    • “The CumEx-Files is a tax fraud scheme discovered in 2018 by a collaboration between a number of European news media outlets.[1] A network of banks, stock traders and top lawyers has obtained billions from the European treasuries through suspected fraud and speculation with dividend tax. The five hardest hit countries may have lost at least $62.9 billion.[2] Germany is the hardest hit country, with around $36.2 billion withdrawn from the German treasury.[3] Estimated losses for other countries include at least €17 billion for France, €4.5 billion in Italy, €1.7 billion in Denmark and €201 million for Belgium.[4]”

“The participants in the network would lend each other shares in large companies, so that to tax authorities there would appear to be two owners of the shares, when in reality there was only one. The bank that was used in stock trading would then issue a “confirmation” to the investor that tax on the dividend payment had been paid – without it actually being done. “It’s a bit like parents claiming a child benefit for two – or more – children when there is only one child in the family.” writes Correctiv.[1]

The name “cum-ex” is derived from Latin, meaning “with without”, and refers to the disappearing nature of the fraudulent dividend payments.[5][6]”

If this creature is a man then so is my cat(and probably my cat is more intelligent). Just another step in the LGBTGA “acronym” sequence and a true index of the decadence of the west ( I await the “N” as even a corpse needs some loving(that comment started at least one “marital” fight amongst couples at a party years ago….I had it explained to me on the way home) and wonder where the hidden”P” lies as there seems no lessening in its incidence)

Nice to know that that the wondrous sense of entitlement and the aura of arrogance that accompanies it is not just present in the spoilt little bastards of the west (all to often literally) but lavished on the unappreciative hordes of pseudo-children now invading the west. Of course, if he had actually worked for these “desirable “items??? Maybe they can train him to be a butcher so that he can perfect his ISIS skills after all the German are teaching adult illegals how to drive potential missiles (see “buses”). 4. Caravan of migrants swells to 7,000 and stretches more than a mile long as they continue marching towards the U.S. border – but Trump warns full efforts are being made to stop the ‘onslaught of illegal aliens’

The throng of Central American migrants advancing toward the U.S. border in southern Mexico has now swelled to a whopping 7,000 people as they defy the efforts of four governments to break them up.

Thousands of mostly Honduran migrants rose at dawn on Sunday from the shores of a river between Guatemala and Mexico and continued their trek northward, overwhelming Mexican government attempts to stop them at the border.

Their numbers swelled from 2,000 to about 5,000 overnight and at first light they set out walking toward the Mexican town of Tapachula, 10 abreast in a line stretching approximately a mile. That number has now reportedly risen to 7,000.

Several hundred more already had applied for refugee status in Mexico and an estimated 1,500 were still on the Guatemalan side of the Suchiate River, hoping to enter legally.

It came as President Donald Trump fired off a tweet on Sunday afternoon, saying: ‘Full efforts are being made to stop the onslaught of illegal aliens from crossing our Southern Border.

‘People have to apply for asylum in Mexico first, and if they fail to do that, the U.S. will turn them away. The courts are asking the U.S. to do things that are not doable!’

  5. Honduran migrants prepare to march on after Trump vows to halt them

Tapachula (Mexico) (AFP) – Thousands of Honduran migrants whose trek toward the United States has triggered tirades from US President Donald Trump prepared to continue their march Monday after a second night in Mexico.

Mexican authorities had managed to block the “caravan” of migrants on a border bridge between Mexico and Guatemala, but many later crossed the river below in makeshift rafts before marching north.

After walking seven hours from the Guatemalan border, around 3,000 migrants arrived in Tapachula, Chiapas state, Sunday.

On Monday, the caravan’s next stop on the journey of at least 3,000 kilometers (1,800 miles) was Huixtla, a town around 40 kilometers away.

“We are well aware that this country (Mexico) didn’t receive us as we expected, and they can return us to Honduras, and we also know there are drug traffickers who kidnap and kill migrants,” Juan Flores, one of those migrants, told AFP.

HONG KONG – It’s been another busy month for China’s anti-corruption authorities.

