    • The woman with the pathetic tits is in this video too!
Not to put too fine a point on it but, cover em up, you’re embarrassing yourself.

      • That is probably the only way she can get anyone to look at them, one on one people run screaming from the idea of spending time with her.

This guy deserves the Nobel Prize for something, but only if that prize can be designed to self destruct.

A mysterious postmodern artist named Banksy installs a shredder in the picture frame so that it destroys itself at the end of an auction’s bidding. How perfectly deconstructionist! And he fetched over a million bucks. My guess is that since the shredder stopped half way he will explain that this was intentional:

“…the partial destruction of my piece precisely at the close of bidding was intended to provide the ultimate in kinetic interface between artist and viewers. My piece was not destroyed but, rather, completed before your very eyes in my absence. I am brilliant, now pay up…”

In another work the artist calls his patrons “morons” for buying his garbage.

Yet, as Yuri Bezmenov said, the true believers won’t even wake up when the soldier’s boot is kicking them in the ass. This never gets old:

  2. I had a fake dream last night (why not?) where Canada’s PM Justine Trudeau extended a conciliatory hand of friendship to PTrump for Canadian Thanksgiving. He proposed that the two countries synchronize their Thanksgiving holidays rather than celebrating them on different dates. He cited a yearning for the erasure of all borders between all countries, and that this would set a great example for the rest of the planet. He went on to propose that once the holiday dates were synchronized, the two countries should ban the day altogether because it was symbolic of white male European supremecy, and also hurt native North Americans’ feelings. He then waved a heartfelt kiss to PTrump, shed a false tear, and blew his nose into a fake parchment containing a partial text of the UN’s Agenda 21.

PTrump, in reply, simply tweeted out the word “TURKEY”, to which Trudeau replied, “Of course, Mr. President, but only halal slaughtered.”

“Preplanned Murder”: Turkey Says 15-Member Saudi Hit Team Murdered Journalist Inside Consulate

The initial assessment of the Turkish police is that Mr Khashoggi has been killed at the consulate of Saudi Arabia in Istanbul. We believe that the murder was premeditated and the body was subsequently moved out of the consulate,” one of the sources, a Turkish official, said.

A senior Turkish police source told MEE that Khashoggi had been “brutally tortured, killed and cut into pieces. Everything was videotaped to prove the mission had been accomplished and the tape was taken out of the country”.
The police said about 15 Saudis, including officials, came to Istanbul on two private flights on Tuesday and were at the consulate at the same time as the journalist. They left again the same day, police added, AFP reported.

Senior police source tells MEE that police believe Khashoggi’s suspected killing was videotaped ‘to prove the mission had been accomplished’

Turkish authorities suspect that missing Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who disappeared on Tuesday after entering Saudi Arabia’s consulate in Istanbul, was killed inside the consulate, Turkish sources told Middle East Eye and news agencies on Saturday.

A senior Turkish police source told MEE that police believed that Khashoggi, a prominent critic of the Saudi government, was “brutally tortured, killed and cut into pieces” inside the consulate after visiting the building on 2 October.

“Everything was videotaped to prove the mission had been accomplished and the tape was taken out of the country,” the source said.

An unnamed Turkish official told the Reuters news agency that Turkish police believed Khashoggi had been killed and his body then removed from the building.

“The initial assessment of the Turkish police is that Mr Khashoggi has been killed at the consulate of Saudi Arabia in Istanbul. We believe that the murder was premeditated and the body was subsequently moved out of the consulate,” said the official.

    • This whole thing triggers me.

We’re getting the Turk’s media reporting Turk police suspicions, dribbled out to al-Jaz, MB-friendlies, 0-echo-chamber “journalists”, globalist “human rights” types. [Multiple redundancies.] Framing it as Saudi Arab Spring Event.

But no evidence of anything. Turkish blather and media quoting media. When was Interpol brought in to investigate?

If some of it pans out, exactly who are these Saudi hit-men? How do we know they’re regime operatives? There are significant anti-regime factions that keep a very low profile.

It is most certainly plausible. MbS is supremely arrogant: the Ritz Shakedown, Lebanon adventurism, excessive reaction to a Canadian bs-tweet, etc. He’s blundered, made himself powerful enemies with formidable media megaphones.

