    • John McCain – Will History Solve the Puzzles?
Home > World > Egypt > John McCain – Will History Solve the Puzzles?

John McCain — war hero and politician – passed away at 81 after a battle with brain cancer. Definite puzzles remain about his life. Will they be solved by history?

Reading about how McCain maintained his dignity and morals while he was subjected to torture at the hands of the North Vietnamese and how he refused an offer of freedom from his captors was awe inspiring.

(When the Vietnamese found out he was the son of a well-known admiral, they offered to let him go. But McCain refused, because the offer was not extended to other POWs.

As Fox News reported, quoting Tom Callender, a Navy affairs analyst, “He knew it would be powerful propaganda to show that [the North Vietnamese] were merciful.” Callender also noted that even in this situation, McCain refused to break Article III of the Military Code of Conduct — to “accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy.”)

Reading about McCain’s life in the military is like reading a roster of “doing the right thing.” That is why positions that McCain has taken in the last years are all the more puzzling. In the following paragraphs, we document the troubling stance McCain took in the war against radical Islam since 2012.

Hell, McCain had it easy. Ted Kennedy had to drive off a bridge before succumbing to the very same affliction.

    • the gateway pundit – Complete List: History of John McCain Calling for War Around the World

[…]Several Americans objected to his frequent calls for war.
Here is a complete list of John McCain calling for war around the world.
Zero Hedge and GeopoliticsAlert posted this last July.

The list is of course a history of all the instances McCain has called for US-led intervention around the world. There’s obviously a long history here, so Geopolitics Alert has compiled the largest examples from Europe to Asia. We’ll start with the obvious wars first.

      Afghanistan and Iraq
Obviously every US senator (besides California’s Barbara Lee) voted to give president George W. Bush the power to invade Afghanistan following the events of September 11th. However, McCain wasn’t happy with just moving to invade Afghanistan. No, he had other targets on his mind as early as the day after the towers fell.

Despite McCain’s claim in 2014 that “the Iraq war probably wouldn’t have happened” if he had won the 2000 Republican primary and then general election, this assertion seems ridiculous. On September 12th 2001, McCain appeared on MSNBC presenting a long list of countries he felt were providing a “safe harbor” to groups like al Qaeda. This list of course included Iraq and several other countries that appear later on this list.

Another country on that 2001 list (of course) was Syria. Now, the Bush regime may have never gotten a chance to continue toppling Mideast countries (thanks to the failure in Iraq and the exposure of that war being sold on lies). But McCain seemingly never lost sight of his hatred for Bashar Al-Assad.

Shortly after the Arab Spring “broke out” in Syria, McCain – and his constant partner in war crimes Sen. Lindsey Graham – quickly found communication channels with the “Syrian opposition.” Just a few short months after the US endorsed protests in Syria (even having their ambassador attend), McCain and Graham began calling for arms to start flowing to the Free Syrian Army and other “rebel” groups.

McCain’s plans for Syria never quite worked the way he wanted but he probably should’ve know they would never yield a positive result. If McCain didn’t want to look at Iraq to prove that point, he had another more recent example he could’ve used: the NATO intervention in Libya.

It was less than a year before McCain wanted to arm Syrian takfiris that he had supported with the bombing and no fly zones in Libya. McCain even wanted tougher actions against the country. Which has now become an anarchic Wild West that’s home to all sorts of horrors from the Islamic State to a new slave trade.

      West and Central Africa
McCain is also a champion of the “war on terror” in other parts of Africa. While McCain hasn’t directly supported terrorists in some countries in Africa, he still has called for more US intervention across the continent.

This list includes countries dealing with Islamic insurgencies, such as Mali. McCain has also called for plans like “deploying Special Forces” to rescue girls kidnapped by Boko Haram in Nigeria and intervention in Sudan, where McCain and his wife have invested money for some time.

Another country on the list of hated nations originally put forth by Bush undersecretary of defense Paul Wolfowitz, and also another long time target of McCain, is of course Iran.

Although McCain has always said “he prays” there will never be at war with Iran, the man constantly calls for it and even jokes about bombing the country when he feels the mood is right. The truth of the matter is, McCain’s positions towards Iran are so hostile that even flagship neoconservative institutions like the Cato Institute think he is too hawkish.

      Bosnia and Kosovo
But McCain isn’t satisfied with just backing salafi jihadists in the traditional Middle East and North African theaters. He’s also backed violent radicals across the fringes of Europe. This trend really started in the mid 1990’s when McCain was a vocal supporter of then president Bill Clinton’s war in Bosnia.

Many of the Muslims traveling to Bosnia joining the mujahideen there have joined groups like IS in recent years. And IS flags can occasionally be seen in the Sunni areas of Bosnia now. McCain was still backing potential takfiri movements, recently accusing Russia of interfering in local affairs, and calling for more US intervention in the country.

McCain made similar decisions when he advocated US intervention in Kosovo in the late 90’s. In the Kosovo conflict, McCain backed the Kosovo Liberation Army: a genocidal jihadist organization with ties to Al Qaeda under Osama Bin Laden.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that McCain only supports jihadists in Eastern Europe though! He also backs the overt Nazis acting as death squads for Kiev in the ongoing Ukrainian conflict.

This of course started in 2014, but McCain has continued to pledge support for Kiev’s crimes in the Donbass region to this day. This is all par for the course in McCain’s larger theme of challenging Russia– the country he believes controls the separatists in eastern Ukraine.

The story of McCain’s hatred of Russia spans back to the Cold War. We won’t get into McCain’s fear of communism that’s evolved into just general Russophobia. But we will say he didn’t have many excuses to focus on making threats towards Moscow for a good 15-20 year stretch.

