  1. CBC – Don’t isolate Saudi Arabia, expelled Canadian ambassador says

The former Canadian ambassador who was expelled from Saudi Arabia over a diplomatic rift between the two countries says Canada should avoid isolating the kingdom over the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

    • “…disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.”

A man brutally tortured and killed.

    • Turkey: Police to search Saudi consul’s Istanbul home over missing Khashoggi

Turkish police are scheduled to search the Saudi consul’s residence in Istanbul on Tuesday, as part of the investigation into the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

    • Turkey: Police leave Saudi consulate in Istanbul after nine-hour search op.

A Turkish investigative team spent about nine hours searching the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul for DNA traces of the missing Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, leaving early Tuesday.

Specialists from anti-terror branch and crime scene investigation units of Istanbul Provincial Security Directorate were part of the investigating team on the case. Footage from outside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul shows forensic experts leaving the scene.

Khashoggi went to the consulate on October 2 to prepare documents for his upcoming marriage but has not been seen since. His fiancee claims to have waited outside for 11 hours but says he did not return. So far, Saudi authorities maintain that Khashoggi left the building on the same afternoon as his visit.

Turkish officials allege that Khashoggi was murdered and dismembered in the building by Saudi agents and claim to have found evidence to support these allegations.

    • zero hedge – Pompeo Took 12-Hour Flight To Saudi Arabia For ’15 Minute Meeting’ With King Salman

[…] two realities had become increasingly clear. One: That the Saudis would avoid responsibility for the killing by pinning it on some unfortunate underling, and two: that there would be few, if any, lasting diplomatic repercussions.

[…]US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s meeting with King Salman of Saudi Arabia lasted no more than 15 minutes, CNN estimates based on the time the top US diplomat’s motorcade arrived at the royal court and departed.

The motorcade arrived at the royal court at 11:42 a.m. (4:42 a.m. ET) and left 26 minutes later. There is a fair distance to walk from where the motorcade dropped Pompeo off to where he met the king.

[…]More important are developments in Turkey, where the joint Saudi-Turkish “investigation” is turning its attention toward the home of the Saudi consul, where a black diplomatic van that departed the Saudi consulate just under two hours after Khashoggi entered was captured on camera disappearing into a garage. Some speculate that this is where the killers finished disposing of Khashoggi’s body. […]

Video provided by WaPo details Turkish fingerprints on this incident whilst narrating a Saudi culpability. Notable American accusers of Saudi culpability include Bernie Sanders, Marco Rubio, John Brennan, Senators Cardin and Flake – all avid anti-Trump leftists. It’s looking more like a coup against a Trump/US ally as much as an effort to bring Trump down -one notch at a time – by any and all means necessary.

    • CNN – Body of missing Saudi journalist was cut into pieces, Turkish official says

The body of missing journalist Jamal Khashoggi was cut into pieces after he was killed two weeks ago at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, a Turkish official told CNN on Tuesday.

The claim, which was first made to the New York Times earlier in the investigation into Khashoggi’s fate, comes after Turkish officials searched the consulate for nine hours on Monday night. The Turkish official would not comment on the disposal method for the body.

Turkish officials have said privately that Khashoggi was killed in the consulate on October 2 after he arrived to obtain papers that would have allowed him to marry his Turkish fiancée, Hatice Cengiz. Saudi Arabia has previously insisted he left the building alive, but Cengiz says she never saw him again.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan earlier Tuesday said Turkish investigators were looking into “toxic” and “painted over material” as part of their inquiry.
“My hope is that we can reach conclusions that will give us a reasonable opinion as soon as possible, because the investigation is looking into many things such as toxic materials and those materials being removed by painting them over,” Erdogan told reporters.

CNN saw a cleaning crew enter the main consulate building on Monday before Turkish officials, including a forensics team, arrived to begin their investigation.
Turkish investigators were expected to carry out a search of the Saudi Consul General’s residence in Istanbul later on Tuesday. CCTV footage, which has served as a focal point in the investigations, showed vehicles moving from the consulate building to the nearby Consul General’s residence on October 2.

The semiofficial Anadolu news agency said Saudi’s Istanbul Consul General, Mohammed Otaibi, left the country on Tuesday.

On Friday, a source familiar with the ongoing investigation told CNN that Turkish authorities have audio and visual evidence that showed Khashoggi was killed inside the Saudi consulate.

The evidence, which was described to the source by a Western intelligence agency, showed there had been an assault and a struggle inside the consulate. There is also evidence of the moment that Khashoggi was killed, the source said.

Saudi Arabia has been under intense international pressure to explain Khashoggi’s apparent death, which has created a diplomatic rift between Saudi Arabia and the West.

US President Donald Trump dispatched US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday as sources told CNN that the Kingdom was preparing to acknowledge that Khashoggi died at the consulate in Istanbul as a result of an interrogation that went wrong.

The sources said the interrogation was intended to lead to his enforced return to Saudi Arabia.

    • Turkey: Material at Saudi consulate painted over since Khashoggi disappearance – Erdogan

Material in the Saudi consulate has been painted over since the disappearance of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told reporters in Ankara on Tuesday.

“My hope is that we can a reach conclusion that will give us a reasonable opinion as soon as possible, because the investigation is looking into many things such as toxic materials and those materials being removed by painting them over, ” he said.

      • The fact that he died so quickly says that either he had a bod heart or that the Saudi’s got the info they were after, possibly both.

        • The fact that he [Khashoggi] died so quickly says that either he had a bad heart or that the Saudis got the info they were after, possibly both.