      => But it’s just too convenient <=
      – Q – How do you hit PTrump, help the Turk/MB and Iran (both hurt by sanctions, expecting worse after Nov. 4), and change the dynamic that’s turning things around in the ME?

      – A – Give the CIA/WaPo an opportunity to take down the centerpiece of the Trump Administration’s Mideast policy: the Crown Prince, as packaged for Western consumption.

The Crown Prince is NOT yet KING. The King could CHANGE the line of succession. Again. He DISAGREES with his presumptive heir on many crucial issues. Like oil prices. And Israel.

The PR theme-packagers will churn out predicable bull. Shadow nonsense for social media consumers who know nothing about the region. It won’t do us any good to complicate what’s already kinky with American comic-book conspiracy theories.

PTrump has to get the truth out, no matter what. State Dept professionals have to frame the issue in the context for the public. We’ve got to be prepared for reality.

      • My first reaction was check that my guns are clean and loaded.

My second reaction was wait for your reaction since you know the area and players a lot better then me. Thanks.

        • It’s also pot-kettle.
          Turk protecting dissident journalists?!

Why would this paragon of virtue, champion of free speech choose to hang out in Turk-ville?

Who also happens to be CIA-MB, a faction that could challenge the Crown Prince, if not the regime itself.

Why is this particular Dem-CT congress-critter demanding “a fundamental break in our relationship with Saudi Arabia”?

A pair of activist comedians followed around Fox & Friends host Brian Kilmeade, lobbing hostile questions at him on Friday. America’s most senior naval officer in Europe, Adm. James Foggo, said Friday that he was “concerned” about some of Russia’s newer and more advanced fleet of submarines.
“Russia is not 10 feet tall but they do have assets that keep me vigilant, concerned. One of them is in the undersea domain,” Foggo, the commander of US Naval Forces Europe, told reporters at the Pentagon.
While Foggo said Russia’s surface fleet, including its aging aircraft carrier, posed little threat — saying Moscow did “not have a robust capital ship capability” — he did express concerns about Russian advancements in its development of submarines and cruise missiles.

By Rusty Weiss October 6, 2018

Referencing an incident in which he was followed to a bathroom by anti-Kavanaugh protesters, Senator David Perdue of Georgia urged his Republican colleagues to “grow up” and start confronting liberal activists.

This, as opposed to spineless GOP members who waffle on their convictions when confronted by screeching paid activists in an elevator.

A group of Kavanaugh haters opposing his eventual confirmation to the Supreme Court recently followed Perdue and his wife through Reagan National Airport, shouting repeatedly even when the congressman hit the men’s room.

“There are millions of women who have come out about their sexual assault and you don’t feel you have to ask any questions?” they shouted.

Others remarked that Perdue has “to exit at some point” and talk to them. ‘Cause, hey, they’re super creepy.

  15. Syrian Kurds May Hand Over ‘Jihadi Jack’ Briton to Canada – Report (sputniknews, Oct 7, 2018)
    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201810071068675940-kurds-jihadi-jack-extradition-canada/

“Ottawa is said to be working to return suspected Daesh militants with Canadian citizenship, and Jack Letts aka “Jihadi Jack” is among them. The news broke as Kurdish officials in northern Syria are seeking to kick out hundreds of foreign terrorists captured in liberated regions of the country.

Jack Letts, a suspected Daesh* fighter with dual British-Canadian citizenship, is likely to be extradited to Ottawa rather than to London, The Guardian reported on Saturday, citing unnamed Canadian and Kurdish sources.

Letts, dubbed “Jihadi Jack” by the British media, is among alleged extremists held in Kurdish custody in northern Syria. Canadian government is said to have agreed to extradite an estimated 11 citizens, including Letts.

Unlike the UK, which maintains that it cannot provide consular assistance to British citizens overseas if there are no local UK consular services available, Canada says that citizens with purported terrorist links detained in Syria and Iraq have the right to return home to face questioning or stand trial.

However, the daily claims, Ottawa has recently backed out of the deal “without giving reasons.” One explanation is that the government fears an influx of suspected Daesh fighters to the country before the 2019 elections, said Canadian terrorism expert Amarnath Amarasingam…”

    • Can’t blame the Kurds they want to get rid of this scum. But what is Canada going to do with them?