This changed in 2008, with the war in South Ossetia between Georgia and Russia. During this conflict McCain was the loudest voice saying the US “should immediately call a meeting of the North Atlantic Council to assess Georgia’s security and review measures NATO can take to contribute to stabilizing this very dangerous situation.”

This same situation repeated in Ukraine in 2014 but McCain’s worst comments came this year. As soon as the US Intelligence Community’s accused Russia of interference in the 2016 US elections– and without any evidence– McCain was first to say the event was an “act of war.”

      North Korea
The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DRPK/North Korea) was also an early target of McCain’s making his September 12th wish list. More recently though, the restyled “Trump opponent” McCain was all-in on the new regime’s saber rattling. Calling on Trump to strike the nuclear armed country.

      Bonus: China
China is kind of in its own class with McCain, who’s made strange vague threats towards the country in the past. Such as “the Arab spring is coming to China,” whatever that means. China may be a target on the periphery for McCain but he does still encourage antagonizing the country to this day. Calling for things like more “freedom of navigation drills” and other naval exercises in the South China Sea.

  2. Ex-Nuncio Accuses Pope Francis of Failing to Act on McCarrick’s Abuse
In a written testimony, Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò claims Pope Francis withdrew sanctions against Archbishop Theodore McCarrick.
    Edward Pentin

In an extraordinary 11-page written testament, a former apostolic nuncio to the United States has accused several senior prelates of complicity in covering up Archbishop Theodore McCarrick’s allegations of sexual abuse, and has claimed that Pope Francis knew about sanctions imposed on then-Cardinal McCarrick by Pope Benedict XVI but chose to repeal them.

Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, 77, who served as apostolic nuncio in Washington D.C. from 2011 to 2016, said that in the late 2000s, Benedict had “imposed on Cardinal McCarrick sanctions similar to those now imposed on him by Pope Francis” and that Viganò personally told Pope Francis about those sanctions in 2013.

  3. Nolte: CNN’s Jim Sciutto Busted for Two Fake News Scoops in One Week

CNN’s Jim Sciutto has had two big scoops debunked as very fake news in just one week.

Sciutto, CNN’s chief national security correspondent, joined the far-left network after serving in Barack Obama’s White House for a few years. His bias and dishonesty has made already him a laughingstock on more than one occasion, but this was an especially bad week for the anti-Trump activist.

Last week, Sciutto misled the public with a breathless piece of “breaking news” that falsely claimed President Trump did not consult with Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats prior to revoking the security clearance of John Brennan, the former CIA chief who, like Sciutto, served in the Obama administration.

Using his verified Twitter account, Sciutto wrote: “Breaking: DNI Coats – the nation’s senior-most Intelligence official – was NOT consulted on Trump decision to revoke Fmr CIA Director John Brennan’s security clearance.”

  5. Jemele Hill is out at ESPN

Jemele Hill needed to be out at ESPN. Hill knew it. ESPN president Jimmy Pitaro knew it. And, now, Jemele Hill is out at ESPN.

The marriage between ESPN and Hill — the controversial sports commentator who waded into politics and sparred with President Donald Trump — has long been stuck in irreconcilable differences. Since leaving “SportsCenter” earlier this year, she has barely worked, making a divorce the obvious conclusion.

A buyout of her reported $2.5 million per year contract has been completed and her last day will be Friday, according to sources.

On Saturday night, the author James Miller, who wrote a book about ESPN, first tweeted the news of the breakup, calling it “amicable.” The timing, on a Saturday evening, was fortunate for Hill and ESPN in an attempt to lessen the news coverage of what had been a huge national story, both in politics and in sports. There had been rumblings last week of buyout talks between the two sides.

  6. Twitter Chief Jack Dorsey to Testify Before Congress in September

Twitter chief executive Jack Dorsey will testify before the House Energy and Commerce Committee on September 5 regarding his company’s censorship practices.

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) called on Dorsey to testify in front of Congress in early August on Twitter’s “shadowbanning” and censorship practices on his social media platform.

McCarthy said in a press release on Friday:

  7. Roger Stone Predicts Mueller Will Indict Donald Trump Jr. on Process Crime

Veteran Republican operative Roger Stone predicts special counsel Robert Mueller will soon indict Donald Trump Jr. on a process crime.

Following the indictments of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and longtime Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, the Office of the Special Counsel is now reportedly zeroing in on Trump Jr., whom Stone alleges will imminently face charges for making false statements to Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents.

“The special counsel is going to charge Donald Trump Jr. with lying to the FBI. Notice they’re not charging him for having an illegal meeting with a Russian at Trump Tower because there’s nothing illegal about that meeting,” Stone told James Miller of The Political Insider. “[P]ut more precisely, the only thing illegal about that meeting was how the woman got in the country, how she got a visa from the Obama State Department, and why she was meeting with an official from Fusion GPS before and after the Trump Tower meeting.”

  8. Russia Warns Staged “Chemical Provocation” Coming In Syria After Bolton Cites New Intel

Russia is again warning of a new potential chemical provocation in Syria at the end of a week in which US National Security Advisor John Bolton threatened Damascus with a “very strong” military response should allegations emerge amidst the Syrian Army campaign to liberate Idlib.

The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) said on Saturday per state-run TASS:

A provocation with an alleged chemical weapons use in Syria, which terrorists are plotting to stage with the assistance of UK special services, will serve as a pretext for missile strikes by the West and the United States against the Arab country, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on Saturday.