It would seem that “all of the above” describes the foregoing in detail. However mysteriously, The Magic Kingdom tends to get its way. Quelle surprise!

Ain’t it strange how America sidesteps so much of this sh!t?

    • zero hedge – NYT Identifies Four Suspected Saudi Hit Squad Members As ‘Close Associates’ Of Crown Prince

After two days of non-stop news pertaining to the widening backlash to the disappearance of Saudi insider-turned dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who is widely suspected to have been murdered inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul during a trip to obtain a marriage license, the New York Times waited until 6:30 pm ET to drop one of the biggest bombshells yet.

Citing sources from within the Turkish government (who have taken the lead in directing the international outrage by first leaking information about Khashoggi’s killing, then following that up with claims that they had substantive evidence), the NYT reports that Turkish officials have linked four members of the 15-man Saudi hit squad purportedly sent to ambush Khashoggi to Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, who earlier today denied having any knowledge of the killing during a conversation with President Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

One of the men is a diplomat who has been frequently spotted in the Crown Prince’s company, including being photographed with MbS during his visit to the US earlier this year. Three others have been linked to MbS’s security detail. A fifth was a doctor and autopsy expert, whose presence suggests that Khashoggi’s murder was a premeditated hit – not the actions of “rogue operatives” as the Saudi government and Trump have suggested. The news is bound to produce a fresh round of outrage directed at MbS, whose authoritarian crackdown on political rivals within Saudi Arabia, as well as his escalation of the conflict in Yemen (which Saudi Arabia has blithely supported with arms and financing) and the kidnapping last year of the Prime Minister of Lebanon have undermined his reputation as a reformer (a reputation that, ironically, the NYT first helped to burnish).

Turkish authorities have said that the 15-man team flew into Istanbul on two chartered jets on Oct. 2, the day Khashoggi walked into the embassy only to never be seen or heard from again. Flight records indicate that some or all of the men left later that day, and that their planes stopped in Dubai on the way back to Saudi Arabia. Turkish officials told the Times that all 15 suspects are Saudi security officers, intelligence agents or government employees. At least 9 of them worked for the Saudi security services, military or other government ministries.

The NYT independently corroborated claims about the suspects’ links to MbS.

The New York Times has confirmed independently that at least 9 of the 15 worked for the Saudi security services, military or other government ministries.

The New York Times has gathered more information about the suspects using facial recognition software, publicly available records, social media profiles, a database of Saudi cellphone numbers, Saudi news reports, leaked Saudi government documents and in some cases the accounts of witnesses in Saudi Arabia and countries the crown prince has visited.

One of the men was identified as Maher Abdulaziz Mutreb, a diplomat who is one of the Crown Prince’s closest associates.

One suspect, Maher Abdulaziz Mutreb, was a diplomat assigned to the Saudi embassy in London in 2007, according to a British diplomatic roster. He has also traveled extensively with the crown prince, perhaps as a bodyguard.

Mr. Mutreb has been photographed emerging from airplanes with Crown Prince Mohammed on recent trips to Madrid and Paris. He was also photographed in Houston, Boston and the United Nations during the prince’s visits there, often glowering as he surveyed a crowd.

Another man was identified as Abdulaziz Mohammed al-Hawsawi a French national and member of the Saudi’s security team. A third suspect, Thaar Ghaleb al-Harbi, became a lieutenant in the Saudi royal guard last year after demonstrating “bravery” in the defense of Crown Prince Mohammed’s palace in Jeddah (which has been targeted by missiles fired by Houthi rebels in Yemen).

A fourth, Muhammed Saad Alzahrani, is a member of the royal guard who has reportedly been photographed standing next to MbS.

A fourth suspect traveled with a passport bearing the name of another member of the royal guard, Muhammed Saad Alzahrani. A search of the name in Menom3ay, an app popular in Saudi Arabia that allows users to see the names other users have associated with certain phone numbers, identified him as a member of the royal guard. A guard wearing a name tag with that name appears in a video from 2017 standing next to Crown Prince Mohammed.

But the presence of Dr. Salah al-Tubaigy could prove to be the most problematic aspect of the reports. Because his presence suggests that the team was sent on a mission to kill Khashoggi, who had first visited the consulate two days earlier, and was told to return on Oct. 2 to obtain his paperwork.

Dr. Tubaigy, who maintained a presence on several social media platforms, identified himself on his Twitter account as the head of the Saudi Scientific Council of Forensics and held lofty positions in the kingdom’s premier medical school as well as in its Interior Ministry. He had studied at the University of Glasgow and in 2015 he spent three months in Australia as a visiting forensic pathologist at the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine. His published writings include works on dissection and mobile autopsies.

Although there is no public record of a relationship between him and the royal court, such a senior figure in the Saudi medical establishment was unlikely to join a rogue expedition organized by an underling.

Dr. Tubaigy, whose name first appeared among reports of the suspects several days ago, has not publicly addressed the allegations. None of the suspects could be reached for comment.

Any links to the Saudi royal family will undoubtedly undermine the regime’s official story (which has only been leaked to the media as a trial balloon, not formally offered as an official statement on Khashoggi’s disappearance).

  2. USA: Man accused of sending toxic letters to Trump appears in court

A man accused of posting the deadly toxin ricin to US President Donald Trump, appeared in court for the first time on Monday, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He claimed in court that he had also sent letters containing ricin to Queen Elizabeth II and Russian President Vladmir Putin.