        • In a few more years summary execution will become semi routine in the Mid East, until then we are all going to suffer from their following current political norms.

  18. Saudi government critic journalist ‘was tortured, murdered and cut to pieces at his country’s consulate in Istanbul’ (dailymail, Oct 7, 2018)
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6248763/Turkish-police-believe-journalist-killed-Saudi-consulate-source.html

“A regime-critical Saudi journalist who went missing after visiting his country’s consulate in Istanbul was ‘tortured, murdered and cut to pieces’, Turkish police claim.

Jamal Khashoggi, 59, entered the Saudi Arabian consulate in the Turkish capital to obtain official documents for his upcoming wedding, and ‘never came back out again’.

Turkish police believe Khashoggi was murdered inside the building, which Riyadh fiercely denies, instead claiming the journalist disappeared after leaving the consulate on Tuesday afternoon.

Khashoggi, who has been a vocal critic of of Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s policies, was brutally tortured before he was murdered, a police source told Middle East Eye.

‘Everything was videotaped to prove the mission had been accomplished and the tape was taken out of the country,’ the source said.

Police said earlier that around 15 Saudis, including officials, arrived in Istanbul on two flights on Tuesday and were at the consulate at the same time as Khashoggi.

‘Based on their initial findings, the police believe that the journalist was killed by a team especially sent to Istanbul and who left the same day,’ a government source told AFP on Saturday.

Ankara announced on Saturday it had opened an official probe into his disappearance and are closely monitoring the Saudi Consulate and Istanbul’s airports, president Recep Tayyip Erdogan said today.

Mr Erdogan said he is still hopeful that Jamal Khashoggi is alive.

‘God willing we will not be faced with the situation we do not desire,’ he added, calling Mr Khashoggi a ‘journalist and a friend’.

The state-run Saudi Press Agency quoted an unnamed official at the Istanbul consulate as denying the reports of Khashoggi’s murder.

‘The official strongly denounced these baseless allegations,’ the agency wrote. It said a team of Saudi investigators were in Turkey working with local authorities.

Reacting to the news, the journalist’s Turkish fiancee, Hatice Cengiz, said on Twitter she was ‘waiting for an official confirmation from the Turkish government to believe it’.

Khashoggi had gone to the consulate to receive an official document for their marriage, with Ms Cengiz, 36, left waiting outside – but he never came back.

In his newspaper columns for the Washington Post, Khashoggi has been critical of some policies of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Riyadh’s intervention in the war in Yemen…”

  19. Orbán: Europe Locked in ‘Culture War’, But ‘Cultural Peace’ Reigns in Hungary (breitbart, Oct 7, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/10/07/orban-europe-locked-culture-war-cultural-peace-reigns-hungary/

“Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has said that the “culture war” is not being fought on Hungary, but it being fought in Europe which is succumbing to a “creeping” cultural surrender.

Addressing the audience at a ceremony to celebrate the revamp of the Budai Vigadó, which houses the country’s heritage museum, Prime Minister Orbán remarked that though he “hear[d] that there’s a culture war going on in Hungary”, he believes the central European country is rather existing in a state of “culture peace”.

The Hungarian leader warned of a “creeping pan-European cultural self-renunciation”, and argued that if the continent’s cultural foundations disappeared, Europe would “collapse like a house of cards”.

And while Europeans and Hungarians respect other cultures, he vowed that “no-one can force us to take this as the relinquishment of our own culture and submission to another culture.”

“So we’ll stand up and declare who we are and our beliefs about God, the homeland, and family, and the impact Hungarians believe this has on European life,” he added.

The popular conservative statesman, who won his third consecutive term in office in April with a parliamentary supermajority, pledged earlier in the year to enact a “major family policy action plan” to make the country family-friendly and support Hungarians to have children — rather than follow the lead of Western European nations that have welcomed mass migration to solve the supposed demographic time bomb of an ageing Europe.

The Prime Minister has also been vocal on rejecting so-called progressive values, vowing in his third-term inaugural speech to build a new “21st-century Christian democracy”….”

    https://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/10/07/salvini-italian-state-will-strengthen-self-defence-rights-cover-legal-costs-of-home-defenders/

“As part of a new self-defence reform, Italy’s populist interior minister Matteo Salvini has promised that people who confront home invaders will have their legal bills paid for by the Italian state.