According to the Russian general, the provocation will be staged by terrorists of the Hayat Tahrir ash-Sham terrorist organization (formerly known as Jabhat al-Nusra outlawed in Russia) and for this purpose eight containers with chlorine have been brought to the Idlib province.

Conor Daly’s Lilly sponsorship decals removed because of father’s use of racial slur in 1980s

Conor Daly is paying for the sins of his father.

Conor’s father, Derek Daly, on Thursday admitted he had used a racial slur in a live radio interview in the early 1980s. Connor Daly was born in 1991.

On Friday, Lilly Diabetes pulled its sponsorship decals from Conor Daly’s No. 6 NASCAR ride, saying that it didn’t want the distraction from their cause.

Lilly’s full statement, via NASCAR reporter Chris Knight: “Our sponsorship in Saturday’s race is intended to raise awareness of treatment options and resources for people living with diabetes. Unfortunately, the comments that surfaced this week by Derek Daly distract from this focus, so we have made the decision that Lilly Diabetes will no longer run the No. 6 at Road America this weekend.

“We remain committed to our mission of supporting people with diabetes.”

  10. Lawless London: Worried residents building BARRICADES around their homes

Shocking pictures show large wooden barricades have been put up around property in the posh West London neighbourhood.

The famous annual carnival celebrating British African-Caribbean will see hundreds of thousands of people flock to the area to enjoy the colourful parade and street food.

But the event has been marred with violence in the past, with multiple stabbings and violent attacks occurring previously.

And this year, cops are reportedly taking no chances with thousands of officers set to monitor revellers.

  11. Media mogul with Miami mansion emerges as key suspect in Venezuela corruption case

A Venezuelan TV mogul who has amassed a real estate fortune in South Florida and New York is now at the center of a $1.2 billion money-laundering investigation — put there by a Swiss banker who has admitted guilt and is helping Miami prosecutors build a criminal case against him.

Raúl Gorrín, owner of the Globovisión network in Caracas, is suspected of steering $600 million from the country’s state-owned oil company to a European bank to enrich himself, the three stepsons of President Nicolás Maduro and other members of Venezuela’s politically connected elite, according to new court records and multiple sources familiar with the federal probe in Miami.

Identified only as “Conspirator 7” in court records, Gorrín collaborated with Swiss banker Matthias Krull to make the massive wire transfer two years ago, sources say.

  12. Parents fight back after school drops Pledge of Allegiance for student-authored oath to ‘global society’

Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School Principal Lara Zelski decided students will no longer recite the Pledge of Allegiance during the school’s morning meeting agenda, which she described to parents as “an effort to begin our day as a fully inclusive and connected community.”

“Over the past couple of years it has become increasingly obvious that more and more of our community were choosing to not stand and/or recite the pledge,” she wrote, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

The statement, posted to the school website, promised parents students could recite the Pledge of Allegiance later in the day, if they felt like it, and vowed to create better pledge specifically for the school.

“Teachers and the K-5 leadership team will be working with students to create a school pledge that we can say together at morning meeting,” Zelski wrote, adding that it “will focus on students’ civic responsibility to their school family, community, country and our global society.”

“I’m really looking forward to what our students create,” she wrote, according to TheBlaze.

The move infuriated parents and quickly gained the attention of Georgia House Speaker David Ralston, gubernatorial candidate Brian Kemp, and others who denounced the decision.

  13. Report: U.S. Will Retaliate Against Syria If It Uses Chemical Weapons

A new report suggests the U.S. may be preparing to hit Syria if President Bashar Al Assad ever uses chemical weapons.

According to a report released Saturday, National Security Adviser John Bolton issued the warning to his Russia counterpart earlier this week.

Bolton reportedly clarified the U.S. will respond with more force than it has in the past.

This comes just one day after a report surfaced from U.S. Intelligence suggesting Assad may be planning a chemical attack in the Idlib province.

    • This is just terrible.

We won’t buy off the Trump haters by bombing Russian assets. Or bombing empty buildings made to look like Russian assets.

Theresa May didn’t appreciate our support after her sketchy claims of poisoned spies. Increased sanctions get one day’s headlines in the Daily Mail and then make any constructive engagement with Putin look like treason by our President.

Let’s hope Mattis joins Sessions in retirement after Midterms.

      • PTrump is doing the best he can to stop Iran under the current Congressional mandate that’s limited to fighting ISIS. To keep Iran from its hair-breath completion of the “land bridge” to the Med, ISIS has to get a stay of execution.

        And reinforcements.
Which it’s been getting, morphing back into its original identity, al-Q. We and our Sunni “allies” are responsible for that. A reunion, à la Afghanistan of yore.

Fake chemical attacks – pretext for what, exactly?
Didn’t do much damage last time. Like Bibi’s “sound and fury” strikes on empty buildings in Gaza. Wasteful, could’ve spliced old videos and saved a lot of money.

It’s good for Israel, Jordan, and the Kurds that the US is making loud noises. Everybody in the region knows we’re still in the game. Dispels some of the worry over off-the-wall ambiguous messaging. Idiot 0-holdover McGurk, et al.

Americans probably won’t glom onto the CW-hoax: PT’s base is too reverent to ask questions, and the enemedia is hot for anything “anti-Russia”. A lovely showcase for whatever weapons’ systems Lockheed-Martin or Boeing intends to market.

We’re unlikely to damage Russian assets: Putin’s most certainly got a heads’ up. He’ll welcome damage to Iranian positions. Let’s hope accidents are minimal.

It’s a cynical ploy people in the region will appreciate for what it is. We bleat about “honor” they consider childish. Honesty is just not in their hierarchy of values.

        • We bleat about “honor” they consider childish. Honesty is just not in their hierarchy of values.