  3. The parade of unextraordinary, but famous, dullard aspirants to the Oval Office from the left should ensure a conservative renaissance in the U.S.. I would be convinced of this position if not for the wild success of the PoMos in dumbing down and indoctrinating so many people. Therefore there can be only one outcome to our polarization: a successful Right must separate from a successful Left. We will not coexist forever in such polarity. This continent will split. (Canada, along with the 49th parallel, will be redrawn and renamed.) One region will be a “socialist paradise” replete with the Keynsian Free Shit Army. The other region will remain free market Austrian. There will be inclaves, exclaves, and areas disputed over natural resources. Ultimately the socialist regions will fail, of course, resulting in the slow reversion of the continent back to sanity, but only after many years, upheavel, and the knowledge that nothing will ever be as it once was.

Socialism and communism cannot die because no incarnation was ever done right (as commies are wont to say).

      • The fat fool still has not “got it”. His new program bottomed in the viewer stats when it opened as no one except leftist trash can stand him. He almost “puts me off” the movie “Red October” so much do I detest him and Between him, Ben Affleck and the new Ryan TV series Clancy must be rolling in his grave. At least Ford keeps his mouth shut.

        • Optimistic IMO. Marxists will use chemical, biological and/or nuclear weapons if there is a civil war as they have already proven that nothing is beyond the pale when it comes to dealing with those they term “Nazis”. Civil wars are always extremely bloody and this will be no exception but this time there will be socialist fanaticism driving forth the “vengeance” (as many of them see it as a socialist crusade) and it may well mimic Russia in the early 1918-20s or China in the early 1950s with a far higher death toll per capita. They are violent and unresponsive to law now. What will they be like when unleashed totally?

            • Agreed.Hope is the flickering candle in the dark of night. I tend to wonder about what will happen when it fails. Reality vs negativity?? I see so little about which to be positive. If Trump is assassinated then god/gods or someone help us all. He holds that candle.(Did I really type that? *blushes*)

          • Yesterday there was a story about Austin and its Red Liberation Army calling for violent rebellion. They have 8k viewers/followers on their site. I wonder if they, or any of their followers, know what happened in Ukraine when Stalin took over? I wonder if Austin has any idea what lies in store for them if they succeed? I wonder if DHS has any idea who they are or if they even know what they’re planning?

          • You are right about the chemical and biological weapons but unless you want to count a small chemical explosive wrapped in radioactive material as a nuclear weapon you are probably wrong about nuclear.

Yes I know about the nukes that went missing when the Soviet Union broke up but after this time without highly skilled maintenance they won’t work. I am more worried about the British and French weapons then home grown n uts using real nukes.

Yes Kim would sell if the left forked over enough money but even Soros will balk about spending that much money for a weapon that is just going to piss off the vast majority of people in North America.

            • I agree that nukes are unlikely in a short term conflict BUT if a civil war did break out there would be a dire need for a leftist hard man to lead their crusade (as opposed to the Soros antifa elitists currently making all of the noise) and with blatantly Marxist fanatics already waving their banners (as senators or potential senators) it would not take much to find a Stalinist willing to do anything to win and if so anything is possible especially if it is a protracted war. 20 years ago this would have been unthinkable, but now??

              • The problem is laying their hands on the nukes, I know some people who were guards on nukes when they were on active. Getting to the nukes would be a major problem and in case of a major civil war the guard forces would be massively reinforced. I don’t doubt a leftist strong man would use nukes if he could get them but I do doubt he would be able to get them. If the left did steal some from one or more US bases would they be able to unlock the warhead?

Remember the Military (active duty and vet) and about 75% or more Repub and the Dems would be reluctant to let nukes be used on the US.

The thing to really worry about and fear is the bio weapons, they are the poor mans nuke, easier anc dheaper to make and in the long run they will kill more. The pad point from the lefts view poiont is that most of the dying would be in the big cities that are the lefts strong p;oints. Bio weapons can be made in any home lab but chemical weapons need a bigger facility to get enough to do a lot of damage and nukes call for a massive dedicated industry.

        • I like the way you are calling it the North American War, I have been trying to find a description about the coming chaos that didn’t imoly a war between the US and Canada. Yes I know crazies in both nations will raid cross border but hopefully freedom loving people in both nations will come together to once again fight alongside our cousins.

    • I would be convinced of this position if not for the wild success of the PoMos in dumbing down and indoctrinating so many people.

It is one of Democracy’s central failings. This system allows a big bunch of dumb people to nominate or elect other dumb people to the nation’s very highest offices.

We must take our quantum of solace from Winston Churchill:

Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.

Eff knows that the entire PoMo agenda is dedicated to further polarizing and dividing America. This neutralization (much less fracturing) of a once semi-functional bipartisan system is one of the greatest crimes of all.

Socialism and communism cannot die because no incarnation was ever done right (as commies are wont to say).

This entire Socialist–Communist shooting match will slide over the event horizon accompanied by the Left’s shrill insistence that, “It just hasn’t been done right, yet!”

It hasn’t been “done right” nor will it EVER be “done right”, as there simply is no way pick up this ideological turd by its clean end—regardless of the Left’s stridently dogged claims to the contrary.

      Great post, Johnnyu!

      • I can see several advantages to placing US Forces in Poland:

        1) This will remove the Majority of our forces from the Western Europe which is the danger area and place them in a semi save area.

        2) This will keep both Russia (who isn’t seriously think about taking Poland right now) out of Poland and will also keep the EU out while it is collapsing.