There was the head of Interpol, who was unceremoniously seized during a trip to Beijing. There was the state bank executive who was caught hiding tons – literally – of ill-gotten cash in his moldy basement.

Arrests, disappearances, investigations, posthumous humiliations: The stream of eye-catching headlines coming out of Beijing in October is a reminder that President Xi Jinping’s hallmark anti-corruption drive is showing few signs of letting up in its sixth year.

Chasing suspected fraudsters, influence peddlers and others remains popular with the public. But Xi’s campaign also shows other tumult within the upper ranks of China’s leadership, business world and security apparatus.

“The outspoken Islamist extremist was released from prison on Friday, and it has emerged he expressed mild support for Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn in an interview back in 2016.

Controversial hate preacher Anjem Choudary praised Corbyn prior to being imprisoned in 2016, hailing the Labour leader as the “voice of the oppressed” in the UK, it has emerged.

Moreover, Choudary said he ideologically disagrees with Corbyn but appreciates his honesty and suggested he could win the next general election by a “landslide” if he alters a few of his policies.

“If he were to shed some of his more socialist ideas, like not bowing for the Queen, I think he could have a landslide. I disagree with him vehemently ideologically but at least he is honest.”

  10. Two Koreas, U.N. forces agree to remove weapons at border

SEOUL (Reuters) – North and South Korea and the U.N. Command agreed on Monday to withdraw firearms and guard posts in the demilitarized zone village of Panmunjom this week, Seoul’s defense ministry said, the latest move in a fast-improving relationship.

The three sides held their second round of talks at Panmunjom to discuss ways to demilitarize the border in line with a recent inter-Korean pact reached at last month’s summit in Pyongyang.

The U.S.-led UNC, which has overseen affairs in the DMZ since the end of hostilities in the 1950-53 Korean War, was not immediately available for comment, but it said on Friday it supports the two Koreas’ efforts to implement their military deal.

The announcement comes amid U.S. concerns that the inter-Korean military initiative could undermine defense readiness and comes without substantial progress on North Korea’s promised denuclearization.

The neighbors are looking to withdraw 11 guard posts within a 1-km (0.6-mile) radius of the Military Demarcation Line on their border by the end of the year.

They also plan to pull out all firearms from a Joint Security Area (JSA) at Panmunjom and cut to 35 each the numbers of personnel stationed there and share information on surveillance equipment.

  11. Germany Wants Other EU States to Halt Their Arms Exports to Saudi Arabia (spuniknews, Oct 22, 2018)
    https://sputniknews.com/world/201810221069094507-germany-eu-members-arms-exports-riyadh/

“Berlin’s call comes after US President Donald Trump and the UK’s Brexit Minister Dominic Raab cast doubt on Riyadh’s previous explanation that Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi died as a result of a fistfight in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

In an interview with the German public TV network ZDF, German Economic Affairs Minister Peter Altmaier specifically urged EU member states to follow in Berlin’s footsteps and stop arms exports to Riyadh due to questions raised following the death of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

“For me it would be important that we come to a joint European stance. Because only if all European countries are in agreement, it will make an impression on the government in Riyadh. It will not have any positive consequences if we halt arms exports but other countries at the same time fill the gap,” Altmaier underscored.

He explained that the goal is to increase pressure on Saudi authorities, saying that Berlin is not satisfied with Riyadh’s current explanations regarding the Khashoggi case.

“The [German] government is in agreement that we will not approve further arms exports [to Saudi Arabia] for the moment because we want to know what happened,” Altmaier added, referring to Khashoggi’s death.

His statement came after German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Sunday that Berlin would stop arms exports to Riyadh amid the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Khashoggi’s death.

She was echoed by German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, who stressed that Berlin should not approve further arms sales to Saudi Arabia until the end of the investigation into the Khashoggi case.

Earlier, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir extended his condolences to Khashoggi’s family, saying that his death was a “terrible mistake” and that the kingdom’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had not been aware of the incident.