Do you mean to say that “Muslim deceit” is, is … redundant?!?

[Gasps – whilst clutching at pearls]

Clearly, if “honor” doesn’t involve murdering disobedient young women, or having them or their little brothers gang-raped according village tradition, then there wasn’t much “honor” to defend in the first place.

  14. America is waging ‘psychological war’ against Iran: foreign minister

GENEVA (Reuters) – America is waging a psychological war against Iran and its business partners, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Sunday, according to the Tasnim news agency.

“[America’s] focus is on a psychological war against Iran and its business partners,” Zarif said.

President Donald Trump pulled the United States out of a 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers in May and is reimposing sanctions on Tehran. Other parties to the accord are trying to find ways to save the agreement.

Trump’s decision to withdraw from the accord has hurt the United States, Zarif said, according to the Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA).

“From the time that Trump announced the withdrawal from the nuclear deal, America has not been able to reach its goals,” Zarif said.

  15. North Korea newspaper blasts ‘double-dealing’ U.S. after Pompeo’s trip canceled

(Reuters) – North Korea’s state-controlled newspaper on Sunday accused the United States of “double-dealing” and “hatching a criminal plot” against Pyongyang, after Washington abruptly canceled a visit by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

Negotiations have been all but deadlocked since U.S. President Donald Trump’s summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore in June.

Pompeo has pressed for tangible steps toward North Korea’s abandonment of its nuclear arsenal while Pyongyang is demanding that Washington first make concessions of its own.

North Korea’s Rodong Sinmun newspaper said U.S. special units based in Japan were staging an air drill aimed at “the infiltration into Pyongyang”, citing a South Korean media outlet.

“Such acts prove that the U.S. is hatching a criminal plot to unleash a war against the DPRK and commit a crime which deserves merciless divine punishment in case the U.S. fails in the scenario of the DPRK’s unjust and brigandish denuclearisation first,” the paper said.

There is something to be said for not wantonly throwing countries into China’s embrace. Especially in Latin America, where we should make Monroe Doctrine noises at a minimum.

      • That is pretty much what I thought, China’s economy is much worse then is reported and apparently believed by the author. Yes the US has a massive debt problem but we (at least while Trump is in the White House) are the nation with the best chance of riding out an economic crash. When the World’s economy crashes China is toast and so is most of the rest of the world.

What we have to remember is that most of the people doing economic analysis are Keynesian’s who don’t really understand business, finance and economics.

  16. MSNBC panelist falsely claims ‘Steele dossier keeps getting corroborated’
By Daily Caller News Foundation August 26, 2018

An MSNBC panelist falsely claimed on Saturday that the Steele dossier “keeps getting corroborated” by Special Counsel Robert Mueller and reporters.

Paul Butler, a law professor at Georgetown University, made the claim in a panel discussion despite new developments earlier this week that cast doubt on allegations in the dossier about Michael Cohen, a former attorney for Trump.

Earlier this week, Lanny Davis, a Clinton-connected attorney now representing Cohen, asserted that the dossier’s allegations about Cohen are “100 percent” false. The dossier, which was funded by the Clinton campaign and Democratic National Committee, accuses Cohen of visiting Prague in August 2016 to work as a conduit between the Trump campaign and Kremlin.

  17. Progressives masquerade as conservatives or libertarians
By Jerome Woehrle August 25, 2018

To create a false impression of balance, liberal media organs like the Washington Post will employ progressive writers who once were conservatives, and label them as conservatives. By depicting a liberal as a “mainstream” conservative, they can make actual conservatives seem like right-wing extremists by comparison.

The classic example is the Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin, who writes the Washington Post’s “Right Turn” column supposedly from a “conservative perspective.” Rubin focuses on bashing both moderate and conservative Republicans, such as calling House Speaker Paul Ryan a “disgraced toady.” She has attacked Donald Trump for doing conservative things, and also bashes never-trump Republicans such as John Kasich and mainstream GOP figures like Ed Gillespie. She opposes repealing Obamacare and DACA, denounced GOP proposals to cut welfare spending, and celebrated the passage of a Congressional spending deal that increased the budget deficit to over $1 trillion.

Rubin supported liberal John Kerry for President in 2004, was a pro-labor liberal in California, but then wrote conservative articles for a few publications in Washington, D.C., just long enough to later masquerade as a conservative for the Washington Post. In June 2017, she attacked Attorney General Jeff Sessions for ending the corrupt Obama-era practice of funneling money from federal settlements to politically-connected left-wing groups.

    • The NYSlimes hired Bret Stephens away from the WSJ, where he was a highly respected conservative voice. He had been an editor for the Jerusalem Post for a few years.

He was part of the team working to inform the public about the Iran Deal. Brilliant, passionate, engaging.

What happened? Maybe the NYT/NYC social scene turned his head. Wives? Personal dislike for pre-political DJT? (I wouldn’t have been too keen on him myself in a social context.)

Now Bret’s just another blind hater. A Never-Trump clone.

And it’s a crying shame. We’ll be needing the good Bret more and more. The enemy is increasingly Jew-hating, Israel-demonizing, and communist. Wounds today may be bound-up in war, but bonds of trust will never be the same.

  18. rump admitting fewer than half of all refugees allowed because of enhanced vetting
By Daily Caller News Foundation August 25, 2018

The U.S. is on track to admit fewer than half the number of refugees allowed under the current annual cap, as the Trump administration’s enhanced screening procedures have slowed the refugee resettlement process.

With just over a month remaining in fiscal year 2018, the U.S. is on pace to resettle about 20,000 to 21,000 refugees, which would be the smallest number since the current refugee program was established in 1980. President Donald Trump set the FY2018 refugee cap at 45,000 in 2017 — itself the lowest annual ceiling during the same time period.