        3) It will provide a refuge for the US forces left in Western Europe to aim for as they do an emergancy evac out of the war zone.

        4) It will provide a strong point for the US to use when we decide we have to liberate Western Europe.

        5) It will provide a training are for any European resistance groups we decide to train.

There are disadvantages such as ensuring that the US will be involved in the new European War, but we would end up in that war anyway so this one is more or less just a debating point.

  6. Trump tops $100 million in fundraising for his own reelection

President Donald Trump has topped $100 million in fundraising for his 2020 reelection bid – an enormous haul for a president barely two years into his first term, according to new figures reported by his 2020 campaign.

Trump pulled in more than $18 million last quarter through his campaign committee and two joint fundraising committees with the Republican National Committee, for a total of at least $106 million since January 2017, according to his campaign and federal filings.

  8. Northbound migrant group doubles in size, enters Guatemala

AGUA CALIENTE, Guatemala (Reuters) – Up to 3,000 migrants crossed from Honduras into Guatemala on Monday on a trek northward, after a standoff with police in riot gear and warnings from Washington that migrants should not try to enter the United States illegally.

The crowd more than doubled in size from Saturday, when some 1,300 people set off from northern Honduras in what has been dubbed “March of the Migrant,” an organizer said. The migrants plan to seek refugee status in Mexico or pass through to the United States.

Reuters could not independently verify the number of participants, but images showed a group carrying backpacks and clogging roads near the border, some waving the Honduran flag.

The impoverished nations of Central America, from which thousands of migrants have fled in recent years, are under mounting pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration to do more to curb mass migration.

“We are seriously concerned about the caravan of migrants traveling north from Honduras, with false promises of entering the United States by those who seek to exploit their compatriots,” the U.S. Embassy in Honduras said in a statement on Sunday evening.

“Italian anti-immigration leader Matteo Salvini has labeled French President Emmanuel Macron an “international embarrassment” after policemen were spotted dropping off migrants in an Italian forest on the countries’ shared border.

The right-wing Northern League party leader and the country’s Interior minister said the French authorities’ drop off of the migrants in Italian territory “is an unprecedented offence against Italy” and said in an Instagram post on Tuesday that “we don’t accept apologies”.

A French gendarmerie police van last Friday was seen dropping off the two men, believed to be of African origin, in Italy’s Claviere woods. A French official said the incident was a “mistake” at the hands of the officers who were new to patrolling the area.

“Abandoning immigrants in an Italian forest cannot be considered a mistake or an incident,” Salvini said.

He went on to question whether international organizations such as the United Nations and Europe “don’t find it ‘sickening’ to leave people in an isolated area with no assistance.

“We are faced with an international shame and Mr (Emmanuel) Macron cannot pretend nothing has happened,” Salvini went on. “We don’t accept the apology.”

It is the latest spat in an ongoing war of words between France and Italy over the Mediterranean migrant crisis…”

“A man, who was allegedly driving his tractor to a protest at the Israeli Embassy in Ankara, was shot in the leg by police. Before he was apprehended, his rampage destroyed several nearby vehicles.

The 45-year old driver, identified as Ayd?n Sakarya, was apprehended by Turkish police while driving a tractor through central Ankara. Police shot him in the leg after he reportedly refused several commands to stop.

The apprehend man told police that he intended to drive his tractor to the Israeli embassy in order to stage a protest.

However, this report could not be immediately confirmed and an anonymous Israeli official said he believed the incident was not connected to the Israeli mission and the man was instead on his way to a Turkish ministry building.

“To the best of our knowledge this has nothing to do with the embassy. He was on his way to demonstrate outside a (Turkish) government ministry. The incident happened near the ambassador’s residence, and not the embassy,” the official said.

  12. Hate crime linked to religion doubled in three years (telegraph, Oct 16, 2018)
    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/10/16/hate-crime-linked-religion-doubled-three-years/

“Hate crime has surged across the country, new figures have revealed, with those directed at people because of their religious beliefs doubling since 2015.

Data from the Home Office has revealed that there were 94,098 hate crimes recorded by the police in England and Wales in 2017/18 – up by 17 per cent on the year before.

This annual increase rises to 40 per cent for religiously-aggravated hate crime, with crimes increasing from 5,949 to 8,336 in the last year alone. Since 2014/15, offences have soared 153 per cent from a total of 3,293.

The majority of these crimes – some 52 per cent – were directed at Muslims.

The Home Office noted that there were peaks in racially or religiously aggravated offences following terrorist attacks such as the Lee Rigby murder in July 2013 and the Westminster Bridge attack in March 2017.

A sharp increase was also seen in hate crime in June 2017 following terrorist attacks in May and June, leading to a peak of 6,042 offences in June 2017.

This is an average of over 200 a day.

This exceeded the previous peak of 5,605 offences, set in July 2016 – just after the result of the EU referendum campaign.

There were increases in all five of the centrally monitored strands of hate crime in the last year, continuing a five-year trend.

In the last year, race-based hate crime increased 14 per cent, while those based on sexual orientation increased 27 per cent, disability 30 per cent and transgender 32 per cent.

Where the perceived religion of the victim was recorded, 52 per cent of religious hate crime offences were targeted against Muslims – a total of 2,965 offences. 4.8 per cent of the population of England and Wales identified as Muslim, according to the 2011 census.

The Jewish community were the next most commonly targeted group, being targeted in 12 per cent of religious hate crimes.

Some 56 per cent of the hate crimes recorded by the police were for public order offences, while a further third were for violence against the person.