Describing Riyadh’s investigation, the arrest of 18 Saudi nationals thought to be connected to the Khashoggi case and the dismissal of two senior Saudi officials as “the first step of a long journey,” al-Jubeir pledged that Riyadh was “determined to find out all the facts” pertaining to the matter…”

    • This is Turkey talking with Merkel’s mouth, they (and Iran) want this incident to damage Saudi so they can win the proxy war.

    • 4 calls made from consulate to Saudi prince’s office the day Khashoggi was killed: report
A member of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s entourage made four calls to the royal’s office from the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul the day Jamal Khashoggi was killed there, a pro-government Turkish newspaper reported Monday.

The report comes just a day before Prince Mohammed’s high-profile investment summit is to begin in Riyadh and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has promises that details of Khashoggi’s killing “will be revealed in all its nakedness.”

That yet again adds to the pressure Saudi Arabia faces over the slaying of the Washington Post columnist. The kingdom’s claim on Saturday that Khashoggi died in a “fistfight” met international skepticism and allegations of a cover-up to absolve the 33-year-old crown prince of direct responsibility.

Turkish media reports and officials maintain that a 15-member Saudi team flew to Istanbul on Oct. 2, knowing Khashoggi would arrive for a document he needed to get married. Once he was inside the diplomatic mission, the Saudis accosted Khashoggi, cut off his fingers, killed and dismembered the 59-year-old writer.

The report by Yeni Safak on Monday said Maher Abdulaziz Mutreb, a member of Prince Mohammed’s entourage on trips to the United States, France and Spain this year, made the calls from the consulate. The newspaper said the four calls went to Bader al-Asaker, the head of Prince Mohammed’s office. It said another call went to the United States.

Yeni Safak cited no source for the information. However, pro-government newspapers have been leaking information about Khashoggi’s killing, apparently with the help of Turkish security forces. Yeni Safak reported last week that Saudi officials cut off Khashoggi’s fingers and then decapitated him at the consulate as his fiancée waited outside.

Officials in Saudi Arabia have not answered repeated requests for comment from The Associated Press in recent days, including on Monday. Saudi Arabia so far has not acknowledged or explained Mutreb’s presence in Istanbul — nor that a forensics and autopsy expert was also on hand for Khashoggi’s arrival at the consulate.

Last week, a leaked photograph apparently taken from surveillance footage showed Mutreb at the consulate, just ahead of Khashoggi’s arrival. Mutreb’s name also matches that of a first secretary who once served as a diplomat at the Saudi Embassy in London, according to a 2007 list compiled by the British Foreign Office.

Meanwhile, Saudi state media reported that both Prince Mohammed and King Salman made calls to Khashoggi’s son, Salah, early on Monday morning. Statements from the agency said both the king and the crown prince expressed their condolences for Khashoggi’s death.

A Saudi friend of Khashoggi who was in frequent touch with him before his death told the AP that Salah Khashoggi had been under a travel ban and barred from leaving the kingdom since last year as a result of his father’s criticism of the government. The friend spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of repercussion. The Saudi statements did not acknowledge the ban.

Istanbul’s chief prosecutor summons 28 more staff members from Saudi Consulate to give testimony

A man appearing to wear Jamal Khashoggi’s clothes left the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul after the journalist was killed there, according to surveillance video, while a member of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s entourage reportedly made four calls to the prince’s office around the same time.

The reports by CNN and a pro-government Turkish newspaper came just a day before Prince Mohammed’s high-profile investment summit is to begin in Riyadh, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has promised that details of Khashoggi’s killing “will be revealed in all its nakedness.”

CNN aired surveillance footage on Monday showing the man in Khashoggi’s dress shirt, suit jacket and pants. It cited a Turkish official as describing the man as a “body double” and a member of the Saudi team sent to Istanbul to target the writer. The man is seen in the footage walking out of the consulate via its back exit with an accomplice, then taking a taxi to Istanbul’s famed Sultan Ahmed Mosque, where he went into a public bathroom, changed back out of the clothes and left.

  12. Trump says U.S. to exit landmark nuclear arms pact, Russia threatens retaliation

ELKO, Nev/MOSCOW (Reuters) – President Donald Trump said Washington would withdraw from a landmark Cold War-era treaty that eliminated nuclear missiles from Europe because Russia was violating the pact, triggering a warning of retaliatory measures from Moscow.

The Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, negotiated by then-President Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev in 1987, required elimination of short-range and intermediate-range nuclear and conventional missiles by both countries.

“Russia has not, unfortunately, honored the agreement so we’re going to terminate the agreement and we’re going to pull out,” Trump told reporters on Saturday after a rally in Nevada.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Sunday that a unilateral withdrawal by the United States would be “very dangerous” and lead to a “military-technical” retaliation.

Gorbachev, now a frail 87-year-old, said it would be a mistake for Washington to quit the treaty, and it would undermine work he and U.S. counterparts did to end the Cold War Arms race.

“Do they really not understand in Washington what this could lead to?” Interfax news agency quoted Gorbachev as saying.

  13. Chaotic Brazil presidential campaign careens into final week

SAO PAULO (Reuters) – A presidential campaign that has deeply split Brazilians and is likely to end with the election of far-right candidate Jair Bolsonaro careened into the final week of campaigning on Monday.

Pollsters say Bolsonaro has an 18 percentage point lead over his leftist rival Fernando Haddad of the Workers Party (PT). With 95 percent of Bolsonaro’s backers saying in surveys that they will not consider changing their votes, it would take a stunning twist for Haddad to pull out a win in Sunday’s run-off ballot.

Tens of thousands of Bolsonaro’s backers gathered in several cities across Brazil on Sunday, and the vibe was more of victory parties than pre-vote rallies.

“This is a clear sign that citizens are truly concerned about the future of Brazil and want somebody different from the PT in the presidency,” Bolsonaro said late Sunday in a television interview.

Anti-Bolsonaro protesters gathered in fewer cities on Saturday for events that were mostly organized by a Facebook group of women voters who oppose him.

For his part, Haddad appealed to the PT’s base of poorer Brazilians, promising to expand social programs and to put a cap on the spiking costs of cooking gas cylinders, primarily used in low-income homes.

  14. Crisis in Britain’s prisons laid bare: Shocking footage of brutal beatings, Spice ‘zombies’ and organised fight clubs shows scale of problems facing UK’s jails (dailymail, Oct 22, 2018)
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6300325/Brutal-beatings-Spice-zombies-organised-fight-clubs-shows-scale-problems-facing-UKs-jails.html

“Shocking footage has revealed prisoners taking drugs, displaying mobile phones and violently hitting each other in UK prisons.

Footage from several jails across the country has highlighted the crisis faced by the current prison system.

A video taken from within Liverpool jail shows one prisoner laid zombie-like on the floor and shaking as another stumbles around the room smoking from a pipe thought to contain the drug Spice, reports the Sunday Mirror.

The man with a tattoo on his left arm tries to grab hold of a wall for support as he moves around but another man humiliates him and pulls down his shorts.

One giggling inmate in the room says: ‘This is what you get, the consequences of smoking Spice.’

As the man starts to come round a bucket of water is thrown over him while in the other corner of the room the man in black shorts and socks is completely unaware of what is happening.

This alarming clip has been sent to The Ministry of Justice along with other shocking footage from within Buckley Hall jail in Lancashire, Pentonville in North London and Featherstone jail in Staffordshire.

Mark Fairhurst, national chair of the Prison Officers’ Association, said: ‘The POA are dismayed but by no means shocked.

He added that the POA have asked for security to be upped so that ‘everybody entering’ a prison would be ‘searched in the same way as at an airport.’

In the clips from Buckley Hall jail brazen inmates show off their stash of mobile phones, drugs said to be cocaine, vials of steroids, bag of Spice and syringes.

A man can be heard describing the haul and saying: ‘HMP Buckley Hall, belting, what a jail.’

A video said to be filmed in 2017 from inside Pentonville shows a prisoner being repeatedly hit over the head as others watch.

Labour’s Shadow Justice Secretary Richard Burgon said: ‘The shocking footage shows the chaos in our prisons. They are in crisis, fuelled by the Tories’ reckless cuts agenda.’