One reason for the historically low number of refugee admissions is that it now takes the FBI much longer to conduct background checks than it did before the administration put new security vetting in place, NBC reported Friday.

The FBI, one of several government agencies involved in the refugee screening process, often reviews just a “handful” of cases in a single day, according to the NBC report, which cited two former Trump administration officials and humanitarian workers.

  19. The Left’s latest offensive in its war on free speech
By Jeff Dunetz August 25, 2018

The way things are trending, the future will see execution as the penalty for conservative thought. The evidence is clear that the Left is ramping up its war on conservative free speech. We’ve already witnessed the social media’s joint censorship of Alex Jones as well as New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s attempts to get banks and insurance companies to stop working with the NRA. And let’s not forget YouTube’s wholesale removal of Dennis Prager’s “Prager U” videos.

The Left’s latest target is the David Horowitz Freedom Center (DHFC), Visa and Mastercard have discontinued serving the DHFC because the far-left Southern Policy Law Center (SPLC) pressured them into believing that the center is a hate group.

The Daily Wire tells us of the SPLC’s actions against Horowitz:

    • The way things are trending, the future will see execution as the penalty for conservative thought.

The way things are going that future isn’t too far off, the world wide war that the left is waging against all who oppose its agenda is headed to a very nasty kinetic phase that will last for several decades. This war will be complicated by the fact that the Islamic Invaders who will take up arms to try and force all of use to become Moslems. We are facomg a future where the rich will have enough security guards they will qualify as House Hold Troops in al but name. The rest of us will be forced to rely on our own resources to protect ourselves. The dystopian novels of the 1950s and 60s SF are about to play out in reality. May the good guys win and all of us survive.

          • Be sure you have a stockpile of your meds.
I’m not supposed to say things like that.

  20. Russia Accuses UK of Backing False Flag Chemical Attack in Syria (breitbart, Aug 26, 2018)

“Russia on Saturday said Syrian rebels were preparing a chemical attack in Idlib province which will be blamed on Damascus and used as a pretext for Western powers to hit government targets in the war-torn country.

Moscow’s accusation comes after US President Donald Trump’s national security adviser John Bolton this week said Washington will respond “very strongly” if Syrian President Bashar Assad uses chemical weapons in an offensive to retake Idlib, one of the last rebel held provinces in the country.

Russian defense ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said in a statement that the jihadist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham is “preparing another provocation of the ‘use of chemical weapons’ by Syrian government forces against the peaceful population of the Idlib province.”

He said the group delivered “eight chlorine tanks” to Jisr al-Shughur town in order to “stage” the attack and that these were later taken to a village eight kilometers (5 miles) away.

The statement also said a group of militants “trained in handling poisonous substances under the supervision of specialists from the private British military company Oliva arrived in the town a day earlier.

“The militants have the task of simulating the rescue of the victims of the chemical weapons attack dressed in the clothes of the famous ‘White Helmets,’” it said.

Konashenkov accused British special services of being “actively involved” in the “provocation” which will “serve as another reason for the US, the UK and France to hit Syrian government targets with air strikes.”

In April, the US, France and Britain launched joint missile strikes on Syrian targets in response to an alleged chemical weapons attack in the town of Douma that left scores dead.

Russia stuck by its ally Syria and angrily insisted the Douma attack was staged by the White Helmets volunteer rescue service.

In Jerusalem on Wednesday, Bolton said Washington was “concerned about the possibility that Assad may use chemical weapons again.”

“Just so there’s no confusion here, if the Syrian regime uses chemical weapons we will respond very strongly and they really ought to think about this a long time,” Bolton said.

Speculation is increasing that there could be a Russian-backed government assault on Idlib, one of the so-called “de-escalation” zones set up as a result of talks by Russia, Turkey and Iran last year.

On a visit to Moscow on Friday, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu warned Russia that seeking a military solution in Idlib would be a “catastrophe” before meeting President Vladimir Putin.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the situation in Idlib is “multi-faceted” and called for separating out “the healthy opposition from terrorist structures.”

Damascus still holds the southeastern tip of Idlib, a strategically important province adjacent to Latakia on the Mediterranean coast that is home to Assad’s clan.

More than 350,000 people have been killed and millions displaced since Syria’s war started in 2011 with the brutal repression of anti-government protests.”

    • Russian MoD: Foreign Specialists Arrived in Syria to Stage Chemical Attack (sputniknews, Aug 26, 2018)

“On Saturday, the Russian Defense Ministry’s spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said that a group of militants, who had been trained by the Olive Group, planned to stage the rescue of the victims of a chemical weapons attack in Idlib.

Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said that according to information received earlier in the day by the Russian Center for Syrian Reconciliation from local residents, foreign English-speaking specialists arrived in the Habit settlement, which is located in the south of the Idlib de-escalation zone, to stage a “chemical attack” using chlorine-filled missiles.

During a staged chemical attacks in Syria, people dressed like White Helmets as part of a plan to film videos clips for the Middle East and English-language media, Russian Defense Ministry’s spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said.

“In the most populated area of Kafr Zita, preparations are being made for a group of residents brought from the north of the province to participate in the staging of an “attack” of allegedly chemical munitions and bombs by Syrian government forces, staged assistance by mimicked ‘rescuers’ from the “White Helmets” and the shooting of video for distribution to the Middle East and English-language media,” he said.

Konashenkov noted that in this way, large provocations are being prepared in Syria involving the use of poisonous substances for the destabilization of communities and the disruption of the steady dynamics of the ongoing peace process.