These accounted for the vast majority of hate crimes in 2017/18, although six per cent of offences were classified as either criminal damage or arson.

The police-recorded figures reveal that the number of hate crimes has more than doubled since 2012/13. An offence is classified as such when the victim considers it to be driven by hostility against their race, religion, sexual orientation, disability or transgender identity.

The Office for National Statistics stated that some of the increases in police-recorded hate crime is likely to be related to better reporting methods and a greater willingness on the part of victims to come forward.”

    • There is totalitarian UK “hate crime” and there is hate crime (actual violence). Is there such a split in those statistics? No! I will bet. Such statistics are a load of rubbish and nothing but lies. How many muslims have been physically hurt (excluding feelings) by infidels? Leftist propaganda to let us know that white male evil islamophobia is alive and well and being actively pursued by the koran kissing bill. I just hope to live long enough to see May and her mates hanged for the traitors they are.

      • Actual hate crimes were already crimes and the Hate crimes laws just make the penalty harsher because of what the criminals were thinking. Typical PoMo thought crimes laws.

    • A sharp increase was also seen in hate crime in June 2017 following terrorist attacks in May and June, leading to a peak of 6,042 offences in June 2017.

This is an average of over 200 a day.

Since this report is coming from England, it is impossible to ignore the possibility that a vast majority of these “hate crimes” are being reported by butt-hurt Muslims seeking some sort of constitutional right not to be offended.

What this really happens to be is LAWFARE.

Mind you, if I had that right not to be offended, Islam wouldn’t even exist on American shores. Full Stop.

  13. Trump threatens to cut U.S. aid to Honduras over immigrants

WASHINGTON, Oct 16 (Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday threatened to withdraw funding and aid from Honduras if it does not stop a caravan of people that is heading to the United States.

“The United States has strongly informed the President of Honduras that if the large Caravan of people heading to the U.S. is not stopped and brought back to Honduras, no more money or aid will be given to Honduras, effective immediately!” Trump said on Twitter.

Up to 3,000 migrants crossed from Honduras into Guatemala on Monday on a trek northward, after a standoff with police in riot gear and warnings from Washington that migrants should not try to enter the United States illegally.

  14. Most states facing confirmed or possible cases of polio-like illness

By Elizabeth Cohen and Michael Nedelman, CNN

(CNN)This year, more than half of all US states have had confirmed or possible cases of acute flaccid myelitis, the polio-like illness that can cause paralysis and mostly affects children, according to an exclusive CNN analysis.
CNN reached out to health departments in every state; 48 states responded, plus the District of Columbia. Of those, 30 states said they had cases that were confirmed, suspected or being investigated — including 15 states that said they had confirmed cases in 2018.
In total, CNN found 47 confirmed cases and 49 more that were suspected or being investigated, for a total of 96.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which releases only confirmed numbers, says 16 states had 38 cases as of September 30. It does not identify the states.

Three protesters described as antifa are also wanted after police say they threw bottles and punches during the incident

The New York Police Department announced that it has enough evidence to charge nine members of the right-wing group Proud Boys and three protestors with various counts of rioting, assault, and attempted assault in connection with a brawl that erupted between the two sides a few blocks from a city Republican club following a speech Friday by Proud Boys leader Gavin McInnes.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea said Monday that police recovered multiple videos of the incident and have spoken to witnesses and sources as they piece together what took place in the moments after Proud Boys and associates left the the Metropolitan Republican Club in Manhattan.

  16. Brazilians Are Spewing Hatred at Each Other

So who are you voting for?

In Brazil today, that’s an explosive question. If your answer is the former Army captain Jair Bolsonaro, you are immediately branded a “fascist” by some. If your answer is the Workers’ Party candidate, Fernando Haddad, then you are a “communist.” People hurl all sorts of other ugly, and at times absurd, insults at one another in these exchanges: ignorant, corrupt, wimp, racist, feminazi (a feminist Nazi).

It’s gotten to the point where even the most mundane parts of daily life — waiting for the elevator, taking a cab, bumping into a neighbor — can quickly turn into full-blown screaming matches. The tensions are dividing friends, family and colleagues. Many have taken to proclaiming that they’re voting for neither, whether that’s true or not, just to sidestep the whole mess.

The surge in polarization here feels a bit like it did in the early years of the Hugo Chavez regime in Venezuela or, more recently, like it did during the rise of Donald Trump. This Brazil election, which is almost certain to go to Bolsonaro, shares much in common with the 2016 U.S. election. For starters, both are in large part a reaction to economic woes.

  17. Trump, Feinstein feud intensifies over appeals court nominees

The White House is escalating its feud with Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.).

Fresh off the bitter confirmation fight over Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, which made Feinstein a top target for President Trump and some Republicans, the administration is pushing forward with an effort to fill vacancies in the circuit courts.

The White House announced late last week that Trump intends to nominate individuals for the three California vacancies on the 9th Circuit, moving Republicans closer to their long-held goal of rebalancing the appeals court, which they argue is too liberal and too large.

The 9th Circuit, based in San Francisco, has frustrated Trump by acting as a foil to some of his most controversial policies, including ruling against the travel ban and an effort to cut off federal funding for so-called “sanctuary cities.”

The forthcoming nominations have already sparked a fierce backlash from Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), a potential 2020 contender and a member of the panel. They both argue that the administration didn’t consult with them before announcing the court picks.

    • Fake outrage: D-s cut a deal so they could go home and campaign.