The new self-defence bill is set to enter parliamentary debate on the 23rd of October, with Mr Salvini pushing for more liberalisation on the rights of Italians to defend themselves from home invasions, Il Giornale reports.

Writing on social media, Salvini stated: “A thief comes into your house, company or store, and you defend yourself? It will be your right to do so, and the thug (and his relatives) will not be able to ask for a euro of compensation.”

“Besides, you won’t end up on trial for years and you won’t pay your own pocket: the state will cover any legal expenses of those who defended themselves,” he added.

The statement follows promises made in June by the populist League (La Lega) leader, who said he would seek to liberalise the ability of homeowners to use firearms to defend their property…”

  21. Danish Minister Rejects EU Migrant Quotas Claiming ‘Too Few Contribute’ (breitbart, Oct 7, 2018)
    https://www.breitbart.com/london/2018/10/07/danish-minister-rejects-eu-migrant-quotas-claiming-too-few-contribute/

“Danish Immigration and Integration Minister Inger Støjberg has rejected EU migrant quotas for 2018, saying that migrants do not contribute enough to Denmark.

The Venstre party politician said that Denmark would not be opening the country’s borders to asylum seekers, saying: “Although we have gained significantly better control over the influx, we are still in the position that we are struggling to integrate the many refugees who have come to Denmark in recent years.”

“Despite the fact that more refugees have come to work, there are still too many who do not support themselves. This applies especially to women, where too few contribute. That is why I have decided that Denmark should not take quota refugees in 2018,” Støjberg added, according to Jyllands-Posten.

The statement comes after the Danish government passed legislation allowing the immigration minister to set the number of asylum seekers that would be welcomed into the country each year.

While serving as Integration and Immigration Minister, Støjberg has been among the European minister most critical of mass migration, advocating strongly for integration — including backing a newly proposed law which would require all migrants to shake hands with local government officials in order to gain citizenship.

When it was revealed that migrants were vastly overrepresented as perpetrators in rape cases, Støjberg commented: “It’s something we’ve seen through many years that crime rates are much higher in immigrant circles than they are among Danes.”

“In my opinion, it is because we have been too scared to set out clear demands to the people coming to Denmark. We have not dared to say that we expect and demand that they provide for themselves and their families and that we expect them to adjust to Danish values,” she added.

Last year, Støjberg even said she was open to the idea of placing failed asylum seekers on deserted Danish islands, but noted there could be “legal challenges” to such a proposal.”

  22. Italy vows to close airports if Germany sends back migrants (abcnews, Oct 7, 2018)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/italy-vows-close-airports-germany-sends-back-migrants-58341144

“Italy’s interior minister has vowed to close the country’s airports if Germany follows through with reported plans to send dozens of asylum-seekers back to Italy.

Matteo Salvini tweeted Sunday: “We’ll close our airports like we closed the ports.” Since Salvini became interior minister in June, the Italian government has blocked migrant rescue ships operated by humanitarian groups from docking in Italian ports.

Italian news reports have said Berlin was planning to put some migrants on charter flights from Germany to Italy. European Union rules require asylum-seekers to be processed in the country they reach first, which often is Italy due to its location.

Neither Italian nor German officials have confirmed that any such flights are planned.”

    • Italy threatens to close airports to German migrant deportations: report

BERLIN, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) — The Italian government has threatened to close its country’s airports amid reports that Germany is preparing to deport groups of migrants to Italy, the German Press Agency (DPA) reported on Sunday.

“If anyone — in Berlin or Brussels — plans to dump off dozens of migrants with non-authorized charter flights, he should know that no airport is available or will be,” said Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini, cited by DPA.

“We’re closing the airports, just like we’ve already closed the ports,” said Salvini, the head of the anti-migrant League party and the architect of Italy’s strict policy on migrants.

Italy’s populist-rightwing coalition, and its hardline anti-immigrant stance, made international headlines when it closed the nation’s ports to humanitarian vessels carrying rescued migrants.