“There are plans to launch rockets carrying poisonous substances on the settlement of Kafr Zita, located 6 km south of Habit, within two days,” he added.

Recently, Russian military said that the militants are preparing to use chemical weapons in Syria, and the US can use this as a reason for a new attack on Syrian state facilities.

For this purpose, the destroyer USS The Sullivans armed with 56 cruise missiles had arrived in the Persian Gulf several days ago, while a US ?-1? bomber carrying 24 air-to-surface AGM-158 JASSM cruise missiles has been deployed at Al Udeid air base in Qatar, Igor Konashenkov noted.

In April, a number of opposition media, including the mentioned While Helmets reported of a chemical attack in the city of Douma. No substantial proof was presented and, as prompt probe by Russian forces showed, no traces of chemical substances in the area have been found. But, a week following the alleged attack, the United States, France and the United Kingdom carried out a series of airstrikes against several government facilities in Syria that allegedly stored chemical weapons.”

RT- ‘Foreign specialists’ may stage chemical attack in Syria in 2 days to frame Assad – Russian MoD

“Foreign specialists” have arrived in Syria and may stage a chemical attack using chlorine in “the next two days,” the Russian Defense Ministry said. This will be filmed for international media to frame Damascus forces.

Defense Ministry Spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov said the operation is planned to unfold in the village of Kafr Zita in Syria’s northwestern Hama Province in “the next two days.”

Konashenkov said that “English-speaking specialists” are already in place to use “poisonous agents.” While a group of residents from the north has been transported to Kafr Zita and is currently being prepared “to take part in the staging of the attack” and be filmed suffering from supposed “‘chemical munitions’ and ‘barrel bombs’ launched by the Syrian government forces.”

The groups of residents will be used to assist “fake rescuers from the White Helmets.” They will be filmed apparently suffering from the effects of chemical weapons and then be shown in “the Middle Eastern and English-language media.”

The defense ministry earlier warned that the US, UK, and France are preparing to use the planned attack as a pretext for airstrikes against Syria. The USS The Sullivans, an Arleigh Burke-class Aegis guided missile destroyer, was already deployed to the Persian Gulf a couple of days ago.[…]

    • Syria: Army deploys troops to frontline with Idlib

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) sent reinforcements to the frontline with militant-held areas in Idlib province in north-western Syria on Friday.

Footage shows troops belonging to the 4th division of the SAA climbing aboard pick-up trucks and moving tanks and artillery through Al-Jayyid, Hama, on Saturday.

According to reports, the Syrian army is sending soldiers to three frontline areas which share borders with the last major militant stronghold of Idlib, namely the central province of Hama, the coastal province of Latakia and the southern part of Idlib itself.

Talk of an assault on Idlib was the source of a growing diplomatic spat this week.

On Tuesday, the United States, France and Britain issued a joint statement stressing their “concern at the potential for further, and illegal, use of chemical weapons.”

The Syrian Foreign Ministry hit back the following day, condemning the remarks as a “threat” against Damascus. While the Russian Ministry of Defence released its own statement accusing militants of planning a fresh chemical attack, which could be used by Western powers as a pretext to launch airstrikes on Syria.

  25. Bombshell: FEC Records Indicate Hillary Campaign Illegally Laundered $84 Million

The press continues to feed the dying Russia collusion conspiracy theory, spending Friday’s news cycle regurgitating Democrat talking points from the just-filed Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act lawsuit against the Trump campaign, WikiLeaks, and Russia.

Yet the mainstream media took no notice of last week’s federal court filing that exposes an $84 million money-laundering conspiracy the Democratic National Committee and the Hillary Clinton campaign executed during the 2016 presidential election in violation of federal campaign-finance law.

That lawsuit, filed last week in a DC district court, summarizes the DNC-Clinton conspiracy and provides detailed evidence from Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings confirming the complaint’s allegations that Democrats undertook an extensive scheme to violate federal campaign limits.
    From Bundling To Money Laundering

Dan Backer, a campaign-finance lawyer and attorney-of-record in the lawsuit, explained the underlying law in an article for Investor’s Business Daily: Under federal law, “an individual donor can contribute $2,700 to any candidate, $10,000 to any state party committee, and (during the 2016 cycle) $33,400 to a national party

  28. Taxpayers Sue Over Islamist Propaganda in Public School
Home > Political Islam > In the US > Government > Taxpayers Sue Over Islamist Propaganda in Public School
By Clarion Project Wednesday, August 22, 2018

A local group of citizens is suing the school committee in Newton, Massachusetts for using Islamist propaganda as teaching materials in a public school. The group says the school’s curriculum is based on “unvetted educational materials” produced by Saudi Arabian oil company ARAMCO and the Qatari government, reported The Washington Free Beacon.

“Newton public school students are propagandized with materials that slander Israel and the Jewish people, and that falsify history to promote the Islamic religion in public schools,” said the group in a press release.

The citizen’s group, called Educations Without Indoctrination, further claims that the issue is being deliberately suppressed by the school committee, as the committee has repeatedly stonewalled parents.

“All that secrecy has now crossed into illegality,” said Karen Hurvitz, the lawyer for the group, in the lawsuit. “For months now, dozens of Newton citizens have come before the school committee to complain about the non-objective, anti-Jewish, and Islamic religious lessons, as well as about Superintendent David Fleishman, who has refused to stop it being taught. Yet the names of all these citizens and summaries of what they said were deliberately omitted from the school committee meeting minutes month after month.”