The Ministry of Justice confirmed the Liverpool video was under ‘urgent investigation.’

A spokesperson told the Mirror: ‘This is absolutely unacceptable. Anyone found behaving in this way can expect to spend significantly longer behind bars.

‘To stop drugs from entering prisons we are investing £40million in safety and security, £14million each year targeting organised crime and a further £2million to detect and block mobile phones.'”

  15. Smiling Anjem Choudary goes for a Sunday stroll outside his bail hostel – with electronic ankle tag on show – as newly-unearthed tapes capture him saying he’ll never stop supporting ISIS (dailymail, Oct 22, 2018)
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6299753/Freed-hate-preacher-Anjem-Choudary-said-never-stop-supporting-ISIS-recording-2014.html

“Freed hate preacher Anjem Choudary revealed he would continue supporting jihadism and said it was ‘the duty of every Muslim to give their allegiance’ to IS, as detailed in a recording that has now surfaced.

The 51-year-old Islamist, who was released on Friday after serving two years for inciting others to support IS in videos posted to YouTube, made the revelations in 2014.

Speaking to a Sun on Sunday investigator before his conviction, Choudary, who was given five-and-a-half years in prison, but served less than half of his sentence, said:

‘As Muslims we have no choice but to support the Islamic State.

‘It is not a question of whether we chose to support IS or not — it is a matter of Islamic responsibility and duty for every Muslim to give their allegiance to the caliph and obey him if he orders them to do something.’

The audio also revealed that Choudary – who is expected to launch a ‘human rights’ legal battle against the 25 conditions of his release – would disregard British law and only follow instead his caliph, IS leader Ab? Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Choudary was spotted smiling this morning, his electronic tag visible around his right ankle, as he stepped out of a bail hostel in north London.

He is set to receive free unsold food from the likes of Pret a Manger and Tesco at the hostel – which backs on to a £15,000-a-year private school – as police monitor him in a security operation set to cost £2million annually.

It is thought Choudary has been set the strictest conditions ever imposed on a released prisoner in the UK.

The notorious Islamist cleric was swept out of Belmarsh Prison in south-east London in a blacked-out people carrier followed by a convoy of unmarked cars carrying police and MI5.

Choudary, branded Britain’s most dangerous extremist, still has his long beard and wore blue Adidas trainers and a long white robe.

As part of his release, Choudary must submit to 25 licence conditions drawn up by the security services, police, probation service and the Ministry of Justice.

These include being forced to live in an approved hostel, electronic tagging, a night-time curfew, only being allowed to attend pre-approved mosques, no use of the internet without prior permission, not being allowed to speak to the media and a ban from preaching.

Yesterday it was reported that Choudary is expected to apply for legal aid before launching a court battle against the conditions of his release, because they ‘breach his human rights’.

Choudary and a legal team from Birnberg Peirce are set to argue that the conditions breach his human rights, because the licensing conditions are disproportionate to the crime for which he was convicted.

His co-defendant and close friend Mizanur Rahman, 34, is also preparing for his release from the same sentence…”

    https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1034850/italy-france-immigration-matteo-salvini-emmanuel-macron-border-control

“ITALIAN deputy prime minister Matteo Salvini attacked “Macron and his friends” as he warned Italy will no longer tolerate being treated like the “refugee camp of Europe”.

Anti-immigration leader Mr Salvini aimed a dig at Emmanuel Macron and his officials after Italy was accused by the French interior minister Christophe Castaner, of refusing to discuss alternative immigration policies.

The warning did not go down well with the Italian populist leader, who told France to refrain from lecturing his country.

Saying that Italy’s patience was running thin, Mr Salvini, leader of the anti-immigration party Lega, wrote on Twitter: “The French interior minister accuses me of ‘systematic refusal to every type of opening’.

“Are these the lessons from Macron and his friends who ‘unload’ migrants in Italian forests at night? No thanks.”

Mr Salvini’s angry message comes after French police officers were caught “dumping” illegal immigrants in Italy.

Members of the French border patrol were caught on camera earlier this month driving across the border and releasing three immigrants without notifying local authorities, an act the French government said last week was an “error”.

