed the polytheists are unclean…” (9:28)

  28. Woman Scams Trump Supporters Out Of $150k In ‘Blacks For Trump’ Con, Brags Online

A black woman used social media to announce her departure from the Democrat Party, claiming to be part of “blacks for Trump” and the “walk away” movement. At the height of so-called “Blexit,” a movement which encourages black Americans to reject the idea that they must be Democrats, the Twitter post making such a declaration from the woman went viral.

    But the announcement was phony.

The woman, whose Twitter bio identifies her as a “reformed Republican,” claimed to be disowned from her mother, kicked out of her house, and financially destitute over her Trump support. After posting screenshots of apparently staged text messages to showcase her hardship, she linked followers to a GoFundMe account; sympathetic Trump supporters pledged a reported $150,000 to the woman. She was later discovered to be a Trump-hater looking to rip off right-wingers in some sort of quest for “social justice” and the GoFundMe was taken down.

The Nov. 5-10 China International Import Expo, or CIIE, brings thousands of foreign companies together with Chinese buyers in a bid to demonstrate the importing potential of the world’s second-biggest economy.

In a speech that largely echoed previous promises, Xi said China would accelerate opening of the education, telecommunications and cultural sectors, while protecting foreign companies’ interests and punishing violations of intellectual property rights.

He also said he expects China to import $30 trillion worth of goods and $10 trillion worth of services in the next 15 years. Last year, Xi estimated that China would import $24 trillion worth of goods over the coming 15 years.

  30. Caravan Baby Suffers Chickenpox, Malnutrition, Father Refuses Aid to Stay Course To U.S.

A Mexican radio station reports that a Honduran father refused medical help and a Humanitarian Visa to treat his child’s chickenpox and severe malnutrition so he could continue traveling to the United States with the Honduran migrant caravan.

Radio Formula reports a shocking case of parental neglect within the Honduran migrant caravan heading for the United States, as the parents of a six month old baby, sick with chicken pox and suffering from malnutrition, refused an unprecedented offer from the Mexican government to provide a Humanitarian Visa and six months of treatment for the deathly ill child.

On Twitter, Radio Formula journalist Ciro Gómez Leyva posted a video showing the parents’ apathy toward the fate of their child, adding the message “This baby with chicken pox that travels in #CaravanaMigrante is on the verge of death and his parents do not seem to care.” Leyva added that Mexico’s Institute for Migration “offered them a humanitarian VISA and medical attention, but they rejected all the help.”

  31. Pragmatism Drives the Sino-Israeli Partnership

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The relationship between China and Israel is based largely on harmonious economic cooperation, although security implications cannot be ignored as the Belt and Road Initiative is implemented. It can be argued that China is interested in playing a risky game in the region that goes beyond economics. Still, the two countries can look for new, original fields in which to collaborate. Jerusalem’s experience of remembering the Holocaust and combating deniers might be useful with respect to Beijing’s remembrance of the Nanjing Massacre.

Chinese VP Wang Qishan, who came to Israel at the end of October, was the highest-ranking Chinese official to visit Israel since 2000. The visit was indicative of the Chinese government’s interest in bolstering Beijing’s relationship with Jerusalem.

Innovation is key to the relationship. President Xi Jinping’s vision is to develop his country into a world leader in science and technology as it strives for prosperity and rejuvenation. Foreign experience and know-how are therefore needed. Wang Qishan and Benjamin Netanyahu co-chaired the fourth joint committee on innovation, which was established four years ago to facilitate communication among ministries, government agencies, universities, and research centers.

During a November 4 appearance on CNN’s State of the Union Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams (D) admitted that a possible outcome of her gun control plans could be that “people would turn their guns in.”

She said other options might include “buybacks” and/or “grandfathering in” certain firearms, so current owners could keep them but be barred from selling them or transferring them to other individuals.

Abrams began by telling host Jake Tapper that “AR-15s are not necessary on our streets.” She then called for more gun control “semiautomatic weapons” in general. “The former head of German intelligence, tasked with monitoring domestic extremist groups, came under fire after he expressed doubts about the authenticity of videos showing members of right-wing groups in Chemnitz hunting down immigrants.

The former president of the German Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV), Hans-Georg Maassen, who was recently forced to leave his post, criticized the government’s foreign and domestic security policies as “leftist, naïve and idealistic,” Sueddeutsche Zeitung reported on November 5. He also considered the possibility of entering into German politics after his resignation as head of the BfV.

Maassen’s statements were scrutinized by the German Interior ministry, where the ex-spy chief was planning to work after being appointed by Interior Minister Horst Seehofer. As a result of the scrutiny, Seehofer decided not to offer Maassen a post in his ministry due to “inappropriate” statements made by the former spy head. The interior minister said in a statement that Maassen had “disappointed” him, but still noted his “undisputed achievements” and thanked Maassen for his service.

The former head of the BfV was forced to leave his post after a scandal erupted around his claims that video footage of members of right-wing groups allegedly chasing down migrants in Chemnitz might have been faked. Considering the fact that the BfV is tasked with monitoring extremist groups, many politicians feared he might be working with them and urged his immediate resignation.

Following numerous demands, the CSU leader and interior minister, Horst Seehofer, offered Maassen a post as an advisor in his ministry in exchange for leaving his post as a president of the BfV. Although the decision was not deemed satisfactory by the opposition parties and some of the ruling coalition members, the decision remained.

The German city of Chemnitz was rocked by weeks of protests against mass immigration in August and September 2018, which were triggered by the death of a local carpenter, who was stabbed in a conflict with two migrants from Syria and Iraq. Several German outlets and social media users reported that groups of right-wing activists were allegedly chasing down and harassing migrants across the city during the protests.”

    By MacIverNews – November 1, 2018

MADISON, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin Madison is making a big GOTV push this year. In addition to hosting three early voting sites and putting extra resources into providing students with the documentation they need to register and vote – all students.

The two key documents are proof of residence and a photo ID. The university is making it as easy as possible to get these documents.

All students can print off a “Voter Eligibility Verification Letter” simply by going to their online university account. The process is automatic and instant.

For the state’s voter ID requirement, student ID cards don’t count, because they don’t have an expiration date. And so, any student can go to the union, present their student ID, and get a special student voter ID card.

  40. Trump Rips Dems After Kavanaugh Accuser Admits To Making False Rape Claim

President Trump blasted one of Brett Kavanaugh’s “Jane Doe” accusers at a Montana campaign rally on Saturday, saying “she made up the lie” as he derided the accusation as “fake.”

Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA), chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, had requested an investigation of the accuser, Judy Munro-Leighton, who anonymously claimed that Kavanaugh forced her to perform oral sex on him. Committee investigators found that the woman had “fabricated” her accusation, according to a letter from Grassley to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