According to DPA, employees at Munich’s airport said that the southern German state of Bavaria is planning a first set of group deportations to Italy in the coming days, for those migrants who arrived at the German border but first registered in Italy.

The sources said Bavarian police are to accompany a charter flight with the migrants onboard to Italy, which is responsible for their asylum applications according to EU rules, DPA reported.

Germany has for several years been a popular destination for many migrants arriving in Europe, but the issue has become a hot topic in German elections, especially in Bavaria, where regional elections are to be held next weekend.

A spokesman for the Bavarian authorities responsible for asylum applications and deportations denied that there were plans for large-scale returns this week.

“There isn’t any charter flight this week,” DPA cited the spokesman as saying. Bavaria does finance its own flights for deportation, but these are “coordinated with federal police”, he added.

A deportation by charter plane to Milan was already carried out at the end of July, according to the German Interior Ministry.

In the first half of the year, Germany sought to return 10,748 migrants to Italy. Only 1,692 foreigners were actually returned to Italy in the first half of 2018, DPA said.

Most of them were being sent back according to the so-called Dublin rules, under which migrants must register asylum claims in the EU member state where they first set foot, and that country remains responsible for handling their claims, according to DPA.

  23. UAE a major actor in space scene: French Space Agency (WAM, Oct 7, 2018)
    http://wam.ae/en/details/1395302712500

“Jean-Yves Le Gall, President of CNES, the French space agency, said that the UAE has become “one of the major actors in the space scene,” as he witnessed today the opening of the agency’s representative office in Abu Dhabi.

CNES, one of the oldest institutional space agencies in the world, has become the first foreign space agency to have its office in the UAE, and it will be represented by Donato Giorgi.

Jean-Yves Le Gall said that France would like to further bolster collaboration with the UAE in the space sector, and opening of this office is the result of a long strategic partnership between the two countries.

“The UAE space programme in a few years has made the country one of the major actors in the space scene,” he said, adding, “in the UAE, you will find a lot of dynamism, vision and interesting space, this is why we decided to enter in to a very special partnership through opening of a representative office of CNES in Abu Dhabi.

“We have lot of links with the UAE, and I am sure, we are going to develop them more in the coming years,” Jean-Yves, who is also co-chair of the Council of the European Space Agency, ESA, and President of the International Astronautical Federation, IAF, told the Emirates News Agency, WAM, in an exclusive interview at the residence of the French Ambassador to the UAE, Ludovic Pouille.

CNES is responsible for proposing and implementing space policy in France. It is involved in all aspects of space including Ariane (rocket family), sciences, observation, telecommunications and defence.

“It is important for us to present here in Abu Dhabi, because many important things are happening, and the opening of a representative office in the UAE, is the result of the long strategic partnership with the UAE Space Agency, and Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre, MBRSC,” Jean-Yves added.

The announcement was made in the presence of Dr. Ahmad bin Abdullah Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi, Cabinet Member and Minister of State for Higher Education and Advanced Skills, and Chairman of the UAE Space Agency. The Director-General of the UAE Space Agency, Mohammed Al Ahbabi, was also present.

“Investment in the space sector has multilateral benefits including creation of satellite applications, improvement of telecommunications’ services and technology. In fact, investment in space helps build the young generation in the space field, and develop the future prospects,” Jean-Yves, who also holds the rank of Officer in both the Legion of Honour and the National Order of Merit in France, said…”

In a speech before the United Nations on September 20, 2017, presumably as a way to support his claim that Israel is “a rogue and racist regime [that] trample[s] upon the most basic rights of the Palestinians,” Iranian President Hassan Rouhani repeatedly portrayed his government as dedicated to “moderation and respect for human rights,” adding:

“We in Iran strive to build peace and promote the human rights of peoples and nations. We never condone tyranny and we always defend the voiceless. We never threaten anyone…”

One need only look to Iran’s Christians — who form 1% of its entire population — to test these claims. Unlike the persecution other Christian minorities experience in Muslim majority nations — which often comes at the hands of Muslim individuals, mobs, or professional terrorists — the primary driver of Christian persecution in Iran is the government itself.