Democrats agree to confirmations of 15 Trump judges
In exchange, Dems facing reelection can go home to campaign.

Senate Democrats accepted an offer from Senate Republicans to confirm 15 lifetime federal judges on Thursday in exchange for the ability to go into recess through the midterms so endangered Democrats can campaign.

The calculation by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and his caucus was simple: That Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) would be able to confirm roughly 15 judges if he kept the Senate in session for the next few weeks anyway. So Democrats OK’d an offer to confirm three Circuit Court judges and 12 Circuit Court judges as the price to pay to go home for election season.

  18. About 200 migrants wade across river into Greece from Turkey (abcnews, Oct 16, 2018)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/200-migrants-wade-river-greece-turkey-58527932

“Authorities say about 200 migrants have crossed into Greece from the northeastern land border with Turkey, an unusually large number of arrivals in that area in a single morning.

Police said the migrants were mostly families with children and were found early Tuesday after making their way to the side of a road near a local highway. They told authorities they had waded across the Evros River running along the border because the water level was low.

There was no immediate information on their nationalities or how many children were among the group. Police sent buses to pick up the new arrivals and transport them to police stations to be registered.

Authorities have reported an increase in the number of people crossing the Greek-Turkish land border in recent months.”

“Militants in Iran abducted 14 members of a border security force near the Pakistan border on Tuesday, Iranian media reported, in the latest blow to the country’s powerful Revolutionary Guard.

The reports quoted an unnamed but informed source as saying two of abducted are members of the powerful Revolutionary Guard’s intelligence department. The rest include seven members of the Basij force, a volunteer wing of the Guard, as well as regular Iranian border guards.

The abduction took place under the cover of darkness, before dawn, near the Loukdan border crossing point in southeastern Sistan and Baluchistan province. The area, which lies on a major opium trafficking route, has seen occasional clashes between Iranian forces and Baluch separatists, as well as drug traffickers.

    • THE BALOCH PEOPLE IN IRAN’S GRIP

The Baloch people speak Balochi, a language of the Medes that is linked with Kurdish and Zaza-Gorani.

The government of Israel has rightfully clarified, repeatedly, the distinction between the Iranian regime and the people living in Iran. Those of us in the Free Balochistan Movement would like to make another distinction that will help the people of Israel understand the depth and breadth of the oppression in Iran.

Iran is not just its people, singular, it is its peoples, plural. Iran is a forced marriage of several nations, each of which suffers the same oppression. Our people, the Baloch nation, is least known. Therefore, we would like to introduce our people to the people of Israel.…

The Twisted-Ragheads better consult a current MAP instead of the Persian Crescent in their own belly buttons.

      • Problem is, Balochis are closer to that Paki-Afghan mess of tribes than the groups they’re approaching as kin from remote antiquity. Fractured by internal feuds, yet consumed by irredentist fantasies. “Balochistan” wouldn’t recognize the territorial integrity of either Pakistan or Afghanistan, for all its pretensions to secular “peoplehood”.

This friendly overture to Strong Horse Israel sounds tinny. They’re alien, unlike Azeris and Kurds. (If the latter had curbed their infighting, they’d have had their own nation long ago. Then they could’ve resumed their battles in a Parliament, with words.)

Balochis are unlikely to unite with other minorities to fight effectively against the mullahs. More sophisticated opposition groups usually manage to pretend to like son-of-shah. Even terrorist-ridden MEK makes amiable noises in mixed company.

  21. Arab and Kurdish Crime Clans ‘Systematically Recruiting’ Refugees in Merkel’s Germany (breitbart, Oct 16, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2018/10/16/arab-kurdish-crime-clans-systematically-recruiting-refugees-merkels-germany/

“Arab and Kurdish crime clans are “systematically recruiting” refugees and building parallel societies in Germany, an investigation has found.

“The clans have systematically been recruiting refugees for the dirtiest jobs, such as selling drugs in parks and the subway,” Thomas Spaniel, an organised crime specialist with Berlin’s police force, told the Washington Post.

Reporter Bojan Pancevski describes how thousands of Arabs and Kurds who arrived as asylum seekers from Lebanon and Turkey in the 1980s and, according to a report by the authorities, “stuck by tribal and Islamic codes of justice, spurning the state and its laws”, resulting in some large families turning into “criminal enterprises” operating according to “their own rules and hierarchies”.

Pancevski reports that Berlin’s organised crime scene is dominated by around a dozen mostly Arab and Kurdish crime clans with comprising roughly a thousand individual criminals — but that the criminal ecosystem has been upset by more recent migration waves, with ugly consequences.

“Now it’s like New York here: Chechens, Kurds, Albanians, Russians, Moroccans, Turks, Gypsies… Everyone wants their share,” one gangster told Pancevski at a funeral for Nidal Rabih, a notorious gang enforcer who was riddled with eight bullets in a public park in front of his wife and children.

More than 2,000 people attended the funeral, with the Washington Post reporter’s interlocutor vowing that those responsible for the killing “will pay”.

The mainstream media outlet admits that migrants are vastly overrepresented in the crime statistics in general, with residents of Arab origin in the Berlin district of Neukölln, for example, accounting for more than 53 percent of serious repeat offenders aged between 13 and 21, despite being only around 10 percent of the area’s general population.

The Post also admits that refugees and asylum seekers across the country appear to be punching above their weight in terms of criminality, accounting for 8.5 percent of criminal suspects in 2017; well above their 2 percent share of the general population.