This is not the first time a public school in Massachusetts has been at the center of controversies surrounding teaching materials deemed by many as Islamist propaganda:

  30. Ankara Tries Turkish Cypriot Journalist for Criticizing Turkey

    by Uzay Bulut
    August 26, 2018 at 5:00 am

A veteran journalist in Europe’s last divided city, Nicosia, has been targeted and intimidated by Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for criticizing Turkey’s actions in Cyprus and elsewhere in the region.

?ener Levent, editor-in-chief of the Turkish-language daily newspaper, Afrika, in Cyprus, has been charged with crimes by Turkish prosecutors in Ankara. The charges concern the January 21 front page of the newspaper, which criticized Turkey’s invasion of the Syrian city of Afrin as well as an article by Levent about a violent mob action against his newspaper on January 22.

Afrika, which has a left-wing political stance, is located in the occupied northern section of Nicosia and covers news related to Cyprus, Turkey and the wider region. The initial version of Afrika was the newspaper Avrupa (“Europe”), established in 1997 and printed for 4 years before Afrika replaced it.

The paper has been especially critical of Turkey’s occupation of the island, and various crimes the Turkish military has committed there.

As a result of the Turkish invasion in 1974, Nicosia, the capital of the Republic of Cyprus, remains divided, with the northern part occupied and controlled by the “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus,” or the “TRNC”, recognized only by Turkey. The free, southern section of the city is governed by the Republic of Cyprus. The two parts of the city are separated by a UN-patrolled demilitarized “buffer zone.”

  31. China’s Secret War on the United States

When it comes to foreign threats to the United States, Russia is the country that is always making headlines. Yet most geopolitical experts agree that it isn’t Russia that presents the biggest threat – it’s China.

Russia may or may not have interfered with the 2016 election. Regardless of whether they did or not, one thing we do know for certain is that China has been engaging in such tactics for years, hacking our databases and stealing US secrets such as our list of CIA agents with devastating success. Once they were able to access our list of active CIA agents, they began pitching CIA agents in the United States to try and get them to flip sides, and even began executing CIA agents that were working within China. Of course, all of this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the covert actions the Chinese have been taking against us.

Trump’s supposed ties to Russia are largely what has fueled the media’s obsession with the Kremlin. Yet for everything that Russia is doing to wage an undercover war against the United States, China is doing ten times more – all while flying under the radar of the American people.

While Russia no-doubt presents a concern, the American people, media, and politicians must come to recognize the much bigger threat that China presents before their secret war on the United States has the chance to develop into a full-blown attack.

  32. Facebook Shuts Down Iran-Linked Pages Attacking Brexit and Israel, Backing Corbyn and Scottish Separatists (breitbart, Aug 26, 2018)

“Facebook has closed a number of “inauthentic” pages linked to Iran which attacked Brexit and Israel and supporting Jeremy Corbyn and Scotland separating from the United Kingdom — but the political establishment and broadcast media have remained remarkably quiet.

Facebook shut down 652 pages, groups, and accounts, including ‘The British Left’ and ‘Free Scotland 2014’ — one of the largest pro-separatist pages on social media — which were found to be engaged in “co-ordinated inauthentic behaviour” after a tip-off from the FireEye cybersecurity firm, The Telegraph reports.

They were linked to the Islamist regime in Iran via Iranian state media and its ‘Liberty Front Press’ front group, with Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg confirming the network of accounts were shut down for “misleading people about who they were and what they were doing”.

Pro-EU posts shared by the impostor accounts depicted an English longbowman preparing to shoot an arrow into his own body and a man firing a pistol at his foot as a euphemism for Brexit.

Others showed Queen Elizabeth II bragging to her consort Prince Philip about a “pay rise” paid for by “the poor, the sick and the disabled”, and praised Labour’s anti-Israel leader Jeremy Corbyn — who has taken money from Iranian state media himself…”

    • It is stark testimony regarding the sadly, too-often-questionable functionality of America’s legal system that people like Elizabeth Warren are able to safely cavort about this nation’s streets without encountering many more chances to “wrestle” with those opinions of the average Joe or Josephine—which frequently, and just as conspicuously, are at very distinct odds with the pap and blather she spews into camera lenses at every opportunity.

Put another way, there’s more than one or two countries on this planet where deviating even slightly from government (especially Theocratic) orthodoxy simply gets you DEAD. None of which seems to inspire any sense of gratitude towards American soldiers from this thankless vaginal cavity.

Senator Warren’s attempts at criticizing those who place before America’s citizenry —an appropriately politicized murder case and—excruciatingly clear example of precisely why unvetted and unlimited immigration is such a very bad idea which amounts to (paraphrasing superb Brit comedian Stephen Fry) “pure sphincter juice”.

Contrary to the Left’s interminable bleating and mooing pissing and moaning, “The Wall” is but one minuscule, over-polished facet of why this politicization is so crucial. Regardless, when people like Warren simultaneously politicize it themselves this unmitigated tripe goes well-beyond the event horizon of everyday, garden variety hypocrisy and gaily traipses into the realm of genuine immorality.

Furthermore, as an elected and sworn official of the American government, Warren’s malfeasance also trespasses the territory of ethicality.

For most of humanity’s existence—unless you were exceptionally wealthy (i.e., 1% status)—merely trespassing upon a single one of these domains earned you imprisonment or DEATH, if not a massive confiscation of personal wealth. Deliberately and simultaneously straying across more than one of these boundaries—with any reasonable expectation of corporeal or financial survival—required political connections at the “throne-room” level.