The 2018 World Watch List, compiled by Open Doors — a human rights organization that highlights the global persecution of Christians — makes this clear. Iran is among the top ten worst nations where Christians experience “extreme persecution”:

  26. The Big Hack: How China Used a Tiny Chip to Infiltrate U.S. Companies

The attack by Chinese spies reached almost 30 U.S. companies, including Amazon and Apple, by compromising America’s technology supply chain, according to extensive interviews with government and corporate sources.

In 2015, Amazon.com Inc. began quietly evaluating a startup called Elemental Technologies, a potential acquisition to help with a major expansion of its streaming video service, known today as Amazon Prime Video. Based in Portland, Ore., Elemental made software for compressing massive video files and formatting them for different devices. Its technology had helped stream the Olympic Games online, communicate with the International Space Station, and funnel drone footage to the Central Intelligence Agency. Elemental’s national security contracts weren’t the main reason for the proposed acquisition, but they fit nicely with Amazon’s government businesses, such as the highly secure cloud that Amazon Web Services (AWS) was building for the CIA.

To help with due diligence, AWS, which was overseeing the prospective acquisition, hired a third-party company to scrutinize Elemental’s security, according to one person familiar with the process. The first pass uncovered troubling issues, prompting AWS to take a closer look at Elemental’s main product: the expensive servers that customers installed in their networks to handle the video compression. These servers were assembled for Elemental by Super Micro Computer Inc., a San Jose-based company (commonly known as Supermicro) that’s also one of the world’s biggest suppliers of server motherboards, the fiberglass-mounted clusters of chips and capacitors that act as the neurons of data centers large and small. In late spring of 2015, Elemental’s staff boxed up several servers and sent them to Ontario, Canada, for the third-party security company to test, the person says.

Nested on the servers’ motherboards, the testers found a tiny microchip, not much bigger than a grain of rice, that wasn’t part of the boards’ original design. Amazon reported the discovery to U.S. authorities, sending a shudder through the intelligence community. Elemental’s servers could be found in Department of Defense data centers, the CIA’s drone operations, and the onboard networks of Navy warships. And Elemental was just one of hundreds of Supermicro customers.

During the ensuing top-secret probe, which remains open more than three years later, investigators determined that the chips allowed the attackers to create a stealth doorway into any network that included the altered machines. Multiple people familiar with the matter say investigators found that the chips had been inserted at factories run by manufacturing subcontractors in China.
This attack was something graver than the software-based incidents the world has grown accustomed to seeing. Hardware hacks are more difficult to pull off and potentially more devastating, promising the kind of long-term, stealth access that spy agencies are willing to invest millions of dollars and many years to get.
There are two ways for spies to alter the guts of computer equipment. One, known as interdiction, consists of manipulating devices as they’re in transit from manufacturer to customer. This approach is favored by U.S. spy agencies, according to documents leaked by former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden. The other method involves seeding changes from the very beginning.

One country in particular has an advantage executing this kind of attack: China, which by some estimates makes 75 percent of the world’s mobile phones and 90 percent of its PCs. Still, to actually accomplish a seeding attack would mean developing a deep understanding of a product’s design, manipulating components at the factory, and ensuring that the doctored devices made it through the global logistics chain to the desired location—a feat akin to throwing a stick in the Yangtze River upstream from Shanghai and ensuring that it washes ashore in Seattle. “Having a well-done, nation-state-level hardware implant surface would be like witnessing a unicorn jumping over a rainbow,” says Joe Grand, a hardware hacker and the founder of Grand Idea Studio Inc. “HardwareBut that’s just what U.S. investigators found: The chips had been inserted during the manufacturing process, two officials say, by operatives from a unit of the People’s Liberation Army. In Supermicro, China’s spies appear to have found a perfect conduit for what U.S. officials now describe as the most significant supply chain attack known to have been carried out against American companies.