Their overrepresentation in the figures for suspects in unlawful killing, assault, and robbery statistics is even more striking, at around 14 percent.

The figures appear to lend credence — perhaps unintentionally — to U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent claim that migrants have “violently changed” Germany’s culture.”

  22. Xinjiang top official defends Uighur ‘internment camps’ (BBC, Oct 16, 2018)
    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-45872356

“The top official in China’s Xinjiang region has given the most detailed description yet of the alleged use of internment camps for Uighur Muslims.

In an interview with state media, Shohrat Zakir said the “vocational education” centres were proving effective in staving off terrorism.

He said “trainees” were grateful for the opportunity to change their ways and make their lives more “colourful”.

China’s massive security crackdown in Xinjiang has sparked widespread alarm.

Rights groups say Muslims are being detained indefinitely without charge for infractions like refusing to give a DNA sample, speaking in a minority language or arguing with officials.

Officials have denied allegations that up to a million Muslim Uighurs and other minority groups are being detained, but insist that action is necessary to prevent terrorism.

As chairman of the government in the autonomous western region, Shohrat Zakir is the most senior Xinjiang regional official to comment on the crackdown.

His extensive interview, published in the state-controlled Xinhua news agency, appears to be a further attempt by China to counter rising criticism of its operations in Xinjiang by depicting it as benevolence.

Mr Zakir said the region had been facing the “three evil forces” of terrorism, extremism and separatism since the 1990s, so the government had taken action to tackle the “root causes”.

The “vocational education and training programme” – now written into Chinese law – enables “trainees” to “reflect on their mistakes and see clearly the essence and harm of terrorism and religious extremism”, he said.

In the most detailed description yet of what goes on inside the centres, he said classes were given on Chinese history, language and culture and attendees were given “an awareness of the nation, citizenship and rule of law”.

He did not say whether those attending were forced to do so, but indicated they were staying on site, saying that cafeterias provided “nutritious, free diets”, dormitories were “fully equipped” and there were regular contests and sporting events.

But the China director for Human Rights Watch, Sophie Richardson, said Mr Zakir’s interview failed to address concerns over “mass arbitrary detention, pervasive restrictions on religious freedom, and repression”.

She said the Chinese government would “only gain credibility by releasing all the detainees and closing all camps, not by doubling down on propaganda campaigns”…”

  23. US airstrike in Somalia kills about 60 al-Shabab fighters

JOHANNESBURG (AP) — The U.S. military says it has carried out its deadliest airstrike against the al-Shabab extremist group in Somalia in nearly a year, killing about 60 fighters.

The U.S. Africa Command says Friday’s airstrike occurred near the community of Harardere in Mudug province in the central part of the country.

The statement says according to its assessment no civilians were injured or killed. It was the largest such U.S. strike since one on Nov. 21, 2017, killed about 100 al-Shabab fighters.

The U.S. military has carried out more than two dozen airstrikes, including drone strikes, this year against the al-Qaida-linked al-Shabab, the deadliest Islamic extremist group in sub-Saharan Africa.

Somalia on Sunday marked the first anniversary of al-Shabab’s deadliest attack, a truck bombing in Mogadishu that killed well over 500 people.

“A former Shell CEO, who volunteers in giving education to migrants in the Netherlands, gave some shocking examples of his experiences with them. Although he had a lot of fun as well, he thinks the integration of Muslims is moving in the wrong direction.

For 15 years, the 78-year-old Dominic Boot gave Dutch lessons to migrants in a The Hague suburb called “De Schilderswijk”, he tells the largest Dutch newspaper “De Telegraaf”.

He had to quit there, after he was no longer welcome in the local citizens centre because Muslim women didn’t want a man as their teacher.

Boot, who is motivated to give language courses, now gives private lessons from his home in the Netherlands.

He gives examples of how the neighbourhood Islamised after women with black headscarves arrived and about the young generation as well.

Two young Muslim boys assured him once: “If we dominate here, all of you will be beheaded,” Boot says.

He was actually optimistic about integration and loved to work with migrants. But since he left the citizens house in The Hague, he questions if the integration of Muslims is going well.

“We want to become one country and one culture in which we sing The Wilhelmus [national anthem]together and in which we know who our naval heroes are, instead of condemning them?

The citizens house should carry out the message that they need to become Dutch people”, Boot says.

His hope for the future is how people of other cultures do integrate. “Hindus and Chinese can be successful, so it should be ok with Muslims as well then?”, he says.”

  25. Alec Baldwin calls for ‘overthrow’ of U.S. government, which he says is ‘legal’
By Ben Bowles October 16, 2018

Actor Alec Baldwin, who once had designs on running for the mayoralty of New York, evidently flunked high school civics. Holly Ramer, who writes for the Associated Press, is likewise clueless since she repeats Baldwin’s latest brainstorm without comment or correction.

That master plan was rolled out Sunday night in New Hampshire, where Baldwin was keynote speaker at the state Democratic Party’s annual fall fundraising dinner.

“The way we implement change in America is through elections,” he is quoted as having lectured those in attendance. “We change governments here at home in an orderly and formal way, In that orderly and formal way and lawful way, we need to overthrow the government of the United States under Donald Trump.”

Apparently Baldwin and Ramer have never heard of sedition. The founders knew all about it as a punitive measure in British law. As they were planning American independence in Philadelphia, they understood that if their plot were discovered they would all be hanged for treason.