Pictures and video of the astonishing event were released on social media by Mr Salvini himself, leading to the escalation of tensions between Rome and Paris.

The interior minister has since increased police presence at the border with France, focusing patrols’ attention on Claviere, the Italian alpine town where the migrants were released.

In a separate message, Mr Salvini said: “Italy is no longer fearful, resigned to being the refugee camp of Europe and to taking orders from Brussels and Berlin.”

He then invited Mr Castaner to meet him in Rome to talk through their border issues.

He said: “I’m waiting for the French minister in Rome, but in the meantime we will continue to patrol the borders.

“We are a country that has lifted its head up again: those who have not yet understood that should realise it.”

Mr Castaner said on Sunday he had no interest in intensifying the debate and looked forward to discussing the migrant issue with his European counterparts, including Mr Salvini.

He said: “I think the solution is found in co-operation, never in opposition…”

  17. Swedish Region Sees Increase in Children Seeking to Change Gender (breitbart, Oct 22, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/10/22/swedish-region-increase-children-seeking-change-gender/

“The Swedish northern region has seen a rapid increase in children seeking help for gender dysphoria in recent years, according to medical professional Camilla Ernstsson.
Ms Ernstsson, who works as a nurse at a specialised centre in Umeå that deals with gender dysphoria among children, said that in 2013 the centre saw around one child per year, but the number has now increased to 16 to 17 patients a year, broadcaster SVT reports.

“There are many people who feel insecure and that’s why they are able to come to us after being assessed by a child and adolescent psychiatrist,” Ernstsson said.

“Most are biological girls, but there are boys too. What we do is to slow down puberty with injections. In some cases, we start a hormone treatment.”

“It is very important how we deal with young people and that we are not prejudiced,” she added.

The University Hospital of Umeå, where the centre is located, claims that many patients wait until they are adults before going ahead with any plans to change gender but the ones who come as children are usually between 15 and 18 years old.

Sweden is often seen as one of the most progressive countries when it comes to transgender and LGBT issues with the neutral pronoun “hen” being commonly used in Swedish preschools where children are taught to use the hen pronoun as part of the government curriculum.

Transgender issues have even appeared in books for toddlers such as the book Hästen & Husse which features a man who likes to dress as a woman along with a horse which believes himself to be a dog.

Earlier this year in Uppsala, the government decided to push for creating the world’s first “LGBT-certified” sports stadium where staff will be trained in LGBT issues and will even receive an “LGBT diploma”.”

  18. Anti-India strike shuts Kashmir amid anger over deaths (abcnews, Oct 22, 2018)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/anti-india-strike-shuts-kashmir-amid-anger-deaths-58657281

“Armed soldiers and police fanned out across much of Indian-controlled Kashmir on Monday as separatists challenging Indian rule called for a general strike to mourn the deaths of civilians and armed rebels during confrontation with government forces.

The death toll of civilians in an explosion after a gunbattle between government forces and militants the previous day climbed to seven as another injured young man died at a hospital on early Monday.

Government forces Monday patrolled streets in Kashmir’s main city of Srinagar and enforced a security lockdown in the downtown neighborhoods in anticipation of anti-India protests. Businesses, schools and shops remained shut and public transport stayed off the roads.

Eight combatants, including five militants and three Indian soldiers, were killed in a pair of gunbattles on Sunday, officials said, triggering massive anti-India protests and clashes during one of the fighting in which nearly three dozen people were injured. The seven civilians were killed in an explosion at the site in southern Kulgam after the fighting ended, police and residents said.

Protesting villagers in Kulgam made several attempts to reach the site where the rebels were trapped, barraging troops with stones and abuse. They were trying to distract the soldiers who apart from guns and grenades also used explosives to blast the house where the rebels were cornered, residents and police said.

Authorities offered condolences to the families of slain and reiterated that gunbattle sites should not be visited by civilians until they’re cleaned from any leftover explosives.