One official says investigators found that it eventually affected almost 30 companies, including a major bank, government contractors, and the world’s most valuable company, Apple Inc. Apple was an important Supermicro customer and had planned to order more than 30,000 of its servers in two years for a new global network of data centers. Three senior insiders at Apple say that in the summer of 2015, it, too, found malicious chips on Supermicro motherboards. Apple severed ties with Supermicro the following year, for what it described as unrelated reasons.
In emailed statements, Amazon (which announced its acquisition of Elemental in September 2015), Apple, and Supermicro disputed summaries of Bloomberg Businessweek’s reporting. “It’s untrue that AWS knew about a supply chain compromise, an issue with malicious chips, or hardware modifications when acquiring Elemental,” Amazon wrote. “On this we can be very clear: Apple has never found malicious chips, ‘hardware manipulations’ or vulnerabilities purposely planted in any server,” Apple wrote. “We remain unaware of any such investigation,” wrote a spokesman for Supermicro, Perry Hayes. The Chinese government didn’t directly address questions about manipulation of Supermicro servers, issuing a statement that read, in part, “Supply chain safety in cyberspace is an issue of common concern, and China is also a victim.” The FBI and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, representing the CIA and NSA, declined to comment.
The companies’ denials are countered by six current and former senior national security officials, who—in conversations that began during the Obama administration and continued under the Trump administration—detailed the discovery of the chips and the government’s investigation. One of those officials and two people inside AWS provided extensive information on how the attack played out at Elemental and Amazon; the official and one of the insiders also described Amazon’s cooperation with the government investigation. In addition to the three Apple insiders, four of the six U.S. officials confirmed that Apple was a victim. In all, 17 people confirmed the manipulation of Supermicro’s hardware and other elements of the attacks. The sources were granted anonymity because of the sensitive, and in some cases classified, nature of the information.
One government official says China’s goal was long-term access to high-value corporate secrets and sensitive government networks. No consumer data is known to have been stolen.

The ramifications of the attack continue to play out. The Trump administration has made computer and networking hardware, including motherboards, a focus of its latest round of trade sanctions against China, and White House officials have made it clear they think companies will begin shifting their supply chains to other countries as a result. Such a shift might assuage officials who have been warning for years about the security of the supply chain—even though they’ve never disclosed a major reason for their concerns……………….

As furor grows over CAQ hijab ban, anti-racism protest set for Sunday

The groups accuse premier-designate Legault and his Coalition Avenir Québec government of promoting racist policies and threatening social justice.

Groups opposed to what they contend is the systemic racism that exists in Quebec and Canada will take to the streets in protest on Sunday, saying they are expecting “at least 1,000 people.”

Speaking to reporters on Thursday morning, the groups said they had been planning the march no matter which party won Monday’s provincial election in Quebec. However they took the opportunity to lambaste premier-designate François Legault and his Coalition Avenir Québec government, which they say promotes racist policies and threatens social justice. And they noted that even if Legault had distanced himself from the congratulations he received from French anti-immigration politician Marine Le Pen, their opinion remained the same.

The groups that will participate in the protest, planned to take place in Place Émilie-Gamelin in downtown Montreal, were particularly critical of Legault’s having decided to follow through on a campaign promise to ban the wearing of religious symbols by civil servants in positions of authority — including teachers.

“It isn’t for the state to tell a woman what she can or cannot wear,” said Safa Chebbi of the group Alternatives. “It is unacceptable. We reject this freedom-killing and anti-feminist law.”

Scott Weinstein of Voix juives indépendantes urged all teachers to deliberately wear such symbols to show solidarity with colleagues who will be targeted by the legislation should it be adopted.

A mass protest against racism will take place in downtown Montreal this weekend

Thousands of participants are already signed up to partake in a mass protest this Sunday to march against racism in retaliation to the CAQ’s stance on immigrants and religious symbols.

Hosted by a public group called “Contre la haine et le racism” (Against Hate and Racism), the anti-racist protest will take off from Place Émilie-Gamelin at 3 pm and encourages people and families to show support in large numbers.

“With the results of the recent Quebec election – giving a majority to a political party that unapologetically used xenophobia against immigrants and religious minorities – it’s more important than ever to take the streets in opposition to racism,” reads the group’s website.

The group says that immigrants have been scapegoated and made to feel fear by far-right proposals like lowering immigration levels, a French values and language test, and deporting those who fail the test.

The protest will also refute the policy that public workers will be banned from wearing religious symbols in the workplace.

The group urges participants to take to the streets with a clear opposing message to the CAQ and “their racist far-right supporters.” The march will support the members of all communites, the struggles of Indigenous people, immigrants and all oppressed people.

The march will bring together people for a society without borders, based on solidarity and inclusion.