The penalties for sedition have changed. but the crime and its seriousness have not. From §2385 of the U.S. Code:

  28. VICE NEWS – Indonesia’s Fight Over Polygamous Marriage: Heaven and Hell

Polygamy is largely looked down on in Indonesia, where about 86 percent of Muslims oppose it—but the husbands and wives who practice it believe it’s the ideal form of marriage, and they’re ardent about convincing folks to think the same way.

Riski Ramdani has dedicated himself to making the controversial arrangement more mainstream, and he’s gathered a pretty passionate following. But he’s still facing harsh, widespread criticism that polygamy, at its core, is just a form of abuse.

VICE Indonesia met up with Ramdani, his two wives, and their children in West Java for a look inside their unconventional marriage, and to hear why they support the practice, as well as the struggles they face.

Then we spoke to a scholar who studies polygamy and a woman who left her polygamist marriage to hear how—for many women—the practice can be traumatizing.

  29. Foreign fighters still joining IS in Syria: US general

Foreign fighters continue to flow into Syria to join the Islamic State group despite its forces being largely decimated, Pentagon Joint Chiefs chairman Joe Dunford said Tuesday.

Even though the jihadist group’s territory has shrunk to a fraction of what it once was, new followers arrive, mostly over the Turkish border, at a rate of about 100 a month, Dunford said.

While that is down from a peak of about 1,500 a month three years ago, it shows that Islamic State’s ability to attract followers remains potent, he said.

“It’s the flow of foreign fighters, the ability to move resources, and the ideology that allows these groups to operate,” Dunford said, opening a conference on countering violent extremism.

Dunford also said that the inflow adds to the mounting problem of how to handle hundreds of captured foreign fighters whose home countries will not take them back.

He said the Syrian Democratic Forces are holding more than 700 Islamic State fighters from around 40 countries.

“The progress of returning these fighters home for prosecution has been delayed by political considerations and inconsistent legal frameworks.”

Britain, for example, has refused to repatriate the two remaining men of the IS unit dubbed the “Beatles,” which kidnapped, tortured and beheaded a number of foreigners including journalists.

London stripped them of their citizenship and has said it does not want them back.

The United States has repatriated one of its IS foreign fighters to stand trial, but has not divulged the fate of any others thought to be held in Syria or Iraq.

Dunford said not dealing with the captured foreign fighters correctly will make it harder to eventually extinguish the attraction of the Islamic State ideology.

A critical factor, he said, “is how we identify, prosecute, deradicalize and reintegrate foreign fighters.”

“We need to find a way to address this challenge and prevent the detainees from becoming the leaders of tomorrow’s extremist organizations,” Dunford said.

David Horowitz is a right-of-center Jewish civil rights activist who exposes terrorists, especially those who want to kill Jewish people. Recently, MasterCard and Visa temporarily blocked David Horowitz’s organization, the Freedom Center, from taking online donations, accusing it of being a “hate group.” Meanwhile, top Hamas terrorist Husam Badran has been walking around Doha, Qatar with a Visa debit card, and, quite likely, a MasterCard credit card, in his wallet. Badran is a major money launderer and a mastermind of some of the designated terrorist group’s most heinous murders of innocent Jewish men, women and children. That, apparently, doesn’t stop him from holding Visa and Mastercard plastic.

In April of 2016, Qatar National Bank (QNB), where Mr. Badran has kept an account since August 4, 2015, was hacked, with its entire customer database leaked on the Dark Web. I helped analyze it for Shurat HaDin, the indispensable Israeli law group renowned for representing Israeli terror victims in American courts. Within the database, I found Mr. Badran’s account and personally-identifying information. Shurat HaDin’s sources in Israel confirmed his identity and bank account information. His debit card is a Visa product called Visa Electron, and all the transactions he makes on it, including ATM cash deposits and withdrawals, are routed through one of Visa’s two payment processing centers in the United States. Visa did not respond to a request for comment for this column. Based on the Visa debit card number, it seems to be linked to a MasterCard credit card issued by the Qatari branch of United Bank Limited, a British bank.

    • Another case of the radical left trying to change the meaning of words and force us to accept the change.

We have to resist this if we let them define the meaning of words all is lost.

  32. Cherokee Nation Blasts Elizabeth Warren’s DNA Lies

Senator Elizabeth Warren’s decision to pin her political redemption on an extremely dubious DNA test has predictably infuriated American Indian tribes. Plenty of people wrongly claim Cherokee ancestry. It’s a sensitive issue.

And Warren stepped all over it in the clumsiest Pow Wow Chow way possible.

Senator Elizabeth Warren’s DNA test gimmick is the dumbest action she’s taken on the controversy over her alleged abuse of affirmative action with her fake Cherokee ancestry.

Warren’s previous tactics had consisted of remaining quiet, calling it a family legend or claiming that the whole thing was a misunderstanding. Those tactics weren’t very viable, but they helped to mute the scandal.

Then Elizabeth Warren decided to get serious about running for president in 2020. She conducted outreach to American Indian groups. Her people planted the usual stories in her pet papers, mainly the Boston Globe, claiming that she hadn’t benefited from her fake claim.

And then she pulled the DNA gimmick.

The gimmick is really stupid because Warren has now done, what she had previously denied doing, lay a very public claim to American Indian ancestry. And that will invariably infuriate the Cherokee and other tribal groups and activists.

“People aren’t falling for our cynical smear campaign. What should we do?”

“Let’s call them all names while trying to make even bigger enemies of them!”

The New York Times, which actually dumped its female editor, would now like to run an op-ed piece accusing pro-Kavanaugh women of being “gender traitors”.