Some residents blamed Indian troops for excessive use of explosives in populated areas and deliberately leaving explosives at the site…”

  21. Running anti-Muslim campaigns ‘a losing strategy,’ US report finds
Dozens of candidates have cast their opponents as national security threats with ties to terrorism.

WASHINGTON — Dozens of candidates, almost exclusively Republicans, have run campaigns this election cycle casting their opponents as national security threats with ties to terrorism. But according to a new study, it won’t help them win.

“It is a losing strategy,” the 51-page report says. “Most of them are on track to lose, if they haven’t already.”

The “Running on Hate” 2018 pre-election report, issued by Muslim Advocates, a civil rights group based in Oakland, California, named 80 candidates for federal, state and local office who have expressed anti-Muslim sentiments, based on advertisements and past rhetoric. All but two are Republicans. A dozen of these candidates are safely projected to win in November.

“While many factors contribute to election outcomes, the vast majority of anti-Muslim campaigns have ended in failure — even with clearly credible candidates and in places where President Trump is popular,” the report states.

It analyzed media reports, election results and projections to identify anti-Muslim candidates and the likelihood of their being elected or reelected. It also included a survey conducted by Probolsky Research, a Republican polling firm that found 58 percent of respondents have either no impression of Muslims or a neutral view.

At least 40 candidates for Congress have run anti-Muslim campaigns, the report found. Twenty-three of them made it to the general election, though 13 are incumbents.

Only one non-incumbent is safely projected to win next month: Tennessee’s Mark Green, who was nominated to serve as President Donald Trump’s Army secretary but dropped out of consideration over past comments about Muslims and transgender people. Green, who said in 2016 that the state wouldn’t tolerate “teaching the pillars of Islam” and “how to pray as a Muslim,” is running for the seat held by Representative Marsha Blackburn, the Republican nominee for Senate.

  22. Kavanaugh Effect: Three women dislike man’s ‘community garden,’ so they tell police he’s a pedophile
By Ben Bowles October 22, 2018

Earlier this moth, LU ran a story about a male teen who was falsely accused of sexual assault by five females peers. The boy, identified only as T.J., went through hell before the girls finally admitted grudgingly that they had made the whole thing up, and for no better reason than that they disliked T.J. We called this the “Kavanaugh Effect.”

Now it has happened again. This time around, the allegation, made by three Detroit women, was that the accused was a pedophile and had threatened them with a gun. This time the accused is black and the accusers of white — factors that have prompted more of the media to run the story, including The Root and BET.

As the Detroit Metro Times tells it, Marc Peeples, the accused, was converting a vacant lot to a community garden. In a previous life, the plot of land had been a playground.

The women, all of whom live nearby with one living across the street, disapproved of the project, so they called police, alleging “illegal gardening.” When those charges failed to stick, the upped the ante in repeated calls to police, finally accusing Peeples of being a pedophile, of having threatened one of the women with a gun, and having taken part in a drive-by shooting.

Controlled detonation: Leak story on Treasury official buries the real headline
    By J.E. Dyer October 22, 2018

Last week, the U.S. Department of Justice filed charges against a U.S. Treasury official, Natalie Sours Edwards, for making unauthorized disclosures of numerous “suspicious activity reports” (SARs) on banking transactions to a BuzzFeed reporter between October 2017 and October 2018. Ms. Edwards worked in the Treasury Department’s Financial Crime Enforcement Network (FinCEN).

The reporter’s name – Jason Leopold – was on all of the articles cited as evidence in the DOJ complaint. Major media outlets have universally concluded that Leopold is “Reporter-1” in the complaint, a deduction that looks solid.

In fact, it is a bit interesting to see that the complaint affords us that visibility on who was involved. By contrast, clues to the identity of a collaborator inside FinCEN (“CC-1”) – the associate director, or division head, to whom Edwards reported – have been pretty much wiped from the Internet. Online records, including Edwards’s LinkedIn page, are silent about the specific department or field she’s been working in there.

Her background may be informative, but it is by no means a decisive indicator. Edwards has been something of a generalist, with a history of teaching and working in different federal agencies, but not apparently specializing on a career basis in finance, law enforcement, or intelligence. If the Twitterverse is correct, her record of federal employment indicates she was a GS-15 at the time of indictment.