In all of this resides the newest kernel of another yet-to-be-completed (i.e., in the next year or four) Notes from Norseradish™ essay, “The Ignominious Roots of Liberal Hypocrisy“©. This prinking about twixt Scylla and Charybdis is just fine if it happens between consenting adults behind closed doors. When publicly performed without even a hint of blushing or coloring up, this is the sociopolitical trollery for which the Left is opening its legs veins on an alarmingly frequent basis.

From watching just this one interview, it’s readily apparent that Elizabeth Warren is deep into Messina Strait-style politics, without even knowing it (or, at least, pretending not to know it). Nevertheless, whether it is a sea nymph that has been transformed into a six-headed, sailor nibbling beast or ship-swallowing whirlpool matters not.

Senator Warren is cluelessly helming her doomed Liberal ship into a perfect storm of political, racial, theological, and cultural double-overhead bombs that the Left will be particularly fortunate if it can voluntarily wipe out from—instead of getting the royal waxing that they so desperately deserve.

Despite abaft winds and what amounts to government protection Warren, much to her eventual infuriation, will soon enough discover that average Americans have had more than a bellyful of her party’s constant moonbattery (i.e., felonious assault with stupid liberal ideas) and are prepared to do something about it.

This coming November, indeed, will have a strange tale to tell.

There were multiple fatalities at a Madden NFL video game tournament in Jacksonville, Florida on Sunday. One suspect is also dead.

A shooter opened fire at Jacksonville Landing, a marketplace and entertainment area in downtown Jacksonville, Florida, on Sunday during a video game tournament there, authorities said.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said in a tweet on Sunday that there had been a “mass shooting” at the Jacksonville Landing. It encouraged bystanders to stay away from the area, as it was unsafe. The incident reportedly took place during a Madden NFL video game tournament that was underway at GLHF Game Bar in Jacksonville.

  34. Elizabeth Warren Earned Royalties From Natural Gas Producer With Long Rap Sheet Of Environmental Violations, Tax Returns Reveal

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren received royalty payments in 2017 from one of the largest natural gas producers in the nation, according to tax return documents her campaign released Wednesday.

Warren received $121 in royalty payments in 2017 from Chesapeake Operating, LLC, a subsidiary company of Chesapeake Energy, according to her tax return. Chesapeake is the second-largest natural gas producer in the nation behind Exxon Mobil and is the most active driller of new gas wells in the country.

Chesapeake has been hit with over $17 million in fines relating to environmental and leasing violations since 2007, the largest being a $3.2 million fine levied in 2013 after one of its subsidiary companies dumped unauthorized materials into dozens of streams and wetlands in West Virginia.

The natural gas royalties Warren collected in 2017 is negligible in comparison to her estimated net worth of between $3.7 and $10 million, however, the existence of the Democrat’s financial ties with Chesapeake is curious considering her aggressive stance against the energy industry. (RELATED: Elizabeth Warren’s Income Has Skyrocketed Since She Entered The Senate In 2013)

Warren called out major oil companies, including Exxon, Shell and BP for raking in billions in profits, during a 2015 speech before climate and labor activist where she stressed that government regulation of the energy industry was necessary to prevent companies from “dumping filth in the river or spewing poisons in the air.”

Notably absent from her speech was mention of Chesapeake, which operates nearly 23,000 oil and natural gas wells across the country. The company signs lease agreements with landowners prior to opening a new drill site and pays royalties to leaseholders, like Warren, typically as a percentage of the revenue earned from the sale of the gas drilled.

Warren’s financial ties to Chesapeake date back to before her entrance to the Senate in 2013, according to her tax returns.

She reported earning $204 in royalties from Chesapeake in 2012 and a combined $899 in royalties from “gas wells” from 2008 to 2011.

Warren is up for re-election in the Senate in November, but her campaign’s move to publish 10 years of her tax returns this week is being considered a precursor to a potential 2020 presidential bid, CNBC reported.

Warren did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

    • This article was worth reading, if only to discover that John (Never Trump) McCain has taken the dirt nap. Let us all hope how American Conservatism will be that much better off without having this yappy-@ss, treacherous, deck ape of an anchor clanker biting at its ankles..

Rarely, do I ever even try to make a shred of political hay from the passing of an American military veteran—especially one that was held as a POW. However, in this particular case, I’m willing to make a reluctant exception.

McCain so badly undermined genuine American Conservatism to where his loss is an awkward gain for all of us who wish that unity among the Right might be restored. Had this jerkwad simply declared himself to be a Democrat Liberal, I might have nothing to say. Instead, McCain’s prominent role in the perfidious Republican “Never Trump” cadre earns him nothing but contempt in my own book.

To go on any further would risk violating common decency, so … I’ll stop now.

      • I don’t know how I managed to miss all of the McCain obitchuaries at the top of this page but I did … so there!

  36. Turkey’s Erdogan says will bring safety and peace to Syria, Iraq (memo, Aug 26, 2018)

“Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan vowed on Sunday to bring peace and safety to Iraq and areas in Syria not under Turkish control and said terrorist organisations in those areas would be eliminated.

Turkey, which has backed some rebel groups in Syria, has been working with Russia, which supports Syrian President Bashar al Assad, and Iran for a political resolution to the crisis.

It has so far carried out two cross-border operations along its border with Syria and set up a dozen military observations posts in the northern Syrian region of Idlib.

The rebel-held Idlib enclave is a refuge for civilians and rebels displaced from other areas of Syria as well as for powerful jihadist forces, but has been hit by a wave of air strikes and shelling this month.

The attacks posed a possible prelude to a full-scale Syrian government offensive, which Turkey has said would be disastrous.

Speaking in the southeastern province of Mus to commemorate the anniversary of the Battle of Manzikert of 1071, Erdogan vowed to bring peace and safety to Syria and Iraq…”