  24. AP changes headline describing illegal caravan as ‘army of migrants’ after liberals complain

The Associated Press on Sunday changed a headline after a backlash from liberals furious at the news agency for describing a caravan of illegal immigrants heading towards the United States as an “army of migrants.”

“A ragged, growing army of migrants resumes march toward US,” read the original headline on the AP story. The AP later changed the headline to replace the word “army” with “caravan.”

Though the AP has used the word “army” to refer to large groups of people besides migrants — including nurses and political activists — many on the political left criticized the wire service for its original headline.

    • The libs are really scared about things if the words “Small Army” cause them to melt down, what abuot the illegal aliens are they trying to hide?

FYI: The numbers are those of a large Brigade not a small Army.

      • It has now grown to 10,000, if it keeps growing at that rate it will be a small army by the time it reaches the US Border. They are showing their non violence and how much they love the law by beating and injuring Mexican Police that try and stop them.

They have shown they are willing to use violence, now our side has to show that they will use greater violence to protect our nation.

        • I know this is complicated, but I thought generally speaking, 10,000 is in fact an army, and 5,000 is a division.

How is this not an army invading the US for plunder?

After Zelaya refused to comply with court orders to cease, the Honduran Supreme Court issued a secret warrant for his arrest dated 26 June. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/news/article.cfm?c_id=2&objectid=12146589

“A US general was wounded in an attack last week in Afghanistan’s Kandahar province that killed two senior Afghan provincial officials.

The attack targeted a group that included the senior US commander in the country, four people with knowledge of the assault said.

Army Brigadier-General Jeffrey Smiley is recovering after suffering at least one gunshot wound inside the Kandahar governor’s compound, three of the people said.

They spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue. US military officials in Afghanistan and at the Pentagon have declined to comment on the attack or identify the wounded, describing them only as an American service member, an American civilian and a contractor who is part of the military coalition.

“We’re not going to talk about the wounded,” said Army Colonel David Butler, the top military spokesman in Afghanistan.

The attack caught the US military by surprise. General officers are rarely in situations where they face attack, and even more rarely wounded.

Among those present during the attack was Army General Austin “Scott” Miller, the top US officer in Afghanistan. Butler has said that the US officials present were caught in the crossfire after a gunman started shooting. The Taliban claimed the attack and said Miller was among the main targets.

Smiley has served in the Army for just over 30 years and became a general in May 2017, according to an official biography.

He deployed in Afghanistan this northern summer, taking command of a unit with headquarters in Kandahar known as Train, Advise, Assist and Command-South. The headquarters largely comprises members of the 40th Infantry Division, a unit of the California Army National Guard. Smiley has commanded guard units in California for years.

The Afghan officials killed include Kandahar’s top police general, Abdul Raziq, a powerful but controversial security official who had survived numerous assassination attempts. He had risen to power while clearing the Taliban from Kandahar but was accused of extrajudicial killings, torture and other human rights abuses. He denied the allegations.”

They embarked on a daring attempt to take a nude picture of Marisa in the Hagia Sophia, a former Byzantine cathedral and Ottoman mosque which is now used as a museum in Istanbul, Turkey.

Marisa said: “Unlike Egypt, we did not have a solid plan this time. No preparation at all, but endless imagination and a pretty strong foundation.”

“Hard-line Republicans and conservative commentators are mounting a dark whisper campaign against Jamal Khashoggi,” the Washington Post nervously warned.

It was the third week of Khashoggimania. And some difficult questions were being asked.

The Washington Post had provided Jamal Khashoggi, a Hamas supporter and an old friend of Osama bin Laden, with column space in which to promote the agenda of the Muslim Brotherhood. It had seized on the pretext of his disappearance and death to fracture the coalition against Iran and advocate regime change in Saudi Arabia. These had also been Khashoggi’s two fundamental Islamist goals.

Advocating Muslim Brotherhood regime change under the guise of human rights had worked in Egypt, Libya, and other countries in the Arab Spring. But it faltered in Syria when people started asking difficult
